- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it was a bittersweet moment.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't itch like it did.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: It feels a little bit better.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's not quite as hot and of course right after I trim it off.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now we're supposed to get snow here.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think tonight sometimes.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: So you know, it's the fun of 85 degrees yesterday snow tonight.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: 70 degrees the next day, you know the Midwest, it just it can never make up its mind.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's nuts.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm kind of worried that we're going to have a snow day tomorrow and I of course have like a bunch of things going on, but you know that's a
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: It is what it is.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_02]: You get all the stuff.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: That's parenthood and the adulthood all rolled into one.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: But like I said, this is building the Broncos man.

- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Broncos.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: I love it, Ernie.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't even know to say, um, the one team of the Broncos, heck, make a super team of all the other 31 teams, Ernie still take in the Broncos.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: So, appreciate your Ernie, hope you're doing well.

- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate it.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we got NHL playoffs, Avalanche play in the Minnesota wild tonight.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: Let's go abs.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Shall we go ahead, what'd you say?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: Did you watch, did you watch game one?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I don't have very much time right now.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: And as you can probably tell from our text messages with each other, it is
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: football, my actual job, family, and then working out.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_02]: Because I've been trying to get in the mountain shape as much as possible.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: So, no, I've not watched much TV as a way.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: We did watch, we did finish it took us like four years, but we finished the second season of Andor, and then we watched Rogue One over three nights because we're old and we only have like an hour to watch things anymore.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's what I've been up to.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I get that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now, it was at nine to six.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: for a hockey game.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it was nuts, goals galore.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's more, that's more points on the board than in a Iowa game.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: Of yesterday, they got an offense now.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to see Shiloh in the house.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: Heck yeah, we love this community too.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: You're great.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: You're definitely a huge member of that community.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: We got shades coming in.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Hey y'all.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: Hey y'all.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: See Hillary Duff's making a comeback?
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: You did your best.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's my childhood right there.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: OK, Hillary Duff making a comeback.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: She is a nice looking lady.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's for sure.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: Roy Osborn says, hey, they're all watching you guys and the apps at the same time, what a night.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, heck yeah, let's go abs.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_02]: Man, they could have played this game outside.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: With the amount of snow, I saw that they're supposed to get like potentially up to 20 plus inches at 9,000 feet elevation.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: The ski resorts that are still open might have a happy mother's day.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see, Den Ben in the house as hello from New Mexico.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: We got green chili.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: Go Broncos.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I guess there's a little bit of a rivalry between New Mexico and Colorado.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: And that comes to the hatch chili.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: God bless it.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take either of them.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, you got it.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of like Iowa versus Nebraska and corn.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: I guess maybe to some extent, maybe not as.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: aggressive as I want Nebraska can be with the football teams as well, but to heck, send me some good green chili and I'll, I'll dub new Mexico the king of it.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that'd be a fun competition.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, since we're kind of neutral parties.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: We're not really didn't variety or new Mexico people.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, so we'd be able to judge that for you if you ever want to send in any our way.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'll definitely drive to Denver to try it out with Nick.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_02]: Coffee, beer, either of those whiskey, also steak, God, if you guys gonna do that.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: Or I only have like one steak since we had our dinner in Vegas.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: Wife's the vegetarian side is to don't get as many opportunities, but I wake up, dream and still.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: And it's good to see you then, Ben.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_02]: Appreciate you, Paul.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: Talk about O.G.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: says, O.G.'
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: 's birthday, happy birthday wish to my friend, appreciate you.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin Seves has a decision to potentially give her to Boston, J.M.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: just financial or something else.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Kevin, I don't know where this is, I mean, we've heard it too.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if there's something that I'm unaware of, or just like, chit chat going on, but I would keep my ear to the ground on all those guys, as well as the depth-wide receivers, as well.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_02]: The, I mean, with MIMS, potentially Franklin, just not that Denver couldn't use those players by any means, but if you obtain capital for those players, it gives you flexibility to,
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: go out and get other players, right?
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, not just the draft, like Denver right now is sit within extra fourth round pick.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say they're not happy with their tight end room, or line-backer room, can they get surplus value on one of those trades of those value positions in spin it for a veteran and just reallocate where your value is on the roster.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: So this moss and JMAX stuff has been talked about for a bit.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: There was some deals potentially on the table, but day two didn't work out in a way that the trade materialized.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: But there's been more than smoke regarding trading a cornerback to make room for Jaday Baron or Jaday Baron just outright being in one of these guys out and then you really are losing value on this kind of player.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the nice thing the Broncos have right now is they actually have not too much depth, but they've they've got enough where you feel comfortable if you lose Moss or J Mac that you still have Chris Abram strain.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: Baron that you want to get into the starting line up, so it's not even like you lose one and you have to just pray nobody gets hurt you still have some decent backups that you feel comfortable with.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: But.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to have to be the right kind of deal.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I know team showed in the draft, they're not really willing to give up 2027 capital.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Even right now, the AJ Brown trade, the rumors are, it's like 2028 first round pick, and more, rather than a 2027 first round pick.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: So it just really shows how much the NFL right now is really valuing that 2027 draft.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: Their thing and this thing's going to be one of the best they've seen in a while.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: Probably the best sense.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it won't be 2011.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: That was the, probably the best draft class of my lifetime.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I mean, 2024 ends up being incredible.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: 2021 ends up being incredible.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: And sometimes I don't know if you ever think this, Carl, I kind of have like the sliding doors, thoughts, like Denver's not head first on picks.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_02]: in many years, right, like in the last six years, three of them maybe that first time, I don't even know.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: But the years they haven't had first, the years they have had first shrimp picks, it's been the freaking year to have a first shrimp pick.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: And like in the rain, we're at matters too.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like when they gave up their pick, that go to Seattle, they give up more than this, but whether spoon across, good players, good players, phonics is a starting rookie contract quarterback who's working his way into the top.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: 10 or better, potentially 12 of her better, Patrick's or Tandy fans of play are the year.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just really just some kind of like luck.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like to get the franchise quarterback at 12, bonus goes number one in this class.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe two, maybe they like Mendoza more, I don't know.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: But I mean, just, it's landed.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: Even though we haven't had the picks, the years they have had the picks.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's been the right years.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'm glad they still other 2027 first from pick that they didn't have to give that up to to get wild this year and so it should be a fun draft next year even if we're picking that 30 it could be like we were picking a 15 in this last draft just the way it's it's looking.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it's not just the quarterback's next year.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, there's probably three blue chip players that value positions that are not quarterbacks right now.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, that can change.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, I'm a psychopath.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_02]: I just have to talk about it for a second, everyone.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: But you have Dylan Stewart from South Carolina, freaky, eddressure, unbelievable as a true freshman.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: Overshadowed somebody who might be even better in Colin Simmons from Texas, who's incredible, and he got Jeremiah Smith, who everybody knows why receiver.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen some comparisons due to DT.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if he's got the yak that DT has, but really good, and then you got, I mean, some good offensive tackles as well, some defensive tackles and a lot of quarterback.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, should be an interesting draft next season, and yeah, teams are starting to budget and open to have a little extra.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: cat cash picks in their pocket.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: Also, we got to give a shout out to our friend, film a golf one coming in here says good evening, Nick Carl looking, Carl looking younger.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's you're still handsome Carl, but I do miss the beer.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_02]: Um, some of it's not here because dinner's happening downstairs.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so he's hanging out.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so he'd rather be there.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, who do we want to see step up the most besides
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: somebody could hear that in like, you know, blow their lid, be like, what do you mean?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: He was great.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like struggle the first half of the year.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: And we've decided about it before on here.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's say the wrong goes at tight end.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: Just an intimate tight end goes from an F to a B.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: That's great.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: You move the needle, not as much as if your quarterback goes from a C to a B.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a pop quiz on your grade and like the overall amount of your grade versus,
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: a 30% final, right?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like the quarterback matters so much.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: So seeing Bonyx step up and be, you know, I'm not just like a talking segment of Bonyx MVP.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: Now let's move on next, next topic of really in there.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: The stats, the overall level of play to balance it.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: But for me,
- 12:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoping to see step up, I'm probably going to steal Carl's here to somewhat, and this is kind of the theme of our show today as well, but I'm going to go a big picture of roster here.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just hoping that Jalen Waddle comes and it's like, holy bleep, like the dolphins, they had a guy, two of them was not very good, little bit hidden by Tyrie Kill.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_02]: Now he's with Sean Peyton Davis Web, he really knows what he's doing.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: dealing model, top 10 conversation at wide receiver, which also means bone X is dealing too.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_02]: So that's who I'm 27 years old, right?
- 12:48[SPEAKER_02]: Something like that.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm really hoping it is, I hope the answer is dealing more.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a great choice.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's your big move of the off season to get you from making the FC championship to making the Super Bowl possibly winning and adding a dynamic player like that
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mims can do some of it, but not to the consistency of water, and Franklin can do some of it, but not to the consistency of water.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so yeah, you bring in a guy that could go out there, get you 1,400 yards receiving.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, be a top 10 receiver and be that threat that teams have to worry about, but they have to maybe drop an extra safety back or stay more in their
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: guy that since we're talking, the... Or to still hit explosives when they are in dime or two high safety shells because teams, Denver's personnel isn't really built at tight end to four teams in the base or single high right now.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: So you got to create explosives while they're still doing that is what it is.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Wattled me right.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so our topic today, that's in the single day my
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: We would pick five because we're done not done talking about the draft.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: But the reality is The draft picks aren't going to give you a whole lot this year.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're always the shiny new players on the team.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: And what could they bring?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe this rookie all send us this, but reality is most of the time rookies are not giving you a whole lot.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, even even Patrick Surtan, when he first came here, he was actually a backup when things were starting out.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: And a couple injuries, all of a sudden, here he is.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's starting and now he's starting into the all-pro that he is.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: Von Miller, he was not all pro his rookie season.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: You're too he was.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: But it took them a little bit of time to get acclimated to the league and to be able to play the level.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: So our topic today is now actually looking to, okay, who are the second and third year players that could be those impact players that maybe didn't do much their rookie season or their second season.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: But now we'll be dependent upon a little bit more and could be those impact guys and and I think one that I think really doesn't need to step up.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that he could probably score as many touchdowns again, just because he scored 10 touchdowns last year, but RJ Harvey, I think this is a pretty easy one just because like I said, if we're getting teams into nickel and dime packages, well, then you're going to have to find some explosive plays in the run game.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's how you're going to have to do it.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: And JK Dobbins, he can get a few, but that's not really the name of his game.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: He can pick up the
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: and as much as I like Coleman, again, he's not gonna be that guy for you.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be turned out the four to five yards a carry kind of guy for you and pick up the tough yards, but be consistent.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it's up to RJ Harvey to be that explosive running back for us.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: And he had some of it.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: He had a few.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: The Cowboys run was one.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to remember who else he had a big run against.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, there's a cut was a tightness.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think he had a big run against the tightness as well.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: Man, maybe I, like I said, he did have a few, it's just we've got to see it out of more consistent basis than every five games.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: We've got to have one every other game where it's a big 30 yard play.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have to be a 80 yard touchdown, but a 30 yard run.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: really changes the dynamic of a game, or maybe it puts you in field goal range or scoring range, or flips the field, where you're at your own 10-yard line, and now you're at midfield, and what they thought was, hey, we got him trapped back, we're good, boom, he hits a big play for you.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a guy that really does have to take that next step for us.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: to be a great player and yeah, Jack says big run against Jacksonville.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: That was the other game that I remember him having a big run unfortunately, that Jack's full game.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: I try to forget that one as much as I can because it just, it's like everybody forgot to play football in that day for the Broncos.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: Other than my trusted blame.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: I've only myself a blame.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_02]: I had a pair of lucky socks this year and that was the first time since week to whatever their winning streak was like that was the first time since week to I hadn't worn them.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have them before that.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: I did wear them when they lost in the playoffs, but I didn't wear them then because I was finishing the drive from Denver to Iowa for Christmas.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: I was gone.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_02]: We just got here.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: I got to take care of the kid.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_02]: It probably doesn't matter.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: They looked horrible.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_02]: So my dad gave me a very hard time.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you should too.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: Shade says, I'm talking about guys leaving.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: Fight a pick, it'd be Franklin, love Pat Bryant.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_02]: Not letting Franklin go without it's a third-round pick in return in my opinion.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: Got to be a three.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: Got to be a top 100, or be the equivalent of a third.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_02]: And even then, it makes me a little skeptical because right now I'm hoarding.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoarding as much as I can for some of this talent.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: Give you, nobody's for sale, compel me.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: Roy Osborne.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_02]: I heard an interview today on the fan regarding bow injury, which I could record it and sent to you is from Doc and Denver.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: Second surgery is no big deal happens all the time.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's what it said out there as well.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: So one of those things will, we'll know more when it happens.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not gonna pretend to know I guess it is routine follow-up corrective surgery that can happen, but again, even though I'm in the medical field, I'm not an orthopedic surgeon.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna trust the docs on that.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also gonna trust Bonix to do the right thing to get himself ready as well.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not going to get worried about that until we get closer to training camp, and then they start saying, oh, you know what it'll be a week into training camp, then he'll be up and then you get to that week and then they're going, oh, no, another week, that's what I'm going to be like, okay, this is a bigger deal than than it is until then I'm not going to be too worried, you know,
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: some film work and getting yourselves into shape.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: And just kind of getting together with your team.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's not as much of the real football stuff as you will when you get to training camp.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, bonus miss and some of that.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not too worried.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's a guy that's gonna get himself into shape.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I'll ever have to worry about bonus coming to camp out of shape.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: just not in his DNA.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: So like I said, until we get to training camp and then they're talking about it in missing days, I'm not going to think too much about it.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hoping for the best and I'm not worried until I have to be worried.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, moving forward here.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Do I say hello to some more folks coming in Jackson?
- 19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Big run against Jackson.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think you Jackson, he'd know coming in here.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: And Chase got my guy here.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: Who needs to step up?
- 19:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're two year three players.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_02]: potential starting defensive linemen on a top five defense on the most important unit on the defense.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: The most important thing on the defense pass rusher, save you on Jones.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, it's going to be a battle between him and on the
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: They trade it up to get Savion Jones at 100.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: He's a gifted player, and if he steps up, I mean, that's what you need, right?
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to continuously draft development, stays out older, more expensive players.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: So if you can do that with back end of day two players, and he can become a quality starter, that would be huge.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't think we are.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: talking enough or appreciating enough what losing JFM could mean for the past rush, which is the most important thing on any defense.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: So, just sorry, sets guys up in the past rush games I can play.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: So again, I'm happy they took on the item for just again another asset there and it developmental piece in another shot at a value position.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, Savion Jones to me was the first one that came to mind when you pitched this, because right now, he's got a chance to be a starter and there's snaps to be had.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: So, Savion Jones buddy,
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get it.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let's take that step up.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: I, oh, a precursor.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that that's part of like I said, why you drafted him that year before with the idea of, hey, this is going to be a guy we're going to lean on moving forward and I want to get him this year.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, at least you got a couple of darts at the at the board and hope and that one of them steps up and does something good for you.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, then you got the was a reggae as well that it could be there and be a part of that rotation and moving around.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I still like our defensive line, but you're right.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: JFM, last year was that you known player.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: You knew exactly what you're getting from him.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's a great past-rush player.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: One on one, he's going to win those battles for you.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so now, say, be on Jones.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: On Yadam, they're going to have some incredible opportunities.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Where teams are going to be, Dublin, Zach, Zach Allen, DJ Jones.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: Malcolm Roach you know those guys are going to be getting the the bulk of teams focusing on them and saying hey we're going to trust that our guy can hold up against this second year or rookie player and if they can go out there and prove nope you made mistake by putting me one on one
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: And this defense is going to stay right there, being the number one pass Russians look all, maybe competing once a kid for the sack record, which would be crazy for three years in a row, to be right there on the edge of competing for that.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a great name for sure.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: And that was the one who came to Miami, like, it's like, because there's not,
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: big options that have come in to get in his way like right but we could talk Brian to and Franklin those are your two and three guys right but like you brought him water and we can still throw those guys out later I don't know let me talk about five second and third players we have to get to them but yeah there is not anybody coming in right now to save him like we need save young Jones to step up and he's a part of a rotation like right it's a very heavily rotated position Denver could still bring in a vet there man it'd be great if save young could come in and develop into a quality starter
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: man.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: To have a guy on that kind of rookie contract for the next three years.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then you could pay him if he's gets to that kind of level as well as that gallons, probably getting up there in age, you're kind of deciding, okay, we could probably move on and now we could move that money elsewhere.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, that would have just been incredible.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: You've talked about it.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're trying to make sure you don't have too many third contract eyes on your your roster.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: Rarely do those there contracts work out well, the mercenary kind of guys to like, yeah, two-year contract kind of like a one-year contract.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: It depends on the position of course as well.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'll kick it over to you again.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_02]: I do have some other ones here, but I don't want to still anybody from you.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'll stick with the defense of line and I'll go
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: with them moving Ellis possibly to linebacker, maybe part time.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we saw Q, oh, there we go.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: Just Michael given us the update, Aves up one R, one two, oh, Aves two to one now.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Peace.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: That was quick.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, they're up, so that's the good news right now.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll go Q Robinson just because,
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously he's a very important rotational to the piece.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get on the field.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have his opportunities.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I, he's playing some of his best football into the year that Buffalo game played great.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: Even the, the game gets patrons had himself a really good game as well.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's in line to get a few more snaps.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: I, I love, okay, I shouldn't say I love.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: I like Cooper.
- 25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Jonathan Cooper.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I've also been in the of that mindset of, I would not mind if he lost his starting job to somebody.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's good enough to be a starter and a decent starter out there for you, but he's not good enough that you're not looking to replace him at some point.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: And Hugh Robinson coming out of college, really about the only thing that held him back was injuries.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: When he was healthy and playing for Alabama, that looked good.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are some special plays that he had out there.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so if he can stay healthy, I think he could be that kind of guy that emerges and takes over as a true starting edge guy for us.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying this year, because I think it's gonna be Cooper, but I think he could really push to get a lot more snaps and be out there making plays for you.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty sure a lot of him, L.S.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: being moved was more aimed because the linebacker depth isn't good, but because what he looked like,
- 26:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's more gifted than Ellis as a pat as an athlete.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Ellis is maybe as a little bit more side-to-side for the Litterty, but the explosiveness and the power, I think, queues, queues got him there.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: Which, yeah, bit more powerful, or a little more important for the edge, but there's different ways to win Ellis still great.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_02]: Good player.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: Jettie Splash in the house, octopus red wavy, and I don't know if this is like a Detroit Red Wings, thing of the Red Wings, any good, anymore, I mean, I know there's something
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: They used to be the bane of my existence when I was in like six grade and I loved the blues.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: Chris Pronger, that was my guy, Ernie May's good to see.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, one more, good to see Ernie.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: Phil wants to see Ingraham show why he was here.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see, but definitely outside of our scope of second and third year contract players.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: Carl, I think there's one here that's pretty obvious but also not a name that most would immediately think of.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: a second or third year player starter.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely no competition.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: Are you talking punter?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he up and down last season ends up having the highest volume
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: avoiding touch backs.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was second in the, wow, first in the league in touch backs, which is in with less possessions and shorter fields, not necessarily a great statistic, also really low in the downed department, as well.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: So some of that's, you know, special teams
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: definitely could have been a better puncher for the Broncos on the whole last season.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, he is somebody again, there's no competition for him.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Denver is even signed.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: Another puncher is Jeremy Kraschall, there's no battle to be had.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: And I think with the way the new kickoff rules are, if you can actually steal a possession by
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, punting and making them take the ball from within the five, something we didn't do enough last season, that's a huge weapon.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it used to be, you know, the booming legs and if you can get it in there, every once in a while, cough and corner, that's great.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I think with the shorter fields and the less possessions because the kickoff rules and getting it for 35 or whatever it is, you need to be able to not put the team in the 20.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: It can't be touchbacks.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: Ideally, if you're kicking from your own 40,
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: Not good.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: You need a coffin corner.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: So Krasha, I was keeping that my back pocket, but I would have been so mad at you if you took it because I thought of that one after you suggested this.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to toss him out there needs needs to take a step forward wasn't terrible last season, but that's an area where I think in today's game that coffin corner ability is really even more valued.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: He was on my list.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree, I'm coming to the program, but there's, yeah, I mean, there's only so many players to pick from, so yeah, we, we're going to have some overlap for sure, but.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: There were some plays, yes, that he made last year, I think even early in the season, he showed a lot more promise than he did later in the season, like you got worse as the year went on.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I felt like he was more.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, you just felt like he was trying to aim everything just perfect and it was not not going well.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then the game wasn't that he was so bad and because it was windy.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the Raiders game.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I remember that it was really a boring game.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: I was that I was I was a enjoying adult beverages though so it was.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think I needed to get through that game.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: I was, that was, that was pathetic to watch, but he was having a terrible game.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, some of it's the wind, but as a ponte, you got to learn to adjust for that.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna happen here in the Midwest.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's gonna be some windy days out there.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're right, he's got to step up.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: It really is a big difference between pinnum and the five, or have them at the 20 of what you can do on defense.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: And especially with our defense, the way we can get after a quarterback, I mean, that could be two extra points at a possession.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: with the safety.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I just, I'm a little bit surprised that it didn't bring any competition.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they will as we closer to training camp.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that he has not done enough to say, hey, it's for sure your job this year.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't mind a little bit of competition for him.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a great choice.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: I like that one.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, people kind of forget how important that is.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: And how much that can really change a game just by having that on the field.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll go with one of those guys that somebody else had mentioned earlier, the wide receiver position, can we just put,
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Bryant and Franklin together.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: See if you're doing that, then you got to do the keep of linebackers too.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_02]: Which one are you picking?
- 31:21[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot of reagents, but if you can, if you go Franklin, I go Bryant, right?
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's, they're fighting each other.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: And that's a single tip of them.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll go Bryant just because I think there is a clearer picture for him to be on the field
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: Franklin has a lot more overlap with what water is going to be bringing to the table.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: And Franklin's not as good of a blocker.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: Where I think Pat Bright, you could move him into the little Jordan Humphrey kind of position and have them out there as that great blocker that can go give you some receiving options.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: And if you can be a hair above what you got from
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: not a hair.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit more than what you got from a little Jordan Humphrey on top of then having those other two wide receivers and Sutton and water on the field.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: It really does change the dynamic of what you can do with the run game, what you can do with the past game.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, Bright last year, he had those moments.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_01]: He had probably the best hands on the team from the wide receiver position.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they were peppering him before he got hurt.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: He was the guy they were designing everything up for.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I do, I think there could be a lot more of a game plan for him than there is Franklin.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: And if he can really take that step, kind of like Franklin did from rookie year to second year, if Brian could do that, man, we've got something in that receiving game.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, in the run game, with him being out there is a run blocker, he likes that part of the game.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he kind of, I remember when he was first drafted, he talked about that of, hey, you've got a, how do you say it?
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Something about, you got a block to get the rock or something like that.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, I think that's, yeah, I think that's pretty much what he said.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's pretty common saying, but then you saw him live it out on the field, too, where he was out there just taking guys down, really making that a priority in his game to be a good run blocker, Franklin.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: There were moments where I'd see him out there doing really good in as a run blocker.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: And he would just take a corner back down to the ground and kind of stand over him like, ah, I just did that to you.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: And then the next play, it's like, oh, I'm just kind of come up and barely put my hands on.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was very inconsistent.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the part of his game that has to improve if he expects to get any kind of playing time or I mean, like, he could be traded.
- 33:52[SPEAKER_01]: Just because the broth was going to have trouble finding that place form.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to be huge in the blocking department.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: If he's not a number one or number two at your wide receiver position, I think he's really going to struggle to be on this roster.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I should say, he'll make the roster if they don't trade him, but he's going to struggle to find playing time.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_02]: It'd be interesting, I mean, gosh, Franklin Ann Bryant, both brothers step up and luckily both are,
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: Not like totally redundant, but like if water goes down, the share gets bigger for Franklin, if Sutton goes down, you hope Bryant can be in X.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: So you have some, and I know Sean Payton would probably roll his eyes at the, you know,
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: defining the roles or the positions of the wide receiver, but still, it's nice to have that redundancy at that position.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: And there are snaps to be had, maybe not necessarily targets, but across that bridge, when we get there, gosh, I mean, the next pick a name from the hat for atlinebacker, a lot of these guys are.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_02]: one snap away from playing a majority of the snaps.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: So Jordan Turner, carrying Reed, Lavel Bailey, I mean, I'd, you guys tell me which one to pick, right now.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think I probably would lean, carrying Reed, but maybe that's more because of the special teams.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, Lavel Bailey was kind of a hot topic, entering,
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: They're going through like rookie mini camp training camp two years ago.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: Got surpassed by Turner and Reed.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: I would say for the most part, so I'll go read.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: But you want one of those guys, all those guys to step up?
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: You hopefully don't need one of those guys to step up.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's still a position.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: You've definitely got to be worried about talking.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: any kind of injury and how physical the position is too.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's tough to keep those guys healthy for an entire year.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: And Mr. Nod last year, he had a great season, but run down, they were still taking them off the field.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: It green law was healthy.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Nod was coming off the field when we were in goal line situations or third and short, second and short kind of plays.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: And not that I don't think Strenaud couldn't be okay at the run defense, but obviously they view that as a liability issue for him and so if he has to be that full time starter this year, I might be a little bit nervous about what Strenaud's going to look like and I love what he brings in coverage for sure.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: but it would not surprise me at all part of Murdoch being drafted.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's not great at coverage, but he's great at coming downhill, making a stop in the run game.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: He could be playing that green-law role where Strenot comes off on those school-line situations and Murdoch comes on the field to go make a play.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I mean, we'll just have to see how that all plays out.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, seventh round linebacker, I guess I'm not gonna expect too much from him or the undrafted guys, it's gonna be hard to expect a whole lot from them.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: But thankfully, there's still ways you can cover things up, not everything, but there's ways you can help them to not be completely lost out there, you know, thankfully they're in the middle of the field where everything kind of, you know, everything's kind of surrounding that area, you have helped, though, there's, yeah.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: But it'd be nice to have a linebacker that you don't have to worry about on the field.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: I know I'm in double dip here, but we are running, uh,
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: To the end here, and I wanted to get one, I wanted to ask you, Carl, if you thought it would be allowable.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: The Android time, it's allowed, yeah, as he's third year player, right?
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: He's older because he did it, it was an didn't make an active roster for a while, but he's technically a street free agent 2024 signing.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: So, I mean, the same thing you said for Q.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: except Tillman brings more of a edge setting presence.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: And if they're moving Ellis around more, there's opportunity there for Tillman.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I did want at least toss him out as well.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that one may be a little cheeky, because you know, he did have some opportunities before, but never made a roster of that.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think so, at least.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: But came from the UFL, USL, whatever.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, great there.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_02]: But third year player.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not past rush, right?
- 38:31[SPEAKER_02]: And if Cooper goes down, he might be the next one off the bench.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: So it would depend on what happens with Ellis.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: So very interesting.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: No, he's a good choice.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, thankfully, his first year here with us, I think he ended up with five sacks that year and did well.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Last year he had a couple big picks, not pick sixes, but he had a couple interceptions.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of weird.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: Also, it became one of our best coverage guys.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Drop it back and make a huge place.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I don't expect that every year, obviously from him, it's kind of like Nick Bonito with his couple interceptions he had.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: The odds of that happening year to year, pretty slim from the edge position.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: But still, he's finding ways to make place.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why he keeps sticking on the roster.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's why he's going to have a decent NFL career moving forward.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's with the Broncos or not,
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: So the Broncos got him for this year in the next year, right?
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's still on the cheaper constructions.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: And they might get him for...
- 39:33[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't it five years?
- 39:35[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't it wouldn't he be, it was the an exclusive rights for Agent this year is that next year?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember, I'll off the look it up or somebody at the track and look it up for us.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, they've gotten for another couple years for sure.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: And having that kind of guy is your backup.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's huge.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think about the 2015 season for the Broncos,
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Montmiller and Demarkisware were the headline, but then when you had Shaq Barrett and Shane Ray coming off the bench, you know, Shane Ray, we can talk about whether what he was, but as a backup at least, he was a decent backup option.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: And of course Shaq Barrett, then he goes and has 18 sacs for the bucks his first year with them.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: So having that level of quality behind the starters is huge.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: And until then,
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's our biggest edge guy at what about 270 pounds to 65 somewhere in there and he shows he's got an ability to hold that edge up.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, I think it's great to have him and to have him.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: If he can take that next step in his game, just even just a little bit, that's going to be huge.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's the nice thing about really most of our defense blind.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: None of them are on that, I shouldn't say none of them.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: Most of them are not on that downhill side of things.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are still on that.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we're still ascending players.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: And in the fact that they could do what they did with guys that are still ascending, that's huge.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'd say maybe, I guess you could say DJ Jones is maybe on the down part of his career, maybe?
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, gosh, you could say that for any of the third contract guys.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Sutton, potentially, just an Allen.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: wouldn't not be crazy to say he's Pete.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'll pro season, right?
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: Like, right, right.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: That means that can be good.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_02]: Heck, and the dark horse here, nobody wants to hear it, but like, certain maybe he's Pete, because just how cornerbacks tend to age.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, a lot of times their peak is year three or four in the league.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, you guys, you never know.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_02]: I know you've
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right, right.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: No, but most of that, you know, like I said, where you've got Ellis and Robinson and Tilman and I don't even say Nick Benito.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's still pretty darn young for an edge guy coming into the league.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's what 20 26 27 now, it's unlike that.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: So still very much in the prime of his career and every year we've seen him and prove from the year before.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: But he keeps proving me wrong.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'll admit that's one of those guys.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_01]: I was very much wrong on.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I think when I look at what the chiefs did in their draft, taking a guy that was kind of even smaller than Nick Benito, but had a very similar type game coming out of college, even went to the same college.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: The idea that that player's all said can turn into Nick Benito, I think it's very slim.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's many of those kinds of guys in the league.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_02]: What a hit.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_02]: That one ended up being especially considering your day two edge hit rate.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he's played like a top 10 top five pick.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_02]: I have one more Carl.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: Just one more.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_02]: We have to list him.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a bear?
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: You got to have Baron right?
- 43:02[SPEAKER_02]: Like an opportunity for him.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: They brought him in for a shrimp pick 20th overall ball hawk versatile inside outside defensive
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: We need to see him step up this year.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if he gets beat out again, maybe it's just because you, if I mean, he had a great defense, but not panicking after getting beat out last year, would be a little bit panicked this year.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: How many, what percentage of steps do you think he has to play for you to feel okay with him this year?
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: There's always the caveat of injury, changing things, any other direction.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: 65.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, this is third corner back starting snap total.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not in disagreement with you.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: I I think it would be if you think he's going to be a great player on your team.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be an injustice not to get him on the field for at least that many snaps on the season.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, one of our basic shoes last year was not getting turnovers.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's supposed to be a big part of his game.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw it last year.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: He did have a few opportunities.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: He had one pick six that was called back from a penalty.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: The stupid penalty that didn't even have anything to do with play, but that happens.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: Had another really good intersection in another game.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: And so I do.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's some some great opportunities for him.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it would be a big boom for this defense if he could come on the field and go make those plays on a more consistent basis and he's going to have those opportunities when you've got pictures staying on one side.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Moss.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: Jay Mac on the you know whatever I don't know if they're both going to be here or one of them, but especially early on he's going to be a target.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: And those are going to be some great opportunities for him.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'll save it him for last, because I figured he probably on your list, too, of the guy that has to take that big step up from year one to year two.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: You talked about how we haven't had many first round picks.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of them.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's got to go out there and prove that he can live up to the hype of what we got with Sir Tan, what we got with Bonyx.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's that next guy.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: And we need him to be the star player that they were thinking when they drafted him.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody else really stands out too much to me, Carl.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously he got Caleb Loner out there.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Lord knows I'd be incredible, but would not be betting on that by any means.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: And we listed those linebackers.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, just pick a name out of a hat.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: We need somebody to just step up.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it's a pretty good roster for the Broncos, obviously, Dylan and I went and graduated it all yesterday.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: Our month.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: There's Tuesday, yes, yesterday.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_02]: So, yeah, a lot of fun.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't list Chris Abram's drain.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: That was one who could have qualified, potentially, obviously out there.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, wait, no, he's, wait, he was a no, he would have qualified.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: 2024, John Ellis, also stepping up a linebacker.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: So there's the option still out there.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: So chat, thanks for,
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: Right along with us, prize picks all the heck good stuff.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: My guess good to see it come in and late.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the man, producing kindness, compassion, and coffee.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: Heck yeah, in fill also, I just have one of the roster looking good.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a few years since I looked at the wide receiver room and wondered, how are we gonna feed the talent we have?
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: Great feeling.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it is, I'm definitely not somebody who's proponent of greed, unless it's talent on a football roster or,
- 46:46[SPEAKER_02]: cards in katon, something like that, or just like planning your hikes, I'm going to try to get as much in as I can and try to drag friends along with stuff that makes them a question both of our sanity, them for a green and me for picking that.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: Roy says he thinks loaner will be cut.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, possibly we'll see.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: Um, might be cut but then practice squad.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's probably the most likely path, but all any final thoughts?
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's a 701 yet coffee crisp is a chocolate bar.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: Y'all don't have those in the
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I, I try it.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's, I don't know.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_02]: I have not had a coffee crisp though.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess I'll have to look for for one to try it out.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you recommend it, that's for sure.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: Coffee crisp.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_02]: Coco crisp, chocolate bar manufacturing, Canada by Nestle.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_02]: Come on, that's the stuff with your game.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: Bill, I like coffee, and I like chocolate.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot of fun.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: Hell yeah, send us some.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Carl, a lot of fun.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: Any final thoughts?
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think that's a great list.
- 47:51[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, it's going to be the second and third of your players that are really going to be the players you notice, making that next step.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: Going from Troy Franklin, as Ian even make the rosters his rookie year to second year being our number two wide receiver.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna have to see a few of those guys step up to really make up for maybe losing JFM with say beyond Jones and that kind of stuff.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: So it's gonna be fun.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great roster, but there's still a couple what if questions, just like every other team has them too.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: Broncos, I think, have probably the fewest in the league when it comes to what ifs, but they're still out there.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_02]: Man, that we talked about it through this, the draft picks of the lifeblood, draft and developed.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_02]: And now we're on Champagne mentioned, you know, year three, year four, starting to really find out about those guys, hopefully they develop into something.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's time.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's time for a lot of these guys.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: Time to get paid for the other ones that have hit the draft and develop.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: So appreciate that appreciate all you guys coming in hanging out with us today.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: and subscribe like and share as that ticker says underneath.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_02]: Make sure you check out our friends at prize picks.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: Carl, I miss the beard, but I miss you more.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I hope you're doing well.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: Hope the family is good.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: Happy Synco to Maya.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: Everyone stay safe if you are in Denver lands.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: Looks like it stops knowing, but so it's just no more.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll see, but stay safe.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_02]: Be kind, if you're getting a little sink into my mouth, step delivered, be kind, and have a greater day.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_02]: I'll see you all again, Friday morning, for Brockes for breakfast, but until then, go Brockes.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: You've been listening to a building the Broncos.
