- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Father's Business Devotional Podcast, which flows from the heart of Sylvia Gunter and her deep desire to help people know God.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: May God quiet your spirit and soul, draw you close to the Father's heart, and anchor you in the unshakable truth that you are deeply loved and securely held.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Praise is adoration of God for who he is, his person, his character, his names.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: It is loving God because he is God.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: The Bible gives more exhortations to praise God than to pray, because God is altogether lovely and holy and completely worthy of our worship.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I believe the Bible also commands us to praise because it aligns our spirit, souls, and body with the fullness of who He is as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: There are many reasons found in the Bible to praise.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Here are just a few.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: God delights in it.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: God is do it for who he is.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: God even inspires the praise that wells up in us to praise him.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: God commands it in Scripture.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Jesus modeled it by example in the Lord's Prayer.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Praise is the God given garment in exchange for the spirit of heaviness.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: So as we praise him, we are lifting ourselves up out of deep and dark places.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And praise stirs up faith.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: There are many more reasons to praise God listed in Scripture.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: You may be facing a battle today.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Praise is a strategic weapon that comes before spiritual victory or deliverance.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: God releases power against the enemy when his people praise.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Praise has been winning wars throughout the ages.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Here are just a few biblical examples.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: In Joshua 5, verses 14 and 15, and in chapter 6, verse 2, Joshua bowed to worship, and God told him that Jericho was already in his hands.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: As the Israelites marched around the city, they walked out the victory already won and worship.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: In Judges 7.15, Gideon bowed to worship, returned to his camp, and reported, Arise, God has given the enemy into our hands.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Second Chronicle 2022 says that the battle shifted when they began singing and praising.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: The Israelites used praise at God's direction for winning a tremendous victory.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: They had not even reached the battle front when God acted and completely destroyed the threefold enemy ahead of them.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: In Acts 16, 25 and 26, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns, and suddenly a violent earthquake shook the foundations of the prison.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: The prison doors flew open and the prisoners were set free.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: It is sometimes more important to persevere in praise than to continue in petition.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Why would I say that?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: Because in praise we take our eyes off of people and stop struggling on the human level.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: We focus our spiritual eyes on God and see beyond ourselves and our problems.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: Then we can lay hold of His infinite ability, His infinite availability, and His infinite sovereignty.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Praise stirs up our faith to stand in His mighty name.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Because God has already judged the adversary, and He is a defeated foe.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Praise executes upon him the judgments that God has already written, according to Psalm 149, six through nine.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: And because praise acknowledges the victory Christ has already won, Jesus is far above all rule, authority, power, and dominion and every name in this age, according to Ephesians 1, 20 and 22.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: His victory over Satan was legally accomplished at Calvary.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Praise speeds up the victory in our own personal lives.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So let us use our valuable weapon of praise for the battles that we are facing today.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Instead of focusing on the issues in front of us, lift your eyes to the victor who has already won the war.
