- 1:24Speaker 1: just a bit in our conversation a special for meet
- 1:27Speaker 1: the crack in well, going back to Montreal at Bell
- 1:30Speaker 1: Center on Tuesday night. The Kraken knew what they were
- 1:33Speaker 1: up against, a daunting and challenging environment in Montreal, soome opener,
- 1:38Speaker 1: where the Canadians had won four of their last five
- 1:40Speaker 1: home openers as well. And here's how it unfolded, including
- 1:44Speaker 1: a wild ride of the third period and overtime.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's done at the line, resetting over to tollmen out
- 1:51Speaker 2: to done.
- 1:52Speaker 3: It's don left circle download Shane.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Right back door tap in. Jaded Schwartz scores play goal
- 2:00Speaker 2: for Jaden Schwartz. Great puck movement by Seattle Shane Wright
- 2:06Speaker 2: through the low slots to Schwartz and the Kraken tie
- 2:09Speaker 2: the game at one, sixteen to twenty seven left here
- 2:12Speaker 2: in the second.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Quick movement around the outside, starting with toven it over
- 2:16Speaker 4: to done up top. He slides it down.
- 2:18Speaker 3: To right right, just does not waste any time.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Put it in across the top of the blue Painter
- 2:23Speaker 4: Schwartz easy tap in.
- 2:24Speaker 5: This game's tied at one.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Throw hands it off to Cartier. Ty Cartier right circle, turn,
- 2:30Speaker 2: shoot to flexen. They score. Yonny Newman right plays at
- 2:35Speaker 2: the right time. It goes off his skate and into
- 2:39Speaker 2: the back of the net. Seattle Well tie the gave
- 2:43Speaker 2: at two to eight to play.
- 2:46Speaker 4: In the second well Ty Krtchie picking up that puck
- 2:49Speaker 4: coming around the side of the net. He's on his
- 2:50Speaker 4: off wing, so that sticks to the middle of the ice.
- 2:52Speaker 4: He's got a good shot. He puts a hard one
- 2:54Speaker 4: on net low, looking for that far corner, and it
- 2:57Speaker 4: goes off of Newman, who was hanging out in front
- 2:59Speaker 4: of the net waiting for a rebound.
- 3:01Speaker 2: He's gonna get the goal, bouncing pluck far circle. Josh
- 3:04Speaker 2: Bhuru picks it up and shoots from the high slot.
- 3:07Speaker 3: That'll miss. Why Alexiak walks in high slot, scors.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Shamie alexiac rips one toward the net through traffic. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't think bontime Bo ever saw it, and the Seattle
- 3:21Speaker 2: Krackt retie the game three three fifteen twelve to play.
- 3:25Speaker 4: In the third, that was a McCann feed up to
- 3:27Speaker 4: Alexiak two from the half wall, and Alexiak took his
- 3:30Speaker 4: time moving from his right to his left side. He's
- 3:33Speaker 4: left handed shot. When he shot back across the green
- 3:36Speaker 4: to Montebo's glove side, this game's knotted up again.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Three happened in Veneers winning it back for Seattle is
- 3:44Speaker 2: Montour right point shot block McCann scors Sharon McCann goals
- 3:51Speaker 2: in three straight and the Seattle Crackt come all the
- 3:55Speaker 2: way back to take a four to three lead twelve
- 3:58Speaker 2: oh four to play.
- 3:59Speaker 4: In the th a puck goes DDD up with the
- 4:01Speaker 4: blue line over to Montour, who gets a good quick
- 4:04Speaker 4: shot off.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Montreal makes the block out and put the puck drops right.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Down to Jared McCann, who spins around puts the glove
- 4:10Speaker 4: side on Sam Montebau three excuse me, four to three
- 4:14Speaker 4: Seattle Mason Marshpitt standing in the box, lie a left circle,
- 4:19Speaker 4: dob in the slot back.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Hand scores.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I Dobb his second point of nights, first goal of
- 4:34Speaker 2: the season that Montreal ties the head late.
- 4:38Speaker 3: What's it?
- 4:39Speaker 2: Picks up the puck right wing circle one thirty five
- 4:43Speaker 2: left it over time.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Here's Cawfield shot stores What a move by.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Cold Coffield run the circle showing the court to me.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Ever so slightly goes I'm stairs had the cracket came
- 5:02Speaker 2: a point in overtime?
- 5:06Speaker 6: Evera fits you al Koniski had the call in Montreal,
- 5:09Speaker 6: so the crack in quest for a three and oh
- 5:11Speaker 6: Stark comes to a heartbreaking end. They led for to three,
- 5:14Speaker 6: but gave up a late game tying goal to Ivan
- 5:17Speaker 6: Demidov and then gold Coffee Old capped off as second
- 5:21Speaker 6: of two goals on the night, slipping a tough angled
- 5:23Speaker 6: shot over the shoulder of Joey Decord and the Kraken,
- 5:26Speaker 6: settling for an overtime point and a five to four
- 5:29Speaker 6: overtime loss to Montreal. After the game, head coach Lane
- 5:33Speaker 6: Lambert shared his reactions with the media, with plenty to
- 5:37Speaker 6: improve on heading into Ottawa for game two of the trip,
- 5:42Speaker 6: but not so much.
- 5:43Speaker 7: Execution yeah, well, for the most part, Yeah, there we
- 5:49Speaker 7: what happened tonight, the effort was outstanding. I thought we
- 5:53Speaker 7: did a lot of good things. There's a lot of
- 5:55Speaker 7: positives from that game. We made some mistake and those
- 6:01Speaker 7: mistakes ended up in the back of our net tonight,
- 6:04Speaker 7: whereas maybe in games one and two they they didn't
- 6:08Speaker 7: and structural, systematic mistakes that we have no business making
- 6:15Speaker 7: those mistakes. You can't do that and win hockey games consistently.
- 6:21Speaker 7: So you know, again, we'll learn from it, and we'll
- 6:26Speaker 7: build off the positives and we've got to be we
- 6:28Speaker 7: gotta be better in a in a couple of different
- 6:31Speaker 7: areas here on Thursday.
- 6:34Speaker 5: In over time, obviously two games in overtime in a row.
- 6:36Speaker 5: You have rolled out most of your lineup. What kind
- 6:39Speaker 5: of goes into those decisions that you make when it comes.
- 6:41Speaker 7: To who you want to play in one Well, I
- 6:43Speaker 7: think that I wouldn't say I've rolled out most of
- 6:46Speaker 7: my lineup. I say i've you know, I've used six
- 6:48Speaker 7: or seven forwards, which is about half the lineup, you know.
- 6:53Speaker 7: So there's certain guys that we feel jell well together,
- 6:59Speaker 7: you know, And it's unfortunate because you know, when the
- 7:02Speaker 7: guy went into to our goaltender. We had a two
- 7:05Speaker 7: on one going back the other way, so could have
- 7:08Speaker 7: been a bit of a different story. But uh, you know,
- 7:10Speaker 7: we'll again, we'll build from the positives of the game
- 7:13Speaker 7: and and move forward.
- 7:15Speaker 4: So after the initial surge by much job there, there
- 7:17Speaker 4: was about sixteen minute span where you.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Elimited them to one shot on man, I think it
- 7:22Speaker 2: wasn't you got the time.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Goal by Jane What what w What were you guys
- 7:25Speaker 3: doing right at that year?
- 7:27Speaker 4: Then?
- 7:27Speaker 5: Oh, we just played.
- 7:28Speaker 7: We were playing hard, and we were playing hard right
- 7:30Speaker 7: from the get go. You know, if you look at
- 7:33Speaker 7: the chances in the game, we out chanced 'em five
- 7:36Speaker 7: on five. So uh, I thought we did a great
- 7:39Speaker 7: job of coming prepared, understanding what we needed to do
- 7:43Speaker 7: in the first you know, certainly in the first ten
- 7:45Speaker 7: minutes when they come out hard in their building, and
- 7:48Speaker 7: you know, I thought we I thought we battled. I
- 7:50Speaker 7: I'll give our guys full credit for battling.
- 7:53Speaker 5: How would you assess the work of the fourth line?
- 7:56Speaker 7: Oh, I thought they were pretty good. Uh, you know,
- 7:58Speaker 7: big goal by uh by Nieman, and I thought Karcha
- 8:03Speaker 7: was good. Again, I thought Freddy was good again you
- 8:06Speaker 7: know they're trustworthy team or a trustworthy.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Line, so the Crack and reminded of we're to be
- 8:11Speaker 6: done despite getting once again contributions from Jared McCann and company,
- 8:16Speaker 6: and McCann coming into this game as the hottest of
- 8:19Speaker 6: the Krack and writing a three game goal scoring streak
- 8:22Speaker 6: and off to a terrific start where he's looking to
- 8:24Speaker 6: get back into thirty to forty goal plus form his
- 8:27Speaker 6: peak a forty goal campaign of course, set back in
- 8:30Speaker 6: twenty twenty two and twenty three, Al McCann took his
- 8:33Speaker 6: off season to get ready here for this one. We
- 8:36Speaker 6: spoke more with them plus behind the mind of the
- 8:39Speaker 6: veteran forward here and also McCann's recount of some hygiens
- 8:43Speaker 6: to of course elevate team camaraderie from his previous stops
- 8:47Speaker 6: in the NHL. In this conversation with McCann for our
- 8:50Speaker 6: latest Meet the krackett.
- 8:52Speaker 8: How often do you think back when you were drafted
- 8:54Speaker 8: on the stage in Philadelphia and think of how much
- 8:57Speaker 8: life pass changed and how much that you have grown.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it's it's been a crazy ride.
- 9:01Speaker 9: Obviously, I'm very thankful for for every opportunity I've been
- 9:05Speaker 9: given this league, and you know, I know that it's
- 9:08Speaker 9: it's not easy league to stay in, so I guess
- 9:10Speaker 9: so I'm very thankful.
- 9:12Speaker 8: What would you have told someone back in the day
- 9:15Speaker 8: if they could look into your future and say, do
- 9:17Speaker 8: you feel like some one hundred games?
- 9:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like.
- 9:22Speaker 9: You know, I was a very ambitious kid, and you know,
- 9:24Speaker 9: I always, you know, thought I could do things even
- 9:27Speaker 9: when other people thought I couldn't. So you know, it
- 9:29Speaker 9: was always in my mind that I could do this,
- 9:31Speaker 9: and I just tried to stick to that through four years.
- 9:34Speaker 8: What's the best part about living in Seattle away from
- 9:37Speaker 8: the rink?
- 9:38Speaker 9: Oh, I would say the food, the different restaurants, all types,
- 9:42Speaker 9: not just seafood Italian. It's one thing my wife and
- 9:46Speaker 9: I would try to find a new restaurant, you know,
- 9:48Speaker 9: once a week or something new to try, so.
- 9:50Speaker 8: Without giving it away. Then as far as your hotspot,
- 9:52Speaker 8: what's your favorite kind of dish?
- 9:54Speaker 9: I'm still a big sushi guy. It's okay get away
- 9:55Speaker 9: from sushi. So there's one downtown that both my wife
- 9:58Speaker 9: and I love.
- 9:59Speaker 8: That's the easiest I think about, you know, going around
- 10:01Speaker 8: on the road when you get out with the guys.
- 10:03Speaker 8: A lot of them are into sushi and there's plenty
- 10:05Speaker 8: of options out there.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Correct, definitely, definitely.
- 10:07Speaker 9: Yeah, each city go to there's usually some some pretty
- 10:09Speaker 9: good spots, and you know, the farther inland you go,
- 10:13Speaker 9: I think it goes it goes a little bit more
- 10:15Speaker 9: Italian and steakhouse wise, but yeah, that's all pretty good.
- 10:19Speaker 8: So then being outside of Major Junior, what's the best
- 10:21Speaker 8: meal that you can cook?
- 10:22Speaker 9: Now, outside of Major Junior, best me I can cook?
- 10:25Speaker 9: I'm just a meat and potatoes guy. I like steak,
- 10:28Speaker 9: sweet potato.
- 10:29Speaker 5: And just you know as nice caesar salad or something.
- 10:31Speaker 8: Who's the one teammate that you would trust to cook
- 10:33Speaker 8: a meal for yourself at your house?
- 10:35Speaker 5: As has been pretty doubling with the Smoker. You know,
- 10:38Speaker 5: he talks about it.
- 10:40Speaker 9: I really I haven't really been invited over yet for
- 10:43Speaker 9: a meal, but you know, it's uh, he talks about
- 10:45Speaker 9: it a lot, so I think he's got it down.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Pad.
- 10:47Speaker 8: Team bonding is important, and we've had this conversation before
- 10:50Speaker 8: where you know, players have kind of gotten away from
- 10:53Speaker 8: this culture in the recent years, But what's the craziest
- 10:55Speaker 8: prank that you ever saw hold on a teammate?
- 10:57Speaker 5: Craziest prank.
- 10:59Speaker 9: Where was I don't know where I was, but I
- 11:03Speaker 9: we were on the plane and it's one of the
- 11:06Speaker 9: guys put a bunch of those colors Marty's on. One
- 11:09Speaker 9: of the only guys in our team who was wearing
- 11:11Speaker 9: a white suit. He was wearing like a lace and
- 11:12Speaker 9: nice white linen suit. And it was still summertime, so
- 11:15Speaker 9: I think I was in Florida. But he stood up
- 11:17Speaker 9: and he had the rainbow over his blood.
- 11:20Speaker 8: Oh that sounds like an expensive replace. Was definitely almost
- 11:23Speaker 8: kind of like the Mento said where the guy sits
- 11:25Speaker 8: down in the black suit and gets the white stripe
- 11:27Speaker 8: on there, so he just rolls around on the whole
- 11:28Speaker 8: thing to make a pinstripe all.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Of a sudden.
- 11:30Speaker 8: Exactly, what's the first teammate that you would think of
- 11:33Speaker 8: that comes to mind for elite suit game?
- 11:36Speaker 9: Elite suit game, I would say, I would say Wenny Weinberg,
- 11:40Speaker 9: Alex Wemburg.
- 11:41Speaker 8: He going back in the day for it.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 9: He always came very very sharp dressed, and you know,
- 11:46Speaker 9: it wasn't wasn't too crazy, but he just always looked good.
- 11:49Speaker 8: I want to go back here to last season, the
- 11:50Speaker 8: goal numbers took a bit of a slide back. The production,
- 11:53Speaker 8: though was still there. Where did that leave you with
- 11:56Speaker 8: how you understand your game being a playmaker versus being
- 11:59Speaker 8: a thing? Sure?
- 12:00Speaker 9: Yeah, you know I feel like I do both. You know,
- 12:03Speaker 9: I feel like I kind of proved that last year.
- 12:04Speaker 9: It's you know, I'm gonna have times where I'm going
- 12:07Speaker 9: to go through a dry spell of games where not
- 12:09Speaker 9: gonna get many chances or knowing the buck's not gonna
- 12:11Speaker 9: go in that for me, so I got to kind
- 12:13Speaker 9: of figure out how to how I can contribute in
- 12:15Speaker 9: other ways. And you know, I was trying to set
- 12:17Speaker 9: guys up as much as I could last year. And
- 12:20Speaker 9: but uh, you know, I do feel like I can
- 12:22Speaker 9: get back to that that forty goal season.
- 12:24Speaker 8: I loved reading at how much you felt that you
- 12:26Speaker 8: evolved as a leader throughout this whole process. It's not
- 12:29Speaker 8: maybe like you're trying to copy your heroes. Maybe you've
- 12:31Speaker 8: got to be yourself. But who do you remember watching
- 12:34Speaker 8: growing up and understand that's what being a leader is
- 12:38Speaker 8: all about?
- 12:38Speaker 9: Oh? Well, I mean I got to play with some
- 12:41Speaker 9: pretty amazing leaders in this league. But I would say
- 12:45Speaker 9: watching guys like you know, Stevie Why and you know,
- 12:48Speaker 9: I just feel like he was kind of the to
- 12:50Speaker 9: me of the leader and you know, guy led by
- 12:51Speaker 9: example and was there for his teammates and you know,
- 12:55Speaker 9: that's the kind of That's the kind of leader I
- 12:56Speaker 9: want to be, and you know, try to do that every.
- 12:58Speaker 8: Year you're a le of your career is here? Crazy
- 13:02Speaker 8: how time flies? But what games do you think of
- 13:05Speaker 8: that make you the most proud of with how you
- 13:07Speaker 8: paid a contribution?
- 13:08Speaker 9: I would say playoffs? Just maybe that first game in
- 13:12Speaker 9: the playoffs in our building and how electric it was.
- 13:15Speaker 9: It's pretty amazing.
- 13:16Speaker 8: When you think of that atmosphere. How much is that
- 13:18Speaker 8: a driving factor with what you and this team want
- 13:20Speaker 8: to do and getting back there?
- 13:21Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, we will obviously want to that's the that's
- 13:24Speaker 9: the goal is to get back to the playoffs and
- 13:25Speaker 9: knows we.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Want to Stanley Cup.
- 13:26Speaker 9: And you know obviously we uh, we haven't been to
- 13:30Speaker 9: that point obviously the last couple of years here. We
- 13:32Speaker 9: we know we we got to change and we had
- 13:35Speaker 9: to be dialed in every single game.
- 13:38Speaker 5: It's it's how it's gonna be year five?
- 13:40Speaker 8: Wherein these teams color, this team's colors, You play in
- 13:43Speaker 8: a great place, what's the loudest you've ever heard this
- 13:46Speaker 8: place that you can't wait to hear again.
- 13:48Speaker 9: Oh yeah, I would say again. You know, playoffs, first
- 13:52Speaker 9: first game of the Playoffs, it was it was electric
- 13:54Speaker 9: and you know the fans brought the noise for sure.
- 13:57Speaker 8: When you think about it here as far as so
- 13:58Speaker 8: much time has flown by the first time you got
- 14:01Speaker 8: an NHL paycheck, what'd you buy with it?
- 14:04Speaker 9: I bought a Ford F one fifty with black Rock
- 14:08Speaker 9: Star rims with the chromed out you know, star in
- 14:12Speaker 9: the middle, and it had a roach kit on it,
- 14:15Speaker 9: which was it was pretty loud.
- 14:16Speaker 5: And I was in a neighborhood.
- 14:17Speaker 9: I was still living with my parents at the time too,
- 14:19Speaker 9: So every time I started the truck to go in
- 14:21Speaker 9: the gym in the morning, I will pretty much the
- 14:23Speaker 9: entire neighborhood up.
- 14:24Speaker 8: So how many times did folks?
- 14:25Speaker 6: As Jared McCann joining us, can he makes this a
- 14:27Speaker 6: run of four consecutive games with a goal out of
- 14:31Speaker 6: the gate, the Cracking are gonna aim for that plus
- 14:33Speaker 6: production to get back out of the winning end when
- 14:36Speaker 6: they take on Ottawa for the first of two matchups.
- 14:39Speaker 6: It is the only time the Kraken will visit Ottawa
- 14:41Speaker 6: for the entire season. Next time, Matt won't even be
- 14:45Speaker 6: until the weather gets warm once again. March seventh is
- 14:48Speaker 6: that second game between the two, coming up back in
- 14:51Speaker 6: Seattle at Climbing Pledge Arena. The Cracking right now nursing
- 14:55Speaker 6: a few injury issues of their own as a refresher
- 14:58Speaker 6: copp Old Cocko and Ryker Evans on injured reserve. But
- 15:02Speaker 6: one that said Ottawa hard is left winger Brady could Chuck,
- 15:05Speaker 6: arguably one of the great power forwards of this game,
- 15:08Speaker 6: but Ottawa is going to miss him for four weeks.
- 15:11Speaker 6: He injured his right hand against Nashville on Monday, so
- 15:15Speaker 6: a pretty significant loss for Ottawa up front as far
- 15:18Speaker 6: as a player who can elevate their game from a
- 15:20Speaker 6: physical standpoint and definitely an offensive standpoint. The Krack and
- 15:24Speaker 6: Theyough have found Ottawa a tough place to play in
- 15:27Speaker 6: their last two meetings. They've lost both games and have
- 15:30Speaker 6: gone without a goal, outscored five nothing. So the Krack
- 15:34Speaker 6: and looking for their first source of offense in three
- 15:37Speaker 6: games in Ottawa. Their last win there, they certainly made
- 15:41Speaker 6: a count and then some, winning eight to four back
- 15:44Speaker 6: on the seventh of January of twenty twenty three. In
- 15:47Speaker 6: that game, the crack and got three point games each
- 15:50Speaker 6: from Jordan Everly and Andre Barakowski. So after this, the
- 15:54Speaker 6: Kraken turned their attention to Toronto, Philadelphia, Washington and Winnipeg.
- 15:59Speaker 6: It doesn't get any easier, but the Kraken play neck
- 16:02Speaker 6: and neck with Montreal and they're looking to keep their
- 16:05Speaker 6: unbeaten run in regulation going tonight against the Ottawa Senators.
- 16:09Speaker 6: We'll have all the action for you once again, starting
