- 0:24Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside. Come laugh
- 0:29Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley along with
- 0:32Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma on a Wednesday, September fourth,
- 0:38Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Let's get stupid.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Oh uh, what's what's your what's your sipping on? Their buddy?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sometimes I forget you can see me. Uh
- 0:54Speaker 1: it is my uh my Starbucks?
- 0:58Speaker 3: What is that super venty?
- 1:01Speaker 1: That's just the regular venti. There's there's a new one.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think it's called trent trenty that's larger than the venti. Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: so thirty. Yes, you've you've you've cracked the coat on
- 1:18Speaker 1: Starbucks sizes. So yeah, this is a venty U vanilla
- 1:23Speaker 1: sugar free vanilla ice lattape. And uh and because it's
- 1:28Speaker 1: chili here in Seattle. Uh, mine has the pumpkin topping
- 1:32Speaker 1: because it feels like fall here.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Mmmm, pumpkin.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Never. I never uh never pegged you as a PSL
- 1:40Speaker 3: type girl.
- 1:43Speaker 1: If you could see, if you could see below my chest,
- 1:49Speaker 1: you would see my knee high boots.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Mm hmmm. He's a Korean cheerleader.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I'm not a I'm not a total basic PSL girl,
- 2:02Speaker 1: because it's still you know, this is an iced beverage.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It's not a pumpkin spice latte. It's a vanilla iced
- 2:10Speaker 1: vanilla latte. Yes, but I like the pumpkin stuff on
- 2:15Speaker 1: top because then it kind of seasons it a little bit.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So it's like I'm more like a PSL in girl
- 2:24Speaker 1: in transition or something.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 2:27Speaker 4: Gosh, when do you start? When do you start doing
- 2:29Speaker 4: spoken word poetry? Can we come to you one of
- 2:31Speaker 4: your come to one of your open mics?
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yea, there once was a Dan from Nantucket.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Did you post pictures on your Etsy account?
- 2:46Speaker 2: What type of jewelry you make it?
- 2:50Speaker 1: I have those charm bracelets, but the charms ice cell
- 2:54Speaker 1: or the Stanley cups with the straws in the handle
- 2:56Speaker 1: and on the Stanley cup it actually says PSL girl.
- 3:00Speaker 4: How much does if you don't mind me asking, how
- 3:02Speaker 4: much does one of those cost?
- 3:05Speaker 1: I don't know because my wife bought it for me.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Oh okay, So here a basic bitch, raj.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm the most basic of bitches. Not only am I
- 3:14Speaker 1: drinking a Starbucks coffee while in Seattle mm hmm. We
- 3:20Speaker 1: also have on the agenda to watch sleepless in Seattle
- 3:23Speaker 1: while in Seattle.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Wow, so this is what white people do. I've always wanted.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Don't don't let us on this.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Trades. Like some of us go to the gun range.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And get and get our pumpkin spice lattes after his
- 3:43Speaker 1: pumpkin spice lattes with the gunpowder topic.
- 3:48Speaker 2: It smells like tastes like freedom.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a Texas latte.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I just want to know, like what the going rate
- 3:55Speaker 4: for something. I've never purchased a beverage from a Starbucks,
- 3:58Speaker 4: so I don't know. Is it like five six bucks?
- 4:02Speaker 1: It's I guarantee you it's way more than it should be.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But someone's got to pay for the CEO's super commute.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Did you do you have that delivered?
- 4:14Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:16Speaker 3: I bet that's a minimum of a ten dollar coffee
- 4:19Speaker 3: because it's.
- 4:19Speaker 2: A minimum twenty six.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Dollars an hour for the delivery driver. Yes, yes, so
- 4:24Speaker 1: you made him twenty six dollars yeah right, yes, wow,
- 4:33Speaker 1: twenty six dollars. I'm not paying him twenty six dollars
- 4:37Speaker 1: an hour the company he delivers for. You know, the
- 4:40Speaker 1: city of Seattle is weird and they like to charge
- 4:43Speaker 1: they had like they like They like all the food
- 4:46Speaker 1: delivery drivers to make at least twenty six dollars per hour.
- 4:48Speaker 1: That's the minimum.
- 4:49Speaker 3: So yeah, you probably just paid him like half just
- 4:53Speaker 3: a half hour, so thirteen.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Plus on top of what the coffee and is the
- 5:00Speaker 4: is the pumpkin spice only available in the in the fall?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah? You didn't know that, right? Oh that's right. You've
- 5:07Speaker 1: you never gone to Starbucks, you don't know. So I
- 5:09Speaker 1: even posted on the at Treehouse on air, Instagram and
- 5:14Speaker 1: I think Facebook as well. So pumpkin spice season, according
- 5:18Speaker 1: to Starbucks, right, yes, starts in August. Oh yeah, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: then a month after that is when actual fall hits
- 5:28Speaker 1: for the calendar, you know, September twenty first or twenty second,
- 5:33Speaker 1: whatever it is, and then you know, Texas fall doesn't
- 5:36Speaker 1: kick in until you know, late Aanuary.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, So pumpkin spice is only a fall thing.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, or a perceived fall thing, because look, I'm
- 5:50Speaker 1: in Seattle right now and it feels like fall. So
- 5:52Speaker 1: having a pumpkin spice drink it's kind of nice. I
- 5:55Speaker 1: like it, but I'm eventually gonna, you know, in a
- 5:57Speaker 1: couple of weeks, I'll be back in Texas and then
- 5:59Speaker 1: after that back home, you know, in the Virgin Islands,
- 6:02Speaker 1: and it's not gonna feel like fault at all. So
- 6:04Speaker 1: I'm I'm getting in my fall.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Basic tendencies.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Now, will you have a Will you have some sort
- 6:11Speaker 4: of a cider at some point?
- 6:15Speaker 2: I've never had one of those either.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I don't know what that. We grew up on apple cider.
- 6:20Speaker 3: I don't really.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sure they have it here because they have
- 6:23Speaker 1: apples and stuff here, So maybe I'll have one of
- 6:25Speaker 1: those before I leave.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Okay, apple cider? Do you? Will you have s'mores?
- 6:32Speaker 1: Not really a smores family?
- 6:34Speaker 2: Okay, I gotcha.
- 6:35Speaker 4: I've only had them once and they're overrated.
- 6:40Speaker 1: The testing the Textan in me would prefer to, uh,
- 6:46Speaker 1: you know, smoke or grill meat on a flame versus
- 6:50Speaker 1: a sweet treat.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yeah, and the Hindu in me would like for you
- 6:54Speaker 4: to grill meat as well. S'mores are just a It's
- 7:00Speaker 4: messy and I don't understand the appeal. It's gram crackers
- 7:04Speaker 4: and chocolate.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Can't you that separately?
- 7:07Speaker 1: You can, but you put them all together and people
- 7:09Speaker 1: love it. It's a delicacy.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Okay, gotcha?
- 7:11Speaker 1: So yeah, while I'm here, I'm getting in all my
- 7:13Speaker 1: basic fall stuff, which reminds me there are two great
- 7:18Speaker 1: indicators of the onslaught of fall in the holiday season.
- 7:24Speaker 1: One is Starbucks releasing their Fall Pumpkin Spice menu drinks
- 7:30Speaker 1: for the year. The other is the appearance of the
- 7:33Speaker 1: Spirit Halloween stores. Yes, now, those those are some seriously
- 7:40Speaker 1: tasty treats, especially for those of us that love Halloween
- 7:43Speaker 1: and love decorating for Halloween. And there's an alternate name
- 7:48Speaker 1: for the seasons, right, there's fall, there's Pumpkin spice season,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and then there's something I refer to as Scare your
- 7:56Speaker 1: Kid season, which would also be or Halloween, which they.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Started selling Halloween decorations three weeks ago.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, someone's been to a Dollar Tree.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Collar Tree Home Depot, Low's Spirit Halloween Stores. They start
- 8:15Speaker 1: that stuff pretty early. And here's the thing, if you
- 8:17Speaker 1: are serious about Halloween decorating, all the good stuff is
- 8:21Speaker 1: gone in early September, so it's not like no one's
- 8:25Speaker 1: buying this stuff and they're forcing it. As soon as
- 8:27Speaker 1: that stuff comes out, you're going to get the new
- 8:29Speaker 1: hot Halloween decorations.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Hell, they've got to the point now we're two weeks
- 8:34Speaker 3: before Halloween, they're pretty much putting up Thanksgiving stuff.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I now have a lawn, so I might
- 8:42Speaker 4: do I've seen what you guys used to do to
- 8:44Speaker 4: the along with the skeletons and all that stuff and
- 8:46Speaker 4: the zombie like hand coming out.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I might do that now that I have a lawn. Yeah.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Looksquite, you live in Mesquite and and you're a brown
- 8:56Speaker 1: Indian man. So the neighborhood kids are probably already afraid
- 8:59Speaker 1: of you because the color of your skin. So so
- 9:02Speaker 1: why not why not enforce it or or reinforce it
- 9:08Speaker 1: by participating not in Halloween or fall, but scare your
- 9:12Speaker 1: kids season. And the fine folks at Spirit Halloween UH
- 9:16Speaker 1: can help you do that. And here's a great example
- 9:19Speaker 1: I saw the other day, and that is when you
- 9:22Speaker 1: go to a Spirit Halloween store, they will have a
- 9:25Speaker 1: number of their uh new animatronics on display so you
- 9:29Speaker 1: can test them to see what they do. Okay, can
- 9:31Speaker 1: you see this one?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:33Speaker 1: So there here we have a young boy at a
- 9:36Speaker 1: Spirit Halloween store and he's about to step on the
- 9:39Speaker 1: tester pad of a animatronic at a Spirit Halloween store,
- 9:44Speaker 1: and it looks like a gooley old lady or man
- 9:47Speaker 1: you know, scary looking. And then at a gravesite, he's
- 9:50Speaker 1: going to hit the He's going to hit the pad
- 9:51Speaker 1: with his foot and let's see what happens. And and
- 9:54Speaker 1: as you watch this, imagine this is in your front yard. Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: not just the decoration, but the children in front of
- 10:02Speaker 1: the decoration.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 1: It's the thing springs forth from the gravestone and scares
- 10:19Speaker 1: the child so much that the kid falls down on
- 10:22Speaker 1: the ground. Inside the Spirit Halloween's door.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it grows to about ten feet tall.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it shoots up like the height of
- 10:31Speaker 1: that Iranian volleyball player.
- 10:34Speaker 2: It is the Iran also not cool. Man, that is
- 10:39Speaker 2: not Uh that scared me.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Uh.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I pooed a little. I'm just not I'm not gonna lie.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Uh not cool.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Hang on, let's let's enjoy this again. The new Scarier
- 10:48Speaker 1: Kids season animatronic available from the Spirit Halloween Kid hits
- 10:54Speaker 1: the pad, howling.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Oh raj Please please please get one for your front
- 11:07Speaker 3: yard and just put a go pro camera on it.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Okay, uh, and we'll start, we'll start accepting donations from
- 11:13Speaker 4: my bail will win.
- 11:16Speaker 2: It's mesquite they'll kill me.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Uh yeah that's also yeah, why why what that's just
- 11:24Speaker 4: not that's not it Isn't it supposed to be like
- 11:26Speaker 4: candy in like the in fun costumes.
- 11:30Speaker 1: No, it's about scaring people's kids. I have a great
- 11:33Speaker 1: example of that. This is a RAJ you brought up
- 11:35Speaker 1: with my yard. What Tera and I used to do
- 11:37Speaker 1: in our front yard at our house open and we
- 11:40Speaker 1: actually Trey. You mentioned that Raj should get this new
- 11:43Speaker 1: animatronic and put a GoPro on it. Well, that's what
- 11:46Speaker 1: we did with our front yard. We decorated it like
- 11:49Speaker 1: crazy for Halloween. And then we have our security cameras
- 11:52Speaker 1: out front for security purposes, but also on the off
- 11:56Speaker 1: chance that you scare a kid so good you want
- 11:58Speaker 1: to share it on your podcast years later.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I soap.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Why here we go? So here you've got the camera,
- 12:11Speaker 1: you see the scene. You see our front yard. You've
- 12:13Speaker 1: got skeletons there, You've got witch brooms on either side
- 12:18Speaker 1: of the walkway leading up to the front door. Yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 1: you can see, and this is really just the early
- 12:23Speaker 1: stages of decorating. You can see some other skeletons in
- 12:26Speaker 1: the yard, some gravestones and things. And here comes an
- 12:29Speaker 1: unsuspecting child with his mom and baby brother up to
- 12:33Speaker 1: our house on Halloween circa twenty sixteen. So the family's
- 12:40Speaker 1: walking up. You got two little boys. One's a police
- 12:45Speaker 1: one's a police officer with his little pumpkin bucket. And
- 12:51Speaker 1: what they don't know is that we have motions since
- 12:54Speaker 1: her decoration that goes off when you step in front
- 12:57Speaker 1: of it. The child stepping up, he's scared. He's looking
- 13:01Speaker 1: at mom because he's scared of all the Skeletons's a
- 13:03Speaker 1: scary house and he's probably I don't know, five four.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Oh, poor fellow.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He's hesitant to walk up. They should be, but Mom's
- 13:12Speaker 1: in on it. Mom's like, no, no, no, go to the
- 13:14Speaker 1: front door, ask for a kind He's like okay, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: then and then he rocks in front of the skeleton
- 13:27Speaker 1: with the motion sensor that starts laughing. He gets scared
- 13:31Speaker 1: and runs back to Mommy at the at the street.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Oh he's gonna make a terrible cop.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, first time of danger and he runs away. Make
- 13:46Speaker 1: a great politician.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Now, mad.

- 16:03Speaker 1: dot org. You know, Raj, I appreciate the fact that
- 16:07Speaker 1: you show so much empathy for the children around Halloween
- 16:11Speaker 1: that you're hesitant to put scary Halloween decorations in your
- 16:15Speaker 1: front yard. But there are you know, people say there
- 16:19Speaker 1: are fewer greater joys than bringing children into this world.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I say, hmm, it's so much sweeter to scare those children.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I can like I'll do the like the the the
- 16:33Speaker 4: skeleton hand thing, and like the dry ice like I'll
- 16:36Speaker 4: do that.
- 16:36Speaker 2: That's kind of fun.
- 16:38Speaker 4: But to scare the poor kid, he's gonna he's gonna
- 16:43Speaker 4: when he starts murdering, he's gonna he's gonna say in
- 16:46Speaker 4: his book, he's gonna be like and then there was
- 16:48Speaker 4: that one time I went up to that door and
- 16:50Speaker 4: then the skeleton made me pee myself and that's when
- 16:53Speaker 4: the murdering started. So you're actively helping serial killers to
- 16:59Speaker 4: to grow, to cultivate that serial killer mentality.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I think that's a stretch.
- 17:05Speaker 4: I no, Like, you know, like the little fans with
- 17:09Speaker 4: the little blood, that's kind of fun, But poor kid.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm just building a character. It's character building and it's
- 17:21Speaker 1: the story and I'm sticking to it.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I just I just feel bad for the kid.
- 17:30Speaker 2: He was a he was all in his cop outfit
- 17:32Speaker 2: on the pumpkin bucket thing adorable.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but notice his little brother didn't give his brother's
- 17:37Speaker 1: and I'm not going up there, you go, And then
- 17:39Speaker 1: Mom's like pushing him, no, go go. So I'm building character.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Mom is destroying trusting relationships and that's not my fault.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's on her.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Roger, I think you're you're looking at this the wrong way.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It's like it's white people training. So when they get
- 17:58Speaker 3: older and you know, the scary thing is actually they're
- 18:00Speaker 3: They're like, oh, no, big deal, I can handle this.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I have too many jokes. I'll save them prof the air.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Let's save those for the Patreon shows. Yes, patreon dot
- 18:19Speaker 1: com slash Treehouse on air. All right, let's get to
- 18:21Speaker 1: a story here that Trey has been excited about all
- 18:23Speaker 1: damn day, and that is out of the state of Oregon.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So it was huge news years ago when Washington State
- 18:37Speaker 1: and the state of Oregon and Colorado broke from the Union,
- 18:42Speaker 1: not to you know, secede, but instead to enact their
- 18:46Speaker 1: own decriminalization laws for drugs. And now for some reason,
- 18:54Speaker 1: Oregon is making headlines for deciding to re decriminalize drug.
- 19:06Speaker 4: No, that's where I get my good weed. I mean,
- 19:09Speaker 4: that's where I heard good weed is from.
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Oh sure, I know what you meant. Uh.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But so it didn't work out just the way they
- 19:22Speaker 2: wanted it to.
- 19:23Speaker 1: I don't know, as an Oregon law rolling back drug decriminalization,
- 19:28Speaker 1: making possession a crime again. Oregon's first in the nation
- 19:32Speaker 1: experiment with drug decriminalization came to an end on Sunday,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and possessing small amounts of hard drugs is once again
- 19:42Speaker 1: a crime. The Democratic controlled legislature passed the recriminalization law
- 19:48Speaker 1: in March, overhauling a measure approved by fifty eight percent
- 19:51Speaker 1: of voters in twenty twenty that made processing illicit drugs
- 19:54Speaker 1: like heroin punishable by a ticket and a maximum one fine,
- 19:59Speaker 1: which would conceivably save you money so you could buy
- 20:02Speaker 1: more heroin. The measure directed hundreds of millions of dollars
- 20:07Speaker 1: in cannabis tax revenue toward addiction services, but the money
- 20:11Speaker 1: was slow to get out the door at a time
- 20:12Speaker 1: when the fentanyl crisis was causing the spike in deadly
- 20:15Speaker 1: overdoses and health officials grappling with COVID. We're struggling to
- 20:18Speaker 1: stand up. We're struggling to stand up. The new treatment
- 20:23Speaker 1: system and the new law which took effect Sunday. Uh,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you know it passed by pretty much everyone, and supporters
- 20:31Speaker 1: of decriminalization say treatment is more and more effective than jail.
- 20:35Speaker 1: This new law establishes ways for treatment alternatives to criminal penalties.
- 20:41Speaker 4: So Democrats made it illegal again, and the Republicans are like,
- 20:46Speaker 4: where's all the coke?
- 20:50Speaker 1: Wrong drugs? Guys? Okay, it needs to be the poor
- 20:54Speaker 1: people's drugs that.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Get I just love that. I just love the idea
- 20:59Speaker 2: of giving somebody on heroin and ticket, yeah.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And instructions, Hey go here and we'll get you sober.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Okay, Oh that's that's a fantastic idea.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Here's your ticket. Thanks. I'm gonna fall asleep over here
- 21:19Speaker 2: in the gutter.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'll be sure to pay that.
- 21:26Speaker 2: You know how much? Here what I can buy for
- 21:27Speaker 2: one hundred dollars.
- 21:29Speaker 1: We The sad thing is is you go to one
- 21:31Speaker 1: of the one of the boardwalks, or you know, you
- 21:33Speaker 1: go to some of the you go to some you know,
- 21:36Speaker 1: public event, and you got these same guys you're trying
- 21:39Speaker 1: to pay their heroin tickets at Zoltar Machines.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Now that needs to be a YouTube click. I won't
- 21:53Speaker 2: post it all answer. I'm just somebody just trying to pay.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And then and then if they get arrested because that
- 21:59Speaker 1: ticket went to a warrant because they didn't go to
- 22:01Speaker 1: their proper place to pay, they could say, no, man,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I totally paid that. Uh. Zultar took it everything.
- 22:07Speaker 2: The guy with the turbane got it.
- 22:08Speaker 3: M h.
- 22:10Speaker 2: He took my money and gave me solid advice.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Also I dreamt that I was Tom Hanks for about
- 22:15Speaker 1: an hour and a half.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Or Chet Hanks for a month and a half.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I will admit, though, Trey, I've i've I did not
- 22:30Speaker 1: anticipate seeing a state that decriminalized drugs deciding, you know what,
- 22:35Speaker 1: we should really recriminalize some of this stuff.
- 22:38Speaker 3: And I have been all for you know, like the
- 22:41Speaker 3: penalties from marijuana are silly. It's that. But yeah, when
- 22:45Speaker 3: you're talking about writing tickets for heroin, you probably swung
- 22:50Speaker 3: the pendulum just a little too far the other way.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I'm as liberal as it gets it even I'm like,
- 22:56Speaker 2: that's dumb.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You know what, There aren't enough tickets for heroin.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Writing a ticket to just walk up to a guy
- 23:07Speaker 2: and be like heroin bad.
- 23:08Speaker 3: And I'm sure that you know the needle sticking in
- 23:13Speaker 3: his arm. The guy's pulling out his phone. Oh my
- 23:15Speaker 3: court dates, Here, my calendar.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Where's my tie?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Oh it's around my arm.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I can't find my belt.
- 23:34Speaker 1: That's around your foot.
- 23:38Speaker 2: It's around you're junk because that's when you're shooting out now.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Meanwhile, the j walkers are just going crazy.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse.

- 24:51Speaker 1: It's uh, it's already to Wednesday, and you went to
- 24:54Speaker 1: chucktaw the other day? How did that go?
- 24:56Speaker 2: I did?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Are there that you're going to be splitting with the Treehouse?
- 25:03Speaker 4: I broke even. I was happy about that. I did win,
- 25:08Speaker 4: I did get I was playing the Ultimate Texas holding
- 25:10Speaker 4: the table game, Oh nice, and I was very proud
- 25:14Speaker 4: of myself. I was sitting next to this Asian guy
- 25:16Speaker 4: who was just playing like five hundred dollars a hand
- 25:20Speaker 4: and killing it.
- 25:21Speaker 2: And at one point he put like a like he
- 25:23Speaker 2: was feeling good, he was feeling himself.
- 25:25Speaker 3: I got you.
- 25:26Speaker 4: He put like two thousand next to my forty bucks
- 25:31Speaker 4: and he lost and I got four kings. So I
- 25:35Speaker 4: ended up with several hundred dollars, but I generously donated
- 25:40Speaker 4: it back to my Native American brothers. But I would
- 25:48Speaker 4: not recommend going on Labor Day weekend. It's it's amazing
- 25:54Speaker 4: how many people I don't understand that Vegas. I get Vegas,
- 25:57Speaker 4: I get because you're loaded all the time. But to
- 26:02Speaker 4: show up in Oklahoma, uh, just so hammered.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:08Speaker 4: And they don't turn anybody away. I saw people driving
- 26:10Speaker 4: on the wrong side of the road and even then
- 26:12Speaker 4: like the cop just like like flagged him into the
- 26:15Speaker 4: parking lot. I was like, oh, yeah, he's gonna get stopped,
- 26:17Speaker 4: and they just pulled him into a parking spot.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And I guess, as long as you're headed towards the casino,
- 26:22Speaker 1: it's okay. But if you're headed away from the casino,
- 26:24Speaker 1: that's probably when the pulley over.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 4: I was really surprised how many people just showed like
- 26:29Speaker 4: didn't heed, they didn't need h I guess the idea
- 26:31Speaker 4: is like it's still near beer in Oklahoma.
- 26:34Speaker 1: No, they actually went up to regular they did, and so.
- 26:36Speaker 2: I think people still think that. So they just get
- 26:39Speaker 2: plow housed.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Uh, people just get plowed.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I think Trey are eight years sober expert is right
- 26:51Speaker 1: on the one's.
- 26:52Speaker 4: But they like the Choctaw has like there's a very
- 26:54Speaker 4: nice whiskey bar that's in there that like we had
- 26:57Speaker 4: a I think we had a little knob cree.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Old fashion.
- 27:02Speaker 4: I was really nice, like you can go and it
- 27:03Speaker 4: was it wasn't expensive. So I don't know why any're
- 27:06Speaker 4: just drinking.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Natty light in the car.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Well, the reason why is because and this is one
- 27:10Speaker 1: of the big differences between you know, the Oklahoma casinos
- 27:13Speaker 1: and every other casino on the damn planet, whether it's
- 27:17Speaker 1: Shreveport or Vegas. In Shreveport, in Vegas, they'll just give
- 27:21Speaker 1: you the booze, right, Yes, in Oklahoma, you gotta pay
- 27:25Speaker 1: for it. So what a lot of people do is
- 27:26Speaker 1: they pre game or they they they pre gamble before
- 27:31Speaker 1: going to the casino. Yeah, and then they go into
- 27:35Speaker 1: the Then they go into the casino and save money
- 27:38Speaker 1: by drinking before they get there, and then they can
- 27:40Speaker 1: spend their money on the game like and then maybe
- 27:42Speaker 1: while they're there they'll buy a couple of drinks. But yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 1: I mean in Vegas, they'll just bring you the drink
- 27:46Speaker 1: to keep you seated at the table.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 4: I haven't seen that many, and I don't know how
- 27:52Speaker 4: they miss it, but a lot of flasks I did see.
- 27:56Speaker 3: That, Roger. Have you have you looked at a map
- 28:01Speaker 3: to see what's around Chalktaw like if you drew like
- 28:05Speaker 3: a sixty mile radius.
- 28:07Speaker 2: No, I have not.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Okay, you know, if you want an explanation to really understand,
- 28:11Speaker 3: I understand that Sherman is the biggest metropolis and in
- 28:14Speaker 3: that that geography.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I thought I thought it would be Dennison because apparently
- 28:19Speaker 4: it has a dam I.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Did not know that Denison is Sherman's little brother. Yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 3: there's a damn. That's that's you. You think that that's
- 28:31Speaker 3: the sign of of of of of culture.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Dennison has Dennison Damn. I just thought it would be like,
- 28:43Speaker 2: you know, a tourist attraction.
- 28:46Speaker 3: You've never been to Dennison?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yea, No, Look look Durant uh or what's the what's
- 28:55Speaker 1: the city that windstars in? Trey Ard More? No, it's
- 29:00Speaker 1: off anyway. Whatever, So whether whether it's Windstar or Choctaw
- 29:05Speaker 1: in southern Oklahoma, it really is Las Vegas Light because
- 29:11Speaker 1: you've got the you've got the casinos, and as we've
- 29:14Speaker 1: just informed Raj, there's also a very popular dam nearby.
- 29:20Speaker 3: It's Reno Light.
- 29:23Speaker 2: It's Reno adjacent. And do they have do they have
- 29:29Speaker 2: the Ladies of the Night at the Choctaw?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Do we know that's that's that's ard More? Okay, sorry,
- 29:38Speaker 1: that's ard More kind of like the outskirts of Vegas.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Like it's it's outside the Vegas city limits. You have
- 29:43Speaker 1: to travel out for its same thing in Oklahoma. If
- 29:46Speaker 1: you want that, you got to go to Ardmore. And
- 29:48Speaker 1: then you know the Grand Canyon. You know Vegas, you
- 29:51Speaker 1: know it's easy to get to the Grand Canyon. Whereas
- 29:54Speaker 1: the casinos in Oklahoma you just you just have random
- 29:57Speaker 1: ditches on the Red River border.
- 30:00Speaker 3: I mean honestly, you know, if you go to the
- 30:02Speaker 3: bar and you see a woman with all her teeth,
- 30:05Speaker 3: I think, you know, if there's a chance she's a
- 30:07Speaker 3: working girl.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna give her a ticket for heroin. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 4: I didn't know if the same things applied, Like when
- 30:20Speaker 4: you're in Vegas, like you can always tell, like at
- 30:22Speaker 4: the hotels, you can see like the escorts at the bar.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I didn't know if that happened. I don't know if
- 30:28Speaker 4: you could just tell by the flip flop, which if
- 30:37Speaker 4: she wearing crocs, she's a whore.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Jesus, Yeah, I don't know what. I don't know what
- 30:44Speaker 1: the comparisons or the the equivalents are as far as
- 30:50Speaker 1: Vegas to Oklahoma casinos, especially because going on a holiday
- 30:56Speaker 1: weekend is already crazy enough in my book, because it's
- 30:59Speaker 1: so expensive to stay there. And that's one of the
- 31:01Speaker 1: other big differences between the Oklahoma casinos and Vegas is
- 31:05Speaker 1: Vegas you can go and get a hotel for thirty
- 31:07Speaker 1: forty to fifty bucks a night, whereas, especially on a
- 31:10Speaker 1: holiday weekend, going to Chalktar or Windstar, it's hundreds of dollars.
- 31:15Speaker 2: If you had to guess how much would it be.
- 31:17Speaker 1: For the holiday. The last time I tried to do
- 31:19Speaker 1: that on a holiday weekend, staying at the Tower at
- 31:23Speaker 1: chalk Taw, I think was three to fifty a night.
- 31:26Speaker 2: It's five ninety nine.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Oh man, inflation is really hitting those casinos hard.
- 31:32Speaker 4: Six hundred dollars. I'm like, can I just buy land.
- 31:37Speaker 4: Can I just open a casino? I'mind I mean Columbus
- 31:40Speaker 4: thought he was. That's why we're called Indians. That's why
- 31:44Speaker 4: they're called Indians.
- 31:45Speaker 1: And I think that right there, Raj, I think you've
- 31:47Speaker 1: I think you've cracked another code. I think when you're
- 31:49Speaker 1: spending six hundred dollars per night for a room, yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 1: at the casino in Oklahoma, that's why the you know,
- 31:59Speaker 1: the ladies of the night you see are wearing crocs,
- 32:01Speaker 1: because that's all I mean, everyone's spending on the money,
- 32:03Speaker 1: all the money on the hotel rooms.
- 32:08Speaker 4: I was, and here's the sad thing. I was kind
- 32:10Speaker 4: of looking out for him. I'm like, I just want
- 32:12Speaker 4: to see if they if they dwell in this hotel
- 32:16Speaker 4: as well.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I don't know how the women of the night work
- 32:19Speaker 2: in Oklahoma.
- 32:21Speaker 1: I don't know either, but I think, you know, some
- 32:25Speaker 1: cities have crack hors, and southern Oklahoma has crock hors.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Or lot lizards. I don't know that's what they're called.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I think that's what they're still called, right And.
- 32:37Speaker 3: They all miss Craigslist.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I eat the good old days when horn was easy.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Listening to the Treehouse online, that treehouse dot Com you're in.
- 33:21Speaker 6: Business online at everyhouse on air dot com.
- 33:29Speaker 1: So this is a natural segue talking about how Oklahoma
- 33:36Speaker 1: casinos and the surrounding area has comparisons to Vegas and
- 33:42Speaker 1: its surrounding areas, whether it's nightlife or croc Ladies, dams, golf.
- 33:55Speaker 1: The Grand Canyon, right, Grand Canyon is right there near
- 34:00Speaker 1: Las Vegas. I know that not only because I was
- 34:03Speaker 1: decent at geography as a kid, but I saw the
- 34:05Speaker 1: third National Lampoons movie.
- 34:07Speaker 3: And in reality, the north rim of the Crank Canyon
- 34:13Speaker 3: is close, reasonably close to Vegas. Yeah.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Yeah, the rest of it's nowhere near Vegas, but the
- 34:19Speaker 1: north rim sure. So one thing that Oklahoma is going
- 34:26Speaker 1: to have to do if it wants to compete with
- 34:28Speaker 1: Vegas or continue to compete with Vegas, is it's going
- 34:32Speaker 1: to be able to u It's going to need to
- 34:34Speaker 1: lose a few hikers the way that Vegas and the
- 34:37Speaker 1: Grand Canyon does. And there's a recent example of this.
- 34:42Speaker 1: A recently a backpacker who went on a solo hike
- 34:46Speaker 1: was found dead in the Grand Canyon National Park.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Yes, as he should be.
- 34:53Speaker 1: The unnamed hiker was the fourteenth person to die in
- 34:58Speaker 1: Grand Canyon National Park this.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Year, probably the third Carson.
- 35:07Speaker 4: The fourth Noah, eleven Skylars.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Later, can we just say white people.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I don't think you needed to. I think the names
- 35:22Speaker 1: were making it pretty obvious. I mean, this story did well.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Fourteen backpackers died, twenty five black people. Look on he fail.
- 35:39Speaker 1: I am really starting to notice this, even more so
- 35:41Speaker 1: because we're laughing about about the white people names. But
- 35:43Speaker 1: it's true. Just watching the opening like some of the
- 35:48Speaker 1: first college football games this past weekend, you're really starting
- 35:51Speaker 1: to see it, like there's you know, look, we already
- 35:53Speaker 1: had a couple of Carsons. Now you know, we've had
- 35:56Speaker 1: a few conners Is, and now you're right now we're
- 35:58Speaker 1: getting the Skylars that you know with two rs and
- 36:02Speaker 1: g h s and things like that.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Braden Braxton.
- 36:12Speaker 1: And you have to be careful when you name your
- 36:14Speaker 1: your child these things, because you really set them up
- 36:16Speaker 1: either for you know, playing quarterback at Michigan or being
- 36:20Speaker 1: found dead at the Grand National Grand Canyon National Park.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Please tell the rest of the story. What happened. So
- 36:31Speaker 2: he was he was backpacking.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Yes, this is actually a sixty year old solo hiking. Yes,
- 36:40Speaker 1: he was found he was found dead near the Thunder
- 36:42Speaker 1: River Trail in the Grand Canyon National Park. The hiker,
- 36:46Speaker 1: who had been traveling solo, was reported missing last Tuesday
- 36:49Speaker 1: after he failed to check in with a family member
- 36:53Speaker 1: while attempting the Thunder River Trail Deer Creek Loop. His
- 36:56Speaker 1: body was found Wednesday just before ten am, along with
- 36:59Speaker 1: the route connecting the Lower Tapittz Camp and Deer Creek Camp.
- 37:05Speaker 1: He's from North Carolina on a multi day solo backpacking trip.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Look there, there are certain things that you need to
- 37:13Speaker 1: do in pairs hiking and backpacking. Are up there.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Faces is making the whole time.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Years old. His name was Herbert.
- 37:33Speaker 2: They're gonna make a movie called The Last Walter.
- 37:39Speaker 1: It'll make for a hell of a marker there on
- 37:42Speaker 1: the trail as well. Here died the Last Walter.
- 37:47Speaker 2: They just didn't follow the trail mix that's all. That's
- 37:50Speaker 2: all they had to do. This Turkey Turkey. They couldn't
- 37:54Speaker 2: find Walter. Oh, poor guy.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Maybe that's actually how they did find him. But again
- 38:01Speaker 1: I go back to there are certain things you need
- 38:03Speaker 1: to do in a group setting, and and and this
- 38:07Speaker 1: is one of them. Don't don't do anything at any
- 38:09Speaker 1: of the national parks by yourself.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Right, I just love like you'll never hear that story
- 38:15Speaker 4: and be like, sixty year old Siddan Patail was found
- 38:18Speaker 4: like that doesn't.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever I think whenever I see these news stories,
- 38:26Speaker 1: there's no question that I'll have no problem being able
- 38:30Speaker 1: to pronounce their name.
- 38:39Speaker 2: In lieu of Flowers and quin Law.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Oh Man, I think we may end up being the
- 38:58Speaker 1: first show that gets canceled by white people.
- 39:02Speaker 2: It's a time.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Groundbreaking. All right, We'll see you tomorrow in the treehouse.
- 39:13Speaker 5: Mm hmmmmm
