- 0:00Speaker 1: Boutlet Cavs show special guests in here my guy one
- 0:02Speaker 1: of the greatest rappers alive. His name's Absol. Welcome sir,
- 0:06Speaker 1: Thanks for it's been a long time. I miss you, man,
- 0:09Speaker 1: miss you too. Man. I feel like I want to say, like,
- 0:13Speaker 1: the last time I interviewed you, interviewed you was on
- 0:16Speaker 1: the back of a bus in Tampa, Florida or Tempe, Arizona,
- 0:20Speaker 1: one of those two places, and it was on the
- 0:22Speaker 1: Smokers Club tour. Mmm. I don't know, man, it was
- 0:25Speaker 1: a long time ago. With Joey. Yeah, we've had a
- 0:28Speaker 1: couple of like tour bus interviews for sure. We were
- 0:32Speaker 1: just talking about that too. Getting back on the road. Yeah,
- 0:34Speaker 1: good times. Explain to me because you were kind of
- 0:37Speaker 1: breaking down off the mic a bit. I can't imagine
- 0:42Speaker 1: like the high you get after it's been a while
- 0:45Speaker 1: since you've been on the road, but just to create
- 0:48Speaker 1: and put so much, you know, blood, sweat and here's
- 0:50Speaker 1: into your art and then hitting that stage literally literally,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and then hitting the stage and just seeing the people
- 0:58Speaker 1: sing along, seeing the people react, seeing that people come
- 1:00Speaker 1: alive for you. What's that like, man, feeling the people
- 1:05Speaker 1: you know? I can't really but I see what you do.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm not right, right, yeah, yeah, I'm not and you
- 1:12Speaker 1: can hear and we got yeah, we gotta get this
- 1:14Speaker 1: very clear. I'm not I'm legally blind. I'm not blind.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yeah you're yeh yeah, legally yeah yeah. But like I
- 1:21Speaker 1: was saying, like it's excuse me. That's one of the
- 1:27Speaker 1: main reasons why, like we took a while to drop
- 1:31Speaker 1: the album, like I said, so excuse me anyway, you know,
- 1:42Speaker 1: we was gonna drop in twenty twenty, but you know,
- 1:44Speaker 1: the pandemic of course, and I wasn't just about to
- 1:47Speaker 1: drop an album just to stream, you know. I need
- 1:49Speaker 1: to go out and feel the effect, you know, feel
- 1:52Speaker 1: the people, touch the people, you know, shake hands, and
- 1:56Speaker 1: really feel the reception, you know what I'm saying. And
- 2:00Speaker 1: what Like, like I was saying, like it's performing for me.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You know, Recording is one thing, like you know, write,
- 2:06Speaker 1: writing is writing. Creating is one thing is one is
- 2:10Speaker 1: one craft. Recording is another craft. Performing is a whole
- 2:14Speaker 1: other craft. So like like I was telling you, it's
- 2:20Speaker 1: kinetic like the performance the performance aspect because like you know,
- 2:25Speaker 1: like I said, at least one time when I go
- 2:28Speaker 1: on tour, every time, it never feels I get dogs sick,
- 2:32Speaker 1: like I can't do it, and then Top calls like
- 2:35Speaker 1: you know, you're trying to get this money or what
- 2:38Speaker 1: you're gonna let the people down or what? Right? You know?
- 2:42Speaker 1: So you know, I suck it up, get on, get
- 2:45Speaker 1: on stage, and as soon as I get on, as
- 2:48Speaker 1: soon as I touch the stage, I am healed, no
- 2:52Speaker 1: matter what you're going through physically wherever, I am healed
- 2:56Speaker 1: completely because and I know it's it's a spiritual thing.
- 3:01Speaker 1: It's a it's a kinetic thing for getting the energy
- 3:04Speaker 1: from the people and reciprocating it obviously, And as soon
- 3:10Speaker 1: as I step off of the stage, I'm back sick
- 3:13Speaker 1: right away, right away to the bus to go to sleep. Right. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: So it's like, you know, you could call it a high,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but I think it's more, it's more spiritual, it's more
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's more personal. You know what I'm saying. Would you
- 3:29Speaker 1: consider yourself to be a because I think there's a
- 3:31Speaker 1: difference between being a religious person and a spiritual person. Yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 1: what a side of the pendulum do you swing on?
- 3:36Speaker 1: If any? I mean, there's a you know, it's there's
- 3:41Speaker 1: a there's a balance between the two because you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I obviously, you know, grew up in the Christian Church.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I am the black lived pastor, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:51Speaker 1: But you know, I do you know, I ask questions.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I do, you know, study theology and I'm into it
- 4:02Speaker 1: all and you know, all of the messages are you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: relative an essence? You know what I'm saying. So, you know,
- 4:13Speaker 1: to answer your question, I'm just kind of in between,
- 4:15Speaker 1: somewhere in between the two. Somewhere in between the two.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I mean, you know, I you know, I I
- 4:21Speaker 1: tell you I'm a Christian, right who asked questions. What
- 4:25Speaker 1: do you mean that's you're a Christian who also asked questions? Yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 1: a Christian who asked questions. Yeah, that's fair there. Yeah.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I feel like I was kind of like more atheists
- 4:36Speaker 1: for a long time, but once I started doing a
- 4:38Speaker 1: lot of like heavy like psychedelics, it's just I'm just
- 4:41Speaker 1: more like I don't know now, you know. Yeah, that's
- 4:44Speaker 1: and that's what the wisest man knows. He knows nothing,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And so it's like, and
- 4:50Speaker 1: it's crazy how atheists is such a that word is
- 4:54Speaker 1: just so strong, right, atheist, that's such a strong it's
- 4:58Speaker 1: a harsh word. If you just say say, yeah, that's crazy,
- 5:01Speaker 1: people look at you like you say, I'm a Satanist.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You might as well tell certain people there. Yeah, exactly right.
- 5:07Speaker 1: But yeah, but you know, like I said, man, do
- 5:10Speaker 1: what thou wilt? You know, Yeah, I definitely believe in aliens.
- 5:14Speaker 1: So I mean, I don't even want to go here. Thing,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I ain't got enough time. Nobody if aliens are real? Right,
- 5:22Speaker 1: So if they're real? If if if they so we're
- 5:26Speaker 1: doing that, I think they are. Okay, so do you
- 5:28Speaker 1: think they are? I'm not saying if are you saying
- 5:31Speaker 1: that they are? I've seen some ship man. But if
- 5:36Speaker 1: if we find out aliens are a thing, right, doesn't
- 5:40Speaker 1: that poke holes through a lot of the religions of
- 5:43Speaker 1: the world Or No? No, no, because if because when
- 5:48Speaker 1: you do the research, they're they're there, they're there, you know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: the serpent, the serpent that was the uh you know,
- 5:58Speaker 1: that was the like they were there whole time. We
- 6:00Speaker 1: just didn't look at it through the proper lens. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 1: it's just because they're very they're very poetic, you know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: just and that's just the you know, the whole you know,
- 6:08Speaker 1: the Christian Bible. They're all there. There, there's you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: if you if you choose to, if you choose to
- 6:15Speaker 1: look at it, you choose to dig in. Yeah, they're
- 6:17Speaker 1: They're always there. There's always beings, you know what I'm saying,
- 6:22Speaker 1: like unexplainable beings that you know, this, this, and that
- 6:26Speaker 1: you know neph alone just all kind of Have you
- 6:29Speaker 1: ever witnessed the UFO? Yeah, and I give you this.
- 6:38Speaker 1: UFO means what unidentified flying object? If you, if you
- 6:43Speaker 1: could be a Southwest if you, if you, if you
- 6:46Speaker 1: saw it, why isn't it? Why is it unidentified? Mm hmm. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: I'm just on that, you know. You know what I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know what I'm kid, I'm trying to play like
- 6:58Speaker 1: I've seen I've had a couple of UFO. Yeah, I mean, listen,
- 7:02Speaker 1: it's crazy. Listen Strawberry Fields, shut up to the Beatles.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Nothing is Real. That is a great song to eat
- 7:11Speaker 1: rooms on and listen to. Man, have you ever have
- 7:13Speaker 1: you ever ate trooms all listening to that song? Man,
- 7:16Speaker 1: it's a fucking great song. I've been I've broke through
- 7:22Speaker 1: to the other side, putting many many times while listening
- 7:25Speaker 1: to the Beatles. Well, I mean that was a Pink
- 7:27Speaker 1: Floyd reference obviously, but yes to the Beatles. Also, you
- 7:31Speaker 1: know who's the best in my opinion if you're fucking
- 7:34Speaker 1: Shrewman Hard Tame and Paula. Bro, Wow, that's not You're
- 7:42Speaker 1: absolutely right, and that's more like that's more like the
- 7:47Speaker 1: d that's just like, you know, they got a song
- 7:49Speaker 1: called let It Happen. Yeah, yeah, oh my god, yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I love hours A time I was, I was at
- 7:56Speaker 1: a Joshua Tree of my wife and everybody does it
- 7:59Speaker 1: loves to go to well fucking you know, I guess
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's the la hips. The tree is the is, the
- 8:04Speaker 1: is the psychedelic. It's like the psychedelic Walmart. It's like
- 8:08Speaker 1: the commercial like we have to, we have to go
- 8:11Speaker 1: to Joshua Tree. We have to. You know. That's so
- 8:14Speaker 1: ill write that song on for two hours straight though,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I was like, this is the greatest song I've ever
- 8:18Speaker 1: heard in my life. I can attest to that great
- 8:22Speaker 1: fucking record man, right shot and Polo how that mean? Man?
- 8:25Speaker 1: If you ever see this man, I never even knew
- 8:27Speaker 1: that Tame and Paula was one dude until like six
- 8:29Speaker 1: months ago. I always thought it was a band. It
- 8:33Speaker 1: sounds like a band, right, yeah, Yo, Tam and Paula
- 8:36Speaker 1: is headline of Coachella. And then I'm like, oh, it's
- 8:39Speaker 1: just the dude. He's like, you know, like a really
- 8:42Speaker 1: just talented alien level musician. I guess right, It's like
- 8:46Speaker 1: that's fucking kind of crazy, right, very talented guy. Yo.

- 10:00Speaker 1: this new album, man, because it feels like probably, I mean,
- 10:05Speaker 1: it feels like one of the most personal bodies of work.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna start off by saying, that was such an
- 10:09Speaker 1: excellent segue from you know, the Extra Terrestrial to my
- 10:14Speaker 1: my most personal album. Yeah, I'm so honored to her.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Thank you, of course. Man. This album is I mean, look, man,
- 10:23Speaker 1: it was highly anticipated. I feel like, as somebody who's
- 10:30Speaker 1: been a fan of you for the last ten plus years,
- 10:33Speaker 1: to me, this felt like your strongest body of work
- 10:36Speaker 1: and that's saying a lot because you've had so many
- 10:38Speaker 1: of those correct and you know, you know I also,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I also have a bone to pick with you because
- 10:45Speaker 1: I did not make your listen. But in your defense,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I know what you're going to say. You know what
- 10:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna say. It's a little too late. It's like, no,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I hadn't fully like, it wasn't enough time, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I put the list together, right, Yeah, and then your
- 11:00Speaker 1: album dropped on the twenty first, right sixteenth sixteenth. Okay, Okay,
- 11:05Speaker 1: so I did not fully like Live with your album.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I listened to it on the plane once exactly, but
- 11:12Speaker 1: I didn't get to like Live No right exactly, So
- 11:15Speaker 1: I I kind of disqualified anything from the last release
- 11:20Speaker 1: from from December. No, Yeah, I get that. That's yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: That's why I said, I'm just just fucking around with you.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But you know that means a lot coming from you
- 11:28Speaker 1: though that you know what I'm saying. I'll tell you this.
- 11:30Speaker 1: When I do next year's list, I'm going to just
- 11:32Speaker 1: include the end of December as well, and you'll be
- 11:34Speaker 1: on there. Unless you know, some some some crazy might happen.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You never know. I doubt it, but you know, that,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know, like I said, I appreciate that it was,
- 11:45Speaker 1: but that's my explanation for sure. It's truthful and I
- 11:48Speaker 1: believe it. Yeah, I believe it. And excellent list too,
- 11:53Speaker 1: by the way, thanks man, excellent list. Yeah. Man, it's
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's really not it's just man like I went in.
- 12:02Speaker 1: You know, my last album was very heavy on the ears.
- 12:07Speaker 1: It was very dark, if you will, you know, I
- 12:10Speaker 1: just went I felt like I was, you know, just
- 12:13Speaker 1: going a little too left, a little you know, too
- 12:16Speaker 1: much Joshua Tree. I didn't wrong with that, you know
- 12:19Speaker 1: what I'm saying. But you know I took I took
- 12:22Speaker 1: like a year and a year and some change off
- 12:24Speaker 1: to you know, just you know, get back center. And
- 12:29Speaker 1: you know, I just kind of wanted to, you know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: go in, you know, and challenge myself. What I usually
- 12:33Speaker 1: do when I when I create, you know, I have
- 12:37Speaker 1: a concept. I go in with a concept because you know,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm I'm old school. I'm all about more people did that. Yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 1: I'm all about bodies of work. I grew up reading
- 12:45Speaker 1: Source magazine. I want five mics of course, so that's
- 12:48Speaker 1: my whole thing. Yeah, but what I did this time
- 12:51Speaker 1: was I just literally just I just went in and
- 12:54Speaker 1: worked and and and just let it and let it happen.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I see where you're just tied everything together. Look at that.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I can't stop so and and the you know, the
- 13:06Speaker 1: concept is kind of created. It's created itself. You know,
- 13:11Speaker 1: it just kind of if it was so personal, I was,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you know, it was very open, it was very vulnerable,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you know, I'd like I didn't really I tried not
- 13:22Speaker 1: to listen to too much music, like on my own.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You know, you can't you can't stop the music though,
- 13:28Speaker 1: you know I can't, you know exactly. That was That
- 13:33Speaker 1: was my whole thing. So I wanted it to sound
- 13:36Speaker 1: like me. I really, really really you know, leaned on
- 13:44Speaker 1: my producers this time, and I didn't. I didn't more
- 13:48Speaker 1: so pig beats, you know, I you know, I'd let
- 13:51Speaker 1: them challenge me. Like, you know, one of the I
- 13:54Speaker 1: think it's like track three or four. I tweeted this, uh,
- 13:57Speaker 1: this beat switch up. It is fucking crazy. I forget that. Yeah,
- 14:03Speaker 1: we were just talking about that beat switch up. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 1: we had to because we had dropped. We had dropped
- 14:09Speaker 1: that was like the appetizer. We had dropped the first
- 14:13Speaker 1: version and so like you know, I wanted to do
- 14:15Speaker 1: something you know, special for the album, like just you
- 14:18Speaker 1: punch rapping exactly, you know what I'm saying. So you know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: it was a lot of it was it was a
- 14:24Speaker 1: roller coaster, but like like I said, it means a
- 14:28Speaker 1: lot that you uh, you know, you enjoyed it. Yeah, man,
- 14:32Speaker 1: I mean I think like being vulnerable is probably one
- 14:36Speaker 1: of the greatest qualities like the greats can have, you know.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I think you know, if you even if you think
- 14:42Speaker 1: of someone like, oh, we don't look at it's like
- 14:44Speaker 1: the most vulnerable guy. He's had some pretty vulnerable moments
- 14:47Speaker 1: that we don't really you know, think about. But is
- 14:50Speaker 1: it hard? Was it because you got really personal on
- 14:52Speaker 1: this album? Was there ever like a point in time
- 14:55Speaker 1: where you're like, man, maybe you recorded some ship and
- 14:57Speaker 1: you question whether or not you like like it come
- 15:00Speaker 1: out or you know, because when you share your life
- 15:03Speaker 1: like that, Yeah, there's consequences, whether it's your family or
- 15:07Speaker 1: the greater circle. You know, just said that you don't
- 15:10Speaker 1: necessarily want because I'm sure when you record it's therapy
- 15:14Speaker 1: and then what comes out is something totally different, right, right, Yeah, right,
- 15:18Speaker 1: I mean there's there, there are those moments, but you
- 15:21Speaker 1: know you gotta you know this name for the faint
- 15:24Speaker 1: of heart. You know, you gotta have courage, you gotta
- 15:26Speaker 1: be brave, you got you know, you gotta understand that.
- 15:31Speaker 1: You know, I understand that. You know, my my testimony
- 15:35Speaker 1: can can can help. You know, we all just we
- 15:40Speaker 1: all just really want to know that we're not alone.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Everybody's going through it, everybody's going through something, and you know,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I just you know, when I'm when I have those
- 15:53Speaker 1: moments where I feel like spent much. Man, my mom
- 15:58Speaker 1: might not need to hear this, you know, I just
- 16:03Speaker 1: remember that, you know it's just for you might help
- 16:07Speaker 1: a fan, I might help somebody else out you know
- 16:09Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And you know it's got to be
- 16:11Speaker 1: like an interesting burden to carry, like cause you kind
- 16:14Speaker 1: of have throughout your career talk to fans personally have
- 16:17Speaker 1: probably been like, yo, you help save my life or
- 16:19Speaker 1: yo literally and so when you literally when you're getting
- 16:22Speaker 1: ready to release music, you kind of know like, damn
- 16:25Speaker 1: this this can affect someone's path, right, Like I think
- 16:29Speaker 1: artists take that lightly sometimes yeah, for the good or
- 16:31Speaker 1: for the bad? Right, And I don't like I said,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like I always say, you know, like when people, when
- 16:36Speaker 1: I meet people, when they say, you know, man, you
- 16:38Speaker 1: don't even understand man, like you saved my life, and
- 16:42Speaker 1: I I'm I'm very serious, adamant about saying, no, you
- 16:48Speaker 1: saved mine, you know, by giving me a voice, by
- 16:53Speaker 1: by listening. Like so we go hand in hand. You
- 16:58Speaker 1: get what I'm saying, Yeah, one the other. It's a
- 17:01Speaker 1: very so you know, it's the reciprocity is very important
- 17:04Speaker 1: to me, you know, and I'm grateful. I appreciate it all.
- 17:09Speaker 1: What I thought was dope was when you jumped on
- 17:12Speaker 1: Russ's Chomp project. Was it Chomp to you on Chump? Yeah?
- 17:15Speaker 1: Was it the second one? Chump one or two? Which
- 17:17Speaker 1: one was it? Was it twenty twenty one or twenty
- 17:19Speaker 1: twenty anyway, Well you were on one of the chumps. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: And I know Russ has always been like a huge
- 17:27Speaker 1: fan of yours. Any time I've ever talked to him,
- 17:29Speaker 1: he's always brought you up as like, you know, it's
- 17:31Speaker 1: my brother, the young legend man. Yeah, and like it's
- 17:33Speaker 1: funny because like he had shared some old dms or
- 17:36Speaker 1: he was hitting you up yeah, like twenty eleven. Yeah,
- 17:39Speaker 1: like he used to like harass me on Twitter Yeah,
- 17:42Speaker 1: that was so cool. And now you jumped on his
- 17:44Speaker 1: ship and then now he's on your ship. Like ye
- 17:46Speaker 1: talk about your relationship with a guy like Russ, who
- 17:49Speaker 1: I think is given a lot of free game to
- 17:51Speaker 1: a lot of artists out there. Yeah, he doesn't. He
- 17:53Speaker 1: doesn't keep the game behind the lock locked doors, right right.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I think some people might take his messaging the wrong way.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I think he's a great guy. You know, I know,
- 18:01Speaker 1: I know, I know he means well, I mean, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: he that's what he just he's just he's just a
- 18:08Speaker 1: free spirit for at heart, and he just he just
- 18:11Speaker 1: means well, I mean he's he's he's just trying to
- 18:13Speaker 1: be of service. But I just I think he's just
- 18:20Speaker 1: like the definition of dedication. He's the definition of dedication
- 18:27Speaker 1: and consistency. And you know, he's he's really you know,
- 18:32Speaker 1: he's very he's very skilled. He's very intuitive, you know
- 18:37Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, you know, and he could rap
- 18:41Speaker 1: his ass off. No, that's what I'm saying. Like he's
- 18:43Speaker 1: he's he's really skilled. So you know, and that's like
- 18:46Speaker 1: I said, man, that's that's it's the young legend and
- 18:51Speaker 1: like as somebody like you grew up when he read.
- 18:53Speaker 1: When he reached out to me, I had like I
- 18:56Speaker 1: had kept hearing his name and I had and I
- 19:00Speaker 1: had heard his records, but I didn't you know, put
- 19:03Speaker 1: a face to it or you know, but you know, Uh.
- 19:06Speaker 1: He reached out to Punch, and Punch sent me the
- 19:09Speaker 1: record and then I was like, oh, oh this is cool,
- 19:12Speaker 1: Like would you like, should I do it? He was like,
- 19:15Speaker 1: oh yeah, I love his hustle. So I'm like, all right, yeah, cool.
- 19:19Speaker 1: So he gave me his number and then I reached
- 19:21Speaker 1: out to him and then we had to talk and
- 19:22Speaker 1: then he sent me like the old tweets. Yo, this
- 19:25Speaker 1: is crazy. So then I did my research. I'm like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: oh this is this guy. Oh wow, yeah, oh for sure.
- 19:32Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, shout out to I should say,
- 19:35Speaker 1: like coming from your roots, right, yeah, you used to
- 19:37Speaker 1: work at a record store. Yes, grew up in a
- 19:40Speaker 1: record store, had a crib in the record store, reading
- 19:43Speaker 1: Source magazine as a kid, caring about bodies of work.
- 19:47Speaker 1: You're a fan first, right, You could tell that about
- 19:49Speaker 1: how you wrap some of the people you work with.
- 19:52Speaker 1: How much of like keeping your ear to the new
- 19:58Speaker 1: wave of what's going on on or discovering new artists
- 20:01Speaker 1: are you still doing because it's tough, right, It's tough
- 20:06Speaker 1: because it's a lot. But you know, I I just
- 20:11Speaker 1: kind of look at it as you know, if it
- 20:13Speaker 1: hits my desk, you know, yeah, that's when it hits
- 20:18Speaker 1: when it if it wants it hits my desk. You know,
- 20:22Speaker 1: it's something to consider, you know, And I just you know,
- 20:24Speaker 1: have mine. But but but like I said, I'm like,
- 20:27Speaker 1: I'm losing my I'm losing my opinion. I found myself
- 20:30Speaker 1: becoming a critic. And I just think as a as
- 20:33Speaker 1: an artist, as an artist, I don't think that's healthy
- 20:40Speaker 1: because you know, me being someone who can you know,
- 20:44Speaker 1: honestly say I've I've influenced a lot of great new artists,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know, like Russ who would tell me that I'm
- 20:53Speaker 1: you know I've influenced him. I can't. It's it's a
- 21:01Speaker 1: different I just found myself becoming a critic like who
- 21:04Speaker 1: you know, like called like oh that's wag you know
- 21:06Speaker 1: this and that. But it's like artists art, and it's
- 21:13Speaker 1: it's open for interpretation, is it's objective, it's it's it's
- 21:18Speaker 1: not for everybody, it's for who it's for. And I
- 21:22Speaker 1: mean these are just these are kids, these are these
- 21:25Speaker 1: are these are people, you know, just trying to make
- 21:29Speaker 1: something of themselves, man, just trying to trying to be successful,
- 21:33Speaker 1: trying to leave their mark on the world. So I'm
- 21:38Speaker 1: I'm practicing just you know, just being a listener versus Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I can't just and as an artist though, you know
- 21:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Now, See, you know, somebody like yourself,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you know, you kind of have that platform to you know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: hold those those discussions, right, which is warranted. Right, We
- 21:59Speaker 1: have to have that because it is you know, it's
- 22:02Speaker 1: competitive at the end of the day. It's it is
- 22:04Speaker 1: a sport, you know. Yeah, and it's the number one
- 22:06Speaker 1: genre music in the world, so exactly, so we're going
- 22:09Speaker 1: to have opinions. People are gonna, right, but I've just
- 22:11Speaker 1: founded as myself as an artist that could hinder my
- 22:17Speaker 1: my you know, I'm worried so much about how this
- 22:20Speaker 1: isn't good for the culture that I'm not focusing enough
- 22:25Speaker 1: on your shit, exactly. That's fair. Yeah, and then you
- 22:29Speaker 1: get bitter, and you know, you just I think it's
- 22:32Speaker 1: funny how like throughout our whole life, there's always been
- 22:36Speaker 1: like some version of like the real rap versus the
- 22:41Speaker 1: commercial ship. Yeah, and it just keeps like reinventing itself,
- 22:45Speaker 1: like error by era where it's like, you know, twenty
- 22:48Speaker 1: seventeen it was it's that SoundCloud mumble shit you know
- 22:51Speaker 1: what I say? Yeah, right, and it's like I just
- 22:53Speaker 1: feel like there's always this like conversation about like, oh,
- 22:58Speaker 1: that's that's that there's always a genre of a subgenre
- 23:02Speaker 1: of hip hop that's like easy to kind of write
- 23:04Speaker 1: off as like ey But at the end of the day,
- 23:07Speaker 1: if you can kind of understand, there's certain places for everything,
- 23:12Speaker 1: Like if I'm in the club, I love hearing all
- 23:14Speaker 1: this shit. You know what I'm saying exactly. There's a
- 23:17Speaker 1: time and a place for if I'm on a road trip, right,
- 23:20Speaker 1: you know, I mean I would love to listen to
- 23:23Speaker 1: Herbert exactly, so you know what I'm saying, Like, and
- 23:26Speaker 1: then you look at you know, like just twenty seventeen
- 23:28Speaker 1: mumble rap on SoundCloud. These guys getting millions of views.
- 23:32Speaker 1: They're getting millions of views for a reason. There that
- 23:37Speaker 1: era that I mean that was just as examp. No,
- 23:39Speaker 1: you're right, you're right. They were getting a lot of
- 23:40Speaker 1: views based on everything but the music though. That to
- 23:43Speaker 1: me that that was like peak Instagram antiqu Oh okay,
- 23:46Speaker 1: well see that opens up a whole nother. There was
- 23:49Speaker 1: like Instagram influencers getting record deals in twenty sevens, right,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know that's a whole you know, like, but you
- 23:55Speaker 1: know we got through that. We did get through that.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I feel like we kind of got through outside of
- 24:00Speaker 1: the NFT rapper that just that was signed to Capitol
- 24:02Speaker 1: Records for two weeks. You saw that guy? Yeah, the
- 24:05Speaker 1: robot right, Jesus Christ that she was crazy. I'm like, bro, like,
- 24:12Speaker 1: what is it? I'm glad that I was literally scared. Hey,
- 24:15Speaker 1: what up's bootleg? keV here to stop the interview and
- 24:17Speaker 1: tell you about blue Choo. Yes, do you have a dick?
- 24:21Speaker 1: Does your husband have a dick? Maybe? Does your boyfriend
- 24:25Speaker 1: got a dick? Does your wife have a dick? Who knows?
- 24:29Speaker 1: It could be harder? I'll tell you that. Yeah, blue
- 24:32Speaker 1: Choo will get your dick real hard to kick off
- 24:33Speaker 1: that new year. You know what I'm saying. If you
- 24:36Speaker 1: want your dick harder than advanced trigonometry senior year high school,
- 24:42Speaker 1: then go to blue choo dot com right now, use
- 24:45Speaker 1: the promo code Bootleg and get one month's supply for free.

- 25:10Speaker 1: to go to a doctor's appointment in person with anybody.
- 25:13Speaker 1: You don't have to worry about embarrassing conversations with strangers
- 25:17Speaker 1: about your fucking dick. Bro, nobody wants to talk about
- 25:20Speaker 1: their dick with a stranger. I take that back. I
- 25:24Speaker 1: take that back. Lots of people like to talk about
- 25:27Speaker 1: their dicks with strangers. If you're not that kind of
- 25:31Speaker 1: guy or girl or them, all you gotta do is
- 25:36Speaker 1: go to Blue Cheo right now and use the promo

- 25:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be flaccid after a nice, long, stressful night. No,
- 25:58Speaker 1: your dick should be ready. You don't want to be
- 26:00Speaker 1: a you know, a victim of too much stress, too
- 26:04Speaker 1: much anxiety, and then you look down and you can't
- 26:06Speaker 1: stay hard. You imagine how fucking embarrassing that is. You
- 26:09Speaker 1: get yourself a nice, lovely, fucking young lady, you bring
- 26:12Speaker 1: it to the place you're nervous. She's a little maybe
- 26:15Speaker 1: she's a little out of your fucking league, and you
- 26:17Speaker 1: start thinking too much and that dick's not gonna perform.
- 26:21Speaker 1: It's not it's not gonna perform how you'd like it too,
- 26:24Speaker 1: But you know how it will perform. If you're on
- 26:26Speaker 1: that fucking blue choo, you're gonna put in a fucking
- 26:29Speaker 1: luka donkic sixty one point fucking performance on that pussy.
- 26:33Speaker 1: All right, So go to blue cheo dot com right now,
- 26:36Speaker 1: use that promo code Bootleg. Let's get back to the interview.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I got to ask quick though, I was scared. Have
- 26:42Speaker 1: you seen this new Uh, there's like this new program
- 26:45Speaker 1: that it like, well, it's like AI generated. Have you
- 26:49Speaker 1: seen it where you could like tell it to write
- 26:51Speaker 1: you an essay or a song or whatever and it'll
- 26:54Speaker 1: write it within seconds, So you could be like write
- 26:57Speaker 1: a song about day on the bus and then it'll
- 27:02Speaker 1: just right like a or I know, I know they
- 27:05Speaker 1: have an AI for every for everything though, but I
- 27:08Speaker 1: mean that's just fucking sketch. That's that's not that's see.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Let's check this out. Man. Huh, you're not what a's
- 27:21Speaker 1: time to be alive. Would you buy a Tesla robot
- 27:23Speaker 1: for your house to like help you around, like you know,
- 27:25Speaker 1: like maybe like a butler. I would not not a
- 27:28Speaker 1: Tesla one. No, No, I would not. I like I
- 27:31Speaker 1: like when I go when I go to stores, I
- 27:34Speaker 1: like to I like to I don't like to self
- 27:37Speaker 1: check out. I like to deal with people when I
- 27:39Speaker 1: when I talk on the phone, I asked for the operator,
- 27:42Speaker 1: I hit zero over and over representative, representative, customer, servicestmers operator.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I don't I like to deal with people. That's just
- 27:50Speaker 1: me and listen. No, for sure, that's the most frustrated
- 27:53Speaker 1: ship is when you call somebody, talk to a human
- 27:56Speaker 1: being about something. Yeah, you could use our self automated system. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: like I mean, and guess what you know, that's the future.
- 28:04Speaker 1: That's technology we can't can't hide from me, can't run
- 28:09Speaker 1: from it. But you know that's just me. Yeah, it's
- 28:12Speaker 1: fucking to me some of the ship they're talking about. Well,
- 28:16Speaker 1: how is it We've made all these movies that are
- 28:19Speaker 1: a warning of what happens if we go down this
- 28:21Speaker 1: path too much? Didn't nobody watch these fucking movies and
- 28:24Speaker 1: we're still turning this ship up? Like what is happening?
- 28:27Speaker 1: Like nobody saw a fucking Terminator or eye robot? Like
- 28:30Speaker 1: the fuck is going on with these people? You're not
- 28:33Speaker 1: getting the neuralink chip? No, yeah, you think Elon could
- 28:38Speaker 1: be alien? They say, like Terminator was. I think Terminator
- 28:40Speaker 1: was the prequel of the Matrix. I think ship. I
- 28:44Speaker 1: didn't hear that. Looking at that now and watch all
- 28:48Speaker 1: of them in mind, go ahead, Yeah, I think if
- 28:54Speaker 1: we're talking about aliens, if anybody is kind of an alien,
- 28:57Speaker 1: it's probably Elon Musk. Oh yeah, yeah he's an interesting cat.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Elon, if you're watching this, man, yeah, just
- 29:05Speaker 1: I just I just need one B. Just give me
- 29:08Speaker 1: one man, I just please, I rap really well. Check
- 29:12Speaker 1: out my album. Wait what did you say you need
- 29:14Speaker 1: one B? What is that? A billion? Oh? A billion? Okay,
- 29:18Speaker 1: just just throw me one man. You got you got plenty,
- 29:21Speaker 1: just run, he said. He said a lot on Twitter.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Check out my new album, man, Herbert. It's out now. Man.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It's very personal, you know what I'm saying. I put
- 29:31Speaker 1: everything I had into it. I just need one billion, man.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Just look out for your boy. Man. Yo, when you
- 29:36Speaker 1: look back at like early TD days, I think back to,
- 29:41Speaker 1: like I think the first time I probably met you
- 29:45Speaker 1: was it was probably like twenty ten. I was living
- 29:49Speaker 1: in Vegas and Kendrick had a show at a place
- 29:54Speaker 1: called the Forbes Lounge and you opened two dope boys
- 29:58Speaker 1: was there doing the expos on you guys. Shot to
- 30:00Speaker 1: my guy shaking those guys Mecca. But uh, it's just
- 30:07Speaker 1: it's just crazy to see and I remember you guys
- 30:10Speaker 1: were the first guys who, like, during the mixtape era,
- 30:12Speaker 1: was making me buy shit on iTunes. It was frustrating
- 30:14Speaker 1: as fuck, man, So like everybody's fucking apps. I was
- 30:18Speaker 1: calling it the mixtape and I gotta fucking go on
- 30:19Speaker 1: iTunes and spent twelve dollars on this fucking thing. Very
- 30:22Speaker 1: smart obviously, but just like to see like what this
- 30:27Speaker 1: whole thing has become. Sometimes we like don't realize that
- 30:33Speaker 1: we're in it, and we don't sit back and appreciate
- 30:36Speaker 1: where we came from. I'm like that exactly because it's
- 30:39Speaker 1: like I don't like, I remember if I as a kid,
- 30:42Speaker 1: if I if I could just make thirty grand a
- 30:44Speaker 1: year doing radio, you'd have told me I made it.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I'd have been happy the rest of my life. So
- 30:48Speaker 1: I don't ever like go back too much and think
- 30:50Speaker 1: to myself, like, damn, like how far you came? Do
- 30:52Speaker 1: you ever do you ever like take the time to
- 30:54Speaker 1: appreciate the journey that it's been and how how you
- 30:56Speaker 1: guys are like have shaped the culture. That's exactly what
- 31:00Speaker 1: this album is about. It's about like going it's nostalgic,
- 31:05Speaker 1: It's about getting back to the root of it, Like,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you know, we did more with less. Let's getting back
- 31:12Speaker 1: to the foundation. Like that's why it's like simply called Herbert,
- 31:15Speaker 1: it's simply my name. It's simply about that, like what
- 31:19Speaker 1: it took to get to this point, Like, and I
- 31:22Speaker 1: felt like I was getting too far away from that.
- 31:30Speaker 1: You know, I was just becoming this you know, this
- 31:34Speaker 1: this this this character even you know, I was becoming
- 31:39Speaker 1: apps sold versus you know, this album is for This
- 31:45Speaker 1: album is for the people who will never call me
- 31:48Speaker 1: apps all that that I'm still Herb. I'm still I'm
- 31:53Speaker 1: still a little Herb. I'm still Herbert. It's for those people,
- 31:56Speaker 1: and it just so happens to it's like, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: you know of course, I mean, yeah exactly, because you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: it's just about your foundation is everything. Man, the tree
- 32:10Speaker 1: grows from the bottom, and if you just if you
- 32:15Speaker 1: when you forget that and you you know, you get
- 32:18Speaker 1: too far away from that without acknowledging that, without you know,
- 32:25Speaker 1: appreciating that, right, you know, you could, you know you could,
- 32:31Speaker 1: you could lose you could lose yourself in this man,
- 32:33Speaker 1: very very easy. Yeah. And I think it's like sometimes
- 32:37Speaker 1: we do ourselves a disservice by not reflecting and not
- 32:40Speaker 1: yeah maybe once every few months, just sitting back and
- 32:43Speaker 1: just appreciating what you what you got exactly, yeah for sure.
- 32:48Speaker 1: And it's not it's not a because you could you could,
- 32:53Speaker 1: You could you could easily like start what a should
- 32:56Speaker 1: have cutting too, yeah for sure. And then and then
- 33:00Speaker 1: also looking at your peers and then being like, ah, man,
- 33:04Speaker 1: you know I should, but but that's not it. It's
- 33:06Speaker 1: just about like man, like, it's about just the just
- 33:09Speaker 1: the journey and just appreciating the journey and what it
- 33:12Speaker 1: took to get here and you know, everybody that was
- 33:16Speaker 1: involved and you know everything that you know, It's just
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's you know, it's very important that we stay connected,
- 33:26Speaker 1: you know, to the to the bottom. Yep, you know
- 33:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And that's that's that's basically what the
- 33:32Speaker 1: album is about. It's not it's not that deep this time, right,
- 33:36Speaker 1: you know, it's not. It's really not that deep this time.
- 33:40Speaker 1: It's just really about the last album a little deeper,
- 33:43Speaker 1: a little Jesus. Yeah, I took it to Cairo. It's hieroglyphic,
- 33:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But I mean, you know, yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: it's a classic you know to me. But I mean,
- 33:54Speaker 1: you know, but I'm saying, like, so this was me
- 33:56Speaker 1: just trying to get back toself Man before before all
- 34:02Speaker 1: of this stuff. You know, can you give me any
- 34:07Speaker 1: sort of insight because I know a lot of people,
- 34:11Speaker 1: you know, have already gotten over the fact that the
- 34:14Speaker 1: black hippie Album of Lores came and went. You know,
- 34:20Speaker 1: but how many songs or if any, were set aside
- 34:24Speaker 1: for this this detox of a dream that we all had.
- 34:30Speaker 1: It could be zero. It could be three. I don't
- 34:31Speaker 1: know how many, how many, like how many records were
- 34:33Speaker 1: like conservatively like, Okay, if we do this black hippie thing,
- 34:37Speaker 1: this is this is in that folder on that hard drug.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Well that's what I'm gonna say. That's why I say again,
- 34:43Speaker 1: we did more with less, so you know, I don't
- 34:47Speaker 1: want to you know, yeah, but fuck wack hippie man dumb.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I'm the best rapper at all them that niggas can't
- 34:57Speaker 1: rap with me, you know what I'm saying. I mean,
- 35:02Speaker 1: we do know Q can owt golf you though, absolutely,
- 35:06Speaker 1: that's that's been that's been proven. Right. Yeah, he's a
- 35:08Speaker 1: uh he's on that golf course. Jesus Christ. Has he
- 35:13Speaker 1: ever have you like gone like actually when he Have
- 35:16Speaker 1: you been golfing with him? No? Not yet. Yeah, he said,
- 35:20Speaker 1: I with your vision situation, I'd waste time. I was
- 35:25Speaker 1: gonna say, with your vision situation, is you going golfing
- 35:28Speaker 1: the safest thing? I mean, I know, I know you're
- 35:31Speaker 1: not blind blind, but like I mean to say this,
- 35:34Speaker 1: it's not a safety issue. He just was like, Bro,
- 35:36Speaker 1: you be holding us up. I'm not gonna have you
- 35:41Speaker 1: out there. We're trying to you know what I mean,
- 35:42Speaker 1: Like he's like a fucking pronoun. He's really he really
- 35:45Speaker 1: does that ship. So that's just the whole thing. But
- 35:48Speaker 1: like you know, I'm sure I get out there. Just
- 35:50Speaker 1: I've never like been on an actual golf course. Have
- 35:53Speaker 1: you been to Top Golf? I went to That's what
- 35:55Speaker 1: I'm saying. You saw me on top school. Top golf
- 35:58Speaker 1: is cool, But I'm saying, one day I want to
- 36:00Speaker 1: like go on the actual golf course and get in
- 36:02Speaker 1: the cart the card, have some beers and you know,
- 36:06Speaker 1: shoot the ship, meet the meet the rich people. You know,
- 36:09Speaker 1: shoot the ship, meet the rich. You know what I'm saying.
- 36:13Speaker 1: That's great. You feel me join a country club? You know,
- 36:16Speaker 1: I want to do the whole thing. I want to
- 36:18Speaker 1: do the whole dance. Man, give me a nice Omelet
- 36:20Speaker 1: you know, those country clubs are expensive. That's what I'm saying. Man,
- 36:22Speaker 1: give me a fifty dollars Omelet you know, I feel
- 36:25Speaker 1: like enjoy life. The only do you ever watch a
- 36:28Speaker 1: Curby enthusiasm? I love Kirby. It's my favorite show ever,
- 36:31Speaker 1: one of my favorite shows. The only thing I relate
- 36:34Speaker 1: to country club Ship is everything that him and Jeff
- 36:37Speaker 1: because they're always about that episode with the Swan. There's
- 36:40Speaker 1: a million episodes the Country Club. Man. If I get
- 36:46Speaker 1: like Larry David's age, I'm gonna join me at country
- 36:49Speaker 1: club for sure. I'm gonna get wrapped up in a
- 36:51Speaker 1: bunch of old fucking politics with these old fucking people. Yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: it just looks great on the show. I can't wait
- 36:57Speaker 1: till the next season. Oh, the last was amazing when
- 37:02Speaker 1: he was fucking that annoying politician lady bro. Yeah, it was.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Oh my god. Would you where would you rank? Like,
- 37:09Speaker 1: give me your top five like sitcoms, like or comedy.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I can't. I'm just terrible with the top five. Just
- 37:16Speaker 1: give me five of your favorites. Now. No, we're not
- 37:18Speaker 1: talking about dramas. We're not talking about the breaking bads
- 37:20Speaker 1: of the world with the sopranos. I'm talking about just
- 37:22Speaker 1: funny shows. Funny shows, man, Oh my god, I can't
- 37:26Speaker 1: do this with you. I seriously can't, man, because I'll
- 37:31Speaker 1: tell you this, Like after I watched Curb, that made
- 37:34Speaker 1: me go back and watch Seinfeld. Yeah, I was, I saw.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I watched Seinfeld first. I never I didn't get it.
- 37:40Speaker 1: I couldn't understand. I was younger obviously, But I mean
- 37:42Speaker 1: I never understood it until I saw a Curb. I
- 37:44Speaker 1: watched Curb, and then I went and watch Seinfeld's fucking brilliant. Yeah. Uh.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Then I watched for some like, for some reason, I
- 37:53Speaker 1: watched fucking Fraser. I love Fraser Solids funny as, which
- 37:58Speaker 1: was a off of years. Yeah, and then like, you know,
- 38:03Speaker 1: I'm just on I've been on that, like I've just
- 38:05Speaker 1: been on the like watching the old joints that you know,
- 38:11Speaker 1: you know, the Sopranos, Sopranos, Ray Donovan, Oh, Ray Donovan?
- 38:16Speaker 1: Is that I just I can't do that. I can't
- 38:18Speaker 1: do the face. But not a lot of people fuck
- 38:20Speaker 1: with Ray Donovan. That's Matt looks like Ray Donovan. By
- 38:23Speaker 1: the way, I think that's just I think I think
- 38:26Speaker 1: it might be racist. Yeah, you're just told me all
- 38:31Speaker 1: white people look the same. And I'm looking at that
- 38:35Speaker 1: right now. He looked like Ray Donovans. Watch what you
- 38:37Speaker 1: get a good look at? Maybe if he gets a
- 38:39Speaker 1: good cut, watch it. Yeah, exactly, Ray Donovan was crazy. No,
- 38:43Speaker 1: but Sopranos, what about did you fuck with the wire?
- 38:45Speaker 1: Of course the Wires? I rewatched during the pandemic for
- 38:48Speaker 1: the first time in like ten years, and I was like, oh,
- 38:50Speaker 1: it's the go to me. Yeah, the wires, I got
- 38:52Speaker 1: the wire breaking bad sopranos. Those are my three on
- 38:56Speaker 1: the funny ship though it's like Curby Enthusiasm and and
- 38:58Speaker 1: just everything else. Hey, we got to it's not the interview,
- 39:00Speaker 1: real quick to tell you about our family at Hard Dean.

- 39:16Speaker 1: the Raiders, suckcock, whatever it is. Make sure you pull
- 39:20Speaker 1: up to Hardean Las Vegas. Tell them I sent you.

- 40:13Speaker 1: it's going down all right, let's get back to the interview. Yeah,
- 40:16Speaker 1: the Boon Dogs I liked. I like like New Girl. Oh,
- 40:18Speaker 1: I mean you know the Boon Docks obviously. Yeah, shout
- 40:22Speaker 1: out to my New Girl. Shout out to my brother
- 40:23Speaker 1: Doe Burger Man, you know, long lived dough Burger. You
- 40:26Speaker 1: know I just lost him. We were literally we're literally
- 40:29Speaker 1: Huy and Riley from the Boone Dog. Wow. So you know,
- 40:32Speaker 1: I had to, man, I had to say that since
- 40:34Speaker 1: she said that I like New Girl on New Girl's good.
- 40:38Speaker 1: New Girl's funny as hell. Fucking do you ever watch
- 40:43Speaker 1: fis for Family? The Bill Burr shit, he's got to see. Yeah,
- 40:46Speaker 1: the cartoon, right, that was pretty funny, Happy endings. Yeah,
- 40:51Speaker 1: do you watch any stand up ship? Yeah, you're like,
- 40:54Speaker 1: who's like, like, like, what's I want to see? JB
- 40:57Speaker 1: Smooth so bad Live. He's so funny. He's hilarious. Man,
- 41:03Speaker 1: if you think about like his character is like so
- 41:06Speaker 1: iconic on TV. Oh bro bro that whole when they
- 41:10Speaker 1: had that fucking episode where he was like fixing ship
- 41:13Speaker 1: for people, he was like the handyman, but he really
- 41:15Speaker 1: didn't know what the fuck he was doing. About the
- 41:16Speaker 1: end of the episode, everything breaks that he fixed classic ship.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I always kind of consider you to be kind of
- 41:22Speaker 1: like one of the like rap Jedies. Yeah, you know,
- 41:25Speaker 1: yeah I am when we talk about a Jedi. Yeah
- 41:31Speaker 1: was he I don't know. I wouldn't held the gun. No,
- 41:33Speaker 1: you're like Luke Skywalker mix Windle. I didn't get too
- 41:38Speaker 1: deep into Star Wars. Overrated franchise. Don't say that it's
- 41:42Speaker 1: a little overrated, don't say that it's good. I'm not
- 41:44Speaker 1: saying that Star Wars, like Clone Wars, the cartoon series,
- 41:49Speaker 1: is the best thing that they ever put out. But
- 41:51Speaker 1: with that being said, who's in the club with you? Man?
- 41:55Speaker 1: In your opinion, who's in that Jedi club? Wow? Mm
- 42:01Speaker 1: hm the Jedi Club Man, Jesus, I hate naming names, man,
- 42:08Speaker 1: I'm with the guys, man, and let's and let's do this.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Can we say that before you start naming names. I'm
- 42:15Speaker 1: gonna then I'm asking you this on the fly, so
- 42:17Speaker 1: you might leave some names off. I'm gonna leave some
- 42:19Speaker 1: names off. Man. I have to say, you know, Kendrick,
- 42:30Speaker 1: of course, man, he's but you know, me and Kendrick
- 42:32Speaker 1: are Kenning ryu You know what I'm saying. I'm I'm
- 42:36Speaker 1: Ken He's Ryo. Of course I have to say that.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I gotta give it the cold of course. Uh. You know,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I have to say Drake, but Drake, like it's like unfair.
- 42:52Speaker 1: He's kind of like a cheat, cheat code. He's a
- 42:54Speaker 1: cheat cold, but he doesn't cheat. He does it. I mean,
- 42:58Speaker 1: I'm not doing it. Drake is Drake, Man, No, Drake's Drake. Drake, Drake, Drake,
- 43:04Speaker 1: He's Drake. I'm not gonna leave him out. You got
- 43:08Speaker 1: Big Sean killed, by the way killed that verse on
- 43:11Speaker 1: your house went went off, Joey badass of course, of course, Jed.
- 43:17Speaker 1: I love Jed, I love Chance, I love Uh, I
- 43:25Speaker 1: really love Mike Jenkins. Yo make his fire his fire
- 43:30Speaker 1: earl of course, Vince, of course, you know Jesus christ Man,
- 43:36Speaker 1: the guys man. There's a lot, there's a lot of
- 43:39Speaker 1: Jedis out there. Man, I don't want to what about this.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I just got under an argument with my boy. We
- 43:45Speaker 1: were arguing about the two most underrated rappers ever and
- 43:49Speaker 1: the argument was between Black Thought and Sean Price Jesus
- 43:52Speaker 1: christ Now, I said Sean Price because Black Thoughts got
- 43:55Speaker 1: the accolades of the roots, being on TV, Grammy, et cetera.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Who do you think is the most underrated rapper of
- 44:00Speaker 1: all time? See your hip hop ad? Cannabis cannabis fuck, yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 1: but it's understood. Yeah, I had him on the show
- 44:11Speaker 1: last year. Yeah, that's that's Cannabis is my fucking He's
- 44:15Speaker 1: like the reason. But anyway, would you consideruen like one
- 44:20Speaker 1: one of the biggest influence, one of the biggest influences
- 44:25Speaker 1: and he knows this, like, yeah, two thousand BC was
- 44:29Speaker 1: I feel like was like a lot of people passed
- 44:31Speaker 1: over that project because and I loved even I love
- 44:34Speaker 1: cana n word. I battle you on a net, I
- 44:40Speaker 1: battle you in the flesh, battle you over the phone.
- 44:43Speaker 1: You could call me collect I battle you for the respect.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I battle you over a blank check. I battle you
- 44:48Speaker 1: with a gun on my neck. I battle you standing
- 44:50Speaker 1: over the toilet with my dick out. I battle you
- 44:53Speaker 1: juggling a hand grenade with the pin out and the
- 44:56Speaker 1: stolen car with the fan number ripped out, drinking again
- 44:58Speaker 1: in style, doing a three six the spin out shout
- 45:01Speaker 1: out to Cannabis. You guys ever worked together? We Yeah,
- 45:07Speaker 1: I mean he's a peculiar guy. Yeah, but you know
- 45:09Speaker 1: he's But like I said, yeah, no for sure, No,
- 45:13Speaker 1: for sure. That's a great answer. By the way, this
- 45:17Speaker 1: is definitely one of the most underrated rappers ever. Yeah,
- 45:19Speaker 1: but I think it's like because he's kind of like
- 45:21Speaker 1: the lyrical spiritual miracle, Like when people say that, but
- 45:24Speaker 1: they're talking about like him, kind of they're talking about him,
- 45:27Speaker 1: but like the one that makes sense with it. But like,
- 45:30Speaker 1: I think that he I think Cannabis got what he
- 45:32Speaker 1: wanted out of raph Yeah that's fair. I think he
- 45:36Speaker 1: got exactly what he wanted out of this. So how
- 45:39Speaker 1: long are we going to have to wait for another album?
- 45:42Speaker 1: Not long at all? Okay, I'm telling you it only
- 45:45Speaker 1: you know. I don't want to blame the pandemic want
- 45:49Speaker 1: to blame. You know, I'm to blame. No one else
- 45:51Speaker 1: is to blame. Let's kill the let's kill the let's
- 45:58Speaker 1: notize the time and punch or holding our shelfing us
- 46:02Speaker 1: and all of that. Can we normalize? We do hear
- 46:06Speaker 1: that a lot. That's cool and they think it's cute,
- 46:08Speaker 1: Like yeah, just let them blame us. Bro, Listen, this
- 46:11Speaker 1: is the game. Like we're really family. We don't we
- 46:15Speaker 1: put out We put out product that we all feel
- 46:19Speaker 1: is great because we all represent each other. And that's
- 46:23Speaker 1: just how it is. But if I want, if if
- 46:26Speaker 1: I if I feel strong enough about anything, I have
- 46:30Speaker 1: the creative control to do it. So let's just set
- 46:35Speaker 1: that recond straight. So the narrative that because we hear it,
- 46:39Speaker 1: it doesn't matter which artist we can name on the label,
- 46:41Speaker 1: if we wait, if the if it's too long before
- 46:43Speaker 1: we get an album, the fans always say it's punch
- 46:47Speaker 1: or it's top exactly. No, we're gonna get rid of
- 46:49Speaker 1: that narrative here. We're going to get rid of that
- 46:51Speaker 1: narrative here, please. And I'd like to point out you
- 46:54Speaker 1: guys have like quality control wise, probably like when we
- 46:57Speaker 1: think of like artistic integrity, like the highest of any
- 46:59Speaker 1: lap hop scene, and dream Vielles right behind you, closing
- 47:03Speaker 1: a great job of curating his roster and finding a
- 47:05Speaker 1: great artist. But absolutely with that like quality, it's not
- 47:09Speaker 1: Michael Waveable ship Like nah, that's That's what I'm saying,
- 47:12Speaker 1: because we all, I feel like, you know, luckily, I
- 47:18Speaker 1: think we all came in with the same premise. Like
- 47:20Speaker 1: we all like came in like you got to understand too,
- 47:23Speaker 1: like you know we could we're from like let's not
- 47:26Speaker 1: let's not get it twisted, bro, Like we're from La. Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 1: We all enemies, Like we're not supposed to be friends,
- 47:35Speaker 1: none of us. That was our whole premise. Like we
- 47:39Speaker 1: came in like trying to you know, unite, unite and
- 47:42Speaker 1: try to you know dead the you know the the
- 47:48Speaker 1: generational you know curses, you know, try to try to
- 47:51Speaker 1: try to end this, you know this the cycle you
- 47:53Speaker 1: know that was. We came in with that premise and
- 47:56Speaker 1: the fact just that alone, like aside from the you know,
- 48:01Speaker 1: the creative aspect that we you know, the chemistry that
- 48:03Speaker 1: we have, we came in with that same premise because
- 48:08Speaker 1: we are not supposed to be friends. We are all
- 48:09Speaker 1: enemies politics, La politics, l a politics. You know, yeah,
- 48:15Speaker 1: if you know, if you know, you know, if if
- 48:19Speaker 1: you don't, I mean that's that's cool too. But just
- 48:21Speaker 1: know like that alone was powerful enough for you know,
- 48:24Speaker 1: for all of us that we were able to be
- 48:27Speaker 1: These are my best friends, these are my brothers, these
- 48:29Speaker 1: are family than me. And and the fact that it's cool,
- 48:34Speaker 1: the fact that it's been it's been accepted. You know,
- 48:36Speaker 1: there was no I ain't have to I ain't have
- 48:39Speaker 1: to go argue with you know, with the with the
- 48:42Speaker 1: homies about what I'm doing. I ain't have to go
- 48:44Speaker 1: every The fact that it's accepted is is beautiful. Hey,
- 48:48Speaker 1: we got to stop the interview to tell you about
- 48:50Speaker 1: our family at odd socks. That's right, the most comfortable

- 50:42Speaker 1: do feel like too, you guys have kind of influenced
- 50:45Speaker 1: a new generation a LA artists whom aren't letting politics
- 50:50Speaker 1: get in the way of working together as maybe ten
- 50:53Speaker 1: or twelve years ago that would have been the case. Now,
- 50:55Speaker 1: not to say that because that still happens. It still happens.
- 50:58Speaker 1: If it happens, it's because it's a real thing, and
- 51:03Speaker 1: we can't it's a real thing. Like Scott, I'm just saying,
- 51:07Speaker 1: like the new generation like they work together so much
- 51:09Speaker 1: more in LA, and I yeah, I feel like we
- 51:15Speaker 1: I feel like we set the stage for that to
- 51:18Speaker 1: be possible. I can I can honestly say that with
- 51:21Speaker 1: all you know, with the you know, with the utmost respect,
- 51:24Speaker 1: not trying to be like we started this ship. You know,
- 51:29Speaker 1: we we set the stage for that, you know that
- 51:35Speaker 1: that idea like you know, red and blue may green
- 51:40Speaker 1: like yeah, like put us we're brothers, like we all
- 51:43Speaker 1: fighting the same fight. Just happened to be born where
- 51:45Speaker 1: we were born. Born, we were born, we're from where
- 51:47Speaker 1: we're from. We did what we did. You know, this
- 51:49Speaker 1: happened to this happened. You know what I'm saying, My my,
- 51:53Speaker 1: my homie might have did this to your homie. My
- 51:56Speaker 1: family member might have did this to your family member,
- 51:58Speaker 1: but this is us, and the cycle got to stop somewhere.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Who's the second greatest rapper from Carson? Oh you're number one,
- 52:12Speaker 1: I'd say, well, I mean if I'm number one, then
- 52:14Speaker 1: we gotta gotta I mean, I gotta go rass Cast.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I was gonna say, because nature of the threat alone,
- 52:20Speaker 1: it's like right exactly, so yeah, if we're gonna get it,
- 52:23Speaker 1: you know, so you see there you see the connection.
- 52:25Speaker 1: I mean was that because like I remember one time
- 52:28Speaker 1: Razs cast walking, I literally did you know I did
- 52:30Speaker 1: threatening nature? Like on my last I did that based
- 52:33Speaker 1: off nature. You know, we've had that talk and his
- 52:36Speaker 1: sons are fire. Bro, He's got those twins in the
- 52:39Speaker 1: Contra Coast Contrast, and like I met them early because
- 52:43Speaker 1: I had you know, I had Teacher Moses on my
- 52:45Speaker 1: last album too, and I didn't they I don't know
- 52:48Speaker 1: if they were rapping yet, but they she bought them
- 52:51Speaker 1: there and they were just like flies on the wall.
- 52:54Speaker 1: Like I didn't even pay no attention because I was
- 52:55Speaker 1: just a big fan of Teacher and that's when I
- 52:59Speaker 1: had met them. And then just to see what they've

- 54:42Speaker 1: my first demo was on cassette. Like I come from that,
- 54:45Speaker 1: Like two questions before you leave one. Yeah, you brought
- 54:49Speaker 1: up the source earlier. What's an album that didn't get
- 54:52Speaker 1: five mics? It should have got five mics. First one
- 54:53Speaker 1: that comes to your head, I'll start Doggy Style. Doug
- 55:02Speaker 1: Style only got four and a half mikes. Fucking crazy.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I think what's the name Wayne? I don't think the

- 55:15Speaker 1: Yeahman Jr. Was my ship, Jesus christ I missed my dogs.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Come on, oh man, I think they slided Wayne on
- 55:21Speaker 1: the Carter. I think they had to rewrite the blueprint.
- 55:27Speaker 1: I don't think they gave the blueprint five mikes the
- 55:29Speaker 1: first time. I think they had to. They didn't give
- 55:31Speaker 1: reasonable doubt five mics. Yeah, they didn't give reasonable five mics.
- 55:34Speaker 1: They didn't give but they went back and gave the
- 55:37Speaker 1: blueprint five. I remember that, though. I don't think thirty
- 55:39Speaker 1: six Chambers got five mics. Jesus Christy what I'm saying? Yeah?
- 55:42Speaker 1: So I mean I come from that airlight to where
- 55:44Speaker 1: it's like it mattered. Yeah it mattered. Yeah that Like seriously,
- 55:48Speaker 1: the last thing, tell me about the craziest psychedelic trip

- 56:41Speaker 1: Me and q dis shrooms together for the first time,
- 56:43Speaker 1: and we were literally telepathic, like literally like you guys
- 56:46Speaker 1: were fucking on the same wave, like we were bugging
- 56:49Speaker 1: the funk out. And I was laying down on the
- 56:52Speaker 1: ground on my head. You can ask me, I swear
- 56:55Speaker 1: I would I buy on the ground like like almost
- 56:58Speaker 1: like in the feet, right mm hmm. And then he
- 57:05Speaker 1: asked me in his head, he said, bro, are we
- 57:07Speaker 1: mind bouncing right now? In his head? And I said, yes,
- 57:11Speaker 1: we are, Bro. Stop you're tripping me the fuck out.

- 58:21Speaker 1: of represent that for sure. That a right, which is
- 58:25Speaker 1: not which I own. I'm not. I'm not saying that,
