- 0:15Speaker 1: Life of Guru Gobin's Singh, chapter thirty three. Mata sahib Khawer,
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Guru's youngest wife, died of grief very soon after
- 0:29Speaker 1: her husband. She was cremated at the shrine of Guru
- 0:33Speaker 1: har Krishan in Dillhi. When Ajit Singh, the boy adopted
- 0:38Speaker 1: by Mata Sundari, the Guru's remaining wife, grew up, she
- 0:43Speaker 1: provided him with a wife. He begot a son called
- 0:47Speaker 1: Hathi Singh. Ajit Singh imitated the late Guru as much
- 0:52Speaker 1: as possible. He used to hold court, call himself a Guru,
- 0:56Speaker 1: and entertain a retinue. He endeavored to obtain from Mata
- 1:01Speaker 1: Sundari the arms belonging to Guruhar Gownd which the late
- 1:06Speaker 1: Guru had given to sahib Kawer on her departure from Nandar.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Ajitsingh believed that if he wore them, everyone would hail
- 1:16Speaker 1: him as Guru. When he made his demand for the arms,
- 1:20Speaker 1: he was sharply reproved by Mata Sundari. On this he
- 1:25Speaker 1: drew his dagger to kill her, but some friends interposed.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Mata Sundari then cursed him, said he should forfeit his
- 1:34Speaker 1: faith and die an untimely death. One day, as he
- 1:39Speaker 1: was riding in the bazaar, his hero said to him,
- 1:42Speaker 1: Oh Guru, behold the Mohammedan's praying. The Mohammedans overheard this, and,
- 1:47Speaker 1: believing that he ridiculed their religion, reported to the emperor
- 1:52Speaker 1: that under a Mohammedan administration, the Sikhs were marking the faithful.
- 1:58Speaker 1: The Emperor, at the instant negation of a quasis, ordered
- 2:02Speaker 1: Ajit Singh to cut off his hair and appear thus
- 2:06Speaker 1: humbled before him. If he failed in this, the Emperor
- 2:09Speaker 1: reserved to himself the right to punish him as he
- 2:13Speaker 1: thought fit. Ajit Singh, fearing death, cut off his hair
- 2:18Speaker 1: and groveled before the emperor. Mata Sandhari was enraged on
- 2:23Speaker 1: hearing of this act of apostasy, and told him never
- 2:27Speaker 1: again to show her his face. She drew up a
- 2:31Speaker 1: document to the effect that though she had adopted and
- 2:34Speaker 1: cherished Ajitsingh as a son, she now renounced him. She
- 2:39Speaker 1: then entrusted Guhar Gobin's arms to the faithful Sikhs of Dilly,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and expressed her desire to live no longer in such
- 2:48Speaker 1: an evil and ill omened city. Those Sikhs, however, prevailed
- 2:53Speaker 1: on her to alter her determination. Ajit Singh, now abandoned
- 2:58Speaker 1: by the Sikhs, went to beg at Mata Sandhari's door.
- 3:03Speaker 1: She sent him money, but would never consent to see him.
- 3:07Speaker 1: A Mohammedan fakhir on whom Ajit Singh, when in good circumstances,
- 3:12Speaker 1: used to bestow money. When day met him in the
- 3:15Speaker 1: Dilli bazaar and asked for alms, Ajit Singh, and his poverty,
- 3:21Speaker 1: could only give him a few copper coins. The fokhre
- 3:24Speaker 1: was not satisfied, but followed him to his house and
- 3:28Speaker 1: further importuned him. He would not leave, but dogged his
- 3:32Speaker 1: steps as he went shooting. During the afternoon, Ajit Singh
- 3:37Speaker 1: complained to his servants of the annoyance the beggar was
- 3:40Speaker 1: causing him, whereupon they beat the man so severely that
- 3:45Speaker 1: he died. They disposed of his body by throwing it
- 3:49Speaker 1: into a well for the purpose of concealment. The fog
- 3:55Speaker 1: Here's fade gradually became known, and the emperor ordered Aji
- 4:00Speaker 1: seemed to be arrested and brought before him. Ajit Singh
- 4:03Speaker 1: refused to obey the order and put himself in a
- 4:06Speaker 1: posture of defense. His house was besieged and his adherents
- 4:11Speaker 1: fought bravely to protect him. He contrived to send his
- 4:14Speaker 1: wife and son, Hathi Singh, both disguised in soil clothes,
- 4:19Speaker 1: to Mata Sundhari. He then succeeded in escaping from his
- 4:23Speaker 1: house and concealed himself in a straw stack belonging to
- 4:27Speaker 1: Hindus who lived near the owner of the stack discovered him, and,
- 4:32Speaker 1: on hearing that a proclamation had been issued for his
- 4:35Speaker 1: arrest and formed the authorities, Ajit Singh was seized, tied
- 4:39Speaker 1: to an elephant's tail and dragged through the city. At
- 4:43Speaker 1: a turning in one of the streets, the elephant trod
- 4:46Speaker 1: on his head, upon which his brains oozed out. Mata Sundhari,
- 4:53Speaker 1: thinking her position unsafe in Dilly, on account of having
- 4:57Speaker 1: received Ajit Singh's wife and son, put into execution her
- 5:02Speaker 1: long cherished project of abandoning that city, and proceeded with
- 5:06Speaker 1: her charge to Bagatgar. The head man of the place
- 5:11Speaker 1: would not allow her through fear of the Emperor to
- 5:15Speaker 1: remain in his city. She thence went to Mathura, where
- 5:19Speaker 1: she was received with great distinction. The governor of the
- 5:22Speaker 1: city induced the Rajah of Jayapur to grant her the
- 5:27Speaker 1: revenue of two villages and also a suitable place of
- 5:30Speaker 1: residence in Mathura. Hathi Singh grew up to manhood, adopted
- 5:37Speaker 1: his father's style, and maintained a retinue of sixty mounted orderlies.
- 5:43Speaker 1: He tried to compose hymns, but inspiration failed him. He
- 5:47Speaker 1: then abstracted some from the gram sahib and wherever the
- 5:51Speaker 1: name nanak okurred inserted his own. Mata Sandharium, being informed
- 5:57Speaker 1: of this, became very wrath, abandoned High Hathi Singh and
- 6:00Speaker 1: his mother at Mathur and returned to Dilhi. During the
- 6:06Speaker 1: invasion of Ahmad Shah, Hathi Singh fled from Mathur to
- 6:11Speaker 1: bur Haanpur, where he subsequently died, leaving no male issue.
- 6:17Speaker 1: When Mata Sandhari arrived in Dili, she, by the kind
- 6:21Speaker 1: offices of Raja Ram, the emperor's minister, obtained possession of
- 6:25Speaker 1: her house and property, which had been seized by the Mohammedans.
- 6:29Speaker 1: After her departure, she spent the remainder for days there
- 6:33Speaker 1: and died in comparative worldly comfort in Sambat eighteen hundred
- 6:39Speaker 1: four a d. Seventeen hundred forty seven. Her body was
- 6:43Speaker 1: cremated near the shrine of Guru har Krishan. It will
- 6:48Speaker 1: be remembered that when the Guru evacuated Anmpur, he sent
- 6:52Speaker 1: Gulabrai and sham Singh with a letter to the Rajah
- 6:56Speaker 1: of Nahan requesting him to grant them the means of subsistence.
- 7:02Speaker 1: The Raja gave them two villages. Gulabri afterwards purchased a
- 7:07Speaker 1: non poor for sixty thousand rupees from the Klur Raja
- 7:12Speaker 1: and returned to live there. He caused himself to be
- 7:15Speaker 1: worshiped by the Sikhs and carried his unseemly pretension so
- 7:19Speaker 1: far as to actually install himself in the guru seat.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sadu Gurbash, who had been an attendant on the Guru
- 7:29Speaker 1: and had by him been left in charge of Guru
- 7:32Speaker 1: teg Bahadur shrine, remonstrated against the usurpation, whereupon Gulabra became
- 7:39Speaker 1: very angry and addressed him in offensive language. Baksh then
- 7:45Speaker 1: cursed him, saying thou and thy line shall perish in
- 7:50Speaker 1: a short time. GULABRII and his two sons died. After that,
- 7:55Speaker 1: Gulabraa's widow took the offerings of the Sikhs and remained
- 8:00Speaker 1: aimed in possession of Ananpour. When she was on the
- 8:05Speaker 1: point of death, she appointed Sir John Singh Sham Singh's son,
- 8:10Speaker 1: now old and experienced, as heir of Ananpour. His descendants
- 8:15Speaker 1: still occupied that city and receiver yearly revenue from the
- 8:20Speaker 1: Indian government and the Sikh states. A Sikh writer called Gerdis,
- 8:26Speaker 1: who lived long after the time of Guru Gobin Singh,
- 8:29Speaker 1: wrote a war in his praise, which the Sikhs appended
- 8:33Speaker 1: to the compositions of by gour Dahs, and which now
- 8:37Speaker 1: appears as the forty first War. The following paris are
- 8:42Speaker 1: extracted from it Pari fifteen. Guru Gobin was manifested as
- 8:49Speaker 1: the tenth Avatar. He repeated the name of the Creator,
- 8:52Speaker 1: who is unseen, eternal and stainless. He established the Calsa,
- 8:58Speaker 1: a sect of his own, and gave it great glory.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Wearing long hair, he grasped the sword and smote all
- 9:05Speaker 1: his enemies. He put on the cotch of continents and
- 9:09Speaker 1: practiced arms. He established the Sikh war cry and was
- 9:14Speaker 1: victorious in mighty battles. He caused all demon enemies to
- 9:19Speaker 1: be surrounded and trampled upon. Then his endless praise was
- 9:23Speaker 1: gradually proclaimed throughout the world. Thus arose the race of Singhs,
- 9:28Speaker 1: who wore blue clothes, who killed all the hostile Turks
- 9:32Speaker 1: and repeated God's name. No one could withstand them, So
- 9:37Speaker 1: the Turkish leaders decanted Rajas, kings and amirs all became
- 9:42Speaker 1: the dust beneath the Sinh's feet. Great heels trembled when
- 9:46Speaker 1: they heard their victorious drums. There was then great commotion
- 9:50Speaker 1: throughout the whole world. The enemy abandoned their homes and
- 9:54Speaker 1: perished in the great confusion and trouble that ensued. There
- 9:58Speaker 1: is none so great a destroyer of fear as the
- 10:01Speaker 1: True Guru. He handled and displayed such a sword as
- 10:06Speaker 1: none could withstand. Well done, Well done, Gobin Singh, that
- 10:11Speaker 1: wort at once Guru and disciple Pari sixteen. By the
- 10:17Speaker 1: order of the Immortal God, the Great Guru obtained inspiration.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Then he gradually established the Calsa, whole bodied and manly.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Then arose the roaring of the Singhs. Lions, which terrified
- 10:31Speaker 1: the whole world. They leveled with the earth the shrines
- 10:34Speaker 1: of Hindus and Mohammedans. They cancel the vez the Purans,
- 10:40Speaker 1: the six Hindu systems, and the Koran. They abolished the
- 10:45Speaker 1: call to prayer and the prayer carpet of the Mohammedans,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and killed the Turkish monarchs, temporal and spiritual leaders. All
- 10:53Speaker 1: hid themselves or became converted to Sikhism. The Mullahs and
- 10:58Speaker 1: the Kazis grew weary of reading but found not God's secret.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Hundreds of thousands of pandits Brahmans and astrologers had become
- 11:07Speaker 1: entangled in worldly affairs, worshiping stones and temples that had
- 11:12Speaker 1: become exceedingly superstitious. Both the Hindus and the Mohammedans were
- 11:17Speaker 1: altogether engaged in deception. Consequently, a third religion, the Kalsa,
- 11:23Speaker 1: arose and became renowned The Sings by the order of
- 11:27Speaker 1: gurug Bin Singh seized the sword and wielded it. They
- 11:30Speaker 1: killed all their enemies and caused the name of the
- 11:32Speaker 1: immortal God to be repeated. Then God's order was promulgated
- 11:37Speaker 1: in the world. The drama victory resounded and drowned the
- 11:41Speaker 1: cry of sorrow, the great sagacious Guru established a third sect.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Well done, Well done, go Bin Singh, thatot work at
- 11:51Speaker 1: once Guru and disciple. In Our Life of Guru Gobin Singh,
- 12:00Speaker 1: Chapter thirty three,
