- 1:00Speaker 2: Day damn he tha okay aka.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I'm not riding with the sidon the gods that those
- 1:18Speaker 3: poor boats.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Those poor boats, boy, Yeah, not riding with the sidon
- 1:25Speaker 1: f for gotten.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I don't know about that one. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:29Speaker 2: That was the one that I was gonna hate. I
- 1:30Speaker 2: don't know it was the tha. I'm still not sure.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I understand that when that one's just like flying right
- 1:37Speaker 1: over my head right now.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It's I have the word thick in if you have
- 1:44Speaker 3: to explain it. It's not a good.
- 1:48Speaker 2: But some people they might have been like, yo.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Someone's lapping out there and to you, thank you, yes
- 1:54Speaker 3: for me. You can get off. You can get off
- 1:56Speaker 3: the floor now.
- 1:57Speaker 1: But I'm also not going to say the gods because
- 2:01Speaker 1: we are here to discuss Odyssey, the massive major IT
- 2:09Speaker 1: movie out now sold out everywhere, Christopher Nolan with his
- 2:14Speaker 1: latest epic joint in theaters now right off top.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I'd say, go see this joint.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You know, that's my first you know, right away, I'd say,
- 2:23Speaker 1: definitely go see it as big as screen as possible.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I think it was made for what was the Imax.
- 2:31Speaker 3: It was seventy millimeters, yeah, seventy milimeters.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They actually invented a new camera for it because Imax
- 2:38Speaker 1: cameras are notoriously heavy and they make hella noise, so
- 2:43Speaker 1: it's very hard to shoot dialogue. That's because the camera
- 2:46Speaker 1: itself is making so much noise. So they invented a
- 2:50Speaker 1: new camera so that they could shoot every shot in
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'm at seventy millimeter and it shows you see it.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's just like when you're watching Centers and I guess
- 3:00Speaker 1: one but after another was also shot on film. Because
- 3:03Speaker 1: it's it's weird now that you have to say it,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but so many films are not shot on film where
- 3:08Speaker 1: when you actually see real film grain. I mean, in
- 3:12Speaker 1: my screening, I saw where like one of the frames
- 3:15Speaker 1: was burned out, you know, it was white burnout for
- 3:17Speaker 1: a second. Yeah, it was quick, but I eat that. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and I don't mind it. You know, it's like ooh,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know that's the film. Yeah, So it's definitely seventy
- 3:26Speaker 1: milimeter film. Christopher Nolan, you know, and if you're a
- 3:29Speaker 1: Christopher Nolan fan, definitely, which I am. I'm not like
- 3:34Speaker 1: Christopher Nolan is God, you know, some people think, but
- 3:37Speaker 1: I do think he is a great filmmaker, a great director.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I've loved him since Memento.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I mean, he's he's been one of my favorites since
- 3:44Speaker 1: day one, since the first of I saw his work.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And this is definitely one of my favorites of his.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I would say.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I mean, he has he definitely has like a style,
- 3:55Speaker 3: you know what I mean. You know, when You're watching
- 3:58Speaker 3: Nolan's film and I've never seen it his Memento, Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 3: I never I've never seen it, but like I what, Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I was introduced to Nolan with the Dark Night series.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, that's that's where I got into the Nolan verse.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Oh man, but have you seen The Prestige? I don't
- 4:17Speaker 2: think so. I can't about The Magicians with Hugh Jackman
- 4:20Speaker 2: and uh no, no I have not.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You're about to be I mean those are just yeah, yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you need to watch those. Those are I mean, the
- 4:29Speaker 1: Prestige and the Mento and the Proceige are going to
- 4:33Speaker 1: f you up. Like yeah, but Memento and The Prestige, man,
- 4:38Speaker 1: are just two really great films and two of his best.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You know really, I would say, yeah, they're probably two
- 4:45Speaker 1: of my favorites of his easily.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Okay, cool, Yeah, yeah, definitely will check them out. I
- 4:49Speaker 3: mean up, yeah, is that one of those? Is that
- 4:52Speaker 3: one of those films where I need, like, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 3: like a watch it during the day.
- 4:56Speaker 2: No, it's just is it gonna make me say?
- 4:58Speaker 1: It's such an incredible twist and it's like when I
- 5:02Speaker 1: rewatch it, I've forgotten part of the twist. And so
- 5:05Speaker 1: it fucked me up again, you know when I saw it,
- 5:08Speaker 1: because it's such an incredible twist and that's all I'll
- 5:12Speaker 1: tell you. And it is, and that was like why
- 5:15Speaker 1: I knew when they started, when he got The Dark Knight,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I was like when he got Batman begins, I was
- 5:20Speaker 1: I was like, yes, you know, and he's going to
- 5:22Speaker 1: do it, And then he did, and that's what turned
- 5:24Speaker 1: him into you know, the big dog that he is today.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Yeah, well we definitely see like all of like his
- 5:31Speaker 3: you know, time and film coming to this point with
- 5:34Speaker 3: the Odyssey and his and his telling of it. Definitely
- 5:39Speaker 3: as like somebody who you know you've read that you've
- 5:42Speaker 3: read the Odyssey. I've read the Odyssey. Well you've read
- 5:45Speaker 3: the Odyssey.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Right, Yes, I do believe I've read it. I took
- 5:50Speaker 1: Latin for two years this phull disclosure in high school.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I took Latin for two years, and I think we
- 5:56Speaker 1: read at least parts of it in Latin. I've definitely
- 6:00Speaker 1: read it. You know, I knew the story going in.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I knew all about it. I knew how long he took. Yeah,
- 6:07Speaker 1: and I do remember, I mean his high school has
- 6:09Speaker 1: been a long time, folks. But I do remember I
- 6:11Speaker 1: think I did read it in Latin, so.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Yeah, damn in Latin. Yeah, I'm a dork.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I mean that's that's awesome. But it like that's a
- 6:20Speaker 3: that's a story to read, you know what I mean?
- 6:22Speaker 1: It is.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I like same as you not in Latin.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That's like one of the first you know, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 3: you got your Lord of the Rings, you got your
- 6:30Speaker 3: your your fantasy stories, but this is like the one
- 6:33Speaker 3: of the fantasy stories, and for me personally, like one
- 6:38Speaker 3: of the When I got out of this film, literally
- 6:40Speaker 3: the first thing I thought was like I got I
- 6:42Speaker 3: got in my car, and I was like that mother
- 6:44Speaker 3: for Homer wrote a damn poem, you know what I mean,
- 6:47Speaker 3: Like his epic was It's just like how how old
- 6:50Speaker 3: old is this?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Now?
- 6:51Speaker 3: Like a three thousand year old you know story that
- 6:54Speaker 3: they just keep you know, it's classic, like it stands
- 6:58Speaker 3: the test of time. And now we were lucky enough
- 7:01Speaker 3: to get Nolan's version of it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I mean to say it influenced scenes is just understating
- 7:08Speaker 1: it a bit, because it's you know, it is the Yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 1: it is.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It is the influence of everything.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You know, the homework tale, you know, the epic tale,
- 7:16Speaker 1: the epic Yeah.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I got out.
- 7:19Speaker 3: This is the Game of Thrones, like this is the
- 7:21Speaker 3: this is the throne that they're fighting for, you know
- 7:23Speaker 3: what I mean, the Home of Ithaca like that, like
- 7:25Speaker 3: this is the you got everything in it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it all comes from this.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So and a lot of Nolan's stories have been very homework,
- 7:33Speaker 1: you know, stories and tales.
- 7:35Speaker 2: So this was him, you know, really get into the
- 7:38Speaker 2: essence of it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: You definitely, you know, experienced odyesty, probably more than me.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Like I said, I know the story. I knew that
- 7:44Speaker 1: this man took forever to get home. I knew all
- 7:47Speaker 1: the trials and tribulations.
- 7:48Speaker 2: That he did.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I would say, like, you know, I already
- 7:52Speaker 1: said I loved the film, right, I loved everyone in it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I thought the thing, the script writing, everything was pretty exceptional.
- 8:00Speaker 1: There was a you know, some goofy moments was saying
- 8:03Speaker 1: script like Matt Damon saying I'm bringing it all, you know.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, there was a I think he I
- 8:09Speaker 3: think he even said at one point like we're going
- 8:11Speaker 3: fucking home or something like that, and I was like,
- 8:14Speaker 3: I'll let it pass.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, it's Matt Damon, It's Matt Damon.
- 8:18Speaker 1: But I also thought Matt Damon was really dopenness because
- 8:21Speaker 1: you see him as the young Odysseus where he starts
- 8:25Speaker 1: out and he's very you know, wise practicing, you know,
- 8:28Speaker 1: witty and all this stuff, and then you know, this
- 8:31Speaker 1: journey wears on this.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Man and in a horrible way, and so so many men.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and so by the when he comes home, you know,
- 8:42Speaker 1: it's like this man is broken and you see that
- 8:44Speaker 1: through Matt Damon's acting. So yeah, I know he's going
- 8:47Speaker 1: to be nominated for Best Actor, and I think, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 1: he deserves it, and.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I there's like little I mean, I'm with I'm with
- 8:53Speaker 3: you as well. Like I to be honest, it took
- 8:57Speaker 3: me a minute to get used to Tom Halls Telemach
- 9:01Speaker 3: Telemachus his son, but it took me a while to
- 9:06Speaker 3: warm up to his character. I will also say that
- 9:09Speaker 3: I also when after I read The Odyssey in high school,
- 9:13Speaker 3: I was exposed to the ninety seven. Uh it was
- 9:16Speaker 3: a it was a TV series. It starred armand de Sante,
- 9:20Speaker 3: and that one I actually think had it was a
- 9:26Speaker 3: little bit more wild and gory because they were Nolan
- 9:30Speaker 3: used a lot of like practical effects, like as y
- 9:33Speaker 3: as Time has gone on, there's there's there's a lot
- 9:36Speaker 3: of practical effects, but like for me specifically, like, for example,
- 9:40Speaker 3: the scene on Circe's Island, the scene that I saw
- 9:43Speaker 3: from the ninety seven series, I'm like, man, if they
- 9:46Speaker 3: had done it that way, oh, it would have been
- 9:48Speaker 3: real crazy. They still did a really awesome way of
- 9:51Speaker 3: like the with you know, with the animal morphing and
- 9:53Speaker 3: all that. But yeah, so I had this like thing
- 9:58Speaker 3: that I was comparing to the entire time of this,
- 10:01Speaker 3: this ninety seven telling of it. But the practical effects,
- 10:07Speaker 3: my god, and reading more about like as Time is
- 10:10Speaker 3: going on, I don't I don't know if you saw,
- 10:12Speaker 3: but like they're even they were using actual like giants
- 10:15Speaker 3: like to that point, you know, they were using like
- 10:17Speaker 3: folks over seven feet tall.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Matt Damon stunt double was a very
- 10:24Speaker 1: short woman.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Yes, yes, for a certain scenes.
- 10:26Speaker 1: So that they could get those giants and yeah, and
- 10:29Speaker 1: uh and the giants and the perspective and all that.
- 10:33Speaker 2: And that's the same tricks that they were using.
- 10:35Speaker 1: In Lord of the Rings especially, They've had a lot
- 10:38Speaker 1: of perspective shots and that and that's why that was
- 10:41Speaker 1: such an incredible film.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I didn't even know going in how much of it.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Was practical effects. You know, I thought the side clops
- 10:48Speaker 1: was CGI. Come to find out he's an animatronic big
- 10:51Speaker 1: ass puppet. Yeah, it just a big ass puppet, so
- 10:54Speaker 1: puppet with CGI added and stuff.
- 10:58Speaker 2: To kind of polish it out.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So I thought that was you know, I
- 11:02Speaker 1: thought all the effects look great. I think the film
- 11:05Speaker 1: looks incredible. Nolan, you know, does all that very well.
- 11:09Speaker 1: That's like goes without saying I don't think you have
- 11:11Speaker 1: to say that. You know, Nolan knows how to shoot films.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Some of the issues that I did have with it
- 11:17Speaker 1: before I get into like the stuff I really thought
- 11:19Speaker 1: was really ill about it was that it's the typical
- 11:24Speaker 1: with Nolan films. And this is also people pointed out
- 11:26Speaker 1: to Odyssey. It's very much to do with the women
- 11:29Speaker 1: like Anne Hathaway probably gets the most to do, and
- 11:33Speaker 1: even she comes off kind of as a damsel in
- 11:35Speaker 1: distress who's just trying to sit around.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Like, oh, what to do. I don't know what to do.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I don't know what you do, but.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You're supposed to the queen and all this, and then
- 11:42Speaker 1: at the end, you know, she pops up and starts like, oh,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you know, has her one little moment where she shuts.
- 11:46Speaker 2: The made out. Yeah, and it was like all right.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And then the egregious one for me was Charlie's staron
- 11:57Speaker 1: and her.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Character and she played Calypso.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Calypso, because it's just she's basically a plot device,
- 12:05Speaker 1: like she just sits there and it's like, tell me
- 12:08Speaker 1: your story, you know, for half of a movie, so
- 12:10Speaker 1: you can flash back, yeah, and then you know he's like,
- 12:13Speaker 1: oh shit, I remember my wife, I'm out, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 3: So those are some of the things that like in
- 12:19Speaker 3: the like I had comparisons to from not not just
- 12:22Speaker 3: the book, but from that ninety seven series. Like, yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 3: they actually didn't tell a lot of stories. The one
- 12:27Speaker 3: thing that they did tell was they did that stop
- 12:29Speaker 3: with the the Lestragonians. Is the name of those giants?
- 12:33Speaker 2: Giants?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that I don't I don't think they did that
- 12:36Speaker 3: in any of the series. And obviously it was in
- 12:38Speaker 3: the book, but like I don't remember it in detail.
- 12:42Speaker 2: But like that, I would have liked to see.
- 12:44Speaker 3: More of and and the stuff with Calypso. I feel
- 12:49Speaker 3: like in other tellings have has been explained more because
- 12:53Speaker 3: like what you're saying, you know, all of a sudden,
- 12:54Speaker 3: he's like, oh, time to go, you know.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and movies almost over, movies almost over.
- 12:59Speaker 3: And and she even says, she's like, you know, I've
- 13:03Speaker 3: had you here for all this time. You know, your
- 13:05Speaker 3: heart is and your mind and your heart is like
- 13:07Speaker 3: subconsciously building a raft like trying to leave. But yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 3: but like I feel like, I feel like they didn't
- 13:14Speaker 3: explain that.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Well.
- 13:15Speaker 3: One thing that I I that was missing from this
- 13:18Speaker 3: was the bag of winds. I don't know if you
- 13:20Speaker 3: remember that. I believe in the very early telling of
- 13:23Speaker 3: the story, when they leave Troy, they see Ithaca. They
- 13:27Speaker 3: go to an island, they get, you know, one of
- 13:29Speaker 3: the many islands, but they receive a bag of wind,
- 13:32Speaker 3: and the and the person that gives them the wind
- 13:35Speaker 3: is like, open this when you see Ithaca and blow
- 13:38Speaker 3: it into your sails. What happens is they blow themselves
- 13:42Speaker 3: off course, because that was the one thing Odysseus was
- 13:45Speaker 3: not supposed to tell anybody what was in the bag,
- 13:47Speaker 3: And so they.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Were like, what's in the bag, what's in the bag,
- 13:49Speaker 2: What's in the bag.
- 13:50Speaker 3: He's like, chill, chill, chill, and that's how in the
- 13:53Speaker 3: that's one of the stories that that was missing. So
- 13:55Speaker 3: I thought that was interesting because I think they replaced
- 13:57Speaker 3: it with Agamemnon going one way and Odysseus going we'll
- 14:03Speaker 3: take a shortcut or well, well we'll see, we'll see
- 14:06Speaker 3: the land, you.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Know, and okay, and that's going to get into where
- 14:10Speaker 1: I one thing that I really loved about this film, right,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and it took me a while sitting back and think
- 14:16Speaker 1: about it, because I think that's that was my one
- 14:18Speaker 1: criticism is that the film is definitely, you know, very
- 14:20Speaker 1: much a Nolan film where it's.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Men doing men things, you know, and.
- 14:24Speaker 1: There's just not much anything to do with the women.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And Calypso in particular really suffers from this. Like I thought,
- 14:32Speaker 1: Lupita's character, you know, she's barely in the film for
- 14:35Speaker 1: all the hate and you know flame that she caught. Yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 1: but I think she does great with the time that
- 14:41Speaker 1: she does have the same as with Anne Hathaway.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I think Charlie's theirn.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Looks, I mean just absolutely stunning, but you know, God,
- 14:49Speaker 1: they could have given her something to do because they
- 14:51Speaker 1: really don't. Are there any other women there's I mean Circe,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I'm not sure to act for Okay, so yeah, sirc
- 14:58Speaker 1: I gotta say.
- 14:59Speaker 3: She is the actress from The Walking Dead, one of
- 15:02Speaker 3: the one of the later seasons. She is one of
- 15:05Speaker 3: the Whisperers. She is the ship Ben. She's Alpha. She's
- 15:09Speaker 3: Alpha Ben. When I saw her on screen, I got
- 15:13Speaker 3: chills because I that impacted me so much in the series.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that bro. That impacted me.
- 15:23Speaker 3: So much that seeing her in any film now, I'm like,
- 15:27Speaker 3: you know, like I am.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Watched to win the Whisperers came, but I know from
- 15:32Speaker 1: the book and I know Alpha from the books.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Yeah, she is.
- 15:35Speaker 3: What brought me back to like the Walking Dead series
- 15:39Speaker 3: because like it fell off for a while, you know
- 15:40Speaker 3: what I mean. But like, oh my man, she killed
- 15:43Speaker 3: that that that role I could hear, like, oh man,
- 15:46Speaker 3: perfect casting there for her, for her with Circe and
- 15:50Speaker 3: the and the obviously the the the practical effects there
- 15:54Speaker 3: were with with the animals.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Changing, absolutely incredible. Oh yeah, Zendaya as Athena Zendas Athena.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yeah, she was.
- 16:03Speaker 3: She was actually in it probably. I feel like in
- 16:06Speaker 3: the other tellings, like she's pretty apparent, but like this one,
- 16:09Speaker 3: it's like you said it was like a man's you know,
- 16:11Speaker 3: man's world type of it's like, you.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Know, here's beautiful Asa and you know, guiding this white
- 16:18Speaker 1: man through his life.
- 16:19Speaker 2: And that just they did.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I did like how they did Athena though, that was
- 16:23Speaker 3: pretty true. Like Athena just you know, constantly being like Odysseus,
- 16:27Speaker 3: what the fuck are you doing?
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah doing?
- 16:30Speaker 3: And he's not listening because he's so focused on, you know,
- 16:34Speaker 3: what he thinks is the right thing, right. He just
- 16:36Speaker 3: wants to get home, and he wants to get as
- 16:38Speaker 3: many people home, which which also I'm never really sure
- 16:42Speaker 3: how many. Like I guess he had an army with him,
- 16:46Speaker 3: like from Ithaca, like he had like he must have had.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Like a hundred dudes because he was losing bodies. I
- 16:52Speaker 2: mean he lost two boats, you know, yeah, full of dudes.
- 16:55Speaker 1: So that's at least that's how fifty people each boat.
- 17:00Speaker 1: He probably had more of them, but yeah, yeah, more
- 17:04Speaker 1: than a hundred. That's but that's what gets into like
- 17:06Speaker 1: I say, because we got to you know, what we dislike,
- 17:09Speaker 1: what we like now what I really loved, and this
- 17:13Speaker 1: is something going back to that agamenmon moment, is I
- 17:17Speaker 1: don't think he wanted to go home.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and you know, and that's.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I think why the Bag of Wins isn't in this,
- 17:23Speaker 1: because it's more about that the fact that the like,
- 17:27Speaker 1: when I sat and thought about it, I'm like, okay, Odysseus,
- 17:30Speaker 1: And that's why I really liked because this is one
- 17:31Speaker 1: of those films is kind of like Infinity War where
- 17:35Speaker 1: it's we're following the protagonist who's not the hero of
- 17:39Speaker 1: the story, you know, like Fanos is the protagonist. Odysseus
- 17:44Speaker 1: is the protagonist, and he's heroic, but he's, like I
- 17:48Speaker 1: was saying to Luna before we started, he's like a
- 17:51Speaker 1: golden trash bag, you know, amongst a bunch of other
- 17:55Speaker 1: trash bags, because he does not want to follow Agaminmon
- 17:59Speaker 1: anymore because Agamnmon.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Just set off the slaughter that he was a part of.
- 18:04Speaker 1: That he violated Zeus's law to do and he knows that,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and he's like, yo, I just.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Did this ship. I saw, you know, the statue of
- 18:13Speaker 2: Athena fall.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I saw the priestess of Athena and get slaughtered along
- 18:17Speaker 1: with everyone else.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I've done nothing but dirt.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I can't follow this man and these dudes I'm with
- 18:23Speaker 1: are kind of you know, they trash. They're trash. Like
- 18:27Speaker 1: as much as I don't want to admit it, they're trash.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And I'm the golden trash bag because I'm the only
- 18:31Speaker 1: one who realizes with trash. But I'm still trash, you know. Yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 1: should I bring the trash home? Yeah you should.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I take a couple of laps around these islands and
- 18:40Speaker 3: see if they get murdered off you too, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 3: because we deserve it. Like yeah, okay, yeah, I can
- 18:49Speaker 3: I can see that angle.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I don't think he's exactly saying, you know, let's get
- 18:54Speaker 1: myself murdered in my grown murdered because he does want
- 18:57Speaker 1: to go home, but he's like I cannot follow and
- 19:00Speaker 1: anymore because Ed just went egg and I was part
- 19:02Speaker 1: of that, you know, So he's like, I cannot.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Deal with that anymore.
- 19:06Speaker 1: So he's like, yo, I need you know, it's like
- 19:08Speaker 1: one of them when I was incarcerated, I did not
- 19:11Speaker 1: want to go home, you know, immediately, because it's like, yo,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I need to wash that stink off of me, you
- 19:16Speaker 1: know what I mean, you can't just go home.
- 19:17Speaker 2: So it's like that's the same thing, like, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 2: you can't just.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Go home after being a war and especially having done
- 19:24Speaker 1: what I've done.
- 19:25Speaker 3: And being like a like a like a major factors,
- 19:29Speaker 3: at least the way it's told here, like a major factor.
- 19:33Speaker 3: And how many times did they say, like one of
- 19:35Speaker 3: the most brilliant men, one of the most you know, smart,
- 19:38Speaker 3: one of my smartest soldier, you know, the brains, Like.
- 19:41Speaker 1: He came up with the plan, he came up with
- 19:43Speaker 1: the Trojan horse and you know, slaughtered all these people. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 1: and then it's even like he comes up with the
- 19:51Speaker 1: Trojan horse. You know, he's this dude who's done all
- 19:53Speaker 1: this dirt the Zeus's law. And then the other part
- 19:57Speaker 1: of it was to see people. I thought that was
- 19:59Speaker 1: so ill Yeah, that was that was it was like
- 20:03Speaker 1: because and going back in the epic tales and everything.
- 20:06Speaker 1: If anyone's ever read the Watchmen comic book, there's in
- 20:10Speaker 1: the Watchmen comic book there this was not in the movie,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and it's barely referenced. I think they did an anime.
- 20:16Speaker 1: They did an animated version of it that goes along
- 20:19Speaker 1: with the movie. But in the coma book there's a
- 20:22Speaker 1: little boy who's sitting there reading a comic book throughout
- 20:26Speaker 1: Watchmen and the coma book he's reading. It is this
- 20:29Speaker 1: book called Tales of the Black Freighter, and it's a
- 20:31Speaker 1: horror comic book about this dude who goes out to
- 20:35Speaker 1: see with an army, goes on an adventure and is
- 20:39Speaker 1: just trying to get home and eventually does all kind
- 20:42Speaker 1: of horrible no, I mean, just horrible shit to get home.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And then when he gets home, it's been transformed into
- 20:50Speaker 1: the monster that everyone's fearing that he was trying to stop.
- 20:55Speaker 1: You know that he went out to stop in the
- 20:56Speaker 1: first place, right because you know it's what he's done.
- 21:00Speaker 1: And so I thought that was, you know, a very
- 21:03Speaker 1: dope way of how they did this in this movie
- 21:05Speaker 1: where it's like, yo, you know, like could you see
- 21:07Speaker 1: it from the first shot when they first land on
- 21:09Speaker 1: the island. I was im meaningly, Yo, these niggas is
- 21:11Speaker 1: burning these niggas homes up, Like what did they talk
- 21:14Speaker 1: about Zusan's law? They are immediately setting fire to everything
- 21:18Speaker 1: they see, and they're talking about Zeus's laws.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Us is law, you know, like what the fuck is
- 21:22Speaker 2: Zeus's law?
- 21:23Speaker 1: And then when I hear what Zeus's lawyer is, I'm like.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Where is it? Where is that.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Zus's Law in the room with us, and it's so funny.
- 21:35Speaker 3: They constantly they constantly elaborated, like everyone else was like,
- 21:40Speaker 3: but Zeus's Law says, I gotta feed you know, the
- 21:42Speaker 3: strangers says, I gotta wash the you know, their feet,
- 21:45Speaker 3: And then they flashed back to Troy. It's like fire,
- 21:49Speaker 3: you know stones and you know.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but even before Troy, I mean after Troy. Like
- 21:54Speaker 1: I say, when they first you know, when we first
- 21:56Speaker 1: see them, they come upon a random village and these
- 21:59Speaker 1: dudes are talk about to see people came through here
- 22:01Speaker 1: and they are burning their homes.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Why they're telling them this? And I'm like, you know,
- 22:06Speaker 2: are we the baddies?
- 22:07Speaker 1: You know, that's immediately my thought because I'm like, hold, look,
- 22:10Speaker 1: these dudes are I did not understand that part. Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: you know, I did not understand that, because like, these
- 22:15Speaker 1: dudes are burning these dudes home, but talking about give
- 22:18Speaker 1: us food and stuff, and then they go back to
- 22:21Speaker 1: their boats and move on. I'm like, Okay, I don't know.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Maybe those dudes for bad they need to burn their
- 22:25Speaker 1: homes up. But then, you know, as the story get progressive,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm no, these dudes just burn They're.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Just they're terrorists. Yeah, they're just trash.
- 22:33Speaker 1: And so I thought that was, you know, very dope
- 22:36Speaker 1: because I didn't really get that, you know, like until
- 22:39Speaker 1: I came home and sat and thought about, like, oh,
- 22:40Speaker 1: this movie is telling the story about, you know, a
- 22:42Speaker 1: bunch of trash ass men, and it's like the men
- 22:46Speaker 1: are trash throughout it, you know, like Robert Pattinson's character
- 22:51Speaker 1: is trash.
- 22:52Speaker 2: But look who he's you know, trying to replace. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:56Speaker 3: And I saw an interview with him and Anne Hathaway
- 22:59Speaker 3: and she was like, I hate hearing him talk about
- 23:01Speaker 3: his character. He's he starts to almost make sense because
- 23:05Speaker 3: Robert Pattson's like I'm the only one trying to help,
- 23:07Speaker 3: like like I'm the only one trying to you know,
- 23:09Speaker 3: restore order, like like you know, she didn't ask us
- 23:13Speaker 3: to leave, Like I'm just I'm trying to just I'm
- 23:15Speaker 3: the only one, you know, making making moves. And and
- 23:19Speaker 3: I was like, damn, you know, she's not wrong, Like
- 23:21Speaker 3: he's starting to make a little sense, you know. I mean,
- 23:25Speaker 3: it's not he was really good though, he was.
- 23:27Speaker 1: He was, yeah, excellent. Robert Pattinson killed it killed it was.
- 23:32Speaker 1: It was a line about the beggars.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Somebody, get these beggars out of here.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Take these beggars out of here. Let the beggars in.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he was a hlayer.
- 23:48Speaker 2: He was really good Antonius.
- 23:51Speaker 3: He's just like he's like a like a villainous comedy.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Like the whole time, you know what I mean. I
- 23:58Speaker 2: mean they're throwing the shields and the swords through the
- 24:00Speaker 2: whole was just yeah, yeah, this is like here in comedy.
- 24:03Speaker 2: It this wain night.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so no, yeah, I did really and that,
- 24:09Speaker 1: like I said, that's what I really did enjoy about
- 24:11Speaker 1: the film was that, you know, it's following this character
- 24:14Speaker 1: who is not exactly the hero, like he's.
- 24:16Speaker 2: The best of the worst, but he knows he's the
- 24:19Speaker 2: best of the worst.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And even in the end of it all, you know,
- 24:22Speaker 1: he had exiles himself because it's other he knows, like
- 24:25Speaker 1: not only that I came home and slaughtered the wedding guests,
- 24:28Speaker 1: Like for all the slaughter and trifling shit I've done,
- 24:33Speaker 1: I came home and slaughtered people who were basically gets.
- 24:36Speaker 3: In my home, right, right, yeah, no, you're you're right,
- 24:41Speaker 3: And but quickly did you get I mean Agamemnon, I
- 24:44Speaker 3: just said, this is like a side step really quick
- 24:46Speaker 3: because we were talking about him earlier. But like I
- 24:50Speaker 3: I loved him, like the way he looked and the
- 24:53Speaker 3: like the persona, the yeah that he had until I
- 24:56Speaker 3: don't know it just I felt I felt like they
- 24:59Speaker 3: might have overdone that shot that like Agamemnon, you know,
- 25:03Speaker 3: just mysterious, like like did you did you did you
- 25:07Speaker 3: get that or did you? Were you just like oh, yeah,
- 25:09Speaker 3: there he is every time.
- 25:11Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It wasn't all yeah, there he is every time, Like
- 25:14Speaker 1: people are you know, the whole all look at him
- 25:16Speaker 1: sending their om Yeah.
- 25:18Speaker 2: No, I didn't. I didn't get any of that.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I thought he was more just like, okay, here's this
- 25:23Speaker 1: bitch who ain't doing ship, you know.
- 25:25Speaker 2: And when the armor came off, I was like, he's
- 25:28Speaker 2: just like a little guy. He's a little guy. Yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And but I think that's the point of it, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 1: because I didn't get our farming. I'm like, oh, this
- 25:37Speaker 1: guy just stands back and let others do his dirty.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah it looks cool, you know why they do it?
- 25:42Speaker 1: So that's all I got from him. And then I
- 25:44Speaker 1: loved him getting served because it was like, you know,
- 25:48Speaker 1: just like you know all of that. You you come
- 25:50Speaker 1: through all this, you do all that dirt, and then
- 25:52Speaker 1: you get served because you think you're actually the hero
- 25:55Speaker 1: of this story and you're the villain, right, no, bro?
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, And and I mean we're jumping around from
- 26:01Speaker 3: scene to scene. But but that was another thing that
- 26:04Speaker 3: I kind of missed about this this telling of it,
- 26:07Speaker 3: because they really kept it like to Earth and and yeah,
- 26:13Speaker 3: Nolan's Odysseus literally just went from island to island, and
- 26:17Speaker 3: even even to go to to talk to the to
- 26:21Speaker 3: the dead, he had to go to another island and
- 26:24Speaker 3: in the and like in the story and in the
- 26:26Speaker 3: other others, it's like Odysseus actually like has to go
- 26:31Speaker 3: and like give the coins to the to the ferry
- 26:35Speaker 3: and cross the river of the Dead. And I feel like,
- 26:38Speaker 3: I feel like Nolan's story was it was really epic looking,
- 26:44Speaker 3: but I feel like it was missing a lot of
- 26:46Speaker 3: the fantastical, magical bits.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Of Yeah, and that's definitely been said because I know
- 26:54Speaker 1: in other retellings and even in the original, like the
- 26:57Speaker 1: gods are much more literal, like like Sidon is right there,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, And so we don't
- 27:03Speaker 1: get to see any of that.
- 27:04Speaker 2: This ain't flashing the Titans, right.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Yeah, That's why I liked Athena's parts a lot, because
- 27:10Speaker 3: like her just appearing was that like God goddess you know, ye,
- 27:15Speaker 3: that energy that she's always there, you know she can
- 27:19Speaker 3: be so yeah, so that was missing a little bit
- 27:21Speaker 3: for me.
- 27:22Speaker 1: But I also liked that though too, because it's like,
- 27:25Speaker 1: you know, when I love how it's like the moment
- 27:27Speaker 1: they pissed Posidon off, wam you know feel his wrath
- 27:33Speaker 1: of this ocean?
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, like it was like, you know, a
- 27:41Speaker 2: little you're about to fly off the ship.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Yeah, calm season. It's like, oh, we feel beside his son.
- 27:51Speaker 2: That was great.
- 27:52Speaker 1: You don't need to joke beside and show up. It's just,
- 27:54Speaker 1: you know, bro, did.
- 27:56Speaker 3: That sound design of the cyclops scare the ship out?
- 28:00Speaker 2: You? That?
- 28:01Speaker 3: The the the deep gurgling noise that was happening in
- 28:06Speaker 3: that cave and.
- 28:07Speaker 2: He was eating people was definitely.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Just was It was haunting, haunting, and if you can
- 28:16Speaker 3: make me feel so uncomfortable, I was like, I was like,
- 28:18Speaker 3: I can't wait to get out of this cave.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I was again though, like that's what I'm sorry.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Yeah, throughout this movie as I'm watching it, I'm like, yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: I'll just rolled up in this man's house and try
- 28:33Speaker 1: to start eating his cheese.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Like what do you like? They're like, we're going to
- 28:37Speaker 2: greet him.
- 28:38Speaker 1: You can greet him outside his crib. Bro, you don't
- 28:41Speaker 1: know whose house this is. That Like That's what I'm saying,
- 28:44Speaker 1: is I'm watching him like these.
- 28:48Speaker 3: The trash that let themselves in, started the fire, started
- 28:52Speaker 3: eating the cheese, wait for him to come back.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And then it's also as for the great tactical leader,
- 28:59Speaker 1: this man time of an idiot in that one. I
- 29:01Speaker 1: got to say that that was like one of the
- 29:03Speaker 1: dumbest scenes at least for him being, you know, the
- 29:06Speaker 1: great leader he is. How you're gonna roll into a
- 29:08Speaker 1: cave you don't know nothing, you don't even know scouts
- 29:11Speaker 1: outside nothing.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well he left it. I mean there were scouts,
- 29:15Speaker 2: but they were all the way by the boat.
- 29:17Speaker 3: And that was pretty much like every stop it was
- 29:20Speaker 3: everybody was too far.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody is too far.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Imagine being the guys at every like there's gotta be
- 29:26Speaker 3: one soldier that was always like I'll stay at the
- 29:28Speaker 3: boat and every island it is just fewer people running
- 29:32Speaker 3: back screaming.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I just want to go home.
- 29:37Speaker 1: That was also one of my favorite parts of the
- 29:39Speaker 1: movie is the fact that every time they landed on
- 29:41Speaker 1: an island, they ran off and screaming. I think it's
- 29:45Speaker 1: three out of the four first islands, because only they
- 29:48Speaker 1: don't run off of circes, because they just did whipped
- 29:50Speaker 1: and walk off that joint.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Yeah, And so that was another one where I was
- 29:55Speaker 3: trying to remember how in that scenario he he kind
- 29:59Speaker 3: of like was like a little bit of a detective work, right,
- 30:02Speaker 3: is that what happens because like in the in the
- 30:04Speaker 3: store in the original story, Hermes gives him a magical
- 30:08Speaker 3: herb to that that that stops him from being uh charmed.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I think that's how it does.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Remember, So that was like another thing like where I
- 30:18Speaker 3: was so apparent that they just weren't going to really
- 30:21Speaker 3: go hard on the magic and the mystery, and it
- 30:25Speaker 3: was like they made it more of like a human
- 30:28Speaker 3: thing to kind of go in and like notice things also.
- 30:32Speaker 3: But when they showed the shot of the and she
- 30:34Speaker 3: was like, you know, put your armor and your swords
- 30:36Speaker 3: in the back, and they showed the shot of like
- 30:38Speaker 3: all the dead, you know, all the skeletons with the armor,
- 30:42Speaker 3: was like, damn, you're that hungry, like they were just
- 30:45Speaker 3: shut back on and go yeah, like trash once again,
- 30:50Speaker 3: these guys are trash.
- 30:51Speaker 1: They're like, yeah, what's you know, and they're like it,
- 30:55Speaker 1: we'll just kill the shorty if anything, you know, we'll
- 30:58Speaker 1: kill her whatever.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Absolutely yeah yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And then no, no, and that was like, like I said,
- 31:05Speaker 1: I hadn't seen the other version where you said they
- 31:06Speaker 1: could have done it better, but you want to talk
- 31:08Speaker 1: about storming in your seat when you're watching this one.
- 31:11Speaker 2: No, these guys are the man.
- 31:15Speaker 3: The acting just so good. You're talking about when they're
- 31:19Speaker 3: eating the eating the ball.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Yeah, and when they started when she starts shifting their
- 31:23Speaker 1: faces in the bigs that horrific, Like horrific, Yeah, yeah, horrific.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Also quick shout out to Ludwig Gorn.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Andson Ll the composer.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, the man behind Black Panther, Child of Sambino,
- 31:38Speaker 1: all kind of great joints. I don't think I listened
- 31:41Speaker 1: to this soundtrack outside of the movie because it's a
- 31:44Speaker 1: lot of like very discordant and you know, all fury. Yeah,
- 31:48Speaker 1: but in the movie it worked fantastic.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Absolutely, yeah, oh yeah, I forgot he did it.
- 31:54Speaker 1: But yep, Love with Again also centers, you know. Yeah,
- 31:59Speaker 1: so I think that's about for me.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Right, Yeah. I had two things. One is that it
- 32:04Speaker 3: took me so it did take me a little bit
- 32:07Speaker 3: of time to get accustomed to and we spoke about
- 32:12Speaker 3: a little bit earlier. But like the modern language, like
- 32:15Speaker 3: like it took me a minute to get over that
- 32:18Speaker 3: there was there weren't really any accents. There weren't really
- 32:21Speaker 3: any you know. Matt Damon's like a white dude Odysseus,
- 32:24Speaker 3: you know, like these are you know, you know, and
- 32:29Speaker 3: and then I don't know, it's just like John Barenthal,
- 32:31Speaker 3: like he was he was a miss for me.
- 32:33Speaker 2: He was he was Agamemnon's brother.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Yeah, and I just maybe it's just something yeah, yeah,
- 32:40Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like he's he didn't change
- 32:42Speaker 3: he was he was.
- 32:44Speaker 2: He was let me.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Like like yeah, like out of all the actors, I
- 32:53Speaker 3: was like, yeah, I don't know, John, You're kind of not.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Doing it for me.
- 32:57Speaker 3: But he's still it's still worked, you know, it's still
- 32:59Speaker 3: works worked.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It worked.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I think John just doesn't do it for me right now,
- 33:03Speaker 1: just because of his you know, like just personally I'm
- 33:06Speaker 1: just saying.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true, that's true. That's probably also like.
- 33:10Speaker 2: He don't want to hear you.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, And seeing him close to Lupite was
- 33:15Speaker 1: even more disgusted.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean it worked though, because I was
- 33:18Speaker 2: disgusted by him. You were disgusted, right, Yeah, so it
- 33:21Speaker 2: did work well, you know. Yeah, I hated his character.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I was waiting for for Lupete to take a knife
- 33:26Speaker 1: in his chest, just like you did it brag, but yeah,
- 33:30Speaker 1: unfortunately not.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:31Speaker 3: So, and then the other thing that I have here
- 33:34Speaker 3: is we got another another one goes in the books
- 33:38Speaker 3: of the Matt Damon trying to get home genre Wow,
- 33:42Speaker 3: the one. He's trying to get home. He's trying to
- 33:44Speaker 3: get Martian. Martian, he's trying to get back to Heaven
- 33:46Speaker 3: and Dogma. He's he's trying to get back home an interstellar.
- 33:50Speaker 3: He tries, he like tries to, you know, take the ship.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's wild that he has two different space I'm
- 33:55Speaker 1: trying to get home.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's that's funny.
- 33:58Speaker 3: I didn't even realize that, but yeah, you're right the
- 33:59Speaker 3: marsh and I think he's trying to get home and
- 34:01Speaker 3: saving he's trying to get home and saving Private Ryan.
- 34:03Speaker 1: He definitely is trying to get home and saving Private
- 34:05Speaker 1: Ryan one. I was thinking good Will honey because that
- 34:08Speaker 1: was my first Matt Damon introduction. But no, no, he's no,
- 34:12Speaker 1: he's trying to get away from home good one and
- 34:15Speaker 1: Goodwill honey.
- 34:16Speaker 2: That's the other category, trying to leave. I'm sure he
- 34:20Speaker 2: has a few of those too, if we put it,
- 34:23Speaker 2: I just I just love it. Man, that's just such
- 34:25Speaker 2: a that's such a meme, now, you know what I mean?
- 34:27Speaker 2: What's he doing and it departed getting murdered?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, like he's I think he's staying put.
- 34:36Speaker 1: How do you say that, Latin Ben? I don't know,
- 34:41Speaker 1: but I think that's it for our I thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I think Luna thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Uh, definitely
- 34:53Speaker 1: go check it, you know, one of the best movies
- 34:56Speaker 1: of the summer. It's definitely like And that's other than
- 35:00Speaker 1: one last thing I will say about Nolan and everything.
- 35:02Speaker 2: People always make him.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Out this this all tour, and I love that Nolan
- 35:06Speaker 1: doesn't that. You know, he loves big dumb movies just
- 35:09Speaker 1: as much as he loves very intelligent movies. But I'd
- 35:13Speaker 1: also think that his movies are nowhere near as intelligent
- 35:16Speaker 1: people think they are.
- 35:17Speaker 2: You know, I think they're like they have to.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Look but yeah, yeah, strip wasn't. I think they're kind
- 35:24Speaker 1: of dumb. A lot of times are kind of basic,
- 35:26Speaker 1: Like even things like Tenant where people are like, oh
- 35:28Speaker 1: my god, I don't understand it when you watch it twice,
- 35:31Speaker 1: pretty straightforward, and yeah I did. I can't, like I
- 35:35Speaker 1: had to watch twice, but when I watched second, I'm like,
- 35:37Speaker 1: oh man, I'm straightforward. Yeah, it's you know, pretty simple
- 35:41Speaker 1: and the same thing like me Mento, you'll probably have
- 35:43Speaker 1: to watch twice. And if you watch twice, you're like, oh, okay,
- 35:45Speaker 1: I get it. You know, the same thing. But it's
- 35:48Speaker 1: just not that complex. And I don't think this one is.
- 35:51Speaker 1: This is right a though, you know, this is like
- 35:53Speaker 1: a very beautiful, dumb movie about some dudes trying to
- 35:56Speaker 1: get home.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and then my word on it is like, uh,
- 36:02Speaker 3: I'm really glad that that Tom Holland was exposed to
- 36:06Speaker 3: like a real film, because I don't know, if you've
- 36:09Speaker 3: been following him and his journey troubles, the MCU must
- 36:13Speaker 3: not be real film, like like like like for for
- 36:17Speaker 3: most actors, because he learned a lot and like you
- 36:20Speaker 3: were explaining about the camera.
- 36:22Speaker 2: And and how they had to they had.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Different ember he's young, so he's yeah, right, most actors don't,
- 36:29Speaker 1: especially if you're of a certain age. I have never
- 36:31Speaker 1: shot anything on film. It's just very rare nowadays. It's crazy,
- 36:35Speaker 1: but yeah, it's very rare. Like yeah, and you know
- 36:37Speaker 1: I've shot mess up on film and yeah, film, you know,
- 36:40Speaker 1: film runs out.
- 36:41Speaker 3: Yeah, It's just one of those things where it was
- 36:43Speaker 3: like that that mixed with all the like the information
- 36:47Speaker 3: we're getting about like how practical it was, the prospective
- 36:49Speaker 3: shots everything, It's like it keeps hope alive that like
- 36:52Speaker 3: we're still striving for like real good movies like like Blockbusters.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yep.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And that's why another reason why I do love Nolan
- 37:02Speaker 1: so much, because he was one of the people who
- 37:05Speaker 1: champion centers so heavy, because you know, he held private
- 37:09Speaker 1: screenings for people because he wanted him to vote for
- 37:13Speaker 1: it for the Oscars.
- 37:13Speaker 2: That's how much he was pushing it.
- 37:15Speaker 1: So yeah, so I really love Nolan because he will
- 37:19Speaker 1: champion movies to deserve it. He loves it all and
- 37:21Speaker 1: he'll put his name behind everything and so that's why
- 37:24Speaker 1: I really mess with him and anyone who bigs up Centers,
- 37:28Speaker 1: which is another one of those great films Like you
- 37:30Speaker 1: said that you know, put art and technical artistry on forefront. Yeah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I love to see it, and that's why I also
- 37:38Speaker 1: loved this.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and so just like these films, Sinners and Nolan's honesty,
- 37:42Speaker 3: like you can feel it, you can feel the love
- 37:45Speaker 3: for film from these actors and the crew that make it.
- 37:48Speaker 1: And I love that Nolan and both Nolan and Cooler
- 37:52Speaker 1: are putting that out there and they're like inspiring young filmmakers. Yes,
- 37:56Speaker 1: because that was me, you know, like I came up
- 37:58Speaker 1: on people like George Lucas where I absorbed everything he
- 38:02Speaker 1: talked about because I was just like, this is who
- 38:04Speaker 1: I want to be like, and I want to know
- 38:06Speaker 1: everything he knows about film. And so it's so dope
- 38:08Speaker 1: to see this because I watch all the little things
- 38:10Speaker 1: at Coogler and Nolan talk about now because it's the
- 38:13Speaker 1: same way even at this age, I still love learning
- 38:16Speaker 1: everything I can about film.
- 38:17Speaker 2: So yeah, very inspiring.
