- 1:22Welcome back to another edition of the be forever.
- 1:24Cool podcast, my name is Rex 45. My name is t.j. to you to wasn't
- 1:29coffee. It's going on man.
- 1:31How much just getting through this freeze that, we just Frost
- 1:36still going through ice. Walk situation outside types of
- 1:40weather and, you know, the span of three, four days like 50
- 1:43degrees. Now, it's like feeling - 30 like
- 1:46last night. Yeah.
- 1:48How are you self the same? Trying to warm up, man.
- 1:51It's been a cold one and I can't wait for it to, you know, you
- 1:56know, we're getting, you know, some folks, are you you know,
- 1:59riding and stuff like that. But up here in Boston is pretty
- 2:02cold and I can't wait for it to just be above 50.
- 2:05Yeah man, can't thank you guys enough.
- 2:08For tuning in each week. I appreciate all the listeners
- 2:12and shout out to penguin riding school.
- 2:14You got me going. So yeah, just getting through
- 2:17the winter. Appreciate you guys, no doubt.
- 2:21No doubt. So man, so this is fun, you
- 2:24know, that my little jump right into it, you know, as the
- 2:27weather is as cold as it is outside right now.
- 2:31You know, it had me thinking about, you know, the track and
- 2:36and, and what happens when this Bad weather.
- 2:38And and you know, how do you plan for that as a new Rider as
- 2:42a new person going to the track, you know?
- 2:45You know it's not something I thought about a lot, you know.
- 2:48And I think even on other episodes of, you know, I've
- 2:50already said that you know, when the weather was bad, I wasn't
- 2:53even even racing, you know. But you know, it's something to
- 3:00think about and to plan for man and, you know, you got all your
- 3:05gear for for when it rains, are you prepared?
- 3:08You are now you're like thinking about it this year?
- 3:10I mean yeah I've been through it so I think I'm a little be a
- 3:13little more prepared. I still don't know exactly what
- 3:16is needed. I got rain tires, you know, and
- 3:21umbrellas got you. Yeah I mean I'm Brothers nice.
- 3:25You know I you know I think you know I got I got rain boots you
- 3:30know especially you know a lot of these other tracks if you're
- 3:32on the grass it gets swamp like so you know, rain boots.
- 3:37I got your rain coat. Code, I got snow pants, you know
- 3:40I mean I got Somethin for my for because we actually out there
- 3:44when it's raining to some of these places especially if
- 3:47you're like right now even you know, Roblin I mean I when I was
- 3:52in wrote Roblin and 2021 is like 45 degrees.
- 3:56So yeah, the past ever. So when I explained my tent got
- 4:02beat down by the way, you know, right, one of my friends are
- 4:06right with that. Me actually in jumped in the
- 4:09water with me, so I appreciate that.
- 4:11But I went in with, I had no choice because in the tent was
- 4:14all my stuff with the computer, everything sleeping bag,
- 4:21everything that I had with, you know, with electronics inside of
- 4:2410, it started raining. I didn't think my time was going
- 4:27to go down the flood, right? But it was pretty much under
- 4:30water and it collapsed. And I had to jump in with my
- 4:34shoes. So, my shoes got wet.
- 4:36I didn't have no rain. Boots for that.
- 4:38So so yeah, I might have to get some rain boots and ponchos and
- 4:44some from Umbrellas and, you know, if you plan on riding to
- 4:47you it's got heavy rain tires and there's like rain suit cover
- 4:53to. Yeah.
- 4:54Do you know, you can, there's a, there's a whole bunch of
- 4:56different ones you can. You can find them online, you
- 5:00know, if Iraq Dainese Alpine Star, they sell them.
- 5:04But if you have other breed is generic brands for lack of a
- 5:06better word. That you can get.
- 5:09So if you are racing in the rain, you're not you're not
- 5:12completely wet. Yeah, my shoes took like a maybe
- 5:17a week to dry. All right, so you need some
- 5:19extra socks, you know, and yet always, you know, when you know,
- 5:23put the if you had a canopy up you got to be like, you know
- 5:26why? I'm on my like, my fourth or
- 5:27fifth canopy or something like that.
- 5:29I've invested in more expensive canopies as the ones that I can
- 5:33replace the parts on and so that way, if a leg is broken, I can
- 5:37replace it. Leg versus tossing, the whole
- 5:39canopy away, which is what I was doing for the first few that got
- 5:43destroyed. But now, you know or you know,
- 5:45if you buy one you can buy one with warranty on it and so that
- 5:50way, if something happens, you can get it replaced.
- 5:53So, you know, I'm not a big fan of warranty things but things
- 5:57like tense because the boil is gonna be.
- 5:58Bad isn't? There's no question about that.
- 6:00It is in this. Whether you are at the track
- 6:03when it happens or you're woken up by it by your tents laminate.
- 6:07Thank you Trail. It always finds the track for
- 6:10some reason. Yeah, for sure.
- 6:12So you know it's always good to maybe look at warranty for your
- 6:15tents and you know and you know Finding good ways to secure your
- 6:20tent so it doesn't it doesn't even if you I mean if you had it
- 6:23cemented and just the wind alone will just destroy the frame you
- 6:29know. So I still don't know how to
- 6:32really prepare for it. I mean I think I got the worst
- 6:34already as far as going to sleep you know.
- 6:37Got to have that part, right? Like he said you gotta pull that
- 6:4010 down, know the rains come in bring some extra shoes exercise
- 6:44Ox just rice, no have some shelter no seriously and even
- 6:49like you know be mindful of your toolbox because you don't want
- 6:52it you don't want to come out and your tool box is full of
- 6:55water cuz that's happened because my tent knocked bike
- 6:58over toolbox over. You know, them saying it was
- 7:03ridiculous and it's always having when you're like on the
- 7:07track. No, everyone around.
- 7:08You is on the track as well, because you guys didn't same
- 7:11session, right? Come back and everything's down.
- 7:13Yeah. And also, for sure you just got
- 7:15help with, you know, can keep it secure for a little bit.
- 7:18But, you know, because they even allowed and I had a tent.
- 7:21I cannot be destroyed. Just went, it was just so windy.
- 7:25I thought it was secured pretty well and it just rocked back and
- 7:28forth and, you know, I had to replace a like once a leg is
- 7:32gone, this guy's done. So, you know, it's, you know,
- 7:36whether something to think about And you know Walmart or any of
- 7:39these places you know get something that just keeps you
- 7:43dry because there's nothing like we do being around a track and
- 7:46being soaked in the rain. You know, they still haven't
- 7:50been on the track riding in the rain wearing ties, yet, that's
- 7:53still a goal. It well, you know, you you'll
- 7:56have that for 2023. I suspect that this point, you
- 7:59know, you just going to change tires and go out there and I
- 8:02need to be bike for that like everyone else.
- 8:05Well, you know, hey, you can have whatever you want, you
- 8:13know, if you don't have the, you know, even if don't have be
- 8:15bike, do you know? It's it's tough because I lie
- 8:19You know, I had back-to-back races last year and I didn't
- 8:22have time to change tires, fun of my races, and the weather was
- 8:25too, I can even do a lap on slicks so you know, it's tough
- 8:31when you don't have a bike for sure.
- 8:33It happened to be bike help but, you know, having a blue bike is
- 8:37twice the money as one bike and, you know, you know how that go.
- 8:40So but it is nice. And this year, I will have a
- 8:44beer bike so I'm excited about that.
- 8:46I will say that since I don't have a bike and I do have rain
- 8:50ties, but like I said, I didn't have time to change and I
- 8:53haven't written in the rain. I had to Forfeit a few races
- 8:56because it rained. Yeah, it's tough, man.
- 8:59It's a gamble. I mean, I think, you know, it's
- 9:04hard, especially when the rain is inconsistent, you know, it's
- 9:07one thing. If you just know, it's raining
- 9:08or, you know, obviously, and so when it's not, you know, you
- 9:13just gotta get good at doing a quick tire change, you know, you
- 9:16know, maybe you put your reins on and you have your slicks on
- 9:19time. Warm is just in case you go back
- 9:21and forth, you know, maybe you you you do a rain front and a
- 9:27slick, but rare, you know, it all, you know, you know, there's
- 9:33when it's when you when, when the conditions are tricky is
- 9:37that's but that's part of it. But, you know, that's the worst.
- 9:39So it's nice when you have a be bike and, you know, even even
- 9:43you know, if it's not full Reign and you don't have intermediates
- 9:46on and you need intermediates, it's really, it's still like,
- 9:48you know, even if you You ever be by you still be in a
- 9:50situation where you may not have the right tire set up you know,
- 9:54based on just unsure condition so it is a gambling and some
- 9:58folks take a Gamble and just run rains and if it dries out the
- 10:02strip terrains, some people go out there and slicks just wasn't
- 10:08ready to pull out. I felt so bad, I just like, I
- 10:12couldn't get my money back. You know, could chase the
- 10:14raised. It just gotta figure out a way
- 10:16to get out there. It's Gotta Be, gotta gotta be
- 10:18prepared for all situations. Yeah.
- 10:20That's why you have another set of rims.
- 10:21Yeah. But you get those some rains on
- 10:24there that's that's but that's the you know the weather thing
- 10:28part of it man. So that's crazy.
- 10:30So, you know, along with going to the track, it's, you know, I
- 10:34we were talking beforehand and, you know, your gas situation.
- 10:38You want to talk about that? I mean, yeah.
- 10:40Is a new Rider, you know? I was like, yeah, I'm just bring
- 10:43a little gas tank and number fill up my bikes.
- 10:46So when I'm there and prepared fully gassed and And you know,
- 10:52full tank. So having a full load of fuel,
- 10:56definitely plays A Part as you realize that you start writing
- 10:59more trying to get used to to see how much gas, you really
- 11:02need to like complete a race and not right on a full tank.
- 11:05You're right. The all start my practice is out
- 11:07on a full tank and then and go from there basically, right?
- 11:11And but I suspect this year, you're not going to do that.
- 11:14Oh yeah. You know, I feel like this show.
- 11:16I'm gonna try to be a little bit more competitive.
- 11:20I'ma keep the bike as light as possible.
- 11:22Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:23Because you know a full tank changes the weight of the bike
- 11:27and you know these days unless you don't like an Enduro race
- 11:32generally you know you're probably having a gallon, maybe
- 11:34a gallon and a half. If you're doing a lab or a so it
- 11:37depend on the track. Everybody has different.
- 11:40How much gas? You know, everything differ is
- 11:43different but you know, getting to the point where you can
- 11:46measure how much gas you put in, I got a buddy.
- 11:50He he just has a, he has it marked on a jug and he just
- 11:52pulls the gas into that level and then pours it in.
- 11:54So he stays consistent with with how much gas he puts in at the
- 11:59track and it feels different. I mean, you know, it's gonna be
- 12:03interesting. We'll talk about it after you
- 12:05try it because, you know, your practice sessions, you're
- 12:07running full tank. So really by the end of the
- 12:10first day, you might not even be at half a tank here.
- 12:13No, I'm just, I really don't need gas until I actually, you
- 12:16know, I'll do a practice session, they win the race.
- 12:20Before the Race, you got the practice before the race and
- 12:22then I may need just a little bit but at the same time, I
- 12:25don't haven't really tested how much gas I need for the race.
- 12:29Even is eight laps right by the when I come back my lights not
- 12:34on or anything. So I had maybe one race where my
- 12:38light came on and I was praying that I made it to the end, you
- 12:42know that was just me thinking I wouldn't make it it's not what
- 12:46is the one point four miles or something like that around the
- 12:49track. Like that.
- 12:50Yeah, I think it's 1.6 or six. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:54Little on the 1.7 and then, for gas, you know, I'm just like, am
- 12:57I going to make it? And I never really seen anyone
- 13:00run out of gas. I've seen one person actually
- 13:03brought need, he made it to the finish line, but he actually
- 13:05really matches got ya. So now, they know more
- 13:08interested into that field since I'm get more comfortable and I
- 13:12feel like I know the bike more and just ready to try it out.
- 13:17Yeah. No definitely gas plays a part
- 13:19in. For the faster Rider is, you
- 13:22know, the top guys. You know, they want a bike as
- 13:24light as possible and so you know, they are definitely
- 13:28measuring fuel differently. You know, you'll see folks, they
- 13:30got a fuel stick, they can see where the levels and stuff like
- 13:33that, is that it does play a part when Evie, you know, weight
- 13:37matters. You know, it definitely plays a
- 13:40part and you see the MotoGP guys do it and world superbike at
- 13:43that level. You know, these guys, they got
- 13:45it down to a science and you see people finish the race and run
- 13:48out of gas? Oh yeah.
- 13:49They also measuring because at that point, some of those guys
- 13:53are using that Mr. 12, so we gotta know how much they put in
- 13:56it in its correct. Exactly.
- 13:58You know, the MR2 tall and, you know, we can talk about that.
- 14:02Yeah, yeah. We, you know, race fuel
- 14:05definitely because they measure it in and they take it out at
- 14:09the end of the day because the fuel is bad for the gas tank and
- 14:14left in overnight. Oh, I'll just left in.
- 14:17So it that's a whole different Ballgame.
- 14:20And, you know, I know I 93 is generally what I've ran, I
- 14:25haven't ran, you know, my I think both bikes can go.
- 14:29I know the KTM can go raise fuel or gas pump, regular gas and and
- 14:35so I've done that, but I think this year on, especially on a
- 14:38smaller bikes, the race fuel matters because it gives it a
- 14:44little bit more. And I saw that last year, you
- 14:48know, racing against two guys. And And you know, it, I didn't
- 14:52know what it was, but I was just like I couldn't gain on these
- 14:56guys that I was able to beat before and then after the race
- 14:59he's like, yeah, I had to put rice field and to be able to get
- 15:02in front of you, you know. So, you know it that's it is a
- 15:07whole process. And and so I at this point I
- 15:09don't know if I'm, you know, I feel like I mean there's enough
- 15:14Contraptions and stuff out there that it makes me pretty easy.
- 15:18So I'm not going to sit here and say it's But it's just one more
- 15:21thing you add and you just got to be conscious of because, you
- 15:24know, you don't want to destroy your gas tank but you also want
- 15:26to win races. Yeah.
- 15:27So this year I'm definitely going out with more organized.
- 15:31I would say. So try to keep tabs on a lot
- 15:34more things. Such as tire, pressures and
- 15:37temperatures outside and gas levels, and try to write them
- 15:41down and try to stay more consistent and just improve from
- 15:45there. So, that's all you can do taking
- 15:48notes as a big part of Of this thing.
- 15:50And and haven't really, you know, it's more like mental
- 15:52notes. I'll take small little notes
- 15:54and, you know, on a book to remind me of stuff.
- 15:56But right. Oh, however it works, whether
- 15:59it's an on paper or up in your head as long as you know you
- 16:02have access to it. I for one I don't write.
- 16:06I barely write stuff down so but you know, through repetition and
- 16:11through, you know, like we've talked about from, you know, you
- 16:14know, your focus, right? Your routines and stuff like
- 16:16that, you that all helps you you know, To, you know locked in for
- 16:22for when you go out there and the lights go out, okay wait
- 16:26wait can't can't wait at all so you know all the tests are out,
- 16:31you know, like spikes is starting don't no doubt.
- 16:34So now, but with fuel and, you know, and and rain gear.
- 16:39And now, you know, as a new ride, I was a new racer, you
- 16:45know, you brought this up actually, you know, you know,
- 16:47developing a ride in style. You know, you know?
- 16:51Yeah, you're going through it, I've gone through it people,
- 16:54Everyone goes through it. Let's talk a little bit about,
- 16:57you know, your method and and what do you think?
- 17:00You know where you think your writing style should be?
- 17:04And how do you look at it at this point?
- 17:06And how do you remember will probably touch on to the
- 17:09cameras? Because you know, how do you how
- 17:10do you judge when you, how do you, how do you look at yourself
- 17:14and kind of fix or a door or whatever to your riding style?
- 17:19I mean, I I really didn't really have a ride in style.
- 17:22I thought I was just you know, just lean off the bike and you
- 17:27know looked at some Pro Racers, I always wanted to drag my knee.
- 17:30That was like a thing and once I did it just you know it's
- 17:34whatever it was more of just keeping the bike in line.
- 17:38So realize you had to develop a you know style.
- 17:42That's the most fits you on Corners at your pace.
- 17:46So you know I try to like hang off will, you know keep my
- 17:49elbow. Goes out or tucked in on the
- 17:51straightaway and keep my feet in the right position.
- 17:56I try to look at experts and you know, writers, we actually can
- 18:01get good times and see what they're doing with their with
- 18:06their position and how they switching over and try to
- 18:10incorporate that. How my body can Flex, how
- 18:14flexible I am right away. And then as far as the cameras
- 18:19goes, I always have Cameras on my bike, even on the street.
- 18:22So it's just something I've come through with and it's have been
- 18:25helping me with my lines in and my body position as well.
- 18:30So I think cameras play a little a good part in that.
- 18:34But yeah, how about yourself at? Yeah, I mean, I think for me,
- 18:39was watching, you know, braces. So you know, where the MotoGP
- 18:45world superbike a as soon as I got into racing in 13.
- 18:50I started, you know, signed up to MotoGP and started watching
- 18:54watching the series and you know, doing all that and you
- 18:58know, for in the beginning and you know, I had like what right
- 19:04in position. You know, I was sitting upright
- 19:06going down the straightaway on the SV, you know, I was I wasn't
- 19:10that I didn't know anything about like really tuck in and so
- 19:12on forth. So by like I think like 2015 you
- 19:15know, that's like I always more aware of like okay well I need
- 19:18to be doing these things. At this point and one of the big
- 19:23things for me was I wasn't in the shape.
- 19:26I was into to maintain that writing style to get off the
- 19:29bike and use your abs to, to hold yourself up and taking
- 19:33weight off the bars and stuff like that.
- 19:35And, you know, all that came with but but learning, I guess,
- 19:40because, you know, I, you know, I had to pull out a races
- 19:42because of I wasn't in shape and stuff like that.
- 19:45And so, in 2015, they about, I started working out more.
- 19:50Oh, you're really working out. And and so my I started
- 19:53developing a ride in style but a nice which bikes so it for 2016.
- 19:58So and I went for my in line to I went from Dryden twins from
- 20:01like 2012 to 2016 essentially twin line for.
- 20:07So all that took was a little bit different, getting used to
- 20:11you know revving the engine at at fourteen thousand RPMs 15,000
- 20:14RPMs versus what I was doing on the SV and stuff like that and
- 20:18just the bike was wider. You know, so my body position
- 20:22again changed because of that, you know, then you know
- 20:26following year I broke my hand and, you know, and and so forth.
- 20:30So it lost my spleen and and so I had to recover from all that.
- 20:34So my body position changed again because of injury in in a
- 20:40bad way, you know? So but I think by the end of
- 20:422019, I was probably fully recovered but my body posers
- 20:49phones. Just way off because I was
- 20:51compensating for my left hand and so I had to take all of, you
- 20:54know, 29 2020 and pandemic. So I really couldn't ride in the
- 20:59beginning. So we didn't start ride until
- 21:01like June. So I really didn't fix my riding
- 21:03position to like halfway through 2021 I guess.
- 21:06And and again from working out and doing all these things and
- 21:10you know, an understanding, you know, where I am, how flexible I
- 21:14am, and what I can do, and stuff like that.
- 21:15It's still a work in progress. I'm still working on stuff.
- 21:17There's still things I'm trying to work out.
- 21:20You know, I'm pretty good with moving my legs around now and
- 21:24doing all the right thing my head.
- 21:25You know, might, you know, looking ahead and keep in my
- 21:28eyes moving and stuff like that. The biggest thing.
- 21:31And we talked about this off a little bit is going right and
- 21:34getting used to now, you know, being off the bike and still be
- 21:37comfortable enough to still get on the throttle and pick the
- 21:40bike up and kind of sort that out but and also a lot of
- 21:45training. Right?
- 21:45And you know we're not writing is I consume a A lot of videos
- 21:51and a lot of stuff and if you know information and I say stuff
- 21:55like the eating food and consuming all that.
- 21:57But you know I mean so I keep learning and and and making sure
- 22:03you know like the like 2023 I feel pretty good about it.
- 22:06I feel like you know, my mind and my body and everything you
- 22:11know, is working as one and so I can't wait to get out on the
- 22:14track and and kind of see if it all lines up.
- 22:18But you know, training is a big Part of it and just you know
- 22:21understanding you know your body position is always changing.
- 22:25It's not like it's not a fixed position and so it depends on
- 22:29what you're doing. You're always dependent on the
- 22:31bike and everything is a feel so it's really like a lot of seat
- 22:35time and just also you know and understanding like yeah you know
- 22:39it does it's not to fix its what works and you know depending on
- 22:44your weight, you know, depending on if you want traction you just
- 22:48you just have to be one with your machine.
- 22:50No more seat time to figure all that out.
- 22:52Like I mentioned, I had to throw my street riding routine out the
- 22:57window when I got to the track. Like I tried tried to bring that
- 23:02to the track and, you know, learn through the, the Penguins
- 23:06School of how like, my style of riding and learning the track on
- 23:11like how they teach it and with the pictures that they put out,
- 23:15they just see my my hands just pushing the handle bars and, you
- 23:18know, I paid the price for that. So figuring out that you can't
- 23:23have bar input and realize you gotta lead off the bike, a
- 23:26little more corners and use your foot to push down and on
- 23:30straightaways like put your butt all the way in the back of try
- 23:34not to sit down as much as right.
- 23:36So many things to work on and I had throw my riding style the
- 23:38window. So still like you said, it's a
- 23:40work in progress. But look at all the fast guys
- 23:43and the people who can drag elbows and stuff like that and
- 23:47see how they getting down there and What are they doing to move
- 23:51the machine as fast as they're going?
- 23:53And try to you know, change my style to it shows that matter.
- 23:57But right training training training training does help is
- 24:01every time you lean over from left to right.
- 24:03It's like a mini squat, no doubt.
- 24:05And I was always still feel the same way.
- 24:07Like I mentioned, I was feel like Marquez, like I feel like
- 24:10the left hand is, like, how I like my best way of hanging off
- 24:15the bike, right? Right.
- 24:16We're not. Fortunate Loudon.
- 24:17Have that many right turn? So, When I, when I look at my
- 24:21pictures when I'm leaning to the right, I just feel like I'm
- 24:25frozen up and I just feel like I'm not coming off.
- 24:27Not looking ahead. No.
- 24:29So that's something that is just trying to work on and write and
- 24:32and I felt the same way. You know.
- 24:35The the Loudoun has a lot of left turns and not too many
- 24:38right turns. So you know, for I think for me,
- 24:42I when I started going to new tracks, I realized like I suck
- 24:45at, right turns and I have to work on on figuring out all that
- 24:49out. Out along the way, but it is,
- 24:52you know, that's the beautiful thing about if you can get two
- 24:55new tracks and different tracks, so that way you can kind of work
- 24:58on little work on, you know, different position riding
- 25:02positions and you know, so yeah. So for me, long time I still
- 25:07feel good left icz going. Right?
- 25:10I'm still, you know, still struggling with right turns.
- 25:14But I'm a lot better than I was a few years ago because of that.
- 25:19So I, you know, That is. But, you know, you know, one is
- 25:22going to be perfect going out there.
- 25:24And, you know, as you said, as you mentioned earlier, the seat
- 25:27time is is most important. If you can get cameras on your
- 25:30bike and you can face the cameras on you, then you can,
- 25:34you know, get get videos and then you can critique yourself
- 25:36and you can look at your riding position or just, you know, just
- 25:39looking at you mentioned, you know, looking at the lines, you
- 25:42know what I mean? They're so it is good to
- 25:44videotape yourself, even if you don't post it anywhere, just for
- 25:48training, not to mention that. The two right turns or I'll be
- 25:51right turns the main two. Right turns out allowing is
- 25:54one's going into a wall. That's all you got to like break
- 25:57really well and turn turn pretty well and then the next one is
- 26:02going up what they call as high side Hill.
- 26:04So it's got you. What does that turn for turn?
- 26:08Oh yeah that is yeah it's the right term but it's it's it's
- 26:13like a kink it's, you know, it's not like Turned three or, you
- 26:17know, you know or bold. All the left turns that you can
- 26:21make at it aloud. I'd only seen hides on that.
- 26:26Well yeah well you know yeah yeah I've had five right.
- 26:30You know when I when I was older Pirellis, I was running I would
- 26:34always get movement on the going up there with the bridgestone's
- 26:39not didn't assign at the Bridgestone well even the
- 26:42birthstones were good. Then I had no issues with
- 26:43bridgestone's in the Midlands but you know it is a that that's
- 26:48one place where you For sure. You'll, yeah, that's it.
- 26:51And I don't think about one. Hey, that's another line, right?
- 26:56Yeah. It's the right turns out loud.
- 26:59I'm still trying to learn as turn, right?
- 27:02And none of them are easy. Yeah, I've almost high-sided.
- 27:06It hit 182. I went down there.
- 27:10Hey, it's hard to go fast and not fall because they say so,
- 27:15yes, I definitely cameras if you can get them on your bike and,
- 27:18you know, face. On your sometimes, as you can
- 27:21see what you're doing and so forth and just, you know, being
- 27:25in shape. So that way, you know, the in
- 27:26the race is, you know, fatigued I've remember, you know, you
- 27:30know, going into into turn three and you know my arms were just
- 27:35done and I'm falling on the tank at a bike because I don't have
- 27:37any more strength and stuff like that.
- 27:40We'll just pull it out a races because you know, okay, I did
- 27:43three races and the fourth one is just like, yeah, I don't have
- 27:46it in me, you know. Now you know I'm in.
- 27:49A place where I can feel like I can do six races or indoor right
- 27:52now endure like GT use and stuff like that and and finished
- 27:56around and you know that's a good place to be because at
- 27:58least then you know it's taoyuan the machine.
- 28:02It's not you the machine and you physicality I had to potteries
- 28:07for their confidence. And yeah, that's really talk a
- 28:11little bit about that, you know, because that's, you know, I
- 28:14think we've all been there. Well yeah.
- 28:17I mean, Still trying to be conservative throughout the
- 28:21rounds. You know, can't afford a lot of
- 28:24this stuff I try to still participate, so still writing on
- 28:28tires that, you know, been running for a few rounds.
- 28:31So when I went down and one round, the best thing they say
- 28:36is to get back out there. So I tried to get back out
- 28:39there. I didn't change the set of tires
- 28:41and I think it was confidence but I got left from the pack
- 28:46that I run with. So, and Is drain me.
- 28:50And then who is running with experts to?
- 28:52So by like, lap two or three experts will catch a me.
- 28:55And I just didn't know if the tires had life or if I just my
- 28:58confidence was shot. So, the best thing for me at the
- 29:01time, was just the pull off the track and that was the first
- 29:04time I've done that and yeah, just I just my confidence
- 29:08sunshine. I just didn't know what to do at
- 29:11the time. So I went back and had to put my
- 29:13head down and think about what just happened and try to figure
- 29:17out how I can get back out there.
- 29:18Strong Yeah, I got some advice from a few riders that
- 29:21encouraged me which is really good and I think it should be
- 29:24given to everybody. So keep everyone, you know
- 29:28confidence high or build their confidence back up.
- 29:32That's you know we are all there.
- 29:34I mean I've had to do the same thing.
- 29:35I've done the same thing, you know.
- 29:36So, you know, getting out on a motorcycle in, especially
- 29:40having, you know, if you crashed it's hard to get back out
- 29:44sometimes and you know, some folks doing some folks don't and
- 29:47everybody is different. And whatever decision you make
- 29:51is that it is what it is, you know?
- 29:52It's like, yeah, I used to feel bad, but it's kind of like, you
- 29:55know, if you don't, if you're not in the right mind and then
- 29:59you're going out there racing other people and you don't have
- 30:01your focus. You're endangering yourself.
- 30:03And you can put others at risk. So it's like it's like, hey, if
- 30:07you don't feel you got it, you put it in and it is what it is
- 30:11because you are, you know, you know, when you have it, you
- 30:13know, and you don't and you know, some days is easy to jump
- 30:17out there and and Do you know, you know, five six races and
- 30:21other times you're like, you know, the bike don't feel right
- 30:24this don't feel right, you know you know all these things
- 30:27sometimes has to go right to for you to feel a certain way and
- 30:30sometimes you know especially starting out I mean you know I
- 30:33think my last few years is the most where I've like okay I'm
- 30:36fixing my bike and going back out there.
- 30:38You know all like I said before in other episodes, all of the
- 30:42first few years you know, up until 2019 2020.
- 30:46Like I said, if the whether it was raining not going If it was
- 30:49too cold, I wasn't racing. All these things had to be right
- 30:52where now it's kind of like hey we racing I'm going, you know,
- 30:57but that that took that getting that mindset, you know, took
- 31:00time I mean, you know, I was thinking Daytona I really didn't
- 31:04want, I still pulled out of a couple of races, but I did raise
- 31:07two races and I finished second in one of my races and I felt
- 31:11like crap, you know what I mean? But it was like, you know, just
- 31:15like, hey, I didn't think I didn't, you know, I just went
- 31:18out there and just said, hey, let me Just see what happens and
- 31:20then you know, having done that and it was like okay I can push
- 31:23a little bit so you know the it all takes time to get the
- 31:27confidence and to get to the point where you're going out
- 31:30there by any means. And you know and for the reason
- 31:32I think if you don't feel like it it is what it is.
- 31:34At the end of the day, you know, it is a cost to go in there, but
- 31:40if you're not in the right mind, it's better to be off the track
- 31:43and and be safe. It took me like the next round
- 31:48have to come up and talk. Like practice or a couple races
- 31:52to get my confidence. How do you save is fully back
- 31:54but at least back to a level where I know I can you know,
- 31:58keep up with the pack but yeah, it does hurt your confidence
- 32:01when you fall you gotta be mentally prepared for that Rider
- 32:05and you have to build it back up.
- 32:06You do not try to get back on the track and then you got to
- 32:09know when it's time to pull off to write yourself, safe and
- 32:12others and it's one thing to just, you know, fall and get
- 32:16back up. It's nothing when you jack
- 32:17yourself up, you know, and And and, and, and you take in a year
- 32:21off to recover or however, long to recover and then you gotta
- 32:24jump on that bike for the first time I got a, for me, you know,
- 32:29late I came back. My hand wasn't fully healed and
- 32:33I was and I was racing and it was painful to get a glove like,
- 32:37to get my glove off. Well, I can leave, I had to get
- 32:39help because we just so, you know, there's a lot going
- 32:43through, you know, your mind, you know, should I for me,
- 32:46extract extract. Go back out.
- 32:49But I had to learn how to ride without feeling pain and and I
- 32:54figured it out and yeah you know so the and at the build it took
- 32:58time to build a confidence up to build a confidence.
- 33:00Stop it took, you know I guess I started running in the middle of
- 33:06the pack probably in 2020 and 2024 know what I mean and my
- 33:12accident was in 2018 and I started riding in 2019.
- 33:15So you know it for everyone is Different.
- 33:19But it does take, it could take some time and is and it is what
- 33:22it is. So I the confidence part man is
- 33:24is huge, but it's baby steps and you know, and you get there and
- 33:30I can tell you on the other side of it now it's like, oh wow, you
- 33:34know, so when you know and these are experiences sometimes you
- 33:37know some people might come out to the track and and they run
- 33:39well they're running up front and and do really well but then
- 33:44you know you have an injury and then you really look, you know,
- 33:48you start to reflect Little differently.
- 33:50Yeah. Like this, like the first time
- 33:52it really hit me. I mean, like I fell before and
- 33:55won a and you know, I was like, okay I got back up and I just
- 33:59brushed it off and it was running pretty well.
- 34:03Did a good season did the next season and then now it's like
- 34:06more confident and when I felt this time mostly gets kind of
- 34:11really, I don't know what it was.
- 34:13Just it just shook me. It was like, wow, I don't know
- 34:15how I felt right, you know and now I hit That corner really
- 34:20slow. Now, you know, and it's oh yeah,
- 34:22it's just this confidence building and I didn't know I was
- 34:26hitting that corner so after the crash until I get feedback from
- 34:30friends, right. Exactly.
- 34:32And and that's the end, that's the beautiful part about it.
- 34:34Getting feedback and you know, getting back out there if it's
- 34:39for you not everyone. I mean, you know, like if you
- 34:42know, everyone is entitled to do whatever they want, but you
- 34:44know, if you want to get back out there, Yeah, you just take
- 34:50it one day at a time. And now you know you get to come
- 34:54out and feel good about 20-23 confidence is high.
- 34:57You finish the year well and you know can't wait, can't wait to
- 35:01get back out. So MotoGP testing is happening
- 35:07Supreme test, then excited about that because MotoGP is back next
- 35:13next month, right? So I think at Oz the first
- 35:15round, I got it. I got to double-check but I
- 35:17think so excited about that. Car clutch low is, is the top
- 35:24top Yamaha guy, pretty cool to see him still ride.
- 35:28And I wish she was still racing because he's a he's a he's a
- 35:31test rider for Yamaha and but he's a colorful colorful human
- 35:35being. So he's always, you know, he
- 35:37should be behind the mic somewhere and he'll be fun to
- 35:41listen to In other, in other news, Annika, Rosco had words
- 35:49for Alvaro Bautista, because they would test in, in her as
- 35:55and he crashed because he felt that, you know, she should have
- 36:01been Ridin with his words as with the amateurs, and because
- 36:06she was on our six, and he was on a V4, kind of golly.
- 36:10And, you know, She came back at him with saying well it's
- 36:17because I'm a woman while he's saying I should be with the
- 36:20amateur. What do you think about that?
- 36:25Yeah, like I said I think it was just the wrong word of choice
- 36:28but yeah, I don't, I think she should be out there.
- 36:30She's she's, I mean, she's on the right bike to be out there
- 36:36when it doing the testing, right?
- 36:38Like I was reading up on the story.
- 36:39I guess she's on our 60. Yeah.
- 36:41She's I mean, I don't know, I think she should be out there.
- 36:45I mean, I've been the track days, I've or the practice that
- 36:48I've been to. I've been riding with riders
- 36:50that are way faster than me and I'm sure they have no problem
- 36:54with it. So you think the mistake was
- 36:56more on him for not seeing her soon enough?
- 37:00Because I mean, you know, and I don't know like what pay she was
- 37:04running or I don't know if it'd explain that.
- 37:06Right? But yeah, like it could have
- 37:09been. It could have been a guy that
- 37:11crashed too, right? Yeah, no.
- 37:14My I guess I might take on it is probably she shouldn't have been
- 37:19on a track with him because it's a six hundred versus a thousand.
- 37:24And, you know, we have had incidents at Loudon with with
- 37:28small, you know, skillful guys on on, you know, on slower
- 37:32bikes, you know, you know, you have a faster bike coming up on
- 37:36somebody quick because it's just a difference in Horsepower.
- 37:39And, and I think that's the situation there.
- 37:41I think, for Alberta Say she should be with the amateurs,
- 37:45might just be a wrong choice of word because maybe they should
- 37:48be like a 600 group, you know, like, like, like at Loudon,
- 37:51right? I mean, well, allowing the six
- 37:53hundred and thousands run together, right?
- 37:55So, that's whoever set up the classes within the run, right.
- 37:58Exactly. So I'm not her fault right out
- 38:00there. Exactly.
- 38:01Exactly. You know what I mean?
- 38:02At the end of the day you're supposed to, you know you know,
- 38:05you you're supposed to see this, see all this stuff so I don't I
- 38:08think it's wrong tries to word. I don't think she's an amateur.
- 38:11I mean, she's a she won the world, the 300 soup.
- 38:13What 300 Supersport title in 2018, she's racing the MotoGP
- 38:20moto2, three. And she rates used while she
- 38:23reached the moto3 back in 2015. And now she's back in moto3 for
- 38:27the last couple of years and went to world superbike.
- 38:29So she got skills but I think not having the same size by I
- 38:35think like that all of a big bike should have been running
- 38:37together. Middleweight bikes we've been
- 38:39running together. You know, small bike should be
- 38:41running together because but again as a when when we had when
- 38:46we were raised and is different classes, the unlimited class and
- 38:49there's a super sport classes, you're running that anyway and
- 38:52the bigger bikes they got it. They got to recognize that it's
- 38:55a smaller bike but today they got to recognize what's in front
- 38:58of them and and and making take precautions.
- 39:00So so I think it is coming like it could have just been the
- 39:03session could have been pressed for time.
- 39:05So French says, I know we're different with the club racing
- 39:08but there's a I don't know what day it is but there's usually
- 39:12I'm a group 14. You're right.
- 39:15And then group 2 is expert. Correct.
- 39:17So sometimes there's Group, 1 &, 2, combined your rival track.
- 39:22Exactly. So the you guys experts and
- 39:24amateurs running in some have thousands and some have 600,
- 39:27right? And we're running out of
- 39:28practice. So if I have an incident with
- 39:30the expert, and that's like him saying that you should be just
- 39:33running with the amateurs. Right?
- 39:34That's exactly. No, I think it's just, it
- 39:38probably was that type of situation where they just had
- 39:40the combined, probably the timing.
- 39:43I don't know. No, right.
- 39:44Exactly. Yeah I think wrong choice of
- 39:46word hopefully he apologizes and and I don't think he's thinking
- 39:51that she's like an amateur Rider.
- 39:53Doesn't have the skills. I hope not.
- 39:55I hope maybe it's not I'm but I want to give the benefit of the
- 39:58dude benefit of the doubt until I hear him say otherwise because
- 40:02from what I can tell from you know all his years of racing in
- 40:06MotoGP and now world superbike. He's Ivan he's been one of his
- 40:12been, a classy do We want females in the sport.
- 40:15Also, shined our right to be out there.
- 40:17And I mean, she's part of the class of me.
- 40:19There was other 600 out there. I'm sure, you know, they just
- 40:22happened to be in the wrong wrong Spate.
- 40:24Right. Exactly.
- 40:25So yeah, he might have just been pissed in that moment, but
- 40:28definitely wrong choice because there's a lot of fast women.
- 40:32They keep kicking my butt, just too damn fast minutes, just to
- 40:35test this. If you do another lap, it's just
- 40:37a test. It is and that's another thing.
- 40:41Yeah. Yeah, it wrong.
- 40:42You know. And you know, I like racing for
- 40:44points that they needed for like, you know, two rounds left
- 40:47and, you know, it's like yeah, exactly.
- 40:51So yeah, man, so that's what's going on on the be forever.
- 40:54Cool podcast. My name is Rex 25.
- 40:57My name is t.j. 2000 coffee. We will catch you next time.
- 41:01Peace. I like racing for points that
- 40:45they needed for like, you know, two rounds left and, you know,
