- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, welcome to M&CB NFL podcast, that's Albert Brear.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm conical if you're taping on Wednesday morning.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_01]: September 10th gives you no why.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: Quite possibly the best game of the weekend is on Thursday, September 11th.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so if we're going to do an all-encompassing weekend preview, we would be remiss to leave out the Packers in the Commanders which overnight.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this was a good game.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: It was a good game when I looked at the schedule.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is one that Jeff Bezos two years ago snuck into a meeting, and he just yanked out of there from NBC or someone else.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the difference now is that this went from a good game to an excellent game for a couple of reasons.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Mike Parsons has something to do with this.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I also think this is the first of a couple proving ground games for the Washington Commanders, and that gets me very excited.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that the commanders, and we'll get into this in a minute, but I thought that the commanders looked, okay, I mean, they still put up almost 400 yards of offense in week one.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't look exactly the way that I wanted to, but now they're going to have to get into their offense, which I think is going to be really interesting.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see all that.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about it in a second.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: The one bit of news, Albert, there's two little things, right?
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: The equals traded for tank bigsby, which I mean,
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: Depending on how you want to look at this, they listed him as a kick returner, which means that they're, I think, looking for a little bit of help in that area outside of running back, but if you're going to, if you're going to run that offense, I think that we saw the AJ Dylan experiment on, on the, on the, season opener didn't really look great, and then you have will ship Lee there.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Any kind of,
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: additional help in that backfield is probably yeah, I mean, I do I don't know.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: I am interested to see a little bit more of will ship Lee just because Me too.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: You heard great things about him during camp.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean like and I I think like in a way like if you want to mirror what say Juan brings to the table.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not saying ship Lee as well as say Juan so don't clip this Shelby.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like I'm not doing it but
- 2:13[SPEAKER_02]: But there are the three down element to his game, right?
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like the fact that he does have passing game value does mirror like what Sake Juan does to some degree, you know?
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: And so it allows you to mix and match a little bit.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I mean, look like Sake Juan had a historic year last year.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we all have to remember that he does have some injury history.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: So anything you can do to preserve, say, Juan, so you have him at the highest level you possibly can.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: You're doing the best you can to try to avoid any sort of extra injury risk.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think is a good thing.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I remember talking about talking about Jerry Reese, the old Giants General Manager about the day.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I, I asked them about how they would continually draft offensive linemen and you remember this, Connor, when they drafted JPP, I, they already had on their roster, just in talk, OCU, and your Matthias Kiwanuka, and when they drafted Matthias Kiwanuka, they already had Michael Strahan, OCU, and your and Justin Tucker on the roster, right?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: And so like,
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people would look at that and say, well, why do you do that?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: And Jerry Reese's point was, the identity of our team runs the defensive line, the identity of our team runs through the past rush.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: So if we don't have that, we have nothing.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: So if we lose a player or two along the way,
- 3:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, then the identity of our team goes away, so we need to keep feeding the identity of our team.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I think that that was, for to me at least, it was something that I really kind of filed away.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: This is probably 15 years ago that he said this to me, but I kind of filed that away.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: I thought it was such an interesting point.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: And, like, so like, when I, when you see teams, like, continue to feed their strength, I think that's sort of the idea.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: And to me, that's what this is,
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like having a backup quarter back that has the same skill set as your starter.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to change who you are if you're missing a guy for a couple weeks.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's effectively what this does feel bad for.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we'll ship please banged up too.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: But one story that stuck with me during the Super Bowl was talking to a few Eagles reporters and them talking about the absolute exhaustion of we'll ship
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: not only are all the reporters trying to talk to say quambarkly, so they're in your locker, because we'll ship these lockers next to say quambarklies.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: But anytime someone needs a quote about say quambarkly and say quambarkly isn't in the locker room, you just ask the other guy, that's the running back.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I forget who it was that told me that, but by the end of the season, this reporter just looked at him and he's like, can just one more time and he was just like,
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: like deep sigh like, oh, fine.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, I, all right.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why, so I got on Sake Juan when we'll ship Lee scored at the end of the season in the scrub game.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sake Juan Barclay ran on the field and carried him off the field.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I had a very visor reaction to that because I was like, this guy has spent all year just doing everything in service of you.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: Just let him come up with his own end zone celebration.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go in there and ruin it for him.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I've always had like a little soft spot in my heart for Will Shipley.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Here's hoping he gets more involved this year.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: The other bit of news out before we get into the full weekend preview is Eagles related and it's that Jalen Carter essentially just got to find a full game check for that.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm treating like everybody that I've talked about this, his sort of position it as
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: They're treating it as if he was already suspended.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: If that makes sense, you know, time served.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, I like I this is this sort of does make sense to me, you know, that he already missed a full game.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't play a down in that game and.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: The fine, like if you compare it to other finds, that is a hefty fine.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, generally, when guys do things on the field, the finds will be, I don't know, 10, 15, 20,000 if they're really egregious and so, you know, the fact that like they find them a full game check, I think reflects the fact that they're looking at this as, all right, like you already missed an entire game, we're going to give you time served on that and take a game check away from you.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the ultra cynical take here, is that, and really, I mean, Roger Gidell could not have planned this any more perfect because he wants there to be a point of emphasis, and he got to kick jail and Carter out before the first snap, but then gets to reinstate him before chief Seagulls, the Super Bowl rematch this weekend, and I'm wondering if there was even a
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: My new thought in anyone's mind to keep Jalen Carter suspended for what will be the other biggest game of the weekend America's game of the week, you know
- 7:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I mean, he's, I mean, I'm assuming, I don't know for sure.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm assuming it's Berkarten Brady on that one.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_02]: So he says, so I mean, if you want to be cynical about it, like he says, Berkarten Brady from having to address the spitting thing too much, right?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because if all of a sudden you have like Isaiah Pacheco running down Main Street over the first like couple of drives in jail and Carter isn't there, and the Eagles aren't getting a pass rush on my homes.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: then what's the first thing that everybody's going to want to talk about?
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, like jail and cargo really cost his team here and now the spitting in it incident has new life, right?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like and there's nothing Roger wants more than to not tell he doesn't he doesn't there's nothing Roger wants more than to bury these sorts of things.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it's I mean yeah I I
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: After doing a lot of reporting on Roger Cadello over the last two months, I would say that you could never be too cynical about those things.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: he is always thinking about ball.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into it, 815 Thursday, September 11th, Commanders, and Packers.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: This game is, I don't know, I'm as excited about this.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, Eagle's Chiefs is an obvious one in this slate.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: Falcons and Vikings, all of a sudden, I think.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Really, absolutely.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: After what we saw on,
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: after what we saw from JJ McCartney and we can get into that a little bit later in the episode.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: That was a double header is kind of interesting now, too.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: The Monday night double header is good.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Bucking years in Texans is highly consequentials.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Chargers' raiders, let's see if I'm awake for that one.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not optimistic about my ability to stay up for a 10pm kickoff.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: I would say like,
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: It gives me a better chance to make it through a game one.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I wouldn't count on my, me having my faculties for even the kickoff of game two.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: You'd have to really, I mean, I'd have to really get jacked up from the first game, and then not be able to not be able to come back down.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's sort of my plan.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think that Micah Parsons, I mean, it's obvious to say that he's a secret ingredient, but here's why I think it's even more so true.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Absolute Carter only played about half of the snaps in week one, and it was moved around a little bit, and there were times in that game where I thought, and this ended up kind of breaking loose and actually right after I tweeted it.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, Cave on Tibito, when they were on the field together, they were discipline and they were creating rush lanes.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: They were giving Jaden Daniels some problems, not enough, not nearly enough problems, but some problems.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then all of a sudden, I think all hell broke loose Jaden Daniels, broke contained, got loose, and you know, whatever, had a long run there and I think everything kind of fell apart after that moment.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now you have Mike Parsons coming in.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's got another week of practice.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Haffley did such a good job disguising everything against the Detroit lines and flimics one of the best offenses in football.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is a real test and I think this is not only where we see where the packers are at, but what really are the commanders?
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: Because at this point the giants are looking a little bit like Tarleton State to open up the season and I hate to say that but like this is not a
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a bad football team, right?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_02]: That's like the curse of the first month of the season.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like things can deceive you a little bit.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm not really sure what to make of what.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: And like I think I've been doing this for long enough and you too, like where, you know, you look at some team getting blown out at the beginning of the season and then you think a lot of the team that blew them out and then within three weeks it's like, oh, that team wasn't very good.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: Or there are like the simple aberrations, you know, so I don't know how much we really know about the commanders yet.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would say they felt really good about their offensive line.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: They felt like that was like one of the areas where they would have the most improvement coming out of training camp.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: With the two new tackles with Jeremy Tonsol and their first round pick right tackle Josh Connerley.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, then of course, you know, you have Brandon Coleman who played some left tackle for them last year, moving inside.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I would just caution you to assume like that's the giant's rush being anemic.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like the giant's rush might be really good and Washington might be really improved on the offensive line.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: That could be one of those things in week one.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: That seems like one thing, but called wind up being something else.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: Does that make sense?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, for me and to flip it to the other side.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: What was amazing about Jordan love in that first game was how in control he felt and again, right?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: We always have for 180 yards, but he yeah, he had command he had command and it's sort of like I mean
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: reminded me of Daniel Jones in a way.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I talk to, I talk to some people out there in in indie this week, and we can get into that, too.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: But there was kind of a purposeful here's some more stuff on your plate, and you get comfortable with it, and let's see what you do with it.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: And that yielded some confidence.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering if Jordan love kind of got the same directive here, where it's like
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: You have to see this.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't about Matt LaFlorcing this.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is about you seeing it.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: This is about you putting it into action.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: And this is about you checking things, moving protections.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I really felt like he was as comfortable and is, and in the Jordan love erratic thing, I think, is a bit of a, it's a false association.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: But he looked good.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like just, from start to finish, I'm curious if Dan was in challenge him at all.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was like one of their real like points of emphasis with him was that they wanted him to be more vocal Yeah, and I know like for Jordan personally like for him like he wanted that to come organically But they pushed him to be a little bit more vocal this year and take more control of the offense and make the offense his own And I think this is one of the things that Matt LaFlor has done really well, you know, like is he made the offense Remember all those questions when he got there in 19 like about
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: the marriage with Rogers and Rogers likes having a lot of control and, you know, the guys from the Shanahan system normally like to kind of like play the video game with their quarterback where they've got the joy stick.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: And the floor to his credit, like wound up, like building a hybrid, like all the motions and all that different stuff, like there was almost none of it, like, you know, his first, their, their, their three years together there, and one of
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: was because Aaron said to Matt like no like I mean it's kind of like the the the paid manning thing you know paid manning always wanted his skill players to be static because he wanted to make the defense and then he would put them in motion because he wanted to he wanted to like get a good look at the defense he didn't want to be doing all this different stuff
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't want to have all his different stuff going on with the offense before it's now he wanted to be looking at the defense and that's like a really advanced level of quarterbacking, you know, and then if he needed to see something he could he could move guys around on his own so he could get his indicators and so Matt let
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: Matt let Aaron do that a ton.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_02]: The three years they were together because and Matt made this point to me a bunch of times like you know it like why would I take this guy who's one of the grace quarterbacks of all time and just shove my office down his throat.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: That makes no sense.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then you know like Aaron moves on and he all right we're going to go back to doing things
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: the way we've always done them and we're going to put in like an offense that's more like where my roots are and so you know they're doing all of the movement and the motions that help you on quarterback and you know they they they they they they they sort of put the training wheels back on the offense and now they're getting back to the point where they can give the quarterback a little bit more ownership of it so I think that's one of the things that LaFlor
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: doing what like leaning in to where his quarterback is at developed mentally.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_02]: He had to begin with a quarterback who was so far off the charts development.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you came and used that word with Aaron Rodgers by the time.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_02]: He got him.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, like now he's working with this guy that he's developed on his own for three years, right?
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: And okay, like now we're going to put the training wheels back on.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_02]: And now you see the training wheels coming off.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I just
- 16:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's a good example of, I use this term last night on TV in New England when we were talking about Drake May.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's incumbent now on coaches because these quarterbacks come from so many different backgrounds, so many different types of offences.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's incumbent on the coaches to meet a quarterback where he's at.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I think LeFluer has been masterful in his, God, I feel, now, seven years.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's been the Packers Coach for seven years.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then his seven years, I think Matt has been masterful at meeting his quarterback worries at football is back and underdog is the place to make picks and win money all season long.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: Playing on underdog is easy, just pick whether your favorite players will go higher or lower on stats like touchdowns or saving yards, interceptions and more.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's fun, it's simple, it's easy and weak too.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_02]: I like the idea of going
- 17:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm the higher end with Joe Burrow when it comes to touchdown pass is coming back with the bangles against the Jaguars after a lackluster week one for this is not the offense against the Browns and I like Mike a Parsons to go higher on sacks against Washington I think Green Bay is going to have a little something cooked up for the commanders with their new defensive start.

- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get into it Albert.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: We have just a couple of quick thoughts on the slate here coming up.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: And we start with Jacksonville and Cincinnati, the Jaguars travel, they leave the jungle and travel up to the... Well, to travel the other jungle.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: To the other jungle.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: But like, because they're both cats, this is a battle between two jungle cats, kind of an underrated part of this.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: But I would pay money to what disafight between a Jaguar
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: See, all right, would you pay permission for that?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_01]: I, yeah, but hold on a second.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is, see, this is the one thing.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: May I think the tiger would win.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: Just to be just to put that on the record, I do think the tiger would win.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: Because Jaguar's aren't as big.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: Tigers are big, right?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is,
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to use AI.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to use AI, okay.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: AI is very firm on this.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: AI has a hot take.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go to Reddit.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a big fan of humans.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wrong report 2886, two years ago, addressed this.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, but a tiger is physically stronger than a Jaguar.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, it is the strongest cat in the world.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: And it's raw strength is superior to that of a Jaguar, but I respect
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is nice, and then someone said you're 100% correct.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: A Jaguar is not stronger than a tiger.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: Pound for pound to Jaguar may be stronger, but then again, a hundred pound woman who can lift 200 pounds is pound for pound stronger than a man who weighs 200 pounds, but can lift 350 pounds.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we'll get in a little bit into the weeds here, but I think you get the idea.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: This is a perfect example of,
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: week one confusion right because you remember last year what offense were we talking about absolutely raving about after two weeks of the season especially the first week of the season during the warland Saints right and then I call my god they blew out the carolite of it there's well I got news for you that there's ended up being the worst defense in NFL history and the same inspired everybody and yeah the Saints fired everybody so now we have the Jaguars
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: that they have fixed their run game so much so that they try to tank pigs because I thought it's kind of interesting.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was a weird move like we got it.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need any of these guys anymore, but this game and then we had the Bengals who had this absolute head scratcher of a game against the Browns team that was probably a little bit better than we thought.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're gaging all of our estimates.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to figure out where we're all at here.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think we probably all like underrated them a little bit.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: They a lot of injuries last year and they dealt with a lot of stuff last year and that's out of the ball.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: But generally since Jim Schwartz has been there, they've been really, really good.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe we shouldn't be as surprised as we were that King played out the way they did.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: true.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: For me, I'm wondering, and is it too early to wonder?
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: We had now that you're facing a offense like Cincinnati's.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think I actually did a good job, even if it's
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: even if you have now like two guys who can possibly catch a pass at the tight end position with no a fan added to the folder and I think it was one catch for you right with with just seconds like no I think that they're at least they're at least adding.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: little layers to this, but I'm wondering, is this the Travis Hunter we now?
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: Because you have four five quality past catchers, do you think that this is the week that we ramp it up and we do more than a half dozen snaps on defense?
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you think we're still trying to figure out how to get this guy off?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: The main of it.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: The idea is still so,
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: If the idea is, he's your nickel, and he's going to come in and he's going to play in sub-back.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of it is going to probably ride on how many obvious passing situations you're in, right?
- 22:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like in how big it looks spread you out.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: And like you said, like if they're going in more too tight and sets, then that would usually mean that you would see less of the third corner, right?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's all sort of dependent on how the game goes and how the Bengals play it.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: And again, like, you know, there's a chance that that maybe Liam Cohen and Anthony Campanelli, like maybe there's a chance that those guys play it as like, no, we're going to dictate to you and they rotate them in some.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: But if they allow, like, the offensive formation, the down and distance to dictate to them, there's a chance we don't see a ton of him on defense this week either.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm wondering, um, because I went back and I was a little bit cynical about Travis Hunter week one and then, uh, because I watched the game in real time and then I went back and I watched, um, the old 22 and I will say that when he moved,
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: the entire defense it was almost like a wave went through the defense like everybody's okay where is this guy and what is he doing and I thought even the way that and this is a difference between Liam Cohen and I think Doug Peterson and Urban Meyer before that no offense Albert but like the
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I didn't want one up there from him.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: I got that's right there right over there.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: You guys see that.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_02]: That's a ticket to the National Championship game.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: He will ever take a lot Oregon a little 2014 up there.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, Arbor.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: For ever be Albert's old ball coach.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but there was a there was a handoff to ETN that I remember and just the way that Travis Hunter ran a route.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: It just completely rerouted.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: someone who would have tackled E.T.N on the second level and probably got him like an extra two or three yards.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome on Liam Cohen's part.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's also, I think, part and parcel to the respect that people are showing Travis Hunter.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I, I, I walked away from the second watch a little bit more impressed, but to me, that's something campanelli did a great job in week one.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Again, against the
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: Olikun for example had I think probably the best game of his career like these guys were flying around They looked a little bit looser.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: They looked a little bit freer.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think if the bangles run into that team They lose this game, but again, what is that team?
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's what we're here to do.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: I think I Think we're gonna see the bangles Like flip a switch now.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: I hope so.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a series of very confident group.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think
- 24:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think in the long run, what the offense went through last week is probably good for everybody.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to light a fire under Joe.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: I think Joe is going to be pissed this week about what about the lack of output in the second half against Cleveland.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think like it's, they we talked about this on the show on Monday, right, Connor?
- 25:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's a good rep for the defense, isn't it?
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: Good wrap for the defense.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's why you have to go through like that second half where the offense isn't given you much.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's probably not going to happen a lot, right?
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: Like, but in this situation, you get the experience of having to, they had to carry the game in a certain way and they had to get stops.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying it was perfect, but, and of course, the opponents, the opponent, but
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do think like having that experience and going through that is a good experience for that defense to have.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the fact that Troy Hendrickson made a huge play down the stretch with his sack.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think she marched to it was right there on that play.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_02]: DJ Turner has the pick to finish it.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: Like I just think that there's there's good experience there.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think we could see the Bengals flip a swatch this week.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: no doubt.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let's pivot to the giants and the cowboys.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I did some reporting after week one and not not bragging or anything.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: This is just what we're here to do Albert.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the one job.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: way to go, way to do what we've had you to do, so here's the one thing that really surprised to me and I want to see your head explode when I read you this step, but this is something that someone put across my desk when I was making some calls after week one, on non, or on called runs.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, from Philly against Dallas.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: So non-Jailant, you take Jailant-Hard scrambles out.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: Uncalled runs.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is where the Jailant-Hard's called runs, too.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then the Jailant-Hard's called runs.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's point.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: 2.9 yards per carry.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_02]: Really the cowboys defensive line and so and if you go back and you watch that game Because jail and really hurt them off schedule jail and was like really smart about yes That was like one of the things I was most impressed with was how hurts picked his spots
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a really intelligent way in that game, you know what I mean?
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard running the ball.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that he will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever get the credit.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: He deserves for being a point guard.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: And for just making it look as effortless as he does.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that there's a lot to that.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm glad you said that because I've kind of got religion on that now.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like where I.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: Me too like watching him like it's funny because it kind of relates to a conversation I had with Greg Roman over the weekend about what they're trying to do with Herbert, you know, and we'll get to the chargers, but One thing that they're trying to coach Justin Herbert to run more, you know, and I I thought that was it was it was so interesting because Greg Roman made this point to me.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, it totally demoralizes a defense and he said it was so satisfying for us to do that to the chiefs
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: because how frustrating has it been for all of us in the AFC West where you cover it well, you get a good rush and oh yeah, here comes Patrick Mahomes to rip off five yards and move the sticks.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: It was the moralizing thing in the world for deepens because it's like you did every and I I sort of like like started to view like that like I just like I we again if we were we had just seen the Eagles game and it related to that came to where how to moralizing must have been for the Cowboys to go through that where over and over and over again they're doing they're in their own fits they're they're covering well.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're generating a rush and Jill and hers just picked up six yards and it's first down again.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's the most moralizing thing and so I know we were talking about the cowboys there, but it had to be, I mean, and I've gotten way off track and out of the rundown, but like I do think that that was one thing that had to be really frustrating for the cowboys, because they did a lot of other things right.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: So here's, and so when I went back and I watched the Cowboys and here's what's frustrating to me, you know, you, you, and it wasn't all, it wasn't a lot, Kenny Clark, it was like Solomon Thomas and Jay Toya, like their seventh round pick out of UCLA that we're, that we're really doing a lot of the heavy lifting here in Clark will get there, right, I mean, he's going to get baked into the scheme here, but this was already a pretty good.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: run defense like you you kind of did a lot of the heavy lifting fixing that problem and so that's why i mean and i'm not going to bring up the mic Parsons narrative again that oh we traded them so be fixed the run game you didn't really need to trade him to fix the run game because you did a pretty good job again Like that personal department's good and then you could use that additional past rushed it I mean to get it for you wanted that we can just be honest about this they got sick of them you know what I mean like you got sick of them There's a lot of drama over the summer they started asking big picture questions
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like, was there a benefit to shoring up the run defense?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, was Micah Parsons a problem against the run at times?
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but they did offer them a massive contract.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's just when the negotiation fell through, they started to ask big picture questions about, is this right for our locker room?
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: Are we a player away?
- 30:34[SPEAKER_02]: Can we afford to put pay this player when we've already paid two other guys at the top of the market?
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a business decision, right?
- 30:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why people can't accept that.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's really what it was.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: It was a business decision.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think like trading Mike a Parsons makes them better in the here in the now.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_02]: No, do I think it's possible it could be better for it in three or four years.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I do, you know, like I think it took
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: It took some like real perspective for Wilma Clay and Steven Jones and ultimately Jerry getting on board with it.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: It took some like real like big picture thinking like let's just not look at this as like what's going to help us win a game on Thursday night against the Eagles, but look at this for the direction of the franchise and where we're going under Brian Schott and
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: Did it make a better than the year now?
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, it did.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: No, I mean, we know what Mike Aparsis is capable of, but like could it wind up having a good effect in the long term?
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's definitely possible.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: In the Giants front, I mean, God, I feel for Brian Dable, and this is kind of what we expected, but like, here's what he can't say.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: Albert is like, I'm not putting Jackson Darden until Andrew Thomas' healthy because that kid is going to get destroyed back there.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is the worst offensive line in the NFL.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Even if it's Dallas and the past rush was actually pretty good.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Hertz is actually one of the most pressured quarterbacks in week one.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: But even the fact that there is no like it's Dante
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: even that is too much for the giant's offensive line right now.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: It just is.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm wondering if they try to slow the game down here a little bit.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Can we see Cam's Scadabo on early downs and just like try to elongate the game in some way shape of form is that even possible.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: Because we talked about this cowboy's run defense went nose to nose with the freaking Eagles offensive line.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: Last week, you know, like, this thing is, yeah, so, so this to me, the argument you're making on Jackson Dart is like, I think you have to let Russell Wilson, it's going to sound bad the way I say it, but like, I think you have to let Russell Wilson take the hits, so Jackson Dart doesn't have to, so you're not affecting his development, you know what I mean?
- 33:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like, so, I think again, like, this
- 33:07[SPEAKER_02]: But I think you have to look at like what's best for the development of my young quarterback, you know, and is it is it going out there and playing?
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: Is it getting his clock all messed up, because he isn't getting a chance to sit back there and read a defense?
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: Like to me, what I would have to do, I think I think before the Jackson-Dark conversation can become real, of course, I think you got to give Russell Wilson another chance to to go out there and look a lot better than he did on Sunday because it was not good.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_02]: But I think I'd also, if I were them, want to get Andrew Thomas back, and then I want to see Andrew Thomas with the offensive line for a week or two, at least before I'd even consider it, because I think that that piece of it is so important.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: And we can go back over the history of it, right?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of these young quarterbacks,
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: that had successful really early in their careers, actually had a really good tackle situation.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's an underrated thing, but if you look at it like Mahalms, his MVP year in 2018 was with Eric Fisher at Love Tackle and Mitchell Swords at Wright Tackle.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: Lamar Jackson, his MVP year of 2019 was with
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: Um, was with, you know, Ronnie Stanley at left tackle in Orlando Brown at right tackle.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of these guys who have successfully in their careers, Josh Allen had D on Dawkins from the start, who we got to grow up with.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of these guys who had successfully in their careers had really good tackle situations.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like even Andrew luck if you want to go all the way back there, that team was a dumpster fire all over the place, right?
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: But he had Anthony Castanzo at left tackle.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: So like I think that that's like an underrated thing and I would want to see what the offensive look line looks like with Andrew Thomas at left tackle and what a luminore looks like at right tackle you know what those two guys look like together for a week or two before I would consider putting dart out there.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, I mean, I just don't know, this team is out of options.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: And we said the same thing a little bit with Kobe percent last year.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then Drake may eventually had to come in and take his lumps and it got to the point where, you know, the human meat shield thing only lasts for so long.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we'll get there with Jackson Dart, but, uh, I mean,
- 35:24[SPEAKER_02]: right now this team just needs to find something I'm I will say this they think he's ready like they feel comfortable putting him in a game sure and he wouldn't be getting a jersey a game day if they if they felt like if they felt like he wasn't ready to enter a game or play significant snaps and they would have made james the backup the james played a lot so like just the act of now is one thing if you don't have another option at the position
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if you're in a situation where it's like there's like a practice squad level player and you have to make your rookie the backup that's not what this is they had an option was a guy who's you're playing a lot of football and they chose to make dark the back up, which I think says a lot about his readiness to go into a game.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: I have to tell you about this game-changing product I used before in Night Out with Drinks.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's called Priyalkahol.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_02]: Zibiotics Priyalkahol Probiotic Drinks is the world's first genetically engineered probiotic.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_02]: It was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_02]: Here's how it works.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: When you drink alcohol gets converted into a toxic fried by product in the gut.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's a build up of this byproduct, not dehydration, this to blame for rough days after drinking.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: Pre-alcohol produces an enzyme to break this byproduct down.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_02]: Just remember to make pre-alcohol your first drink of the night, drink responsibly, and you'll feel your best tomorrow.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: I was a bit on the fence about it, but I'm telling you it works.

- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: The next one is just so exciting to me.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's the Ben Johnson Bowl.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's Chicago and Detroit and listen for a half of football.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Ben Johnson looked exactly like he did in Detroit.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: There was wide open space.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: There was every dropback provided the QB with answers.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the Caleb Williams missed some reads that Ben Johnson had dialed up for him that would have led to even more big plays in the first half.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Probably missed a dagger shot or two, and it was the defense that really failed to close the book on JJ McCarthy.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I'm so I don't know.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm concerned.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_02]: You're concerned about Caleb.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm concerned.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: What I was excited about, that was at the Monday night, was at Monday night that they played the bill or no, was the Sunday night, I can't remember, when they played bills, the bills were preseason.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever night of the week it was, that game, well got me so excited about watching that game was how fast Caleb was playing.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: I still don't think he's playing very fast.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I still think he's holding the ball.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I just, he missed high a bunch, which I like to me is a signal of a young quarterback who isn't really sure of what he's seeing, you know?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: We're like, if you're not really sure and you're not really ripping it, sometimes I think the ball can sail on you a little bit.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you didn't see that like you didn't think he was holding it to like because like that was again, that was what excited me about the preseason game against the bills It's he was going out there and he was ripping it and he was sure of what he was seeing and it looked like he was playing on time And like that was actually what I really liked about JJ in that game was like
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: He was able to compartmentalize everything, but then he came back in the fourth quarter of that game and he was playing fast and on time.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I just, I don't know if I saw that with Caleb.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: Not the way that, I mean, you can't Jared Goff, that's a high bar.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the guys, the guys sees it really fast and he's been in the league for almost a decade.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, it just, it looked like it didn't look like the offense was moving smoothly enough.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought that some a lot of his pocket movement was superfluous, right Caleb Williams, like a lot of it was and we saw there was that one game where Thomas Brown, I think it was Thomas Brown's first game as OC last year, where he just all of a sudden got the ball out in 2.1 seconds, like after a whole year of holding the ball for that.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: like four seconds, and he looked awesome.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that there's a middle ground there because because you have that movability, you can do the Ben Rothsburger thing.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: You can move a little bit if you get more on the back of it, right?
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: Here's the thing, like I think they have to,
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: And this is just my opinion and I would say the same thing like I thought Caleb and Drake may there were there were some similarities in the way that they played this weekend right and what I'm saying with both of them is I don't know the both of them are there so what were they go one two three four and you see like the stripe and the helmet move you know what I mean like yeah I don't think they're there
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: So, look, I think you have to, if you're coaching them, if you're, you know, you're Ben Johnson in Chicago and you're, you're Josh McDaniels in New England, because they're both of them are, um, I just think they're not there yet, right?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like to do what Josh wants, is quarterback to do to do what then wants his quarterback to do.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think you have to be realistic when you're looking at them and empower them with their athleticism.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: And what I mean by that is I think you have to come to a point with these guys where it's like, look, if your first reason out there you have the green light, you know what I mean?
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: So instead of them standing in the back there and patting the ball and holding the ball for three seconds and then panicking and deciding to go,
- 41:18[SPEAKER_02]: like if they just don't aren't seeing it fast enough, they can kind of go, okay, I'm going to go.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and then, and I'm not saying run, but then, you know, you can break the pocket, you can turn it into a scrambled drill.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is what I thought Kansas City and Buffalo did really well early in their careers with my homes and Alan is they used their athleticism to buy them time to develop.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like those guys had the green light to go make a play if they weren't,
- 41:47[SPEAKER_02]: and what that did with both those guys who were obviously enormously physically gifted was it bought those guys time to develop where there wouldn't be these confidence crushing downs where they're holding it back there for three seconds and then they're running around like a chicken with this head cut off.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: trying to avoid the the Russia that got through.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_02]: I just think like there's like this this piece of like I talked about this with a little floor, right?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's meeting your quarterback where he's at.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_02]: And are you if you're if you're coaching Drake mayor, your coaching Caleb Williams, are you giving them enough license to go be an athlete?
- 42:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because I don't think either of them or they are like evidence shows at least right now that neither of them are there yet to play quarterback in that way and that's okay because they both came from I think they both were somewhat raw coming out of college.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_02]: and look in year two for Josh Allen and for Patrick Mahomes.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_02]: Those guys did a lot of the off schedule stuff.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think finding a way to develop them within the offense and get them to do what you want them to do, but still buy while still giving them license to go be an athlete and do that decisively, like not like three seconds in.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm patting the ball.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God, what do I do?
- 43:06[SPEAKER_02]: to like okay like I'm not as sure on this one so I'm just going to go giving them my license to do that.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think can be a really powerful thing and can can actually help to expedite the development because they're not losing their confidence with what's being called.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: on the flip side, we have the Detroit lines, and here's all I'm going to say, Dan Campbell has had a good nose for when to make changes, and he has had a quick look with his coaching staff.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Aubrey Pleasant was in kind of a bigger defensive role at one point, and then he was gone, Anthony Lynn was the offensive coordinator of this team.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: week one, Tanner England looked awesome.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, with the jets and Tanner England was kind of the other body in that room.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: Tanner England's Johnny Montgomery, Johnny Morton, take your pick of these three guys to be the offensive coordinator.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much of a process there was in making that decision because, you know, as soon as Aaron Glenn leaves, Tanner England goes, okay, he knew
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: dang camel and johnny moron go way back, but let's just say that this thing
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't look right again.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's the Ben Johnson Bowl, and it just looks the way that it does.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think, because Dan is such a good coach, but do you think that we begin to just ask questions about that process?
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think, yes, I think it's fair to ask those questions.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_02]: I also think like to hear a point about Dan having a quick hug a couple of years ago with Anthony Lynn and going to Ben Johnson.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if this is the right word for it, but I do think Dan, because he was an ex-player, has this covenant with his players, which is like, I'm responsible for doing whatever is best for you, and I do think that that's part of why he gets such great buying is because all of those players believe that he is doing whatever he feels like is best
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it sounds like a simple thing but not everybody operates that way, you know, and I think Dan has always had a really good feel for that, you know, I, I remember having this conversation with Jared Goff.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, this was two summers ago.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: And I asked Jared Goff about the, um, about Dan's emotional intelligence.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_02]: And Jared's like facelift up.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_02]: And he was like, it's the best I've ever been around.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the guy who was around a pretty emotionally intelligent head coach and Los Angeles, even though it ended badly in, in Sean McVay.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a high bar there.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_02]: I just think like Dan is as good as anybody at like understanding the pulse of his locker I'm understanding the confidence of his players and I don't think he'll let something that's going the wrong way drag on for too long because he knows he'll know how his players feel about it so that doesn't put Johnny Morton on the hot seat but I do think you need to get better results than he got in week one and look like here's the other part of it too Connor
- 46:34[SPEAKER_02]: I talked with that Jerry Rees thing I talked about right like with building, continuing to build the strength of your team.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: So much of the personality of the lions and the identity of the lions over the last few years flowed through what position group.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: The offensive line.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, and they rushed for under 50 yards.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, like when I talked to Jeff halfway after the game on Sunday, the thing he was most proud of was the run defense.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: They held them for, I think, 46 yards.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: And they did it like after losing Kenny Clark.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like losing Kenny Clark less than two weeks before the season started.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_02]: and with just a percentage of micoparsons out there.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: Um, so like that's what I'm watching now.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_02]: It's how does the offensive line bounce back?
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: They paid and promoted to keep Hank Fraley on that staff and Hank Fraley is a really important piece of that staff.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a lot on his plate now, too.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, to be part of the answer here.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and what does that offensive line look like now?
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: What does Tate Ratt, what does Tate Ratt look like?
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: Do they consider at some point moving Tate Ratt Ledge to Center, which was the plan initially, because they're really feeling the loss of Frank Ragnow there?
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: Or do they want the veteran in Graham Glaskow?
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: Who who who who became the center when they moved Ratt?
- 47:52[SPEAKER_02]: There are lots of questions there and I still have the tackles, right?
- 47:55[SPEAKER_02]: So they still have Decker and Suho.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: been so good for them over the years.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_02]: But what does that offensive line look like against the bears defensive front that like I mean for the most part looked pretty good against the Vikings didn't work out in the end but they looked pretty good against the Vikings.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, I don't know.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is I think this has one of those things that we could over narrow to find if that's a word.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know, but I think I just added a word to the camera.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to welcome Miriam Webster.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I think this is one that we will overreact to based on the just based on what's there, but
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Man, a lot on Johnny Morton's plate for sure a lot on Ben Johnson's plate.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean Ben Johnson too I mean and I you know really quick and then we're gonna move on.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think I liked his approach post game Which was to and this is a tough market Chicago's tough market but to face some of the mistakes that he made head on Yeah, there's a challenge that he thought he botched there was not kicking the ball at a balance at the end of that game I think
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: and without throwing his kicker under the boss probably saying I thought he was going to get out of the end zone, right?
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's like he's not one of those guys that is losing the room right now and I think that that's important.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: So Los Angeles and Tennessee, I'll just bring this up because, uh, so camward faced the fourth best defense in the NFL in week one, fourth best overall defense, okay?
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: uh, he was pressured on half of his dropbacks.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, one of the only other defenses that was just as good as Denver in week one, pressured their quarterback on 41.2% of their snaps, negative point 170 PA per play against the past was the Los Angeles ramps.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so you go from one to the other and I would argue Albert that I think
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: that the rams are going to challenge camward in a much different way, and then you have the sort of certainty of Sean McVase offense on the other side.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Bonix was a little erratic and I think that allowed the Titans to stay in that game and to give them hope.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know Sean McVae offers that kind of hope on the back end.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be a tough one.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I would say this, like with the Titans, this is going to be a good test.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like you said, like, for their offensive line and what they did there, and the offseason and trying to put something competent in front of the rookie quarterback, and the same sort of way it was for Houston last week with what the Rams were able to bring on their defensive
- 50:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be a little easier for Cam to find match ups and like I think Cam actually played relatively well considering the circumstances that a bunch of drops, you know, like I just think, you know, when you're throwing to who can throw to who can throwing to their against certain and and moss and those guys like that's a tough as a tough spot to be in.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_02]: And so I could see, if they can block it up and like some of the work that they did in the offensive line shows up, I could see, I could see Cam playing better this week.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: I hope so, because you know, you talk about the Johnny Morton over reaction in week one, I think Brian Callahan's right there, the terms of, you know, kind of getting that heat, but I'm, you know, this is one where we got to see this is a home opener.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: In the shadow of the new stadium that they're building, which I can't under.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can't undersell enough.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is a big deal for the Titans.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: They need this to work.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so we'll see what happens.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: New stadium looks like, I mean, you're probably going to be able to see it behind like over the, uh, the, like on the camera shots, this, this, like this year, right?
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: I agree grown up tapping you in the shoulder and reminding you of all the things that you have to get done.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_01]: New England and Miami, uh, you better be able to fill this place.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_01]: New England in Miami down in Miami.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: The dolphins are actually giving points in this one.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a gambler, but I really like the Patriots here, but that's just based on what I saw in week one.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_02]: Trying not to be a prisoner to that.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_01]: No, they looked at.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: They really did and here's I thought what one of the worst parts about it for me was that you had guys like like Matthew Jude on playing punt team and and I think I mentioned this on the on the recap show but like
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: playing plant team, having not had a special team snap in like 10 years and then committing an egregious penalty.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that there are injuries and there's a lot of stuff that goes into these decisions.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: But Mike McDaniel needs to really kind of rally here into a and this is like you talk about locker rooms that could go sideways in a heartbeat.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_01]: This is a locker room that could go sideways in a heartbeat.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, I want to be clear when I say this, like I think Mike me Daniel's a really good coach, same, but I think you have to ask big picture questions after some of the stuff he saw over the summer, they have a potential head coach and candidate on their staff, you know,
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what this is going to look like going forward, I just, I struggle right now Connor with, what are they really good at?
- 53:32[SPEAKER_02]: Now maybe, maybe you say like the past rush, right?
- 53:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like the defensive front was siler and chop, and you know as long as they're healthy, chub and fill-ups, like there is strength with the past rush, but I don't think they're very
- 53:53[SPEAKER_02]: I guess Tyreek's still Tyreek and you know, I, I, you know, outbursts on the sideline on Sunday, I just don't know at this point, I'm like, I'm kind of at the point, like, what do they do well?
- 54:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what are they really good at?
- 54:05[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I guess you could ask the same question about the Patriots, right?
- 54:08[SPEAKER_02]: Show me how do we go on?
- 54:10[SPEAKER_02]: Um, this is an interesting litness test for both teams, you know, because I feel like if the pages go down there and get beat, now all of a sudden all the good mojo and all the good momentum, like, is really on the ropes in New England because they have Aaron Rogers and the Steelers in week three, where like the dolphins, it feels like they're already on that edge, they're
- 54:38[SPEAKER_02]: really could leave a mark, and you know, I know what Lou and Rumo and the cold did, it's going to be repeated over and over again, which is take to us first read away, get him playing off for a them, and he can't handle it.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: And I think Lou and a lot of ways, through drew a blueprint that's existed before on to a, but if
- 55:04[SPEAKER_02]: If Tyreak isn't the same as he has been, it becomes a lot easier to execute that blueprint than it has been in the past.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: for sure.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, and again, I think we're a few weeks away from him, uh, uh, sontering over to Kansas City and, uh, putting up 135 yards.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_01]: Gaming goes over there for a third round pack and all of a sudden he's the end.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be like a conditional fifth, you know what I mean?
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then, and all of a sudden, we're just going to sit there banging our head against the wall, but it becomes a, and it becomes a fourth when the Chiefs went the freaking Super Bowl.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I will say, though, I think the difference between Miami and New England to me week one was that Miami almost everybody looked worse than you would expect would have expected them to.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: The Patriots and you can tell me if this is unfair, but we had guys like like Kishan Bhutei or even like Harold Landry,
- 55:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like he had an extra step like Harold Landry, I think had like seven or eight pressures in this game.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_01]: So for me, it's like there were guys that you could tell that they brought in or that were there and got better.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think Diggs was fine.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_02]: Diggs was fine coming off of the ACL and his first game I thought like not doesn't look like, you know, Steph Diggs for three years ago.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_02]: Booty, I think is like a really it's been a
- 56:26[SPEAKER_02]: you know, Henderson's going to be a player for them.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like, so you can see, now, like, that that was not a great opener for them.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't think the past version general was great.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_02]: The offensive line wasn't awesome.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: So there are definitely concerns and like, this is why, like, a lot of people internally were tapping the brakes on expectations and saying, like, we're not as far along as you think, but like, yeah, I mean, you can see like, we're,
- 56:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move on to San Francisco and New Orleans.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_01]: This one, I don't know.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_01]: There isn't much for me to say here, except for this.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: And here's what blew my mind during week one.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_01]: Are you ready for this?
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: I dropped this little.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is why I got to read the Power Ancings guys.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just someone blow-veading.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_01]: OK.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes when you have little extra thoughts and little extra things, you drop them in the Power Ancings because they can't go anywhere else.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_01]: watch that game again against the 49ers that they played against the seahawks.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now that Robert Sala is back in town, watch the way that they generated insane pressure in the backfield without going to cover zero.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_01]: They still had help on the back end and they were ripping people apart.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_01]: Those blitzes were violent.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_01]: They were coming from everywhere.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I just you have to say a little prayer for Spencer Rattler this weekend.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I got to say.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I I had the opportunity to talk to Nick Bosa after the game and he said to me something along lines of like Robert Sala is the biggest addition any team could have had this year, like something along those lines.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_02]: And he said to me, he's like, I only, and I was like, well, Nick, you had him for two years, right?
- 58:15[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's like, well, really I only had him for one because I tore my ACL my second year.
- 58:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I didn't really play that year.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, but I didn't have an appreciation then for how much he brought to the table.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_02]: And he was, I was so excited when we got him back because I knew what he was going to bring to the table.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: And it wasn't just like, I
- 58:33[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's the development part of it, like, which was big, but it was like the point that Nick made that was so interesting was he brought up he is so on top of trends across the NFL and he, like, he's almost ready for an answer.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's ready with an answer as new trends come along and he's like, that's going to, that's going to keep us ahead of the competition all of your long.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is a, this is a bad spot for the Saints, you know what I mean?
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think it's a nine-year-old team and maybe it's even Mac Jones a quarterback for San Francisco.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see as the week goes on.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_02]: But this is a really tough spot for the Saints.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think the nine-years have good momentum coming off of week one.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_02]: I really think like,
- 59:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to be stunned if, you know, this is health permitting.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_02]: If McAfrey makes it through, if thyyuk comes along, you know, and I don't think you'll be ready till week nine, week ten, but if thyyuk can give them something real.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_02]: This is a team that is going to be better in week 14, week 15, we seriously presented in week one.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I picked them to miss the playoffs because I know they were concerned about how they were concerned about where their rookies were going to be in the amount of rookies.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like one rookie or the other, they're worried about it.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: It was like the amount of young players they were going to have to play.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I think like the way it looked in week one, caught some people internally, even off guard.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: And if they can build on that, like this team,
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like I could see another Niners Ram's NFC title game if this is where they go.
- 1:00:11[SPEAKER_02]: If this is where they are now and what we saw in week one is real I think the Niners have a chance to really build momentum and be a really really great team Like even like John Lynch made the point to me Over the summer he said one of the coolest things about having a young team He's like is that we're gonna be able to practice all year
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_02]: right and that was a really interesting point.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_02]: He was like, we'll be able, like, he's like, when you've got an older veteran team, you're managing guys in week 14, week 15, week 16.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: So when you got a young team, you could just go out there and play and practice.
- 1:00:43[SPEAKER_02]: He said, we'll be able to do that all year with the team we have.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that that's another interesting point, too.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, again, like, I'm wondering for coming out of September, we're going to look at it as like this sign of organization
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see, that's my guy Spencer Rattler, I'm a rattlesnake, I'm hoping that they can make this thing happen.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_01]: Buffalo at New York, here's my overarching thought in this game.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: If you're the jets so much, and yes, you guys lost to Aaron Rogers in week one, there was so much positivity.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, coming out of this game for the Steelers our mon member was I don't think there was an argument He was the best rookie offensive lineman offensive tackle of week one think one pressure in like all the snaps that he took against the freaking Pittsburgh Steelers right if this team Can just You might not you're not gonna beat the bills probably not But if you can hang on yep
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: and just not erase all of the goodwill that was built up in that game against the Steelers.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's all that matters.
- 1:02:03[SPEAKER_01]: And again,
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: you know, member holding on and having another big game, just in fields getting a couple more of those shot plays down field.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_01]: Having you feel is good about tannerings for in week two as you did week one, just like just just hold serve, hold serve.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that like no team is thinking about this.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: Aaron Glenn wants to beat the breaks off of the bills and they're going to do everything they can.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_01]: But if they can just maintain that,
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you don't know what I mean.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's great.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's it has the look of a team that could be like because they have a chance even without Alievera Tucker, right, which is an unfortunate that they lost him.
- 1:02:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is a team that's got a chance to be really good in the offensive line and really good in the offensive line.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're good at the lines of Scrimmagee of a chance to be in every game, I don't care who you're playing against, you know.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's that it's maintaining the level of play of Justin Field to look really, really decisive and good in week one.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's like sort of that whole idea that people who've been around fields would tell you, he just needs to play.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_02]: He just needs somebody to give him a chance.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_02]: So you continue to build on that.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_02]: the first three weeks really well really the first six weeks of tough because you got
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to Tampa after you play the bills, then you're at the dolphins, which is, I guess, the way up in there, right?
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'll call it lay up, but it's like the easier one of the, then you have the cowboys and you have the Broncos.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_02]: But after that, in a four week stretch, you have the Panthers, the Browns, the Patreus.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_02]: So could you see the team coming out of like the first six games at 105 or two and four, but really in a position then to build some momentum at the end of October and in November?
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that maybe this is a team that when you're built around the run and you have a multifaceted run game, that's by design, right?
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's classic Rex Ryan.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe that's what you're getting back a little bit short in the game, lean into the defense.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: The defense was good under Sala.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like I I think that there's
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think they've got, I do the second most talented team in the EFC East, and I don't think it's close.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like I say, yeah.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's Buffalo, Gap, Jets, Gap, Patriots.
- 1:04:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know, but here's the one thing I'll leave you with the Josh Allen because we've already said a hundred thousand amazing things about them on Monday and on Sunday and in our own personal conversations with our wives and children, if he throws or work combined gets four more touchdowns on Sunday, he is in the top 25 of touchdowns scored all time.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, let me hold on, let me hold it on.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're sitting in this career.
- 1:04:49[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hold on.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_02]: So let me pull this up.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I have this from the, where is it?
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_02]: I got to find the story that I did with McDermott when I talked to Sean a Monday about the game.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, it was legitimately like,
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I didn't catch up with him after the game and I was like legitimately like I still want to talk to you dude That was so unbelievable like I'm gonna write like a an old school like newspaper follow on the game, you know, nice So here were the so I like I I was doing this story and I was looking at some of the numbers and so here on Allen so I think we all know
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_02]: you know end to half situ it's hard to throw the ball in some of these situations because the defense knows you're throwing it so they can play coverage they can pin their ears back right so i think it's fair to say the end of the first half that last drive in that first half where the bill is capable and then the last three drives of the fourth quarter the braven's no the bill's half to throw the ball to win here right so in those situations it can be harder to
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: In those four possessions, Josh Allen was 13 of 17 for 217 in a touchdown.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_02]: And one of the incompletions was a spike to kill the clock.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_02]: So really, 13 of 16 for 217.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: They know he's throwing it.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_02]: Their passersers can put pin their ears back and he is slicing them apart.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: And that's nothing to do with, I mean, to me like that's the ultimate evolution of Josh where it's like holy crap like this, I don't want to say he's on a different level for anybody else because my home is the best quarterback and has been the best quarterback and has earned that with his championships and everything else.
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: But holy crap, how do you defend this guy now?
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, he was just on another level and it's crazy to see what happens when a guy gets that nuclear and just like almost untouchable and that's why like there there is sort of like a beyond physics component of this where and I have to laugh because I love like like AI insights into all the games It's definitely all these all these sites now have like
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, AI insights, I'm like your fantasy football team.
- 1:07:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you pull up on some of these websites like chats versus bills, it's like they give the jets a a five star passing efficiency, like what advantage over the bills this weekend, be just because of like the way that some of these stats work.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's why you can't always just go by.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like you have to watch the game and realize that this is like really glowing for it.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's like the robot short circling.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: I actually don't know if I like it.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then it's like the smoke source coming out of the back of the head.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:46[SPEAKER_01]: It got so amazing.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_01]: I we just we're lucky man.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: We get to watch our channel.
- 1:07:54[SPEAKER_01]: We get to watch our channel again.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: Although, you know, in a one PM CBS window, which like it's going to be so funny that brought like ESPN totally miss the boat and force fed the jets down our throats for eight weeks and prime time.
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_01]: and then misses and is not one time going to have a better and more fun to watch.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be at one o'clock every week, but that's near the owner there.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a couple more games here to look at and again, we're going to do Monday night on Sunday because it's a little bit further away.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_01]: some of these, you know, don't require a lot of explanation, but Seattle and Pittsburgh is interesting to me because Art Smith has Aaron Rogers re-bought in on the power of play action.
- 1:08:36[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about this last week.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that this was just such an incredible,
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_01]: performance for art Smith, for Aaron Rogers, but here's what I think is going to be interesting here.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think this again, it's almost like when is the last time we were excited about a Steelers O.C.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_01]: and put the defense on trial.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_01]: And here's why I think that this is something to look at.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_01]: there were a lot of bread crumbs on this Seattle tape last week where you looked at that and you're like, huh, that's interesting.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like Cooper Cup kept coming out of the back field as running back and all of a sudden this guy's in the shotgun and imagine a player that smart like Cooper Cup being able to see the field like a quarterback and then to go out and to do something and like he rerouted a lot of guys.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_01]: He was doing a lot of like the let me yank out the wiring
- 1:09:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think that this is a big test for the Steelers and I'm interested to see how they respond to this because I'm not writing off this Seattle offense after one bad week.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_02]: no no and I think you know again like it's it's a new offense is very different than what they did last year um you know and I I think again like with some of the transition from a roster standpoint you know you swap out DK Metcalf for for for a group of CUP you know Tyler Lockett's gone um you know like there has been I mean obviously the change of quarterback is a big one
- 1:10:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, settling into what they're going to be like, I would trust Clint Kubeyak, because I think Just knowing him a little bit like I think he's going to Really take like the lessons of New Orleans last year And and and put them to good use and he was West Sam in San Francisco, so he has a good idea of how the how to best get the the most out of him
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if I like it in a spot because I think the Steelers defense comes into this one with a hair across their ass about getting lit up, you know, I don't even know, I don't even know, but I like it.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_01]: I like across your ass.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what that means, actually.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't sound pleasant.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think the Steelers, I think the Steelers defense.
- 1:10:58[SPEAKER_02]: which, by the way, did close out that game with the Ramsey hit, you know, on gear open.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Steelers defense at home.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_02]: They're probably just a little further along right now in the CX offense, and I personally see this as like.
- 1:11:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_02]: I think the C-Ox we're going to be a tough out in this game.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if it's the best spot for the C-Ox coming across the country, 10 o'clock am, body clock game.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_02]: Is that a factor?
- 1:11:28[SPEAKER_02]: Is it not?
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Steelers defense comes into this one with all something to prove.
- 1:11:34[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is another one.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think Seattle is among the NFL's elite teams and I know that that's a kind of crazy take coming off of week one, but yeah, we're going to find out.
- 1:11:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that, you know, going on and two for them is tough, but something tells me that they will.
- 1:11:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Cleveland and Baltimore we can get through this one pretty quick.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_01]: I mean I like the Browns Albert Yeah, they were feisty.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_02]: They were feisty and you want to talk about having a hair across your ass I would guess that John Harbobmar Jackson and Derek Henry are gonna have a big thick one going into this one Is it worse to have bigger hairs across your ass?
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_02]: I would think it's gonna probably be worse, right?
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think or the hair like Is it just a hair that's laying on your
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_01]: But and then that you know what I bet it is I bet it's like a horse thing I bet horses don't like hair on their butt.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's where it came from.
- 1:12:25[SPEAKER_01]: I like Ben Viery is all around the elements all around the on that.
- 1:12:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean when would we as humans have to deal with this right?
- 1:12:36[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I have like my, I like, I, it's just my thought.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_02]: I have my wife actually pointed this out to me like my eyebrows.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes they'll have like one really long hair, which is probably like a sign of age, I don't know.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_02]: But like, so now I'm like kind of like sensitive to it because she like, she like has pointed it out and picked on me of about it.
- 1:12:57[SPEAKER_02]: So when I see it, I like pick it out.
- 1:13:02[SPEAKER_02]: I pull it out, which I think, you know, I think that actually builds character, if you're pulling out your own, you're plucking your own eyebrows that way.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_02]: But maybe like it's that type of thing where the sun don't shine, right?
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like where one, there's a rogue hair back there that's a...
- 1:13:20[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot of control.
- 1:13:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is probably going a little too deep for the end of this topic because I mean it could it could be you know depending on what you're into maybe your favorite podcast that we've done.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know like we could just be exploring new realms here, but as I'm doing a quick Google there are some people that are saying They're like a hair You know what I'm saying like a you know like a rabbit you know what I'm saying like a like a hair HAR Oh an actual hair.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_02]: That reminds me of in college we had a we had we we we my one of my friend had had a couple pet snakes and so he would go to the snake store to buy to buy snake food and so we went there with him once and we may have been under the influence and we saw that they had rabbits there and the rabbits were actually food for
- 1:14:16[SPEAKER_02]: The rabbits were actually food for boa, constrictors, right?
- 1:14:20[SPEAKER_02]: So if you had a pet boa, then it's kind of a grotesque thing, whatever.
- 1:14:26[SPEAKER_02]: So
- 1:14:27[SPEAKER_02]: We bought one of the rabbits and one night we came home from the bars and the rabbit was in his cage like feed up and had just passed away and so we buried him in the front yard of the the the
- 1:14:56[SPEAKER_02]: We, uh, the, the, the epitaph Fred, uh, herelies peeps here today, Gondemaro.
- 1:15:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought I'd speak that story in.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's my buddy Ron, who actually bought the, bought the, who was actually like the, the genius who, my buddy Evan had this pet snakes, my buddy Ron and I were a company Evan to the, to the pet store, where we decided to rescue one.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_02]: We, we, we cut, we caught him a rescue rabbit thought that might impress, yeah, ladies.
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that we were very,
- 1:15:25[SPEAKER_02]: like carrying individual yeah like benevolent you know good with uh and yeah I mean it's a rescue dog was a rescue rabbit we were rescuing the rabbit from um from being eaten by a boa constrictor yeah no I think that makes sense um
- 1:15:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm all over the place.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be little this game.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: And we have one more that I kind of really want to get to.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's kind of a crown jewel game this weekend.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I just don't want to belittle.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's just some games where Baltimore is superior in every aspect of this game.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_01]: And if they should, they should be able to take Joe flack out of the fold immediately.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_01]: They should be able to force them to run the ball.
- 1:16:07[SPEAKER_01]: They should be able to stop the run.
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_02]: like all of this and I read this is a correctional opportunity for a group of marble agreed agreed agreed one thing I will say and I love the Ravens organization for in a lot of ways like they're a model for so many other organizations but I don't I'm not wild about them celebrating their 30th year in Baltimore with Cleveland there
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think that kind of.
- 1:16:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_02]: No, I happened to be in Ohio for one of the years that there were no browns.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I made fun of them for it, but I know how deep that cut people in Cleveland to lose the browns.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:16:49[SPEAKER_02]: I just feel like this is kind of rubbing people's noses in it.
- 1:16:54[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I wasn't wild about that.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_02]: I was just saying that.
- 1:16:57[SPEAKER_02]: I wasn't
- 1:17:02[SPEAKER_02]: to celebrate the 30th anniversary with the team from the city that you took the team from in the house.
- 1:17:09[SPEAKER_01]: That makes sense.
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be different if like Jimmy Hazelm was like a died in the wool cleavender and not like a truck stop magnet from Tennessee that probably couldn't give two wild f's about the this city or anything like that, but I could see it.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_01]: I think if Baker was there,
- 1:17:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's a guy that could get everything everybody stirred up and bring some up and I don't know.
- 1:17:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think this team would have been a lot more fun if Baker had to remain the quarterback anyway.
- 1:17:34[SPEAKER_01]: But next we have Denver and Indianapolis and I think the Lou A&M effect is in full swing.
- 1:17:40[SPEAKER_01]: Did a lot with those safeties like you said challenge two in different ways.
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Can he do it again, Sponix and can Danny Dimes operate an offense in which
- 1:17:49[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the pats are tan effect.
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about that.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's in full swing.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's just going to be nomad the awesome one.
- 1:17:54[SPEAKER_01]: People are just going to not throw it him anymore.
- 1:17:56[SPEAKER_01]: So now you have to come into that game with the expectation that nomad like that that Patrick's decision is taking away whatever part of the field he's in.
- 1:18:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a much better pass rush that Danny Dimes has to deal with.
- 1:18:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be much harder for him to get answers pre-snap like he did against the dolphins last week.
- 1:18:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see what happens here.
- 1:18:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm, I'm, color me interested in the cults, which is not something I would have said a week ago.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just didn't the Bronco's defense is so unique and that like they were maybe the best defense in football last year.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_02]: And now they add strength to the secondary and signage dibaran.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_02]: They add two middle of the field defenders off of one of the best defenses in football over the last few years in drag rain law and tell no Hufanga.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I just think this is a
- 1:18:49[SPEAKER_02]: This is a very difficult spot for the Colts off and it's like we're going to find out a lot about how real what we saw last week against Miami was with Daniel Jones in that group.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_02]: Because I, that defense is going to force you to throw into tight windows that defense is going to force you to identify stuff.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_02]: And that defense, I think's capable of stopping the run, too.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like that Bronco's defense is really, really, really good.
- 1:19:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I think capable of carrying the team through whatever struggles they have on the other side of the ball.
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so I'm fascinated to see what Daniel Jones looks like against the Denver defense.
- 1:19:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then, you know, on the other side, like you said, like, you know, Lou and Arumo and that group have an opportunity to make a statement of their own.
- 1:19:35[SPEAKER_02]: There's bone next bounce back expectations obviously really high for him coming to the year does he bounce back I think that's something will all be pink close tends to All right, let's get to the one that Caroline and Arizona.
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry like like the Arizona is a seven point like the cardinals team that barely beat the Saints is like a seven point favorite in this one So I don't know I mean am I wrong?
- 1:19:59[SPEAKER_01]: You just say like Caroline like you got to get there.
- 1:20:01[SPEAKER_01]: You got to show me something first I I loved
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_01]: Tepic Millen looked great last week, but I mean, something needs to jump off the pace.
- 1:20:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they need to, I'm like, yeah, I'm like, yeah, I'm like, yeah, I think they need to find a way to split the next two.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_02]: They got the Cardinals and the Falcons, so they split the next two, then they got the Patriots and Dolphins after that.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_02]: Those should be winnable games for them.
- 1:20:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's where we find out who they are.
- 1:20:23[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm like, yeah, like, you got to see a little bit more from them, for sure.
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_01]: I really liked what Josh Sweat did last week for the Cardinals.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he ended up being a good ad.
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_01]: Sure curious to see if he gets in the mix here in bothers price young who looked a little bit like pre-benching price young, but but I think that they're like in spurts.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that there was some good moments There was not so good moments.
- 1:20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see if they can kind of streamline that, but that's kind of a game that's going to be outside of my quadbox.
- 1:20:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest.
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Philadelphia in Kansas City.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Here we go.
- 1:20:54[SPEAKER_01]: 425 Tom Brown Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Say quad barcly.
- 1:20:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's all here, and this to me is, you know, like we talked about, thank God, J.L.
- 1:21:06[SPEAKER_01]: and Carter's here.
- 1:21:07[SPEAKER_01]: This to me is the game that we'll see where the chiefs are at and we'll see what Andy reads got and we'll see what Patrick Mahomes has got.
- 1:21:16[SPEAKER_01]: Here's something that I think flew under the radar and fried on Friday.
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_01]: And again, probably could be part and parcel of the fact that it was played in Brazil, but the chiefs came out with no emotion.
- 1:21:28[SPEAKER_01]: That was a flat team coming out of the tunnel.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_01]: And what is the hallmark of every chief team that we've seen that's been successful?
- 1:21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Travis Kelsey bouncing around headbutting people literally shoving his poor elderly coach, you know, and not going to murder the ground.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_01]: They were trying to get the chiefs going.
- 1:21:47[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Mahomes is shouldering guys.
- 1:21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Travis Kelsey was getting in people's faces and screaming at them in that game.
- 1:21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing worked.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_01]: can you get up for a game against the team that just yanked your pants down and uh in your building scooped you in the Super Bowl you know in your building which i think is another piece of it like are you gonna let them pass you again in your building you know pants sucks by the way yeah it does there's like i think that was like uh
- 1:22:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's why I'm telling you a lot of too many old stories in this podcast that was Thursday walk through for us in high school was everybody's wearing shorts and my buddy Brian Shay was the main perpetrator everybody would pant like if you were off off on the sideline during you know a certain rapper whatever you were a danger being pants the point where everybody would because you know like when you're actually wearing football pants you can't pants somebody but that one day during the week when everybody's wearing shorts they could
- 1:22:43[SPEAKER_01]: And you never wanted to be the guy that got pantsed anyway, saying is that pantsing the trend led every boy in my school.
- 1:22:52[SPEAKER_01]: to the conversion from traditional boxers to boxer briefs, which could withstand the rigors of your pants being tugged down.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you got double, if you got double, and boxing went down.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Not a good place to be.
- 1:23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Not talking about a all-time nightmare.
- 1:23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like it's hard to come back from that one for sure.
- 1:23:13[SPEAKER_01]: You don't.
- 1:23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's all I'm going to say about that.
- 1:23:17[SPEAKER_02]: I will say this too.
- 1:23:18[SPEAKER_02]: Like I,
- 1:23:19[SPEAKER_02]: and the category of the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_02]: I would tell you that the pantsing has some pantsing as a tradition that has not gone by the wayside with a new generation.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_02]: We would have that.
- 1:23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Good for them.
- 1:23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just do it responsibly.
- 1:23:35[SPEAKER_01]: Don't torture anybody and have them ruin their lives.
- 1:23:38[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, it's weird because
- 1:23:42[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that they expanded so much energy just trying to get out of the mud against the chargers and they couldn't do it and we forget that this was not a full complement chargers team and yes Justin Herbert thrived, but he thrived because they couldn't run the ball and so
- 1:23:58[SPEAKER_01]: Where does this leave everything?
- 1:24:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, how bad really was that loss for Kansas City?
- 1:24:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we find out likewise though, Philadelphia.
- 1:24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say this.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think that a lot of their win over Dallas was about putting stuff on film that they can use later in the season.
- 1:24:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say keep an eye on Johan Dodson, who I don't think is going to be an insignificant part of that offense anymore.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a good wide receiver.
- 1:24:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think he got broken in this off season.
- 1:24:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think Jalen hurts trust him.
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw the beginning stages of that against Dallas.
- 1:24:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, these are two teams that can't afford to take like a big picture view of things that happen to them in week one.
- 1:24:37[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I'm just really interested to see the chess match.
- 1:24:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think like one of the main things for the chiefs is going to be like,
- 1:24:47[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they got just destroyed up front in the Super Bowl, you know, so I think there's a little bit of a pride factor there for Kansas City for their, for their defensive line for their offensive line because that's where the, the Eagles really took control of the game and all of them.
- 1:25:04[SPEAKER_02]: So that part of it I think is going to be an important piece to watch the other thing like I'm going to be.
- 1:25:11[SPEAKER_02]: watching how much we see of Patrick Mahomes is a runner in this game and I You ran a lot.
- 1:25:16[SPEAKER_02]: He ran a lot.
- 1:25:17[SPEAKER_02]: He read probably it's gonna try to limit that a little bit.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think he ran a lot and it opened in the opener and I don't
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_02]: that's a that was not a great sign for where they are offensively now like because he doesn't want a he runs to throw generally like he's like Ben Roth let's burger that way like Roth let's burger rarely ran to run.
- 1:25:37[SPEAKER_02]: Roth let's burger would run to throw and that's what homes has really been since he came into the NFL.
- 1:25:44[SPEAKER_02]: and he talked it and ran more and the opener than I think he would have liked to have done and Andy Reed would have liked them to have done and so like in those scrambled situations as he on the same page with the guys who were out there obviously you know you lose savior worthy you're not gonna ever actually rise for another few weeks.
- 1:26:04[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, Ken, your Hollywood Browns, your juju smooth shooters, your, your Noah Grace can those guys be as effective in the scramble game, like, I'm going to be looking for that because I think that could wind up being a real key to what the Chief's offense looks like for the next few weeks until they get worthy and, and, and, and, and, and Rice back.
- 1:26:27[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 1:26:27[SPEAKER_01]: And this is going to be.
- 1:26:30[SPEAKER_02]: This is why I'm I'm I'm so I'm so are you gonna like what we got to get like the the picture of your plate going into this one Like even though it's not a night game.
- 1:26:39[SPEAKER_02]: I know I know that seems to reserve reserve for the prime time games, but we're gonna get a picture of your food before the before 425 start.
- 1:26:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm actually trying so the
- 1:26:50[SPEAKER_01]: I my picture my plate for week one was straight up.
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was cake bites in a payday because my meal wasn't that exciting.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: We had we had kind of taken a healthy eating turn in the house and we were eating a lot of cabbage soup, which sounds like depression era, but it's actually better than it sounds.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's like tomato bassers cabbage.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's turkey.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_01]: There's like.
- 1:27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Hot peppers.
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's good solid, but yeah, I think I'm going to really try to get back into the lab here.
- 1:27:18[SPEAKER_01]: Got a good Korean beef recipe last night.
- 1:27:20[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what happened.
- 1:27:21[SPEAKER_02]: We've done the same like the manager of the house here has um, she's really kind of taking up some some healthy recipes.
- 1:27:29[SPEAKER_02]: We had this spaghetti squash lesson or just squash spaghetti.
- 1:27:31[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember.
- 1:27:33[SPEAKER_02]: We had spaghetti squash last night.
- 1:27:34[SPEAKER_02]: It was pretty good.
- 1:27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah, it just depends on how you dress it up.
- 1:27:37[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, vegetables and vegetables still yucky, but we'll see what we can I'm on board with whatever the boss is doing.
- 1:27:43[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, and she is she's she's kind of leaning into that so I'm all about it now got to be Atlanta and Minnesota to close it out.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is a game that I looked at probably a week ago and I was like whatever and now I'm looking at it again I'm saying oh, I don't know for this one.
- 1:28:00[SPEAKER_01]: I am too and so I think
- 1:28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like, JJ McCarthy could throw like four touchdowns in this game.
- 1:28:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this could be, is this the shootout that we, is this the shootout of the weekend, I think so.
- 1:28:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could be, and I think it's a good test for Michael Panics.
- 1:28:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like, everything you heard about Michael Panics is he's so good at processing, he's so good at seeing the field as vision is elite.
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so now it's going to be tested against maybe the most difficult defense to prepare for in the NFL, right, like in the Vikings defense.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_02]: On the other side, I was so impressed with JJ in that I don't know how many quarterbacks would be able to compartmentalize the three quarters that he had in his first start and just slam on the accelerator in the fourth quarter, the way that he did.
- 1:28:50[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 1:28:52[SPEAKER_02]: I talked about him in Caleb, right?
- 1:28:55[SPEAKER_02]: He played so much faster than Caleb, and he was trusting his eyes, his offense, his teammates, so implicitly, and I think that's part of the advantage of being there.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they did some creative stuff with him.
- 1:29:09[SPEAKER_02]: He scored on a design run.
- 1:29:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like I just think like seeing what that looked like when they had to go in attack mode late in that game And the way you was able to bounce back from the pick six and the way you played the first three quarters
- 1:29:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really excited to see if he can build on the momentum.
- 1:29:26[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll see, I mean, I think an underrated part of that, too, is doing it without Derisaw.
- 1:29:31[SPEAKER_02]: And that school had some issues early in that game.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_02]: So there's that part of it, too, is like knowing that your blind side might be a little shaky and still being able to stand in there and rep it, I was really impressed with the way JJ finished that game.
- 1:29:45[SPEAKER_01]: here's the thing I want to see from flow now Blake cashmen is hurt and Harrison Smith also hurt well Harrison Smith it's just been a question mark and we don't really know you know sorry for the misspeak that we don't know what's going on with Harrison's right you're losing your green dot guys
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_01]: who have led the charge of a self called defense.
- 1:30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like prime floor is the coordinator, but those guys are the ones who are making a lot of those decisions.
- 1:30:13[SPEAKER_01]: And we saw them a little less, you know, little less jumpy, a little less on top of it against the bears.
- 1:30:19[SPEAKER_01]: And part of that has been Johnson, but now what do we see against the other team that we don't know?
- 1:30:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I would say like the advantage of that, and I remember when the Ravens kind of went to that sort of system, you know, I think one thing that really helped, of course, is like the defense of players having the earpiece and their helmet, which has been I mean it's been what 17 years now, but I think there was a little bit of an adjustment to that where.
- 1:30:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know, like giving the using the same sort of theory defensively, um, that you use with your quarterback, which is like, if your quarterback is really experienced and has a great base of knowledge, then you're able to use the entire play clock to decipher what the defense is doing.
- 1:31:03[SPEAKER_02]: Same thing goes the other way.
- 1:31:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember Wink Martin Dale putting that in.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_02]: and then emball to more and empowering Eric Weddle.
- 1:31:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that just made them so much more difficult to play against.
- 1:31:12[SPEAKER_02]: That exists too, you know, with Harrison Smith and Blake Rashman.
- 1:31:16[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think that's a point while I'll take in for sure.
- 1:31:20[SPEAKER_01]: We shall see the fact that John for Talos kind of becomes that guy probably right for for for flow is with who he's got out there But you just see how like how many guys can you keep going between and going down and how far down that ladder can you go and maintain that Right effectiveness right and we shall see What a comprehensive preview of it.
- 1:31:42[SPEAKER_01]: I felt good about this one.
- 1:31:43[SPEAKER_01]: This is a clean it's a clean double.
- 1:31:46[SPEAKER_01]: We solved the hair across your ass crisis.
- 1:31:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think
- 1:31:49[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're gonna get a flood of, if you know, everybody got to learn about my pet rabbit of, of like five or six days peeps.
- 1:31:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, our eye peeps as some of the people were here today, Gondemaro.
- 1:32:03[SPEAKER_01]: Here today, Gondemaro.
- 1:32:05[SPEAKER_01]: And that's true for us, but we'll be back.
- 1:32:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna rest up not me because my kids don't do a sleep regression, but we're gonna rest up and power up for
- 1:32:14[SPEAKER_01]: great weekend of NFL football starting on Thursday, and we will see you guys on Monday to recap to preview the double header on Monday night football.
- 1:32:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's all here, like, comment, subscribe, rate, review.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
- 1:32:44[UNKNOWN]: You
