- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to Star Wars Alliance. Before we get
- 0:23Speaker 2: started with our indoor season two review, I want to
- 0:27Speaker 2: go ahead and open us up with a viewer's discretion
- 0:31Speaker 2: and of course, listeners discretion if you're listening to this
- 0:35Speaker 2: the next day, Disney did not give a warning whatsoever
- 0:41Speaker 2: on uh, these three episodes, and so I wanted to
- 0:45Speaker 2: give that warning to everybody this this episode of the podcast,
- 0:51Speaker 2: on this review, we'll be touching on the subject of rape,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and with that, I felt that needed a warning. So
- 1:04Speaker 2: let's proceed. Like we said before jumping onto these indoor
- 1:09Speaker 2: season two episodes, We're not gonna be talking about news.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We're gonna be strictly talking about and or because it's
- 1:16Speaker 2: three episodes every single week. Uh, and Katie and I
- 1:20Speaker 2: just discussed it. We're not gonna go episode by episode,
- 1:23Speaker 2: beat by beat. We're gonna talk about character arcs, important
- 1:28Speaker 2: points of like you know, just important points through these
- 1:33Speaker 2: episodes and how the story is going.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because guys, these episodes really truly are basically a movie.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Like Clay and I both watched episode one Tuesday night,
- 1:46Speaker 3: and obviously we're in different states, so didn't really watch together.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But like when I was watching with Matt, the first
- 1:54Speaker 3: episode ended and I was like, crap, this really does
- 1:57Speaker 3: feel like a movie, like they're really is no good
- 2:02Speaker 3: stopping point here. I would say, like everything follows one
- 2:08Speaker 3: after another. There is no cliffhanger. This is all taking
- 2:11Speaker 3: place over three days in this arc. So basically each
- 2:16Speaker 3: episode is a day and it's all taking place for
- 2:20Speaker 3: bby just to kind of give you guys where we
- 2:24Speaker 3: are in the timeline. But these are key stories that
- 2:27Speaker 3: move our rebellion forward, and so it doesn't feel right
- 2:33Speaker 3: to go episode by episode because that can also get
- 2:35Speaker 3: confusing to some people. I know what it does to
- 2:38Speaker 3: me when I listen to other people's reviews and there's
- 2:40Speaker 3: multiple stories going on. Like I tried listening to gay
- 2:44Speaker 3: my Thrones reviews and as they were jumping around characters
- 2:48Speaker 3: and stuff, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
- 2:50Speaker 3: So I would rather go, Hey, this is Cassian's story,
- 2:53Speaker 3: Hey this is mon Mathmaus story, and just go from there.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Yeah. So with that, I think it might be important
- 3:05Speaker 2: to talk to Cassian about Cassian's character first, because that's
- 3:10Speaker 2: literally the character that we open up with when the
- 3:16Speaker 2: very first comment that I have in my notes. I
- 3:19Speaker 2: just want to say the vast difference, the vast contrast
- 3:25Speaker 2: of Cassian in episode one of season one, an episode now,
- 3:33Speaker 2: episode one now in season two, there is this boat
- 3:38Speaker 2: of confidence, this this kind of persona of leadership with
- 3:46Speaker 2: him as well talking to the person that was at.
- 3:49Speaker 3: The it's the sign base. It's a testing facility where
- 3:58Speaker 3: they seem to be developing new tie fighters. So we
- 4:01Speaker 3: don't get a designation for this tie fighter. It's just
- 4:04Speaker 3: a tie fighter. It doesn't look like a defender from Rebels.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It is actually I did I actually know what this
- 4:12Speaker 2: is all because it's an easter egg. This actually came
- 4:17Speaker 2: from a nineteen ninety four computer game called I believe
- 4:23Speaker 2: it was called Tie Fighter. This was it was called
- 4:28Speaker 2: a Tie Fighter computer game from LucasArts. This is a
- 4:34Speaker 2: tie Avenger.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Oh okay, I do remember some people talking about it
- 4:39Speaker 3: being an avenger when the trailers came out.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 4:42Speaker 3: The next two weeks for me are super chaotic because
- 4:44Speaker 3: I had my nephew's birthday party today hence the funky
- 4:47Speaker 3: layout behind me, and then I have Mar's birthday next week,
- 4:52Speaker 3: so I will be on top of my game for
- 4:54Speaker 3: the last two weeks. But I was like, oh, yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna watch these episodes twice, like I'm giving myself
- 5:03Speaker 3: time with a Saturday recording. Nah, didn't get any of
- 5:06Speaker 3: that done.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I got him once, So yeah, I think we will
- 5:13Speaker 2: give you a pass on this. There's I know, children's
- 5:16Speaker 2: parties are chaotic, and it was a.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Pool party, hence the bank. My mom was like, aren't
- 5:24Speaker 3: you going to do your banks? And I was like,
- 5:25Speaker 3: why would I do my bangs like I'm getting in
- 5:28Speaker 3: the pool later?
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, it's it's It's totally fine. But yeah, I
- 5:35Speaker 2: love the vast contrast between what and Or, who and
- 5:39Speaker 2: Or was, and who he is now. With that, his story,
- 5:48Speaker 2: his mark for these three episodes don't really go anywhere,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and I think that's okay because I think it's going
- 5:57Speaker 2: to go leaves and bounds throughout the rest of the season.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So he steals the tie Avenger right and the planet
- 6:06Speaker 3: that he ends up on.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Did you catch what planet he's on? I, well, you
- 6:12Speaker 4: no one should know what it is until literally the
- 6:14Speaker 4: last second of him leaving the planet.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I literally looked at those temples and was like, oh,
- 6:19Speaker 3: he's on Yavin four.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I like it. Like when it actually happened, I was like,
- 6:27Speaker 2: wait a second, Like I had to do like a
- 6:29Speaker 2: little bit of a double take, which is pretty wild because,
- 6:32Speaker 2: of course, as everybody knows, or as everybody should know,
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yavin four is the home base of the rebellion moving
- 6:40Speaker 2: forward after this part of the timeline, right.
- 6:44Speaker 4: And after a new for a new hope, after a
- 6:48Speaker 4: new hope, yes, yes, yes.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Now. The thing that was pretty wild to me in
- 6:53Speaker 2: thinking about that though, is during this weird little kerfu
- 7:00Speaker 2: with these rebels that like are also like just very
- 7:08Speaker 2: horrible like scoundrels and pirates, like they they clearly are
- 7:18Speaker 2: who Cassian was in season one, well with no with
- 7:22Speaker 2: with no direction.
- 7:24Speaker 3: That's well, they're also what the rebels ghost crew is
- 7:28Speaker 3: in season one in season two because remember Harris says,
- 7:33Speaker 3: oh yeah, every cell on every planet is segregated, so
- 7:37Speaker 3: that if you get cut, you can't report who you
- 7:41Speaker 3: report to other than me, because I'm on your planet,
- 7:45Speaker 3: like you know nothing. And that was the whole point here.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And I think in this case we saw the downfall
- 7:52Speaker 3: and Maya Pay, the leader of this rebel group supposedly
- 7:57Speaker 3: was actually referenced in season one and or by Saw
- 8:01Speaker 3: when he's talking about like, oh, this person is a separatist,
- 8:05Speaker 3: this person is a republican, Like so he maya pay
- 8:10Speaker 3: has been referenced. And we see the downfall of having
- 8:14Speaker 3: the segregated rebellions because Cassian shows up on the planet
- 8:19Speaker 3: to hand over the tie Apinger and he doesn't get
- 8:23Speaker 3: anywhere because he's dressed as an imperial and they don't
- 8:27Speaker 3: believe that he actually stole this tie fighter to get
- 8:31Speaker 3: to the rebellion, and instead they're just like, yeah, you're
- 8:35Speaker 3: stuck here kind of thing.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And then and then their own group is basically pulled
- 8:41Speaker 2: apart due to the fact they've been stranded there for days.
- 8:45Speaker 2: They have run close to nothing on food, they have
- 8:50Speaker 2: no water, like all of these different things, right, and
- 8:53Speaker 2: so it of course is going to make tensions very high.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But to back to my point in the sense of like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: how did like connecting this to of course the rebel
- 9:07Speaker 2: base after like you said, a new hope near the
- 9:10Speaker 2: end of this story arc that actually takes place through
- 9:13Speaker 2: all three episodes for Cassian. Yep, they mention it, I
- 9:18Speaker 2: believe in episode one these beasts they say beast, they
- 9:23Speaker 2: don't say anything else, and it's kind of like this
- 9:27Speaker 2: lingering thing throughout the other two episodes. At one point
- 9:31Speaker 2: we see the remainder of somebody's foot, but that's it.
- 9:37Speaker 2: We don't see anything else. But then you actually see
- 9:41Speaker 2: the monster, this creature run right through the group of
- 9:47Speaker 2: individuals picking up somebody and it's a very like like
- 9:52Speaker 2: blink and you miss it thing, and you're like, holy crap.
- 9:57Speaker 2: My mind went to why would they choose that is
- 10:00Speaker 2: their home base?
- 10:03Speaker 3: Well, if you look at it too, the temples have
- 10:06Speaker 3: like an area around it, and like I going back
- 10:09Speaker 3: to Legos Star Wars for this, but like you look
- 10:12Speaker 3: at it and you can only revert. You can't go
- 10:15Speaker 3: into the forest. You can only traverse paths that have
- 10:18Speaker 3: been mapped out by the rebels. And so this is
- 10:21Speaker 3: just setting up for that Finyal arc because we know
- 10:25Speaker 3: they're on Yavin and the base has been set up
- 10:28Speaker 3: by that point, and this is just setting up that
- 10:31Speaker 3: location where Cassian is probably going to be the one
- 10:35Speaker 3: to repose the location and go, you know what, like
- 10:39Speaker 3: these beasts will prevent anybody from sneaking up on our base.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Yeah, like that's probably.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Going to be a legitimate thing that happens because he's
- 10:49Speaker 3: going to look back on that and go, you know what.
- 10:52Speaker 3: The thing I wanted to call out about here is,
- 10:56Speaker 3: so Cassian comes to Yavin to pass off the tide
- 11:00Speaker 3: to somebody else who knows where the tie is supposed
- 11:02Speaker 3: to be going. Yes, and that person's name is Porky.
- 11:08Speaker 3: All right, y'all, we're gonna hit our first ad break
- 11:10Speaker 3: and we will be right back in three two one.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Because they are actually one of the fighter pilots scene
- 11:20Speaker 3: in the a New Hope Death Star Fighter sequence.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Oh wow, remember their.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Tad name or Okay, I don't know if they're actually
- 11:30Speaker 3: that pilot, but one of the pilots in the New
- 11:34Speaker 3: Hope scene is pork Like that's his nickname.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Is there a connection there where the pilot actually survived
- 11:43Speaker 3: and so then he comes back to the rebellion or
- 11:46Speaker 3: is this just happenstance kind of thing. That's what a
- 11:50Speaker 3: lot of people are wondering. Uh, it feels like it
- 11:53Speaker 3: has to be a connection, because Tony Gower is really
- 11:56Speaker 3: good at saying oh yeah, like there's gonna be no
- 11:59Speaker 3: Easter eggs, like, but then he makes this connection like
- 12:03Speaker 3: we'll talk about it later, but like Padmey's headdress from
- 12:06Speaker 3: Attack of the Clones is in Luthen's shop, but.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Though IS's mask literally right next to it.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Oh is it? I guess that I saw the headdress
- 12:15Speaker 3: and I was.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Like, oh, gotta remember that.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Yes, because I never see Easter eggs always like I
- 12:22Speaker 3: have no idea what's in here at all? So yes,
- 12:27Speaker 3: uh Pork is one of the uh nicknames for one
- 12:32Speaker 3: of the pilots in her New Hope, so it feels
- 12:36Speaker 3: like there's a connection there. But it's also interesting because
- 12:41Speaker 3: Cassian when he manages to take off and leave the
- 12:45Speaker 3: Maya Pey crew behind, he actually gets in contact with
- 12:51Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, what's her name, Luthen's assistant.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Yes, I forgot to put her name down.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Then we see Kila Kyla. Will Clay looks that up
- 13:04Speaker 3: because I don't have the ability to.
- 13:08Speaker 2: A l e y.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Yes, So Cassian manages to get in contact with Claya
- 13:17Speaker 3: through an amazing communications array. Like I loved getting to
- 13:21Speaker 3: see more of that in these episodes because I feel
- 13:25Speaker 3: like there's just it just looks super interesting to manage
- 13:32Speaker 3: and everything. But Cassian gets in contact with her and
- 13:37Speaker 3: then is like, oh, I need to call home. Clay's like,
- 13:42Speaker 3: don't call home, and then figure Cassian figures out that
- 13:48Speaker 3: uh Mina Raw is the planet that Bix and Brasso
- 13:54Speaker 3: are on, and Cassian is playing Bix's husband. I don't
- 14:02Speaker 3: know if it's actually play or not. They weren't super
- 14:05Speaker 3: clear on that, but Bix calls him her husband in
- 14:09Speaker 3: these episodes, and so he realizes he needs to go home,
- 14:13Speaker 3: and will Pitt do we want to transition to Bix
- 14:16Speaker 3: and Brasso?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yes? I think that is is a very nice transition here, guys,
- 14:23Speaker 2: this fucking play is about us. Yes, here this whole scene.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Oh sorry, one more thing about Cassian. Sorry. I love
- 14:34Speaker 3: that they had him steal the tie Avender because I
- 14:38Speaker 3: think having some space battles in here is super important.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And the space battle at the beginning of episode one
- 14:45Speaker 3: is a really funny moment to kind of get you
- 14:48Speaker 3: into the deep the deeper elements of episodes two and three.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Like Matt and I were so tired before starting episode
- 14:58Speaker 3: and one. We were like, Okay, we're only do an
- 15:00Speaker 3: episode one. We're only doing episode one, and then we
- 15:02Speaker 3: have Disney Plus with commercials, and so the commercial ends
- 15:05Speaker 3: after the space battle where he takes off and everything,
- 15:08Speaker 3: and that Matt and I are both like, we're awake.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Now that that chase scene was absolutely gorgeous. By the way,
- 15:16Speaker 2: I did have that in my notes. But yeah, as
- 15:21Speaker 2: I was saying, not just Brazos and Bix's scene, but
- 15:26Speaker 2: this entire freaking three episodes, and I really do believe
- 15:29Speaker 2: that the entire season two is just a it's just
- 15:35Speaker 2: a mirror to America, guys. We need to make that
- 15:39Speaker 2: very very clear, and it was. It was made very
- 15:43Speaker 2: very clear in this episode two and three for sure.
- 15:50Speaker 2: With Bix and Brazos. Though they are basically having these
- 15:59Speaker 2: personas of engineers and.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Technicians, they pick up the Mechnic nickname. It was like
- 16:10Speaker 3: a variation from Acolyte. I found that super interesting. But
- 16:15Speaker 3: just as the heads up, guys, if you listen to
- 16:18Speaker 3: our drigger warning in the beginning, this is the section
- 16:21Speaker 3: with the rape that we're going to talk about, because
- 16:23Speaker 3: this is very important to talk about. So if you're here,
- 16:29Speaker 3: Clay will put down in the comments below where we
- 16:31Speaker 3: transition to our next section, so that way you can
- 16:35Speaker 3: just kind of skip over their this segment.
- 16:38Speaker 2: And I will I will add a time for when
- 16:41Speaker 2: we start this section, and I will put a time
- 16:44Speaker 2: for when this section has ended to when we moved
- 16:47Speaker 2: into Luthen's and mon Mathma's story story arc. But being
- 16:55Speaker 2: the technicians that they are, the mechnics, like you said,
- 17:00Speaker 2: we learn that, of course they are hiding. We know
- 17:05Speaker 2: that the Empire is visiting different locations on this planet
- 17:10Speaker 2: looking for illegal aliens.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and this is the first time they're coming to
- 17:15Speaker 3: this planet in ten years to basically do a census
- 17:21Speaker 3: on and they're kind of I found this part the
- 17:25Speaker 3: most interesting. They're kind of picking and choosing where they
- 17:30Speaker 3: take their battles. So some people who are not here
- 17:35Speaker 3: on quote visus, so not a citizen of the planet,
- 17:40Speaker 3: they're letting slide. But then in other cases they are
- 17:45Speaker 3: picking them up and arresting them. Runners definitely arresting and stuff.
- 17:49Speaker 3: So we're also bis and will as well as be too.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Email really kind of have to coordinate with the locals
- 18:00Speaker 3: they've made friends with and go, Okay, what's the best
- 18:04Speaker 3: plan here, Like you need technicians to work on your
- 18:09Speaker 3: equipment for the harvest, and like not everybody can do
- 18:12Speaker 3: this kind of thing. So they really step through that
- 18:15Speaker 3: and you get to see a lot of really good
- 18:17Speaker 3: local life and connections that they make. Brasso looks like
- 18:25Speaker 3: he's really engaged to a woman named Talia. Will is
- 18:30Speaker 3: making really good connections with a farmer's daughter Bolshebang, and
- 18:37Speaker 3: then Bix and Cassie and obviously so it's just there's
- 18:44Speaker 3: a lot of really good moments in this arc that
- 18:47Speaker 3: play out really well. But in episode one, of all
- 18:51Speaker 3: places you kind of see where this is going, or
- 18:54Speaker 3: was it episode two? It's one of those two. But
- 18:57Speaker 3: Bix has an interaction with the lieutenant who's conducting the census,
- 19:05Speaker 3: and as soon as she said, oh, I have a
- 19:08Speaker 3: husband to his flirtations, I knew stuff was going to
- 19:12Speaker 3: go bad.
- 19:13Speaker 2: He makes the comments of like, oh where is he? Oh,
- 19:19Speaker 2: you know, has he been gone long? How long has
- 19:21Speaker 2: he usually gone? Like all of these insinuating things, you
- 19:25Speaker 2: know that something's going to go down. It made me
- 19:29Speaker 2: very nervous.
- 19:31Speaker 3: It made super uncomfortable because I've been in that spot
- 19:35Speaker 3: like where somebody's learning, and like there have been times,
- 19:38Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, where I'm wearing like before I
- 19:41Speaker 3: got married, where I'm wearing a ring on my left
- 19:43Speaker 3: finger just to try and avoid attention and stuff, and
- 19:47Speaker 3: people still will be like, wait, where's your boyfriend, where's
- 19:51Speaker 3: your fiance?
- 19:52Speaker 2: Like yeah, Like.
- 19:56Speaker 3: It's just super uncomfortable, and there is a creator out
- 20:02Speaker 3: there who tried to go a Vader would have never
- 20:06Speaker 3: condoned any of this. If he had met this lieutenant,
- 20:09Speaker 3: he would have force choked the crap out of him.
- 20:12Speaker 3: And even this creator's own fans were tearing him apart
- 20:15Speaker 3: because dude, what the heck? Like Vader force choked his
- 20:20Speaker 3: wife basically to death. The Dark excuse me, The Dark
- 20:27Speaker 3: said does a lot of crazy things to people and
- 20:30Speaker 3: power in this case, because that's the name of the game.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And the funniest thing here is that critic actually says
- 20:39Speaker 3: that's the Empire's motive is unlimited power, and power goes
- 20:43Speaker 3: to people's heads. And in this case, rape is about
- 20:48Speaker 3: taking power from somebody else, Yeah, and exhibiting that, Like
- 20:54Speaker 3: it is a traumatizing thing and it is about exerting
- 20:59Speaker 3: the power you think you have over somebody else. And like, really.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Well, one thing that we need to remember from season
- 21:10Speaker 2: one is what bis Us already gone through.
- 21:15Speaker 3: She is so because I was thankful that actually this
- 21:23Speaker 3: was the only spoiler that I saw about and or
- 21:27Speaker 3: on Wednesday was like, why is there sexual assaults and
- 21:30Speaker 3: no trigger warning, like yeah, because as somebody who has
- 21:34Speaker 3: been sexually assaulted, like if I asked Snell because I
- 21:40Speaker 3: knew he had seen all three episodes and I was like, hey,
- 21:44Speaker 3: is because he was talking about episode three in the
- 21:46Speaker 3: chat and I was like, hey, is this where the
- 21:49Speaker 3: sexual assault happens? And he was like, yes, last ten minutes.
- 21:53Speaker 3: Y'all know me, y'all know, I don't want to look
- 21:55Speaker 3: at that. I still have a watch Rebel Moon.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Well, and like the thing was, it had also gotten
- 22:01Speaker 2: spoiled for me because it was such a big talking
- 22:06Speaker 2: point with the fact that there was no trigger warning,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and so I had messaged Travis and I said, hey,
- 22:20Speaker 2: I know what happens in episode three? Is there because
- 22:24Speaker 2: at that point I hadn't even finished episode two yet
- 22:27Speaker 2: and I just messaged it and I said, is there
- 22:29Speaker 2: a warning in front of episode three? And this was
- 22:33Speaker 2: before we started talking about it in our chat, and
- 22:36Speaker 2: he said, no, there's no warning. And my immediate thought
- 22:41Speaker 2: came came to you because I said, is there a
- 22:43Speaker 2: warning in the front of episode three? Because I don't
- 22:45Speaker 2: think Katie has seen it yet, and Travis said, no,
- 22:50Speaker 2: she knows about it. Already we've talked about it, but no,
- 22:52Speaker 2: there is no warning and my only response was shit,
- 22:58Speaker 2: because it's really guys.
- 23:02Speaker 3: And there is a trigger warning on the episode for
- 23:05Speaker 3: or there's like a warning. It's not like a trigger warning,
- 23:08Speaker 3: but it's like, hey, intense violence, rape is not violence,
- 23:14Speaker 3: and yes, the actual action does not occur here, but
- 23:17Speaker 3: the word is used like it is insinuated.
- 23:21Speaker 2: If you have been in the situation, you.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Know exactly what was going to happen if Bigs had
- 23:27Speaker 3: not gotten through her head and somebody is out in
- 23:33Speaker 3: the vehicle who had driven the lieutenant over and he's
- 23:36Speaker 3: out there and just listening to us going on. He's like,
- 23:39Speaker 3: the only reason he stepped up is because the guy
- 23:41Speaker 3: starts growing in like a oh crap, I'm hurt sort
- 23:45Speaker 3: of way, like I don't know, as a driver, you
- 23:50Speaker 3: don't have much power in that situation.
- 23:53Speaker 5: But there's also still the point of hey, if you
- 23:57Speaker 5: see it, speak up, because I just watched an episode
- 24:00Speaker 5: on a different show and she had been sexually harassed but.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Was too uncomfortable to speak up about it because all
- 24:08Speaker 3: of her friends are cops and she doesn't want to
- 24:11Speaker 3: become the bad name around her cop friends for getting
- 24:15Speaker 3: a cop fired and like losing his pension and stuff.
- 24:19Speaker 3: We're going to go into our second ad break and
- 24:23Speaker 3: we'll be right back. Nothing changes if we don't speak
- 24:27Speaker 3: up about it. And I know that right now in
- 24:29Speaker 3: the USA, like things are tough to speak about because
- 24:33Speaker 3: you have no idea what's going to happen if you do.
- 24:37Speaker 3: But if you feel comfortable in the moment, please step
- 24:41Speaker 3: up and say something and go, hey, this is not right.
- 24:43Speaker 3: You cannot use somebody's status against them like that. That
- 24:48Speaker 3: is not legal in the slightest And I know it
- 24:51Speaker 3: may seem like that is not stop it. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 3: and they are who knows the fear would have condoned it.
- 25:00Speaker 3: But that's not the point. The point is the empire
- 25:02Speaker 3: is corrupt and using their power inappropriate ways, and that's
- 25:06Speaker 3: in the name of Ander.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And also, like there's still you know, I'm gonna go
- 25:13Speaker 2: ahead and throw this out there. Still there's still the
- 25:16Speaker 2: debate if Vader is here in this season, Gilory has said.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Gilory has doubled down on saying that Vader is not
- 25:26Speaker 2: in the season, but also using Vader as a like
- 25:33Speaker 2: some sort of scapegoat to argue this situation. Is very weird.
- 25:40Speaker 2: We know that there are quote unquote genres within Star
- 25:44Speaker 2: Wars talking about certain subjects and everything else. Vader, well,
- 25:50Speaker 2: Vader could still very well fit into a season of
- 25:55Speaker 2: and Or. I think that could very well still even
- 25:58Speaker 2: if he's just a presence. But here we are telling
- 26:03Speaker 2: such a grotesque, strong, rounded, muddy story of a resistance,
- 26:19Speaker 2: a rebellion, a revolution, and go ahead, and like.
- 26:27Speaker 3: This person is only using this as an example because
- 26:32Speaker 3: he wants to rile people up. That's his game, that's
- 26:36Speaker 3: what he does. But he's also a person who doesn't
- 26:39Speaker 3: want Disney Star Wars to succeed. And Or besides aclate it, No,
- 26:45Speaker 3: I can't even say Actlae because Acolade had critiques. And
- 26:48Speaker 3: Or is one of the highest rated Star Wars things.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Ever and it's still in the nineties.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Yeah, the last I checked, this season's brotten tomato square
- 27:03Speaker 3: is tied with season one, and that's a very rare
- 27:06Speaker 3: thing that can happen for a show to come in
- 27:09Speaker 3: and hit as hard as and Or did. Because despite
- 27:12Speaker 3: my qualms with not having a trigger warning for episode thirty, like,
- 27:18Speaker 3: it's still a very good arc for the show. Very
- 27:21Speaker 3: good episodes practically flawless in my opinion, and they are
- 27:28Speaker 3: trying to use this to go, oh, well, George Lucas
- 27:31Speaker 3: would have never allowed this. Yes, that's right, because George
- 27:33Speaker 3: Lucas wanted to great science fantasy and not a political
- 27:37Speaker 3: thriller and not something adult. He wanted to make Star
- 27:41Speaker 3: Wars for kids, and yes, Star Wars is still for kids,
- 27:45Speaker 3: but there can be some elements of Star Wars that
- 27:47Speaker 3: are not for kids. This episode, in particular episode three,
- 27:51Speaker 3: last ten minutes, please don't show your kids. That's not
- 27:55Speaker 3: a way to treat it. Treat women or men, because
- 27:58Speaker 3: it can happen in them. So props the Bics for
- 28:04Speaker 3: overcoming her trauma and being able to get out of
- 28:07Speaker 3: that situation because especially seeing her nightmare in episode one
- 28:13Speaker 3: when she's sleeping and seeing Gorl I think his name
- 28:18Speaker 3: was like coming up to her bed. That kind of
- 28:21Speaker 3: telegraphed things for me too, because in your safe space,
- 28:26Speaker 3: where your only protection is like a blanket basically, and
- 28:32Speaker 3: you're in your sleep, you're supposed to be safe. So
- 28:35Speaker 3: that kind of telegraphed for me what was coming. But
- 28:40Speaker 3: I'm so proud she was able to stand up for
- 28:43Speaker 3: herself and kick the guys butt.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and even that entire like we said, ten
- 28:56Speaker 2: minutes of the back and the hammering of the dude's skull,
- 29:05Speaker 2: like all of it was so Like I even told Abby,
- 29:13Speaker 2: I said, I am hesitant to watch this because I
- 29:18Speaker 2: don't know how intense this is going to be. Because
- 29:24Speaker 2: Travis even said it in urguhha, he said, this is
- 29:28Speaker 2: something I never thought Disney would ever allow any capacity
- 29:33Speaker 2: onto their platform. Yeah, and they did, and so in
- 29:39Speaker 2: doing so, that kind of got me a little worried
- 29:41Speaker 2: of like how far do they go?
- 29:45Speaker 3: And props to Disney for saying yes to including this
- 29:49Speaker 3: because it was done in a safe space, I'm sure,
- 29:53Speaker 3: with an intimacy coordinator where they were able to go
- 29:56Speaker 3: step by step like hey, what are you comfortable with?
- 29:59Speaker 3: Like I'm glad they didn't show rape obviously, and that
- 30:03Speaker 3: they showed bits that were coming that, but it's drawn
- 30:07Speaker 3: a lot of conversation, and maybe it's just because of
- 30:10Speaker 3: the trigger warning, but it's still drawing conversation to hey,
- 30:15Speaker 3: men in power don't get to do this. Women in
- 30:18Speaker 3: power don't get to do this, Like it's something to say,
- 30:22Speaker 3: like if you show them getting away with it, But
- 30:27Speaker 3: the guy dies spoiler alert, but again important to the conversation.
- 30:32Speaker 3: I don't think if they had shown this with the
- 30:39Speaker 3: full rape and the guy getting away with it, I
- 30:41Speaker 3: would be having a very different conversation. But they approached
- 30:44Speaker 3: it where they knew, Hey, this will draw conversation around
- 30:51Speaker 3: a topic that really needs to continue to be talked
- 30:55Speaker 3: about because it's a tough topic. Yeah, and it's not
- 31:01Speaker 3: done enough justice. Do we need rape and Star Wars?
- 31:08Speaker 3: It depends on the context in this situation. I appreciate
- 31:12Speaker 3: that Gilroy and I think it's Aerial Kleinman who directed
- 31:18Speaker 3: this arc. We're able to do this and approach it
- 31:23Speaker 3: in a way that Bix was able to overcome a
- 31:27Speaker 3: lot of things and get out alive. Yeah, because not
- 31:34Speaker 3: a lot of women do. And a lot of times
- 31:42Speaker 3: sexual assault and harassment can come from like a person
- 31:47Speaker 3: that you know, a person that you're in a relationship with,
- 31:52Speaker 3: but also it can just come from anybody else. And yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 3: that's about all I got without tearing up, And we're
- 32:04Speaker 3: about to jump into our third ad.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Y'all.
- 32:07Speaker 3: We promise we'll be right back, We promise.
- 32:10Speaker 2: I do want to ask you this now that you've
- 32:12Speaker 2: seen it. I don't think I have seen and this
- 32:19Speaker 2: may also be my lack of being on social media
- 32:22Speaker 2: as of that day that we all talked about it.
- 32:25Speaker 2: But should Disney go back and add the trigger warning.
- 32:32Speaker 3: I if I were Disney, I would I would take
- 32:36Speaker 3: this as a lesson learned. And obviously we've all seen
- 32:41Speaker 3: with ratings and stuff where people don't want to admit
- 32:44Speaker 3: that sexual violence is something that nessa and needs to
- 32:47Speaker 3: be addressed, and people go, oh, well, we can rope
- 32:50Speaker 3: this under intense violence. It is not the same thing,
- 32:54Speaker 3: because I can handle blood and gore and that's what
- 32:58Speaker 3: I would consider intense violence and like action sequences and everything.
- 33:07Speaker 3: If it had not been because I only opened my
- 33:11Speaker 3: Twitter probably twice that day to the homepage, specifically because
- 33:17Speaker 3: I open it a couple of times to messages and
- 33:20Speaker 3: stuff because that's mostly what I use Twitter for nowadays.
- 33:24Speaker 3: If I had not seen that, and I had not
- 33:27Speaker 3: asked now where that was, it would have been something
- 33:30Speaker 3: that would have given me nightmares and would have really
- 33:36Speaker 3: caused me to potentially hesitate to proceed forward. But because
- 33:42Speaker 3: I had warning, I was able to kind of not
- 33:46Speaker 3: necessarily power through because it was still traumatizing in the moment,
- 33:51Speaker 3: don't ever let anybody tell you that that is not traumatizing,
- 33:56Speaker 3: because it is. It would have been really hard for
- 34:00Speaker 3: me to proceed for with and Or from here, like
- 34:04Speaker 3: I'm and I'm being completely honest. Yes it's Star Wars. Yes,
- 34:08Speaker 3: there could have not been a single sexual assault the
- 34:10Speaker 3: rest of the episode. But clearly Hollywood, especially with like
- 34:16Speaker 3: I know, Rebel Moon, is kind of in the same
- 34:19Speaker 3: boat with like the definition of sexual assault kind of
- 34:23Speaker 3: being in play there. And you could say I'm being
- 34:27Speaker 3: a hypocrite because I hadn't watched Rebel Moon, but I
- 34:29Speaker 3: watched and Or. But I also didn't know it was
- 34:32Speaker 3: coming in and Or, and I had committed to this show.
- 34:36Speaker 2: So I also, I want to make the comment because
- 34:41Speaker 2: I wanted to say this in our chat, but of
- 34:45Speaker 2: course I think that sometimes texts can get very misconstrued
- 34:50Speaker 2: without hearing the actual words from somebody's mouths. And I
- 34:55Speaker 2: was gonna say this and I and I think I
- 34:57Speaker 2: need to just stay here on the podcast. It's very unfortunate.
- 35:01Speaker 2: But there's probably some very stupid people in charge at
- 35:06Speaker 2: Disney and are saying, hey, because there is no penetration
- 35:12Speaker 2: or intercourse, it's not sexual. It's not rape, So it's
- 35:15Speaker 2: okay to not put a trigger warning, and that very
- 35:18Speaker 2: much upsets me.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Yeah, because it's still sexual assault. He still touches her
- 35:26Speaker 3: inappropriate ways and tries to get her to do more,
- 35:31Speaker 3: because you shouldn't touch anybody unless it's okay, and consent
- 35:37Speaker 3: can be I think it's important to state that consent
- 35:41Speaker 3: can be physical, it can also be verbal. In this case,
- 35:45Speaker 3: he had neither, yeah, and was just trying to use
- 35:48Speaker 3: her illegal status on the planet against her because she
- 35:54Speaker 3: had my apologies because she had said note to him
- 36:03Speaker 3: by saying she had a husband, and so sexual assault
- 36:09Speaker 3: is not just rape. And even if you put sexual
- 36:12Speaker 3: harassment in here, Okay, fine, I can kind of accept that.
- 36:18Speaker 3: But yeah, there should have been a sh warning or
- 36:22Speaker 3: an essay warning on this episode, and it Disney should
- 36:29Speaker 3: do right and change it.
- 36:32Speaker 2: I agree. Now my question to you is do you
- 36:38Speaker 2: want to go to Luthen and mon Mathma or would
- 36:42Speaker 2: you like to go with critic Dedra and Cyril.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Next, we got to talk about the end of episode three, though,
- 36:52Speaker 3: because the rape was not the end of episode three.
- 36:55Speaker 3: For also, that's because we have a very important so
- 37:02Speaker 3: in this hunt that the lieutenant does Brosso tries to
- 37:07Speaker 3: go rescue Will because they have decided, Okay, we're gonna
- 37:10Speaker 3: go to a different section of the planet, and Will,
- 37:14Speaker 3: having made a commitment to his girlfriend, doesn't tell Vix
- 37:20Speaker 3: and Brosso that he has to leave to go say bye.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I'm very mad at him.
- 37:25Speaker 4: I'm very mad at him because Brosso would not have
- 37:27Speaker 4: died I Will.
- 37:29Speaker 2: Okay. So so my notes, guys, for these episodes, I
- 37:35Speaker 2: basically annotate. I'm just putting my reactions to every scene
- 37:40Speaker 2: that's happening. And literally the last note I put an
- 37:47Speaker 2: extra note last that I am hesitan that I was
- 37:50Speaker 2: hesitant to put, and I'll and I'll say it once
- 37:52Speaker 2: we get to that part of the episode or this
- 37:55Speaker 2: this review. But one of my last notes is literally
- 37:59Speaker 2: in all caps, not Brosso.
- 38:03Speaker 3: I literally because I didn't know if anybody else had
- 38:05Speaker 3: watched it. You hadn't watched it by the time I
- 38:08Speaker 3: had finished episode three and I had to get to bed.
- 38:12Speaker 3: But I sent Smell a message and was like, fuck you,
- 38:17Speaker 3: like not Brosso. Why did you take Brosso? Like I
- 38:22Speaker 3: was so mad? He was so nice to be too,
- 38:26Speaker 3: he like I had a relationship with Talia, Like I.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Was so mad also, I know not a lot of
- 38:37Speaker 2: people are talking about it, which also makes me a
- 38:39Speaker 2: little sad. B two is now gone.
- 38:43Speaker 3: He's just forgotten, right, He's just left on Mino Raw
- 38:48Speaker 3: with Talia.
- 38:51Speaker 2: It took me a day, I'll admit it took me
- 38:53Speaker 2: a day to finally realize. I was like, oh, no,
- 38:56Speaker 2: me too.
- 38:58Speaker 3: No, I knew as soon as they took off because
- 39:02Speaker 3: Cassian comes in, so everybody's kind of buckled down. Will
- 39:07Speaker 3: has shot the driver of the lieutenant, so the lieutenant
- 39:11Speaker 3: and the driver are both dead. But the rest of
- 39:14Speaker 3: the storm Troopers got called to where they live, and
- 39:20Speaker 3: so Cassian, because of his conversation with Clia, comes in
- 39:24Speaker 3: in the tie Avenger basically just shoots the place up,
- 39:29Speaker 3: and so he shoots the troopers that are following Brosso,
- 39:33Speaker 3: but one of the troopers had already shot Brosso off
- 39:35Speaker 3: brosso speeder, so then he Cassian holds Brosso like he's
- 39:43Speaker 3: already dead at this point, but he figures it out
- 39:47Speaker 3: and it's kind of like hey, like, we gotta go,
- 39:53Speaker 3: and they leave his body behind. And I that made
- 39:56Speaker 3: me super sad, but I know, I'm sorry, Like I cried.
- 40:06Speaker 2: I was actually really upset. I almost teared up because
- 40:12Speaker 2: there's a moment where like we all we like, for
- 40:17Speaker 2: all tends and purposes, the bad guys are dead. Cassiean
- 40:21Speaker 2: is gonna, you know, step down the steps and he's gonna,
- 40:24Speaker 2: you know, hug Russels. There's gonna be a huge reunion,
- 40:27Speaker 2: like this assumption that like, hey, everything's okay now Cassian
- 40:31Speaker 2: is here, and then you it cuts to Vix and
- 40:38Speaker 2: what was his name again?
- 40:39Speaker 3: Will?
- 40:40Speaker 2: It cuts the Bix and Will and they're like, that
- 40:43Speaker 2: must be Cassian. Let's go, let's go, let's go, and
- 40:45Speaker 2: they just start booking it. They start running. Uh well,
- 40:48Speaker 2: I think they actually get on the speeder. But then
- 40:52Speaker 2: Cassian looks around and the way that this is shot,
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'm so mad. The camera turns and you see the
- 41:02Speaker 2: speeder and then you notice that it's that it has
- 41:05Speaker 2: fallen down.
- 41:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it would be.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Completely different if the if the speeder was upright, because
- 41:11Speaker 2: then you're like, oh, it just stopped. He parked it. No,
- 41:15Speaker 2: it's on its side, you know that it crashed.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Why would I was so sad.
- 41:20Speaker 2: I was so upset.
- 41:23Speaker 3: I am so mad because I really wanted Brasso to
- 41:27Speaker 3: be able to make it. But I mean we know
- 41:31Speaker 3: what happens in a New Hope. We know, Hey, these
- 41:36Speaker 3: people are not going to be significant enough. Akay, they weren't.
- 41:40Speaker 3: They didn't exist as characters when a New Hopeless shut.
- 41:43Speaker 3: But they're not going to be significant enough in the
- 41:46Speaker 3: story or they're going to die. And in this case,
- 41:50Speaker 3: it looks like they will kill off Cassian's Ferris family
- 41:55Speaker 3: to get him to be the hero. He isn't wrote one.
- 41:59Speaker 2: So does what that means? Do you think that Bix
- 42:03Speaker 2: is gonna.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Die the only aim?
- 42:10Speaker 3: So the answer is yes, and mainly because our Honah
- 42:20Speaker 3: and O'Reilly said that the only time they ever saw
- 42:26Speaker 3: each other was in the makeup tent.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 42:33Speaker 3: And if you were at least in scenes like even
- 42:39Speaker 3: if Bix was in the background of like a yeah,
- 42:42Speaker 3: I've been for mon Mathma shot, Yeah, then you would
- 42:47Speaker 3: have seen each other.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:49Speaker 3: I it doesn't sound like Bix survives.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Oh, that's gonna be rough and I and I hate
- 43:01Speaker 2: to bring this back up because we were kind of
- 43:04Speaker 2: in the clear for Bix's story with the rape and
- 43:07Speaker 2: everything else. So I'm just going to extend that time
- 43:11Speaker 2: stamp the fact that she had her small victory here
- 43:16Speaker 2: in episode three knowing that she probably won't make it
- 43:19Speaker 2: by the end of the season really hurts.
- 43:22Speaker 3: It really hurts. My hope would be that she finds
- 43:28Speaker 3: a young rebel pilot to go off with. But I
- 43:33Speaker 3: also don't think that Cassiean would be who he is
- 43:37Speaker 3: and be able to work with Jin so effectively if
- 43:41Speaker 3: Bix was still around. I think it makes a lot
- 43:45Speaker 3: of sense to his character now. It may also explain
- 43:50Speaker 3: why he's such a hard ass at the beginning of
- 43:52Speaker 3: Rogue one is because he just came off a mission
- 43:56Speaker 3: where Bis dies, and that's true, like has to recover
- 44:02Speaker 3: and stuff. So I saw somebody on Twitter, Sorry, this
- 44:09Speaker 3: is kind of important, but also not. Somebody on Twitter
- 44:13Speaker 3: was like, now we know we're casting down to his sister,
- 44:17Speaker 3: and it was a picture of him hugging Jin and
- 44:21Speaker 3: this should be our final ad break. So y'all, thanks
- 44:25Speaker 3: for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 44:29Speaker 3: As the death Star was about to explode them, y'all
- 44:36Speaker 3: doesn't know.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Is that is that implaining that Jen is the sister?
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 44:44Speaker 2: Do they know what happens right before that? Hug?
- 44:47Speaker 3: I need reader comprehension. We got to stop using chat
- 44:51Speaker 3: GPT y'all. If you're using chat GPT to pass things,
- 44:55Speaker 3: please don't you need to learn because that's pathetic. That's
- 45:03Speaker 3: not just Ray kissing Ben or Ben kissing Ray whatever, like, no,
- 45:08Speaker 3: that's completely different.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah. So where would you like to go?
- 45:15Speaker 2: Would you like to go, uh the Empire route with
- 45:18Speaker 2: with Deirdre and Cyril and critic or would you like
- 45:23Speaker 2: to talk about Luthen and mon Matha.
- 45:27Speaker 3: Let's go ahead and knock out the Empire? I would say,
- 45:35Speaker 3: because that's kind of the shortest one left.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I I just I want to say it first. First
- 45:44Speaker 2: comment about them, Cyril and Dedra that I have, Oh God,
- 45:52Speaker 2: they live together is the is the literal? Is the
- 45:56Speaker 2: literal notation that I had because again, you see the
- 46:01Speaker 2: last scene that they have in season one is this
- 46:05Speaker 2: very like adrenaline blade like adrenaline based awkward moment that
- 46:13Speaker 2: it's like like, thank you for saving me, but at
- 46:17Speaker 2: the same time, this is very awkward, I don't know
- 46:19Speaker 2: what to do with myself type of thing, and you're like,
- 46:21Speaker 2: there's no way anything can come from this. And of
- 46:24Speaker 2: course the Internet, it's gonna Internet. And they did what
- 46:26Speaker 2: they did, and Tony Gilroy made it happen. The moment
- 46:34Speaker 2: I saw Ddre, which, by the way, the the uh,
- 46:41Speaker 2: what's what's the right specific word that I'm looking for,
- 46:45Speaker 2: the mirror, the outfit, well, yeah, the the fact that
- 46:54Speaker 2: their world is now so much like modern mind no, no, no,
- 47:00Speaker 2: like looking at our real world and then looking at
- 47:03Speaker 2: Star Wars and be like, oh, there's a closet like
- 47:06Speaker 2: they it you look at the again. We talked about it, Yeah,
- 47:11Speaker 2: we talked about it in Skeleton Crew. The fact that
- 47:14Speaker 2: we saw this planet that looked very much like our own.
- 47:18Speaker 2: We're like, that's a little weird, but we'll go with it.
- 47:21Speaker 2: The modernization of Star Wars and everything else. Seeing Dedra
- 47:27Speaker 2: and a very nice silky shirt and pants and everything else,
- 47:32Speaker 2: I was like, this is this is totally her character,
- 47:36Speaker 2: but like her hair is down. It's making me a
- 47:39Speaker 2: little bit uncomfortable. I don't know how I feel here.
- 47:42Speaker 3: This was wild to me. I basically had the same
- 47:47Speaker 3: reaction you did, because obviously we have kind of seen
- 47:52Speaker 3: like stuff that I had cut out of our Star
- 47:54Speaker 3: Wars celebration and run down was like the Dijre Miro
- 48:02Speaker 3: actress talking about her relationship with Cyril and everything, and
- 48:06Speaker 3: like they've been doing all their press together and stuff.
- 48:10Speaker 3: I never thought it was like, oh, they lived together
- 48:14Speaker 3: relationship Like I thought there was gonna be like sexual
- 48:18Speaker 3: tension of like, no, y'all, no, they fucking live together.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Uh, Like their intentions are not just work base. Let's
- 48:29Speaker 2: just say that.
- 48:31Speaker 3: And the main parts of their story is Dedra meeting
- 48:36Speaker 3: with critic about Gorman. We'll get into that in a second,
- 48:42Speaker 3: but we're already here at the relationship part, so we
- 48:44Speaker 3: might as well talk about this. But the last two
- 48:48Speaker 3: episodes is Degra meets Cyril's mother. Y'all, I died.
- 48:58Speaker 2: I really have the notation Deirdre laying down the law.
- 49:04Speaker 2: I love this scene.
- 49:05Speaker 3: It was epic, Like I love how she just goes
- 49:10Speaker 3: all right, here's what the plan is. If you behave
- 49:14Speaker 3: and you don't talk down to him, you get to
- 49:17Speaker 3: see him twice a month. He'll call once a week.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Like it was great, it was.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Well.
- 49:25Speaker 2: And the thing was is that Cyril's mother was very
- 49:30Speaker 2: condescending when she first entered the scene. Also, I want
- 49:34Speaker 2: to just apologize, I did not remember Cyril's mother being
- 49:39Speaker 2: that croaky and like it's croaky but also very high pitched,
- 49:44Speaker 2: and I was just like, this is hard to watch.
- 49:46Speaker 2: I don't remember her voice being like this, and it was.
- 49:50Speaker 2: And so she's saying like, oh, I did not picture
- 49:54Speaker 2: you looking like this, and like I was like, oh no.
- 49:58Speaker 2: I was like, oh no, what's gonna happen? And the
- 50:03Speaker 2: way that it all just fell into place the way
- 50:07Speaker 2: that it did was again very uncomfortable, but very satisfying
- 50:14Speaker 2: as somebody who is in a relationship that both of
- 50:20Speaker 2: our mothers are kind of toxic. Well Abby's mother definitely
- 50:25Speaker 2: being toxic and racist, my mother being super toxic. We
- 50:31Speaker 2: have both been in that situation with our in laws.
- 50:36Speaker 2: So I was laughing the entire time. But what made
- 50:39Speaker 2: me laugh even more is finding out after the fact
- 50:45Speaker 2: the scene where Cyril is literally just laying in bed
- 50:51Speaker 2: completely just like one leg straight, one kind of bent
- 50:56Speaker 2: over the bed and him just like staring into nothingness
- 51:01Speaker 2: was all ad libbed. It was improv Uh. None of
- 51:07Speaker 2: the cast mates knew that he did this while he
- 51:12Speaker 2: was in that bedroom.
- 51:16Speaker 3: And Tony Gilroy wanted to take that out, like.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Oh, it works so good.
- 51:22Speaker 3: It shows so much to Cyril's character, and like him
- 51:27Speaker 3: having that moment where he's like I'm having a panic
- 51:30Speaker 3: attack and then like goes back in and just like
- 51:36Speaker 3: do you want more cake? And his mom's like, oh, Cyril,
- 51:40Speaker 3: I'm so proud of you forgetting a promotion, like it
- 51:45Speaker 3: was amazing, and his like face AND's like, I don't
- 51:50Speaker 3: worry about I got this.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Like I'm amazing. It was amazing. I really really liked
- 51:59Speaker 2: that part. Again, uncomfortable thinking that they're together, but it
- 52:05Speaker 2: is what it is, you know.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I something I want to point out is Deetra practicing
- 52:11Speaker 3: her smile.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah, mirror.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Did you notice the difference between that smile and the
- 52:19Speaker 3: one she had torturing Bicks, because they're very different smiles. Yeah,
- 52:26Speaker 3: And it just tells you what trying a person she is, Like,
- 52:29Speaker 3: she's not a nice person. I'm very interested to see
- 52:32Speaker 3: because I remember in the trailer, and I have not
- 52:34Speaker 3: been watching like any new trailers, but in one of
- 52:39Speaker 3: like the original trailers for and Or there's a scene
- 52:44Speaker 3: that I'm pretty sure was not in these episodes where
- 52:46Speaker 3: Cyril is looks like he's yelling at Deirdre, and I'm
- 52:49Speaker 3: wondering how that's going to play in and are we
- 52:52Speaker 3: going to see that relationship kind of falter?
- 52:55Speaker 2: And like I think I think it will, and I
- 52:59Speaker 2: think it has to do with the moment that we're
- 53:02Speaker 2: now going to talk about with Critic and Dedre's new promotion.
- 53:10Speaker 3: Which I promotion demotion.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Well, and that's what that's what I wrote down. I said,
- 53:17Speaker 2: Gorman a failing upward demotion mhm is what I put.
- 53:26Speaker 2: And if people don't know small spoilers for the Star
- 53:31Speaker 2: Wars universe, Gorman plays a very important part in the
- 53:40Speaker 2: whole Star Wars story, in the rebellion and everything else.
- 53:48Speaker 2: I believe we are actually going to see it. One.
- 53:52Speaker 2: I think that there's moments in the very first trailer
- 53:55Speaker 2: that are very much uh, and I'll go ahead and
- 53:59Speaker 2: say it, uh. What is dubbed the Gorman Massacre. I
- 54:05Speaker 2: do believe we're going to see that by the end
- 54:08Speaker 2: of this I.
- 54:09Speaker 3: Do as well. I think that's gonna be the third
- 54:11Speaker 3: arc is the Gorman Massacre, because Critic says, oh yeah,
- 54:17Speaker 3: our plans here will take two to three years, and
- 54:21Speaker 3: we know from Tony yol Roy they liked the sets
- 54:23Speaker 3: of Gorman so much that they chose to use them
- 54:26Speaker 3: in five episodes. So that's one arc and two other episodes. Technically,
- 54:32Speaker 3: we saw it in episode one, so that's one of them.
- 54:35Speaker 3: So I think it makes sense here that now that
- 54:42Speaker 3: five episode count kind of makes sense because I was like, oh,
- 54:45Speaker 3: are we going to be like building this? I forget
- 54:47Speaker 3: that we have five different character arcs to kind of
- 54:50Speaker 3: follow in this, So I'm interested to see how that
- 54:55Speaker 3: plays out because they don't. Basically, Gorman houses a mineral
- 55:03Speaker 3: that they want to use for unlimited power, but taking
- 55:08Speaker 3: that mineral out will destroy the planet.
- 55:12Speaker 2: The mineral I was going to ask if it has
- 55:15Speaker 2: any significance that Caltite.
- 55:21Speaker 3: I did not recognize it, and I did not have
- 55:26Speaker 3: time to look it up, so I don't know. But
- 55:33Speaker 3: like bad Batch, everything has liked to like invent their
- 55:37Speaker 3: own metals so they don't have to worry about like
- 55:41Speaker 3: interluding with other stories kind of thing, so I didn't
- 55:45Speaker 3: really think too much about it. I in this case,
- 55:50Speaker 3: I would assume that it is a mineral needed to
- 55:53Speaker 3: build the Death Star. Because Crinic doesn't mention start us
- 56:00Speaker 3: in this, I.
- 56:01Speaker 2: Think he will eventually, though.
- 56:03Speaker 3: He will eventually. In this case, it's just a secret
- 56:08Speaker 3: organization of all of the different departments in the Empire
- 56:15Speaker 3: that it kind of needed to spin this idea that
- 56:19Speaker 3: Mormon needs to evacuate.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm really glad that I read the Throng trilogy
- 56:27Speaker 2: this just because of I know, critic from of Course
- 56:35Speaker 2: wrote one, Yes, gott getting a little bit more of
- 56:39Speaker 2: his personality and how close he is to start us
- 56:44Speaker 2: and making that a priority. That gives me a little
- 56:49Speaker 2: bit of insight on these decisions that he's making in
- 56:52Speaker 2: season two of and Or. I know, okay, everything he
- 56:56Speaker 2: does is not just for the Empire, but it's for
- 57:01Speaker 2: Emperor Palpatine and Project Stardust. So I'm really interested to
- 57:07Speaker 2: see how because again, even at the very end, the
- 57:11Speaker 2: very last freaking shot of and Or season one was
- 57:15Speaker 2: of the incomplete Death Star. It was. It was the
- 57:20Speaker 2: literal breadcrumbs of Project Stardust. I'm sure we are going
- 57:27Speaker 2: to be getting updates on that eventually.
- 57:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I would imagine. So as well, it'll be interesting
- 57:35Speaker 3: to see how the Gorman Massacre translates from legends to canon,
- 57:42Speaker 3: because originally the Gordonman massacre was just the Star Destroyer
- 57:46Speaker 3: shooting or was it shooting or did it land on
- 57:50Speaker 3: a bunch of civilians? I don't remember. I think it
- 57:53Speaker 3: was a comic based one which didn't real lot of
- 57:57Speaker 3: Legends Comics. It'll be interesting to see how it translates
- 58:01Speaker 3: and how we move forward with it. Dietter actually says
- 58:05Speaker 3: she doesn't want the Gorman project. I think she doesn't
- 58:10Speaker 3: want to be in charge of losing a bunch of life,
- 58:13Speaker 3: especially with a planet that is so planet forward that's
- 58:20Speaker 3: not a word, but like they're very patriotic about their planet.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Yes, But also I think that she is very much
- 58:28Speaker 2: of course, she's now in a relationship with Cyril. They
- 58:31Speaker 2: must have talked about their overall mission in trying to
- 58:36Speaker 2: find Cassian, like, and I'm sure some of that validity
- 58:42Speaker 2: that Cyril had to like, hey, I'm going to get
- 58:46Speaker 2: Cassiine He's he needs to be caught, Their justice needs
- 58:50Speaker 2: to be served, all of this type of thing. But
- 58:52Speaker 2: because she even tries to like defend herself in not
- 58:57Speaker 2: wanting Gorman, she's like thinking, we almost got him. I
- 59:00Speaker 2: know that we are. You know, she keeps making these
- 59:03Speaker 2: these points of like, hey, if we just keep moving forward,
- 59:06Speaker 2: we can you know, grab these people that started this
- 59:09Speaker 2: whole thing, blah blah blah blah blah. So it's it's
- 59:13Speaker 2: a very serial type of comment that she makes, and
- 59:16Speaker 2: that's what got me to think, like, oh, yeah, they
- 59:19Speaker 2: probably talked about this, and there there was probably that
- 59:23Speaker 2: conversation that very awkward, like couple conversation of like, hey,
- 59:27Speaker 2: we know this is probably gonna happen in your job,
- 59:29Speaker 2: what should your response be? And like them planning and
- 59:32Speaker 2: I could totally see that happening. But yeah, the the
- 59:37Speaker 2: moment in that meeting, for one, I keep forgetting his name.
- 59:43Speaker 2: I love him as an actor critic Ben Mendelssohn, Yes,
- 59:50Speaker 2: sells his role so fucking well. He is just the
- 59:57Speaker 2: embodiment of critic, Like.
- 59:59Speaker 3: He has so much fun in this, Like this is
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: why he came back to Star Wars because he's a
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: lot of fun in the character. And I feel like
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Tony like him. He potentially shot a lot of his
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Broke one stuff with Tony and so that like is
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: more convincing for him to come back. It just is
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: so good to see him.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I really really enjoy it. Trying to see if
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: there is any other that I see about. You know,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: I think the rest of my motes, the rest of
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: my notes are about I was thinking of man Mathama
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: and the sound came out. I'm thinking about Man Mathma
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: and Luthen for this last part of the review.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: And this should be our final ad break, So y'all
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: right back.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: The hot literally is the last scene of episode three,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: so we'll be talking about it later, but the section
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: will be of course about man Mathma Luthan and the
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: storyline of Chandrilla.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: Uh. The first comment that I have excuse me, jeez uh,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: The first comment I have here is that I really
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: enjoyed this sequence and learning a lot more about Chandrilla
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: because Chandrilla is not typically the planet of focus, but
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: is man Mathma's home and the planet she represents. It
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: matters a lot here and seeing Lyda's wedding in the
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: ceremony involved here, like I feel like the Jedi or
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: Chandrilla potentially picked up on customs from either.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Yes, I believe you shared a comment about that on Twitter, but.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Actually this is how fast the past three days of God.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Let me actually see. Yes, it says here chandrillin fashion
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: and the bright snipping of the wedding ceremony are very Jedi.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: That's chandrillin civilization is old and they were suffering, were
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: cotton invasion when the Jedi were first setting up. Are
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: we getting Dawn of the Jedi crumbs twenty five thousand
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: years ago? Seems significant.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: That was super interesting because one of the reasons Luthen
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: is at the wedding because mom didn't even invite him.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: The husband's father did. For the husband to be's father, Yeah,
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: him because he has a present for Leada and oh
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: my gosh, I can't remember the husband's name. I'm gonna
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: call him husband and just kind of stick with that
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: because he's pretty irrelevant. But basically chindrilling customs, like the
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: statue was like one of the artworks of their gods,
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: I think, in their religion. Yeah, and that's kind of
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: how the Recottinent Invaders came to be. But it's another
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: good tie in to have the Recotton information there. And
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: it does make you think of Don of the Jedi
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: and go, hey, is this seeds that are being planted?
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: I think that would be very interesting considering how again
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Tony Gilroy works with the idea of no Easter eggs
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: things like that. Of course, there is the whole nephew
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: of oh but you know, Darth Vader and Princess Leah,
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: the very en. That wasn't Tony who directed that, So
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: you know, it's it's at the end of the day,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: it's a lucasfilm production, and so Tony can do as
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: much as he wants to a point, and then if
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: other hands want to get into that cookie jar, technically
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: they can, exactly.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: And it may have been a line where Catherine Kennedy
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: was like, hey, can you potentially throw this in as
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: like a hey, this would be really awesome, but if
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: you can't do it, then.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. It's it's I think that is more reasonable
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: than like playing a whole scene out right where you
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: can just throw in this dialogue out of nowhere and
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: it still makes sense. It's still be relevant, yep, and
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: it be something that you could very easily just be like, hey,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: remember you know that random TV show four or five
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: years ago.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's completely logical one way or another.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: So that's why Luthen is at the wedding and Clia
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: follows him there. But Cleia is trying to make the
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: trade of the Tie Avengers somehow and is like coordinating
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Cassian and Porko. Porky one of the two.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Porko I just a while ago.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry. Yeah, okay, so I called him porky in
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: the first part. Please ignore me. I'm running on little sleep, porko.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: So she has to like try and find the communications,
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: and by day two she's like, dude, I can't get
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: a hold of anybody. I'm gonna go back to Coroissant
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: where I can be a little more in charge. Yeah,
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: And Luthen's like, I don't have a brag for you,
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: and Clia' is like, oh, but I have a ride.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: This scene in particular makes me feel like Clia has
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: taken over like the reins a little bit, and she
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: is the one in charge and not Luthan.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I think, more so, like I wouldn't say that she's
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: more in charge, which I'm totally fine with. I more
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: so think she is his anchor. Yeah, he like and
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: not saying that he like gets distracted from the quote
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: unquote mission because I think that Luthan is too much
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: into them, And there's moments where I'm like, Luthan, chill
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: the fuck out, like you're you trying to be covert
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: and you trying to be like not doing this rebellion
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: mission right now, You're totally doing the rebellion mission right now,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: and you're going to compromise a whole lot of people,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: so chill out, man.
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: Well and Luthen's interactions here are especially interesting, especially when
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: it comes down to the banker friend of Man mathma
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Y's her name.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: I was literally looking it up the other day.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: So this is the banker that was making Man foundation
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: to try and hide her rebellion transactions and gets her
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: in contact with the smug take. And basically he is
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: really pissed off because his transactions for the rebellion are
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: not profitable. He thought they would be profitable mm hmm,
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: and his loss of profits have now caused his wife
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: to leave him, and Tate basically spends the whole three
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: days a leader's wedding drunk off his butt. Yeah, And
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: Luthen is seeing all this because Tay is interacting with mine,
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: and Tay's like basically insinuating, hey, you need to pay
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: up because I need something here, because like and is
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: a very good representation of Hey, yes, I'm an advocate.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: I am an ally until it no longer benefits me.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm trying to learn that.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Less than myself not to do that. But this is like,
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: this is the vocal piece of and Or is take holder,
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: and the lesson lies in one of the final scenes
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: of episode three where stintha who that has not heard
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: from it probably weeks at least at least weeks, if
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: not months, Cyntha drives him off and we're assuming that
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: he's dead. Right.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I because that was the thing. So like
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: Luthen and Man, like one of their last interactions is
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: Man tells Luthen, I'm going to get a number, like
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: just chill out, like we will. We will figure everything
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: out and everything will be fine. And then you just
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: they just separate. And at this point, I'm thinking Luthen
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: is now finding a way to kill this motherfucker, so
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: that way he keeps his mouth shut and.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Off.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: Yeah, as soon as I saw her, I was like,
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: oh no, he's he's not coming back to that party,
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: not at all. That that's that's the last time we
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: see him.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: Mel knows Vell did. Bell's actress did not say a
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: word in episode three, but she killed it. Yeah, Like
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: that is why acting is so important, is because acting
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: is a lot in your physical reactions to things. And
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: that's why AI will never take over for actors, is
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: because it doesn't ever capture that humanity, that betrayal of like, hey,
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: you're supposed to be my lover, my best friend, my partner,
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: and I haven't heard from you, but now you're here
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: because somebody else called you. Yep, and there's your there's
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: your LGBTQ representation here, because that's the relationship that we
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: all depended on in season one, the first time a
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: lesbian relationship has been put forward in Star Wars television
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: and really film. Let's be real, So who knows where
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: they're at in the relationship because that was the only
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: time we saw santhat the center Centtha I think as
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: senta Ye but yeah, so he's totally dead and mine
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: basically realizes that. In the conversation with Luthen, it ends
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: like seeing her dancing and like drunk off her butt
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: dancing her caresul like in correlation with Bix's scenes and
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: I'm not you could go back to that, but there's
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: also trigger boarding there, but that.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Paralysten this comes to my last comment, my last hot take,
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: but keep going, keep going.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: That parallel and seeing them juxtaposed together was wild to me,
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: and like, don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: of Hey, if you're hurt by this thing. It doesn't
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: matter if it's not on the same level. Like I
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: can still say, Okay, you were hurt by this, and
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: like you're terrified by this. But this is the beginning
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: of mine realizing hey, I'm in this. I have to
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: throw some punches.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Oh and yet like this, before I say my comment,
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: I need to remind people of what Adrian had said
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: in one of our conversations in dealing with the preparation
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: for and Or season two. He said that the Luthan
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: speech was overhyped and it wasn't worth it, and then he
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: went off to make these comments about Luthen, his character
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: and what he means the rebellion. And I know it's
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: a hot take because he was saying, hey, Luthen is
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: some rich dude who was also benefiting from this. Yes,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: he is a you know, we see him turn into
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: a cold killer near the end when he's like flying
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: that ship and he's actually like doing some actual damage
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: to the empire, like he's in it to win it
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: for the rebellion. We see that, But there is this
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: point of this persona that he still is until he
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: completely lets go of it, which might happen. I'm assuming
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: it's gonna happen within the season if he doesn't just die.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Of course, is like, hey, I'm benefitting on the side
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: for this because of this persona that I'm pursuing, right,
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: And my last comment here is like, hmm, I said, hm,
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: funny how all the white people get to party and
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: all the brown people get the fight to survive. This
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: is again a mirror to America, a mirror to the
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: world actually, and.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: This should be our final ad break. So y'all, thanks
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: And I understand people are gonna come to the defense
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: of man Mathma knowing Hey, she's going through the thick
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: of it. Like you said, this is her realization that,
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: oh shit, I am stuck? What do I do? This
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: is going to be the last time that I actually
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: get to feel something, So let me party my ass off.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Correction, not feel something.
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: Yes, same kind of difference. Yeah, And she she basically
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: is just trying to feel numb because she probably does
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: feel like shit. But the actual visualization of those two scenes,
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: they are very significant because it is telling you this story, Hey,
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Mon is fighting on the same side as Bis, but
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: she has the privilege of being able to do this,
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: while BIS has to do this.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: And that is the very harsh reality of this birth of.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: The tail of two planets exactly and a like it
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: definitely like hits you especially like comparatively to like where
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: I am versus even my sister, like in some cases
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: where like our two jobs make a difference in our
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: lives kind of thing. And that's what this is here
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: is Man as a senator is fully enabled with her
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: privilege in society to have this party and have this wedding,
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: still knowing that she's a member of the rebellion and
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: not every member of the rebellion is getting the same treatment.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: It is able to just go off. You see it
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: also with the Maya pay group the Cassian faces, like
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: those rebels have nothing, they don't have food, they don't
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: have water, like they literally left trying to do their
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: best to survive. And so juxtaposing mind mama's daughter's wedding
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: comparatively to everything else that's going on, it's a wild
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: but it really worked.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: I just want to make the comment wedding hikes hal no,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: hale no. If somebody were to tell me, hey, in
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: order to bury this person, you need to hike up
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: that mountain. Peace out. I'm sorry.
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: It was so.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: Funny, and I love Parent in this because Parent even
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: calls out, like what we're all thinking with Mon and Tay.
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: Parent's like, so he's your lover? Right?
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: It got real awkward? Okay, So again again the US
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: reading the Mask of Fear right us knowing that there
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: is at some point in this timeline going to be
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: a moment where Man Mathma has to basically confirm a
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: false accusation of a affair. This is really awkward. So
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I did make the comment. I did make the comment. Yes,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: that was a little eye rolling and annoying. Again, he
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: only can make the assumption due to the fact that
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: he is not knowing what the fuck is going on
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: and the very secretive like, hey, what's up with this?
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: But I did make the comment. Very by episode two,
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: Paren is a creep. He's a creep.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: I don't and I don't hate him as much as
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: I did in season one, especially after reading Mask Afear,
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: but Paren, especially when Man is dancing her heart away
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: in the closing minutes of episode three, Karen knows something's
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: going on, and so I'm wondering if he makes it
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: out alive.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: I would say, well, here's the thing. I would say no,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: because again, you look at Rogue one, you look at Ahsoka,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: you look at everything that we have of these moments
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: where mon manth but is there, and you can you
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: can make the argument of oh, he doesn't need to
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: be there because she is this big deal of the rebellion,
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: not him, right, and so you can make that argument.
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: But I would even go as far as to say
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: that maybe he does need to be there in those
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: in those instances because of what they've had to go through,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: you wouldn't think that, hey, he wouldn't be there. So
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: like so it does make me question if he's not there,
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: why is he dead or did he try to turn
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: her in?
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: My thought process is he may either die as part
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: of the Gorman massacre speech. He may die there or
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Mond herself has to put him down. Oh damn, I'm
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: putting that out. There's prediction because I feel like the
- 1:19:48Speaker 3: next arc is going to have a confrontation between the
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: two of them and they are not just going to
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: be able to beat around. Oh well, they're your friends,
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: so you put up with them kind of thing. Is
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: going to be a fight and they're gonna have to
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: figure each other out or one of them is going
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: to die trying, and we know that person has to
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: be Paren. Yeah, that's my prediction for the next Stark.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: I guess I.
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: Who I I would almost feel a little bit of
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: like finally if if she puts him down right, I'm.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: More likely I see him dying as part of the
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: Gorman massacre because we know in Rebels Mon makes it
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: out with her office staff and that's it. At that point,
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: we didn't know she had a husband. Yes, but I
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: have to Paren doesn't make it out of our three.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, clearly, it'll be very interesting to see how all
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: of this unfolds. But is there any last comments of
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: the overall story things.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: That you saw again? I just have to highlight the
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: Chandrilline wedding again. I really enjoyed that and getting to
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: hear Chandrillne language. Like we know, like most of these
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: planets have a language of their own, but getting to
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: hear that was really cool. I love Vix, I love Brosso.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: I'm so sad Brosso is not going to move forward
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: in the series. BIS has a lot of heart. Diego
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: Wunda killed it. I know we didn't talk about him
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: super much, but the piloting scenes space working with the pirates,
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: I love how he managed to escape.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: So yeah, I really like that. What did you.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Think of the new music guy?
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: I really liked the the music for these for these episodes.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: For me, I don't necessarily I wouldn't necessarily disagree, I
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: will say, and I don't know if this was just me.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: I felt like the music was overwriting some of the
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: language in parts. That's probably my biggest critique, but that
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: might have that's probably not even the music guy himself,
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: that's the editing department and the director. Yeah, I thought
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: he did a good job.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: I'm going to say, because I have this note in
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: episode three, glad to see more aliens, but there still
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: wasn't enough exactly. The only time that we do see
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: in any aliens in this season so far is when
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: Brazos is joining in on like breakfast with uh with uh. Yeah,
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: that was.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: The first time I noticed aliens. The second time I
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: noticed them was in like the dance scene. You don't
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: really see them in the wedding, but you do see
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: one guy he's hamming it up behind mine and a
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: lot of the shots, and I love that mon took shots.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: I would have never said was a shots girl. And
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: this should be our final ad break. So y'all, thanks
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be right back.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: Is this the first time we have heard electric dance
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: music in Star Wars?
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: You're asking the wrong person. I'm not a music person.
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: I thought it was kind of the same as like
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: job as Palace.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, this is this is a whole
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: new vibe.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: Maybe not Jaba's Palace Attack of the Clones, where like
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: they go into that club and just like guy, it's
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: the scene where like the guy's like, do you want
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: to buy some best sticks?
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah, uh yeah, I'll have to go back. I'll
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: have to go back and listen to the club music
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: because I think this might be like because they intentionally
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: made it, like, hey, this is a big deal. This
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: droid is gonna be the boom box and the freaking
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: uh disco ball looking thing.
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: I liked it. I think there's plenty of people out
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: there like there's a Star Wars blah blah blah. I
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: thought it was a very nice touch because you needed
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: that kind of thing for man Mathma to go as
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: wild as she did yea to to have that very
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: contrast between Bis and her. The other small notations that
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: I had in uh these three arcs are these three
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: episodes is the mention of the foundation uh from critic.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: Then I also had rock paper scissors to decide who wins,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: uh the kid with this with this rebellion group, I thought,
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I was like, are you fucking kidding me? Rock paper scissors?
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: Question mark? And then with four people, Yeah, that was
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: that was wild. Mon was so not into the wedding,
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: no at all. I can.
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: That she like tells Lida like, hey, you don't have
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: to do this, Like I am not forcing you to
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: do this by any chance. Leita feels like she has
- 1:26:23Speaker 3: to because she considers herself a traditionalist. And I feel
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: like that's very like gen Z right now, because gen
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Z is coming up with like very like traditional wife
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: aspects like the wife stays home and kind of like
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: falling into all that and everything. So I feel like
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: that was a parallel. There is like, yeah, but all
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: my friends are doing this, so I'm going to do
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: it too.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know where this line came from, but
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: apparently in episode one that there was a thirsty joke.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: So for anybody who missed it, I said, did they
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: just make a quote unquote thirsty joke?
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: That would have been when we first see Will's girlfriend? Okay, yeah,
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: on menraw because Bix and Will were out and that's
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: where they meet the lieutenant for the first time. And
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: so they're out at like a sprinkler basically fixing that
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: and the girlfriend comes out with water and that that's
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: probably where that was.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, so very you know a lot of firsts
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: for Star Wars here.
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: I don't hate. This was a very good arc. I
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: don't have a lot of critiques at all.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, no, neither do I cinematography was gorgeous. Like I said,
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: I I think one of my favorite scenes of this
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: entire three episodes is the chase scene in episode one.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Very very gorgeous. Yeah, I can't wait for next week again, guys,
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: this is where our normal episodes will be for the
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: time being. We will be moving back to Wednesday nights
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: falling on thursdays after and or. But of course you
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: can always find me at fanboy clay on Blue Sky, Instagram,
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: threads and TikTok and yeah, if you want to follow
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: my book journey, you can follow that currently right now
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: finished Batman Resurrections, reading Star Wars Leia currently. And also
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: I think this week I am starting the first book
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: of Wheel of Time, which is technically the prequel. I'm
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: moving to the prequel, not actually the first book, so
- 1:29:03Speaker 2: I might miss a lot of small nuances of the book,
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: but who cares.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: I have to re lay our Princess of Aldern and
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: then we can go ahead and knock that one off
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: the list. I'm just kidding. We'll see.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: But also I don't know if you're actually trying to
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: zoom through it, but knowing that you have Way of
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: the Kings from Libby for only a short amount of time,
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: God bless your soul for trying to finish that.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: I probably won't finish it. I think I have like
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: nine days left and I haven't touched it.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: At all exactly. Yeah, no, because I've had that. I've
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: had that book, the physical book, since the beginning of February,
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: and I'm only on like chapter nine, so out of
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: like eighty something shat I think, so it's it's it's
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: not great. Yeah, But Katie, what about you where I
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: can oh, well, first before I move it on to you.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: Of course, you can always follow Ranger Alliance as well.

- 1:30:27Speaker 2: one that came out last week and the one that's
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: coming up this week. So if you want to follow

- 1:30:55Speaker 3: have the phone number in front of me because I'm

- 1:30:58Speaker 3: can't read it. So Clay tell us the phone number
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: for where you actually leave his voicemail.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: Eight three zero five three eight four eight two eight.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Yes, So guys, as and Or is coming, I feel
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: free to shoot us reactions. We would love to read
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: your reactions, thoughts on the episode, questions on the episodes
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: each week and we'll respond as part of these live
