Two Ex-Corrections Officers Now Behind Bars | Birmingham News
Two former Blount County corrections officers, now behind bars, face felony murder and assault charges after an inmate died following a taser incident while in diabetic ketoacidosis. The 23-year-old inmate, serving a short sentence for a DUI-related contempt charge, died at a hospital after being tased. Both officers—26-year-old Joseph Michael Blaine Evans and 19-year-old Liletzy Valdez Carbajal—were arrested and booked into the very jail they once worked at.
