- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always. Hello and welcome
- 0:21Speaker 1: back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm your host, Clay and with me opening some sort
- 0:30Speaker 1: of wrapper.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Sorry, girls, gotta eat.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's all good. It's all good, is of course, Katie, Katie,
- 0:40Speaker 1: how are you doing today?
- 0:44Speaker 2: You know this week is chaotic, but we're surviving. I'm
- 0:47Speaker 2: at my mom if you're here on YouTube and wondering
- 0:50Speaker 2: what is going on with Katie? Setup like, she looks
- 0:52Speaker 2: really weird right now. I don't have anything on my
- 0:55Speaker 2: headphones and my laptop, so that's the deal. I also
- 1:01Speaker 2: have Mara in the background if you can hear her
- 1:03Speaker 2: playing piano, so just FYI may have to get up
- 1:07Speaker 2: if you're here alive, but if you're here on the podcast,
- 1:10Speaker 2: Clay's going to do all the editing magic.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I'm going to try to do as much editing magic
- 1:15Speaker 1: as I possibly can, which is always great. I always
- 1:19Speaker 1: love a challenge. But you know, my day was surprisingly well.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Went in for an interview for something that I am
- 1:31Speaker 1: super excited about and crossing my fingers on if that
- 1:37Speaker 1: is actually going to happen or not. I will talk
- 1:41Speaker 1: more about it once I actually get the job. I'm
- 1:46Speaker 1: not knock on wood. Yeah, I'm not like so superstitious,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but like, I really need this to happen. So because
- 1:56Speaker 1: I didn't know exactly what it was until I did
- 2:01Speaker 1: a quick Google search and then I was like, holy crap, Okay,
- 2:04Speaker 1: this is awesome. So so yeah, it's it's gonna be
- 2:08Speaker 1: a lot of fun. But either way, Santio con Con
- 2:12Speaker 1: has came and went. It was super quick. Well, we're
- 2:18Speaker 1: gonna talk about the publishing panel went by even faster.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It was so quick. All the news just.
- 2:25Speaker 2: But a lot of stuff.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It was a lot of stuff. Surprisingly, there was a
- 2:29Speaker 1: little bit of a surprise after the fact when it
- 2:32Speaker 1: came to some publishing news as well, which we are
- 2:36Speaker 1: going to be talking about. But yeah, we got some
- 2:39Speaker 1: publishing news. We're gonna talk surprisingly about Skeleton Crew today,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and of course our main topic of discussion is the
- 2:51Speaker 1: Star Wars a New Dawn book review. This, of course,
- 2:56Speaker 1: is a novel that was the first acknowledgment of Cortosis
- 3:04Speaker 1: in canon. Uh so that's why it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Was also the very first canon book written, was it? Yep?
- 3:16Speaker 1: So okay, hold on, it was the first canon book written.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But the Lords of the Sith timeline wise, technically was
- 3:27Speaker 1: the first book written? Right? I didn't we have this
- 3:30Speaker 1: discussion before.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Uh, Lords of the Sith was one of the first,
- 3:37Speaker 2: but A New Dawn was the first.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Ah?
- 3:41Speaker 2: Okay, okay, So he had just written and published Knobi
- 3:51Speaker 2: and then where was it? I don't remember where I
- 3:59Speaker 2: was at. I thought there was like so like some
- 4:04Speaker 2: of these books initial books for Cannon were written for
- 4:10Speaker 2: legends and then repurposed for Cannon. So I was trying
- 4:15Speaker 2: to figure out if it was one of those. But yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 2: Miller was two Yeah, Miller was two thirds of the
- 4:23Speaker 2: way through writing the novel when he was informed that
- 4:25Speaker 2: it would be the first novel within the New Star
- 4:27Speaker 2: Wars Cannon.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And she is just she has an opinion of her
- 4:33Speaker 1: own when.
- 4:34Speaker 2: It comes to She's so talking right now.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So uh, yes, we're gonna be talking about that book
- 4:46Speaker 1: as well. But let's go ahead and start off with, uh,
- 4:51Speaker 1: the San Diego comic Con. Let's go ahead and just
- 4:53Speaker 1: jump right into that. Uh. From what I have in
- 4:58Speaker 1: my notes here, the first thing that came out was
- 5:04Speaker 1: you thought we were done with the Acolyte hal No,
- 5:08Speaker 1: they said, hold my beer. And two prequel books from
- 5:13Speaker 1: the timeline of the Acolyte have been announced. There is
- 5:17Speaker 1: a untitled novel that is currently in the works that
- 5:23Speaker 1: is h for It is based and Jackie, Yes, starring
- 5:30Speaker 1: Jord and Jackie. And then the other novel is set
- 5:35Speaker 1: twenty years prior. Oh go ahead, sorry.
- 5:38Speaker 2: The Jord and Jackie novel is going to be written
- 5:40Speaker 2: by Tessa Gratton who wrote Temptation of the Force.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yes, that is that is I forgot that small detail. Uh,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and then uh, the second novel is going to be
- 5:50Speaker 1: a novel that's set twenty years before the show. So
- 5:55Speaker 1: we know the timeline that is four years before the
- 6:00Speaker 1: flashbacks in the show, So I want to put that
- 6:03Speaker 1: into consideration as well, and that shows that it seemingly
- 6:08Speaker 1: follows Vernestra and master in Dara. Now, you brought up
- 6:13Speaker 1: a very interesting thing about this. Now I will say
- 6:17Speaker 1: the novel that is being Justina Ireland is the one
- 6:23Speaker 1: that is writing Yes, Way Seeker. That one actually has
- 6:27Speaker 1: a title to it, Yes.
- 6:29Speaker 2: And that makes me super excited because Vernesstra was Justina's
- 6:33Speaker 2: character at the start. So for Justina to be able
- 6:36Speaker 2: to write that transition piece like obviously, it's not like, oh,
- 6:41Speaker 2: here's her one hundred year life between the High Republic
- 6:45Speaker 2: and the Acolyte. But for her to be able to
- 6:47Speaker 2: write the transition piece to get her to where we
- 6:50Speaker 2: see her in the Accolyte is really special, I think to.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Me, I think so as well, because not only do
- 6:55Speaker 1: you get that the transition is all also a really
- 7:01Speaker 1: nice point of being able to do a lot of
- 7:04Speaker 1: callbacks to stuff that she did get to work on
- 7:08Speaker 1: in phases one in three, you know, so, I think
- 7:10Speaker 1: that's going to be very very fun as well. But
- 7:14Speaker 1: you brought up a very interesting point the whole idea
- 7:19Speaker 1: of why these two characters are featured in this novel,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and you suggested that there is a possibility that Master
- 7:29Speaker 1: and Dara was at one point a paddaw on of
- 7:32Speaker 1: ver Nestra Rowe.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I think it could be really interesting and it could
- 7:38Speaker 2: tie in some kinder potential how we see Ernestra act
- 7:45Speaker 2: as a master later on. But what interests me more
- 7:49Speaker 2: is the title is way Seeker, which or Ladrini was
- 7:54Speaker 2: a way seeker, Yeah, the independent Jedi of the Order.
- 7:59Speaker 2: So who's the way seeker in this case? Is vernessha
- 8:02Speaker 2: Like transitioning from being a way seeker.
- 8:06Speaker 1: To council member.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm really interested to see how this works out.
- 8:14Speaker 2: This book is due out in May. Did we get
- 8:18Speaker 2: a date on the Oh yeah, Jord and Jackie is
- 8:25Speaker 2: July of twenty twenty five, and so uh with the
- 8:31Speaker 2: other book that we'll talk about, So that gives us
- 8:33Speaker 2: the February book. Way Seeker is May sixth, twenty twenty five,
- 8:41Speaker 2: Trials of the Jedi is June twenty twenty five, and
- 8:46Speaker 2: then Ord Jekie is July twenty twenty five.
- 8:50Speaker 1: So yeah, very cool.
- 8:53Speaker 2: The Yord and Jeckie book is also the first uh
- 8:57Speaker 2: non High Republic uh Disney book that we're going to
- 9:01Speaker 2: be getting in over a year.
- 9:04Speaker 1: So yeah, that is uh, that is something that that
- 9:13Speaker 1: is happening.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm really excited about this.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Of course I have a new hm. I'm not gonna
- 9:28Speaker 1: say hatred, it's not hatred, but we as a community
- 9:34Speaker 1: should be looking at the Jedi a little differently after
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Acolyte, just saying, so, how does this keep the
- 9:42Speaker 1: same light that you know, we love the High Republic
- 9:46Speaker 1: to be while also still paving the way to where
- 9:50Speaker 1: they will inevitably be in the Acolyte show, Because I
- 9:54Speaker 1: think that's a big thing too, So I don't.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Think you're gonna have a whole lot of light in
- 9:59Speaker 2: this case because you have to show the transition, right,
- 10:02Speaker 2: So that's to show the growth of the character and
- 10:09Speaker 2: like while introducing new ones. So I will be interested
- 10:12Speaker 2: to see how it goes. I think this is just
- 10:15Speaker 2: Sina Ireland's first adult book actually, because Way Seeker is
- 10:18Speaker 2: a Random House World's book, So it'll be interesting to
- 10:22Speaker 2: see her writing style or that, because what I've only
- 10:25Speaker 2: seen from her is the middle grade books and then
- 10:28Speaker 2: the young adult books. Yeah, so, but I have complete
- 10:32Speaker 2: faith in her. Her books have been some of my favorites,
- 10:35Speaker 2: so I'm really excited by the prospect. So the next
- 10:42Speaker 2: bit of news we have, so everyone was thinking that
- 10:45Speaker 2: Cavin Scott's High Republic twenty three run was very short
- 10:50Speaker 2: at only eight issues, but it is actually getting an
- 10:53Speaker 2: additional run the Fear of the Jedi, and it's going
- 10:59Speaker 2: to tie in with the Kal Knaka one shot that
- 11:02Speaker 2: we're getting in September. But the Fear of the Jedi
- 11:06Speaker 2: is going to be starting February of twenty twenty five,
- 11:08Speaker 2: so it's getting a little bit of a break and
- 11:12Speaker 2: then it will be continuing with uh, Kiev, kal Knaka,
- 11:18Speaker 2: Lorna De and some others that I'm not going to
- 11:20Speaker 2: spoil because we will be talking about those later on.
- 11:22Speaker 2: This will but I enjoy that, and especially to get
- 11:27Speaker 2: kil Naka involved in that. That'll be a lot of fun.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be really really fun to see his
- 11:37Speaker 1: development as a character, because we didn't see a lot
- 11:41Speaker 1: of development in the show. Uh, of course we're gonna
- 11:43Speaker 1: see where he's at. I can't remember the kal Knaka
- 11:49Speaker 1: one shot. Was that supposed to be set after the
- 11:52Speaker 1: events of the flashback? Or is it?
- 11:55Speaker 2: No, it's a Republic tie in.
- 11:59Speaker 1: So oh, because I thought there was somebody that said, uh,
- 12:06Speaker 1: the tattoo on his head has to do with something
- 12:10Speaker 1: with like his like self banishment.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Oh I may be wrong. So here so okay, hang on,
- 12:32Speaker 2: So here he is cooking and doesn't he have the
- 12:37Speaker 2: tattoo right here? Isn't that the tattoo?
- 12:41Speaker 1: That is a good question. How not the.
- 12:46Speaker 2: That's not it?
- 12:54Speaker 1: There's nowhere that shows Oh wait, actually I see so
- 13:00Speaker 1: there's a shot of him. No, there's a shot of
- 13:07Speaker 1: him actually talking to a young Osha outside of their
- 13:14Speaker 1: ship when it's daylight and you can actually see the
- 13:17Speaker 1: tattoo on his head. Okay, So so I was mistaken.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So but it may be how he gets the tattoo.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Okay, because because I thought I heard somebody say that, Yes,
- 13:33Speaker 1: there will be an explanation of why he has the
- 13:36Speaker 1: tattoo or whatever. So that'll be fun. But also it
- 13:41Speaker 1: helps us with like the rate. Now I'm not sure
- 13:44Speaker 1: they'll give us a specific like age, but like, yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 1: Fear the Jedi has some of the characters that we
- 13:52Speaker 1: are seeing in Phase three, and we're seeing him in
- 13:58Speaker 1: the act light one hundred years later, so like how
- 14:02Speaker 1: long has he been a Jedi at this point? You know?
- 14:04Speaker 1: Is he yeah, just starting out? Is he a new Jedi? Night? Like,
- 14:08Speaker 1: that's the stuff that I'm interested in. Some of the
- 14:12Speaker 1: lore of that would be nice.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So the one shot says, delve deep into the history
- 14:20Speaker 2: of Kolm Knaka in the world of the Higher Republic
- 14:22Speaker 2: in this bombastic one shot. It also includes an exclusive
- 14:26Speaker 2: interview with Jonas Swotama, the Kal Knaka actor. So yeah,
- 14:34Speaker 2: that's just kind of what it says. Oh yeah, he said,
- 14:40Speaker 2: uh oh the comic. In the interview about the comic,
- 14:45Speaker 2: Scott said he was excited to connect the act Lite
- 14:47Speaker 2: with previous Higher Republic media, and that kil Knaka was
- 14:50Speaker 2: the perfect character to do so. He also revealed that
- 14:52Speaker 2: the comic would explain the meeting behind the kill Knaka's
- 14:55Speaker 2: mysterious tattoos.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So there you go, boom, there we go. Uh So, yeah,
- 15:01Speaker 1: lots of fun. Looking forward to reading all of that.
- 15:06Speaker 1: But the other news that we received, and I just
- 15:10Speaker 1: want to make sure that I'm not skipping over anything,
- 15:14Speaker 1: what we are also getting from that panel was the
- 15:19Speaker 1: Art of the Higher Republic by Christian Volume two by
- 15:24Speaker 1: Christian Baber. I love this cover. It's so good, is amazing. Now.
- 15:34Speaker 1: The only thing.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Is it says cover not final, cover.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Not final for one, but that's seemingly avar yep. Then
- 15:50Speaker 1: we have Vernestra. Who is that?
- 15:55Speaker 2: That's Bell?
- 15:58Speaker 1: No? Yeah, Bell has had so many different hairstyles in
- 16:04Speaker 1: the Higher Republic, which I appreciate, but also like, I
- 16:10Speaker 1: think he's looked different in everywhere that he actually has,
- 16:15Speaker 1: like art and like showing of him, he's looked different
- 16:19Speaker 1: than every single one. So that's the only thing that
- 16:22Speaker 1: gets me bet, Like, who is this person? Yeah? I
- 16:26Speaker 1: don't remember him having a green lightsaber? Though I think
- 16:32Speaker 1: he's sill.
- 16:33Speaker 2: He swapped because he lost it in the rising storm.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Oh that's right, Yeah, that's right. So that's awesome, beautiful art.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I do hope that it is the final cover because
- 16:50Speaker 1: you also have the Nameless behind them with the eyes. Yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: it just it looks great. I absolutely love it. We do.
- 17:01Speaker 1: There was another in this thread that says that we
- 17:04Speaker 1: are also getting a visual guide to the Acolyte as well.
- 17:08Speaker 2: By Pablo Hidalgo, so that's exciting.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yes, it is coming out July of twenty twenty five,
- 17:13Speaker 1: so in about a year from now. And they also
- 17:17Speaker 1: had a.
- 17:20Speaker 2: The Art of the Acolyte, which is also by Kristen Baber.
- 17:24Speaker 2: It does contain a foreword by Leslie Headlund, who also
- 17:29Speaker 2: appeared via video at the panel, and she said for
- 17:33Speaker 2: light in life at the end, so like, I love that.
- 17:38Speaker 2: So that's all exciting. The other part of the panel
- 17:41Speaker 2: was kind of a deep dive interview with the actors
- 17:46Speaker 2: the voice actors of Star Wars Outlaws, so that is
- 17:51Speaker 2: all the quotes and everything. Start Us Records was at
- 17:55Speaker 2: the panel and they tweeted a whole thread, so thank
- 18:01Speaker 2: you very much for live tweeting this up You're the
- 18:03Speaker 2: reason that we're able to talk about these things because
- 18:06Speaker 2: otherwise what we do. So they have all the quotes
- 18:10Speaker 2: and stuff from interview within that. The other part of
- 18:15Speaker 2: Star Wars Outlaws is but why though a great local
- 18:19Speaker 2: not a great small site, indie news site run by
- 18:23Speaker 2: Kate Sanchez, she was able to do an interview with
- 18:30Speaker 2: the actress for Kaves, Humberly Gonzalez, and the narrative director
- 18:36Speaker 2: Navid Kavari, about Kaves, her journey and impact of having
- 18:40Speaker 2: a Latina lead in Star Wars video games. So I
- 18:44Speaker 2: did not get a chance to read this interview, but
- 18:47Speaker 2: I highly encourage you to go read this. Kate is
- 18:51Speaker 2: an incredible interviewer, so I'm very excited to get to
- 18:55Speaker 2: read this later. So, yeah, there's that. Uh, do you
- 18:59Speaker 2: want to talk about the reactions that we got to
- 19:02Speaker 2: some of the content creators and outlets that got to
- 19:04Speaker 2: play Star Wars Outlets just kind of give people an
- 19:07Speaker 2: idea of what too.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's go ahead and take a look at that.
- 19:13Speaker 1: So this comes from Star Wars News, not saying various
- 19:17Speaker 1: content creators and outlets have gotten a chance to play
- 19:20Speaker 1: four hours of Star Wars Outlaws from IGN I'm not
- 19:23Speaker 1: sure Outlaws will master any of its gameplay components. It's
- 19:27Speaker 1: nonetheless not only does them all very well, but it
- 19:31Speaker 1: does so with a convincing Star Wars machine. So one
- 19:35Speaker 1: thing that I have been seeing a lot from the
- 19:39Speaker 1: general audience and kind of their opinions, and sometimes it's like,
- 19:42Speaker 1: you know, the the whole like push up glasses. You know, oh,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'm smarter than the type of people also trying to
- 19:49Speaker 1: say this that you know, graphics may not look one
- 19:54Speaker 1: like some of the biggest games out there, take it
- 19:57Speaker 1: for what it is. This game does the gorgeous I've
- 20:00Speaker 1: seen a lot of the gameplay that has been released.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I've kind of stayed away from a lot of the
- 20:06Speaker 1: heavy story trailers because I don't want to spoil myself
- 20:10Speaker 1: and I want to have the full experience. But I
- 20:14Speaker 1: have been seeing people say that, like, Okay, this doesn't
- 20:16Speaker 1: look like the most amazing game everywhere. But it's what
- 20:21Speaker 1: we've been saying along every form of media is not
- 20:25Speaker 1: everything needs to be bombastic. It's okay to have okay things.
- 20:29Speaker 1: It's okay to have great things, it's okay to have
- 20:31Speaker 1: amazing things. It's the wide variety that I'm looking for
- 20:36Speaker 1: when it comes to Star Wars. Content from Star Wars
- 20:40Speaker 1: explains says, everything I experienced was promising. There was some
- 20:44Speaker 1: gameplay hiccups here and there, but nothing that I felt
- 20:47Speaker 1: was a deal breaker. We played for four hours and
- 20:50Speaker 1: I feel like we barely scratched the surface. And I
- 20:52Speaker 1: see that as a good sign. Let's see here trying
- 20:58Speaker 1: to get some other individual that may be bigger in
- 21:02Speaker 1: the space that people know about. No one really that
- 21:07Speaker 1: I recognize. But from g T twenty seven status, none
- 21:12Speaker 1: of the content felt overwhelming, which is good. Which is
- 21:15Speaker 1: a good feeling to have, especially in a ubisoff game,
- 21:18Speaker 1: which is known to do quite the opposite and distract
- 21:21Speaker 1: you every step of the way. This is also something
- 21:25Speaker 1: that has a lot of gamers like worried about outlaws.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Is hey, you know, let's push all of this content
- 21:36Speaker 1: out as well as hey, we're gonna put an inside
- 21:39Speaker 1: stores so that way you can, you know, spend all
- 21:41Speaker 1: your money there and all these other things. And from
- 21:46Speaker 1: the sound of not feeling very overwhelmed is fun because
- 21:52Speaker 1: more often than than not, a lot of people, since
- 21:55Speaker 1: I would say about COVID, people want cozy game. People
- 22:00Speaker 1: want something that you're going to be able to sit
- 22:03Speaker 1: down and enjoy your time with seeing that in a
- 22:06Speaker 1: lot of these reactions for Outlaws. So I'm very excited about.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That, Yeah, for sure. And I'm excited to watch Matt play.
- 22:16Speaker 2: I think MAT's already pre ordered it.
- 22:18Speaker 1: It's yep.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Well, and I will cozy up with a book and
- 22:24Speaker 2: watching the video games. So that's all on Outlaws, No
- 22:31Speaker 2: people dot com. I do not want you to send
- 22:34Speaker 2: me notifications, not at all, all right. So the other
- 22:40Speaker 2: small piece of news that we have is it looks
- 22:43Speaker 2: like Crimson Rain is going to be collected as an omnibus,
- 22:47Speaker 2: and that is due out in April twenty twenty five.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's going to collect the whole mini series for Crimson Rain,
- 22:55Speaker 2: Star Wars Volume three, so that's issues nineteen through twenty five,
- 23:01Speaker 2: Bounty Hunters eighteen through twenty four, Darth Vader Volume three
- 23:06Speaker 2: eighteen to twenty four, and Doctor Afra Volume two sixteen
- 23:11Speaker 2: to twenty one. So that's what you can expect for
- 23:16Speaker 2: their I would assume after this they're going to do
- 23:19Speaker 2: a Hidden Empire omnibus just to kind of knock all
- 23:23Speaker 2: three out. I'm not planning on picking this one up.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I've kind of figured out that omnibusses just aren't for me.
- 23:29Speaker 2: They look super cool, but I also enjoy I do
- 23:34Speaker 2: enjoy reading my physical media, even though I have access
- 23:37Speaker 2: to them like VI on Marvel Unlimited and things. But
- 23:41Speaker 2: eventually I'm going to drop Marble Unlimited and I'd like
- 23:43Speaker 2: to go back and read the physical copies. But an
- 23:46Speaker 2: omnibus is just gigantic.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It's massive, and there's a lot of people, Katie. It's
- 23:53Speaker 1: gonna sound crazy, but there are people that literally buy
- 23:57Speaker 1: these things just for decor because they look that nice.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And I don't blame them. They look amazing, but these
- 24:07Speaker 1: are very equatable to that of what we used to call.
- 24:13Speaker 1: I don't know if a lot of people use them anymore,
- 24:15Speaker 1: but coffee table books. They're huge, So I can totally
- 24:21Speaker 1: understand not jumping on the omnibus bandwagon.
- 24:27Speaker 2: If yeah, something like this would be a little more
- 24:30Speaker 2: manageable because it's not that many issues. But like, the
- 24:33Speaker 2: only thing I could pick up for the first run
- 24:37Speaker 2: of Doctor Afra was the omnibus. They didn't make the trades,
- 24:41Speaker 2: like they weren't making the epic collections at the time,
- 24:44Speaker 2: so I couldn't grab those and the Doctor Afro omnibus
- 24:49Speaker 2: is a thousand pages. Yeah, he's ridiculous, But like Canaan
- 24:55Speaker 2: for instance, is twenty five issues, that's not that bad.
- 24:59Speaker 2: The Charles Sole Darth Vader run twenty five issues not
- 25:04Speaker 2: a bad omnibus, but like a thousand pages, like come on, really,
- 25:08Speaker 2: like that's ridiculous.
- 25:10Speaker 1: It gets a little overwhelming sometimes because you know, for me,
- 25:16Speaker 1: me and Chris had this conversation in the idea of
- 25:20Speaker 1: getting the Invincible Omnibuses versus or getting the hardcover volumes
- 25:27Speaker 1: other than the compendium, and the reason being the compendium
- 25:30Speaker 1: only comes in paperback. With it being a stack of
- 25:36Speaker 1: over a thousand pages, you start to bend that spine
- 25:40Speaker 1: and it can really start to damage the book. So yeah,
- 25:44Speaker 1: that's why for me, I've stayed away from the compendium
- 25:47Speaker 1: off of Chris's recommendation, and I just went with the
- 25:51Speaker 1: graphic novels. So something to consider for those of you
- 25:56Speaker 1: who haven't really looked into omnibuses that much, But yeah,
- 26:01Speaker 1: do your research if it's not something that you'll be
- 26:04Speaker 1: able to lug around when it really isn't, like if
- 26:07Speaker 1: you're like, hey, let's take this, you know, on the
- 26:12Speaker 1: on the plane while I go fly. It's it's hefty,
- 26:15Speaker 1: and I think it might actually surpass the weight limit
- 26:19Speaker 1: for a carry on.
- 26:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I went underbers bet on that. All right,
- 26:29Speaker 2: So should we talk about the other piece of book
- 26:31Speaker 2: news that we got.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yes, this one is very exciting. Uh only well for
- 26:38Speaker 1: two reasons. Uh we get to confirm the identity of
- 26:46Speaker 1: For one, yes, it does exist.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:49Speaker 1: But two I thought it was really cool the way
- 26:51Speaker 1: they revealed it. Tom wanted to have some fun on Twitter,
- 26:55Speaker 1: and he wanted to have some fun on Twitter, and
- 26:59Speaker 1: he actually made it into a guessing game. He said, Hey, guys,
- 27:03Speaker 1: if anybody can guess what this book is about before
- 27:07Speaker 1: I reveal it, I'll give out a free copy of
- 27:10Speaker 1: the book. So it was, I believe from when I
- 27:17Speaker 1: am looking at our timeline, it was the twenty ninth.
- 27:24Speaker 1: It was the twenty eighth when he started to open
- 27:28Speaker 1: up that guessing game, and it was the twenty ninth
- 27:31Speaker 1: when it was revealed. Tom revealed that somebody got the
- 27:35Speaker 1: right era, like the right around the same time frame
- 27:39Speaker 1: as when the book is supposed to be taking place
- 27:42Speaker 1: in the topic, but not necessarily the exact subject. But
- 27:48Speaker 1: because they were so close, he is going to go
- 27:50Speaker 1: ahead and send them a copy of this novel, and Katie,
- 27:53Speaker 1: you want to go ahead and share that reveal.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yes, So this is a brand new Star Wars book
- 28:03Speaker 2: trilogy which has been previously done with Aftermath and Alphabet Squadron.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And so this trilogy is entitled Star Wars Reign of
- 28:13Speaker 2: the Empire. Oh, I'm sorry. The other trilogy is Thrown Ascendency.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I forgot about that one. And in Tom's tweet, he
- 28:23Speaker 2: says this is a trilogy charting the rise of the
- 28:25Speaker 2: Rebellion across the near two decades between episode three and
- 28:30Speaker 2: episode four. The first book is entitled The Mask of
- 28:35Speaker 2: Fear and it is by Alexander Freed. The next two
- 28:40Speaker 2: books are by Rebecca Ronehorse and fran wild.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Yes, and you did a little bit of research for me,
- 28:48Speaker 1: or at least you filled in some information for me.
- 28:52Speaker 1: You told me everything that these individuals have written in
- 28:56Speaker 1: the Star Wars universe.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yep.
- 29:00Speaker 1: So, fran Wilde wrote no contingency in the From a
- 29:06Speaker 1: Certain point of View Returns. Freed wrote Alphabet Squadron, Rogue
- 29:11Speaker 1: One and Battlefront Twilight Company, along with two short stories
- 29:15Speaker 1: in The New.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Hope From a Certain Point of view and Empire Strikes
- 29:22Speaker 2: Back from a certain point of view.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and Ronhorse wrote Resistance Reborn, So I am not
- 29:29Speaker 1: familiar with Resistance Reborn, but I have read both A
- 29:36Speaker 1: New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, so I've had a
- 29:40Speaker 1: little bit of their writing from Wild and Freed, so
- 29:47Speaker 1: very exciting things. So on this we'll go ahead, go ahead.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So sorry, just to give some context. Fred also wrote
- 29:56Speaker 2: some Star Wars Legends comics, but I didn't include those here,
- 30:01Speaker 2: just to kind of summarize their cannon work. But Alphabet
- 30:04Speaker 2: Squadron is a trilogy that takes place right after Return
- 30:09Speaker 2: of the Jedi and is about a fighter squadron of
- 30:14Speaker 2: different ships. He also wrote the The Rogue One obviously
- 30:19Speaker 2: novel adaptation, and then Battlefront Toilet Company. I have not
- 30:23Speaker 2: had the chance to read, but that is also that's
- 30:25Speaker 2: based on the video game. So Resistance Reborn is about
- 30:33Speaker 2: it transitions uh the Last Jedi to Rise of the Skywalker,
- 30:37Speaker 2: Rise of Skywalker, and so she writes about how the
- 30:43Speaker 2: Resistance tries to get more people involved in the failings
- 30:49Speaker 2: in that and then kind of rates the interactions with
- 30:53Speaker 2: Poe and Leah to kind of get Poe to grow
- 30:56Speaker 2: up a little bit more in that case, especially since
- 31:01Speaker 2: we knew that Carrie Fisher had died at that point,
- 31:03Speaker 2: so this story was going to be transitioning and not
- 31:07Speaker 2: able to tackle her as much. So this is really
- 31:10Speaker 2: well done story by Rebecca, and I know some of
- 31:13Speaker 2: her other books are really well loved, So I'm glad
- 31:16Speaker 2: to see I Love Friend, wild Manmathma Story and Return
- 31:21Speaker 2: and from a certain point of view, Returns. Freed writes
- 31:25Speaker 2: incredibly and like I said, I loved Resistance Reporns. So
- 31:28Speaker 2: all three of these authors super excited to see these
- 31:31Speaker 2: come out. I am wondering about the release schedule, and
- 31:37Speaker 2: they're only it's only a year apart, So it's Mask
- 31:42Speaker 2: of Fear is February twenty fifth, twenty twenty five, and
- 31:49Speaker 2: then book two is Spring twenty twenty six. Book three
- 31:54Speaker 2: is Spring for twenty seven, so it's only a year apart.
- 31:59Speaker 2: But like you have other authors, like the same author
- 32:04Speaker 2: is not writing the whole.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Trilogy, So I do have an opinion on that, and
- 32:10Speaker 1: I think what it has to do is the newly
- 32:17Speaker 1: like setup that Charles Soul and everybody at the High
- 32:23Speaker 1: Republic and the way that they decided to go with
- 32:27Speaker 1: in in Phase three, they said that they wanted to
- 32:34Speaker 1: make a point to not have so many so many
- 32:42Speaker 1: releases in one year, so that way readers didn't feel overwhelmed.
- 32:48Speaker 1: And I think this might be an actual, like good
- 32:53Speaker 1: basis for a plan with probably all of Star Wars
- 32:58Speaker 1: novels moving forward. And I know, oh, it's a little
- 33:00Speaker 1: trickly tricky based off of not all of Star Wars
- 33:06Speaker 1: books are under one publisher, you know, Disney, Random House, Worlds,
- 33:11Speaker 1: all these other things. Right, So I think what they
- 33:15Speaker 1: are doing as publishing as a whole is saying, hey,
- 33:21Speaker 1: we're going to make this wide release of novels make
- 33:28Speaker 1: more sense for the quote unquote average reader. So instead
- 33:34Speaker 1: of having this entire trilogy come out in say a
- 33:40Speaker 1: year and a half, they're like, Okay, if you were
- 33:47Speaker 1: picking this up because you are a Star Wars fan,
- 33:50Speaker 1: you are most likely picking up all of our other novels.
- 33:54Speaker 1: So we're going to pace these out so that way
- 33:58Speaker 1: you can pick up other things and not just this
- 34:01Speaker 1: one trilogy. I think that is ultimately the goal for
- 34:06Speaker 1: Lucasfilm Publishing.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. I guess I'm just used to
- 34:13Speaker 2: like legends really, sorry, y'all have a baby fat me
- 34:18Speaker 2: for sleep. You're okay, I guess. I'm just used to
- 34:24Speaker 2: the Star Wars Leggend series where it was like you
- 34:26Speaker 2: had Spring and then you had Fault. You had Spring
- 34:28Speaker 2: and then you had Fault, and it's just kind of
- 34:30Speaker 2: continued based on that, especially when you had other authors involved.
- 34:34Speaker 2: So but like you said, that makes sense to like
- 34:38Speaker 2: spread out, and then that gives you an opportunity for
- 34:40Speaker 2: a fall release with something else if you want to,
- 34:43Speaker 2: I'm not saying.
- 34:46Speaker 1: And I think more so we were spoiled with the
- 34:50Speaker 1: High Republic Initiative having like all of these waves planned
- 34:54Speaker 1: out and coming out through you know, throughout the year
- 34:57Speaker 1: and everything else. Uh So when something new comes, you're like, okay,
- 35:01Speaker 1: like we're going to be seeing this come out pretty quickly,
- 35:05Speaker 1: but instead, you know, it's going to take a full
- 35:09Speaker 1: three years for this to come into a conclusion, from
- 35:13Speaker 1: the announcement all the way until we actually see the
- 35:17Speaker 1: finale of this trilogy. Some things that I actually wanted
- 35:21Speaker 1: to bring up in this thread that Tom wrote over
- 35:24Speaker 1: the weekend or I guess two days ago, not over
- 35:29Speaker 1: the weekend. Either way, I highly recommend you go through
- 35:32Speaker 1: all of this thread. So go check out Tom at
- 35:35Speaker 1: darth interness on Twitter. So the things that I wanted
- 35:42Speaker 1: to bring up on this thread, He says, the entire
- 35:44Speaker 1: goal of this trilogy was to tell stories with this. Well, first,
- 35:48Speaker 1: before I go to this one, he says, you want
- 35:50Speaker 1: more Star Wars Reign of the Empire details, here's the
- 35:54Speaker 1: thread on them. First. The book one title is, of course,
- 35:57Speaker 1: Bask of Fear. He says, oppression is the mask of fear.
- 36:02Speaker 1: This is a quote from Mnemic. This is not a
- 36:05Speaker 1: direct and or tie in, not a Knemic book, is
- 36:08Speaker 1: what he is saying, but that perfectly captures the tone
- 36:11Speaker 1: of what this story will be about. He says, the
- 36:14Speaker 1: entire goal of the trilogy was to tell stories with
- 36:16Speaker 1: the same intent, specific specificity, sense of place and people
- 36:23Speaker 1: and saying something is real, or saying something real that
- 36:28Speaker 1: and Or does you know that whole entire feeling that
- 36:32Speaker 1: we got from and Or was like, holy crap, this
- 36:34Speaker 1: is like the oppression and the darkness and like you
- 36:38Speaker 1: are in the thick of it. This is what this
- 36:41Speaker 1: trilogy is going to be about. He said. We wanted
- 36:44Speaker 1: to honor that the best we could acknowledging it's a
- 36:47Speaker 1: bit of a ludicrous and lofty goal. He does say
- 36:50Speaker 1: here that each book will cover one portion of the
- 36:53Speaker 1: near twenty year gap, starting with book one during Empire
- 36:57Speaker 1: year one. The series will jo forward with each book.
- 37:02Speaker 1: We're really taking advantage of the amount of time so
- 37:04Speaker 1: each book can be a full, complete story, he says,
- 37:10Speaker 1: kind of like House of the Dragon Season one did,
- 37:12Speaker 1: so for those of you who are fans of House
- 37:16Speaker 1: of the Dragon, they're kind of taking inspiration on how
- 37:21Speaker 1: the time is moving in this trilogy. So there is that,
- 37:26Speaker 1: And then the last thing that I want to bring up,
- 37:29Speaker 1: he says, Man Mafma, Sagarera, and Bail Organa are absolutely
- 37:34Speaker 1: our pillar characters. But this series is also going to
- 37:38Speaker 1: introduce new and original characters, some who will pass from
- 37:41Speaker 1: book to book and brow change and evolve across the series.
- 37:47Speaker 1: So very very fun things to look forward to in
- 37:51Speaker 1: this new trilogy. You know, of course, Travis doesn't necessarily
- 37:57Speaker 1: love this because it is in the quote unquote dark time,
- 38:00Speaker 1: but it is from what we've experienced in and or
- 38:08Speaker 1: some of the greatest time to do some real stories.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So yeah, and.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Tom actually addressed that because somebody talked about it. I
- 38:20Speaker 2: can't locate the tweet at the moment, y'all, So I'm sorry,
- 38:24Speaker 2: but to the best of my recall, he said that
- 38:27Speaker 2: this was absolutely something they considered that this time period
- 38:33Speaker 2: had been covered multiple times already, but that's why they
- 38:37Speaker 2: decided to tell more of a political based story and
- 38:40Speaker 2: how the rebellion gets started and kind of the consequences
- 38:47Speaker 2: and successes that go along with that, telling more niche
- 38:51Speaker 2: story versus kind of a general conflict area.
- 38:57Speaker 1: So it's also nice that they acknowledge it, though, Like
- 39:03Speaker 1: that's the big thing that I saw from that. So
- 39:07Speaker 1: but I think that is it for all of the
- 39:11Speaker 1: publishing news.
- 39:13Speaker 2: All right, y'all, we're going to hit our first ad
- 39:15Speaker 2: break and we will be right back in three two.
- 39:18Speaker 1: One, and I think we can go on to the
- 39:24Speaker 1: news that we got today.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Which I'm so happy we got it today. Thank you
- 39:29Speaker 2: Disney for dropping this on a Wednesday and not on
- 39:32Speaker 2: Thursday like you typically do.
- 39:35Speaker 1: We usually get Star Wars news on Thursday. But the
- 39:40Speaker 1: news that we got from People Magazine is Skeleton Crew
- 39:46Speaker 1: is going to be premiering on Disday plus December third.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Yes, we have a date, Yes, a date, so exciting.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I'm really pumped by this. So the pictures first look
- 40:06Speaker 2: is all on people dot com and I believe it's
- 40:10Speaker 2: an interview specifically with Jus Law about different elements of
- 40:15Speaker 2: the show and everything. But can you pull up the pictures?
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so let's go ahead and jump here and I
- 40:23Speaker 1: will share my screen. She's so close, ye, So looking
- 40:32Speaker 1: at the people website, let's go to the first picture.
- 40:37Speaker 1: This one has been going around. Of course. This was
- 40:40Speaker 1: actually a part of the sizzle reel, you know screenshot
- 40:44Speaker 1: that they showed. Gosh, was it two years ago? Now?
- 40:49Speaker 1: I can't actually, yeah, I don't think.
- 40:51Speaker 2: This was part of the trailer that they showed, like,
- 40:55Speaker 2: this was part of like the press release that they did.
- 40:59Speaker 2: But it's a picture law for listeners with the kids
- 41:02Speaker 2: behind him, and Jude Law is kind of like smiling
- 41:06Speaker 2: off like huzza, like I'm ready for adventure almost.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Yeah, this is the first photo that we've already seen.
- 41:16Speaker 1: The new photos that we have are characters Neil and Whim.
- 41:26Speaker 1: These are played by Robert Timothy Smith and Robbie kabbat
- 41:30Speaker 1: Kun yeers. So they look like they are on some
- 41:35Speaker 1: sort of speeders. They're actually walking these speeders through what
- 41:39Speaker 1: looks like a forest. I really like the tones that
- 41:44Speaker 1: we're already seeing from compared to one photo to the next. Yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 1: I really enjoy that. We next get a photo of
- 41:53Speaker 1: Jude Law and all of the kids in the ship,
- 41:57Speaker 1: says we are and I guess this is the first
- 42:00Speaker 1: confirmation of the character names as well. From left to right,
- 42:04Speaker 1: we are seeing whim uh John now John non now
- 42:10Speaker 1: Wood is uh Oh, that's actually Jude Law's character is
- 42:16Speaker 1: uh jod Nonawwood is his name? Weird, KB, Neil and
- 42:25Speaker 1: Fern are all the characters that we're gonna be dealing
- 42:29Speaker 1: with in the Skeleton Crew. And then we also have
- 42:38Speaker 1: a picture here that has a droid. It is thirty three.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Yep, and he is voiced by Nick Frost.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Yes, which I'm actually really excited about Nick Frost. Uh
- 42:53Speaker 1: is a little bit of a comfort actor for me,
- 42:58Speaker 1: of course. He shoot, I just had one of his
- 43:03Speaker 1: favorite roles in my head and then it just disappeared.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I have no idea who he is. If that makes
- 43:08Speaker 2: you feel.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Better, So I will actually show you, because I did
- 43:13Speaker 1: actually pull up an article in r Guy Chat earlier today.
- 43:21Speaker 1: If it hasn't already been taken down, I don't think
- 43:24Speaker 1: it has right here, so I will show this one.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So I know that you've seen this guy because he
- 43:40Speaker 1: was Santa Claus in Peter Capaldi's.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Special Wow, No Go to Sleep. Sorry that she was
- 43:54Speaker 2: so close. Okay, So.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Nick Frost had played Santa Claus. He was in
- 44:04Speaker 1: Shanna the Dead, he was in oh what was that
- 44:10Speaker 1: alien movie? Alan? I think it was called the one
- 44:16Speaker 1: with Seth Rogan and Simon Pegg. I can't name remember
- 44:23Speaker 1: the name of it, but yeah, he says he's like
- 44:29Speaker 1: a rusty, old, cranky droid that sort of reluctantly helps
- 44:32Speaker 1: the kids along the way. So in my mind, a
- 44:38Speaker 1: lot of like the Fun Droids and Star Wars have
- 44:42Speaker 1: a little bit of sass. Sounds like thirty three is
- 44:46Speaker 1: gonna have a little bit of sass in this show
- 44:49Speaker 1: as well, so looking forward to it. That's I don't
- 44:55Speaker 1: know if there was anything else pertaining to Skeleton Crew
- 45:02Speaker 1: that really showed up in our feeds.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yeah, this was the big interview. I think the biggest
- 45:10Speaker 2: thing was the character names and then Nick Frost. They
- 45:16Speaker 2: did and I'm only saying this because of the title
- 45:19Speaker 2: of the People article. They say, there's a lot of
- 45:21Speaker 2: Easter eggs that you'll be able to catch, as well
- 45:24Speaker 2: as some direct references to how a New Hope, Empire,
- 45:29Speaker 2: Strike's Back, and Return of the Jedi were all filmed,
- 45:34Speaker 2: like just the way they were filmed. Yeah, so that'd
- 45:37Speaker 2: be interesting to see. I'm not a huge fan of like,
- 45:40Speaker 2: oh yeah, here's Easter eggs, Like why do you have
- 45:43Speaker 2: to like, why do you have to say there's a
- 45:45Speaker 2: lot of Easter eggs?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Like, I know, I think like one of the big
- 45:50Speaker 1: things that we had learned prior to this interview was
- 45:56Speaker 1: the fact that there was a lot of inspiration to
- 45:59Speaker 1: like go back and use some of like old school
- 46:02Speaker 1: filmography for this show. So that's that's nothing new yet,
- 46:12Speaker 1: but we'll see how all of that plays out when
- 46:14Speaker 1: we actually review it at the beginning of December. So
- 46:18Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, I mean twenty twenty four, we technically
- 46:21Speaker 1: got it right, but right off the cusp, just like
- 46:24Speaker 1: Boba fet So that is it for our new segment.
- 46:31Speaker 1: We don't have anything else there to talk about, So
- 46:35Speaker 1: let's go ahead and move right into our review. In
- 46:38Speaker 1: our main topic for tonight, which is Star Wars a
- 46:43Speaker 1: New Dawn.
- 46:45Speaker 2: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 46:49Speaker 2: be right back.
- 46:51Speaker 1: This is, of course, like Katie said, the first canon
- 46:55Speaker 1: novel of Disney Star Wars.
- 46:58Speaker 2: And.
- 47:00Speaker 1: This is the movie. This is the story of how
- 47:07Speaker 1: Canaan and Harrah Met. So, Katie, you have read this
- 47:14Speaker 1: one before? Correct?
- 47:16Speaker 3: No?
- 47:16Speaker 2: I have not. This was the first time I read it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Wow. So this is a first for both of us.
- 47:21Speaker 1: This is gonna be fun.
- 47:24Speaker 2: It's like it's like the first time this happened.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Right, I mean that from from a novel that is older. Yes,
- 47:31Speaker 1: of course we read new books all the time, but
- 47:35Speaker 1: this is the first time that we are both jumping
- 47:37Speaker 1: on board to a new or an older book that
- 47:42Speaker 1: is new for both of us. Of course. The author
- 47:44Speaker 1: of this is John Jackson Miller, with a forward from
- 47:49Speaker 1: Dave Faloney. So, Katie, how did you feel about the Well,
- 48:00Speaker 1: I'll say this, this was a little bit harder for
- 48:05Speaker 1: me to get through. I found myself dozing a lot
- 48:10Speaker 1: while listening to this, But I will say this flowed
- 48:17Speaker 1: and just of course, these are some very iconic characters
- 48:21Speaker 1: and loving characters in one of the best relationship goals
- 48:25Speaker 1: in Star Wars. This felt like a Rebels episode, like
- 48:29Speaker 1: a very long Rebels episode to like the jokes to
- 48:35Speaker 1: kind of like the the same way that characters inside
- 48:40Speaker 1: Rebels sneak around the empire facilities and all of that,
- 48:47Speaker 1: like it all had it had everything in there, which
- 48:52Speaker 1: I thought was really really fun.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I really every time I talk character, sorry, where
- 49:05Speaker 2: was uh I really enjoyed getting these perspectives on Canaan
- 49:11Speaker 2: and Harrah. I also kind of really enjoyed Skelly and
- 49:17Speaker 2: is it Saluna? Yes, yeah, they. Miller actually really developed
- 49:25Speaker 2: them all quite nicely. It was nice to see him
- 49:30Speaker 2: tackle a smaller cast. M h like even Videan. Videan
- 49:37Speaker 2: like the the main villain in this case was like
- 49:43Speaker 2: really well developed and like had a neat backstory, He
- 49:48Speaker 2: had motives and everything. He Miller was very tight knit
- 49:53Speaker 2: with this one. I enjoyed this one a lot more
- 49:56Speaker 2: than I did the Living Force, I think it and
- 49:59Speaker 2: again I think it's particular particularly because of the small
- 50:04Speaker 2: cast uh involved. I like that we start off and
- 50:14Speaker 2: this doesn't really pertain to the biggest the big parts
- 50:18Speaker 2: of the story that I like, the big the prologue where.
- 50:23Speaker 1: Prolog rips rips my heart apart, that's what it does.
- 50:30Speaker 1: The opening has uh Obi Wan Kenobi teaching uh uh
- 50:39Speaker 1: no shoot, yeah, including Canaan, and you know, and he
- 50:45Speaker 1: is telling them about the protocol that they have to
- 50:50Speaker 1: get a hold of every Jedi out in the galaxy.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Of course we know that this is very very relevant
- 50:59Speaker 1: to our wars because obi Wan himself has had to use.
- 51:04Speaker 2: It and one actually gives him the idea.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's what is so heartbreaking. The transition from
- 51:15Speaker 1: the prologue to this book to immediately going to Canaan
- 51:22Speaker 1: makes you realize, like, oh man, like.
- 51:26Speaker 2: It just rips your heart out.
- 51:28Speaker 1: It does, like the fact that he was bold enough
- 51:33Speaker 1: to even question, hey, why, like what about if we
- 51:38Speaker 1: tell everybody to leave Chorussant or leave the Jedi temple?
- 51:45Speaker 1: And like everybody's laughing at him. Other masters are kind
- 51:49Speaker 1: of like whispering and everything else. And obi Wan makes
- 51:52Speaker 1: it a teachable moment, which I absolutely love. And then
- 51:56Speaker 1: it goes into the actual call that one had to make,
- 52:01Speaker 1: uh to make everybody leave and not go back to
- 52:05Speaker 1: the temple. Again, truly heartbreaking. You know, you talk about
- 52:13Speaker 1: the the small cast of characters, Skelly. We are introduced
- 52:23Speaker 1: to Canaan, his way of life, his job, all of
- 52:30Speaker 1: these different things. And Skelley right off the bat is
- 52:37Speaker 1: a character that really rubs you the wrong way unfortunately
- 52:45Speaker 1: throughout the entire book, but you understand why, Like he
- 52:51Speaker 1: has this persona that in a way is like like
- 52:58Speaker 1: very much like I'm sure you you guys have met
- 53:01Speaker 1: this individual. I wouldn't say in your everyday living, but
- 53:07Speaker 1: you've met him once or twice. It's the guy that
- 53:11Speaker 1: the conspiracy theorist that like just you know, a broken
- 53:16Speaker 1: clock is right twice a day, you know type thing.
- 53:20Speaker 1: And Skelly is definitely that person. I I really dug
- 53:31Speaker 1: the voice that they gave Canaan in this book, because
- 53:37Speaker 1: at first I was like, this isn't Canaan, Like what
- 53:40Speaker 1: the hell? You know, the whole like ladies man swave like,
- 53:46Speaker 1: but this is this is a Canaan that hasn't met
- 53:48Speaker 1: Hara yet, like you know. So that's that's the thing
- 53:52Speaker 1: that finally hit me when he finally does meet Haraah.
- 53:57Speaker 1: But how did you feel about like the meeting of Haarah,
- 54:04Speaker 1: their mission what it eventually got to like, how did
- 54:08Speaker 1: you feel about all that?
- 54:11Speaker 2: I really enjoyed the mystique that Haarah put up that
- 54:14Speaker 2: she was like it feels like.
- 54:18Speaker 3: This is very early in the stages of forming the rebellion,
- 54:26Speaker 3: and we obviously know that she's kind of young at
- 54:30Speaker 3: this point, but she's still very cautious.
- 54:33Speaker 2: She's not overly sharing information. She's trying to find things
- 54:39Speaker 2: we don't get like a whole lot of rebellion. Sorry, y'all,
- 54:44Speaker 2: I just live on alarms these days. We don't get
- 54:50Speaker 2: a whole lot of like rebellion set up in this book,
- 54:54Speaker 2: it definitely feels like, hey, we've been given this mission,
- 54:59Speaker 2: let's complete the mission, and like Season one Rebels style,
- 55:04Speaker 2: like you said, like a very long episode of Rebels
- 55:08Speaker 2: where there's just enough information to give you what you
- 55:13Speaker 2: need to know basically. So yeah, I really enjoyed Mistique
- 55:21Speaker 2: Hara put off and like that she didn't just fall
- 55:26Speaker 2: for Cannon immediately, like it had to build up, and
- 55:29Speaker 2: like she knew there was something intriguing about him, but
- 55:34Speaker 2: she didn't want to like throw it all at him immediately,
- 55:36Speaker 2: and like, oh, okay, he doesn't want to stick around,
- 55:39Speaker 2: but like I'd like to see what he could do
- 55:41Speaker 2: kind of thing, so like can I convince him to
- 55:44Speaker 2: stick around? Uh? So all that is just very good setup.
- 55:49Speaker 1: M It also speaks to like how Harrah can really
- 55:57Speaker 1: read people, and like even here, like this is the
- 56:01Speaker 1: supposedly our first meeting of Harah in canon technically, so
- 56:08Speaker 1: you read this and you don't have the motherly era
- 56:15Speaker 1: that we have in Rebels, but at the exact same time,
- 56:18Speaker 1: she still has that even this early on in canon,
- 56:22Speaker 1: she still is very much caring of others. Hey, this
- 56:27Speaker 1: is important to me, but like we also have to
- 56:31Speaker 1: look after these people, and these people we also meet
- 56:38Speaker 1: our antagonists, our villain very early on in this book
- 56:44Speaker 1: as well, with that being.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Count Vidon.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yes, Count Videon, I was gonna say, Captain Count Vidon
- 56:57Speaker 1: the Cyborg and you actually get to finally, like near
- 57:04Speaker 1: the end of the book, you get his backstory and
- 57:08Speaker 1: how he was a random nobody in the Empire that
- 57:14Speaker 1: you know, just was not getting the best reputation. He
- 57:22Speaker 1: wasn't getting Palpatine to really see him for anything. And
- 57:27Speaker 1: finally he's like, you know what, this accident is a
- 57:30Speaker 1: blessing in disguise. The old me is dead, the new
- 57:35Speaker 1: one's back. All of these rumors are circulating about me.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I'll let them fester and then I will roll with it,
- 57:42Speaker 1: which is absolutely insane. To think about in the sense
- 57:46Speaker 1: of how evil this guy really, like the energy he
- 57:53Speaker 1: puts off from like the very beginning of when we
- 57:56Speaker 1: meet him in this book. You know, so I dug
- 58:02Speaker 1: this character. He was very intense with like, oh, I
- 58:09Speaker 1: can see you with my infra red vision, I have
- 58:12Speaker 1: like acute hearing. I can dial into radios without even
- 58:17Speaker 1: like touching things, like like he he is a cyborg,
- 58:20Speaker 1: and it's very very intense in some cases. How did
- 58:25Speaker 1: you feel about about him as a character, as the
- 58:29Speaker 1: villain of the story, and how we inevitably get through
- 58:36Speaker 1: this hump as you know the Rebels.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I enjoyed getting an industrialist, imperial person that wasn't necessarily
- 58:50Speaker 2: like we must beat up everyone and anyone, even though
- 58:54Speaker 2: that is his personality. But he's got more brains behind
- 58:59Speaker 2: It is like he's very analytical when like the whole
- 59:06Speaker 2: point of this crisis conflict that takes place is that
- 59:10Speaker 2: the emperor is looking to increase mineral production so that
- 59:17Speaker 2: they can build more start destroyers, and the quotas are
- 59:21Speaker 2: out of control, and uh, they would never be able
- 59:24Speaker 2: to hit those numbers, so things build out of that.
- 59:31Speaker 2: So he's just very analytical. It is like best case,
- 59:35Speaker 2: worst case scenario, like, hey, like, what can we do here?
- 59:41Speaker 2: So his counterpart in the Imperial Navy at this point
- 59:47Speaker 2: is actually Captain Ray Sloan, who I believe was one
- 59:54Speaker 2: of the first well she's she's mentioned that her story
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: continues in the Aftermath trilogy, but I believe she's one
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: of the only female Grand admirals. But she's also a
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: black female, so very good character representation here. Uh So, yeah,
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: she doesn't. She plays a role, but she's not a
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: main character in this story. I would say, would you
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: agree with that?
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Yes and no, because she inevitably, well not inevitably, because
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: she kind of does a uh double cross double cross
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: uh with with Canaan. There's a moment where or several
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: moments that she is kind of like an intricate part
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: of like play moving forward in the sense of she
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: is the one that just in happenstance being in charge
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: of what she's being in charge of, you know, things
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: are starting to kind of fall down and dominoes around her,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: and she's just like, hold on, what's going on here,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Let's look at this, Let's look at that. And so, yeah,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: she isn't a main player, but she is definitely a
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: supporting pillar in this story. I believe now remind me
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: because I just looked at the Wikipedia for her page,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: and I immediately recognized the photo because wasn't there some
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: sort of speculation that there was an actress that looked
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: a lot like Ray s Loan's picture here in the Wikipedia.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: I want to say that we've actually shared it in
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: our Star Wars Alliance chat like somebody was like, hold
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: on a second, wasn't it Jodie Turner Smith that people
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: were like, hold on, like now, of course the timeline
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: just didn't match up or whatever. But because I I
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: could have sworn ah no, so uh rumor Angela Bassett
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: met Lucasfilm for a role in Star Wars, That's what
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: it was. And then people were saying, holy crap, could
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: she be a Racelan? Yeah, if Angela Bassett was going
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: to be Race Loan, I do hope. Shit, it is
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: a much bigger pillar, you know, of of a characterization
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: in whatever story they are trying to develop with that.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: But either way, I dug this the like we were
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: saying the uh count uh forgot his name again? Uh
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: videan videan. I I also like how at one point.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Very early in the book. Uh, he encounters Kanaan and
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: Canaan's not taking any of his ship like he He's like, hey,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: you can't do that. He's, of course the you know,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: lighthearted Jedi, you know he that's who he is. He
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: is somebody who's going to stick up for others, and
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Videan just is like, you know, you were too small
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: for me whatever, Like you were nothing to me. Uh.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: And it even calls back near the end of the
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: book when they finally meet again. He's like, oh, you
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: were so insignificant that I deleted your five from my
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: memory banks. But I never forget a face. And I
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: was like, okay, Like apparently he was significant enough, you
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: know that you remember who he is. But I dug
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: him as the stone cold because one one other thing
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: with with Sloan was when Canaan eventually got to talk
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to her and was like, Hey, this is what's gonna happen,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: which again I it is the it is the one
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: constant in Star Wars. It's like, hey, what is the
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Empire doing. Oh, They're gonna blow up a massive piece
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: of space and that's the entire plot to this is
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: like heyn going to explode.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Well, keep in mind, that's what Legends did a lot
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: weapons of mass destruction for a big thing. So it's
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Miler's going off buddy notes, but.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: It's it's such a mustache twirling plot device, you know,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: it really is. But you know, Canaan finds this out,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: talks to Sloan, and Sloan actually confronts Vivian about it.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: At one point. She's like, hey, they said that you
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: were gonna do this, and he like plays it off.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: He's like, oh, really that's what they said, Like I'm
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: some sort of espionage you know, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: And she's like, yeah, like could could you believe it
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: like that? Like why would they ever say that? And
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: it's just again that he was the perfect mustache twirling
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: villain for this story. And I actually really really dug it.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: A surprising character that I didn't think I was gonna
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: like that much because of the way they depicted her
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: very early on in the book was uh Ziluna. Zoluna
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: is a character that has worked at her job for
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I actually don't know how old Zeluna is in the
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: universe here.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: I don't know how old she is either, but she'd
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: worked at the job for thirty years.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Yeah, she she worked there for a very long time.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: And she has referenced many many times in this book
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: of like oh yeah, back in my day, and like
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: how she talks about how like she's met Jedi before
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: and uh, she's done this and this and this before
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: Canaan was even born and like all of these other things.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: But she is the type of person that is fully
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: dedicated to her job. And the whole entire reason and
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: why she's caught up into this story is because one
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: of her employees co workers, was actually a informant for Hararah.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: And when they get questioned by stormtroopers and let go
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: and fired, Zeluna is the one that falls upon this
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: information and decides to follow the breadcrumbs to Harah. And
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you know, this is when she starts to we see
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: the converting from someone who and I wouldn't even say converting.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Converting is such like a weird term for this, because she,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: like I said, it, is just committed to her job,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: not necessarily an individual that is like I am for
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: the Empire, Long Live the Empire type of person. You know,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: she talks about how she loves her job the entire
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: pace book or whatever, but she questions the things that
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: have happened. She is by the book on a lot
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: of these different things, and when she finally realizes, hey,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: like things are bad, it's a little too late because
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: she finds out, Oh, the Empire was at our office.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: They've noticed that I've been gone for a couple of days.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: They're gonna know that my last meeting you guys, I'm
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: done for So I guess I'm part of the rebellion now.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: And I really dug her story, Like it was a
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: little silly that she got stuck in like a room
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: closet basically inside of the ship and they just couldn't
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: hear her for like three days, which is insane. But Yeah,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: really really loved Zuluna. I think she is the underdog
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: character in this yeah.
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: Because she just seems to know kind of everything means
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: to happen, which obviously you all have to like have
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: that character involved, like the one he can like go,
- 1:09:04Speaker 4: oh no, this is exactly what we need to do.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: So yeah, she was great. I loved her. And to
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: get another Slason, I feel like they're really rare characters
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: and Star Wars, so it was nice.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Yeah, can you hear that? By the way,
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: very very little is it's not gonna be that big
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: of a deal.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: I didn't want to make sure. I wanted to make
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: sure it wasn't bad.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's it's not blaring in my ears at all.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: So we'll be fine. Okay, But are there any like
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: big points that you want to bring up from the story.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: So what did you think about Canaan struggling with his
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: identity as a Jedi in this case and the fact
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: that he's kept his lightsaber this whole time.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, my big thing is we don't get the
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: lightsaber into like the last three chapters of the book,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: like it is not a part of this story whatsoever,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: and it's like forty something chapters. I thought that this
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: was a very interesting point. He from time to time,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: he'll remember some things that his old master taught him, Right,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: He'll he'll uh what was her name, uh a Diepa
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: b Lava would kind of come up in his brain
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: of like, oh, you shouldn't do this, or you should
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: do this, or you know, just some master equips would
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: come into his mind sometimes throughout the book. But his
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: struggle here was not really a struggle because like I said,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Canaan at his core is still an individual that has
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: the quote unquote morality of that of what a Jedi
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: should be. Of course, we are learning a lot different thing,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: but the Canaan that we know and love, he has
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: always been that person to the core. Yeah, he might
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: have that like rough cowboy like, oh, I'm gonna beat
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: your ass, because he says that to freaking Scully like
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: six times in this book. Yeah, Scull, like Scully hit
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: is so rockhead, like freaking hard headed and doesn't want
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: to do this or doesn't want to do that, and
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: you know, yeah, Canaan is the six foot whatever. And
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I always see like while I was reading, I always
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: felt like Skelly was like this very short, like probably
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: somebody that Canaan could probably pick up by the best
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: and like hang him like with his feet dangling. Is
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: the type of character that I think Skelly is. Uh So,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: like I could visually see him getting like kind of
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: rough with him, and I'm like, yeah, this is this
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: is his emotions. This is the character that Canaan has
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: allowed him to be because there isn't a Jedi temple
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: an academy, uh and and he doesn't have a master
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: to kind of scold him. He is his own individual person.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: We've in this book, we learned that, you know, he's
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: had some lovers before that he's you know, he's been
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: the drunkard. He's gone through life without you know, being
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: a part of this cult religion that he was a
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: part of. And is it for the best of them?
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: You know? We see that now in rebels like yeah,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: like him growing a heart and having feelings and all
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: of this is the better is better for him? But
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I dug this because again this will also like the
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: idea of like I gotta, you know, stay away from
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: the empire and if anybody gets too close, then like, hey,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: I'm out, because that was the hole. Like the beginning
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: of the story is like, hey, I got into deep
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I accidentally used the force. I think nobody saw me,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: but I'll go ahead and leave just in case, and
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I won't show up here anymore. And then he stumbles
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: onto everything else. So like I dig that he still
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: wants to be careful. He still was like, hey, my
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: life is on the line. Like we can only imagine
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: what his life was like for the first two years
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: of running and hiding, right, So like seeing him now
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: doing the exact same thing. Excuse me, I still dig
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: that about it. You see the growth in his character
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: from not wanting to be in this limelight or in
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: the spotlight to openly going to Hara and being like, Hey,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: are we going to be this team? Are we going
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: to go out and you know, save the galaxy or whatever?
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Because that was a line in this book as well.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: He was like, Hey, I'm not this kind of person.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go you know, put my neck out
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: for these people. And then Hara turned around and said,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: but you just did. Yep, So I dug the growth
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: of Canaan in this book.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it was good to see him kind of grow up,
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: like you said, and just build the confidence to be like, Okay,
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: here's got something more going on here. M I need
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: to be in but I also want to build this
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: relationship with her. So yeah, really really enjoy this book.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if there is a whole lot
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: else to jump on. Of course, when we talk about
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: these reviews, we want to highlight some of the key
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: points that we enjoyed in the book, but overall, we
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: want you guys to go out there read these books
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: enjoy them yourselves. So even though this book is what
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: almost ten years old now, yeah, I looking back at
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: the public. Yeah, it was published. Release date was twenty
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: fourteen in September, so literally almost ten years old in
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: two months, so or a month and a half. So
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: there you go. Yeah, very very fun. I will probably
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: we ended up looking for this to actually have in
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: my collection because I enjoyed it that much listening to
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: an actual audiobook of it. But yeah, very very fun book.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: And also listening to the forward by Day Coloney was
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: really really fun as well, you know, getting the idea
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: of like, hey, uh, I enjoyed Star Wars when I
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: was a young kid, and now I get to create
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: this stuff and all of that was a really fun
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: thing to listen to as well.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: But yeah, all right, well Clay, where can they find you?
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, of course you can always find me at Fanboy,

- 1:17:02Speaker 1: other things like that. Katie and I have gotten together
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: to really map out what the next hopeful year is about.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: We had a little bit of a hiccup for this
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: month because of some others that came out, so we
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: had to switch some things around. But we are gonna
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: be pushing a lot more content and so it's it's
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: gonna be a very fun rest of the year, So

- 1:17:48Speaker 1: of fun talk to the guys about that. But also
