- 3:24Speaker 3: and gives you what you ask for. Let me ask
- 3:27Speaker 3: you a question. Have you ever heard the phrase something's
- 3:30Speaker 3: changed and some things stay the same. Well, tonight's guests
- 3:34Speaker 3: have some things that have changed since the last time
- 3:37Speaker 3: we spoke. That's right, she's back. Nicole S. Brown is
- 3:41Speaker 3: back on basics, back after doc. So let us know
- 3:45Speaker 3: what has changed.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Welcome Nicole, Hi, how are you?
- 3:55Speaker 3: I'm fine? How are you good?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Now?
- 3:58Speaker 3: You're looking good? And I love this.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Wow? Thank you.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Wow. So the last time we spoke, we talked about rumors, gossip,
- 4:08Speaker 3: being an ex mistress, the housing situation, and employment. Just
- 4:12Speaker 3: to mention a few of the things we spoke about.
- 4:14Speaker 3: For those of you who haven't followed us or mister interview,
- 4:18Speaker 3: shame on you. We had a three part mini series
- 4:21Speaker 3: with Nicole and Boy was inspite I see. But before
- 4:27Speaker 3: we get started, I want to ask you. I must
- 4:29Speaker 3: ask you, how's my boy doing?
- 4:32Speaker 4: He doing good?
- 4:33Speaker 2: He's quiet and down now since his show us back one.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So how's he handling some of the changes that have
- 4:41Speaker 3: been made.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Oh, he's handling there pretty well. I didn't think that
- 4:45Speaker 2: he was, but he's handling there pretty well.
- 4:50Speaker 3: And what about you.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I'm hanging in there day by day. I'm taking it
- 4:56Speaker 2: one day at a time.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And that's what you can do. Now from the last
- 5:00Speaker 3: time we spoke with the mini series, let me ask you,
- 5:03Speaker 3: what was your favorite episode of the mini series Part
- 5:06Speaker 3: one or.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Three, part three? Because I was able to explain it all.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Wow. So have you been getting any feedback, party feedback
- 5:17Speaker 3: from any of the episodes?
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yes, I have, Yes, a lot. I've gotten quite a
- 5:24Speaker 2: few book sales behind it or book more, more five
- 5:30Speaker 2: star book reviews that were international, and more people in
- 5:34Speaker 2: my d ms Hello u Yama's four uh more people
- 5:42Speaker 2: in my d ms giving me props about my books.
- 5:49Speaker 2: People from all.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Over the world. But that's but I'm so glad that
- 5:58Speaker 3: we were able to you know, don't speak with you
- 6:01Speaker 3: to be able to do that mini series, and it
- 6:03Speaker 3: was the first for me, but I enjoyed it. I
- 6:07Speaker 3: found out a lot of information that I hadn't expected
- 6:10Speaker 3: to find out, and my heart went out to you.
- 6:13Speaker 3: With many of the stories and a lot of your
- 6:16Speaker 3: background that I don't think many people have known or
- 6:19Speaker 3: have wanted to know, to give you a fair chance
- 6:23Speaker 3: to be able to tell your part of the story,
- 6:26Speaker 3: to let people know exactly what has happened, and to
- 6:31Speaker 3: see you for who you really are, because I've gotten
- 6:33Speaker 3: to know you, and I think that you're a very
- 6:36Speaker 3: special young lady. So I'm very happy to have met you.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I'm very happy to have done the interview. I've heard
- 6:44Speaker 3: a lot about the book What Dreams, and it was
- 6:47Speaker 3: something that I definitely wanted to know more about. But
- 6:49Speaker 3: then I see that you've written other books as well,
- 6:52Speaker 3: So I said, you really just don't know where to start,
- 6:54Speaker 3: you know, because it just seems like it just keeps
- 6:56Speaker 3: going on and on and on. But I gathered from
- 6:59Speaker 3: our commerce last night that a few things have changed.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Tell me what has changed.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Well, my housing situation has changed, my employment situation is
- 7:10Speaker 2: still it is different. I don't have a job anymore
- 7:16Speaker 2: at the time, and then I got some jobs, and
- 7:19Speaker 2: then some numbers got switched around and they couldn't get
- 7:23Speaker 2: me on. And then when I got on the Greyhound
- 7:25Speaker 2: bus to come back to my hometown, then they wanted
- 7:28Speaker 2: to hire me, but it was kind of too late.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So I'm searching here in my hometown, and you know,
- 7:36Speaker 2: chances are variously because the job market is not very
- 7:40Speaker 2: good here. But I'm getting a lot of offers from
- 7:44Speaker 2: people with promotions and such, and I'm thinking my books
- 7:48Speaker 2: are gonna take off. I'm really believing that more than
- 7:56Speaker 2: the more than the job situation. And because I went
- 8:00Speaker 2: on a lot of job interviews and they were looking
- 8:03Speaker 2: at me like I was overqualified. And I'm a teacher,
- 8:06Speaker 2: you know, and I have certifications. I do have certifications
- 8:11Speaker 2: out of the wazoo, and I do have my administrative license,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and I do have books. But it doesn't mean that
- 8:18Speaker 2: I don't need a job right right.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Well, I'm wishing in hope you with that. I'm pretty
- 8:27Speaker 3: sure that something's gonna come through for you. You had
- 8:30Speaker 3: mentioned that what I had mentioned to you, that a
- 8:32Speaker 3: few things have changed. Do you think that people can change?
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that people can change, and I just
- 8:41Speaker 2: really thought, well, one particular person, I'm thinking that they
- 8:48Speaker 2: are changing because but I really don't want to overjump
- 8:54Speaker 2: before you even mentioned it. Particular individual.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Okay, got a feeling. I know where that one is going.
- 9:03Speaker 3: So we're gonna get into that one a little bit later.
- 9:06Speaker 3: So do you believe that everything happens for a reason.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe that everything happens for a reason, and
- 9:14Speaker 2: everything is a teachable moment and within our life.
- 9:19Speaker 3: So what have you learned from from all of this
- 9:21Speaker 3: so far?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Not to judge a book by this cover. And everybody
- 9:28Speaker 2: just everybody has some good in them, even though they
- 9:31Speaker 2: may be have maybe bad may do bad things, everybody
- 9:36Speaker 2: has some good in them.
- 9:40Speaker 3: So you said you was back in your hometown. Are
- 9:43Speaker 3: you back with family?
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yes, I'm staying with my mom and my sister.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Oh wow, oh wow.
- 9:49Speaker 5: So the relationship has changed then, Yeah, We're not at
- 9:56Speaker 5: each other's backs, you know, at each other nick anymore.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It was a bad situation when I left to go
- 10:03Speaker 2: to Baton Rouge. Uh, I just packed my things up
- 10:08Speaker 2: and just will because I was just tired of, you know,
- 10:11Speaker 2: constant back biting. But it's better now. I don't know,
- 10:16Speaker 2: for how long? Keep my fingers crossed.
- 10:18Speaker 3: No, we're gonna, We're gonna, we're gonna claim it. We're
- 10:20Speaker 3: not gonna stay for how long. It's a permanent. Then
- 10:22Speaker 3: you're back home with your family, and that's where you
- 10:26Speaker 3: may need to be. You know, families, when you get
- 10:30Speaker 3: into situations, sometimes they're ones that know you the best,
- 10:36Speaker 3: and those are the ones that you may be able
- 10:38Speaker 3: to lean on when certain things happen. You know. So
- 10:43Speaker 3: I'm happy that you're you're back home. I see smile
- 10:46Speaker 3: on your face that I hadn't seen before, So something's
- 10:50Speaker 3: working in the atmosphere somewhere along the line. And then
- 10:54Speaker 3: what's important to me, and I'm quite sure it's important
- 10:56Speaker 3: to you, is that my little man is happy.
- 10:59Speaker 2: So that makes he really is.
- 11:05Speaker 3: So are you still writing? And it's so it is
- 11:08Speaker 3: a sequel coming to what dreams? Something we should prepare for.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Yes, I'm still writing. I write a little bit every day.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Sometimes I take a little break and write every other day,
- 11:20Speaker 2: but or sometimes I may take two or three days
- 11:24Speaker 2: and don't write it all, and then you know, have
- 11:27Speaker 2: a whole bunch of writing, you know, a big writing
- 11:31Speaker 2: spurt in one day because one day. One time, I
- 11:34Speaker 2: didn't go I went away. It went like three or
- 11:37Speaker 2: four days without writing, and I wrote fifteen pages in
- 11:41Speaker 2: one day. So it depends on how the day is.
- 11:46Speaker 2: If you know we're writing, I am.
- 11:52Speaker 3: That's again. How many books do you?
- 11:55Speaker 2: I have fifteen now, but I'm working on a nutherling.
- 11:59Speaker 2: I'm working on a sequel to Wet Dreams. And I'm
- 12:03Speaker 2: working on a sequel, not a sequel. But I don't
- 12:09Speaker 2: even know what to colleague because quadrupule. I don't know,
- 12:15Speaker 2: because this one would be like a fourth book in
- 12:17Speaker 2: a series, and.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Then that's what it will probably be. A series.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm working on whatever you want it to be. Yeah,
- 12:27Speaker 2: I'm working on a fourth book in a series and
- 12:29Speaker 2: another third book in a series. So I'm working on
- 12:32Speaker 2: three books at one time. But I'm working on now
- 12:35Speaker 2: with Dreams, the sequel to Wet Dreams, by no later
- 12:39Speaker 2: than November, the end of November.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Have you ever thought that you're saying that you're looking
- 12:46Speaker 3: for work, but you may have already found your niche
- 12:49Speaker 3: where writing could be your job. Some people say, well,
- 12:53Speaker 3: I just want to write, and I'm going to be
- 12:55Speaker 3: a famous writer, inspiring authors because he says, stay folks,
- 13:01Speaker 3: just and learn how to love you more? Wow? Really
- 13:08Speaker 3: nice love it. Have you ever thought that though, that
- 13:11Speaker 3: that might be what you need to do? It just
- 13:13Speaker 3: keeps pulling me back into it.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but I look at the money and I because,
- 13:20Speaker 2: like I looked at the money today on my royalty account,
- 13:24Speaker 2: and I'm like, at all these years I've been writing,
- 13:27Speaker 2: only made this much.
- 13:30Speaker 3: But like they say, ron wasn't just built in today. Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 3: and it may just take that one thing that that
- 13:41Speaker 3: to the part. Have you even thought or considered using
- 13:44Speaker 3: wet dreams and making it into a movie, doing some
- 13:47Speaker 3: trailers and and things like that.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody talked to me about that. A guy in
- 13:55Speaker 2: India talked to me about that. And speaking of India,
- 14:04Speaker 2: I was chosen to be write an article about mental
- 14:08Speaker 2: health in a journal this week and they made the
- 14:15Speaker 2: They already made the flyer and everything. I showed my
- 14:19Speaker 2: mom this morning and I haven't even written an article yet.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Did you see what was written just now for you?
- 14:25Speaker 3: It says build your brand, baby, you are your brand.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yes, I see that.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You're getting. I'm feeling these vibes that are just positive
- 14:37Speaker 3: that's just coming into you, you know, you're telling me
- 14:40Speaker 3: about some of the positive things that it's happened, and
- 14:43Speaker 3: I just feel as though there's gonna be greatness coming
- 14:46Speaker 3: your way. I just want you to be prepared for
- 14:49Speaker 3: it when it comes, because I got a feeling that
- 14:51Speaker 3: it's gonna come and it's gonna come strong. You know,
- 14:54Speaker 3: I honestly feel that, and I'm feeling it in my guy.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Outside of your writing, what are your hobbies?
- 15:00Speaker 2: My hobbies are. I like to sing, I like to
- 15:05Speaker 2: cook and bake. I like to put together outfits and stuff.
- 15:11Speaker 2: So I like fashion and I like going on, yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 2: spending time with my kids. Interior decorating, like decorating for
- 15:25Speaker 2: parties and stuff like that.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Well, from what I read. From what I read, that's
- 15:33Speaker 3: how Kim Kardashi ain't got started. She was going into
- 15:37Speaker 3: some people's closet and turning their closets around, fixing the
- 15:43Speaker 3: closets up, and she wind up doing their styles in
- 15:48Speaker 3: their closets. Turning around. You see some of these beautiful
- 15:50Speaker 3: closets of a lot of these celebrities, and that's something
- 15:54Speaker 3: that you're into. You you never know. You said you
- 15:56Speaker 3: like to decorate, You never know. You may do some
- 15:58Speaker 3: parties decorate halls for people's birthday parties or reunions or something.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Put yourself out there. You have to because that's the
- 16:06Speaker 3: only way people are gonna know who you are. If
- 16:08Speaker 3: you need a coach. Coach Queen Angela is amazing, and
- 16:12Speaker 3: yes she is, so I went check into Angela. She
- 16:16Speaker 3: is amazing. She can coach you through that. She's coached
- 16:19Speaker 3: several people through a lot. And I would I would
- 16:23Speaker 3: take up on that. You got these offers coming in.
- 16:25Speaker 3: You said it, you said you have office.
- 16:29Speaker 2: A lot coming in. I do have a lot of
- 16:32Speaker 2: offers coming in. And I wanted to piggyback on my
- 16:36Speaker 2: write And I had never heard a guy from New
- 16:39Speaker 2: York and said that had compared me to May Angelo,
- 16:43Speaker 2: And I was like, wow, you know, I never thought
- 16:46Speaker 2: that I could be compared to her because you know,
- 16:50Speaker 2: she could write about anything, and I have a lot
- 16:53Speaker 2: of writing about a lot of stuff too, And.
- 16:56Speaker 3: That's a compliment in itself.
- 17:00Speaker 2: And she's from the South.
- 17:04Speaker 3: What what do you think sets you apart from other writers? Uh?
- 17:10Speaker 2: I think because I can write about a lot of
- 17:14Speaker 2: different topics, you know, I can. You know, somebody can
- 17:20Speaker 2: give me a topic and I can write it, write
- 17:23Speaker 2: it right. Then some people can't just write from a
- 17:27Speaker 2: writing prompt. I can a lot quicker than some others,
- 17:33Speaker 2: so you can.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Go into different genres and without a problem.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I believe it's why Hamas who says, don't give up,
- 17:45Speaker 3: keep pushing.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom even complimented on me on my writing
- 17:52Speaker 2: for for for now, and I can't believe it. She
- 17:55Speaker 2: said it to to somebody, somebody on the phone.
- 18:03Speaker 3: You heard that, And it's in the cards for things
- 18:08Speaker 3: to start changing for you. You know. I think people
- 18:12Speaker 3: are seeing you for who you really are, but you
- 18:16Speaker 3: need to see you for who you really are. Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 3: And once that happens, it's gonna be no turning back.
- 18:26Speaker 3: They're gonna just keep going forward and it's just gonna
- 18:30Speaker 3: be such an amazing feeling. But to have your mom
- 18:33Speaker 3: compliment your writing, I know that sent you over the moon.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yeah, because she don't read a lot about stuff. But
- 18:41Speaker 2: it's one particular poem that the whole family liked and
- 18:44Speaker 2: the whole church like that. I wrote for my dad
- 18:49Speaker 2: when he passed away and how old to a true
- 18:51Speaker 2: sportsman that they really wanted to put it on his headstone,
- 18:55Speaker 2: but they couldn't put it on there because it was
- 18:57Speaker 2: too long, but they is in my book, one of
- 19:02Speaker 2: my books, More many more school days, holidays and all
- 19:06Speaker 2: days a lot between and under the poem, I have
- 19:09Speaker 2: you know who it was dedicated to.
- 19:13Speaker 3: When you see you got, you got people that's backing you.
- 19:16Speaker 3: I feel as though people who are starting to learn
- 19:20Speaker 3: more of what has been going on in your life
- 19:23Speaker 3: or starting to look at it for what it really is,
- 19:27Speaker 3: and it's starting to understand you know, what happened because
- 19:32Speaker 3: it was able to tell your truth, and that's important
- 19:36Speaker 3: when people give you the opportunity to tell your truth
- 19:38Speaker 3: about things that are going on in your life. And
- 19:42Speaker 3: you just seem to be in a different headspace now,
- 19:47Speaker 3: and I'm just really happy for you. You know, it's showing
- 19:50Speaker 3: in your son because I hear him in the background
- 19:52Speaker 3: at times when we're talking, and he just seems to
- 19:55Speaker 3: be in a different space because I think he's pulling
- 19:59Speaker 3: off of your and your energy is showing that you're
- 20:03Speaker 3: a little happier than you were before. And it may
- 20:08Speaker 3: have to do with you being back home with your
- 20:10Speaker 3: family and and them again for them seeing you who
- 20:14Speaker 3: you are and them knowing that that's when you are
- 20:17Speaker 3: all along. It's just that you had to come to
- 20:21Speaker 3: grit with who you are, not with who you think
- 20:24Speaker 3: people think you are. If that makes sense. I hope
- 20:26Speaker 3: that makes sense because it sounds anyway. So just keep it,
- 20:33Speaker 3: Just keep embracing yourself. Just keep embracing yourself, because that's
- 20:39Speaker 3: you're your number one cheerleader. And I know your family
- 20:43Speaker 3: is there supporting you, and that's a wonderful thing. You
- 20:46Speaker 3: mentioned your daughter, you mentioned your mom, you know, and
- 20:50Speaker 3: and how happy and comfortable your son seems to be
- 20:54Speaker 3: taken from there and it's baby steps.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, my family didn't know a lot of this still
- 21:00Speaker 2: that was going on for a while, and you know,
- 21:02Speaker 2: I had to seek help in this situation. And being
- 21:07Speaker 2: that I sought help in a situation, I was able
- 21:10Speaker 2: to be more verbal with my family about what had
- 21:14Speaker 2: went on, and it's helping me in the yellow process.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Oh, you just you just look like you're glowing. You know,
- 21:24Speaker 3: you look like you're glowing because you just seem to
- 21:27Speaker 3: be happier than I've ever seen you. And it's I've
- 21:32Speaker 3: been knowing you for a little bit now, and it's
- 21:35Speaker 3: just it's just shown in your eyes and it's showing
- 21:38Speaker 3: and it just seems like you're more relaxed now. So
- 21:42Speaker 3: whatever transition you went through, I ain't happy for you
- 21:47Speaker 3: that you was able to go through that transition and
- 21:50Speaker 3: be reunited with your family. So that's that's just simply amazing.
- 21:57Speaker 3: What we're gonna do is we're gonna take a commercial
- 21:59Speaker 3: break and when we come back, we're going to continue
- 22:01Speaker 3: to talk with Nicole and we're going to just do
- 22:03Speaker 3: a little girl talk. We're just gonna catch up with
- 22:05Speaker 3: each other. Okay, Well we can keep it moving until
- 22:31Speaker 3: they can pull a commercial together. I well just keep
- 22:36Speaker 3: going through it. So during the mini series, you mentioned
- 22:39Speaker 3: you've gotten a point to a point where you didn't
- 22:42Speaker 3: recognize who you have become. How are you feeling about
- 22:46Speaker 3: that statement now that you feel as though you didn't
- 22:48Speaker 3: recognize who you've become, and then who are you now?
- 22:54Speaker 2: Well? I didn't recognize who I had become because you know,
- 23:00Speaker 2: well it just happened so quickly, and I wasn't planning
- 23:06Speaker 2: on it for you know, to end up me to
- 23:09Speaker 2: end up that way. And I see myself as different now.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I see myself as a dibbeted a rough, you know,
- 23:17Speaker 2: going from going up from a rough place ending up
- 23:22Speaker 2: to being someone successful.
- 23:29Speaker 3: I think that you're going to be very successful. I
- 23:31Speaker 3: don't want you to keep doubt on inside. Oh and
- 23:35Speaker 3: don't let nobody take your spirit from you, you know,
- 23:39Speaker 3: no matter what, don't let anybody speak who you know
- 23:43Speaker 3: you are, no matter what they say, no matter what
- 23:47Speaker 3: they do. You know what direction you're going in, and
- 23:51Speaker 3: you know what's ahead of you. You got these offers
- 23:55Speaker 3: coming in now, you know, and it's probably getting to
- 23:59Speaker 3: the point where you gonna have to decide which way
- 24:02Speaker 3: you want to go.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, they're just.
- 24:13Speaker 3: You may need like a PR person or some kind
- 24:15Speaker 3: of rep to to help you sort that out. And
- 24:18Speaker 3: you just had an offer with Coach Angela, So that
- 24:21Speaker 3: may be some direction. Because she's she's worldwide, she's all
- 24:24Speaker 3: over the place. And when I say that, I say
- 24:26Speaker 3: it in a good way that she has the connections
- 24:31Speaker 3: that you may need to get you into the direction
- 24:34Speaker 3: that you want to be in. So that might be
- 24:37Speaker 3: something that you may want to check out. You already
- 24:40Speaker 3: do your publishing. I think that you had spoken with
- 24:43Speaker 3: a couple of my co sisters and podcasters and been
- 24:48Speaker 3: on this show, and I sometimes I just click on
- 24:51Speaker 3: and I see your face just going across the screen
- 24:53Speaker 3: that you're on somebody else's show. So people are hearing
- 24:56Speaker 3: about you, they're hearing your story, they're reading your books,
- 25:02Speaker 3: and that's just that's a wonderful thing. I'm curious stuff.
- 25:06Speaker 3: How do you start your day and what do you
- 25:08Speaker 3: do to relax and unwine.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I get up and I listen to some music and
- 25:15Speaker 2: read a little bit from my Bible or devotional or
- 25:19Speaker 2: something or the verse of the day. And I have
- 25:24Speaker 2: me I don't drink coffee, so I have like some
- 25:28Speaker 2: juice or I know it's bad, but I have me
- 25:32Speaker 2: a coke or some water or something like that with lemon,
- 25:37Speaker 2: and I read a little bit. I wind get my
- 25:43Speaker 2: son ready for school, and do some light cleaning, and
- 25:48Speaker 2: then after that I try to sit, sit and write
- 25:55Speaker 2: and if not, if I can't get that done, then
- 25:57Speaker 2: I go for a walk. So I really been doing
- 26:00Speaker 2: a lot of walking lately. That's probably why you see
- 26:03Speaker 2: the glow, because I've lost forty pounds and walk twice
- 26:11Speaker 2: a day.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Anything, anybody, what do you admire most about yourself?
- 26:25Speaker 2: I like the writing because it's therapeutic and you know,
- 26:31Speaker 2: I can really let myself go in the writing you know,
- 26:35Speaker 2: I can really let loose.
- 26:39Speaker 3: You admire that you can let loose with it. Now,
- 26:41Speaker 3: when when I hear writers saying that they let I
- 26:46Speaker 3: won't hear right and saying that they let loose. Does
- 26:49Speaker 3: that mean that you just go to another place with it?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, wow.
- 26:59Speaker 3: So's that's how wet Dreams came about, where you just.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Some of them some of them was real, and then
- 27:08Speaker 2: some of it, you know, was fantasy. And like I said, yeah, well.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I'm not gonna take you back there, and I'm not
- 27:15Speaker 3: gonna take these people. They're gonna have to look at
- 27:17Speaker 3: the mini series to see what was going on in
- 27:20Speaker 3: wet Treets were better than that. They need to buy
- 27:23Speaker 3: the book by the book, and then you know why
- 27:26Speaker 3: we're sitting here laughing, buy that book, O congratulations. See
- 27:36Speaker 3: they may not be the way you want them to
- 27:38Speaker 3: be moving.
- 27:43Speaker 2: And he said in the in the book and and
- 27:46Speaker 2: the review that every line gave him a bodily sensation.
- 27:51Speaker 3: And this is what dreams you talk about.
- 27:53Speaker 6: Uh huh, Bodily said, I bet you we did. I
- 28:02Speaker 6: hope you can feel thisself off. I swear I hope
- 28:07Speaker 6: you can feel hisself off the floor. I'm not sure
- 28:10Speaker 6: whether this gentleman is married or that, but.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Hey, they give him a second thought. That's wonderful that
- 28:21Speaker 3: you were. You're being appreciated, being acknowledged, and you're being recognized,
- 28:29Speaker 3: and it's your time. It's your time to know that
- 28:34Speaker 3: it's your time. Don't let nobody take that from you.
- 28:36Speaker 3: You don't have to go stepping backwards. You know some
- 28:39Speaker 3: people say that they take two steps forward and then
- 28:42Speaker 3: they have to take one step back. You're not walking backwards.
- 28:45Speaker 3: You're gonna keep walking forward. But you're gonna keep walking forward.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Question for you, have you heard from your exalk about
- 29:00Speaker 3: what dreams?
- 29:04Speaker 2: I haven't had.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I take that as a yes.
- 29:08Speaker 2: But there.
- 29:12Speaker 3: They're going to try to go there. But now that
- 29:13Speaker 3: you're gonna open up Pandor in his box, you seen him?
- 29:16Speaker 3: Have you guys had a conversation.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Mm hmmm mm hmmm.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Well stay focused, stay focused. And I think somebody else
- 29:26Speaker 3: had mentioned that tonight to stay focused. Things are working
- 29:30Speaker 3: out for you. Sometimes some people are miserable in their
- 29:35Speaker 3: own tracks and they haven't evolved yet, and then self
- 29:44Speaker 3: worth is not where they thought it could have been
- 29:47Speaker 3: or should be. And then some people like to drag
- 29:50Speaker 3: people down with them.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Well, yeah, he's not doing as well as he was
- 29:57Speaker 2: when we were together.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Well, that's not your place to pick him up.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not.
- 30:05Speaker 3: You know, it's not your place to pick him up.
- 30:08Speaker 3: And I don't know this, gentleman. I'm not gonna sit
- 30:10Speaker 3: there and say anything bad about him or what has
- 30:13Speaker 3: transpired between the two of you. But he may need
- 30:17Speaker 3: to soul search himself to get to where he wants
- 30:20Speaker 3: to be. So that's all I'm gonna say about him.
- 30:26Speaker 3: But let me ask you this now. I ask you,
- 30:28Speaker 3: have you heard from your ex? But are you still single?
- 30:31Speaker 3: Are you dating? Is this somebody special that you're thinking about.
- 30:35Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 30:38Speaker 2: I'm single, but I have friends.
- 30:45Speaker 3: I know what that means. But that's good.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah I have friends.
- 30:56Speaker 3: And I'm glad to hear that, because he is at
- 30:58Speaker 3: a space one time where was looking a little uncomfortable
- 31:02Speaker 3: for you with people who you said were your so
- 31:06Speaker 3: called friends. But I think that they're starting to see
- 31:11Speaker 3: the truth. They're starting to understand that any one of us,
- 31:18Speaker 3: male or female, could have been caught in an entanglement,
- 31:24Speaker 3: whether it was an intentional or not. Anybody can get
- 31:28Speaker 3: caught in an entanglement. The heart loves who the heart loves,
- 31:32Speaker 3: but we just have to learn to control some of
- 31:35Speaker 3: our emotions. And that was something that you will grow
- 31:40Speaker 3: from and hopefully this young man will grow from it
- 31:42Speaker 3: as well. And if he is married, I hope and
- 31:46Speaker 3: wish the best for him and in his family, just
- 31:50Speaker 3: like I wish the best for you and yours. So
- 31:55Speaker 3: what type of man you're interested in having a relationship with?
- 32:00Speaker 2: Oh, someone nice?
- 32:05Speaker 3: Watching someone nice, and mister Wright might be watching.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah, someone good. Someone He don't have to be rich,
- 32:17Speaker 2: but it won't hurt. A good provider, a good protector,
- 32:23Speaker 2: a good advisor, somebody that's fun. He gotta be all
- 32:27Speaker 2: that good looking. He can be a little bit, you know.
- 32:31Speaker 2: He ain't gotta be totally hands on, but it would
- 32:34Speaker 2: be nice if he was handsled.
- 32:36Speaker 3: So okay, So who's your celebrity crush?
- 32:42Speaker 2: Really? You want me to tell you Eldress?
- 32:46Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, look a nice looking man. And there's a
- 32:53Speaker 3: lot of women that feels the same way.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Mm hmmm, a.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Lot of women that feel he may take it as
- 32:59Speaker 3: a compliment.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and my old my old school man crushes Al Green.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Okay, mm hmmm. As well, you know, people love people
- 33:14Speaker 3: for different reasons. There's a difference in the type of
- 33:17Speaker 3: man there, so that tells you where you're at. You know,
- 33:21Speaker 3: from al Green to Interest album, one is a singer
- 33:24Speaker 3: and one is an actor. I don't believe that interesting
- 33:28Speaker 3: thing he might be able to I'm not sure, but
- 33:32Speaker 3: that's a variety in between those two. So you know,
- 33:35Speaker 3: whatever makes you happy is what's important, and that's what's important.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Whatever makes you happy. What are you most excited about
- 33:45Speaker 3: right now?
- 33:47Speaker 2: Well, I'm excited about my son going back to school
- 33:50Speaker 2: so I could have a break so I can do
- 33:54Speaker 2: a little bit more write it. But no, to be honest,
- 33:57Speaker 2: I'm excited about all of these offers that I'm getting
- 34:01Speaker 2: because they're coming out the wazus and like I could
- 34:06Speaker 2: hardly keep up. I can barely keep up.
- 34:10Speaker 7: I like telling them not yet, not yet, not yet,
- 34:13Speaker 7: not yet, you know, or not at this time, or
- 34:17Speaker 7: let me research your your your.
- 34:22Speaker 2: Samples and all of it, because I just don't want
- 34:24Speaker 2: to jump into anything. And they may not have a
- 34:27Speaker 2: good rating from their people that they promote. So I
- 34:33Speaker 2: wanted to do. I want to it is.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Let's call it where there's some of them may not
- 34:38Speaker 3: be who they say they are. Yeah, you know, some
- 34:41Speaker 3: of them may want to get a hold of your
- 34:45Speaker 3: creation and make it there, So be mindful when you
- 34:49Speaker 3: are talking to some of these individuals. Get get an
- 34:53Speaker 3: attorney to read any forms and contracts, because once you
- 34:59Speaker 3: sign it, you could be and over everything that you
- 35:01Speaker 3: have and even future things. So you have to be
- 35:05Speaker 3: mindful of what you're doing. So it would probably be
- 35:08Speaker 3: best if you get somebody to coach you that's been
- 35:11Speaker 3: in the game for a period of time. I think
- 35:14Speaker 3: Miss Angela has over one hundred books and she's been
- 35:17Speaker 3: added for a period of time, so I believe she's
- 35:20Speaker 3: somebody that definitely knows what she's talking about and she
- 35:24Speaker 3: can more than likely connect you with different people, you know,
- 35:29Speaker 3: So she's put herself out there to let you know
- 35:32Speaker 3: that she's willing to coach you. So that might be
- 35:36Speaker 3: somebody that you may want to take up on that offer.
- 35:39Speaker 3: And that's another offer for you, you know, because sometimes
- 35:43Speaker 3: people when they're vulnerable and they try to go after them.
- 35:48Speaker 3: So that's when they come in like sharks. I'm gonna
- 35:52Speaker 3: be honest. They come in like sharks, and then once
- 35:56Speaker 3: they have you, they have you. You sign a contract
- 35:59Speaker 3: with them, you can be indebt to them for the
- 36:02Speaker 3: next ten years and won't see a dime of royalty
- 36:05Speaker 3: they do you don't, so be mindful before you sign
- 36:09Speaker 3: any contracts, make any agreements. You're doing the right thing
- 36:13Speaker 3: by looking through things and following up, seeing who they are,
- 36:18Speaker 3: seeing what's about them. But they can doctor certain things
- 36:22Speaker 3: to make things look like something that it's not. Do
- 36:28Speaker 3: you have any regrets in life?
- 36:35Speaker 2: I kind of regret that I didn't that I didn't
- 36:41Speaker 2: stay in Baton Rouge when I left fourteen years ago,
- 36:45Speaker 2: because so much has changed. But still I still remember
- 36:49Speaker 2: the place, and I really want to go back when
- 36:52Speaker 2: things get better from me because I like living there.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Yeah, something just like looking into just.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Yes he did, Yes he did?
- 37:06Speaker 3: That could be a place.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Did you write Inton, I wrote seven books when I
- 37:13Speaker 2: in one year when I was living there. I had
- 37:17Speaker 2: a lot of creative energy there. Mm hmm.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Did you feel as though that you were more at
- 37:23Speaker 3: peace while you.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Were there, Yeah, because I had a lot more to do.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I had a lot more to do with my kids.
- 37:34Speaker 2: You know, it wasn't like this place is small and
- 37:39Speaker 2: everybody knows everybody, and you know, it was just a
- 37:47Speaker 2: little bit more wide open, and it was closer to
- 37:50Speaker 2: New Orleans where I could do open mics and such.
- 37:54Speaker 2: And see here there's not an opportunity to do many
- 37:59Speaker 2: open mics. And what I used to do when I
- 38:03Speaker 2: lived in bad Ruge was go to New Orleans to
- 38:07Speaker 2: to do my poetry and stuff like that. So and
- 38:12Speaker 2: I was doing it a lot, and that's what inspired
- 38:15Speaker 2: me to write books.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Doing the open mics, you were able to walk it
- 38:21Speaker 3: yourself a little bit more there than you are in
- 38:23Speaker 3: the town that you're in now. Right, Is there any
- 38:28Speaker 3: day for you to continue with those connections that you
- 38:31Speaker 3: that you had there?
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yes, with the Internet and Instagram, social media as such.
- 38:41Speaker 3: What about travel, would you be able to travel?
- 38:45Speaker 2: Probably not now, but pretty soon I probably will be.
- 38:53Speaker 2: M I'm supposed to be to bad and Rouge for
- 38:58Speaker 2: a Labor Day weekend, and maybe me and my sister
- 39:01Speaker 2: will go to New Orleans for open NC nineteen.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Has she ever had your family ever been to any
- 39:08Speaker 3: of your open mic nights?
- 39:10Speaker 2: No, they ain't never heard of none of my stuff.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Traveling with sister now to see you. Is she your
- 39:18Speaker 3: younger sister or older sister?
- 39:20Speaker 2: She's the older I'm the youngest, so she probably gonna
- 39:23Speaker 2: be like, oh wow, my sister. He'll say this.
- 39:29Speaker 3: That should be if you guys take a trip.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And she's gonna be sitting.
- 39:34Speaker 3: In there audience this as proud as she want to be,
- 39:36Speaker 3: her little sister sitting there. What do they call that spitting?
- 39:40Speaker 3: Is that what they call it when it's open? Yes, Hey,
- 39:44Speaker 3: she's gonna see her baby sister up there in the
- 39:48Speaker 3: trip for both of you may just do you both well?
- 39:51Speaker 2: Knowing her crazy self, she'll get up there and start singing.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Well, didn't that You know what? That's a connection that
- 39:59Speaker 3: you and her will have together.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll both.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And enjoy the trip, have something to laugh about, things
- 40:09Speaker 3: to talk about. That's the beginning for both of you.
- 40:14Speaker 3: And I see that.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that she liked the most. Methane and money.
- 40:21Speaker 3: None say it again.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Methane and monkey nuts. I want a contest with that poem.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Now what does that mean?
- 40:31Speaker 2: Methane it's the key component and flatulence and monkey nuts
- 40:39Speaker 2: is think about it.
- 40:42Speaker 3: I'm trying to changing the subject. Now, I changed the
- 40:47Speaker 3: subject for all that you've been through. I asked, and
- 40:53Speaker 3: that's what I get. That's exactly what I get for
- 40:55Speaker 3: accent from all.
- 40:57Speaker 6: That you've been through, Look with a title like that,
- 41:02Speaker 6: I don't doubt that you.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Wouldn't win that contest. I guess kudos to you for
- 41:10Speaker 3: coming up with that. Speaking of coming up, have you
- 41:15Speaker 3: come up with a name for your next book?
- 41:19Speaker 2: I've narrowed down to three different titles, but I haven't
- 41:24Speaker 2: I haven't picked one yet, and I have a poll
- 41:28Speaker 2: on my Instagram and my LinkedIn pages for people to
- 41:33Speaker 2: help me choose. It's either wetter dreams more wet dreams
- 41:40Speaker 2: to come or wet dreams come true.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Do your poll allow people to make suggestions? Okay, Okay,
- 41:54Speaker 3: so that's before you too. Wow, it was a great
- 41:58Speaker 3: idea from all that you've been through. What are the
- 42:03Speaker 3: three takeaways from your experiences?
- 42:08Speaker 2: Always let people know how you feel about a person
- 42:12Speaker 2: you know, don't wait, don't hold it in you know,
- 42:16Speaker 2: don't hold it in your feelings you know about situations,
- 42:21Speaker 2: because it could really come back to do you a
- 42:24Speaker 2: lot of harm. And I did a lot of it.
- 42:28Speaker 2: I did a lot of internalize and how I felt
- 42:31Speaker 2: about different things, and I probably shouldn't have because it
- 42:37Speaker 2: ate me up in a long run. So that's one
- 42:40Speaker 2: thing I regret doing, and I not plan on not
- 42:44Speaker 2: doing it anymore because I'm the type of person that
- 42:48Speaker 2: don't really like conflict. I really never did, and I
- 42:53Speaker 2: kind of do anything to keep the peace, you know,
- 43:00Speaker 2: even if it hurt my feelings. I'll do anything to
- 43:04Speaker 2: keep the peace. And I learned better. I'm learning better
- 43:07Speaker 2: not to do that.
- 43:11Speaker 3: From the time that I met you to now, I
- 43:13Speaker 3: see growth in you, I honestly do. I see that
- 43:19Speaker 3: you seem to be a little bit more relaxed, a
- 43:23Speaker 3: lot more patient with yourself, and a lot more forgiving
- 43:28Speaker 3: of yourself. And that's important. You have that right to
- 43:35Speaker 3: forgive yourself for anything that you want to be forgiven for.
- 43:42Speaker 3: You don't have to wait for somebody else to forgive you.
- 43:47Speaker 3: So I want you to remember that it's okay to
- 43:50Speaker 3: forgive yourself. You don't have to wait for somebody to say, oh,
- 43:55Speaker 3: you know, I'll think about whether I'm want to forgive
- 43:56Speaker 3: you for this that or the other who aid them. God,
- 44:04Speaker 3: I'm not sure what your faith is. I'm not pushing
- 44:06Speaker 3: my faith on you or anybody else. But you have
- 44:10Speaker 3: to deal with your decisions and your choices yourself and
- 44:17Speaker 3: forgiveness for what I'm seeing from what I'm hearing, for
- 44:20Speaker 3: you to have started forgiving yourself. You seem to be
- 44:23Speaker 3: in a better place. You seem to be a lot
- 44:27Speaker 3: calmer than what you were when we first met. I
- 44:32Speaker 3: can look back at the miniseries from the first second
- 44:34Speaker 3: to third one to now and I see somebody that
- 44:38Speaker 3: she seems like peace is just it's surrounding you. And
- 44:44Speaker 3: I don't know what you've been through to make this happen,
- 44:49Speaker 3: but just keep up the good work with it. You
- 44:53Speaker 3: just keep up doing what you're doing that makes you happy,
- 44:55Speaker 3: it makes your son happy. I want to thank you
- 44:59Speaker 3: to Cole for chatting with us tonight. I'm gonna continue
- 45:02Speaker 3: to follow you and bring you back once that sequel
- 45:04Speaker 3: is written. I also want to thank you viewers and
- 45:07Speaker 3: listeners for turning for tuning in tonight and every first
- 45:11Speaker 3: and third Friday of the month. Tune in on September
- 45:15Speaker 3: the sixth for a special episode of Relaxed, Relate and
- 45:20Speaker 3: the release of an incarcerated man of more than a
- 45:23Speaker 3: quarter of a century. He will be he lied in
- 45:27Speaker 3: my studio here on Basic Black after Dawn. Now, what
- 45:32Speaker 3: I hadn't thought about saying is who he is what
- 45:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna say.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Some people may have certain feelings of why I should
- 45:39Speaker 3: feel this way, but if you've gotten to know me,
- 45:43Speaker 3: I really don't care. This is my brother who is
- 45:47Speaker 3: coming home from incarceration. He served his time. I'm not
- 45:54Speaker 3: gonna hold anything else against him because he's done what
- 45:57Speaker 3: he was supposed to do and next to do the
- 45:59Speaker 3: time he was supposed to sern And yes, I am
- 46:03Speaker 3: very very happy to have him home. I'm gonna have
- 46:08Speaker 3: boxes of tissue. I'm gonna tell you that right now,
- 46:11Speaker 3: because I know I'm gonna probably be boring like crazy.
- 46:15Speaker 3: We're gonna have a phone number for those of you
- 46:17Speaker 3: who remember my brother so you can call in. But
