- 0:00Dayna Roselli: It's episode 296 of Vegas Revealed.
- 0:03Dayna Roselli: Signs of the Las Vegas Grand Prix are everywhere right now.
- 0:07Dayna Roselli: We hit the strip to reveal details of free F1 attractions.
- 0:11Sean McAllister: And Dana drinks from a shoe.
- 0:15Dayna Roselli: I'll be drunk by five, so I'm a lightweight.
- 0:19Dayna Roselli: Then our take on Leona Lewis's holiday show at Voltaire.
- 0:23Dayna Roselli: It wasn't what we expected.
- 0:24Sean McAllister: A free music and food festival and an option if you don't want to cook on Thanksgiving.
- 0:30Dayna Roselli: All that coming up now on Vegas Reveal.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: Vegas Revealed, presented by Galindo Law, starts now.
- 0:37Dayna Roselli: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 296.
- 0:41Dayna Roselli: We are rolling right along mid-November already.
- 0:46Sean McAllister: And that means uh F1 is coming up here really quick.
- 0:50Sean McAllister: And we're gonna get into some of the free attractions and some other fun things surrounding F1.
- 0:55Sean McAllister: But Dana, as we were driving down the strip to go uh and get these interviews and see these attractions, we drove by the guitar tower that's being built at uh the former Mirage, now Hard Rock, and we were shocked at how far along that was.
- 1:13Dayna Roselli: I know, it's coming right along.
- 1:14Dayna Roselli: You can it's actually looking like the bottom of a guitar.
- 1:17Sean McAllister: It is.
- 1:18Dayna Roselli: Well, I mean, kind of, because we know what it's gonna be.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: Well, and even the bottom of the guitar is really tall.
- 1:23Sean McAllister: It is so when they like do the top and the handle and all of it, it's gonna be big.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: And your friend Melissa sent me a little text uh in Instagram when she looked at my story and said, Look at that great, that wonderful glass.
- 1:37Dayna Roselli: Oh, I'm assuming that her husband's doing the glasswork.
- 1:40Sean McAllister: That's what it sounds like.
- 1:43Dayna Roselli: So a little tip.
- 1:44Sean McAllister: That is what it sounds like.
- 1:45Sean McAllister: Well, there's gonna be a lot of glass on that tower.
- 1:47Sean McAllister: So we had a good job to have.
- 1:50Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 1:51Dayna Roselli: We had someone comment on under that, you know, I want my volcano back.
- 1:54Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, uh, when was the last time you went to the volcano?
- 1:57Dayna Roselli: Let's be honest.
- 1:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, in 20 years, uh we talked about this.
- 2:01Sean McAllister: I think I went three times.
- 2:02Sean McAllister: Once with my nephews when I first moved here, once when they redid the drum soundtrack.
- 2:08Sean McAllister: They had some famous drummers involved in that, and once when it closed down.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: Well, I would think I went when it closed.
- 2:15Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 2:16Sean McAllister: That was about it.
- 2:17Sean McAllister: One and done.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: The one and done at the mirage closing ceremony.
- 2:21Dayna Roselli: Um, but I did get a little message from someone who said, you know what, I'm kind of bummed because I work at Treasure Island and that's my view of the strip.
- 2:29Sean McAllister: Oh.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: And I now can't see it.
- 2:30Dayna Roselli: And I was like, okay, I get that.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: I would be definitely very bummed.
- 2:33Sean McAllister: Yeah, if you look out and all you see is the guitar tower.
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:38Sean McAllister: So when you know the rest of Las Vegas is just on the other side.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: What you're gonna do?
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, I live in a tower that the Fountain Blue has always been there, but I always think if the Fountain Blue wasn't there, I'd have like a straight shot of the whole strip.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: That would be a good view.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: It would be, but I love that the Fountain Blue is decorated so nice.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: Like they have all these lights and twinkly lights going on in the trees, and so that's kind of my view now.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: So I feel like it's a great view.
- 3:02Sean McAllister: And whenever they do fireworks, you've got like a front row seat.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: True, very true.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I'm excited about the hard rock um guitar tower.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: I warmed up to it and I'm like, bring it on.
- 3:12Sean McAllister: Well, and it sounds like they're gonna connect the casino space from the guitar tower all the way back to the existing, you know, tower.
- 3:19Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: So that's a big uh plot of real estate that was not developed before because it was, you know, the volcano and the valet and all that stuff.
- 3:29Sean McAllister: Right.
- 3:30Sean McAllister: So it'll yeah, that's a lot of land to you know play with.
- 3:33Sean McAllister: So it'll be exciting to see what they do.
- 3:35Dayna Roselli: And it's interesting because um I I don't I like a good hotel without a theme.
- 3:39Dayna Roselli: I just like nice hotels.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: Uh so but it is interesting, the ones that have opened recently, if you think about it, Circa, Resorts World, Fountain Blue, they don't really have a theme like a lot of our earlier hotels had the Excalibur, the Luxor, the Flamingo, you know, Venetian.
- 3:56Dayna Roselli: So I'm looking forward to bringing back a theme, you know, having a guitar on the strip.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: I think that's that's good.
- 4:05Sean McAllister: Well, and I mean back in the day, the hard rock that was off the strip over on Paradise, where Virgin hotels is now, like that was a just a cool vibe.
- 4:14Sean McAllister: I mean, remember going in there, it was like memorabilia all over the place, and you knew you were in a hard rock.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: Very true.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: And you know, speaking of that, um, Virgin is the old hard rock, Virgin Las Vegas.
- 4:28Dayna Roselli: And you and I are going over to to interview the president on some of the changes that they've made over there and get an update on the property and the casino and what they're you know, what they're offering because they uh they've been turning around and filling up that hotel.
- 4:45Dayna Roselli: We're seeing more and more people through the doors.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: So I'm excited to talk to uh Cliff Atkinson about that.
- 4:51Dayna Roselli: We'll have that in a future episode, but we're doing that interview this month.
- 4:54Sean McAllister: And they've got a lot of music programming, great restaurants.
- 4:57Sean McAllister: It is a really nice property.
- 4:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: Well, let's talk F1 because we know that it's mixed reviews from locals, but uh, you know, some people get frustrated with the setup and the traffic, and there is a lot of that right now, that's for sure.
- 5:13Dayna Roselli: Um, but leading up to it, but there's some really cool things coming, and I think they've worked really hard to um bring things for locals and tourists, folks that are coming in for F1 and also have some things for people who live here, and that includes some free attractions.
- 5:29Sean McAllister: Yeah, and free is the best price you can get, especially, you know, a lot of people criticize ticket prices for F1 uh when it when they first rolled out, which they brought the prices down for um various ticket packages as well.
- 5:43Sean McAllister: But yeah, free is the best, and MGM resorts uh have obviously a lot of properties on the Las Vegas Strip, and pretty much every single one, not every single one, but a big handful right there in the heart of the strip are uh hosting these free activations, and a lot of them have actual F1 vehicles.
- 6:06Sean McAllister: The cars are right there as part of it.
- 6:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: We went over to ARIA because it was set up early and we got to see one of the cars and the Mer Mercedes activation, which is free.
- 6:15Sean McAllister: So cool.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: And you can actually drive one of the like cars when this like simulator.
- 6:21Sean McAllister: Which is not easy at all.
- 6:24Sean McAllister: No, I couldn't even get around.
- 6:26Sean McAllister: I there was one turn that I could not get around.
- 6:28Sean McAllister: Right.
- 6:29Sean McAllister: It crashed into the wall every single time.
- 6:31Dayna Roselli: You would yeah, you kept going and going.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: Finally, he was like, Oh, you should do this.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: And you're like, you know what?
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: I just kind of give up.
- 6:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm I'm not meant for this.
- 6:38Sean McAllister: I'm not meant to be an F1 driver, so I'll stick to the mean surface streets of Las Vegas.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 6:44Dayna Roselli: Well, we were over there, and you actually chatted with the executive director of citywide event strategy over at MGM Resorts International about some of the things that they're doing and why they've really gotten behind Formula One.
- 6:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was a good conversation.
- 6:58Sean McAllister: This is Alyssa Hink.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Well, actually, we are standing in the middle of one of our first free things that uh our guests are able to come join us with.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Uh, so here we have uh Mercedes has completely taken over our lobby here at ARIA.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Uh behind me is uh George Russell's car.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Um and uh just over off camera, you can uh participate in uh race simulators.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: We have really amazing merchandise and retail opportunities uh for the people who maybe came for the free and get inspired while they're here.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: This is just a sampling of what's to come.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Um beyond this, um over at Cosmopolitan, uh Team Hops will have their display of the show car as well as um some artifacts and paraphernalia from the drivers and the team principals throughout the years.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Um over at New York, New York on the Brooklyn Bridge, Team Williams will actually be taking that area over.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Uh that'll include appearances by uh some of the Williams team uh members as well as some ambassadors potentially.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Um so lots to do.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And most importantly, just coming down, especially as the race moves closer and stoking up the energy.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Vibes are always free.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: Well, I was gonna say, what does what do these types of activations do for the fans who come into town for the race and also for people who just happen to be in Vegas and are able to see these cars up close, see the merchandise, get in those simulator chairs.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: You know, uh it it's such a unique unique experience here in Las Vegas because we become a more diverse destination.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And now that sports is just in our DNA, uh in order to, you know, create experiences for our guests, and they really feed off of each other.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: So when you have a mass of people here, even if you know nothing about Formula One, there is no denying that is an incredibly cool car.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: And when lots of people are sitting here and enjoying how cool it is and how great everything feels and here to root for their favorite team or root for their favorite drivers, uh, you can't help but really just soak all that in and get excited yourself.
- 9:08Sean McAllister: And how important is it for MGM Resorts to offer these free activations for fans?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: It's it's important for us not only as a business, but also as members of the community.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Uh we are, you know, a part of Las Vegas, and we not only want our guests coming in to visit from out of town, but also our neighbors to come down and be able to celebrate this great thing for our city with us.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: And um, being able to sort of provide a gateway into that via these activations and these uh complimentary experiences is really such a privilege and uh so exciting for us.
- 9:50Dayna Roselli: They have a lot of things going on.
- 9:52Dayna Roselli: Something else going on over at the Bellagio is the shoey bar, and that is back.
- 9:58Dayna Roselli: This is iconic when it comes to Formula One races.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: It is.
- 10:01Sean McAllister: There is a specific driver who made it popular to, when you win, to actually take a drink of champagne out of the shoe that he was wearing while driving around the racetrack.
- 10:13Sean McAllister: I mean, at least it's his own shoe.
- 10:14Sean McAllister: It is his own shoe.
- 10:15Sean McAllister: There's a much more uh sanitary version, though, that's happening in Vegas.
- 10:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it is it's a tradition, it's really cool.
- 10:22Dayna Roselli: And MGM has unveiled um their shoey bar and what the shoe is gonna look like this year.
- 10:29Dayna Roselli: Really cool.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: Um, they change it every year, and so uh we got to see that.
- 10:34Dayna Roselli: If you look on our YouTube, you'll be able to see what it actually looks like or our social media, but it's beautiful, and they have a couple different things this year, too, that they're highlighting.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: So we talked to the executive director of brand marketing over at MGM Resorts International.
- 10:49Dayna Roselli: His name is Cole Nicodemus, and he walks us through what it's all about.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: Let's talk about the tradition of the shoey bar.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: It is a Formula One must.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: So the origination of the concept came from uh drivers celebrating when they win, they take off their shoe and actually drink out of it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Now we made a clean sanitary version of that and are selling drinks in actual F1 racing shoes.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: These are our classic shoeies, and um these ones are made with Fletch Azul, uh, margarita, and Red Bull, powered by Red Bull.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: And I think it's time that we do a shoey.
- 11:22Dayna Roselli: I think I'm ready.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Hold it by the heel and tilt it back.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: It's been extremely popular the last two years.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Uh we've had a lot of celebrities come through, Mark Wahlberg, Jeremy Renner, a bunch of different ones, um, but it is definitely a fan favorite.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: The line starts very early for the shoey bar.
- 11:39Dayna Roselli: And when you show up to the shoey bar, do you get a shoe right away?
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: How does it work?
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: What's the process?
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: So when you get to shoey bar, there's a line, but we have a live band and a DJ that actually perform to entertain the group.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: Uh you wait in line and eventually you get up there and you get to order a shoe.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: And the great thing is you get to take that shoe home and wear it around your neck as kind of your prize for the rest of the weekend.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Tell me about the special helmet deal this year.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: Uh, there's only a limited amount.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: Yes, so we only have 30 of these, and they are actual F1 racing helmets that we have inverted upside down, made a custom insert that actually makes a punch bowl that is drinkable by four to five people.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Last year we introduced a couple new um things to the shoey bar that are kind of playing off of the tradition of drinking from a shoe.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: So we took a standard shot ski, put shoes on it, and created the shoe ski, and it's for a group of three to four to um take a shot together.
- 12:30SPEAKER_01: We have tons of activations across.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: Shoey's just one of them.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Uh, shoey bar is also the main starting point to going down to the Bellagio Fountain Club, which is our premium product for the F1 race.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: There are only 1,500 shoes this year.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Um, they are all numbered, so your shoe is individual to you.
- 12:50Dayna Roselli: And is Shuey Bar only open on the day of the race?
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: It is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: Gotta get there quick.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: We open up um 11 to noon is actually for our Gold Plus MGM rewards members, and then from noon on is for the general public.
- 13:04Sean McAllister: So all of that F1 racing action is going to take place from November 20th through the 22nd.
- 13:12Sean McAllister: So if you want to get in on uh some of the deals, whatever, uh that's the time to do it.
- 13:18Sean McAllister: Or if you're out of town, you can watch on TV and it'll bring you right to the heart of Las Vegas.
- 13:24Dayna Roselli: It's always exciting, right?
- 13:25Sean McAllister: The best looking F1 race there is, I think.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: That's so true.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: When even when you were driving that simulator, I was like watching because they use the Las Vegas track.
- 13:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:34Sean McAllister: And it's kind of cool to see all the things you drive by and well, and when I went to the viewing party uh at that F1 arcade for the race in Austin, they run that during the day.
- 13:44Sean McAllister: And it's on a track that is built specifically for that race.
- 13:48Sean McAllister: So you're not driving through the streets of Austin.
- 13:52Sean McAllister: And here you're driving through Las Vegas down the Las Vegas strip at night with the lights on.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's I wonder if it's distracting for the drivers.
- 14:00Dayna Roselli: It's just probably a different kind.
- 14:03Sean McAllister: At least they're all distracted.
- 14:04Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:05Sean McAllister: True and true.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: There's no advantage.
- 14:07Dayna Roselli: It's not like they shut the strip lights off for when certain drivers.
- 14:10Sean McAllister: No, that's not allowed.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, let's go back to free.
- 14:14Dayna Roselli: The Neon City Festival is back too.
- 14:17Dayna Roselli: And this is November 21st to the 23rd.
- 14:20Dayna Roselli: So it's over that kind of stretch of F1 days.
- 14:23Dayna Roselli: They started this last year and it's back.
- 14:26Dayna Roselli: It's a free music festival, a culinary festival, too, uh, arts, culture.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: And the city puts this on in order to make sure that, again, people that live here have something to do if they're not into actually going to the race or they want to do something in the day and then go at night.
- 14:44Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's another option.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: It is.
- 14:46Sean McAllister: And so this takes over a big chunk of downtown Las Vegas and turns it into a giant festival ground, essentially, uh, including stages for some of the headlining bands that are coming to town for this.
- 15:00Sean McAllister: We're talking about a good Charlotte, Dead Mouse, the famous DJ.
- 15:05Sean McAllister: He's the one with like the Mickey Mouse looking head.
- 15:08Dayna Roselli: He's good.
- 15:08Sean McAllister: Breaking Benjamin will be here along with two friends, Fits in the Tantrums, and Bowling for Soup.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: I've heard of them.
- 15:16Dayna Roselli: I've never seen them are they good?
- 15:18Sean McAllister: Yes, they're great.
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: I'm just reading their songs.
- 15:21Dayna Roselli: Oh, yeah, I know them.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: And then De LaSole.
- 15:24Dayna Roselli: Now that's my jam from high school.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: So yeah, and that's just like literally the tip of the iceberg.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: Those are the big headlining apps.
- 15:33Sean McAllister: So much more.
- 15:34Sean McAllister: And lots of different music genres, too.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:36Dayna Roselli: And this is all ages.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: So don't worry.
- 15:38Dayna Roselli: You can bring the family.
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: Um, so it just they have a lot of really cool stuff going on.
- 15:43Dayna Roselli: Um activations.
- 15:46Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 15:46Dayna Roselli: We may need to check this out this year.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: We couldn't make it last year.
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: I forgot what we had going on, but um, it sounds like a lot of fun.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: It does.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: And anytime that there's a festival downtown, like it's just a cool vibe too.
- 15:58Sean McAllister: And it's different than being on the strip.
- 16:00Sean McAllister: It's much more chill.
- 16:02Sean McAllister: Like the life is beautiful when that takes over.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: You know, you're just walking around the streets with fun activations that are just pop up when you turn around the corner.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: It's it's a good vibe.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: And we've had great weather this fall.
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: I hope it sticks for F1 and it's warm in the day, like, you know, 60s and sunny, 70s and sunny.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: Um, it should be.
- 16:22Dayna Roselli: Hey, also, um, paired with that, the um after parties uh are taking place over at Excess.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: And they're doing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 16:33Dayna Roselli: And they have the Chain Smokers on Friday at Excess at the Wyn.
- 16:37Dayna Roselli: They have Odessa and Saturday, and on Sunday they have Diplo and Marshmallow.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: Oh, that's a good lineup.
- 16:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so they um kind of partnered with Neon City Festival, and after party tickets can be purchased at winnightlife.com.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: So that part's not free.
- 16:56Sean McAllister: So man, I mean, and uh uh Dana, I think you mentioned this a little earlier.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: This is just the tip of the iceberg in what's going on for F1, connected to F1, everywhere you go pretty much is going to have some sort of F1 thing happening.
- 17:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: Hey, and let's keep with XS for a second.
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: They just announced Calvin Harris as a headliner there.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: He's gonna be doing a few dates.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: He's returning.
- 17:21Dayna Roselli: Calvin Harris is great.
- 17:23Dayna Roselli: He's so good.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: He is.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: So he's doing January 16th, February 13th, and February 21st at XS Nightclub.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: If you want to see Calvin Harris, good to have him back.
- 17:33Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is.
- 17:34Sean McAllister: I feel like this is a big return for Calvin Harris.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: I mean it's hard to keep up because I don't hit the clubs too much, but I love me a good DJ.
- 17:42Dayna Roselli: And I know Calvin Harris is amazing.
- 17:44Dayna Roselli: I think I used to go to Omnia a couple times, and I was like, impressive.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: Wasn't he dating Taylor Swift for like a hot minute?
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: He was at him?
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: That was scandalous.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: That was.
- 17:56Sean McAllister: That was a it was a little bit of a blip.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: It was a blip.
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: Um, let's talk about Leona Lewis's new show, Ed Voltaire, because this is a holiday show.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: I think we told you about it here on the podcast.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: And Sean and I went to a preview night.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: So gosh, this is let's see, when this podcast comes out, it's November 13th.
- 18:15Dayna Roselli: I think we went October 30th?
- 18:17Sean McAllister: October, yeah.
- 18:20Sean McAllister: October 30th, yeah.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Before she kicked off on November 1st.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: And she's got so many shows for the next couple months, uh, November and December.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: So I think she even has like one or two in January.
- 18:31Dayna Roselli: But anyway, let's talk about this show.
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: So uh first of all, Leona sounded incredible.
- 18:36Sean McAllister: She has such an incredible voice, she really does.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she really does.
- 18:40Dayna Roselli: And she looked beautiful and just excited to be in Las Vegas with her own show.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: Voltaire, as we always say, is stunning.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: Um, but we thought that it because it was a holiday show, that it would be a little more holiday.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: I just thought a little more holiday, and then Sean, you said no, I thought like Christmas was gonna throw up on me.
- 18:59Sean McAllister: Well, that's what I expect.
- 19:00Sean McAllister: Like when I go to uh Las Vegas production, a residency show that's like a holiday show.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: I, you know, in my mind, I'm going like full roquettes.
- 19:13Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 19:14Sean McAllister: Santa coming out to wave to everybody, people in, you know, dancers in tight velour brown reindeer suits with the antlers on the head.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: This was not that.
- 19:26Sean McAllister: No, this was a much more um I'll call it like a refined and jazzy kind of Christmas.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Jazzy.
- 19:35Dayna Roselli: That's a good jazzy description.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:38Dayna Roselli: It was a jazzy holiday show.
- 19:41Dayna Roselli: Um there were some pretty trees decorated in the back, and the stage was very pretty, beautiful with the band and the whole nine, but it was more jazzy than super holiday.
- 19:52Dayna Roselli: She does uh does sing some holiday songs um wonderfully, by the way.
- 19:57Dayna Roselli: I think she was half yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
- 20:00Dayna Roselli: That brought a little tear to my eye, actually.
- 20:02Dayna Roselli: She was really beautiful, yeah.
- 20:03Dayna Roselli: And the piano player.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: I mean, so there's some amazing highlights.
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: She sings her biggest hit that hit the radio in the US.
- 20:11Sean McAllister: Bleeding love.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: Everyone was waiting for it, and she did it.
- 20:14Sean McAllister: She did.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: And she slowly walked down the catwalk, and everyone got, you know, it was a whole thing.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: That was great.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: Um, but it just, I don't know.
- 20:22Dayna Roselli: I it yeah, it I I just we didn't want to steer people to like this is like a big old holiday show and it's gonna put it does snow at one point.
- 20:32Sean McAllister: It does.
- 20:33Dayna Roselli: But that was about it.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, and you know, it's still a it's a she's a great singer, like we said.
- 20:42Sean McAllister: And it's a it's a great show.
- 20:46Sean McAllister: And I think going into it thinking it's like a a jazzy, a jazzy holiday um I'm trying to think of how to describe like a a classy hang.
- 21:00Sean McAllister: Yeah like you're gonna go sip a mart sip a martini in a beautiful environment, hear some good jazz music with some holiday m songs mixed in, that's what you're gonna get in there.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the very true.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: And so, and I think that's why they have the previews and we're the media, and now we can tell people that.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: They know what to expect.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 21:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, not saying don't go, it just might not be what what you know.
- 21:24Sean McAllister: It's not a very berry Christmas.
- 21:26Dayna Roselli: It's not a very berry.
- 21:28Dayna Roselli: I mean, he comes out in the full sleigh with Santa.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: I mean, that is all out.
- 21:32Sean McAllister: And you know, he's like the sequin Santa smoking jacket and berry.
- 21:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, that's yeah, Christmas.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: That's Christmas.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: I mean, there is something you know about putting on a Vegas show.
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: You've got to be able to storytell, get the audience involved, and all that.
- 21:49Dayna Roselli: And I think also I think Leona's great at taking feedback, and that's why she had some preview shows.
- 21:53Dayna Roselli: So I think she's gonna make some tweaks, probably, yeah, as well.
- 21:56Dayna Roselli: So what we're saying right now might be a little different if.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: You go see Leona.
- 22:01Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:02Sean McAllister: But yeah, so she's going to be there over at Voltaire.
- 22:05Sean McAllister: I think, is it 30 shows that she's doing?
- 22:08Dayna Roselli: I don't know the number, but a lot.
- 22:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, she's doing a lot of shows.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: Um, Mariah Carey's coming to Park MGM.
- 22:13Dayna Roselli: I know I think we mentioned it on the audio podcast.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: So another holiday show.
- 22:17Dayna Roselli: And I know a lot of people are excited about this.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: And also uh we are gonna go see that, but also wanted to mention that there's a pop-up like cocktail bar experience happening at On the Record at Park MGM too.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: We don't have all the details yet, but she's doing it in a few cities.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: I think there was one in New York, but now it's like New York.
- 22:37Sean McAllister: New York, LA, Miami, and Vegas.
- 22:39Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: So we were we're on the list.
- 22:42Sean McAllister: We're on the list.
- 22:43Dayna Roselli: It'll be perfect to see her and then go right down to On the Record.
- 22:46Sean McAllister: Yes, on the record, just across the casino floor from uh the Dolby Live Theater uh over there at Park MGM, and there's supposed to be uh a bunch of different photo ops, holiday photo ops in there, some special cocktails.
- 23:01Sean McAllister: Of course, you're gonna have you know music going on in there.
- 23:05Sean McAllister: And on the record is like a speakeasy club that's um up there over at Park MGM.
- 23:11Dayna Roselli: They even have a karaoke room in there.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: They have a lot of different little yeah, that's a cool little room.
- 23:15Sean McAllister: And a entire space.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, like with a bus outside and we're recording this before I go to see New Kids on the Block.
- 23:22Dayna Roselli: We're actually recording early because I have six girlfriends coming in.
- 23:26Dayna Roselli: Um, and so we're like, we need to get a little bit ahead.
- 23:28Dayna Roselli: Um, but FYI, New Kids doing the same thing with the Papa, but I was looking on the record for after the show and I forgot.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: I hadn't been there in so long, and I was thinking, oh, they do have a patio and they do have the floor and they have the karaoke room and they have the you know lots of little nooks and crannies.
- 23:43Sean McAllister: It's a fun, it's a fun space up there.
- 23:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it really is.
- 23:46Dayna Roselli: Um speaking of new kids, uh an announcement came out.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: Well, this is dropping on the 13th, on the 12th.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: So we are shooting this ahead so we don't have the answer to what that is, but we're gonna have more on that because we will be at the announcement.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: We'll talk to the new kids, we'll have more details.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: And they're coming back in February, and they got shows this weekend too.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: So they're back in February, so they're doing uh an announcement that might coincide with that.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: Maybe it's Valentine's Day related.
- 24:16Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 24:16Sean McAllister: But it'll be good to see the guys.
- 24:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it'll be good.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: I'm excited to see the show.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: Um, I haven't seen them in a little while, and I always just it's always like the best night of my life when I go see the new kids because you forget how joyous they are and how their music just brings you back.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: I saw them at Mandalay Bay last, I think, in the event center there.
- 24:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they were doing a show.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: Oh, the mixtape tour.
- 24:40Dayna Roselli: I think it was a mixtape tour.
- 24:41Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's right.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: Oh no, we saw them at iHeart.
- 24:44Dayna Roselli: No, you saw them at iHeart.
- 24:45Dayna Roselli: I couldn't go that night.
- 24:46Dayna Roselli: Right, right.
- 24:47Sean McAllister: So it'll be fun to hear about the residency because I'm I'm excited to get over there at some point to see it too.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, and I've got some diehards coming in from my friend Jeff.
- 24:57Dayna Roselli: He's an Uber driver.
- 24:58Sean McAllister: He always makes it fun too.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's an Uber driver in Nashville, and he talks about new kids all the time.
- 25:02Dayna Roselli: So now all the blockheads are following him, and he's got this whole following.
- 25:06Dayna Roselli: So, like when we go, all these people he met on TikTok are probably gonna be there.
- 25:10Dayna Roselli: He's gonna be famous.
- 25:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's great, it is great.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: So um, I'm excited.
- 25:15Dayna Roselli: I think he's got some sparkles going and the whole nine for his new kids shirt.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: That's perfect.
- 25:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, it'll be amazing.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: Um, well, let's talk Thanksgiving and tips right now.
- 25:30Sean McAllister: So uh Thanksgiving obviously coming right up on us here, and I am one of the people, Dana, who loves to get up early, like do the whole bird, all the prep, get all the side dishes.
- 25:43Dayna Roselli: So the smells through the house.
- 25:44Sean McAllister: Yeah, I don't know.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: There's just something about that that I absolutely love to do.
- 25:49Sean McAllister: However, I realize that not everybody loves to do that.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they don't.
- 25:54Sean McAllister: It's a lot easier sometimes to have somebody else take care of it for you.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Or you're busy.
- 25:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: You just don't.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: I mean, it used to be back in the day, let's be honest.
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: You were off for the week.
- 26:05Sean McAllister: That is true.
- 26:06Dayna Roselli: Thanksgiving.
- 26:07Dayna Roselli: You were off for the week of, you know, Christmas and the week after.
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's so different now with people A owning their own business, B, doing hustle and sidework.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: A lot of the things that they cover and do and have to be a part of are happening during the holiday.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: You can't take off.
- 26:22Sean McAllister: And there's a lot of parents who have kids in sports, and there's so many like kids' sports tournaments over Thanksgiving.
- 26:33Sean McAllister: On Thanksgiving.
- 26:35Sean McAllister: It makes me mad.
- 26:36Sean McAllister: I never, I don't think I ever remember any of my friends growing up having like sports things.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: No, like a tournament like that.
- 26:46Sean McAllister: Like everything was like shut down.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 26:49Dayna Roselli: That's how it used to be, even for like even summertime.
- 26:52Dayna Roselli: Now the kids are practicing all summer long.
- 26:55Dayna Roselli: Not just like the few weeks leading up to school.
- 26:57Dayna Roselli: It's like summer practice starts, like all summer, and parents are trying to, you know, do family vacations and they can't.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: But anyway.
- 27:05Sean McAllister: Sidebar.
- 27:06Dayna Roselli: Sidebar.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: A lot of people don't like to cook.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: So we've got two options for you.
- 27:13Dayna Roselli: We've got one that's more, we think, uh, middle of the road for folks that love a good old Brio Italian grill, which I do.
- 27:21Sean McAllister: That's a good spot.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: I go to the one at Town Square.
- 27:23Dayna Roselli: I go to that one at Town Square a lot.
- 27:25Dayna Roselli: I think there's another, or there are a couple in town or three.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: Maybe one of them closed.
- 27:29Dayna Roselli: Regardless, Brio's doing a Thanksgiving meal, and I love this.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: They're doing a Thanksgiving feast to dine in or to go.
- 27:36Dayna Roselli: So they are going to be open on Thanksgiving Day.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: So that's great.
- 27:41Dayna Roselli: And they have a menu that includes roasted, sliced white turkey meat, home style gravy, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, Italian sausage stuffing, pumpkin pie.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: That's all you need.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: All the trimmings.
- 27:51Sean McAllister: That's great.
- 27:51Sean McAllister: And the fact that they're doing to go orders for that is a really good idea.
- 27:57Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 27:57Sean McAllister: All you do is like take that stuff out, put it in your own bowls, and no one will ever know that you didn't cook.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 28:05Dayna Roselli: Nobody.
- 28:06Dayna Roselli: So there's a great idea.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: So don't share it with whoever's going to be at the dinner.
- 28:10Dayna Roselli: But um, and then eating in too.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: Sometimes it's easier to just go and eat there.
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: Or there's people who are single or don't have big families or kids.
- 28:19Dayna Roselli: Vegas has a lot of that because we have a lot of industry workers.
- 28:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, I like going out to a restaurant like on an actual holiday.
- 28:26Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 28:26Sean McAllister: We do that a lot on Christmas.
- 28:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you we're saying that you do that.
- 28:29Dayna Roselli: I know um every year.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: And this year, uh, for Thanksgiving Day, Berry's is also open at circa.
- 28:35Dayna Roselli: So this is a little bit more on the higher priced side than Brio, but it's open from 4 to 9 p.m.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: They're gonna have dinner specials.
- 28:44Dayna Roselli: Um, their spread includes like a butternut squash soup, they have an organic turkey dinner, roast prime rib dinner, traditional stuffing, um, pumpkin cheesecake.
- 28:55Dayna Roselli: But the prices are pretty good, you know.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: Um not, I mean, like you can get that well, the butternut nut squash soup 17 bucks, but you can get the organic turkey dinner, which is a classic dish featuring both white and dark meat, mashed potatoes, traditional stuffing, baby carrots, cranberry sauce, and turkey gravy for 79 bucks.
- 29:16Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: So um, anyway.
- 29:18Sean McAllister: And that'll be per serving.
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: So lots lots of options if you want to go out to dinner and and maybe it's a you know, special evening for you on Thanksgiving.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: They are doing to go stuff too.
- 29:30Dayna Roselli: I didn't include it in here because I know you gotta like order ahead and this and that.
- 29:33Sean McAllister: And so, like, and there's deadlines and all that, all that.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: But you can go to Berry's online and look at all the details.
- 29:39Sean McAllister: I like a good, you know what?
- 29:41Sean McAllister: I have not had a prime rib dinner, a proper prime rib dinner in a really long time.
- 29:47Sean McAllister: Maybe that's gonna be the Christmas dinner this year.
- 29:49Sean McAllister: Maybe go out for a nice prime rib.
- 29:51Sean McAllister: I like a good creamy horseradish.
- 29:52Sean McAllister: Me too.
- 29:54Sean McAllister: My grandpa used to make his own horseradish, uh-huh, and it was the kind of stuff that would clear your head out for a year and a half.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: So good though, right?
- 30:02Dayna Roselli: Whenever you have a congestion, people don't realize.
- 30:04Dayna Roselli: Just have a little horseradish.
- 30:05Sean McAllister: Like good, strong stuff.
- 30:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: Sometimes I get the kind in the bottle just to add on to things, and I'm like, why don't I do this more?
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: Like it's such a good ad to sandwiches and stuff.
- 30:14Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: Another side note there.
- 30:18Dayna Roselli: Okay, so a couple of Thanksgiving options for you.
- 30:20Dayna Roselli: Uh both Brio and Berry's gonna be open.
- 30:23Dayna Roselli: A lot of restaurants will be open because we are a tourist town.
- 30:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:26Dayna Roselli: And we do have a strip that's still thriving in restaurants and hotel casinos.
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: So a lot of options out there, but there's two for you.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 30:34Sean McAllister: Hey, thanks for joining us this week, next week.
- 30:38Sean McAllister: Uh, Dana, I can't wait to hear about the new kids experience and everything associated with that.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: All sorts of stuff.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: I got my friends going to Wizard of Oz.
- 30:45Dayna Roselli: We're gonna be doing a lot of different stuff, so I'll, you know, keep you posted.
- 30:48Sean McAllister: And I'm going to stay uh at Wynn for the weekend coming up.
- 30:53Sean McAllister: So I'm sure that I'll have uh some stories there.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: Just, you know, yeah, a little staycation.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: Good, that'll be nice.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: And I might see you there with my friends because we've got some plans to go to the uh Lake of Dreams.
- 31:05Sean McAllister: Oh, that's so and yes, let's plan on meeting up at the Lake of Dreams.
- 31:10Dayna Roselli: Lake of Dreams.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: See you there.
- 31:12Dayna Roselli: Have a great week, everyone.
