- 0:00There's also a pretty famous legend in this area of the vanishing hitchhiker.
- 0:07Okay.
- 0:08And it's kind of like the woman in white where she stands outside on the road and then
- 0:13wants you to pick her up and all of a sudden she disappears.
- 0:16She's like, "Bye, thanks for the ride."
- 0:19She's scary or she just like shows up and then you like run into her and she vanishes
- 0:24and turns like just traumatized for life.
- 0:28Bye, I just downloaded the Uber app.
- 0:31[laughter]
- 0:33No tip for you.
- 0:35Yeah.
- 0:36[music]
- 0:39Hi, Caitlyn.
- 0:40Hi, Cassie.
- 0:41Hi, creepy people out there.
- 0:43Hello!
- 0:44If you're new to our creepy corner of the world, this is PNW Haunts and Homicides,
- 0:50where we chat about true crime, the paranormal, and anything creepy in the Pacific Northwest.
- 0:57PNW, if you're nasty.
- 0:59We know you're nasty.
- 1:00You're nice to me.
- 1:01We see you.
- 1:02We see you.
- 1:04We also do a tarot reading at the end of every episode for a little bit of deeper insight into our topic.
- 1:11Our nasty topic.
- 1:12Our nasty topic.
- 1:13I don't why like the word nasty.
- 1:15I really do love it.
- 1:16I really do too.
- 1:17Like you really got to put some stank on it.
- 1:19Nice.
- 1:20You're nice to me.
- 1:22I don't like the word stank.
- 1:24Yeah, I don't really either.
- 1:26I felt like I regretted that as soon as it came out of my mouth, which is these days I feel like,
- 1:34why do I even speak?
- 1:35I don't know.
- 1:36You should just just...
- 1:38I guess I have this microphone.
- 1:41I guess that's why.
- 1:43No, be loud.
- 1:44Be loud and proud.
- 1:45Yeah.
- 1:46Do you remember the other word I don't like?
- 1:49I don't like to tell people because then they throw it in my face.
- 1:52And it's not moist.
- 1:53I was gonna say I know it's not moist.
- 1:56It's...
- 1:57It's crotch.
- 1:58Oh yeah, I don't care for it.
- 2:01Stanky crotch.
- 2:02Wow, that's really a nightmarish combo of words there.
- 2:07There's like the grossest taste in my mouth right now.
- 2:10Oh.
- 2:11Don't know.
- 2:13That was just out of my mouth.
- 2:16I was like, I don't know how I'm supposed to react to that, but I know how I feel.
- 2:22I'm not checking.
- 2:23Mm.
- 2:24Check in.
- 2:25Well, are you ready to continue our summer adventure shenanigans?
- 2:29Yeah.
- 2:30Because we're not done with summer yet, y'all.
- 2:32No, well, obviously not.
- 2:33It's like midway through summer.
- 2:35Right.
- 2:36I know.
- 2:37Me over here just being, well, angstily.
- 2:40You're like, yeah, it's not over yet.
- 2:42No.
- 2:43I'm hot.
- 2:44Yeah, it's very hot.
- 2:46But we're going.
- 2:47You might get a little bit of relief from the heat.
- 2:51Because I'm going to be in a cave.
- 2:53No.
- 2:54Not a cave this time, I promise.
- 2:55Okay.
- 2:56Different.
- 2:57We're doing different things.
- 2:58We're not just sticking with the same old thing all summer.
- 3:01And you know what's more PNW than climbing a dang ol' mountain.
- 3:06A dang ol' mountain.
- 3:07A dang ol' mountain.
- 3:08A dang ol' mountain.
- 3:09You know, those are really cold at the top even in the summer.
- 3:11That's true.
- 3:12That's true.
- 3:13FYI.
- 3:14I guess you didn't know.
- 3:15That's why I like to hike them.
- 3:16Because I stay cool.
- 3:18Yes.
- 3:19I get that like, you know, I'm being active.
- 3:23You get that like glistening, like, you know, blood rushing.
- 3:27Like, feels good.
- 3:30I look good.
- 3:31I'm not hot.
- 3:32I love being cold and then like getting myself warm, you know.
- 3:36No, I don't want to get warm.
- 3:38You know, you have to warm up a little bit.
- 3:40Like you can warm up without dying.
- 3:42Because it's cold.
- 3:44I mean, it's better than like the 10 mile hike that I did when it was like 90 plus
- 3:48degrees and we ran out of water before we made it to the lake.
- 3:53Oh God.
- 3:54Why?
- 3:55I don't know.
- 3:57Why?
- 3:58Hmm?
- 3:59Not really.
- 4:00You know where you are.
- 4:01That's actually a really good point that you bring up that really relates to this episode.
- 4:05Because you have to be prepared for hiking.
- 4:08Like, especially mountain hiking.
- 4:10It's not just, oh, it's going to mountain.
- 4:13Go hiking.
- 4:14Yeah.
- 4:15You got to be prepared.
- 4:16Yeah, respect the mountain.
- 4:18Seriously.
- 4:19Yeah.
- 4:20She'll eat you.
- 4:21So we're headed about 61 miles southeast from Seattle to the cascades to the tallest mountain
- 4:28in Washington, a 14,411 foot tall active volcaNO volcaNO.
- 4:37I literally typo-d volcaNO
- 4:40Yeah.
- 4:46I was like, wow, that's like really?
- 4:47My body is telling me I have no control over my irrational fear of all kinds.
- 4:50I was going to say that it's like almost a Freudian slip.
- 4:54Yeah.
- 4:55Volcanoes.
- 4:56Yeah.
- 4:57Yeah.
- 4:58Yeah.
- 4:59Beerly deadly.
- 5:00You know, because lava.
- 5:01Yes.
- 5:02I'll never go to Hawaii.
- 5:03I think we've talked about it.
- 5:04Like, oh, you have to go to Hawaii.
- 5:06No.
- 5:07Absolutely not.
- 5:08That's like my personal anxiety.
- 5:09Well, no.
- 5:10Well, I'm glad we're not doing a destination in Hawaii.
- 5:12I'm never going to Hawaii.
- 5:13I don't even like, I don't have any desire to go to Hawaii.
- 5:17Like, none.
- 5:19Spoken like someone who has never been to Hawaii.
- 5:21I don't need to go.
- 5:23I feel like I just fall.
- 5:25Fall, but I'm convinced I had a past life in Pompeii and I just like won't have any of it.
- 5:31Yeah.
- 5:32Not having it.
- 5:34Volcanoes.
- 5:35Volcanoes.
- 5:36Volcanoes.
- 5:37I don't know.
- 5:39Well, any pool.
- 5:42Mount Tahoma's.
- 5:44It's indigenous name.
- 5:46Last volcanic eruption was in 1894.
- 5:50So does that mean that we're like do for?
- 5:54I don't know.
- 5:55I feel like kind of maybe maybe in 2094.
- 5:59Hopefully not.
- 6:01Oh, yeah.
- 6:02Okay.
- 6:03It also has its own national park measuring at 369 miles.
- 6:09Ooh.
- 6:10Today we're talking about Mount Rainier.
- 6:13Okay.
- 6:14Okay.
- 6:15I was like, I don't want to say.
- 6:18You're like, you brought, there was a lot of hints in there.
- 6:21I know, but I'm like, I have to assume that I remember anything.
- 6:25Yeah.
- 6:26I mean, I guess if you're not from here, you might not know.
- 6:30I mean, who knows maybe Mount Rainier is your Roman Empire?
- 6:35I don't know.
- 6:36Well, that means, but what happened to the Roman Empire?
- 6:39Okay.
- 6:40I'm going to have to show you that later.
- 6:42Is it an internet meme?
- 6:43It is.
- 6:44I don't internet.
- 6:45I know.
- 6:46But like, you really need to know this.
- 6:48It's like, it became such like viral trend because people were like finding out that
- 6:55apparently men think about the Roman Empire.
- 6:58Yeah.
- 6:59Okay.
- 7:00I feel like we've talked about this.
- 7:01Yeah.
- 7:02Yeah.
- 7:03So I don't know.
- 7:04Maybe that's maybe that for you is Mount Rainier.
- 7:07I don't think about it.
- 7:08No.
- 7:09Exactly.
- 7:10But we have been there before in the first UFO episode I did where Kenneth Arnold sought the
- 7:17weird flying objects.
- 7:19You have those UAPs.
- 7:21UAPs.
- 7:22I made up a new thing.
- 7:23Weird flying objects.
- 7:24W-F-O.
- 7:25W.
- 7:26Yeah.
- 7:27Yeah.
- 7:28Yeah.
- 7:29W-F-O.
- 7:30Anyway.
- 7:31So he saw those over Mount Rainier.
- 7:32That was a whole story if you are interested.
- 7:34You can go all the way back to like the ninth episode we did.
- 7:39Maybe I'll link it for you if I'm feeling nice.
- 7:42Yeah.
- 7:43I'll just go to the search bar and type in UFO.
- 7:46Type in.
- 7:47I think it's called I believe or I want to know we change it.
- 7:51It's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 7:53Oh.
- 7:54Okay.
- 7:55So I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 7:58I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 7:59I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:01I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:02I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:03I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:04I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:05I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:06I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:07I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:08I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:09I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:10I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:11I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:12I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:13I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:14I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:15I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:16I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:31I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:32I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:34I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:35I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:36I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:37I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:38I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:39I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:40I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:41I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:42I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:43I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:44I think it's like a Pacific Northwest UFO.
- 8:45But even now, Camp Muir is the highest you can go up Mount Rainier without a permit.
- 8:51So like you have to be serious about hiking and get a permit.
- 8:55Okay.
- 8:56I don't know what you need for that.
- 8:57I mean, that makes sense because I'm sure if like they've probably figured out that's the point where if you go further, you need to be prepared because you can get like altitude sickness and other experience.
- 9:11There's a lot of ice obviously at the top of the mountain.
- 9:15So you're going to have to be like, I don't know what you need.
- 9:17But you didn't know that.
- 9:18Wearing ice shoes and having ice picks and I don't know.
- 9:21Yeah.
- 9:22Is ice skating is that what you do up a mountain?
- 9:24You just just ice skating just super cash.
- 9:27That let's say you get down.
- 9:29Yeah, that makes sense.
- 9:31I should never have a hiking permit.
- 9:32Don't give me one.
- 9:33Don't give her a permit for God's sake.
- 9:36If you can make this eight mile round trip hike though with an elevation gain of 4,640 feet, the highest point at 10,080 feet.
- 9:50That's too many feet.
- 9:53It's too many.
- 9:55But you'll get an amazing close up view of the mountain that a lot of people get to see.
- 10:01But that sounds really hard.
- 10:03I feel like people have probably taken pictures of that.
- 10:06Yeah, there's pictures.
- 10:07We'll post some.
- 10:09So you don't even have to do it.
- 10:11I know.
- 10:12Honestly, work smarter, not harder.
- 10:16Some campers at Mount Rainier saw strange lights in the sky that could not have been in their opinion.
- 10:24Normal aircraft or satellites.
- 10:26Okay.
- 10:27They were blue dots moving in an irregular pattern.
- 10:31A regular pattern is kind of a theme with these UAP UFOs.
- 10:36It's either that or they're two synchronized.
- 10:40Right.
- 10:41Or I don't know.
- 10:42They move away too quickly.
- 10:45The speed is also another thing that comes up once.
- 10:48Yeah, and I think that was one of the things.
- 10:50I don't like any of that.
- 10:51It makes me think of a spider.
- 10:54They move in a very sometimes irregular way.
- 10:57Like the jumping ones.
- 10:59Yeah.
- 11:00I had one that was so cute.
- 11:01Fast.
- 11:02The other day in my tub.
- 11:03Don't tell me.
- 11:04Yeah.
- 11:05She killed it.
- 11:06He's fine.
- 11:09He told me he was an Olympic swimmer.
- 11:11Uh-huh.
- 11:12Okay.
- 11:13I saw one of the not spiders, the daddy long legs on my door the other day.
- 11:17It's just like hanging out.
- 11:18And I was like, oh, hi.
- 11:20I was like, you're not a spider.
- 11:21You're okay.
- 11:22And I just, so now I talk to him every time I leave if he's still there.
- 11:26No.
- 11:27You're cute.
- 11:29Okay.
- 11:30I like tiny puppies.
- 11:31And that's a gross mischaracterization.
- 11:34Characterization of puppies.
- 11:36I like to talk.
- 11:37I can't even talk.
- 11:38I'm so uncomfortable.
- 11:40So you would be uncomfortable if you were here too because all of these people woke up nauseous
- 11:45and not remembering what else happened the rest of the night after they saw the weird lights.
- 11:51Okay.
- 11:52I don't think anybody likes it, but I think you know how I feel about nausea.
- 11:57Yeah.
- 11:58I find it nauseating.
- 11:59It's so nauseating.
- 12:00It's severely nauseating.
- 12:02I'm never going to stop.
- 12:03I'm never stopping.
- 12:05No apologies.
- 12:06Everything is so severe.
- 12:09These same campers also experienced a couple more weird things.
- 12:13In their camp that they had set up, they came across a tree that had an in loving memory
- 12:19and a couple that had apparently passed away.
- 12:23Like there?
- 12:25Yeah.
- 12:26Like on one of the trees that was in the site that they decided to make for their camp.
- 12:31I mean that's cute, I guess, but I would just be like, nope.
- 12:35This gives me the egg of out.
- 12:37Well, it's like did they die there?
- 12:39Or what's it I'm saying?
- 12:41Was that just like their favorite spot?
- 12:44I don't know.
- 12:45They don't know either.
- 12:46My whole face is just like so itchy now.
- 12:48Oh, sorry.
- 12:49Don't it you'll take your makeup off.
- 12:51I know.
- 12:52I'm trying really hard to like sort of touch it.
- 12:55Yeah.
- 12:56Oh, well, I mean, you know, this is like my episode.
- 12:58So it's not going to get better, you know?
- 13:02So around midnight, one of them heard a man singing that progressively got closer and closer.
- 13:10And when all of a sudden the singing stops, it was replaced with what sounded like a man
- 13:15and a woman having a conversation.
- 13:17Okay, well, never meet a man.
- 13:19Certainly don't talk to him after he's just like randomly breaking out in song.
- 13:24Well, the thing is like this isn't a camp.
- 13:27It's not a camping ground.
- 13:29It's the wilderness that people decide to camp in.
- 13:32So why is that guy there singing in the middle of the night?
- 13:36Yeah, there's nobody around.
- 13:37There's nobody there.
- 13:38I rest my case.
- 13:39Like, yeah, this is not good.
- 13:42And they also never saw a flashlight or anything.
- 13:44And that seemed a little off for people to be walking around in nature, treacherous nature,
- 13:50wilderness without a flashlight next to a cliff.
- 13:53Okay, I'm just picturing some super creepy guy like singing to himself, walking around in night vision goggles.
- 14:01Yeah.
- 14:02And I'm immediately I'm like, all right, well, I gotta go.
- 14:06Well, that just means it's Brennan.
- 14:08It's time for others.
- 14:10It's okay, it might not move equality.
- 14:15Oh, man.
- 14:16I know that's not in reference to the night vision goggles.
- 14:20Okay, but when we're 40.
- 14:22Yeah.
- 14:23Wait, what's the other?
- 14:25They're not even that noticeable on your face.
- 14:28Yes, that is about the night vision goggles.
- 14:33Oh, boy.
- 14:34Okay.
- 14:35If you guys ever need someone to like go to a trivia night exclusively about step-brothers,
- 14:43we could do it.
- 14:44Yeah, these two gals.
- 14:46Yes.
- 14:47Hopefully we're playing for money.
- 14:48Of course.
- 14:49Why else would you play trivia for fun?
- 14:51I think a lot of people do it for fun.
- 14:53Oh, no judgment.
- 14:55I'm not going to yak your yum.
- 14:58Okay.
- 14:59Oh, oh, there's more.
- 15:00Oh, oh, there's more.
- 15:02Oh, my God.
- 15:04I love it.
- 15:05One of them even felt something shaking their tent.
- 15:11Maybe it was windy.
- 15:12Was it windy?
- 15:13I mean, if you're an experienced camper and all you probably are afraid of normal winds,
- 15:21for sure.
- 15:22I don't know.
- 15:24No one else's tent was shaking.
- 15:27So I don't know.
- 15:29Maybe.
- 15:30I don't know like that, really.
- 15:33Then they found bear human-like footprints in the sand twice the width in about three inches
- 15:43longer than an average dude foot.
- 15:45Okay, so wait.
- 15:47This has been described as a bear slash B-A-R-E.
- 15:53Bear human.
- 15:54Yeah.
- 15:55Okay, I was like, 'cause bears, and human feet are very different.
- 15:59They're all different.
- 16:01Yeah.
- 16:02Who's like, is this some sort of a hybrid?
- 16:04Like, how concerned do I need to be?
- 16:06Because here's the thing is I think we've established that we're team bear.
- 16:10Yeah.
- 16:11But like not if there are bare-man hybrids out there.
- 16:14Man bear pig.
- 16:15Right.
- 16:16Exactly.
- 16:17Yeah, not to be trusted.
- 16:18No, they weren't, they were naked feet to use.
- 16:20Naked.
- 16:21They also found naked handprints that would make an average man's hands look like toddler
- 16:29hands.
- 16:30So it was like quite a bit bigger than average man hand.
- 16:34Okay.
- 16:35I don't see the big deal.
- 16:36I've been doing that for like decades.
- 16:39My hands make everyone's hands.
- 16:41I guess it's like actually the opposite.
- 16:43Yeah.
- 16:44Yeah, everyone's hands make yours look like toddler hands, which they're so small.
- 16:48They're like freakish.
- 16:50They're just basically the size of, they don't even look like, they are not.
- 16:54I mean, a toddler goes average until like around age 11.
- 17:01I do mean in size because like man hands are, they kind of act like toddler hands already.
- 17:06So they're just real grabbing.
- 17:07No, no.
- 17:08Just touching things.
- 17:09They're sticky.
- 17:10Yes.
- 17:11You don't know the last time they were.
- 17:14You don't know the last time they were washed.
- 17:17I hope.
- 17:18Hey, let's take a shower.
- 17:21I want to be fun.
- 17:27Yeah.
- 17:29In this person's story, they quoted, "I don't know what a person would be doing walking
- 17:34along the side of a river, Barefoot.
- 17:37If you know anything about Washington, it's that there's constantly sharp rocks along the
- 17:42river and ocean with very little sand.
- 17:45That seems accurate about Washington."
- 17:47Yeah.
- 17:48I don't know, I've walked Barefoot on like the beaches in Washington.
- 17:52Yeah, it's like a river though.
- 17:54It's not like a beach.
- 17:55So the rivers don't have like a bunch of sandy.
- 17:59Yeah, I mean, even up on like Orcas Island, you know, like up in the sandwands.
- 18:06It's very rocky.
- 18:07Yeah.
- 18:08I don't know, but it's, but it is not, this isn't the coast either.
- 18:11It's way more inland.
- 18:12Yeah.
- 18:13So it's like even more rocky.
- 18:15More rocks.
- 18:16So many rocks in Washington.
- 18:17Many rocks.
- 18:18Washington.
- 18:19It's severely rocky.
- 18:21Are we sick of me yet?
- 18:25Cause I am.
- 18:26No, I love it.
- 18:28I'm living for this.
- 18:29I am severely in love with it.
- 18:37So a couple of friends were leaving Mount Rainier after a day of hiking.
- 18:41Sounds like a good idea.
- 18:42Yeah, yeah.
- 18:43Yeah.
- 18:44Well, people stay in camp with it.
- 18:45You know, they didn't hike that long.
- 18:47So they were leaving.
- 18:48Yeah.
- 18:49They were leaving in their car.
- 18:50They were driving out.
- 18:51And it was winter.
- 18:52So it was pretty snowy up there.
- 18:53Not a lot of people around cause it's hard to drive in the snow.
- 18:57Yeah.
- 18:58And they were driving for about 30 minutes and thought it was weird.
- 19:02They kept passing this same distinct tree like three or four times.
- 19:07Oh no, they're like stuck in a loop.
- 19:11And all of a sudden the air got oddly warm and heavy.
- 19:15Yeah.
- 19:16Yeah.
- 19:17And so the car in front of, there was a car in front of them and they stopped quickly.
- 19:23And they see like on the tree line, the short looking person with like a hooded robot running
- 19:32into the trees.
- 19:34And the passenger already had their camera up cause they were like taking selfies in the
- 19:37car.
- 19:38Okay.
- 19:39Yeah.
- 19:40So they like reflexes like a cat.
- 19:42They snapped a picture and then they felt like a strong terrifying presence.
- 19:48Like it just felt like uncomfortable and achy.
- 19:52Yeah.
- 19:53And then this thing like skitter, they said it skittered off faster than they ever worst
- 20:00way to describe how skittered.
- 20:02That's why it kept like the quote cause they were like it skittered off faster and quieter
- 20:07than seems should be possible.
- 20:09Yeah.
- 20:10I mean, they were kind of far they were in a car so I don't know how they could have really
- 20:14heard them but apparently it made no sound.
- 20:17Oh, like it.
- 20:19And they couldn't make out any of the facial features.
- 20:22Okay.
- 20:23Great.
- 20:24Well, maybe it's too far.
- 20:25Yeah.
- 20:26I'm sure it's not because it doesn't have any.
- 20:28Yeah.
- 20:29You can see I have pictures here.
- 20:31Right.
- 20:32Okay.
- 20:33So that's the picture of the thing.
- 20:36You can see it like off on the right hand side of the photo.
- 20:40You see that?
- 20:41I do.
- 20:42It looks far so I don't know how you would nail anything.
- 20:47The facial features.
- 20:48Yeah.
- 20:49And oh, you can't see some of the snow.
- 20:51They were kind of down further on the mountain by that point.
- 20:55So I don't know.
- 20:57I'm trying to zoom in on this thing.
- 21:00You can't though.
- 21:01It does look like it's wearing a hood though.
- 21:05I mean, it kind of looks like a leprechaun.
- 21:08I'm not going to lie.
- 21:10Ooh.
- 21:11It does?
- 21:12A little.
- 21:13Right.
- 21:14It's hard to tell because it's like very indistinct.
- 21:18But wait.
- 21:19There's more.
- 21:21Great.
- 21:23I love it when there's more.
- 21:25So neither of them felt well and found it hard to focus afterwards.
- 21:30Same.
- 21:31Well, that's just my default though.
- 21:34Yeah, apparently it was worse than normal if that was there normal.
- 21:38This is when they got back home and they even woke up having the vomit in the middle of
- 21:43the night.
- 21:44No, thank you.
- 21:45A mornaja.
- 21:46Yeah.
- 21:47Was this?
- 21:48And this has happened to me more than once recently.
- 21:52Oh.
- 21:53Remember?
- 21:54Like I've told you about this because it's had to do with, you know, and like a chronic
- 22:00medical condition, obviously.
- 22:02But yeah.
- 22:03Well, did you also have trouble sleeping and have wear disturbing dreams?
- 22:08I mean, like, hello, have we met?
- 22:12Okay.
- 22:13I always have trouble sleeping.
- 22:14I haven't been having weird dreams.
- 22:15Not recently.
- 22:16Well, I have a new theory.
- 22:18Okay.
- 22:19They said this thing was short.
- 22:21God damn it.
- 22:22It's Taylor.
- 22:23She's the hooded.
- 22:25Why am I nauseous?
- 22:28Because you are trying to pass your nausea off on other people.
- 22:33I'm like, I'm done with this.
- 22:35You take it.
- 22:36I don't take it out to Rainier and give other people my nausea.
- 22:41That's amazing.
- 22:42It's not Kayla.
- 22:43Okay.
- 22:44There's also a pretty famous legend in this area of the vanishing hitchhiker.
- 22:52Okay.
- 22:53And it's kind of like the woman in white where she stands outside on the road and then
- 22:58wants you to pick her up and all of a sudden she disappears.
- 23:01She's like, bye.
- 23:02Thanks for the ride.
- 23:03I'm just going to carry her.
- 23:04Or she just like shows up and then you like run into her and she vanishes.
- 23:09Yeah.
- 23:10And then her like just traumatized for life.
- 23:12Yeah.
- 23:13Bye.
- 23:14I just downloaded the Uber app.
- 23:16No tip for you.
- 23:19Yeah.
- 23:20Yeah.
- 23:22The Wonderland Trail is what circles the base of Mount Rainier.
- 23:28And it's said to be haunted by hikers who have passed away on the trail over the years.
- 23:34Okay.
- 23:35Because it's like I said, it's very treacherous.
- 23:38It's the dangle wilderness you guys.
- 23:40We're full.
- 23:42And visitors have heard ghostly whispers in fuel presence while hiking along this trail,
- 23:50especially at night.
- 23:51I mean, that makes sense, I guess.
- 23:55Are you hiking at night though?
- 23:57Yeah, probably do this.
- 23:59I mean, not the best.
- 24:01I don't know.
- 24:02Like in the summertime.
- 24:03Because they're not saying it's after dark.
- 24:05They're just saying like evening.
- 24:07Yeah.
- 24:08I feel like it's night.
- 24:10Like night night.
- 24:11Yeah.
- 24:12Like night night time.
- 24:13I'm going to go night night.
- 24:14Yeah.
- 24:15It's gark outside.
- 24:16They need to go night night intense and stop hiking around.
- 24:19I'm not sure if that trail if you need to camp on it or I don't know.
- 24:22I don't know.
- 24:23I don't know how things work in this Mount Rainier.
- 24:24I've never been there.
- 24:25I don't know.
- 24:28But a lot of people do go missing here very unfortunately.
- 24:33Like I said, like a lot of people, like a lot of people, like I said, you need to be fully
- 24:38prepared.
- 24:39Like have your water, have food, have tell people where you're going.
- 24:43Yes.
- 24:44Because it's also really dangerous for searchers to search for you if you're missing.
- 24:50And then they have to put their life in jeopardy for you.
- 24:53Yeah.
- 24:54Because you weren't prepared.
- 24:55Not victim blaming you.
- 24:57Yeah.
- 24:58But it goes back to like, you know, it's dick road, don't be a dick.
- 25:03Kind of a mentality at least.
- 25:05Just be prepared.
- 25:06Yeah.
- 25:07Everything you do.
- 25:08Be safe.
- 25:09And often people aren't never even found because it's so big and treacherous.
- 25:14Sometimes they can't look in certain areas.
- 25:16Well, sometimes you're just, I mean that happens on mountains like Everest.
- 25:22Like that's obviously a far more extreme.
- 25:26Yeah.
- 25:27But we'll see something kind of like that in a minute.
- 25:30I know.
- 25:31I mean, plus there's animals too.
- 25:35Yeah.
- 25:36So bears.
- 25:37Bears.
- 25:38As amazing as bears are, bring your bear wings.
- 25:42Yeah.
- 25:43Like, given the choice between a man and a bear hypothetically, we know how everyone
- 25:52feels, I think at this point, but still maybe be prepared.
- 25:56Because like bears can also be dicks.
- 25:58Yeah.
- 25:59Don't just like go to a bear and give it a hug, you know, a bear hug.
- 26:02I mean, I know that's a bear hug.
- 26:04Oh, bear hug.
- 26:05Miss leading.
- 26:06Gives a bear a bear hug.
- 26:07Don't do that.
- 26:08It's really misleading.
- 26:09Yeah.
- 26:10Yeah.
- 26:11Did you know that I named my first baby was named Grizzly?
- 26:14Because he was, when he was a kid and I first met him, he would like, and like attack his
- 26:19other brothers and sisters like a bear and he would like stand on it.
- 26:22And he was black and like kind of brown.
- 26:25He was so cute.
- 26:26So cute.
- 26:27I know.
- 26:28So he was my little Grizzly.
- 26:30Oh.
- 26:31He's also my mom's cat.
- 26:32I have to mention that too.
- 26:33I love you, mommy.
- 26:34Thank you for taking my cat.
- 26:35Love you, man.
- 26:36Love you, man.
- 26:37Yeah.
- 26:38Because there's, there's a point in your life where you know, you move on and move out of
- 26:42the things that you were doing, adulting and how you give your pets to your mom.
- 26:48My mom would be like, I think you forgot this.
- 26:53My mom also has my snake.
- 26:55Cause I'm trash.
- 26:57I forgot about this.
- 27:00It's still alive.
- 27:01I've had it since it was 18.
- 27:03It's name is Angel.
- 27:04It's a porn snake.
- 27:08That is like, I didn't realize snakes lived that long.
- 27:13Yeah.
- 27:14Neither did I.
- 27:15Neither did my mom.
- 27:16She's like, I have regret.
- 27:19She likes this.
- 27:20Well, yeah, that's what she tells you.
- 27:23She does.
- 27:24Mommy comments in the Patreon if you like the snake.
- 27:27Name.
- 27:28Name.
- 27:29I do have to pause for a second and just really quickly say that the snake is no longer with
- 27:36us.
- 27:37Her name was Angel and she was about 16, 17 years old.
- 27:44I got her when I was like 18, 19.
- 27:46They said she was a baby, no clue how old she was.
- 27:51But so yeah, very sad.
- 27:53Very interesting that we were talking about her and then I was editing this episode and she
- 28:00had passed like the day before I started editing and realized that, oh, we were talking about
- 28:07her.
- 28:08So I just had to quickly come on and say something.
- 28:12She will be missed.
- 28:14RIP Angel.
- 28:18Another group of people hiking up the mountain.
- 28:20A lot of groups of people hike up the mountain, which is good.
- 28:22Don't go alone.
- 28:23Yeah, also that.
- 28:24And this is like intense like snow ice hiking.
- 28:27Like they were going up the mountain, like in the permit.
- 28:30They've got like the snowshoes and all that.
- 28:32They got all the things.
- 28:33They were very prepared.
- 28:34Nothing went wrong with with their shit except for things out of their control.
- 28:39I was going to say first of all, I don't believe you.
- 28:41So they stopped to tent camp for the night and one of them woke up hearing footsteps of
- 28:48multiple people crunching around in the snow.
- 28:51Like I said, even up further, there's like nobody around because not a lot of people do
- 28:56this.
- 28:57Yeah.
- 28:58They're basically alone and they look out of their tent and they see nothing but they
- 29:04still hear these footsteps.
- 29:06Like it sounds like they're marching around the tent.
- 29:08That's so much creepier.
- 29:10It is creepy.
- 29:11It was kind of funny though because I didn't write this down but they said something about
- 29:17they thought it might be goats because like apparently if the goat is like to they like
- 29:22smell your food or something.
- 29:24Oh, okay.
- 29:25So there's wild goats after that.
- 29:27Yeah.
- 29:28Okay.
- 29:29Yeah.
- 29:30Okay.
- 29:31Let me send the goats.
- 29:32Like the one that is zoo.
- 29:33Like do you think they're the same kind?
- 29:34I don't know.
- 29:35I like the mountain goats.
- 29:36They say goats.
- 29:37Actually, I don't like goats.
- 29:41I feel about goats similarly to how I feel about geese and it's because I have a very similar
- 29:45experience with a goat.
- 29:47Oh.
- 29:48So I got I saw this reel.
- 29:50I know I'm not like never on Facebook but I open it one day and I saw this reel of a goat
- 29:54and like a double costume.
- 29:55And it was like who got this with the sign of the double and it's just this cute goat.
- 30:01They like they looked at this little guy and it's like they are.
- 30:05They are.
- 30:06Oh, but yeah, some of them are serious assholes.
- 30:09I never met an asshole goat.
- 30:11My dad has goats.
- 30:12Their names are Burton Ernie.
- 30:14Stop it.
- 30:15And they're obsessed with each other and they can't be parted.
- 30:18Yeah.
- 30:19Well, you know, it's really cute.
- 30:21That's adorable.
- 30:23So another person in their group ended up waking up and they also heard it.
- 30:26So it was like confirmed.
- 30:28Okay.
- 30:29Yeah.
- 30:30And this goes on for about 15 to 20 minutes and then eventually fades away and in the
- 30:35morning, they found no footprints besides their own.
- 30:39No animal prints, no human prints, no big footprints, no mermaid prints, nothing.
- 30:44Okay.
- 30:45Well, that's the part that I really dislike.
- 30:51I mean, it's honestly hard to choose because I dislike so much of that.
- 30:56But what else could make the sound of like people like marching, crunching and like you
- 31:02don't leave no print and leave no prints.
- 31:04He did say earlier in this story that they, he heard like a big crack right before this,
- 31:12but it ended up being a crack in the eye, like in the glacier.
- 31:16They found a crack in the morning.
- 31:19So I'm like could something be shifting under there making, but I don't know.
- 31:24I feel like that sound was pretty distinct.
- 31:27Yeah.
- 31:28That's like a really loud sound.
- 31:31I would think.
- 31:32And they were far enough away from it that like they mistook that.
- 31:36The footsteps.
- 31:37I don't know.
- 31:38I don't know.
- 31:39And that seems far fetched.
- 31:40Either way, it's kind of interesting that they heard like marching type footsteps because
- 31:46earlier that day, they had passed the marine memorial, a large boulder with a bronze plaque
- 31:54on the east side of round pass, which I don't really know what that is.
- 31:59It's some sort of pass in this hike.
- 32:01It's about 3.8 miles from dry creek, which I don't know if it's actually a dry creek.
- 32:06Yeah.
- 32:07They're like, oh, actually, that's just like a total misnomer.
- 32:10It's fully a creek.
- 32:11It's a, it's a creek.
- 32:13Yeah, it's a creek.
- 32:14And this is looking at a view of the south to home a glacier.
- 32:19Okay.
- 32:20So on December 10th, 1946, the military plane disappeared transporting marine soldiers.
- 32:30They were not able to search for them due to extreme weather conditions.
- 32:34It was December.
- 32:36The weather conditions likely caused the plane to crash into the side of the mountain.
- 32:41Oh no.
- 32:42Thanks.
- 32:43The next July, July, they had to wait.
- 32:49A ranger found the missing plane crash on the south to home a glacier.
- 32:55Four weeks later, the missing marines remains were finally found as well, but they were so
- 33:00high up on the face of the glacier that it was too hazardous and they sadly could not
- 33:08be returned home.
- 33:09Oh no.
- 33:12I would haunt the fuck out of that place.
- 33:15Yeah.
- 33:16So this is the final resting place of the 32 US marines that perished in this crash.
- 33:24It is so sad.
- 33:26In the fact that it took them four weeks to find them after they found the plane.
- 33:33Yeah.
- 33:34And that's months later as well.
- 33:36That's crazy.
- 33:37It's really sad.
- 33:38It makes sense.
- 33:39But it's just like that really drives home.
- 33:42If you get lost, they literally cannot look for you in some places.
- 33:46If you get lost, I just feel so bad for their families too.
- 33:52Because when they can't locate.
- 33:55Yeah.
- 33:56And you don't know where you don't know if it crashed or if it's safe.
- 34:00Yeah.
- 34:01I mean, like there's still got to be a part of you that's thinking, like, well, maybe they're
- 34:07going to come back somehow.
- 34:09Oh, I know it sucks.
- 34:13And at the time, it was the worst aircraft accident in the US and still is Mount Rainier's
- 34:19greatest tragedy.
- 34:22That's sad.
- 34:24Don't worry, guys.
- 34:25Boeing is working on bringing those numbers up.
- 34:28Oh, I don't want that.
- 34:31No one does.
- 34:32No one does.
- 34:36You guys, we have something really exciting to share with you.
- 34:39Let's hear a few words from our new pod besties.
- 34:43Hello there.
- 34:49Oh, hello.
- 34:51This is Robbie and Amanda, the host of Passage.
- 34:56With Robbie and Amanda.
- 34:58And we're here to invite you to take a journey with us.
- 35:01A very sexy journey into the steamy, sumptuous waters of romantic literature.
- 35:07But not just any book we'll do.
- 35:09Oh, no, no.
- 35:11We're on Passages.
- 35:12We dive deep into only the most unhinged and unrestrained and downright debaturous.
- 35:18Sexy debaturous.
- 35:20Stories in the biz.
- 35:22Review, discussion and dissection.
- 35:25Dissection.
- 35:26So come with us.
- 35:28In the lands between comedy and sensuality, they're lie.
- 35:33Passage.
- 35:34Passage.
- 35:35Check them out, creepy people.
- 35:45Their info is in our show notes.
- 35:47Well, hey, do you want to change the subject and do you want to go to some more ghost towns
- 35:53and find creepy doll heads with me?
- 35:58Sometimes it's like you don't even know me.
- 36:02Or do I know you so well that I can push you little buttons?
- 36:07I think two things can be true.
- 36:10All right.
- 36:11There's no doll heads this time.
- 36:14I don't know what's going on.
- 36:16Guys, I feel like she's lying to me.
- 36:18There's not doll heads.
- 36:21Back in the 18 and 1900s, Alder Lake was not a lake at all.
- 36:27It was actually a logging and mining town.
- 36:30Just Alder.
- 36:32Just Jack.
- 36:33Oh my god.
- 36:34I've been watching so much Will and Grace.
- 36:35How you?
- 36:36I feel like I need to watch that.
- 36:38It's just been like all in the background.
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:41It's my new new girl, my old new girl.
- 36:44I mean, it is older than new girl.
- 36:47And that's confusing.
- 36:49I just, yeah.
- 36:50We could spiral on that for a minute.
- 36:52I just rotate through.
- 36:53Like, I used to keep that on all the time.
- 36:55It was just honest.
- 36:56I remember TV when you put it on a channel and it would just replay the same thing for
- 37:01hours.
- 37:02Yeah.
- 37:03Yeah.
- 37:04That's basically what I'm doing now.
- 37:05Yeah.
- 37:06Just going back to my childhood.
- 37:08It's an Aussie, buddy, goodie.
- 37:11In 1942, the town was evacuated to build the Nisqually Dam, which is why it's a lake
- 37:19these days.
- 37:20Okay.
- 37:21That makes sense.
- 37:22All right.
- 37:23Well, kind of.
- 37:24Yeah.
- 37:25Like, the other ghost town we talked about recently, there wasn't any mention of creepy
- 37:29doll heads.
- 37:31But there wasn't.
- 37:33And suddenly, now there is just, I just got to say it.
- 37:37In other news, creepy doll heads.
- 37:40It's a knot spider.
- 37:44But when Alder Lake reaches its lowest water, Walder.
- 37:47Walder.
- 37:48Walder.
- 37:49Walder Alder.
- 37:50Walder Alder.
- 37:51Walder Alder.
- 37:52Walder Alder.
- 37:53But when Alder Lake reaches its lowest water level in the summer, hikers can walk through
- 37:59the old town via the Alder Lake loop.
- 38:03I don't know.
- 38:04I don't know if I like that.
- 38:06That's kind of like that.
- 38:07It makes me think of that creepy lake.
- 38:11It's somewhere in the summer.
- 38:12It's like linear.
- 38:13It's in my heart.
- 38:14It's totally in my nose.
- 38:18That's what I thought of too.
- 38:19Yeah, but it's not as creepy as that.
- 38:22But you could see remains of buildings and pipes, some old-timey shoes, or dishes, or
- 38:28machinery, tires, or a casual rusty model A ford engine.
- 38:34I just kept waiting.
- 38:35I'm like, she's going to say rusty doll head.
- 38:38I'm going to rost her doll head.
- 38:40No, it's all head.
- 38:41Stop bringing it up.
- 38:42You played to this.
- 38:45You inception day into my brain.
- 38:49I'm just going to say it out of you.
- 38:51It's all I can think about.
- 38:54I did put a good reminder in this article I was reading though that I think I didn't even
- 39:00think about the last time.
- 39:02If you go to these ghost towns and find stuff like this, leave it there.
- 39:07Don't take the shoe because it's cooler.
- 39:10If you find a cool fort, don't take it.
- 39:13I could see where it would be possibly tempting for other people, not in impulse that I
- 39:22would have.
- 39:23Also, you don't want to take a fucking ghost home.
- 39:25You just don't touch it.
- 39:28Maybe if you find something cool, contact a museum and tell them about it, if you think that's
- 39:32where it should be, but otherwise just leave it there.
- 39:35For history.
- 39:36Okay.
- 39:37History.
- 39:38For past-dirty.
- 39:39History?
- 39:40It's not your story.
- 39:41Okay.
- 39:42Mm-hmm.
- 39:43I was like, mostly because history and it's rude.
- 39:51I love that.
- 39:54Yeah.
- 39:55And this is where I was like, it totally reminds me of Lake Linear, which is the Georgia.
- 40:00I want to say.
- 40:01Yeah.
- 40:02I can chat.
- 40:03I think it's Georgia.
- 40:04And this whole lake was built on top of a town.
- 40:08And a lot of deaths happen there.
- 40:10Like crazy amount of deaths.
- 40:12I hate deaths.
- 40:13But if you know anything about Lake Linear, you're like, I'm not surprised at all.
- 40:21But I was wholly fucked up history.
- 40:24Yeah, I don't.
- 40:25I'm not quite remembering the history.
- 40:27I know they did something to the town and they wanted it covered up.
- 40:31Yeah.
- 40:32So it was basically like an established community of folks of color.
- 40:39Black people.
- 40:40Black people.
- 40:41That was it there.
- 40:42Mm-hmm.
- 40:43I've probably made this story so many times on ghosty pods.
- 40:46And I, yeah.
- 40:47I hear so many things that everything gets kind of jumbled up.
- 40:50Yeah.
- 40:51Yeah.
- 40:52And sometimes you're like, ooh, do I remember this right?
- 40:54I don't want to give people the wrong idea or whatever.
- 40:58It is Georgia.
- 40:59It is Georgia.
- 41:00What I do remember is like people say they feel like hands trying to pull them down or like
- 41:05brushing up against hair or something like that.
- 41:08Nope.
- 41:09Nope.
- 41:10I don't like water either.
- 41:11So I will not be sewing in any lakes, um, oceans.
- 41:14I wouldn't swim in that water.
- 41:16Fuck that.
- 41:17I'll do pools with clear bottoms.
- 41:20Thank you.
- 41:21That's my preference.
- 41:22But I do, I like lakes sometimes.
- 41:27It sucks too because I really love the water.
- 41:29It's just terrifying.
- 41:30Yeah.
- 41:31Like even the beach, I don't like to put my whole legs on my feet in there.
- 41:35Oh, it's scary.
- 41:36That's all a little fish's one time.
- 41:38I don't like it.
- 41:39Oh yeah, I don't want.
- 41:40I don't want little fish's wash up.
- 41:42Yeah.
- 41:43I don't want things like nibbling on my tutsis.
- 41:46And there's jellyfish all over the place too.
- 41:49Oh yeah.
- 41:50Oh, I sure.
- 41:51I always wear my shoes in the water and everyone's like, what the fuck is wrong with them?
- 41:54What are you doing?
- 41:55I'm me.
- 41:56I'm doing my own thing.
- 41:58You do your thing.
- 41:59I am business.
- 42:00Yeah.
- 42:01Let people be.
- 42:02But out.
- 42:04There's actually another ghost town in the area.
- 42:08It was a mining town from the 1900s called Melmont.
- 42:13And there, this was a pretty big town.
- 42:16I think it said 200 something people, which at the time that was a pretty big town.
- 42:20I feel like that sounds vaguely familiar.
- 42:23I don't know that I know anything about it.
- 42:24This one is about it.
- 42:25This one is about it.
- 42:26This one is about it.
- 42:27This one is about it.
- 42:28The popular one in the area.
- 42:29Okay.
- 42:30So you might have heard of this.
- 42:31That makes sense.
- 42:32And they had a school, a post office, a whole moon, a train station, and a hotel.
- 42:35I mean, they're practically a, they're a big city.
- 42:38Props of brothel.
- 42:39Yeah.
- 42:40You can't go anywhere without one of those.
- 42:42It's true.
- 42:43I'm just thinking of those old pace salsa commercials back in the day.
- 42:50New York City.
- 42:51I don't know why.
- 42:52Like, yeah.
- 42:53Was it a brothel?
- 42:54He gets his, he gets his salsa from a big city, you know.
- 42:59Saloon.
- 43:00Yeah.
- 43:01No salsa.
- 43:02I know, but I'm saying like saloon.
- 43:05Like, this vibe is salsa.
- 43:07Yeah.
- 43:08I don't think anyone was eating a ton of salsa back then.
- 43:13I feel like that was a, it's kind of funny because like what I wrote this sentence about
- 43:19like, linear, you know, but then we had to just talk about it.
- 43:21Yeah.
- 43:22But in my sentence, I wrote, this place isn't as scary and deadly as like, linear.
- 43:28Holy guacamole.
- 43:29So we have a theme.
- 43:33Okay.
- 43:34So if you want to try and tell me that all of this is not connected, first of all, I don't
- 43:40believe you.
- 43:41You don't got a lie to kick it.
- 43:42Yeah.
- 43:43You know, we go together like guacamole and salsa.
- 43:46Yeah.
- 43:47Which one's your salsa and I'm guacamole?
- 43:49I don't know.
- 43:50I feel like salsa seems healthier and can sometimes be spicy.
- 43:55Yeah.
- 43:56So I feel like that would be you and I feel like I, I'm like, I want to be like that.
- 44:03I'm trying to spin this not to say it the way I initially thought and be more like body
- 44:09positive about it.
- 44:10I'm like, it's healthy fat.
- 44:11Yeah.
- 44:12It is.
- 44:13I'm workable.
- 44:14I'm wearing green.
- 44:15And yeah, I was just like that.
- 44:16And you're wearing green.
- 44:17There it is.
- 44:18Yeah.
- 44:19And guacamole is always extra.
- 44:22Guacamole could be spicy too.
- 44:24It can.
- 44:25And you're kind of spicy sometimes.
- 44:26I prefer that it's not.
- 44:27But you know, you don't want to eat spicy, but like you are spicy.
- 44:30Yeah.
- 44:31You could be spicy without eating it.
- 44:33Because you were to eat spicy guacamole and that would be cannibalism.
- 44:36I'm going to give you spicy guacamole though.
- 44:38Oh, I hurt my tummy.
- 44:41Oh no.
- 44:42No.
- 44:43But okay.
- 44:45So they had all this stuff.
- 44:47They were living in this town.
- 44:49All the stuff we just went over.
- 44:51Yeah.
- 44:52And when the minds eventually began to close down, Melma was abandoned.
- 45:00Yeah.
- 45:01Also a forest fire hit it pretty soon after.
- 45:03And that insured it would remain forever a ghosty town.
- 45:07Yeah.
- 45:08That makes sense.
- 45:09You're like, well, we're kind of done like pillaging the earth and then you know, the earth fought
- 45:15back with fire.
- 45:17So it's full.
- 45:18Oh, this is a different one.
- 45:19I was like, it's a lake.
- 45:20No, that's weird.
- 45:21But that's the other one.
- 45:22You're like, it's been all of the elements.
- 45:25Two of the ghost towns.
- 45:27Yeah.
- 45:28This one is actually not a lake and you can still, you can hike through this one too.
- 45:33And you can see old building walls, railroad tracks and old bridges too.
- 45:39I mean, not the thing you could do.
- 45:43I think that would be cool.
- 45:45That would probably be.
- 45:46It's the most creepy as the little one.
- 45:47It's more historical.
- 45:48Yeah.
- 45:49And this one actually has a bridge that is in use and it's on the National Register of
- 45:54Historic Places.
- 45:56It's right next to Melma.
- 45:58It's called the Fairfax Bridge.
- 46:00Oh, okay.
- 46:01There's nothing particularly spooky about it other than the fact that it was originally named
- 46:08the O-Farrell Bridge.
- 46:11Yeah.
- 46:12Yeah.
- 46:13It's spelled like you're, so you're going to become a barrel.
- 46:16Yeah.
- 46:17And then I bring up this bridge right before your wedding.
- 46:19I know.
- 46:20We're going to be in a little bit of a wedding theme today.
- 46:24Yeah.
- 46:25So I know I keep saying we're not talking about Bigfoot, but we're going to talk a little
- 46:32bit about Bigfoot again.
- 46:34So there have been at least six reported Bigfoot in this area.
- 46:41A park ranger ran into a hairy biped on Mount Rainier in the summer of 2006.
- 46:51And they heard something slamming rocks together, which is like that's a big sign of a Bigfoot
- 46:58by it.
- 46:59Yeah.
- 47:00They like either like knocking on trees or like hitting rocks together.
- 47:03I feel like I've heard the tree knocking thing.
- 47:06I didn't realize the rocks.
- 47:07Yeah.
- 47:08So I'm just afraid of everything that's outside.
- 47:10It's like great.
- 47:11But Bigfoot, I feel like, I don't know.
- 47:16Well, I guess if they kill you, then you don't report it and nobody ever knows.
- 47:22Yeah.
- 47:23I think the Bifits don't like typically like kill that many people, but I think they kind of
- 47:27do.
- 47:28I mean, it's hard to say.
- 47:29Yeah.
- 47:30Ooh.
- 47:31I think there's like reports of people disappearing and stuff, but I don't know.
- 47:34I like to look on the good side of Bigfoot.
- 47:36I think that's why I'm like putting it off, you know.
- 47:38Because I think I want to like them.
- 47:41They thought it was bear, but they ended up seeing a dark brown leg and I assume like not
- 47:48a bear leg because like human and bear legs look a little bit different.
- 47:51Yeah.
- 47:52I kind of wore like a human leg and then they saw a face.
- 47:57Okay.
- 47:58So that's definitely not a bear because like a sh*t.
- 48:02I assume they say face.
- 48:03I assume they mean like a human face.
- 48:06If it was a bear face, I don't think they would have written this story out.
- 48:09Okay.
- 48:10Oh, fair.
- 48:11I guess that's fair.
- 48:12Maybe.
- 48:13I don't know.
- 48:14Fair themed.
- 48:15A biologist was out there one day and ended up seeing a brown human like creature stand
- 48:21up in the forest and run away on two legs.
- 48:26Okay.
- 48:27So again, probably not a bear because if a bear were to run, I don't run that way.
- 48:31They don't run that way.
- 48:32They don't run that way.
- 48:34Yeah.
- 48:35They're not cartoon bears.
- 48:36They're not bears.
- 48:37I'm looking for a picnic basket.
- 48:44Can you imagine just seeing a bear walking around with like a tie?
- 48:48It's so cute.
- 48:50It's so cute.
- 48:51Adorable.
- 48:52Don't give it a hug.
- 48:55I know.
- 48:56Probably also like if you have a picnic basket, just like toss it and run.
- 49:01You know, you probably can't share it with the bear.
- 49:05That's a much.
- 49:06They're not big on sharing their bears.
- 49:09They're like, I have a bear of an appetite.
- 49:13So there was a hobby prospector out on Mount Rainier looking around and I'm not really
- 49:23sure like what a prospector means.
- 49:27We can check.
- 49:29Like I can look it up.
- 49:31Yeah.
- 49:32Okay.
- 49:36A prospector is someone looking for mineral deposits.
- 49:38Oh, okay.
- 49:39They're usually after gold.
- 49:40It's a type of explorer, but one with a specific purpose.
- 49:46So I feel like that could even be just in terms of like looking for land that can be developed
- 49:53and things like that.
- 49:54Like depending on the point in history and whatever the context is, but okay.
- 50:01Minerals.
- 50:02Yeah, after rocks.
- 50:04They said that he was hobbyist.
- 50:05So he's just out there looking for pretty rocks.
- 50:08Yeah.
- 50:09Basically like same.
- 50:11Okay.
- 50:12So this man's was out there looking for his pretty rocks and ended up having a face to face
- 50:17encounter with another prospector.
- 50:22Maybe.
- 50:23Maybe it's a big but prospector.
- 50:28So he ended up having an encounter with a reddish brown hairy humanoid figure that was
- 50:34on all fours.
- 50:35But he kind of have like wrinkly patchy skin.
- 50:38Like maybe he had like a skin disease.
- 50:41Oh.
- 50:42Or like a dog with like too many things that like it just all the time.
- 50:46Yeah.
- 50:47Yeah.
- 50:48And it was so creepy.
- 50:50Like big raccoon feet.
- 50:53It sounds kind of like a bear.
- 50:56Oh, but it had like a human face.
- 51:01Yeah.
- 51:02It says a short muzzle.
- 51:05Oh my God.
- 51:06You know who I'm thinking of.
- 51:08Fuck.
- 51:09What's his name?
- 51:10From Guardians of the Galaxy.
- 51:11It's like he looks kind of like a yes.
- 51:13Yeah.
- 51:14Yeah.
- 51:15He doesn't have a short enough muzzle.
- 51:16I don't think I think probably there's more of a coon muzzle.
- 51:18Yeah.
- 51:19Well, she it.
- 51:21And it had disturbing sky blue eyes.
- 51:26And they were like in a stare down.
- 51:28So he had like a stare down with these sky blue creepy eyes.
- 51:33So I'm not sure what this is.
- 51:37It doesn't sound like an animal that would be there.
- 51:40It doesn't really sound like a big foot.
- 51:43Not really familiar with whatever that is.
- 51:46Yeah.
- 51:47I'm trying to think.
- 51:48Yeah, that was like completely naked like the gumber rule or something.
- 51:52Oh, yeah.
- 51:53I think that was like a naked mole rat type.
- 51:56Yeah.
- 51:57I can't think of anything that really seems like it like ideally matches up.
- 52:03Like it checks all the boxes, you know?
- 52:05Let me look up because I'm like it kind of does remind me of the gumber rule.
- 52:10Let's see.
- 52:11A fat black bear.
- 52:13Oh, it is completely hairless.
- 52:16It's a fritz prominent eyebrows.
- 52:18Remember that.
- 52:19He's got the what's his face?
- 52:21What's his butt?
- 52:22The rock.
- 52:23Levi.
- 52:24What is it?
- 52:25Levy Eugene.
- 52:26Oh, you love me.
- 52:27You love me.
- 52:28You love me.
- 52:29You're just I mean they're expressive.
- 52:37They're their own character.
- 52:42Do you think they have their own Instagram?
- 52:45They should.
- 52:46Someone's done it.
- 52:48Someone has to have right.
- 52:50All right.
- 52:51Well, that's that is Mount Rainier.
- 52:55There is actually some other stuff about Mount Rainier.
- 52:58Like I know I think there's some other creepy shit about it.
- 53:01Like yeah, I'm sure in it's a whole last mountain.
- 53:05I know.
- 53:06I can't remember if it was this mountain when we were talking to what's his butt James
- 53:12from the Margie's outdoor store.
- 53:16Yes.
- 53:17Was it not Rainier?
- 53:19He was saying has like some sort of door in it that like you were supposed to fly in
- 53:23it on him.
- 53:24Oh, I think so.
- 53:25I feel like yeah.
- 53:27So also that.
- 53:28Yeah.
- 53:29So that might be this mountain.
- 53:30Might be another mountain.
- 53:31I don't know about.
- 53:32I mean, maybe just fact check us.
- 53:34Go back and listen to that and make sure we're talking about the right mountain.
- 53:38You go do the research.
- 53:39Okay.
- 53:40That is so helpful.
- 53:41We're like really busy steaming napkins.
- 53:45So I'm going to blink when I do some people like to brag.
- 53:52I'm over here just trying not to be too pressing and missing it.
- 53:56I'm so nervous.
- 53:57I'm so nervous.
- 53:58I don't want to talk about it.
- 54:02We'll go back.
- 54:04I have a literal problem buying concert tickets.
- 54:09It's my toxic trait.
- 54:11Yeah.
- 54:12I broke money.
- 54:14Real.
- 54:15I mean money.
- 54:16Society is big.
- 54:17It's fine.
- 54:18Everything's big.
- 54:19Well, anyway, do you think we should do some tarot for this spirited mountain goddess who
- 54:31won't eat you in her cave?
- 54:34Probably.
- 54:35Yes.
- 54:36Let's do some tarot.
- 54:40I brought my big deck.
- 54:42I think it's the deck card.
- 54:44Okay.
- 54:45Yeah.
- 54:46They're playing cards.
- 54:47So we're going to do a little card card.
- 54:49What's it called?
- 54:50Cartography.
- 54:51Cartography or Cartamansi?
- 54:52Cartamansi?
- 54:53Is it?
- 54:54Okay.
- 54:55Hold on.
- 54:56That's weird because I was thinking Cartamansi too, but I was like that's big.
- 55:01I'm we made that up.
- 55:02Are you sure that?
- 55:03No.
- 55:04Cartamansi is fortune telling by means of playing cards.
- 55:08Okay.
- 55:09What's Cartography?
- 55:10Oh, wait.
- 55:11Is that like a mapping thing?
- 55:12Look up Cartography.
- 55:13Yeah, we're sure.
- 55:14The thing.
- 55:15The science or practice of drawing maps.
- 55:18Yeah.
- 55:19I pulled that straight out of my B hole.
- 55:22Like you guys, Cassie is a scientist and a witch.
- 55:28Do you want to hear something funny?
- 55:29I actually have a funny story.
- 55:31Obviously.
- 55:32We're going to talk more about this place.
- 55:33I think in a creepy people chronicles because I kind of have like a little story.
- 55:37All right.
- 55:38But this is funny.
- 55:40So, I went to Paxton Gate, which is like a creepy story.
- 55:44It has crystal little bones.
- 55:45Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:46Like a bunch of weird creepy stuff.
- 55:48I went to go to there.
- 55:50So, there was this tray of bones that said like raccoon baculum and whatever baculum and
- 55:57baculum.
- 55:58And I was like, oh, are these penises?
- 56:00That one.
- 56:01Are these penis bones?
- 56:02No.
- 56:03And one of the girls in the village is like, uh-huh.
- 56:06And my mom was like, how do you know that?
- 56:08And I was like, how do you know that?
- 56:11I have no clue.
- 56:13If you were to ask me what a penis bone would call, I have no idea.
- 56:17She literally didn't know.
- 56:18We had to Google it.
- 56:19I still don't remember.
- 56:20But seeing the word and seeing like the bone, I guess.
- 56:23I'm doing this because like the raccoon one was like this big.
- 56:28I didn't buy one.
- 56:29I should have.
- 56:30I should have.
- 56:31Maybe next time I go.
- 56:34She's like, I'm ready for the bachelor at party.
- 56:38That's what I'm bringing to kill on bachelor at.
- 56:40I'm going to bring a shit ton of animal penis bones.
- 56:43Okay.
- 56:44So, I'm standing there like, I don't know how I know this stuff.
- 56:50Like I just like absorbs stuff from somewhere and like pull it out of my bum.
- 56:54So, I thought this is like, why I'm good at trivia and I don't know why.
- 56:58Like people always tell me I'm really good at trivia.
- 57:01Pretty good at like jeopardy too sometimes.
- 57:03Did you know the animals had bones in their penises?
- 57:07I mean, I guess not.
- 57:10I don't really spend that much time thinking about animal penises.
- 57:16But I mean, me neither.
- 57:20She's like, it's only my Roman Empire.
- 57:26That might be true.
- 57:30Honestly, okay, not in a creepy way though, only in like just like Macabre.
- 57:36Just like you know, like a, what do they call it?
- 57:39Like monster bait porn type of way.
- 57:44I read nasty books.
- 57:46Nice.
- 57:47There was one about a moth.
- 57:49Okay, why don't really want to know how to suck her.
- 57:53It's fine.
- 57:54Okay, we're going to do a tarot.
- 57:56We're going to let that simmer with you guys.
- 57:59And if you need book recommendations, hit me up or a support group, you know.
- 58:06Okay.
- 58:09Tarot.
- 58:10We're doing tarot for Mount Rainier.
- 58:14Territ.
- 58:15We might look a little different.
- 58:16If you're on the video, we took a break.
- 58:18That we did.
- 58:19Cassie's gonna shuffle again.
- 58:22She's going to Shufle.
- 58:25She's not really sure why.
- 58:27She wasn't feeling it.
- 58:29Oh, cute.
- 58:30Oh, do you know what card that is?
- 58:32There's no clue because it's backwards.
- 58:34Okay, flip it.
- 58:35What card is it, Cassie?
- 58:37Let me see.
- 58:38Oh, what is that?
- 58:42Cassie, what is it?
- 58:44Oh, Cassie, you look so pretty.
- 58:45Your hair is so, so pretty.
- 58:48What card is that?
- 58:49Cassie?
- 58:50Oh my god.
- 58:51Don't keep us in suspense.
- 58:52What card is it?
- 58:53How did you get to my microphone?
- 58:55I know.
- 58:56What card was that?
- 58:58It was the fool.
- 58:59What?
- 59:00How funny.
- 59:02Earlier though, should we talk about our conversation?
- 59:05Okay, hold on.
- 59:06I think I have to show and tell them.
- 59:08Okay.
- 59:09I planned to use this deck because it's big fun.
- 59:13And I was like, oh, cool.
- 59:14And then, you know, I took out the cards and very cool back, but very disappointing because
- 59:24they're just playing cards.
- 59:26They're just playing cards.
- 59:28And I was like, oh, but we better draw the fool because big fun is on the fool card.
- 59:35And I was like, so we have to draw the fool.
- 59:37And then I was like, ah, fuck these cards.
- 59:38Like they're boring because what are the chances that we'll draw the fool?
- 59:44And look for that Joker card.
- 59:47And I even had this.
- 59:48I had it set it out.
- 59:49You set it out.
- 59:50And I was like, we're going to just use this and set it out.
- 59:52And I was like, man, just going to put it away.
- 59:55So serves me right.
- 59:57We're going to go ahead and set that right out there.
- 1:00:00And I wish that we had recorded that conversation because I feel like no one believes me.
- 1:00:05I mean, I barely believe you and I was here.
- 1:00:09So I'm such a fucking witch, dude.
- 1:00:12I can't even.
- 1:00:13Oh, okay.
- 1:00:14Oh, it's so funny.
- 1:00:16Okay.
- 1:00:17So should I even read this?
- 1:00:18Do we need to at this point?
- 1:00:19Is that?
- 1:00:20I think we still need to read it.
- 1:00:23I'll go ahead and look in the little book too.
- 1:00:26And read that.
- 1:00:27Yeah.
- 1:00:28Okay.
- 1:00:29All right.
- 1:00:30So our key words are innocence, beginnings, trust, hope, and opportunity.
- 1:00:40The first card in the major arcana, arcana, the fool begins your journey toward wisdom.
- 1:00:48Who's the first one?
- 1:00:50I think after Cassidy forever and ever and ever, amen.
- 1:00:54And the wisdom never comes.
- 1:00:56Yeah.
- 1:00:57This is an abominable, mountainous.
- 1:00:59I guess.
- 1:01:00I, okay.
- 1:01:02Slightly before I forget like what I'm talking about.
- 1:01:04We did talk about like people hiking up the mountain.
- 1:01:07And I just feel like that's kind of like a fool's journey to like hiking up the mountain.
- 1:01:12And it's so dangerous.
- 1:01:13And yeah.
- 1:01:15And then the traditional sort of deck that most of us are somewhat familiar with.
- 1:01:22It also looks like you're standing on the edge of a cliff or on a mountain.
- 1:01:26So for sure.
- 1:01:27I feel like that fits.
- 1:01:28So weird because we pulled this twice during my summer episodes.
- 1:01:31We pulled it for the K1 too.
- 1:01:34Huh.
- 1:01:35We are now motherfuck.
- 1:01:37Just a fool's summer.
- 1:01:39She's chasing you.
- 1:01:42Okay.
- 1:01:43And we drew this in the upright.
- 1:01:45Okay.
- 1:01:46When the fool appears in a reading, it usually means you're about to embark on a new way
- 1:01:52of life.
- 1:01:55You're open to new experiences and to discovering what lies around the bend.
- 1:02:00Up the mountain.
- 1:02:03Even if you're not sure about the path you've chosen, you have faith that everything will
- 1:02:08turn out well.
- 1:02:10The hiking path.
- 1:02:12You probably feel out of sync with the rest of the world, but in a good way.
- 1:02:22You hear the beat of a different drummer and you're ready to march to it.
- 1:02:26Oh, wait.
- 1:02:28Holy fucking shit you guys.
- 1:02:31What?
- 1:02:32Okay.
- 1:02:33So, obviously it's been a minute since we actually recorded the bulk of the episode.
- 1:02:37And I kind of like went through and reminded my own self what it was about.
- 1:02:42Yeah.
- 1:02:43Do you remember we talked about the plane crash with the Marines and the person heard like
- 1:02:48marching outside of the tent all night?
- 1:02:51Oh my gosh.
- 1:02:53And you just said like march to the beat of the literally we talked about like marching.
- 1:02:58That's crazy.
- 1:02:59That's wild.
- 1:03:00Okay.
- 1:03:01Happy I remembered that.
- 1:03:02I was trying really hard to like remind myself what this was about because I thought I
- 1:03:07know it's really important with the terror out to know the episodes about.
- 1:03:12Wow.
- 1:03:13So cool.
- 1:03:14Okay.
- 1:03:15Let's see.
- 1:03:16Okay.
- 1:03:16Should I read all three bullets?
- 1:03:17Go for it.
- 1:03:18Okay.
- 1:03:19Read Iverna what's going to come up.
- 1:03:21Okay.
- 1:03:22In a reading about money, the fool urges caution.
- 1:03:26You may be too trusting or you may be naive when it comes to handling financial matters.
- 1:03:34This card can also represent the first stage of a business or investment.
- 1:03:40Examine details carefully.
- 1:03:42There was a ghost town.
- 1:03:45I'm pretty sure.
- 1:03:47Yes.
- 1:03:48You know, like starting up a town and then you know it doesn't go so well later when it was
- 1:03:57like a mining town.
- 1:03:58You know, I think it wasn't.
- 1:04:00I think it wasn't.
- 1:04:01You know, it's like this is no longer needed.
- 1:04:04Pay attention to your intuition, not only logic.
- 1:04:10If the reading is about your work, the fool can indicate starting a new job, project or
- 1:04:16business venture, beginning a course of study or going on a business trip.
- 1:04:22You're looking forward to this adventure or new direction and its possibilities.
- 1:04:28Notice the opportunity with an open mind.
- 1:04:31You have a lot to learn.
- 1:04:35In a reading about love, this card often means beginning a romance or moving into a new
- 1:04:41stage in an existing relationship.
- 1:04:45A new relationship may feel fated as if you've met your soulmate.
- 1:04:51Enjoy this period of joy, openness and excitement.
- 1:04:56Or did you meet Bigfoot and find us big footprints and handprints that made you look like a toddler?
- 1:05:03I don't know.
- 1:05:10The quest for meaning always takes us into the unknown.
- 1:05:16That's what it's about.
- 1:05:17This fool card is so like about adventure and going into the unknown and yeah.
- 1:05:25I don't know if you recall the point where you stop and then you need a pass to go the
- 1:05:33rest of your way at the moment.
- 1:05:35It's like the little camp.
- 1:05:37And back in the day, the Native Americans wouldn't take people up there because they were
- 1:05:41just scared of it.
- 1:05:43They were like, yeah, probably no for you.
- 1:05:46That seems dangerous, you guys.
- 1:05:49You guys are really wearing practical footwear.
- 1:05:52I bet people did not listen.
- 1:05:55You know, white people.
- 1:05:57Am I right?
- 1:05:59Because the, what spirit, the mountain spirit, spirit of the mountain to Homa will get you.
- 1:06:04Swallow you into her mouth, her maw.
- 1:06:09Please know.
- 1:06:10That's so cool that we got like a bunch of cards on these.
- 1:06:15I like it.
- 1:06:16It's mountainy episodes.
- 1:06:17It's so much fun.
- 1:06:19Okay, I'm going to read the little story in the Pacific Northwest.
- 1:06:26Terror booklet.
- 1:06:27It's a sea otter.
- 1:06:31Navite, spontaneity, innocence, carefree, living in the moment.
- 1:06:36Yellow.
- 1:06:37I'm assuming that's an ad in.
- 1:06:42No, so is it right here.
- 1:06:44Beginning a journey.
- 1:06:45A leap.
- 1:06:46Don't leave off the mountain.
- 1:06:51No.
- 1:06:53The otter had never left the bay.
- 1:06:55Why would he?
- 1:06:56The water was warm and the abalone, abalone.
- 1:06:59Abalone.
- 1:07:00What the fuck is abalone?
- 1:07:02We'll talk about it later.
- 1:07:04Like your mom and I'm like, um, like the abalone.
- 1:07:12And the abalone plentiful.
- 1:07:15It's a fish.
- 1:07:16Kind of figured it was something that otters eat.
- 1:07:18Yeah.
- 1:07:19You're like, but what do otters eat?
- 1:07:22It's not a fish.
- 1:07:23I lied.
- 1:07:24It's so I was like, okay, so you gave me an abalone shell.
- 1:07:28Oh, I did.
- 1:07:29I said fish, but I meant like shell fish.
- 1:07:33I don't think it's technically.
- 1:07:35It's a, it's a mullisk.
- 1:07:37Oh.
- 1:07:38Yeah.
- 1:07:39Okay.
- 1:07:40It's a mullisk that eats algae.
- 1:07:42And then sea otters eat the mullisk.
- 1:07:45And then they crack it open on their test with a little rock.
- 1:07:47Oh gosh.
- 1:07:48Okay.
- 1:07:49I love the zoo.
- 1:07:53So cute.
- 1:07:55This was where all the other otters lived and no one had ever left.
- 1:07:59Well, probably.
- 1:08:00Uh, okay.
- 1:08:01So did they or didn't they?
- 1:08:04I mean, I feel like they probably did.
- 1:08:06I don't know.
- 1:08:07It says, well, probably.
- 1:08:08And that's the end of the sentence.
- 1:08:09Oh, all right.
- 1:08:11In the evenings, floating in the raft of a hundred other otters with his favorite rock,
- 1:08:17talked to securely under his arm to break the arbolones.
- 1:08:20Oh, sure, sure.
- 1:08:22He would stare out over the endless golden pink expanse of the ocean.
- 1:08:27His companions warned him of orcas and sharks, massive swells and no kelp to cling to, but
- 1:08:35he longed to touch the glowing wave crest to dive and roll in the liquid goals.
- 1:08:41Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:42This totally reminds me of like climbing a mountain like you can stop where the view is beautiful.
- 1:08:46But like if you want to get there up there and like touch the, touch the crest one morning,
- 1:08:52stomach full of crab and urchin and nervousness, he started swimming.
- 1:08:58Before he realized what he was doing, he left the raft behind.
- 1:09:02He pepped on alert for orcas.
- 1:09:05Yes.
- 1:09:06Be alert.
- 1:09:07Surely.
- 1:09:08Don't call me.
- 1:09:09Surely.
- 1:09:11Surely there was abalone outside the little bay.
- 1:09:17And if not, there would be something else.
- 1:09:19He had his rock and his wits and how much else.
- 1:09:25It would be enough.
- 1:09:26Well, probably.
- 1:09:27Oh, it's just like such an adventure.
- 1:09:32Yeah.
- 1:09:33The climber.
- 1:09:34Spirit.
- 1:09:35Seriously.
- 1:09:36Ah, so cool.
- 1:09:37That's cute.
- 1:09:38Yay, we did it.
- 1:09:40Like it.
- 1:09:41Oh.
- 1:09:42Have a creepiest day.
- 1:09:44See you next Tuesday.
- 1:09:45See you next Tuesday.
- 1:09:46Unless you're at the top of a mountain, like fucking get it.
- 1:09:53I have to burp.
- 1:10:02I got to do it from the back.
- 1:10:05I need a pat.
- 1:10:09I feel like coming up and it won't.
- 1:10:12Yeah, I'm like a baby.
- 1:10:13Be the baby.
- 1:10:14Be the baby.
- 1:10:15Be the baby.
- 1:10:16I saw my mom burp me.
- 1:10:18I honestly have anyone who's around if I need to burp and then right there.
- 1:10:22I'll be like, can you please pat me on the back?
- 1:10:24And it worked.
- 1:10:25It works, though.
- 1:10:27Chris, get in here.
- 1:10:28You should burp, Cassie.
- 1:10:29Can you be the standby in case we need to be burp?
- 1:10:34He's like, good God.
- 1:10:37Do I not do enough for this show already?
- 1:10:41When we make enough money, we're going to have someone on standby.
- 1:10:44We're going to hire someone on standby to burp us if we need it.
- 1:10:48Some talent or artists, they have a writer.
- 1:10:53Some of them have certain industries of fluffer.
- 1:10:57We'll have a burper.
- 1:10:59Can we also have a fluffer?
- 1:11:01Okay, I'm done.
- 1:11:02Let's keep going! (pnwhauntsandhomicides.com)
