- 0:00Speaker 1: So movie time, and it's brought to you by a
- 0:03Speaker 1: healthy lawn doesn't need water every day. This year, Jordan
- 0:07Speaker 1: Valley Water asked you to water twice a week or less.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Life is better with water.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Disclosure Day Steven Spielberg's big alien movie. This is it
- 0:19Speaker 2: says here, this is the first time in god how
- 0:21Speaker 2: many years he's had a blockbuster openings. He's he just
- 0:30Speaker 2: they just killed it at the box office. It's collected
- 0:34Speaker 2: forty four million dollars in the United States and Canada
- 0:38Speaker 2: Thursday through Sunday. It's a very good opening. Disclosure Day
- 0:42Speaker 2: is on track to take in even more through the weekend.
- 0:47Speaker 2: That was only Thursday through Saturday. But he hasn't had
- 0:51Speaker 2: a big hit since what is it Minority Report, It's.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Been it's been a minute. We saw it. We went
- 0:58Speaker 3: to it over the weekends.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Some of that money was yours and we were gonna
- 1:02Speaker 2: we it was a toss up, We're gonna go that
- 1:04Speaker 2: or to go see back rooms.
- 1:05Speaker 1: So we we went and now and you went to
- 1:07Speaker 1: back rooms, which I've seen. We'll talk about that in
- 1:09Speaker 1: a second. But so we went to the Spielberg movie
- 1:11Speaker 1: and what first of all, it is it's it's it's
- 1:16Speaker 1: for sure a Spielberg film. I mean, the guy can't
- 1:19Speaker 1: do anything wrong really, and it's decent. It's a decent
- 1:23Speaker 1: fun movie, and it has thrills. It really is kind
- 1:26Speaker 1: of a thriller, and you have it's you think of
- 1:29Speaker 1: like all of your favorite Spielberg films, and you see
- 1:32Speaker 1: a lot of callbacks that. There's like a scene that
- 1:35Speaker 1: kind of reminded me of What's the One Kerry where
- 1:38Speaker 1: there's the guy in the semi truck chasing the guy.
- 1:41Speaker 2: One of the dual duel.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So there's a scene involving a train that reminds me
- 1:47Speaker 1: of that film a little bit. All sorts of things
- 1:51Speaker 1: that I caught that I thought were sort of references
- 1:53Speaker 1: to close encounters.
- 1:55Speaker 3: You don't he doesn't.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Overtly go there with that, but there are just little
- 1:59Speaker 1: things that I've heard people say. It's it's kind of
- 2:02Speaker 1: a companion piece sort of. There's there's a scene where
- 2:06Speaker 1: in Disclosure Day, there in a hotel room and there
- 2:09Speaker 1: are there's a highway outside, so there's a car headlights
- 2:12Speaker 1: going sort of around the room like you do when when,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and the movement of those lights is very to me.
- 2:20Speaker 1: It reminded me of the way that the lights on
- 2:21Speaker 1: the UFOs and Close Encounters looked and behaved. And uh,
- 2:28Speaker 1: now some of the geeks have found that some of
- 2:29Speaker 1: you see him writing down some formulas, some equations and things.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Those are apparently lifted from Close Encounters.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I mean, all in all, is it a good movie?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah? It was. I'll give it like it B plus.
- 2:41Speaker 3: You know what, it was good. It was good.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And it's it's uh that you feel like there you
- 2:45Speaker 1: feel like you're watching all of his fil There's some
- 2:49Speaker 1: great chase scenes. Yeah, and like you remind there's a
- 2:52Speaker 1: couple of scenes where you're like, oh, it's like a
- 2:54Speaker 1: chase scene that he would have done, like with one
- 2:56Speaker 1: of the Indiana Jones movies when he was working with Lucas.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It's it's really pretty good. It's a little long. There's
- 3:02Speaker 3: this little like subplot that kind.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Of happens in the middle that's a little I thought
- 3:06Speaker 1: corny and didn't need to be all of that. But
- 3:09Speaker 1: it's for the most part fun And what's.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Cool is the not really a spoiler. I'll just say this.
- 3:18Speaker 1: They utilize broadcast media in it to share some things, right.
- 3:25Speaker 2: And then so you saw back rooms as well, Yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 2: we did, and I saw it on Saturday.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Tell me your thoughts on that.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I thought it was pretty compelling, it was pretty It
- 3:35Speaker 2: kept you guessing because they it's the kind of movie
- 3:38Speaker 2: where they don't spell things out very much. They take,
- 3:43Speaker 2: they make, and they make a lot of They give
- 3:46Speaker 2: you certain clues as to things that might be happening,
- 3:51Speaker 2: but they don't definitely say this is it's not a story.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's it's more everything is implied. Everything is implied. But
- 3:59Speaker 2: the h the two leads in it, they're still go
- 4:05Speaker 2: and what's her name, Ranata rings rains Ving. She's a
- 4:09Speaker 2: Swedish actress. They're both just incredibly good. Uh and uh
- 4:15Speaker 2: and it's creepy, yeah and uh. And it's part of
- 4:20Speaker 2: the reason it's so creepy is you keep thinking trying,
- 4:22Speaker 2: what's going Wait a minute, what's what, what the hell
- 4:24Speaker 2: is going what is that? What the hell is going
- 4:27Speaker 2: on here? And it just keeps you thinking what what's
- 4:29Speaker 2: going on here? Almost the whole time.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I liked it until about kind of sort of maybe
- 4:35Speaker 1: halfway ish through, and then because I like the prems,
- 4:39Speaker 1: like this is weird and it's almost like a Stephen
- 4:41Speaker 1: King short story where It's like, wouldn't it be weird
- 4:43Speaker 1: if you had this, you know, the backer stuff, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: then and then it and then it felt like it
- 4:48Speaker 1: didn't know how to finish itself out because just all
- 4:51Speaker 1: this stuff it was.
- 4:52Speaker 3: It was really good. The performances are great.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And I love the fact I was just dying over
- 4:56Speaker 1: all of the because it said in nineteen ninety and
- 4:58Speaker 1: so all of the ugly FURNI sure.
- 5:00Speaker 3: This awful furniture store.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And he's such a this poor guy, he's just having
- 5:05Speaker 1: the toughest life. He owns the or manages the furniture store,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and he's like living in it, like because he's in
- 5:11Speaker 1: a fight with his wife and so he does see
- 5:13Speaker 1: where she doesn't, kind of waking up in a bed
- 5:15Speaker 1: and it's like and he dotches in TV in one
- 5:17Speaker 1: of the beds in the store.
- 5:18Speaker 2: He does his own commercials TV and he's he's a
- 5:22Speaker 2: pirate character in the commercials.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I saw a movie, what did you see?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Scary?
- 5:28Speaker 4: They Will Kill You.
- 5:32Speaker 3: In theaters?
- 5:33Speaker 4: No, it was on HBO. Finally it was in theaters.
- 5:37Speaker 4: But this was a wild film. This was really wild.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It will kill You, They will kill You.
- 5:45Speaker 4: It's it's about a woman as He Beats, whom I'm
- 5:49Speaker 4: just crazy about, takes a job as a housekeeper okay,
- 5:53Speaker 4: in this New York City high rise. But she at
- 5:57Speaker 4: first appears unaware of the building's history of disappearances.
- 6:04Speaker 2: But she should have figured it out.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Because as she's knocking on the door, there are carvings
- 6:10Speaker 4: all around the door of Satan. Well, this great horned creature,
- 6:14Speaker 4: you know, what might give you a clue that something's
- 6:17Speaker 4: up exactly. But what we do find out is that
- 6:20Speaker 4: she's searching for her sister. But it's it's it's it's.
- 6:24Speaker 2: One of these.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Over the top, wild violent comedy films.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's comedy.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Yeah, so you know when somebody gets their head cut
- 6:36Speaker 4: off like a cartoon, they stand there for a minute, well,
- 6:40Speaker 4: fake a fountain of Quentin Tarantino blood goes spurting out,
- 6:45Speaker 4: you know, and then they drop.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Okay, Well that's the way it happens in real life.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Take it for me. Take it for me as a
- 6:52Speaker 2: person who's chopped off a few heads.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But I was, I was watching as as He Beats
- 6:56Speaker 4: there and I started liking her when she was I'm
- 7:00Speaker 4: go in Deadpool too.
- 7:01Speaker 2: She looks crazy in that picture.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Yeah, she uh she should be the next James Bond.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I think she kicks ass. I really liked her. She
- 7:12Speaker 2: was starr and it she was in Atlanta, Oh yeah,
- 7:16Speaker 2: with Oh yeah, that's right with uh what's his name?
- 7:20Speaker 2: You know, little childish Gambino, childish Gambino. But yeah, it's
- 7:25Speaker 2: a it's a wild movie.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I like the vibe. I've got the trailer. I'm just
- 7:30Speaker 3: watching it. I can't hear anything, but I just kind
- 7:32Speaker 3: of like the visual that I'm seeing in this.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Patricia Arcuat with a Scottish accent.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Oh okay, that's who that is? Okay.
- 7:40Speaker 2: And and Patricia Arcatt can we know she can play crazy.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Well and she's she's the leader of the of the
- 7:45Speaker 4: crazy y. Yeah, i'll tell you about it off there.
- 7:49Speaker 4: If you're not going to go, I'm going to watch it.
- 7:51Speaker 4: There's a lot of really cool, stupid stuff in it.
- 7:54Speaker 2: It's just great anyway,
