- 0:26Speaker 2: the eight. I don't want to hear that we do
- 0:31Speaker 2: very well. And why do we do very well? Because
- 0:34Speaker 2: everybody else sucks?
- 0:36Speaker 3: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:41Speaker 3: Bill Handle and good morning everybody. It is a June No,
- 0:49Speaker 3: it isn't It is July twenty eighth.
- 0:52Speaker 4: You know what.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Here's the problem.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I'm looking at CNN and there was a story and
- 0:56Speaker 2: at the top of the right hand start it was
- 0:58Speaker 2: June ninth, and the story was.
- 1:00Speaker 3: They were replaying at June ninth story. So instead I
- 1:03Speaker 3: have to get away from looking at the screen and
- 1:05Speaker 3: I just on CNN. I don't know the calendar that
- 1:09Speaker 3: is correct.
- 1:10Speaker 2: So then I'm looking down at the sheet, my rundown sheet,
- 1:14Speaker 2: and there it is Tuesday, July twenty eight, twenty twenty six.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I should actually put that up because at.
- 1:21Speaker 2: The top it's here's Amy King Live from the KFI
- 1:24Speaker 2: twenty four hour newsroom, so I know who's in the newsroom,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and I know that. I throw to news and then
- 1:31Speaker 2: under that Bill Handle Show, so I know the name
- 1:34Speaker 2: of our show, and you're still going to call.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Her, and so you're still going to give the wrong.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Date, right, And then I have my date July twenty eight, Tuesday.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And then underneath that listen anytime on demand on the
- 1:48Speaker 2: iHeartRadio app. Our social is at Bill Handle Show, and
- 1:51Speaker 2: I ignore that completely.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Okay, there you go.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Inside baseball, there's a there is a chortal from Amy,
- 2:04Speaker 2: who I sometimes call Anne better.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Matter of fact, Good morning Amy, Good morning Bill.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Oh nice, bright yellow and white this morning perky. Oh yeah,
- 2:14Speaker 2: it is a summer day, yes, But just talking to Anne,
- 2:18Speaker 2: who said she's ready for summer to end, that's it.
- 2:22Speaker 3: We're done.
- 2:23Speaker 5: I'm done.
- 2:23Speaker 3: She's an old girl. Though it's gonna be it is
- 2:26Speaker 3: going to be.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, in any case, I don't know how to
- 2:34Speaker 2: respond to that. But summertime, it's gonna be hot again,
- 2:37Speaker 2: isn't it, Amy? Another any waves here?
- 2:40Speaker 6: Well, we've got another heat wave hitting later this week.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Today and tomorrow are going to be the coolest days
- 2:45Speaker 6: in the weeks. But of the week, but still we're
- 2:48Speaker 6: flirting with one hundred.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah, on the way to Las Vegas.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Do you ever stop at the town I forget the
- 2:56Speaker 2: name of the town, Bolton, I think with a thermometer,
- 3:00Speaker 2: world's biggest thermometer.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I think that's Baker.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, Baker, that's it. Baker Boy.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Yeah, bun Boy. Remember the bun Boy restaurant I used.
- 3:09Speaker 3: To sign all the time.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And the thermometer. Yeah, the thermometer is still there. I'm
- 3:15Speaker 2: doing a story about that coming up at seven point fifty,
- 3:19Speaker 2: a little bit of history, and it's just a great
- 3:22Speaker 2: story about that thermometer.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Didn't they any tell it recently or something?
- 3:25Speaker 2: It's for sale, now let's go in on it. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 2: then nothing to handle.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Thermometer. Yeah, it's one.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Hundred and thirty four feet high and a real interesting question.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I'm going to ask you or tell you why one
- 3:39Speaker 2: hundred and thirty four feet high, specifically, why one hundred
- 3:43Speaker 2: and thirty four feet was chosen for the hythe and
- 3:48Speaker 2: I will die. Ah, there you go, a.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Question question will Good morning, Good morning Bill and Kono
- 3:57Speaker 3: there you are way off in the corner. Good morning.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Well, okay, Cono is back. He was gone yesterday. Neil
- 4:03Speaker 2: is back. He was gone yesterday, Will was here and
- 4:07Speaker 2: by the way, Will, I have to tell you. And
- 4:09Speaker 2: because people really ripping to me for making as much
- 4:12Speaker 2: fun of you as I do.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I know it's love. Yeah, it is. It's because it's love.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Making fun of you is what it is, not you personally,
- 4:20Speaker 2: but and a lot of it is and to be
- 4:23Speaker 2: serious for a moment, a lot of it is projection.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Because I was so heavy my entire life. Everybody and
- 4:29Speaker 2: everything reminds me of being heavy set as it were.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Neil is moving.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Away from heferocity and moving right into I guess I
- 4:44Speaker 2: don't know if you're svelt, but.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Not at two thirteen, I'm not svelt. Okay? Who is felt?
- 4:52Speaker 3: On our team?
- 4:53Speaker 2: I would say Amy is certainly spelt Here we go cono.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Anne is not slender, and Anne is not.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Anne is a normal weight and is normal. She's a
- 5:11Speaker 3: tiny person. She is not. No, Lindsey is tiny, my.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Wife is and Anne is not a spinner?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Is that is correct? Okay?
- 5:28Speaker 4: Guys, it got so awkward, not for me, and you
- 5:35Speaker 4: look fabulous if you don't, I know, I'm not saying
- 5:39Speaker 4: she doesn't.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And how many times have I told you you great.
- 5:41Speaker 3: You're just not you know, you're.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Not a little tiny thing that is a little is
- 5:46Speaker 2: not a little tiny thing.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I know the secure person radio thirty years and you
- 5:52Speaker 3: are the most insecure person I've ever met.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Let me tell you, Neil, I know tiny things better
- 5:58Speaker 2: better than most.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Well, that's don't compare it against your business stand next
- 6:05Speaker 3: to all right, Yeah, why don't we do this? Okay?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Oh we've already started. That didn't take very long to
- 6:11Speaker 2: start the show. Okay, A lot going on today, heat wave,
- 6:14Speaker 2: oh very quickly. The heat is going to be how
- 6:17Speaker 2: hot today?
- 6:18Speaker 3: Amy?
- 6:19Speaker 6: Low one hundreds for inlanarius ooh ooh. And humidity muggy eh,
- 6:25Speaker 6: I mean some Midwest humidity, but.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It's going to be it's going to be hot.
- 6:30Speaker 5: And I don't know, I don't know.
- 6:32Speaker 6: If it qualifies as a Schwitz today.
- 6:34Speaker 2: It depends on how muggy. Okay, half a Schitz, I
- 6:37Speaker 2: don't think. I don't think we have that soundtob Yes,
- 6:43Speaker 2: I like that. No, I like schpitz light. Okay, guys,
- 6:46Speaker 2: do it, Okay, let's do it.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Guys.
- 6:48Speaker 2: It's time for Handle on the News with Amy, Neil
- 6:52Speaker 2: and me.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Lead stor.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Well, President went to Supreme Court yesterday and has asked
- 7:01Speaker 2: for basically an emergency order allowing his restricting male voting
- 7:09Speaker 2: executive order to go into place. And the President, I
- 7:13Speaker 2: think he's going to lose big time because by law,
- 7:17Speaker 2: Congress determines how elections, federal elections are handled, and he
- 7:22Speaker 2: is saying that he has the right to basically overturn
- 7:26Speaker 2: that provision using the Supreme using the Postal Service, and
- 7:30Speaker 2: a few other ways of doing it. And to me,
- 7:33Speaker 2: it seems crazy. It's like his birthright citizenship. I thought
- 7:38Speaker 2: he was nuts because his position was in direct violation
- 7:42Speaker 2: of what the Fourteenth Amendment said about birthright. What stunned
- 7:46Speaker 2: me is the Court came six to three. Three justices
- 7:51Speaker 2: agreed with him that birthright citizenship is not a right.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Doesn't even matter what the Fourteenth Amendment said. They going
- 7:59Speaker 2: back historically, why it was passed, all of that business,
- 8:03Speaker 2: and it really makes no sense on its face. It
- 8:08Speaker 2: says it same thing with this. It's the states the
- 8:13Speaker 2: control elections period done in the Constitution. He's arguing that
- 8:19Speaker 2: he can bypass that. He will get two or three
- 8:23Speaker 2: or four justices on his side. That's the part that
- 8:27Speaker 2: stuns me.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Not his view.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I think he's nuts, as you know. I mean, he
- 8:31Speaker 2: believes the presidency is that the legislature. The legislature doesn't exist. Okay,
- 8:36Speaker 2: I get that, But it's the courts who are running
- 8:40Speaker 2: in favor of him. By the way, he has lost
- 8:42Speaker 2: in every single lower court across the board. So we'll see.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I don't think Supreme court's good. Well, yeah, they heard it,
- 8:49Speaker 3: so we'll.
- 8:49Speaker 5: See, or they will hear it. I think go ahead,
- 8:53Speaker 5: take backs.
- 8:55Speaker 6: So Brian Koberger is currently serving four life sentences murdering
- 9:00Speaker 6: four University of Idaho's students in their home. Remember that
- 9:04Speaker 6: happened a few years ago. He pled guilty to avoid
- 9:08Speaker 6: getting the death penalty and avoid a trial. Well, now
- 9:11Speaker 6: he's filed a petition challenging the conviction. He wants to
- 9:16Speaker 6: take back his guilty plea. In a statement, he said,
- 9:19Speaker 6: my actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged
- 9:23Speaker 6: on by false promises and blatant disinformation, must be withdrawn.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a problem. First of all, the courts
- 9:33Speaker 2: almost never overturn these kinds of guilty. Please, because if
- 9:36Speaker 2: you look at the trial itself, there's video the judge
- 9:40Speaker 2: straight out did you do this, Yes, was there any pressure?
- 9:45Speaker 3: No? Do you admit the killing of this human being? Yes?
- 9:49Speaker 2: Over and over again he said that, and he confessed,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I mean right from the get go, and now he
- 9:55Speaker 2: is saying, no, none of that.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I take it all back.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I want my a guilty plea, not guilty plea reinstated,
- 10:03Speaker 2: or I want to in state my guilty plea or
- 10:06Speaker 2: not guilty.
- 10:07Speaker 3: And so the.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Court's probably not gonna not going to do this. And
- 10:11Speaker 2: you know who's representing him, nobody, He's doing it himself.
- 10:17Speaker 3: He's nuts. He is because he's not entimeled.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Now, if he was dirt poor, he's entitled to state
- 10:22Speaker 2: representation before conviction, not afterwards unless it's the death penalty.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Unless it's the death penalty, and then the state pays
- 10:31Speaker 2: for it.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Other than that, Nope, So we jumped from a murder
- 10:35Speaker 3: case onto another murder case. A judge judge ruled yesterday
- 10:40Speaker 3: that there is plenty of evidence to put David No,
- 10:44Speaker 3: it's the you know you keep on mispronouncing his day.
- 10:48Speaker 3: It's the forward w D fourtive. Yeah, he's they're going
- 10:53Speaker 3: to be able to put him on trial. No crap,
- 10:56Speaker 3: Oh yeah, dismemberment of a fourteen year old select Rebas Fernandez.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Thorty said that she had threatened him. I guess there's
- 11:05Speaker 3: a text that says, I will end your career in life,
- 11:09Speaker 3: a text message before the night before she was killed,
- 11:14Speaker 3: and she said she was going to expose their relationship.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Keep in mind, she was fourteen years old, I believe
- 11:19Speaker 3: when it started, and Creter this wing nuts life and
- 11:25Speaker 3: his career started when she was eleven.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I think fourteen is what she was upon her death,
- 11:34Speaker 2: And the bar to being held over for trial, binding
- 11:37Speaker 2: someone over for trial is very, very low, and so
- 11:40Speaker 2: I mean, just that text alone would.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Probably do it.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And then of course finding her body in his car
- 11:47Speaker 2: up the street because he's such a genius, killing her
- 11:52Speaker 2: and putting her parts of her in plastic bags and
- 11:54Speaker 2: then leaving in his car and parking three blocks away.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Hey, Billy, A question for you. Yeah, So if the
- 12:01Speaker 6: bar is that low, and you say that, just that
- 12:03Speaker 6: one piece of information, I would think, so, why did
- 12:06Speaker 6: they need to do four days of testy and it
- 12:09Speaker 6: was graphic?
- 12:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know why they went that far,
- 12:13Speaker 2: I really do not. And you maybe it's because they
- 12:19Speaker 2: the defense was attacking and putting up some kind of
- 12:23Speaker 2: a defense and so the prosecutors know that you know
- 12:27Speaker 2: which way the defense is going to go. Four days
- 12:29Speaker 2: on a preliminary hearing. Man, that is a long long time.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So I don't know the cameras. I wonder if even
- 12:38Speaker 3: if you delete the images somehow still are somewhere.
- 12:43Speaker 5: But is a camera on when the tesla is off
- 12:45Speaker 5: in part?
- 12:46Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, because that's how Yeah, that's how they're catching
- 12:49Speaker 6: the guys who are keying and vandalizing the testa tesla.
- 12:53Speaker 5: Guy.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I don't know right now.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Okay, so I've got to really rethink what I do
- 12:57Speaker 2: in tesla's.
- 13:00Speaker 5: You know, on cameras can't capture that, thank you, Yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 5: thanks very much. I have to go back and ask
- 13:06Speaker 5: for a refund. Not about Test Club, never mind, let's
- 13:11Speaker 5: just move on.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Proof of life. But Mitch McConnell yesterday released a statement
- 13:20Speaker 6: and a picture is actually his office did of him
- 13:24Speaker 6: and his wife sitting there smiling, with him still in
- 13:27Speaker 6: what appears to be a hospital bed. He says he's
- 13:30Speaker 6: still working hard to get back to his full schedule
- 13:32Speaker 6: of work in the Senate and also in kentuckyy at Kentucky,
- 13:37Speaker 6: and he says, keeping up with intense physical therapy for
- 13:41Speaker 6: his doctor's orders. He remains at that rehab facility, says
- 13:44Speaker 6: he's not ready to come back to Congress yet. And newsflash,
- 13:48Speaker 6: he's going to miss the upcoming twenty twenty six fancy
- 13:51Speaker 6: farm picnic. Yeah, a staple of Kentucky politics.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Right, which number one he never missed? And number two
- 13:58Speaker 2: the birthplace if that great periodical barnyard love.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Am I the only one that wants to go to that? No?
- 14:10Speaker 2: There are a few people as soon as they get
- 14:12Speaker 2: out of prison, would would love to go back.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I mean, just like the farm festival, will like pie
- 14:17Speaker 3: and stuff. I think so. I think so.
- 14:19Speaker 5: It's one of these.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it was one of those old fashioned, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 2: county fairs. La County Fair or Orange County Fair is
- 14:28Speaker 2: pretty good in that regard, but it's not that flavor,
- 14:31Speaker 2: that old Midwest flavor that.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Just doesn't wow as a matter of fact. All right,
- 14:37Speaker 3: So more on that. Kentucky Governor Andy Basher has a
- 14:43Speaker 3: message for Mitch McConnell. Either the state senior senator should
- 14:48Speaker 3: explain his long absence from the Senate details about his health,
- 14:53Speaker 3: or resign. Very plung letter just said Hey man, it's
- 14:56Speaker 3: been forty three days since you've been you know, hospitalized.
- 15:01Speaker 3: You haven't been doing your job and you have to
- 15:07Speaker 3: you have to give details. And how how can you
- 15:10Speaker 3: blame that?
- 15:12Speaker 2: I mean, well, he's blame but he is in a
- 15:15Speaker 2: rehab center. Uh, and he is rehabbing.
- 15:18Speaker 3: But do we know what it has? Do we know
- 15:21Speaker 3: anything about the sickness?
- 15:22Speaker 2: It's I mean, let me ask this. I mean, do
- 15:25Speaker 2: we have a right to know? I think to a
- 15:27Speaker 2: certain extent we do. I don't think we know we
- 15:29Speaker 2: have to know specifics.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:32Speaker 2: There is a statement from his doctor, or actually the
- 15:37Speaker 2: statement is from the doctor who handles the Senate. I
- 15:41Speaker 2: mean I think there's an official Senate doctor. And I
- 15:45Speaker 2: think they got an okay on that one. So uh,
- 15:48Speaker 2: it's that's one or the other. But I think I
- 15:50Speaker 2: had surgery. That's June.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yes, five days I was out and I got a
- 15:55Speaker 3: note from HR saying if you're out more than five days,
- 15:59Speaker 3: you have to go on leave. Like I couldn't. I
- 16:03Speaker 3: would have to shut down my email. I couldn't have
- 16:06Speaker 3: con Oh that's that's stupid. Yeah, I mean yeah, there wouldn't.
- 16:09Speaker 3: That's just dumb that I'm like a third Banana morning show.
- 16:13Speaker 3: And if I'm out more than five.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Days, okay, you're First of all, you're not giving yourself
- 16:18Speaker 2: enough credit. Neil, you're the fourth Banana. Okay, that's for starters. Second,
- 16:24Speaker 2: you know, five days you have to shut down. I
- 16:26Speaker 2: can't imagine. You know, when I had my back and
- 16:29Speaker 2: heart surgery within two weeks of each other. Remember I
- 16:31Speaker 2: was out for five months.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yes, we all remember. I knew and I remember that too,
- 16:37Speaker 3: sort of.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I was in and out of all that wonderful drug
- 16:40Speaker 2: you know, the litany of drugs that I was taking,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and they showed me. I don't have an email, Okay,
- 16:46Speaker 2: so that makes it easy. So I'm not an employee.
- 16:50Speaker 2: The same way, that's also true, I'm technically not an
- 16:52Speaker 2: employee of the station.
- 16:53Speaker 5: That is actually correct. Okay, one more and we keep
- 16:57Speaker 5: on going.
- 16:58Speaker 6: We got a fifteen year old killer. Allegedly there was
- 17:02Speaker 6: the shooting in Seattle near the Space Needle at a
- 17:05Speaker 6: food festival over the weekend, and police say that the
- 17:10Speaker 6: person that they have arrested in connection with that shooting
- 17:13Speaker 6: is fifteen years old. They are now looking for three
- 17:18Speaker 6: total shooters, so there's two other potential shooters. Three people
- 17:23Speaker 6: were killed. At least four others were hurt, including a
- 17:26Speaker 6: two year old. The good news is the ones who
- 17:28Speaker 6: were hurt have all been released from the hospital. But
- 17:30Speaker 6: still three people are dead, and they are saying that
- 17:32Speaker 6: it may have been gang related and it appears that
- 17:36Speaker 6: the shooters were shooting at each other.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Isn't the two year old still in the hospital.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's gonna be fine. Everybody's released.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I mean, the more of the ones that are still
- 17:45Speaker 2: alive are it looks like they're going to survive.
- 17:47Speaker 3: There's no life threatening injuries.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Do you see do you see a video of that
- 17:51Speaker 2: cart carting this kid away, baggy pants, really wild hair,
- 17:57Speaker 2: big kid, I mean for fifteen years old, really good
- 18:00Speaker 2: sized kid.
- 18:01Speaker 3: And then if you listen to.
- 18:02Speaker 2: The nine to one one calls, you'll hear that there
- 18:06Speaker 2: was rapid fire, sounded like on an almost automatic fire.
- 18:10Speaker 2: They were shooting at each other in this crowded place.
- 18:13Speaker 2: This is when I love it. Fifteen year olds are
- 18:16Speaker 2: going to be held to juvenile standards, which means you
- 18:20Speaker 2: basically do almost no time in prison. You know, in California,
- 18:24Speaker 2: it doesn't matter how heinous the crime that you commit.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Under the age of sixteen. If you're fifteen and you
- 18:31Speaker 2: literally take a gun and mow down a kindergarten class,
- 18:36Speaker 2: you're out of jail. You're out of prison at twenty six,
- 18:39Speaker 2: no matter what happens.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know what gets me is that if
- 18:42Speaker 3: I'm cornered by three fifteen year olds and I defend myself,
- 18:48Speaker 3: I'm probably going to jail. Oh yeah, I mean it's
- 18:50Speaker 3: just completely nuts, it is. But nowadays, what's a fifteen
- 18:54Speaker 3: year old packing a gun or nine four? Yeah, anything
- 18:57Speaker 3: like that. Yeah, us an Aduld Trump he's hosting Israeli
- 19:02Speaker 3: Prime Minister Benjamin NETANYAHUO not known New York. He doesn't
- 19:05Speaker 3: want to get arrested there. And Ukrainian President Voladimir Zelensky
- 19:10Speaker 3: today there's obviously war in Iran and Ukraine. Then they're
- 19:17Speaker 3: both at critical stages. They're both both leaders, very different
- 19:22Speaker 3: tact when it comes to defending themselves.
- 19:26Speaker 5: Originally Trump and Nittanyahu being incredibly close, but not so
- 19:31Speaker 5: close anymore. They look at what's upset with them, Yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 5: look at what's happening.
- 19:35Speaker 2: And Netanyaho is pushing, pushing, pushing the United States to
- 19:39Speaker 2: go against Iran under any circumstances. Trump has all kinds
- 19:43Speaker 2: of problems in term the United States and his approval level,
- 19:47Speaker 2: his approval rating based on what's happening on the war
- 19:50Speaker 2: to some extent, Zelynsky, who was on the outs, Zelensky
- 19:55Speaker 2: was on the outs, is now on the inns with
- 19:58Speaker 2: President Trump. And why is that? Because Alinsky is winning,
- 20:01Speaker 2: because there has turned the corner and Trump loves Oinner
- 20:06Speaker 2: And it is that simple. I don't think politics has
- 20:09Speaker 2: anything to do with it, but the president has some
- 20:12Speaker 2: doing some real juggling here. You know, what do you
- 20:15Speaker 2: do with Israel? What do you do with Tehran? What
- 20:16Speaker 2: do you do with Ukraine and Russia? I mean, he
- 20:19Speaker 2: is juggling a lot of balls, to say the least.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Hey, yo, yo, we have a settlement.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Johnson and Johnson has agreed to pay five and a
- 20:31Speaker 6: half billion dollars to resolve the remaining lawsuits that claim
- 20:36Speaker 6: talcum powder causes ovarian cancer. It ends litigation that has
- 20:41Speaker 6: been going on for more than a decade. We were
- 20:43Speaker 6: talking about this during wake up call and I'm like,
- 20:45Speaker 6: didn't this already happen? But they still had these pending
- 20:48Speaker 6: lawsuits and it has been going on for more than
- 20:50Speaker 6: ten years. If the deal goes through, it will put
- 20:55Speaker 6: an end to a long running source of trouble for
- 20:57Speaker 6: Johnson and Johnson as the litigation and hung over the company.
- 21:01Speaker 6: It's offered to make settlements before, but they were never
- 21:04Speaker 6: able to finalize them.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah. I've always wondered about this because the agreement, according
- 21:10Speaker 2: to this story Wall Street Journal, is conditional. Ninety remaining
- 21:15Speaker 2: claimants participating have to basically have to agree to the settlement. Well,
- 21:22Speaker 2: how is the five percent that don't agree? Well, I
- 21:25Speaker 2: guess they're they're decided they're going to go to trial,
- 21:28Speaker 2: and so they're still looking at trials, but not very
- 21:31Speaker 2: relative to the number of people that.
- 21:33Speaker 5: They're going to settle with. This thing is going to
- 21:35Speaker 5: go away.
- 21:35Speaker 3: But man, what is TELK used for?
- 21:38Speaker 5: I remember it like baby powder at them It's basically
- 21:41Speaker 5: baby powder.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And people use it all the time. People use talk
- 21:45Speaker 2: all the time on themselves. And I don't know if
- 21:47Speaker 2: there's a real connection between baby powder and the cancer.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I don't know if that's been proved. Remember a lar
- 21:56Speaker 2: that was used on apples to keep apple fresh.
- 22:01Speaker 3: You remember that, and there was an argument there.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Yeah, there was this huge settlement there and it turned
- 22:06Speaker 2: out there was no connection. So it's yeah, I don't
- 22:13Speaker 2: know what to do on this one. I don't use
- 22:15Speaker 2: baby powder, so I don't care.
- 22:16Speaker 6: A lot of women did, and a lot of women
- 22:18Speaker 6: got ovary in cancer.
- 22:20Speaker 3: But yeah, that's a kind of hard thing doing.
- 22:22Speaker 2: No, I understand, but it was there really was no
- 22:26Speaker 2: from what I understand now, there there was an instance
- 22:30Speaker 2: of an increase, but they really couldn't explain it. It
- 22:33Speaker 2: was causal increase. More people got cancer who use it
- 22:37Speaker 2: than didn't. Does that mean that that was the cause?
- 22:41Speaker 2: You know that that argument. It wasn't a direct A
- 22:44Speaker 2: equals B equals C. And that is usually the case
- 22:48Speaker 2: when you're out when you're looking at these the suits
- 22:53Speaker 2: against drug manufacturers and food manufacturers that that matter.
- 22:59Speaker 3: We're moving on. Yeah, one more. Okay, So audio clips
- 23:02Speaker 3: that we've been hearing about for a while Former President
- 23:06Speaker 3: Joe Biden's conversations with his biographer appears to support what
- 23:11Speaker 3: former Special Counsel Robert Hurr found in his twenty twenty
- 23:15Speaker 3: four report that is, Biden disclosed classified material, was forgetful,
- 23:21Speaker 3: and continued to possess classified material after leaving his post
- 23:25Speaker 3: as Vice president. So he says things like they didn't
- 23:29Speaker 3: even know I had this and stuff like that. But
- 23:33Speaker 3: the audiotapes, Biden can be heard cavalierly discussing the notes
- 23:38Speaker 3: that he kept as far.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Us which is illegal, which is completely illegal. Now theoretically,
- 23:43Speaker 2: can he be tagged for this?
- 23:46Speaker 3: Yeah? I think so.
- 23:47Speaker 2: The point is, you know, what would the Trump administration
- 23:52Speaker 2: go after him? Because if he did disclose classified material,
- 23:56Speaker 2: that is a crime.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Not allowed to do that.
- 24:00Speaker 2: So I wonder what the politics would be. I'll tell
- 24:03Speaker 2: you what the defence is going to be. He is
- 24:05Speaker 2: so old and decrepit, he doesn't even remember, I think legitimate.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I didn't they already say that they wouldn't. It was
- 24:12Speaker 6: it her who said we're not going to prosecute him
- 24:14Speaker 6: because he's going to come across as an old guy.
- 24:16Speaker 5: Who Yeah, but that's not compromise.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's her, But that doesn't mean that the
- 24:22Speaker 2: Trump administration is going to go the other ways. It's
- 24:24Speaker 2: it's mercurial. I just think the politics of it are
- 24:27Speaker 2: so gone and dead. But you know, remember the election
- 24:30Speaker 2: of twenty twenty was still rigged, rig rigged, so and
- 24:33Speaker 2: I don't know the answer to that.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I really there was nothing militious, There is nothing, no
- 24:38Speaker 3: it was not harmuss in any way, right.
- 24:41Speaker 2: No, I don't think so. I don't think so. It
- 24:44Speaker 2: was just the disclosing of classified material. And I don't
- 24:47Speaker 2: even think the argument was that had harmed.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Us in anyway.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Not dismissed. A judge has ruled that a defense request
- 25:00Speaker 6: to dismiss murder charges is denied. Fraser Boehm is the
- 25:05Speaker 6: person charged with murder. Defense attorneys had asked the court
- 25:09Speaker 6: to throw out the charges against Boehm, who was allegedly
- 25:13Speaker 6: speeding on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu in twenty twenty
- 25:16Speaker 6: three when he lost control of his car and hid
- 25:20Speaker 6: parked cars, and those parked cars then crashed into four
- 25:24Speaker 6: sorority sisters from Pepperdine University, killing all four of them.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Yeah, we're not talking about guilt or innocence here. It's
- 25:31Speaker 2: simply a technical discussion and argument whether that crash met
- 25:37Speaker 2: the standard for murder or did it not. That's the
- 25:41Speaker 2: technical argument, is that under these circumstances, did it meet
- 25:45Speaker 2: those standards, and the defense is going to argue it
- 25:48Speaker 2: did not. State of mind, there's a lot going on here,
- 25:51Speaker 2: but this is when they talk about technicalities in the law.
- 25:56Speaker 6: Well, and could this be one too where you know,
- 25:59Speaker 6: like sometimes that you'll come back with a non guilty
- 26:01Speaker 6: verdict be and then they'll say they overcharged.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Him, yeah yeah, and they'll go What usually happens is
- 26:08Speaker 2: that a bunch of charges manslaughter and murder, and and
- 26:12Speaker 2: and and the jury comes back and only goes to
- 26:16Speaker 2: the lesser conviction because if the prosecutor goes just one
- 26:22Speaker 2: ghosts for murder, and the defense argues, this wasn't murder.
- 26:28Speaker 2: That if the jury buys that, that's an acquittal. Thank you,
- 26:32Speaker 2: it was not murder.
- 26:33Speaker 3: You walk.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Now, if you include all of the lesser charges, then
- 26:38Speaker 2: the jury has the ability to choose. It's like going
- 26:41Speaker 2: to an old time Chinese restaurant. You take from column A,
- 26:44Speaker 2: you take from Poulain B Colum B. And if you
- 26:47Speaker 2: have enough people, then you get to add another order
- 26:50Speaker 2: of Gung pow chicken.
- 26:52Speaker 5: That is the legal definition.
- 26:55Speaker 2: This was what I taught in law school, which is
- 26:57Speaker 2: why I didn't last very long as a professor in
- 26:59Speaker 2: lawaw school. I just wanted to point that out. Moving on,
- 27:04Speaker 2: Does that help, by the way, Amy, yes, thank you. Wow.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I don't see how California has got enough. Dick in
- 27:13Speaker 3: COVID nineteen. You remember that that fun time we had.
- 27:17Speaker 3: So health officials they do a couple of things. They
- 27:20Speaker 3: see the rising test positivity rates go up in emergency
- 27:23Speaker 3: room visits, those types of things, and then they go
- 27:26Speaker 3: through the poop, They go through wastewater and they test
- 27:30Speaker 3: the wastewater. I guess you know urine and your poop
- 27:35Speaker 3: have the tail tail til signs of COVID there. So
- 27:44Speaker 3: this has been happening though during the summer months that.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to believe that COVID is still around,
- 27:50Speaker 2: but it is. It's become now, it's become basically endemic.
- 27:53Speaker 2: It's part of life.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Every year.
- 27:56Speaker 2: It's like the flu comes in and it's certainly not
- 27:59Speaker 2: what the extent that it was or the the seriousness
- 28:05Speaker 2: that was of course during COVID when over a million
- 28:07Speaker 2: Americans died.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Tickets, free tickets.
- 28:12Speaker 6: This is kind of cool, except I would like them
- 28:16Speaker 6: LA twenty eight and the LA Rams have agreed to
- 28:20Speaker 6: give away tickets to kids. So they dropped a batch
- 28:24Speaker 6: of one thousand tickets to ten different organizations and the
- 28:28Speaker 6: kids are going to get to see flag football and
- 28:31Speaker 6: swimming at the twenty twenty eight games, which are two
- 28:34Speaker 6: of the really high demand events. So that's very cool
- 28:39Speaker 6: for the kids from a place called Home after School,
- 28:42Speaker 6: All Stars, al Wooton Junior Heritage Center, Boys and Girls
- 28:46Speaker 6: Clubs of Metro La, Brotherhood, Crusade, Heart of Los Angeles,
- 28:50Speaker 6: Project Blues, Social Justice Learning Institute, Swim up Hill, and
- 28:54Speaker 6: the YMC Metro La.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Question, after watching NFL games, growing up on NFL and
- 29:01Speaker 2: college football flag football and I don't care how good
- 29:06Speaker 2: players are, doesn't that seem just a little bit of
- 29:12Speaker 2: you know, not real football kind of football.
- 29:14Speaker 6: I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. I've
- 29:16Speaker 6: never watched a professional flag football.
- 29:19Speaker 2: There isn't a professional flag football team out there, not
- 29:22Speaker 2: that I know of our league.
- 29:24Speaker 3: You still have to you still have to be athletic
- 29:27Speaker 3: and run well, no, no, I'm not arguing that.
- 29:29Speaker 2: No, I'm not arguing that you have to be athletic
- 29:33Speaker 2: and strategic standing on your on your hands Does that
- 29:36Speaker 2: mean you're gonna do Olympic hand standing on your hands races?
- 29:40Speaker 3: So now they can not get brain damage? Yeah, that's half.
- 29:46Speaker 2: The fun of football is watching these guys get brain damage.
- 29:50Speaker 3: What's football?
- 29:51Speaker 2: A day without brain damage in football is like a
- 29:54Speaker 2: day without Sunshine.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Okay, okay, we're done.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Coming up Ran Paul and Anthony Fauci. Woo that you
- 30:05Speaker 2: imagine that fight is still continuing with Fauci and I'll
- 30:09Speaker 2: dive into that when we come back. KFI AM sixty.
