- 0:12Hello, friends. How are you?
- 0:14Sean here. We're going to read the Bible
- 0:16today. How was that?
- 0:19What did that sound? Nonplussed enough?
- 0:22A bunch of you have said, Ah, Sean, are you always that
- 0:25chipper? Seriously, you can't be that
- 0:26chipper all the time. I I would love to hear you just
- 0:29start. Really.
- 0:30Just not interested at all. So there you go.
- 0:33That was my not interested start.
- 0:35It wasn't from the heart, but I thought I'd let you know what it
- 0:38might sound like if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
- 0:42But even if I did wake up on the wrong side of the bed, by the
- 0:45time I get here to the microphone ready to talk to you
- 0:48and read God's Word, things are looking up.
- 0:52But if there's one thing that this biblical narrative shows
- 0:55us, it's that life naturally has the full swings, that full ebbs
- 1:00and flows of the good days and the bad, the high points and the
- 1:04low. And all of them are OK.
- 1:06All of them are legitimate because that is the way life is,
- 1:11and God gets that. And we read about it in God's
- 1:14Word. Whatever is happening in your
- 1:16day, let us put it down. Let us settle and still our
- 1:21hearts as we come before our mighty God.
- 1:25And we pray that you, Holy Spirit, would reveal something
- 1:31of yourself to us today as we learn more about you.
- 1:36In your word, well, there's nothing left to do but to read.
- 1:42Join me as we read together. Isaiah Chapter 18
- 1:57Listen Ethiopia, land of fluttering sails that lies at
- 2:02the headwaters of the Nile, that sends ambassadors and swift
- 2:07boats down the river. Go swift messengers.
- 2:11Take a message to the tall, smooth skinned people who are
- 2:16feared far and wide for their conquests and destruction, and
- 2:20whose land is divided by rivers. All you people of the world,
- 2:26everyone who lives on the earth. When I raise my battle flag on
- 2:30the mountain, look when I blow the ram's horn.
- 2:35Listen, for the Lord has told me this.
- 2:39I will watch quietly from my dwelling place as quietly as the
- 2:44heat rises on a summer day or as the morning dew forms during the
- 2:49harvest, even before you begin your attack.
- 2:53While your plans are ripening like grapes, the Lord will cut
- 2:57off your new growth with pruning shears.
- 3:00He will snip off and discard your spreading branches.
- 3:04Your mighty army will be left dead in their fields for the
- 3:08mountain vultures and wild animals.
- 3:11The vultures will tear at the corpses all summer.
- 3:15The wild animals will gnaw at the bones all winter.
- 3:19At that time the Lord of Heaven's armies will receive
- 3:23gifts from this land divided by rivers.
- 3:27From this tall, smooth skinned people who are feared far and
- 3:31wide for their conquests and destruction, they will bring the
- 3:35gifts to Jerusalem where the Lord of Heaven's armies dwells.
- 3:51Lord, as we hear these words of judgments, as we hear that this
- 3:56nation will be used to bring about your Roth, we get that
- 4:01some days are going to be good days and other days are not
- 4:05going to be great. But your hand of provision and
- 4:09your presence is with us through those highs and those lows.
- 4:14So, Lord, I pray that we would always know that no matter what
- 4:19shape our day is taking, that you are sovereign, that your
- 4:23plans for us are good, and that they are eternal, and that
- 4:28whatever goes wrong in the here and now, you have already
- 4:32conquered the eternal. And you draw us ever closer to
- 4:37that day when we will see you face to face and be filled to
- 4:41overflowing with your love and your presence.
- 4:46And we will feel nothing, that glorious gratitude and
- 4:50overwhelming joy that our wonderful, beautiful God.
- 4:55So we just love you and we thank you.
- 4:58And it's in Jesus name that we pray.
- 5:01Amen.
