  Well, I have discovered about myself long ago, I've always
• 2:23
  been a even whenever I was a kid and a young man, always seen
• 2:27
  myself as a person with common sense.

  I remember when my mother used to say, all right, let's go to
• 2:34
  church. And I would say, why, why?
• 2:37
  Why do I need to go to church for her?
• 2:39
  And she would say, because you're going to get closer to
• 2:42
  God, you'll be able to talk to God that way.
• 2:45
  And then I would argue with her and I'd say, well, God is
• 2:49
  omnipresent. He's everywhere.
• 2:50
  Don't really need to go anywhere.
• 2:53
  I can just pray in my closet. I can pray on my bed, I can pray
• 2:57
  in the backyard. I can even pray whenever I'm
• 3:01
  hanging out with my friends and all that.
• 3:05
  Hell, I can even do it at recess at school if I want to.
• 3:08
  Don't have to actually go to a a building to do that kind of
• 3:13
  thing. And she said, well, there's also
• 3:16
  fellowship. Well the problem with that is
• 3:19
  when you get around people who claim to believe in God, some
• 3:23
  people get so obsessive with their beliefs and their views
• 3:27
  that they start acting like their own little demigod.
• 3:32
  They tell you what to do, they tell you what God expects from
• 3:36
  you. And usually at the end of the
• 3:39
  day, the people that like to supervise your soul and do all
• 3:44
  kinds of fruit sniffing are usually, What I have discovered
• 3:49
  is that the most righteous people of all are usually the
• 3:53
  biggest sinners of all because they send so much and they
• 3:57
  screwed up so much in the world. Now they're absolutely aware of
• 4:02
  every single sin that takes place and they feel like they
• 4:05
  got to keep everybody else from sinning.
• 4:07
  And if you do make a mistake or you do something that even hints
• 4:11
  towards that you're about to do something, they're right there
• 4:16
  in your ear to tell you how you have failed or you know what you
• 4:21
  need to do better or whatever nugget of wisdom they want to
• 4:25
  give you. I got a little bit of a cold
• 4:29
  today, so you have to forgive me, ladies and gentlemen.

  And no one likes that. No, no one, no one likes someone
• 4:37
  like leaning over your shoulder and constantly playing the, the
• 4:42
  good cop, bad cop, the good Angel, the bad Angel, all that
• 4:46
  kind of stuff. And people also don't like it
• 4:49
  whenever they just want to sit down and talk to somebody and be
• 4:54
  friendly and then they've got to hear a sermon or some kind of
• 5:00
  big old life story from somebody they hardly know when alls
• 5:04
  they're trying to do is find out where the coffee machine is.
• 5:07
  You know, that's one thing I discovered whenever I tried to
• 5:12
  do church. Everybody wanted to tell me
• 5:14
  their life story. Everybody wanted to tell me
• 5:17
  their interpretation of God. Obviously it was the one way and
• 5:22
  every other way was wrong, even if it just happened to be
• 5:24
  another Christian standing 5 feet away.
• 5:29
  A lot of religious people do that.
• 5:31
  I've discovered when trying to make friends with religious
• 5:34
  people online, if I don't fall into their particular
• 5:40
  specifications of what a person ought to be or do, then they
• 5:47
  shun you. And when I say shun you, I mean
• 5:50
  they won't keep contact with you, They won't talk to you
• 5:54
  unless you fulfill their roles. I had that happen with many,
• 5:58
  many people out there. And the same people, they make
• 6:04
  the biggest mistakes that you could ever imagine.
• 6:06
  The same people, they feel like whenever they're angry or they
• 6:10
  do something or they, you know, shoot out their rage or whatever
• 6:17
  is going on in them emotionally that it's righteous.
• 6:21
  They always have a justification excuse for the way they behave
• 6:26
  with anybody else. Well, you've heard it before,
• 6:30
  right? You've seen these people where
• 6:33
  if you do something, then it's not just that it bothers them,
• 6:38
  but it's something that you've done directly against God
• 6:42
  himself. It's like if you step on their
• 6:44
  toe, you stepped on God's toe too.
• 6:49
  So I, I never really enjoyed religion.
• 6:52
  I never really enjoyed going to church and to be honest with
• 6:55
  you, I probably had lost my faith a long time ago and became
• 7:00
  an unbeliever, not because of God or because when I was
• 7:05
  praying to God I felt irritated at God himself.
• 7:09
  But you get irritated at being around people because people are
• 7:14
  the major problems in the world. People 'cause other people to
• 7:18
  suffer. People disappoint each other.
• 7:21
  People covet each other, people want things, and people like to
• 7:27
  control other people, whether they're political, religious or
• 7:31
  whatever. Atheist.
• 7:34
  It's always like that. It seems like whenever I stay
• 7:38
  away from people, I have less problems.
• 7:42
  If I just mind my own business and I do my own thing.
• 7:47
  If I don't try to engage or interact with any human being
• 7:52
  out there, I do just fine. There's a lot of cliches though,
• 7:56
  you know, I I've seen it whenever I was watching the TV
• 7:59
  show Young Sheldon and any of these family shows out here.

  Where parents or adults are always telling their kids that
• 8:07
  are busy playing a video game, they say you should get out.
• 8:11
  You should go out in the front yard and hang out with the
• 8:13
  neighbor's kid or you should go out and, you know, join one of
• 8:18
  these school programs or, you know, go camping, go do this, go
• 8:22
  do that, anything but sit alone and, and think.
• 8:28
  Some of the best ideas and thoughts I've ever come up with
• 8:31
  is whenever I'm just sitting on the toilet all by myself or I'm
• 8:34
  just chilling out and relaxing when there's too much crap
• 8:39
  coming at me, I can't think straight.
• 8:41
  I can't come up with some of the interesting, fascinating ideas
• 8:45
  or revelations that I have when I'm around people.
• 8:50
  So I think that's the problem. When it comes down to it, I
• 8:54
  think there's a lot of people that also feel the same way.
• 8:56
  They're tired of religion. But when you think about it and
• 9:00
  you cut through the ice, when you really really observe and
• 9:06
  take a step back, you find out it's not so much even religion
• 9:11
  that makes you angry or loses your faith or questions God, but
• 9:17
  it's people themselves. Think about it even as a non
• 9:21
  believer. For those out there who are
• 9:25
  atheist, when you used to be religious according to your own
• 9:29
  claims, there was never a time where whenever you prayed to
• 9:35
  God, when you did believe in him, where God told you that you
• 9:39
  were a loser or a piece of trash.
• 9:41
  According to you, you never even heard God, so it wasn't God's
• 9:45
  fault while you got angry. But if I were to ask you what
• 9:49
  bothered you, you would probably say that somebody who was
• 9:53
  religious said something stupid or somebody who was religious
• 9:58
  said something irritating. Or you're going to say my mother
• 10:01
  was religious and she was a hypocrite.
• 10:04
  My dad was religious, but he did bad things.
• 10:07
  He was either physical, mental, or emotionally wearing on your
• 10:11
  ass. Or perhaps you hung out with
• 10:14
  some friends and they did things that really broke your heart or
• 10:19
  bothered you. Or you just from time to time
• 10:24
  randomly ran into people that you thought were absolutely
• 10:27
  stupid, who said stupid things about God, and you decided,
• 10:33
  well, that's not for me. That's not what I want to do.
• 10:37
  So the point is, is that you didn't lose your faith over God
• 10:41
  himself. God didn't do anything to you
• 10:44
  according to your own testimony, and it's not because of
• 10:50
  religion, because religion itself is not a living function.
• 10:53
  It's simply a label that represents a group of people who
• 10:58
  claim to believe in the same thing, but nine times out of 10
• 11:02
  usually don't. I can't think of one time where
• 11:05
  I went to any church out there, whether it's a Pentecostal,
• 11:09
  Baptist, Catholic or anything, even Mormons, where I run into
• 11:15
  two people who think alike in any of the religions.
• 11:17
  Everybody's got their own interpretation and idea.
• 11:22
  So, yeah, at the end of the day, if if you say that you've lost
• 11:26
  faith or that you just don't feel like there's enough reason
• 11:30
  to entertain the idea that there's God, it's because all
• 11:34
  this time you've relied on the thoughts and views of someone
• 11:41
  else who is in the middle of their walk or tripping along the
• 11:45
  potholes on their road to wisdom and truth.
• 11:49
  And you ended up because you followed them, you fell into
• 11:53
  their potholes and they're nonsense.
• 11:55
  And at some point in time, you just said, you know what, I'm
• 11:59
  not going to go down this road anymore.
• 12:01
  I'm just going to pull over on the side and I will sit here on
• 12:04
  the side of the road in this dark forest and I'll wait for
• 12:08
  somebody to come along and pick me up if it's meant to happen,
• 12:13
  or I'll just sit here. A lot of people think like that,
• 12:19
  unfortunately. We know how that works in
• 12:23
  reality, don't we? In reality, when you pull over
• 12:33
  in the dark forest or you pull over on the side of the road and
• 12:37
  turn off the vehicle and just sit back and wait for something
• 12:41
  to happen, well, even a person who prays a lot can probably
• 12:45
  tell you. At the end of the day,
• 12:47
  eventually if you want to get anywhere, whether you believe in
• 12:50
  God or not, you're going to have to start the ignition and move
• 12:53
  forward. Going where?
• 12:56
  Well, you need a direction, you need a purpose.
• 13:00
  You need some place that you're willing to go, that you want to
• 13:05
  go. Is the direction towards truth
• 13:09
  or is it towards lies? Is it towards looking for
• 13:12
  comfort or is it looking for someone who tell you what you
• 13:17
  want to hear or what? And that's where I really feel
• 13:24
  like things are. I feel like religion offers a
• 13:28
  road filled with potholes and nonsense and a lot of
• 13:31
  aggravation. And a lot of people, they take
• 13:36
  it because they think eventually it's going to lead to God.
• 13:40
  And then you've got the non believers who pulled over on the
• 13:43
  side of the road and they said, Nah, I don't want to go through
• 13:46
  all this bullshit. I shouldn't have to go through
• 13:50
  all this aggravation. Where is God?
• 13:53
  You know, why do I have to even go in a direction?
• 13:56
  Why do I have to do this? And at the end of the day,
• 14:00
  believe it or not, it's exactly how I responded to my mother
• 14:05
  every time she told me let's go to church is why do I need to?
• 14:10
  Why do I need to move forward? Why do I need to drive
• 14:13
  backwards? Why do I need to take the
• 14:15
  highway at all? God's omnipresent if I want to
• 14:19
  talk to Him, He knows where I'm at and I know where He's at.
• 14:23
  He's everywhere. He's all around me.
• 14:25
  He's not behind me. God's not going to turn his
• 14:28
  back. Because how does something
• 14:29
  that's omniscient and omnipresent and all knowing turn
• 14:33
  its back on you or abandon you if it's always in the same
• 14:37
  presence with you at all times, with your soul, with your flesh,
• 14:40
  with your mind, with your heart, all that.
• 14:44
  So if you think about that, then you realize that that struggle
• 14:49
  that you've had alongside the road the whole time and the ones
• 14:54
  that are still driving, why it is you keep hitting the potholes
• 15:00
  is because you think God can be found somewhere.
• 15:05
  You think that you need to look for God, but you don't need to
• 15:08
  do any of that. He's already there.
• 15:11
  You don't need to drive. You don't need to pull over.
• 15:14
  You don't need to be patient and wait.
• 15:17
  You're going to get what God has set out for you.
• 15:22
  You're not going to always get what you want or what you think
• 15:26
  that you need. Trust me.
• 15:29
  There's some things that I really wanted in life, and when
• 15:31
  I finally got it, they didn't turn out to be what they were
• 15:35
  cracked up to be. Sometimes when you get what you
• 15:37
  want, it ain't. It causes more problems than it
• 15:41
  does good. And sometimes when you don't get
• 15:45
  things, when you finally one day get up something like it or a
• 15:50
  piece of it, you feel as though you appreciate it more.
• 15:56
  Sometimes the harder we struggle for something, the more we
• 16:01
  appreciate it, the more we love it and the more we take care of
• 16:04
  it. The same with love too.
• 16:07
  If everything was given to you easily and stuff, you wouldn't
• 16:10
  appreciate what it is that you have until it's gone.
• 16:16
  So I think a lot of people do that.
• 16:19
  Some people, especially people that have been involved for a
• 16:24
  long time with one another, either as a friend or a partner
• 16:28
  or all that. As you get older, you start not
• 16:33
  seeing, you start forgetting why it is that you you were with
• 16:38
  people or got involved with people in the 1st place.
• 16:43
  And if we could only go back in time, right?
• 16:48
  If we could only realize why we started and struggled in the
• 16:53
  first place. There's a lot of ways to look at
• 16:58
  it, I suppose. But one thing is for sure and
• 17:03
  one thing I realized about myself, a lot of you out there,
• 17:07
  you claim that you have a personal relationship.
• 17:10
  A lot of you claim that you go to church and you do this and
• 17:13
  you do that and you do that in order to strengthen your
• 17:16
  relationship with God. Well, God doesn't need
• 17:21
  strengthening. God doesn't need you always to
• 17:25
  be on your knees in front of your bed and and with your
• 17:29
  little mittens together. I think that there's just a a
• 17:34
  moment of where you Revere and you respect.
• 17:39
  There's that, right? OK, Well, ladies and gentlemen,
• 17:45
  I hope you got something from my views, my ideas, what I've lived
• 17:53
  through. And you also have to realize at
• 17:56
  the end of the day, whether you join a church or put yourself
• 18:00
  under some kind of label for religion, you're doing it even
• 18:05
  if you pull over on the side of the road, even if you say, well,
• 18:08
  I don't even want to be part of it anymore.
• 18:11
  Well, unfortunately, gravity has its ups and downs, right?
• 18:16
  Either way, you're going to be put with some group out there.
• 18:20
  That's the way humans pigeonhole each other.
• 18:23
  See, I'm going to be a part of the group that just sits on the
• 18:25
  side of the highway. OK, then you're part of the
• 18:30
  group that doesn't move forward. You're the part of the group who
• 18:34
  sits back and thinks that it knows enough to why it shouldn't
• 18:39
  turn the ignition and go anywhere.
• 18:43
  You become your own little religion.
• 18:45
  You become the the side of the road Samaritans, the side of the
• 18:49
  road people. And I've always thought it was
• 18:53
  funny to the people who do sit on the side of the road.
• 18:57
  They're usually the ones, while they're watching all the other
• 19:00
  cars pass, who somehow convince themselves that everybody else
• 19:05
  is foolish and that they're the ones that are the the smart
• 19:09
  ones. OK, whether you're moving or
• 19:14
  whether you're going, that doesn't depend on your wisdom
• 19:18
  and intelligence. It's a destination, and it's
• 19:21
  what you finally realize about yourself that counts.
