Transcript
- 0:19Speaker 1: What's going on? Everyone? Emily A body here back in
- 0:22Speaker 1: your feet today for five minute Friday. Man, what a
- 0:27Speaker 1: week it is freezing here in New York. You know.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's funny. I feel as though, because we've had such
- 0:33Speaker 1: a mild couple of weeks in this transition to winter,
- 0:37Speaker 1: that when the temperatures are exactly how they are supposed
- 0:40Speaker 1: to be for this time of year, we act like
- 0:43Speaker 1: it is literally the apocalypse, at least I do. Anyway,
- 0:47Speaker 1: for today's episode, I just I had a really beautiful
- 0:51Speaker 1: moment about an hour ago that I wanted to share.
- 0:54Speaker 1: So this morning I went to a podiatrist and talked
- 0:59Speaker 1: about this ongoing battle with planter fasci idis. For anyone
- 1:04Speaker 1: who may not be up to date on my foot problems, cute,
- 1:07Speaker 1: I know. I've been navigating pretty rough plant fascia idis
- 1:11Speaker 1: for the last handful of months. I had it at
- 1:14Speaker 1: the beginning of my lending training cycle, it went away,
- 1:18Speaker 1: and then it came back with a vengeance, and since
- 1:22Speaker 1: the London Marathon, I have been really just struggling with it.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Some days I feel totally fine. Other days I'm limping
- 1:29Speaker 1: around most every day. Come four or five o'clock, I
- 1:33Speaker 1: am in some sort of discomfort, and so I made
- 1:37Speaker 1: the decision that I was finally going to seek out
- 1:41Speaker 1: another tool beyond physical therapy, which brings me to this
- 1:47Speaker 1: morning at the podiatrist. So she told me I have
- 1:50Speaker 1: a few options. I'm not going to get into the
- 1:53Speaker 1: logistics behind the options, but I basically left feeling kind
- 1:57Speaker 1: of defeated and just a little frustrated because I have
- 2:01Speaker 1: this thing, it's not going away, and it's going to
- 2:05Speaker 1: be really expensive to do something about it. I have
- 2:08Speaker 1: been so diligent about my physical therapy exercises and like
- 2:11Speaker 1: taking the time to take care of me, and still
- 2:16Speaker 1: like I'm in this place. With that said, I think
- 2:21Speaker 1: you can probably tell by the nature of my voice,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I've been feeling frustrated about this. But I sat down
- 2:28Speaker 1: at my desk like fifteen minutes ago, and I was
- 2:33Speaker 1: so happy despite having this like frustrating day, because I
- 2:39Speaker 1: was thinking about how lucky I am to have really
- 2:41Speaker 1: great friends in my life. And my mom adopted a
- 2:46Speaker 1: dog yesterday, which is over the moon exciting. Her name
- 2:49Speaker 1: is Abby. We've never had a dog, I say we
- 2:52Speaker 1: as though like we lived together, but growing up I
- 2:54Speaker 1: never had a dog. So this is the first dog
- 2:57Speaker 1: that's been a part of my family. I love the
- 3:01Speaker 1: holidays in New York, and like the smell of the
- 3:05Speaker 1: cold today just made me feel super cozy and nostalgic.
- 3:10Speaker 1: There were just so many things that despite having this
- 3:13Speaker 1: like hectic and frustrating morning and feeling just disappointed a
- 3:18Speaker 1: little bit, that I felt really proud of me that
- 3:23Speaker 1: the residual feeling at the end of the day is
- 3:26Speaker 1: gratitude and contentment. And I'm reminded that it's a choice
- 3:32Speaker 1: and it can be both. Right, you can have a
- 3:34Speaker 1: frustrating moment and also come back to gratitude. You can
- 3:39Speaker 1: have a frustrating moment and also come back to gratitude.
- 3:43Speaker 1: And so for me, moving into the weekend, I have
- 3:47Speaker 1: a lot of things to look forward to. I'm actually
- 3:49Speaker 1: headed to Las Vegas for a little bit of a
- 3:52Speaker 1: work trip, and then it's the holidays. So one thing
- 3:57Speaker 1: at a time, one breath at a time, one step
- 3:59Speaker 1: at a time, and for now, I move forward thinking
- 4:03Speaker 1: about the decisions that I have to make with a
- 4:07Speaker 1: good perspective and a good head on my shoulders. My
- 4:11Speaker 1: question for you this week is what's a little silver
- 4:16Speaker 1: lining for you right now? In your life, and if
- 4:18Speaker 1: it has to do with someone else, you make sure
- 4:20Speaker 1: you tell them that they matter to you. What is
- 4:23Speaker 1: a silver lining in your life right now? And now
- 4:28Speaker 1: a really great listener question. If you had to pick
- 4:32Speaker 1: one pasta dish that describes who you are as a person,
- 4:36Speaker 1: what would it be and why? This listener question is
- 4:40Speaker 1: only second to the listener question that I got asking
- 4:45Speaker 1: me what my favorite donut was. This is a profound question,
- 4:49Speaker 1: one that I am grateful for, so thank you. Okay,
- 4:54Speaker 1: a pasta dish, I will say that I almost want
- 4:57Speaker 1: to go answer this question and be specific about the
- 4:59Speaker 1: type of If I was just a type of pasta,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I think that I would say I'm cavatapi. Not super popular,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but think of it as like a spiral longer macaroni.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I just love the shape. I feel like it's fun.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'd like to think that I'm fine. But if I
- 5:17Speaker 1: am a specific dish, I am, without a doubt, the
- 5:22Speaker 1: bolonaise from bar pre MEI with subbing the pennae for bucatini.
- 5:28Speaker 1: And that's because this dish feels It feels like a Sunday,
- 5:32Speaker 1: it feels like home. It makes me feel warm and
- 5:35Speaker 1: content and like all of my problems are non existent,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and it makes me truly happy. And I would hope
- 5:44Speaker 1: that I can be like a Sunday for someone, maybe
- 5:48Speaker 1: for some of you, but maybe more specifically at some
- 5:51Speaker 1: point or another, a romantic partner at some point. So yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm Bucatini with bolonaise. That's who I am. Oh my god,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I'm so curious to know what your pasta dishes are.
