- 0:17Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 0:18Speaker 1: If it's Thursday, it's time for prayer.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Good morning everybody.
- 0:23Speaker 1: All right, so I'm just trying to turn off all of my notifications and a huge thank you to everybody who is watching from multiple channels, and I'm just glad you're here Today.
- 0:35Speaker 1: The topic we're going to talk about theme, is titles or alters, and I'm going to be coming in from 1st King 13.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So, if you have your Bible, you can look it up.
- 0:45Speaker 1: If you don't, I'm going to share my screen anyway, but this is going to be a quick teaching on something that was shared Actually we shared a couple days ago from another amazing, powerful woman of God.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'm biased in many ways.
- 1:01Speaker 1: She's amazing.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Her name is Karen Lathers and I'm giving her a shout out.
- 1:05Speaker 1: She's also my assistant in law.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So, before we go any further, I just want to thank you, lord, for the opportunity to come before your people again in video and in audio live and replay and just share your word and, lord, I pray that they will see you and not me, and be lifted and encouraged to walk this life, amen.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So so, y'all, what happened was we were actually having a conversation and it came up around the scripture of 1st King 13.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And, like I said, I'm going to share my screen, but something I put in the intro when I was pushing this thing out and, by the way, if you're, if you could please just like the video, because that helps.
- 1:45Speaker 1: It's a free way to support the channel.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It helps us get the word out to a lot more people.
- 1:50Speaker 1: But I talked about the reason that we're studying 1st King 13.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It's a story about a young prophet.
- 1:57Speaker 1: He was misled by an older prophet and this really touched in a lot of different areas.
- 2:03Speaker 1: But specifically, what I want to talk about is titles and in this, in this case, it's the title of a prophet and I'm going to try to relate this to to just you, and maybe you're not a prophet, but you're supervisor, you're VP, you're CEO, your mother, you're a missus.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You know those are also titles, but there are ways that those very titles can become altars that we worship on and we expect people to bow down to us because we carry these titles.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So I'm going to be speaking into that today.
- 2:35Speaker 1: The story really.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It really shows how revenge kind of took in and how jealousy took over and how the younger prophet really let the older, the older prophet, his title, undermine his specific divine instructions that ultimately did cost him his life.
- 2:54Speaker 1: And there are a lot of us today that are not being obedient to what we've been asked to do or called to do because we are listening to or being distracted by other folks who have titles right.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So this is, this is what this is.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So there's a difference between being, you know, following what the Lord gives you as an instruction, and then there's a different, and then then you know having somebody else with a different title come in and totally distract what you're supposed to be doing.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So, all right.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So I'm going to share my screen because I want to make sure this is this is all Bible-based and we're learning together.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So I'm in 1 Kings 13,.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to read the whole thing.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I encourage you to go back.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm going to pull out some of the things, just just so that you can understand the story.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Go back and read the full story.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It starts out I'm behold, a man of God came out of Judah, by the word of the Lord, a Bethel, a Jeroboam, was standing by the altar to make offerings.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And altar is, you know?
- 3:58Speaker 1: You probably see in my Google I was like how do I explain what an altar is.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It's basically a place where there's a communication between heaven and you.
- 4:08Speaker 1: It's best, so I can put it right.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So that's an altar.
- 4:12Speaker 1: In church, you know, you might be asked to, you know how the pastors will say you know, come on down to the altar to pray.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It's because that place has reverence, that place is where you, in the flesh, you are meeting with the Lord and you're presenting your prayers at the altar, and that's why it's so significant.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So a title is also an altar.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's kind of a gateway as to how you connect.
- 4:38Speaker 1: So a prophet connects to the word of God, and that's an altar, right, all right.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So I'm just kind of break it down that way.
- 4:46Speaker 1: So verse two it talks about the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said oh, altar, altar.
- 4:53Speaker 1: This says the Lord.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And it talks about Josiah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He shall sacrifice you on it and the priests and make offerings on you and so forth.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And then he shared that this is the sign of the Lord.
- 5:04Speaker 1: So it's obviously the king and I'm gonna paraphrase so we can get through it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And obviously, when the king heard the man of God saying this, you know he was upset, so he stretched out his hand in verse four and said seize him.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And his hand this is a king when he stretched out against him, dried up so that he could not draw it back into himself.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So of course the altar was torn down.
- 5:26Speaker 1: The ashes poured out from the altar according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the Lord.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So it's not just a man just saying something.
- 5:36Speaker 1: This was a revelation from the word, this was specific from the word.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So now the king is asking for favor and he obviously wants his hand to be restored.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And the king says to the man of God come home and refresh yourself with me.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Refresh yourself and I'll give you a reward.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And it turns out that this is the younger prophet that is acting.
- 6:00Speaker 1: This is who's acting in this part of the chapter.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So now you know, this man of God has said, saying to the king you know he has divine instructions If you give me half your house, I will not go in with you.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Like I'm not going in at all, I won't eat with you, I'm not drinking water, because it was commanded by the word of the Lord.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So he has specific divine instructions that he cannot do such a thing.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So he went the other way.
- 6:23Speaker 1: He didn't go back that way and he kind of kept on his journey.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So let's pause for a second.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So here you have a man of God.
- 6:32Speaker 1: He was given specific instructions, right, he it was backed up by the Lord, backed up by the Lord.
- 6:39Speaker 1: The Lord demonstrated his power through him.
- 6:41Speaker 1: So it's real right and he's following his divine instructions that he was given.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Don't go, you know, don't go back into the house, don't accept anything, stay focused on your journey.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And a lot of you have been given divine instructions on things you're supposed to be doing.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Follow those instructions.
- 6:58Speaker 1: So now here's where it gets a little bit crazy.
- 7:02Speaker 1: And I love, I love this lesson.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So the prophet disobedience.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And this is the ESV version, if you're following along.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So now an old prophet lived in Bethel and his sons came and told him all that the man of God had done.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Now I want you to watch this, because it didn't say that the Lord, the word of the Lord and angel, came.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It wasn't divine revelation, it was gossip.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So his sons came and told him all that the man of God had done that day in Bethel.
- 7:31Speaker 1: They couldn't even wait.
- 7:32Speaker 1: They also told to their fathers the word.
- 7:36Speaker 1: He had spoke it to the king.
- 7:37Speaker 1: This is what he said.
- 7:38Speaker 1: So the father who's the elder prophet right Now we're talking about altars, right.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And father said which way did he go?
- 7:46Speaker 1: He needs to know where this man is right.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Who does he think he is right?
- 7:50Speaker 1: And his sons showed him the way to the man.
- 7:53Speaker 1: So they knew where this, this, this younger prophet was, where he, where he gone.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And the older prophet says to the son saddle the donkey for me.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So they're, they're on it, right, and I highlighted donkey because donkeys and lions, they actually have a specific spiritual reference.
- 8:11Speaker 1: A donkey is usually used for strength and courage, right, but I've, I've, and I've highlighted it for myself because I knew what the word was telling me.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So they sounded donkey for him and he mounted it.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And he went after the man of God and found him cynic.
- 8:27Speaker 1: So he, he chased after this younger prophet, right, and he's questioning him are you the man of God who came from Judah?
- 8:34Speaker 1: And he and the younger prophet says I am.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And then he says to him come home with me and eat bread.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And the younger prophet says I may not return with you or go in with you.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Neither will I eat bread or drink water with you in this place before it was sent to me, sent to me by the word of the Lord.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Now he's repeating like these are my divine instructions, like I can't do that, right.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So the older prophet pulls rank and says I also am a prophet, as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, which we knew was a lie.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Right, the angel didn't speak to him.
- 9:08Speaker 1: His sons brought some gossip and told him where the younger prophet was.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And and this is happening right now there's a lot of folks, especially in the women ministry, and again, ministry could be you ministering the one person you minister in a thousand right.
- 9:23Speaker 1: But there are a lot, of, a lot of people who have been, who have been called by the Lord.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And when I say called, I don't mean anointed in church or by church, I mean anointed by God.
- 9:35Speaker 1: That's different, because the church can anoint you and give you a title, but if the Holy Spirit wasn't involved, it's just a title, and it's a title that you will end up dying on because you're not connected to anything that is divine.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So that's also a warning.
- 9:50Speaker 1: But here you have a situation where the younger prophet knew that the Lord gave him instructions.
- 9:56Speaker 1: But because an older prophet, because someone who had 30 years experience on the job, came in and said do it this way, and you knew that was the wrong thing to do.
- 10:05Speaker 1: And you did it that way and things fell apart.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And you wonder why they fell apart.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Right, that's just an example of how you take it into the take it into the workplace, so the you know.
- 10:14Speaker 1: As you go further down, you know, you see that the younger prophet actually followed through and he went to the man's house and he was struck down and the Lord said you know, because you disobeyed, didn't keep the commandment, you know, your body shall not come home to the tomb of your fathers, right?
- 10:30Speaker 1: So so that you know, kind of ended the lesson.
- 10:33Speaker 1: There was also a lot more, a lot more prophetic things in here, but I wanted to share this and I'm so grateful, I'm so grateful that Karen shared this lesson with me yesterday.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And as we're talking about how titles can become altars, like titles, the way that we want, we expect people to reverence us based on a title, and some of these titles, some of these times of titles, people are making up.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But if you expect people, if you're, if you're Responding in revenge, so on the job if you're, if you're treating people like they're beneath you because you're a supervisor, that's an altar that you built and that's only gonna end up burning you.
- 11:17Speaker 1: If you're, if you're talking down to people because you're a CEO, if you're, you know, if you're doing these things, if you're setting up these altar where you're literally just Worshiping the title that comes to you Right, eventually that's gonna take you down.
- 11:34Speaker 1: So this lesson about you know listening if God gives you an assignment, I don't care if you.
- 11:40Speaker 1: If he called you yesterday and he said you go for, and he didn't give that, he's giving it to you.
- 11:48Speaker 1: He's not giving it to the person who's been at it for 30, 40 years, he's giving it to you.
- 11:52Speaker 1: You need to be obedient in what he called you do.
- 11:54Speaker 1: If you have, if you have any situation.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Look at anyone, anyone, and I I get.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I, you know I don't get this challenge much anymore because I think people you know recognize right.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But if someone says you know how long have you been?
- 12:08Speaker 1: You know ministering, I'm not.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I don't consider myself Ministering.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I just consider myself sharing what's what God puts on my heart and I'm just being obedient.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I'm telling you what he says.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But I'm not anointed by a church, nor do I need to be.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I Wasn't called by a church.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I was called by God.
- 12:25Speaker 1: There's a difference.
- 12:26Speaker 1: There's a difference.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Titles mean nothing to me.
- 12:29Speaker 1: If you, if you don't have a, the, the demonstrated power of the Holy Spirit in your life, it means nothing.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You could be, you could call yourself whatever you want and a lot of people are but they end up hurting others who come along, who carry even greater anointing than themselves.
- 12:43Speaker 1: And if you're one of those who've been asked to do some things, to be encouraging, to give hope, to use your gifts to, you know, put a smile on somebody's face, to pray for your coworkers, pray for your enemies, pray for your friends, right?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Don't let other people who've been around, who have helped produce zero fruit, don't let other people come around and and convince you not to do that.
- 13:05Speaker 1: If you're that person in your family who's expected to work with the Lord to break these chains and things in your family and, you know, break off some of these Perpetual curses in your lives, don't let other people who've been around for 20, 30 years, who have zero, have zero fruit, convince you otherwise.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Do what the Lord tells you to do.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Be obedient to him.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Don't worry about these people, okay, so that is.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That is today's lesson.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Titles or authors.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I, you know.
- 13:34Speaker 1: I just wanted to.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I share as I'm learning.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I'm sharing it with you.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I hope that this blesses you and we're just gonna close it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Prayer.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Lord, we're just thank you for all these amazing lessons that you provided in your word and we thank you, lord, for what you call us.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Lord.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I, as always, I want to respond to the name that you call me.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I want to be the person that you created.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I want to walk in that purpose, regardless of what anyone else, with any title, will say.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Lord, we just want to be obedient to your call.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Find, tune our ears so that we can hear you even in the midst of situations where others with larger titles might tell us otherwise, because, at the end of the day, lord, we just want to serve you, and all of these things will be added onto us.
- 14:19Speaker 1: We thank you, lord.
- 14:20Speaker 1: I pray for everyone who stands in need of anything today that you bless their heart and the God and provide for them, as only you know what they need.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We thank you for this broadcast.
- 14:30Speaker 1: We pray over everyone who's listening live or replaying, wherever they are in this world, and we just continue to lift up your name.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Amen, all right, y'all.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I am here every Thursday on this same back channel, from wherever you're watching on Radek Live, facebook, linkedin, twitter, wherever you are, and I'm just grateful for all of you.
- 14:51Speaker 1: So have a great rest of the week.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Bye, and yeah, let's say in our next episode of Dr.
