- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and this is Luna. Luna: Hey everyone! Ready for a new episode? I am feeling a bit lost today, Lucas. Lucas: Lost? Well, perfect timing because today we are learning how to ask for directions in Norwegian. Luna: Oh, that is exactly what I need! Last episode we were at the doctor's, now I need to find my way around. Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the most basic question: 'Hvor er...?' That means 'Where is...?'. Luna: Hvor er...? Where is...? Okay, I can remember that. Lucas: Good. So if you want to ask 'Where is the bus station?', you say 'Hvor er busstasjonen?'. Luna: Hvor er busstasjonen? That sounds like 'Where is bus station?'. Lucas: Yes, 'busstasjonen' is 'the bus station'. So 'Hvor er busstasjonen?'. Luna: Hvor er busstasjonen? Hvor er... I think I've got that. Lucas: Now let's learn the directions you might hear in response. First: 'til høyre' — that means 'to the right'. Luna: Til høyre. To the right. Okay. Lucas: And 'til venstre' — 'to the left'. Luna: Til venstre. That one is a bit tricky. Til venstre. Lucas: You are doing great! And one more: 'rett fram' — 'straight ahead'. Luna: Rett fram. Straight ahead. That sounds like 'right forward'. Lucas: Exactly. So now let's put it together. Imagine you are looking for the Fexingo café. Luna: Oh, I'd love to find a café! So I would ask: 'Hvor er kaféen?'. Lucas: Perfect! 'Hvor er kaféen?' And I would answer: 'Til høyre.' Luna: So if you say 'til høyre', I go right. Got it. Let me try asking again. 'Hvor er kaféen?' Lucas: Til venstre. Luna: Til venstre. Okay, left. What about 'rett fram'? Lucas: That would mean you keep going straight. So if you ask 'Hvor er busstasjonen?' and I say 'rett fram', you go straight. Luna: Alright, let's practice a full scenario. I'll ask: 'Hvor er busstasjonen?' Lucas: Rett fram, så til høyre. Luna: Rett fram, så til høyre. Straight ahead, then to the right. That is useful. Lucas: Yes, you can combine them. 'Rett fram, så til venstre' — straight ahead, then left. Luna: Rett fram, så til venstre. Okay. So I think I need to remember: 'Hvor er' for asking, and then 'til høyre', 'til venstre', 'rett fram' for answers. Lucas: You've got it! And to make it stick, let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: 'Hvor er...?' Luna: Hvor er...? Lucas: Til høyre. Luna: Til høyre. Lucas: Til venstre. Luna: Til venstre. Lucas: Rett fram. Luna: Rett fram. Lucas: Excellent! Now, Luna, can you ask me where the library is? 'Hvor er biblioteket?' Luna: Hvor er biblioteket? — like we learned in episode 55. Lucas: Yes! I'm impressed you remember. So my answer: 'Til venstre, så rett fram.' Luna: Til venstre, så rett fram. Left, then straight. I think I can find it now. Lucas: That's the spirit. Remember, practice these phrases and you'll never feel lost in Norway. Luna: Thanks Lucas! And thanks to everyone listening. We'll be back with more Norwegian soon. Lucas: Keep practicing with Fexingo. See you next time! Luna: Ha det bra!
