- 0:23Speaker 1: It is time to leave your warriors outside in life
- 0:27Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Danielmalley along with Trey Trenholm.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Today is Wednesday, July twenty third, two thousand twenty five.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Would you enter a real life squid game for a
- 0:44Speaker 1: shot at thirty three million dollars?
- 0:48Speaker 2: Tray?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Are you familiar with squid Game?
- 0:52Speaker 3: No?
- 0:55Speaker 1: So? Squid Game is a Korean based television show that
- 0:59Speaker 1: Netflix put out into the world.
- 1:03Speaker 4: I know it's a show on Netflix, but I have
- 1:05Speaker 4: not seen a second of it.
- 1:08Speaker 1: All right, Well, the idea of the squid Game is
- 1:10Speaker 1: there's this nefarious group of people who invite people from
- 1:18Speaker 1: society who are very downtrodden in debt up to their
- 1:21Speaker 1: eyeballs for a chance at winning lots and lots of money.
- 1:27Speaker 1: But in order to do it, they have to play
- 1:30Speaker 1: some children's games, and those children's games have deadly consequences.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So you're familiar with red light green Light? Okay, The
- 1:41Speaker 1: very first game in the very first season of Squid
- 1:45Speaker 1: Game that all the participants take part in is a
- 1:50Speaker 1: really horrific version of red light green Light, where in
- 1:54Speaker 1: if any movement is detected after red light is said,
- 1:59Speaker 1: you immediately get shot and killed. Okay, that's the first game.
- 2:06Speaker 1: If you survive that, then there's another game with deadly
- 2:09Speaker 1: consequents and so on and so forth until at the end,
- 2:13Speaker 1: kind of like Highlander, there's one person remaining. Now granted,
- 2:17Speaker 1: they actually get to vote after each round whether or
- 2:20Speaker 1: not to continue with the game. But of course, people,
- 2:23Speaker 1: it's a really fascinating film because it shows or show.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It shows how desperate people can be and how big
- 2:33Speaker 1: of a role money plays in our lives. And it's
- 2:37Speaker 1: a class warfare and everything as well. So it's a
- 2:41Speaker 1: fascinating show. It's very gory to a lot of people.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Some people it's too much for some, but I love
- 2:45Speaker 1: the show. I'm about halfway through season three right now.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So the reason why I ask you if you would
- 2:52Speaker 1: participate in a real life squid game is because it's
- 2:56Speaker 1: an extreme question. But the shocking thing is that in
- 2:59Speaker 1: a new survey, forty six percent of people said they
- 3:03Speaker 1: would consider participating in a real life squid game, despite
- 3:09Speaker 1: the fact that the game has a ninety nine point
- 3:12Speaker 1: eight percent death rate. But you know, thirty three million dollars, I.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Mean, it doesn't surprise me. We live in an age
- 3:25Speaker 4: where people will do a lot of weird things for
- 3:29Speaker 4: money and fame. I mean, social media has certainly brought
- 3:36Speaker 4: that to the forefront.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I still feel like a lot of the people that
- 3:41Speaker 1: answered they consider or would enter into a real life
- 3:45Speaker 1: squid Game if given the opportunity with actual deadly consequences.
- 3:49Speaker 1: I don't think they've seen the show because I think
- 3:52Speaker 1: they think that they could. Actually, no, you cannot. So
- 3:55Speaker 1: in the first season, that first game that I told
- 3:59Speaker 1: you about, Light Green Light, that's actually not that bad
- 4:03Speaker 1: as far as some of the other games are concerned.
- 4:05Speaker 1: There was another one in an episode of Squid Game
- 4:08Speaker 1: I just saw in season three where they have to
- 4:12Speaker 1: do jump rope to survive. But here, here are the
- 4:18Speaker 1: catches involved in it. Okay, they're on two raised platforms.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Everyone's on one side, and there's two huge dolls doing
- 4:28Speaker 1: a huge metal jump rope over a suspended platform that
- 4:36Speaker 1: is no wider than a ladder, and if you follow,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you're gonna die because it's like ten stories down. Okay,
- 4:46Speaker 1: so you have to jump over the rope across a
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't know, eighteen inch wide pathway to get to
- 4:55Speaker 1: the other side, while keeping in mind other players can
- 4:59Speaker 1: knock you off. Oh yeah, and you have to do
- 5:05Speaker 1: it inside of twenty minutes or you die.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I mean I it goes back. It's like the story
- 5:15Speaker 3: we read it.
- 5:16Speaker 4: It was a couple of months ago about I think
- 5:18Speaker 4: it was about fifty percent of people thought they could
- 5:20Speaker 4: land an airplane.
- 5:22Speaker 2: HM.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Well, in my defense, when I said yes to that,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I'm assuming that I would have autopilot assistance, and I've
- 5:33Speaker 1: landed plenty of planes in video games, so I feel
- 5:35Speaker 1: like i'd have a good shot at that. I honestly
- 5:38Speaker 1: feel like I would have a better shot at landing
- 5:40Speaker 1: a real life jet than I would surviving anything in
- 5:43Speaker 1: squid game.
- 5:46Speaker 3: We've really got to get it a simulator and let's see.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Well, I'm not saying I would definitely be successful. I'm
- 5:55Speaker 1: just saying I would like my odds better at landing
- 5:58Speaker 1: the plane.
- 6:01Speaker 4: I will think about it, and next time you're here
- 6:04Speaker 4: in Texas, I'll see if I can't get us into
- 6:07Speaker 4: an actual airline simulator, because I know, I know somebody.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Okay, is there any way we can select the aircraft?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Because I really don't want to be hampered by a
- 6:18Speaker 1: seven forty seven. I'd like a little more maneuverability, something
- 6:21Speaker 1: along the line, so of like an F sixteen or something,
- 6:24Speaker 1: so I could pretend I'm in Iron Eagle.
- 6:28Speaker 3: This would probably be a seven three seven, So no
- 6:32Speaker 3: barrel rolls, No, I don't think so.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Can I at least select a custom paint job in
- 6:37Speaker 1: the setup screen so at least I look good as
- 6:40Speaker 1: I go down?
- 6:42Speaker 3: You know, I'm not sure about that. Well.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I mean, if I can put like a flame paint
- 6:48Speaker 1: job on the cone of the seven thirty seven in
- 6:51Speaker 1: the simulator, does it? Does it matter?
- 6:56Speaker 3: I mean, you know, before it burns, Yeah, it'll look great.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just just self fulfilling prophecy on there. Again,
- 7:04Speaker 1: I'm not saying I could definitely do it. I just
- 7:06Speaker 1: like my odds better of landing the plane than I
- 7:09Speaker 1: do surviving squid game.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I mean, I I think.
- 7:17Speaker 4: I'm surprised that we haven't gotten to a point yet.
- 7:20Speaker 4: And you know, you've saw it in movies and years ago,
- 7:25Speaker 4: and I think it's only a matter of time before
- 7:28Speaker 4: we kind of start seeing some dystopian shows where people
- 7:31Speaker 4: really are willing to lose their lives and you know,
- 7:35Speaker 4: for a chance at fame or money.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Because no one, no one's being physically killed. But they're
- 7:43Speaker 1: in other ways, they might be doing very questionable, questionable
- 7:47Speaker 1: things ethically.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Oh, I mean people are gonna would literally get killed.
- 7:51Speaker 1: No, I'm with you. I think we're probably close to that.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's why that's why shows like this are extreme. But
- 7:57Speaker 1: at the same time, you it feels very real realistic
- 8:00Speaker 1: to think that. Yeah, I think a lot of people
- 8:02Speaker 1: today would do this.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
- 8:10Speaker 4: We see idiots do plenty of other things for free. Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 4: you know, Eagles still on the air.
- 8:28Speaker 5: You're in the Treehouse business online at treehouseonair dot com.
- 8:35Speaker 1: This sounds like it may be on fire though. Let's
- 8:41Speaker 1: get Daniel Cook from COOKDFW Roofing and Restoration into the treehouse.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Their number for your free roof inspection eight three three
- 8:48Speaker 1: Cook DFW, the website, cookdfw dot com. The RMS Treehouse
- 8:53Speaker 1: Listeners Foundation exists to help the families of fallen DFW
- 8:57Speaker 1: police officers and firefighters killed in the line of do
- 9:00Speaker 1: and we've been very fortunate over the years to partner
- 9:03Speaker 1: with some outstanding companies wanting to help. And today we
- 9:07Speaker 1: get to add Cook DFW's name to that list of
- 9:10Speaker 1: excellent sponsors to the foundation. Because Daniel, you and your
- 9:13Speaker 1: wife Carrie have said, you know what, we love our
- 9:15Speaker 1: community and we want to do something to give back
- 9:17Speaker 1: to our first responders in DFW.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Right, Dan, That's absolutely correct, and you know, truth be known,
- 9:23Speaker 6: Carrie has given to the foundation for quite so many years.
- 9:27Speaker 6: But now at a company level, I think we are
- 9:30Speaker 6: wanting to definitely you know, beef that up and start
- 9:34Speaker 6: giving back to the foundation. And it's unfortunately, this is
- 9:37Speaker 6: a foundation nobody wants to have to donate to, but
- 9:40Speaker 6: it's the real world is that these things do happen,
- 9:43Speaker 6: and it's the type of foundation that you don't want around,
- 9:47Speaker 6: but you definitely want it to be you know, available
- 9:50Speaker 6: to the families that need it. And so over the
- 9:52Speaker 6: next couple of months, you know, a portion of all
- 9:55Speaker 6: the proceeds from the work done from Treehouse Listeners that
- 9:59Speaker 6: call in and let us know that they heard about
- 10:00Speaker 6: you on the show, we're gonna be donating to the
- 10:03Speaker 6: RMS tree House Listeners Foundation and making sure that we
- 10:06Speaker 6: can keep that very stable, uh in the accounting side,
- 10:11Speaker 6: and have funds available that when the families need it,
- 10:14Speaker 6: it's going to be there.
- 10:15Speaker 3: So we're very.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Fortunate to be a part of the organization and we
- 10:20Speaker 6: look forward to try and assist and help it as
- 10:22Speaker 6: much as we can.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Not only a company that cares about you as a client,
- 10:25Speaker 1: but Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration also cares about its
- 10:28Speaker 1: first responders in our communities. So give them a call
- 10:31Speaker 1: for your roofing and restoration needs. Eight three three Cook

- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm Dan, He's Trey. Today is Wednesday, July twenty third,
- 11:36Speaker 1: two thousand, twenty five. Trey, are you familiar with the
- 11:39Speaker 1: gen z stare?
- 11:43Speaker 3: No, No, I'm not.
- 11:45Speaker 1: It looks a little bit like this. It's a very
- 11:51Speaker 1: non plus vacant, void of any thought or emotion stare.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It looks kind of like the if I remember correctly,
- 12:02Speaker 1: it looks a little bit like the looks on the
- 12:04Speaker 1: faces of the kids and children of the corn back
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the eighties, the Stephen King movie.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Just that.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Kind of look.
- 12:12Speaker 3: That look is.
- 12:15Speaker 4: My look when I am thinking but don't want to say, Wow,
- 12:21Speaker 4: you really are the dumbest mother.
- 12:25Speaker 3: In the world.
- 12:27Speaker 1: To anybody.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, it's that blanket just.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Like And that's why the rest of society is having
- 12:34Speaker 1: such an issue with the gen z stare, because that
- 12:37Speaker 1: look on all of the rest of our faces is trouble.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Whereas the gen z stare may not necessarily be some
- 12:46Speaker 1: passive aggressive thing. It's just the thing that's a trend
- 12:49Speaker 1: that they're doing without thinking about the repercussions of it.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Is it a trend or is it just that they
- 12:57Speaker 3: really aren't that good at talking?
- 13:01Speaker 1: Okay, that's a great question. I don't know if the
- 13:03Speaker 1: gen z stare is intentional or if they really are
- 13:06Speaker 1: dead inside.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they just don't know what word to say.
- 13:11Speaker 1: You're right, they may just be vacant.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I've seen that look from gen Z and that's
- 13:17Speaker 4: just what I assumed is they were just didn't know.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Uh I, God help us.
- 13:24Speaker 1: That's yeah, gen Z, the youthful masters of the TikTok
- 13:28Speaker 1: trend are being hoist by their own petard. But they're
- 13:32Speaker 1: probably just staring at their phones with blank and expressionless faces.
- 13:36Speaker 1: The gen Z stare has become the rare social media
- 13:39Speaker 1: sensation that turns the mirror back on gen Zers instead
- 13:43Speaker 1: of vice versa. You may recognize the gen Z stare
- 13:46Speaker 1: if you've had an unsettling experience with a barista while
- 13:49Speaker 1: trying to order a coffee, or if you were discussing
- 13:51Speaker 1: an assignment with a colleague and weren't sure if they
- 13:53Speaker 1: were understanding you, because without saying anything, they just stared
- 13:57Speaker 1: back at you. This particular TikTok trend is quickly becoming
- 14:01Speaker 1: a flashpoint in debates about workplace culture, generational divides, in
- 14:05Speaker 1: the future of soft skills. While it may seem like
- 14:07Speaker 1: a fleeting meme, the gen Z stair is emblematic of
- 14:10Speaker 1: deeper economic and social shifts as the youngest working generation
- 14:14Speaker 1: reshapes the labor market. One Reddit user described visiting a
- 14:18Speaker 1: chocolate shop to pick up a birthday gift, saying the
- 14:21Speaker 1: young person working at the counter just stared blankly at
- 14:23Speaker 1: me as I smiled and said hi, she said nothing
- 14:26Speaker 1: even when I said thank you. After the interaction, it
- 14:29Speaker 1: makes me self conscious and I start wondering if I
- 14:31Speaker 1: did something wrong. And the gen Z stairs typically described
- 14:35Speaker 1: as a vacant, unresponsive gaze, often replacing traditional greetings or
- 14:39Speaker 1: small talk in service roles. Now gen Z says the
- 14:48Speaker 1: stair is a reaction to awkward or nonsensical customer interactions,
- 14:52Speaker 1: or simply a preference for authenticity over forced pleasantries. So
- 14:58Speaker 1: if you get a gen Z's and think it's personal,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it probably is. I also expect an increase in gen
- 15:07Speaker 1: Z getting punched if they keep doing this.
- 15:13Speaker 3: My favorite of.
- 15:18Speaker 4: All my interactions with gen Z, I was working behind
- 15:22Speaker 4: the bar one night and listening to this girl go
- 15:31Speaker 4: on and on about how we the older generations did
- 15:36Speaker 4: not understand the enlightenment that they had, and you know
- 15:40Speaker 4: that their perspective was, you know, just so different because
- 15:47Speaker 4: they had so much more information and they were so
- 15:49Speaker 4: much smarter and everything else. And she proceeded just to
- 15:51Speaker 4: get fact after fact after fact wrong. And she just
- 15:54Speaker 4: she goes, you know, y'all don't understand we think outside
- 15:58Speaker 4: the box. And I said, yes, you do, but you're
- 16:02Speaker 4: standing in a circle.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Sho didn't get it.
- 16:06Speaker 1: But is that when you got your first gen Z stare?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Uh, that's when I got my first gen Z You.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Congratulations. Kind of knock that off your bucket list.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 16:20Speaker 1: The thing that gen Z needs to be aware of
- 16:23Speaker 1: here is that you can throw out a gen Z stare,
- 16:27Speaker 1: but if you do, you may end up receiving a
- 16:31Speaker 1: gen X beatdown, because if you look at the wrong
- 16:35Speaker 1: gen xer in that way, you will end up on
- 16:37Speaker 1: the news.
- 16:38Speaker 4: I mean, you might even get slapped by a millennial.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I mean they'll they'll have to go to therapy for it,
- 16:42Speaker 4: but they'll they might slap you too.
- 16:45Speaker 1: They will, they will pick up a piece of avocado
- 16:47Speaker 1: toast and slap you with it, and they'll they'll talk
- 16:50Speaker 1: to the therapist about it afterwards. But yeah, you run
- 16:52Speaker 1: the risk.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah, gen Z's actually as as I do have some
- 16:57Speaker 4: faith in the new gen Alpha, I think gen Z's
- 16:59Speaker 4: can be that generation that just literally their whole lives.
- 17:02Speaker 4: They're just gonna get slapped from all sides.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Probably will. And you're right. If gen Z keeps doing this,
- 17:09Speaker 1: If gen Z keeps putting out this gen Z stare,
- 17:11Speaker 1: they're gonna get slapped in the face by millennials with
- 17:15Speaker 1: a piece of avocado toast. They're gonna get possibly a
- 17:17Speaker 1: gen X beat down, and the boomers will write them
- 17:20Speaker 1: right out of the will Oh.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I mean, they're gonna get slapped by their kids, their parents,
- 17:24Speaker 4: their grandparents, uh and great grandparents. It's gonna look like
- 17:28Speaker 4: the scene out of Airplane.
- 17:38Speaker 2: You're in the treehouse.

- 18:13Speaker 1: right here inside the treehouse Trey. Have you ever had
- 18:18Speaker 1: an awkward run in with a former teacher?
- 18:23Speaker 3: Former teacher m.
- 18:25Speaker 1: H not off the top of your head, it's okay.
- 18:35Speaker 1: If not, I'm just asking the question.
- 18:39Speaker 3: No.
- 18:40Speaker 1: So, I come from a family of teachers, and I've
- 18:42Speaker 1: seen a fair share of awkward run ins of former
- 18:47Speaker 1: students with former teachers. When we lived in Oklahoma. My
- 18:53Speaker 1: dad started out as a sixth grade teacher before he
- 18:56Speaker 1: went into the corporate world, and occasionally at the Skags
- 19:01Speaker 1: Alpha Beta, a former student would see us in the
- 19:04Speaker 1: grocery store because it was a small town and be like,
- 19:06Speaker 1: oh hi, and they'd have like a little brief interaction,
- 19:09Speaker 1: and my dad'd be like, who Reachi, Like, oh I
- 19:11Speaker 1: had you in sixth grade and be like, oh hi.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Whether or not he actually remembered this student, sometimes he did,
- 19:16Speaker 1: sometimes he didn't, but still I'd see it. My grandmother
- 19:19Speaker 1: was a teacher for many, many years. Occasionally she would
- 19:21Speaker 1: run into a former student. So it happens, but not
- 19:25Speaker 1: always like this. This is one TikTok trend I am
- 19:29Speaker 1: that I can get behind. Teachers on TikToker sharing the
- 19:32Speaker 1: most horrific places that they've bumped into students outside of school,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and students are also sharing the unexpected times that they've
- 19:40Speaker 1: run into one of their teachers. So my grade run
- 19:46Speaker 1: in with a former teacher. Technically wasn't my teacher, but
- 19:51Speaker 1: she was a teacher across the hall. So in second grade,
- 19:55Speaker 1: going into second grade at my elementary school in Oklahoma,
- 20:00Speaker 1: two second grade classes. One was Missus Pruitt. That was
- 20:05Speaker 1: the older lady, the white hair, all of that, very strict,
- 20:09Speaker 1: very scary. Then there was across the hall from her,
- 20:13Speaker 1: Missus Reynolds. She was sort of the hippie, free flowing,
- 20:17Speaker 1: care free, like more fun class. That's the class I wanted.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I wanted Missus Reynolds second grade class. Instead, I got
- 20:24Speaker 1: sucked into Missus Pruitt's. Turned out. Missus Pruitt not bad,
- 20:27Speaker 1: very nice lady, excellent teacher, but definitely was not the
- 20:30Speaker 1: hippie dippy type across the hall of Missus Reynolds. Fast
- 20:35Speaker 1: forward about twenty five years. I'm at my dad's house
- 20:40Speaker 1: visiting in Oklahoma and I see this lady on the
- 20:44Speaker 1: patio smoking some weed and drinking a beer. I'm like, God,
- 20:51Speaker 1: she looks familiar, Missus Reynolds. And that's that's when I
- 20:56Speaker 1: was like, I knew you were the fun second grade teacher.
- 21:01Speaker 3: So that was a fun I was.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It was kind of awkward, but it was a fun
- 21:04Speaker 1: run in. I was like, hey, I really wanted you
- 21:06Speaker 1: in the second grade, but I got missus brute. That's mine.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Now on TikTok actual go ahead, tray.
- 21:13Speaker 4: Well, now, I have seen some awkward run ins at
- 21:18Speaker 4: bars of two different types.
- 21:21Speaker 3: One was a bar that I will not name, but.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Some girls had some really good fake id's, clearly because
- 21:31Speaker 4: they were still in high school. But they had gotten
- 21:33Speaker 4: into a bar and they ran into one of their teachers. Ah,
- 21:40Speaker 4: that was awkward.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That's one of the examples that I've actually got here.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Someone said, when I was a teacher, I saw a curtain.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I saw a curtain. Damn it, I can't say that word.
- 21:50Speaker 1: When I was a teacher, I saw a current student
- 21:53Speaker 1: who was sixteen attempting to use his fake ID at
- 21:56Speaker 1: the bar where I was moonlighting.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I think the only thing that saved the girls was
- 22:05Speaker 4: the fact the teacher was hammered, and so it was
- 22:10Speaker 4: kind of like, y'all go and we're never going to
- 22:14Speaker 4: talk about this again.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, And honestly, as coming from a family full of teachers,
- 22:19Speaker 1: a drunk teacher is kind of a normal.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Oh oh yeah.
- 22:23Speaker 4: That was the other funny thing is when I was
- 22:25Speaker 4: then dating someone that had kids. We were out one
- 22:29Speaker 4: night and ran into one of their teachers, absolutely plowed
- 22:35Speaker 4: and almost dancing on the bar. It was quite entertaining
- 22:39Speaker 4: and so so yeah, I have witnessed those kind of interactions.
- 22:47Speaker 1: That was a pretty good well. I have a few
- 22:48Speaker 1: others here of people sharing their experiences on TikTok sharing
- 22:52Speaker 1: their times where they had to awkward run in with
- 22:54Speaker 1: a former student or a former teacher. One here, a
- 22:59Speaker 1: student said at a funeral, turns out we were related.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So a student said they ran into a teacher at
- 23:04Speaker 1: a funeral. They were related, and he was my most
- 23:07Speaker 1: hated teacher I've ever had. One student said that me
- 23:11Speaker 1: and my college professor were locked up in jail over
- 23:13Speaker 1: the weekend together. It's fun. Now we get in some
- 23:18Speaker 1: really fun ones. I was pooping at Walmart and a
- 23:21Speaker 1: third grade student popped her head under the stall and said,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I saw your shoes and thought that was you missus ware.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Oh that is awful so many levels. Yeah. I got
- 23:37Speaker 1: into an uber blackout drunk and my driver was a
- 23:40Speaker 1: student's parent. A student was the only cashier when I,
- 23:46Speaker 1: as the former teacher, was buying a pregnancy test. Whoops,
- 23:54Speaker 1: this is just a classic one as my colonoscopy was
- 23:57Speaker 1: just about to begin. Hey, mister k you were my
- 24:00Speaker 1: favorite teacher. I'll be assisting you today. The teacher responded, thanks,
- 24:03Speaker 1: enjoy the view. This one's pretty good. I don't know
- 24:09Speaker 1: if this is a student or a teacher, really doesn't matter,
- 24:12Speaker 1: but they said they had the awkward run in at therapy.
- 24:14Speaker 1: He was on his way out, I was on my
- 24:16Speaker 1: way in. It's better than dancing on the bar during
- 24:20Speaker 1: happy hour. Yeah, I was getting a bikini wax, and
- 24:26Speaker 1: halfway through my technician told me that because of me,
- 24:29Speaker 1: she was doing great in college math.
- 24:35Speaker 3: All right, that'd be awkward.
- 24:36Speaker 1: That would be like, oh oh, this is wow.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 1: And my personal favorite of teachers and students sharing their awkward,
- 24:44Speaker 1: horrific run ins, I was teaching preschool and also working
- 24:49Speaker 1: at a topless bar. Saw a father at last call,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and saw him again at the school's early drop off
- 24:56Speaker 1: at six am. Honestly to both of them for being
- 25:01Speaker 1: up and at them. Just a handful of hours later.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Dan, when you see other former teachers of yours, like
- 25:09Speaker 4: do you you go, hey, it's Dan, And then when
- 25:11Speaker 4: they kind of have a blank look, then do you
- 25:13Speaker 4: like slap on the helmet and then grab the big
- 25:15Speaker 4: pencil and they're like, oh, Denny, I remember you.
- 25:17Speaker 1: It's yes. I keep those items in my backpack for
- 25:22Speaker 1: just such an occurrence so I can give them big
- 25:26Speaker 1: old hugs and tell them about great I'm doing.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Now, do you write them a note? And you're big red,
- 25:32Speaker 3: you know, big big chief tablet.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Oh God, you're.

- 26:32Speaker 1: This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dany's trade. Today's Wednesday,
- 26:34Speaker 1: July twenty third, twenty twenty five A headline which will
- 26:39Speaker 1: live in infamy. A civilian boat collided with the USS Midway,
- 26:46Speaker 1: an aircraft carrier.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Oh wow, I I.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Saw the story, and I was like, and I say
- 27:06Speaker 4: this as a recovering alcoholic and and and someone who
- 27:09Speaker 4: drank a lot.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And uh.
- 27:12Speaker 4: But if you've if you've never seen an aircraft carrier,
- 27:18Speaker 4: then maybe you don't understand how big they are.
- 27:23Speaker 1: They are massive.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Yeah, like over to football fields.
- 27:28Speaker 1: You know what I can. I can alter the headline
- 27:30Speaker 1: a little bit to maybe make it easier for someone
- 27:33Speaker 1: to understand the perspective on a boat running into an
- 27:38Speaker 1: aircraft carrier. Here we go, a civilian boat collided with
- 27:45Speaker 1: a museum in San Diego. That's that's what the USS
- 27:57Speaker 1: Midway is now. It's a floating museum in San Diego,
- 28:00Speaker 1: and you ran into it.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like three and a half football fields long.
- 28:07Speaker 1: On July eighteenth, a sixty foot sport fishing boat, which
- 28:11Speaker 1: is not tiny, by the way, a sixty foot sport
- 28:14Speaker 1: fishing boat sailed into the side of the decommissioned USS
- 28:17Speaker 1: Midway aircraft carrier. Oh, by the way, the operator of
- 28:22Speaker 1: the boat under the influence of alcohol, allegedly.
- 28:26Speaker 4: You know, that's one of the few times I have
- 28:27Speaker 4: to say I hope so because if he were stone cold, sob,
- 28:33Speaker 4: how did you get a boating No more, Captain for you,
- 28:38Speaker 4: Captain D's maybe.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Oh.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Footage of the incident was captured both by San Diego
- 28:46Speaker 1: webcam as well as visitors on board the USS Midway
- 28:50Speaker 1: at the time. No injuries and no major damage to
- 28:53Speaker 1: either vessel has been reported, certainly not to the Floating
- 28:56Speaker 1: Aircraft Carrier Museum. Oh my god. And I don't know
- 29:02Speaker 1: how familiar people are with some of these really large
- 29:05Speaker 1: sport fishing boats. But sixty feet that's big still. I
- 29:08Speaker 1: mean not compared to an aircraft carrier, but still it's
- 29:10Speaker 1: a big boat in its own right. And these fishing
- 29:12Speaker 1: boats are multi level, they can be two three, you know, decks,
- 29:17Speaker 1: So these are not small boats. And the video of
- 29:19Speaker 1: this incident is truly inspiring because the boat just goes
- 29:25Speaker 1: right into it it. I'm not sure if there was
- 29:30Speaker 1: ever any attempt at whoever was piloting the sport fishing
- 29:35Speaker 1: boat to avoid the aircraft carrier. I kind of wonder
- 29:38Speaker 1: if they were just passed out at the helm or
- 29:41Speaker 1: down below and didn't even know where they were.
- 29:44Speaker 4: For as far as private boat boats go, sixty foot
- 29:48Speaker 4: is a big boat, yes, But let's also keep in
- 29:53Speaker 4: mind again the aircraft carrier. It's docked permanently. It's a
- 29:57Speaker 4: music it's a floating museum. It's not moving. It's not
- 30:00Speaker 4: and you know tag or anything else.
- 30:03Speaker 3: It's just there.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It's yeah, it's there. Just in case you have not
- 30:10Speaker 1: seen it, I'm gonna show this.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I have I did not see the video sides.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh, you're gonna enjoy this. So here you have a one, two, three,
- 30:17Speaker 1: maybe there's definitely three, you know from like the like
- 30:23Speaker 1: when you walk onto a boat that's level one, then
- 30:26Speaker 1: there's an area above that. Then there's another area above
- 30:30Speaker 1: that on the fly bridge, right, so there's it's just
- 30:33Speaker 1: three decks above water level on on the sport boat
- 30:38Speaker 1: that's going to run into the USS Midway.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that's and that's a that's a million dollar boat.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, mm hmm.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Oh, no way.
- 31:01Speaker 1: And then it just keeps on going. So like the
- 31:05Speaker 1: bow of the boat, the pointy end of the boat
- 31:08Speaker 1: just goes right into the side of the USS Midway
- 31:12Speaker 1: aircraft carrier and it doesn't stop. It keeps going. So
- 31:14Speaker 1: now the boat's turning and now it's scraping the side
- 31:18Speaker 1: of the aircraft carrier with the side of the boat. Oh,
- 31:22Speaker 1: let's watch it again. Oh, I'm glad that's not my boat.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Oh.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Local police later confirmed to the San Diego Union Tribune
- 31:45Speaker 1: that one person had been arrested on suspicion of boating
- 31:47Speaker 1: while under the influence.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Oh oh.
- 31:53Speaker 1: By the way, this this civilian craft attempted to leave
- 31:55Speaker 1: the scene before soon being intercepted by a police boat.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Guessing them running into the aircraft carrier woke them up
- 32:04Speaker 1: from their alcoholic slumber, and that's when they were like, oh, no.
- 32:19Speaker 4: I just want to be on the phone. What they
- 32:20Speaker 4: call their insurance company? You ran into what what?
- 32:30Speaker 1: We're going to take your boat away? Now, we're going
- 32:34Speaker 1: to cancel. We're going to be canceling your policy because
- 32:38Speaker 1: even those cavemen aren't going to ensure you can.
- 32:43Speaker 3: We get a statement from the other person involved.
- 32:47Speaker 1: No, so far, the only statement we've received is really yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 2: In the Treehouse.

- 33:30Speaker 1: At Treehouse on Air give us a follow today. Today
- 33:34Speaker 1: is Wednesday, July twenty third, twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate
- 33:38Speaker 1: today inside the Treehouse with birthdays. Actor Daniel Radcliffe, best
- 33:49Speaker 1: known as Harry Potter, is thirty six years old today.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Harry Potter is thirty six years old today. If that
- 33:57Speaker 1: doesn't make you feel old, then nothing will.
- 34:04Speaker 3: God, that's that really does? That hits hard.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I mean it's like being slapped in the face by
- 34:16Speaker 1: a piece of ava, by a piece of avocado toes
- 34:18Speaker 1: by a millennial.
- 34:20Speaker 4: I mean, well, I I'm trying to think when was
- 34:24Speaker 4: the last Harry Potter movie released, because now they're coming
- 34:28Speaker 4: up on being twenty years old.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right. I hadn't thought about that. I'm curious
- 34:37Speaker 1: about that myself.
- 34:40Speaker 3: So there are one two, There.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Are seven movies. I guess technically eight because yet The
- 34:48Speaker 1: Deathly Hollows Part one and Part two are considered I
- 34:52Speaker 1: guess the seventh film. But yeah, you've got Harry Potter
- 34:56Speaker 1: and The Sorcerer's Stone came out in two thousand and one.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Member of Secrets two thousand and two, Prisoner of oz
- 35:02Speaker 1: Caban and four Goblet of Fire, oh five Order of
- 35:05Speaker 1: the Phoenix O seven, Half Blood Prints, nine, Deathly Hollows
- 35:09Speaker 1: Part one in twenty ten, and Deathly Hollows Part two
- 35:12Speaker 1: and twenty eleven. Wow, so fourteen years since the most
- 35:18Speaker 1: recent one.
- 35:18Speaker 3: But the first one is over twenty years old now,
- 35:21Speaker 3: I mean, that's.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Twenty four years old. It's just Oh, that's nauseating.
- 35:27Speaker 4: Oh that was Actually, those were the first movies when
- 35:35Speaker 4: I got sober, because I had never never invested the
- 35:41Speaker 4: time in my drinking days to watch them because I
- 35:43Speaker 4: knew there's a chance I probably wouldn't remember them, and
- 35:45Speaker 4: that's just a big time investment. But the first set
- 35:49Speaker 4: of movies I watched when I got sober, and I
- 35:50Speaker 4: was like, yeah, and obviously they're great movies.
- 35:55Speaker 1: I still to this day don't think I've seen every
- 35:57Speaker 1: single one of them.
- 36:00Speaker 4: They're all I mean, they're just if you like that genre,
- 36:03Speaker 4: if you like you know, Lord of the Rings and
- 36:05Speaker 4: the end of that fantasy genre.
- 36:07Speaker 3: I mean, fantastic.
- 36:08Speaker 1: There's there's a stand up who has a great bit
- 36:11Speaker 1: on this that that Harry Potter is just poor Man
- 36:14Speaker 1: Star Wars. Oh yeah, it's the same movie. It's the
- 36:17Speaker 1: same plot. It's just I mean, it's it's Wizards versus
- 36:21Speaker 1: Space Wizards. It's a wand instead of a lightsaber. Harry
- 36:26Speaker 1: Potter living with his aunt and uncle or whatever it
- 36:30Speaker 1: was versus his parents, doesn't know where they are. There's
- 36:33Speaker 1: a very dark force out to get him.
- 36:39Speaker 3: And they're not really wrong.
- 36:41Speaker 1: It's Star Wars with pointy hats and crooked sticks. So anyway,
- 36:48Speaker 1: happy birthday, Daniel Radcliffe, you bastard, he's thirty six today.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Then you've also got from Destiny's Child. Michelle Williams is
- 36:57Speaker 1: forty six. Monica Lewinsky is that'll make you you feel old,
- 37:02Speaker 1: But you know who that makes you know, how that
- 37:04Speaker 1: makes Bill Clinton didn't feel.
- 37:07Speaker 4: You know, talking about people again that Coldplay had not
- 37:11Speaker 4: really thought or seen Monica Lewinsky's name or anything in years.
- 37:16Speaker 4: And then you know, as soon as the Coldplay thing
- 37:19Speaker 4: at the concert started, then the memes came out.
- 37:21Speaker 3: And that was especially with Ai.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Now that was one of the first ones, was you know,
- 37:25Speaker 4: it was Bill and Monica at the Coldplay concert.
- 37:30Speaker 1: It really is interesting though, because, yeah, Monica Lewinsky fifty
- 37:33Speaker 1: two years old today, and if that makes you feel old,
- 37:35Speaker 1: just imagine how old that makes Bill Clinton feel.
- 37:43Speaker 3: I'm sure Hillary makes him feel older.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I think that's probably more the daily punching. Do you
- 37:55Speaker 1: think Macron has it bad?
- 38:01Speaker 2: You're in the treehouse.

- 38:54Speaker 1: little bit here inside the Treehouse for it today. You've
- 38:57Speaker 1: heard this saying don't poke the bear, right, Yes, Well
- 39:01Speaker 1: there's another one, and that is don't poke the cow
- 39:06Speaker 1: because if you do, it might run you over along
- 39:09Speaker 1: with all of its friends, which is something that a
- 39:12Speaker 1: hiker in China recently found out when going up to
- 39:16Speaker 1: a cow in a field, poked it with its stick,
- 39:20Speaker 1: and then the cow proceeded to run it over along
- 39:23Speaker 1: with all of its friends, a little thing in Texas
- 39:25Speaker 1: we call a stampede. So don't poke the bear and
- 39:29Speaker 1: definitely do not poke the cow. Are they dim, dull
- 39:35Speaker 1: mentally creatures. Yes, they're not the most intelligent creatures, but
- 39:38Speaker 1: they will run your ass over, and coming from a
- 39:43Speaker 1: family that had not one, but two legitimate cattle ranchers
- 39:47Speaker 1: in it, they will sit on you and kill you.
- 39:51Speaker 1: And they can run you over and kill you. So
- 39:54Speaker 1: don't poke cows. Yeah, one person learned that the hard way.
- 39:59Speaker 4: They're hurt animals, so if one does something, chances are
- 40:01Speaker 4: the herd will do it, and including trampling you.
- 40:06Speaker 1: One cow charged a man who poked it with a
- 40:08Speaker 1: stick before the rest joined in, leaving him with bruises
- 40:11Speaker 1: and minor rib fractures. He does not realize how lucky
- 40:15Speaker 1: he is only bruises and minor rib fractures. He is
- 40:19Speaker 1: lucky to be alive. And there's really no other way
- 40:24Speaker 1: around it. What's that?
- 40:27Speaker 3: This was in China?
- 40:29Speaker 1: This was in China.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Oh, I can't even blame it on white people.
- 40:33Speaker 1: No, you can't. Yeah, and I tried. I watched the
- 40:38Speaker 1: video four or five times. It was like a Zubruiter
- 40:40Speaker 1: film for a for a stampede, not a not a
- 40:46Speaker 1: not a not an anglow to be seen.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just it really seems so common sense to say,
- 40:52Speaker 4: but it is a general rule of thumb. If the
- 40:55Speaker 4: animal has horns, don't mess with it.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Also a good saying. Maybe that's part of what's lost
- 41:02Speaker 1: on some people is that we're letting some of these
- 41:04Speaker 1: sayings go by the wayside. Don't poke the bear, what
- 41:06Speaker 1: do people do they go poke a bear? Don't grab
- 41:10Speaker 1: a bull by the horns. These are all sayings steeped
- 41:13Speaker 1: in history and practical knowledge. These are not fanciful things
- 41:17Speaker 1: that people just made up to be funny or silly. No,
- 41:20Speaker 1: there's a reason why you don't do these actual things.
- 41:22Speaker 4: Because mess with the bull the horns, yes, you know,
- 41:26Speaker 4: if it has an appendage that could kill you, just
- 41:29Speaker 4: leave it alone.
- 41:31Speaker 1: And you can't always use size as an indicator as
- 41:37Speaker 1: to whether or not you should mess with a wild animal,
- 41:40Speaker 1: because chimpanzees physically might be smaller than a full grown human.
- 41:47Speaker 1: But ask the lady whose face got ripped off by
- 41:49Speaker 1: a chimpanzee if they seem strong for their size.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Yes, they can tear your limbs off one by one.
- 41:58Speaker 1: And beat you with them.
- 42:03Speaker 3: This is just another one of those things. It seems
- 42:07Speaker 3: like common sense.
- 42:09Speaker 4: I don't think there are a lot of times I
- 42:12Speaker 4: think these things are were happening. When we were kids,
- 42:16Speaker 4: there was just not everyone had phones and everything else,
- 42:19Speaker 4: so you didn't hear about them. I don't think this
- 42:22Speaker 4: stuff happened like it does now. But I think people
- 42:26Speaker 4: see stuff on social media they're like, oh, I'll go
- 42:28Speaker 4: pet the buffalo.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That's how you become a how it started versus how
- 42:36Speaker 1: it's going me. I mean, when the realization hits that
- 42:43Speaker 1: your arm just got ripped off by an angry chimpanzee
- 42:46Speaker 1: and he's now bludgeoning you with it, that's a that's
- 42:48Speaker 1: a very difficult realization to make, but it's gonna happen.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Don't mess with wild animals.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Or the bison you decided you needed to pet, when
