- 0:17And here we go. It's the second hour of show five thousand and three
- 0:24of the Morning Show with Preston's got great to be with you this morning.
- 0:28That's Grant Allen run in the radio program and taking your calls at eight five
- 0:33zero two zero five w f l A, getting emails in, got calls
- 0:40standing by next half hour, just asking what is your favorite w D forty
- 0:46life hack and share one or two of your favorite uses beyond the obvious.
- 0:53I mean, we know it's a lubricant, and we know that it's kind
- 0:57of a protectant in certain but there are allegedly thousands of uses for this stuff.
- 1:04I'll get to some emails coming in as well, but first let's go
- 1:08to the phone lines. And standing by waiting to share is Rutledge. Hello,
- 1:14welcome to the Morning Show. Good morning Preston. You can use WD
- 1:19forty to remove tree sap from your vehicle. You've used w D forty for
- 1:26tree SAPs successfully? Huh? Absolutely? How long does it take you?
- 1:33If you have a big thing of tree sap normally pine sap on your vehicle,
- 1:37you can spray the WD forty on it, wipe it with a microfiber
- 1:41cloth and it comes off with a matter of seconds. Interesting, I've had
- 1:46more success with good old rubbing alcohol with tree sap. Well that works too,
- 1:53But you use so any other uses that you've found and did you find
- 1:57it accidentally or did you hear about it? No? I'm a mechanic by
- 2:01trade. Okay, who I always grabbed the closest thing to me, and
- 2:05it's usually w forty. I also use w D forty to remove the water
- 2:12out of my distributor on my older vehicles. Okay, there you go,
- 2:15because it is a water displacement. Yeah, very good, nice, thank
- 2:21you, rad. Let's appreciate the phone call. My friend freeze up the
- 2:23line eight five zero two zero five w FLA, George, good morning,
- 2:29Good morning, Preston. How are you, sir? I'm terrific, So
- 2:31tell me about your w D forty lifehacks. I've got two. One is
- 2:37really cool. The other is as cool as well as us fun to watch.
- 2:42But the first one is to spread on the underneath your lawnmower and the
- 2:51grass that you know, the dried grass, the muck. You get a
- 2:54fund of their right it won't stick and that works. And uh, fellow
- 3:00that owns the lawnmower shop cells and repairs and all told me about that one.
- 3:07And you you know, you spread it under you know, two or
- 3:10three or four times a year. But it works because even with a good
- 3:15power hose, it's hard to get that stuff off and then it'll lead to
- 3:20rust. So so do you just do you wipe it in? I mean,
- 3:23obviously you've got a clean underdeck before you spray it on, But but
- 3:28do you wipe it in or you just spray it and leave it and head
- 3:30it off? You go, you just spray it and leave it and and
- 3:34uh, let it it'll it'll it won't dry completely. But like the w
- 3:38D stands for in WD forties, water displacement and uh, it doesn't allow
- 3:44it to stick and it doesn't allow the wet grass to I guess coagulate and
- 3:49uh, but it works. What else? And the other is you you
- 3:53know, people who have made millions on on trying to keep quarrels off your
- 4:00bird fader the poles. That's the fun one, and it works. Do
- 4:04the same thing. I do the same thing. That's hilarious. It is
- 4:11fun to watch it is. It is fun to watch because they get so
- 4:15frustrated. Yeah, yeah, that's that's my fun one, that's my entertaining
- 4:19one. This is the m a D Radio Network where we challenge you to
- 4:25make a difference in your world. M A D again it, you know,
- 4:30try to make a positive influence upon others. You know, yeah,
- 4:34be a good person. But the morning show Preston Scott Letting minutes after the
- 4:43hour, taking your calls and your emails. Preston at iHeartRadio dot com.
- 4:49Your favorite uses for w D forty, George shared a an actual use that
- 4:57creates some entertainment value. And that is especially when you watch a squirrel jump
- 5:02to a pole holding a bird feeder and they grab it and then they just
- 5:06start sliding down. It's just funny to watch. Let's go to Vann,
- 5:14who's been standing by. Good morning, Welcome, Hey you there, Yes,
- 5:19sir, Good morning, Preston. This is a w D forty hack
- 5:25that I don't suggest nor recommend. However, the elderly gentleman from whom I
- 5:29learned it or by it. I had a girlfriend in high school and we
- 5:32were visiting her grandparents one day, and I watched her grandfather take the canna
- 5:36w D forty while sitting in his lounge chair and sprayed it on his knees
- 5:40and rubbed it in. And I went to my girlfriend and I said,
- 5:45your grandfather spraying w forty on vs. It's he all right? And she
- 5:49says he's been doing that for years. He swears by it. He says
- 5:53it helps his knees, he gets up, walks around, and it does
- 5:57what it claims to do. It lubricates rusty hard the moves going. I'm
- 6:04so glad you gave that disclaimer on the front end. I do not recommend
- 6:09what I'm about to share with you. Oh my goodness, gracious, that's
- 6:13hilaric. Did you have you ever broken down and just tried it on Anankee
- 6:15joint? Uh? No, because he has a warning on there this has
- 6:20contains petroleum. Just lets you not to drink swallow, you know, let
- 6:25him the war got you, Van, Thanks very much, I appreciate that.
- 6:30Let's go to Dan. Hello, Dan, thanks for calling in your
- 6:33w D forty life hack or hacks. Hey, you're more impressed on.
- 6:38My daughters used w D forty to remove the tangles out of horses manes and
- 6:43tails for twenty years, so almost like a conditioner for horsehair exactly. It
- 6:53works on work in the tangles snarls loose to tornadoes that get in the mains
- 6:58and it leaves a nice loos thing shine and after you wash them it's just
- 7:01soft and silky. Wow. So they spray it, brush out the tangles
- 7:09or whatever, and then wash it out. Don't leave it in there,
- 7:12ye, No, you can leave it in I mean I buy it six
- 7:15or eight cans at a time. Sure. Now my grandkids are using it
- 7:18when doing the horses. That's amazing. I love it. Anything any other
- 7:25uses well, I have used it to work on uh, take a lighter
- 7:32and put in front of it to spray to knock out a wash desk or
- 7:35hornet's desk from a distance. That's your flamethrower. Huh yeah, thanks very
- 7:43much, Dan, I appreciate you you're sharing that. Let's go to Paul.
- 7:46Hey Paul, thanks for calling in from the distance. That's your flame
- 7:50throw. Hey Paul, turned down your radio, buddy, Hey you there?
- 7:55Yeah, you gotta to keep your radio turned down, brother, I
- 7:58got it. I'm just call in about w D forty for sure. And
- 8:03the us I have best for it other than lubricating wrenches and uh and bolts
- 8:09is the I use it for a killer of both wood wood boring are the
- 8:22wood boring wasp And the other thing I use it for is if you get
- 8:26any kind of a fighter up in a hole, you can spray up in
- 8:31there. You'll kill him, but it sure kills anything that's woodbearing and any
- 8:35of the that type of bees. Thank you, Paul, I appreciate the
- 8:41phone call, my friend. Yeah, eight five zero two zero five w
- 8:43FLA is the number. We'll take some more calls here in a minute.
- 8:50Spraying it on any wood handled tool keeps the wood conditioned. It acts as
- 8:56a repellent so that moisture doesn't get in and start to rot the wood away
- 9:01and cause splinters. That's that's a use. He talked about spiders and bugs.
- 9:07If you've got a corners and things, Apparently it keeps spiders from wanting
- 9:13to get anywhere near an area that's got WD forty sprayed on it. It's
- 9:18also been used too well to cause certain beasties to move on. For example,
- 9:26allegedly, a boa constrictor was found in an engine block. The guy
- 9:30sprayed WD forty in there, and the snake left. I'm just saying I've
- 9:37got some very practical uses, not so avant Garde to share. It's been
- 9:43used by law enforcement to get a thief out of an air conditioning duct when
- 9:48he got stuck. That's a natural lubricant. It's allegedly great to take gum
- 9:56out of hair or off of shoes. Anything you've got on the bottom of
- 10:03your shoe, you scrape it off. Anything left, you spray with w
- 10:07D forty and it just helps it come right off. W f LA on
- 10:11your phone with the iHeart Radio app and on hundreds of devices like Alexa,
- 10:16Google Home, Xbox and Sonos and Ihearts Radio season you can use w D
- 10:24forty to loosen stubborn lego pieces. We're talking about life hacks with w D
- 10:31forty. Taking your calls and callers are standing by. Let's go to Gary.
- 10:37Gary, thanks for calling into the Morning Show with Freston Scott. What
- 10:41are your life hacks with w D forty. Well over twenty years ago.
- 10:46I don't even know if Field of Stream still has a magazine, but I
- 10:48read in there that you can spray w D forty on your bait and fish
- 10:54and the oil actually extended the scent of the bait and help the fish.
- 11:00I tried it. It worked, really Yeah, dude, I'm so desperate
- 11:05to catch fish, I might take it by the gallon and dump it on
- 11:09my fish on my bait. I thought about when I was thinking about that,
- 11:18I know you're always talking about you can't catch fish. Yeah, I
- 11:20catch a cold easier than I could catch fish. All right, buddy,
- 11:24thank you so w D forty on your bait. Yes, and it worked
- 11:30for you, it did. I'm wondering do you think fish and Wildlife would
- 11:35have an issue with throwing that in the water. Well? It was Infield
- 11:39and Stream magazine. Okay, the article interesting. They're all about, you
- 11:46know, the outdoors. Yeah, yeah, protecting the environment, no doubt.
- 11:50Gary, Thanks very much. I appreciate that one. Roger, where'd
- 11:52you go? Let's go to Jody. Hey, Jody, thanks for calling
- 11:56in. Hey, Preston, Yeah, I got three quick ones. I
- 12:00learned this one from a guy years ago on the job site. He was
- 12:05painting and I was like, what are you doing. He sprang the WD
- 12:07forty on the glass well on a rag and he wipes it on the glass.
- 12:11So when he paints, if he gets any on the glass, it
- 12:13doesn't stick it just you can just wipe it right off. Oh wow,
- 12:20okay, yep. You can also use it to take off you know stubborn
- 12:24stickers that have been on there for years, right that it loosens that gummy
- 12:28stuff right up and just just sprugs right off. And the final one would
- 12:33be the front of your car. You can spray it on there, just
- 12:35put a little rag and kind of wipe it on there. Because it is
- 12:37love bug season. You just wipe it on there and built they won't stick.
- 12:45I'm glad you shared that one, Jody, because that was on my
- 12:48list. Thanks so much for calling in and sharing yours. Yeah, spray
- 12:52it on your grill and the front of your car, the headlights, lamps,
- 12:58bumper. Wipe it on there and they won't stick, and if they
- 13:03do, they come off easy. That's that's that was good, especially seasonally
- 13:09good, very seasonal. Phone called there. Let's go to deb Hi Dab,
- 13:11thanks for calling in. Good morning. What you got. Well,
- 13:18we have two things we use it for. I use it in the kitchen
- 13:22to clean the outside surfaces of my stainless steel appliances. It works great and
- 13:28it's a lot cheaper than stainless steel cleaner. And then my husband uses it
- 13:33similar to what George said with the squirrels. We have trouble with ants getting
- 13:37in our hummingbird feeders. But if you spray the pole with w D forty,
- 13:43the ants can't march up the pole. Really even works on the ants.
- 13:46I knew it worked on the squirrels because of their weight. I wasn't
- 13:50sure about ants. Yeah, but you have to spray after it rains because
- 13:54they are tenacious little butters, those ants. Yeah, no kidding. Hey,
- 13:58let me ask you a question when you talk about your stainless steel appliances,
- 14:01because I saw that on a list as well as a way to get
- 14:05the fingerprints and all the whatever off of stainless steel appliances. Do you spray
- 14:09it on a rag first and then wipe it or a paper towel, or
- 14:13do you just spray it on it? I have done both, but when
- 14:18I'm in a hurry, I just spray it directly on there and then take
- 14:20a rag and wipe it and no oily residue behind. I do put like
- 14:30an old rug in front of the appliance because if it hits on your floor,
- 14:33you will take a slide. Yeah, no kidding, All right,
- 14:37deb thanks very much. I appreciate the phone call a few other little things
- 14:41here For those of you that are artists out there, it is said that
- 14:46an interesting textured base is created using w D forty on a canvas, and
- 14:52it helps make a unique liquid cell shoe if mixed sparingly with acrylic paint.
- 15:00That's according to the brand on its website. A few other little little goodies
- 15:03here. Obviously, it removes stuff from cars, leaves your leaves shiny on
- 15:11artificial plants, removes crayon from walls, carpet, toys, plastic, compressed
- 15:16wood, et cetera. Cleans gunk and scuff marks off your ceramic floors,
- 15:22keeps your garden tools rest free, rest free. That's important, the garden
- 15:28tools, all your connections and all that stuff as well. I would imagine
- 15:31cleans and polishes golden brats. Here's one that I've used it for hardwater stains
- 15:39in the bathroom, in the shower, also for cleaning your toilet bowl.
- 15:43It actually works. I had unbelievable success with hardwater stains in a shower.
- 15:52So there you go. Just some ideas. W D forty part of everyone's
- 15:58tool, at least it should be. And no, I'm not getting paid
- 16:03for this segment. Although we ought to be time for news,
