- Sue: As I record this, it's a Friday afternoon. Like the rest of us, we all look forward to enjoying ourselves, kicking back, relaxing Friday night, maybe resting Saturday and Sunday and doing the stuff that we're passionate about, even if it's just napping for a couple of days. For me, when I set those kind of milestones of looking forward to a project ending or work ending, I get little butterflies in my stomach. I get a little excitement churning. I get a little anticipatory happy vibe about the things that I'm going to do. I suppose a lot of us feel that. So I'm preaching to the choir here. But my point of it all is that when you feel that vibe, that's the kind of thing you want to be aware of as you're experiencing it. Because when you do that, you can recall it and replicate it for something new. And the reason why that's important to me in my life, because when I have had times in my life that caused me stress and anxiety, I went through my little repertoire of events of things that I did enjoy, plugged in that recorded experience to apply to this new angst. And I've been drawn to use this technique, taking past experience vibes and plugging them in to help me get through a slow or bad or down patch. dark patch. I think I started doing that as a musician when I was learning how to play an instrument. Particularly when you were working on a work of music that had been recorded, I would listen to that recording to try and copy it, replicate it, as a confirmation that when I was able to do so that I had mastered, at least for my purposes, the performance of that work. Because I was taught at one point that I may be in a situation where I'm performing and didn't feel like performing. When you get to play an instrument professionally, the privilege that that is, that people pay you to play your instrument as opposed to sitting in your bedroom, you've got to give a top level performance no matter how you're feeling inside. So when it got to my personal life, I recognized I could do the same thing. That's the essence of turning within. As you go and look at your past experiences and you churn them up a little bit to recapture that vibe, if only to recognize that you're never going to go that place again. Right? And then you start figuring out what it is that it takes for you not to replicate that. But it also means that for the good, you can take those memories that you have, visualize them, Really get into feeling that vibe that you once felt that you thought was the most exciting day or fun day or whatever and apply it to those moments when you're feeling your lowest. They don't even have to be related, meaning that it could be a happy day because you got to, I don't know, ride in your favorite car, eat your favorite meal and what you're trying to get, you're trying to defunk might not have anything to do with those events, but they're nonetheless useful. Hack about remaining positive is to utilize the good vibes to make more good vibes. And if it's not something you've had a practice of doing, the next time something really good happens to you, hey, could be somebody speaking to you in the post office and having a little pleasant exchange. Well, take note of how you felt after that. Hold onto that a little bit. Kind of learn about it, how it feels, what is it that you did. Because then you let some time pass, maybe a day, maybe 12 hours, who knows? and quiz yourself, can you replicate that vibe that you felt at that time? I find it really effective when you replicate or try to replicate those vibes within that day. And I'll flex my muscles a little bit, do it a couple of times, and then I feel like I've gained control over that. And then you have to program yourself. Then when you're not feeling positive and you can't really explain why, plug in that memory right then and there. Sit in it for a couple of minutes. Yeah, it has nothing to do with what physically is going on in your life except that you've exerted the power over yourself, which is the autonomy over your emotions, your vibe. When the haters realize that they can no longer manipulate your vibe because you've regained control, you're going to be in a better place going forward. If only for the fact that you see those attacks coming before they actually hit you. As soon as you're aware that those attacks are going to come to you again, you're prepared. I used this particular hack when I was coming through the first year or so of grief following my husband's death because I chose not to have too many direct personal interactions with people and realized it was helpful to be in control of myself, that I didn't need other people around me to be happy. ⁓ yeah, I mean, I love hanging out with people. I'm going to this evening. But as a necessary part of my life... Well, not really. My happiness doesn't depend on others. But it was because I learned how to sort of repurpose those good vibes on demand that helped me get through it. And I think if you're a musician or have trained at something that requires a lot of solitary time to gain proficiency, what you're doing creatively, you might resonate with this. But everybody can do this, whether you're creative or not. If you have the ability to go back and think a little bit about... the times that you felt really good and physically what it felt like. Maybe there was some, you know, vibrations of electricity, whatever you want to call it, confirmation with a cross. But you might not have originally thought... reapply that vibe to something that wasn't suiting you. And for me, it's been very helpful. As I say, this is my personal blog. I'm just documenting my life experiences and sharing it with the idea that you're listening to this and it might resonate in a way and prompt your thinking in a manner that you hadn't before. Or you had and just need to revisit it. I don't know. I'm making these videos available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple. podcast and I see that Apple's just offered an option to add video to their audio only. The video is just extra. It's just videos that I shoot of nature as I'm walking out in the woods the day that I'm recording this or whatever I think of as relevant. Because for me, these blog posts represent a diary. Thank you for listening and thank you for sharing your resonances with me today. I appreciate you. you
