June 19 - Bringing Fear Into God's Presence · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, June 19th.
• 0:11
Words that matter. Has a rumor ever gotten back to
• 0:16
  you? Something that someone said
• 0:18
about you that spread through your friend group before you
• 0:20
even knew what was happening? There's something about gossip
• 0:24
that moves faster than almost anything else.
• 0:27
Proverbs chapter 18, verse 8 nails it.
• 0:30
The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels.
• 0:33
They go down into the inner parts of the body.
• 0:36
Gossip is appealing. It feels like it tastes good in
• 0:39
the moment, but it goes deep, it sticks, and it does real damage
• 0:44
to the person being talked about and honestly to the person doing
• 0:47
the talking. David found himself in a
• 0:50
situation in First Samuel, chapter 21, where people were
• 0:54
suspicious and afraid of him. He was alone, out of context,
• 0:58
and being watched. Aheimlec, the priest, trembled
• 1:01
when he saw him. Why are you alone and no one
• 1:04
with you? Fear and uncertainty surrounded
• 1:07
David. He was walking through one of
• 1:09
the most vulnerable seasons of his life, fleeing, hiding,
• 1:13
unsure of who he could trust. And in those moments, Psalm 34,
• 1:18
verse 4 became his anchor. I sought the Lord, and He
• 1:21
answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
• 1:24
And Psalm 56 verse 3 echoes it. When I am afraid, I put my trust
• 1:29
in God, not in public opinion, not in his own strength or
• 1:34
reputation, not in who was talking about him or what rumors
• 1:38
were circulating in God. That's such a clear path forward
• 1:43
for all of us in a world where words, especially online, can
• 1:47
spread so fast and cut so deep. When people are whispering, when
• 1:51
fear starts creeping in, when the pressure of what others
• 1:54
think becomes overwhelming, the response that actually works is
• 1:58
to run toward God, not to keep up with the noise.
• 2:03
Proverbs also says in verse 9 that slacking in your work makes
• 2:07
you a brother to destruction. Half hearted effort and careless
• 2:10
living invite their own kind of chaos.
• 2:13
How you work, how you speak, and where you place your trust.
• 2:16
These things are all connected. Choose diligence.
• 2:20
Choose life giving words. Choose trust in God over trust
• 2:24
in your own management of what people think.
• 2:27
Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
• 2:31
being our refuge. When fear and gossip surround
• 2:34
us, help us to speak words that build rather than whisper.
• 2:37
Words that break. When fear creeps in about our
• 2:40
  reputation, our relationships, our future.
• 2:43
Remind us of David's prayer. I sought you and you answered
• 2:47
me. We put our trust in you.
• 2:49
Deliver us from fear and teach us to live with courage and
• 2:53
  integrity. In Jesus name, Amen.
• 2:58
What if the road ahead is not meant to be rushed, feared, or
• 3:02
walked alone? Going with God is a prayer
• 3:05
script series for believers who need more than encouragement for
• 3:08
the journey. They need prayer language for
• 3:10
walking with the Lord in real life, right where they are.
• 3:14
Through themes of pace, peace, paths, provision, and
• 3:17
protection, this series helps you surrender urgency, receive
• 3:21
steadiness, seek direction, depend on God's care, and pray
• 3:25
with confidence over the road before you.
• 3:28
Whether you feel stretched thin, uncertain, weary, or hungry for
• 3:32
a closer walk with God, Going with God invites you to move
• 3:36
forward with a deeper awareness of His presence and faithful

care. Order now on Amazon or visit

• 3:49
with God in today's three-year Bible reading plan.
• 3:54
  Proverbs, chapter 18, verses 8 to 9.
• 3:57
World English Bible. The words of a gossip are like
• 4:00
dainty morsels. They go down into a person's
• 4:03
innermost parts. One who is slack in his work is
• 4:06
brother to him who is a master of destruction.
• 4:09
  First Samuel. Chapter 21.
• 4:12
World English Bible. Then David came to Knob to
• 4:15
Aheimletch the priest. Aheimletch came to meet David
• 4:19
trembling, and said to him, Why are you alone, and no man with
• 4:22
you? David said to Aheimletch the
• 4:25
priest. The king has commanded me to do
• 4:27
something and has said to me, let no one know anything about
• 4:31
the business about which I send you and what I have commanded
• 4:34
you. I have sent the young men to a
• 4:37
certain place. Now therefore what is under your
• 4:40
hand, please give me 5 loaves of bread in my hand or whatever is
• 4:44
available. The priest answered David and
• 4:47
said, I have no common bread, but there is holy bread, if only
• 4:52
the young men have kept themselves from women.
• 4:55
David answered the priest and said to him, Truly, women have
• 4:59
been kept from us as usual these three days.
• 5:02
When I came out, the vessels of the young men were holy, though
• 5:05
it was only a common journey. How much more than today shall
• 5:09
their vessels be holy? So the priest gave him holy
• 5:13
bread, for there was no bread there, but the show bread that
• 5:16
was taken from before Yahweh to put hot bread in the day when it
• 5:20
was taken away. Now a certain man of the
• 5:23
servants of Saul was there that day, detained before Yahweh, and
• 5:27
his name was Doge the Edomite, the best of the herdsmen who
• 5:31
belonged to Saul. David said to Ahem, Lech, isn't
• 5:35
there here under your hand, spear or sword?
• 5:38
For I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me,
• 5:41
because the King's business required haste.
• 5:44
The priest said, Behold, the sword of Goliath, the Philistine
• 5:48
whom you killed in the valley of Allah is here wrapped in a cloth
• 5:52
behind the ephod. If you would like to take that,
• 5:55
take it, for there is no other except that here David said,
• 5:59
there is none like that, give it to me.
• 6:02
David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to
• 6:06
Achish the king of Gath. The servants of Achish said to
• 6:09
him, Isn't this David, the king of the land?
• 6:13
Didn't they sing to one another about him, and dances, saying,
• 6:16
Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
• 6:20
David laid up these words in his heart, and was very afraid of a
• 6:24
Chish, the king of Gath. He changed his behavior before
• 6:28
them and pretended to be insane in their hands, and scribbled on
• 6:32
the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down on his
• 6:35
beard. Then a Chish said to his
• 6:38
servants, Look, you see the man is insane.
• 6:41
Why then have you brought him to me?
• 6:43
Do I lack Mad Men that you have brought this fellow to play the
• 6:46
madman in my presence? Should this fellow come into my
• 6:49
  house? Psalm chapter 34.
• 6:52
World English Bible. I will bless Yahweh at all
• 6:54
times. His praise will always be in my
• 6:57
mouth. My soul shall boast in Yahweh.
• 7:00
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
• 7:03
O magnify Yahweh with me, Let's exalt His name together.
• 7:07
I sought Yahweh and He answered me and delivered me from all my
• 7:10
fears. They look to Him and were
• 7:13
radiant. Their faces shall never be
• 7:15
covered with shame. This poor man cried, and Yahweh
• 7:19
heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.
• 7:22
Yahweh's Angel encamps around those who fear Him and delivers
• 7:26
them. Oh, taste and see that Yahweh is
• 7:28
good. Blessed is the man who takes
• 7:31
refuge in him. O fear Yahweh, you his Saints,
• 7:35
for there is no lack with those who fear Him.
• 7:37
The Young Lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who
• 7:40
seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing.
• 7:44
Come you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of
• 7:47
Yahweh, who is someone who desires life and loves many
• 7:50
days, that he may see good. Keep your tongue from evil and
• 7:54
your lips from speaking lies. Depart from evil and do good.
• 7:58
Seek peace and pursue it. Yahweh's eyes are toward the
• 8:02
righteous. His ears listen to their cry.
• 8:05
Yahweh's face is against those who do evil to cut off their
• 8:09
memory from the earth. The righteous cry and Yahweh
• 8:12
hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
• 8:16
Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those
• 8:19
who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the
• 8:23
righteous, but Yahweh delivers Him out of them all.
• 8:26
He protects all of His bones. Not one of them is broken.
• 8:30
Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous
• 8:33
shall be condemned. Yahweh redeems the soul of His
• 8:36
servants. None of those who take refuge in
• 8:39
Him shall be condemned. Psalm chapter 56.
• 8:42
World English Bible. Be merciful to me God, for man
• 8:46
wants to swallow me up all day long.
• 8:48
He attacks and oppresses me. My enemies want to swallow me up
• 8:53
all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.
• 8:57
When I am afraid. I will put my trust in you.
• 8:59
In God I praise his word. In God I put my trust.
• 9:04
I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
• 9:07
All day long they twist my words.
• 9:09
All their thoughts are against me.
• 9:10
For evil they conspire and lurk. Watching my steps, they are
• 9:14
eager to take my life. Shall they escape by iniquity?
• 9:18
In anger cast down the people's God?
• 9:21
You count my wanderings, You put my tears into your container.
• 9:24
Aren't they in your book? Then my enemies shall turn back
• 9:28
in the day that I call. I know this, that God is for me.
• 9:32
In God I will praise His word. In Yahweh I will praise His
• 9:35
word. I have put my trust in God.
• 9:38
I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
• 9:41
Your vows are on me, God. I will give thank offerings to
• 9:44
you, for you have delivered my soul from death and prevented my
• 9:49
feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of
• 9:52
the living. Thanks for joining us on Bible
