- 4:39your loved ones. Something nice, something fun,
- 4:42Something exciting. Something waggerific, if that's
- 4:45even a word. It's not.
- 4:46But I just made it up. All right, so we're going to
- 4:49pretend I didn't say that. Because that was just.
- 4:52Silly, and we're going to jump right into this week's episode.
- 4:59I saw a post on Facebook a couple weeks ago and it was it
- 5:07was a post. I can't remember exactly what
- 5:10the topic of it was, but the the mention of a word came up that I
- 5:15thought, you know, I think I've talked about this roughly, at
- 5:19least in several episodes or maybe more than just several
- 5:23episodes. I've know I've mentioned this
- 5:25particular word that I want to talk about today in other
- 5:29episodes, and I may have even done an episode like, you know,
- 5:32a couple of seasons ago. But I thought, why not revisit
- 5:37this topic and and talk about some things that I've learned
- 5:40since? Maybe even talking about this
- 5:43word on a on a podcast, and that word I am talking about is an
- 5:48old English word. I am not a old English speaker.
- 5:54I am a new English speaker. I'm not an English speaker and
- 5:57so I don't know all of the rules of the language in terms of what
- 6:01letter is emphasized, pronounced, but the word is
- 6:05gefrain GEFR. AINI don't think the G is comes
- 6:14across so hard. Don't.
- 6:15Think it's like gefrain. I think it's more of a softer G
- 6:18or or more or more of like a. An akhlaut.
- 6:22It's kind of sound to the G So yefrain Efrain, I don't.
- 6:25I don't know if if you're if you're native or not native, but
- 6:28if you're if you're a. Student of Old English and you
- 6:29know the correct pronunciation. Feel free to either write in
- 6:35call in comment down below. If you're watching this on the
- 6:37podcast, let me know. But yefrain.
- 6:41So for the sake of of everybody listening and watching, we'll
- 6:44just say that it's yefrain what kind of a soft yefrain?
- 6:48So anyway, this word yefrain I've wanted to talk about it on
- 6:53this. Week's episode and talk about
- 6:56some of the things that I've learned since researching a
- 6:59little bit more into this word and and and some other things
- 7:02surrounding this word and why it is an important thing or isn't
- 7:05an important thing amongst heathens.
- 7:10Now this particular word may not come up a lot in some of like
- 7:14the Norse true type heathen circles or groups.
- 7:22You'll probably hear more discussion around this
- 7:27particular topic or this particular word amongst.
- 7:33Some of the more like old ways practicing heathens Saxon
- 7:36heathens, Anglo-Saxon heathens foreign C the alt C do.
- 7:39I don't know it just it seems to me like some of these old
- 7:45Germanic words and phrases tend to come up more in those
- 7:50circles. From my experience, not so much
- 7:52more of the the new way kind of also true model that that seems
- 7:57to be quite popular. But So what does the word mean?
- 8:02And and what am I talking about? So this word you frame, I like
- 8:08to look at, I like to think of it as a word that means your
- 8:12Social Credit score or your Social Credit rating.
- 8:17And it basically means you're renown.
- 8:21You know what you're known for, How you are, what you're
- 8:26notorious for, what you're infamous for.
- 8:28It's your reputation. You know, but it's specifically
- 8:34come to find out, you know, does it does it contain your
- 8:38reputation within the confines of like your inner circle?
- 8:42Yeah sure it can. But it's it.
- 8:43It's more like the the, the the what you're infamous for or what
- 8:48you're known for on a on a on a grander scale on a broader
- 8:52spectrum. You know, so the kind of
- 8:55reputation that one might have in, I don't know, let's just say
- 9:01you know the the academic community for being someone who
- 9:05is, you know, particularly good at, you know, speaking in German
- 9:11or you know, he learned German, you know he learned
- 9:14conversational German, you know in half the time than the
- 9:19average student takes to learn this language.
- 9:23You know, and he is infamous for his ability to learn a second
- 9:29language, speak a second language and and pick up on it
- 9:33so quickly. Or it could be you know again
- 9:40some a woman who is particularly good at weaving baskets or or
- 9:44weaving threads or or or doing some sort of, you know.
- 9:48Any sort of any sort of skill, you know, I'm just I'm just
- 9:50throwing out examples here. Doesn't have to necessarily be
- 9:53restricted to. Something that a man, woman or
- 9:56child does, but anybody that has a reputation, you know that they
- 10:00have, you know, earned through their through their actions,
- 10:05through their deeds. This is what their gefrain is.
- 10:09And gefrain is one of those types of things that can be like
- 10:22torn down or or damaged. It can come and go.
- 10:27You know, it's not something that is because, you know, you
- 10:31were known for something 10 years ago, means that you're
- 10:35known for the same thing now that you have the same sort of
- 10:37infamy or renown, you know, recently as you did maybe in the
- 10:43past. And it's kind of again.
- 10:46But it is one of those things that can come and go and there
- 10:50are things that can damage ones gefrain or or harm ones gefrain.
- 10:58Their reputation, you know by doing something perhaps that is
- 11:02dishonorable or you know dastardly or or or something
- 11:09right. Their their reputation can be
- 11:11well he was known for being such a great person because they he
- 11:14did you know XY and Z and now he's you know turn around and
- 11:19done something and now his gefrain has has diminished his
- 11:23reputation has diminished. It can also be something that if
- 11:27someone speaks against you, right, if you, and I'm going to
- 11:32use some examples that I I think are are relatively close to my
- 11:36heart because of things that I've had happen to me over the
- 11:39years. You know, where as a, as a
- 11:43content creator, as a as a. Person with a persona on, you
- 11:49know, social media. People have said things over the
- 11:55years about me that for anyone else outside of of who I know
- 12:02immediately and and who are in my inner kind of.
- 12:05Circle or or in and garden right that that inner yard inner
- 12:09circle sort of societal structure.
- 12:14The things that have been said about me over the years that
- 12:17people outside that inner circle would see, would would go, wow,
- 12:20he's not a, he's not the type of person that I want to talk to or
- 12:22hang out with, right? His reputation is less than
- 12:25savory or he doesn't have a very good.
- 12:27Reputation and for a lot of us heathens, you know that's a big
- 12:32deal. And and why is that right?
- 12:35Why is gefrain? Why is our reputation so
- 12:39important? And probably one of the first
- 12:41things that comes to mind for not just me, but for a lot of
- 12:44other Edens and and folks listening or watching this
- 12:47podcast today is that infamous stanza in the Halva Mall, which
- 12:54you know, goes along the lines of, you know, cattle die,
- 12:56kinsmen die and you. Yourself also will die.
- 12:59One thing I know that will never die is the reputation or fair
- 13:03fame of one who has earned it right.
- 13:07So we. Talked about that in in in and
- 13:10we and we want to do things in our physical lives as heathens,
- 13:13where we want to live in ways that we become kind of
- 13:19memorialized or memorialized by our deeds long after our
- 13:24physical bodies are are are dead and gone.
- 13:26And therefore our reputation is the thing that keeps us alive,
- 13:30that that ensures that we truly never die.
- 13:34That is one of the, I think, the most, you know, important things
- 13:39about A-frame that we're talking about here today, that that
- 13:42makes it such an important thing, right?
- 13:44We want our deeds to be honorable.
- 13:47We want our things that we do to be remembered, even when we're
- 13:51not here physically to to to talk about them ourselves or
- 13:56remember them ourselves. Now one thing that I think is,
- 14:03you know, important to to realize is you know, we we, we
- 14:09go through life. Not just as heathens, not just
- 14:11as as pagans. Just we go through life.
- 14:14As people. And one of the things that we
- 14:18hear throughout our lives is that you know you can't please
- 14:22them, all right? You can't please everyone.
- 14:23You can please some of the people.
- 14:26Some of the time you might even be.
- 14:28Able to please all of the people some of the time, but you'll
- 14:34never be able to please all the people all the time.
- 14:37And I think that's a quote that it was penned by Abraham Lincoln
- 14:40maybe. But whoever said it, it's true.
- 14:43You know the things that you do, people will like, some people
- 14:48will like, maybe all people will like what you do.
- 14:51Some of the time. And then there's going to be
- 14:53things that you do sometimes that not all people will like
- 14:59And this day and age here in 2023, almost 2024 and this the
- 15:0721st century. You know, we live in a an era in
- 15:13a time where just when just because somebody does something
- 15:18that the that another person doesn't like, you know,
- 15:21everybody has an opinion about it.
- 15:23And if it's something that they don't agree with, if it's
- 15:25something that. They don't like it's jump on to
- 15:29their social media platforms, yell and scream, complain about
- 15:33it and try to, you know, cancel them, right?
- 15:36There's this whole cancel. Culture thing.
- 15:38I've had it done to me in, in ways before, you know, I
- 15:46remember like a year or two ago, maybe not even that long ago.
- 15:51It was in the last year or two I'd say.
- 15:54And I was doing these like short form reels or short form like
- 15:59the YouTube shorts or or Facebook Instagram reels about
- 16:03the 9 noble virtues. And I and I always, you know,
- 16:05when I, when I talk about the NNVI always make sure to to let
- 16:09people know like hey, this is not something that I think
- 16:13belongs really in Heathenry. Like this is not something that
- 16:16has its place in Heathenry to codify these buzzwords and to
- 16:20make them into this, you know, sort of heathen 10 commandments
- 16:24as it were, right. I don't agree with that and I
- 16:27don't, I especially don't think that because of what, you know
- 16:32source they came through or or how they became codified as any
- 16:37place in Heathenry. They were they were codified by
- 16:40known fascists, right. And and and white supremacists
- 16:43and so to to to have that connection right.
- 16:46There's a thing that talks and we talk about, you know,
- 16:48reputation wise, you know. Like that's a that's a that's a
- 16:50bad reputation to have that's that's that would.
- 16:53Be something that had damaged my gefrain because first of all,
- 16:57I'm talking about these things that were codified by a fascist
- 17:01organization, you know, years and years ago.
- 17:05Does that make them inherently fascist?
- 17:06No, not one, not not at all. But because of their connection
- 17:11to that, you know, group or groups, A lot of people, or at
- 17:17least a certain group of people. Didn't like the fact that I was
- 17:21talking about them and went out and spoke out in their groups
- 17:27against me. They were they.
- 17:28They damaged my giffrain. You know, my reputation took a
- 17:34hit because I was again doing content online and I was on, I
- 17:39was publishing information out here talking about these things,
- 17:45coming at it from the angle of education, right.
- 17:48Well, if we're talking about, you know, truth or fidelity or,
- 17:52you know, industriousness or all these, you know, again, these
- 17:54buzzwords that the NNV have, have, have become and well,
- 18:00let's look at them from a, you know, an educational standpoint.
- 18:03Well, what does it mean to be industrious, you know, And then
- 18:06can we look at it from an old ways perspective, you know, look
- 18:10at the meaning of the word from its root in the Germanic
- 18:13language and all this kind of stuff.
- 18:14That was my angle that I was taking it from.
- 18:16But, you know, that was missed. And that was that wasn't the
- 18:20thing that caught people's attention.
- 18:21What caught people's attention or certain people's attention
- 18:24was that I, you know said something about the 9 noble
- 18:28virtues and oh he didn't say that it was you know you know
- 18:31codified by the Odinic right. And this thing that and the
- 18:34other and that they're you know that that is a fascist you know
- 18:39hate group and all this. And he, you know, because he
- 18:41didn't say that he's he's misleading people.
- 18:43Right. He's they, they, they said these
- 18:44things that for anybody who doesn't know me, right, Anybody
- 18:48who would maybe just be discovering me.
- 18:51Hell, I think there's even a there's even a Reddit board up
- 18:55somewhere, or subreddit board. About me that, you know, again
- 19:04it's it's I don't take any stock to it because none of it's true
- 19:11or or you know it's it's it's all just people you know
- 19:14flapping their jaws and and talking about things that they
- 19:16don't know. But that's the type of.
- 19:18Thing that can affect and and have an impact on one's your
- 19:24frame at least on the surface. You know you might think that
- 19:30those daggers that are being thrown, right.
- 19:33Those those poisonous words that are being mentioned right.
- 19:35All of that jibber jabber that's going on on these you know
- 19:42online forums that they would have an impact on on somebody's
- 19:48life and somebody's reputation. And really, ultimately what it
- 19:51boils down to is it it, it doesn't it.
- 19:55It really doesn't. And here's the reason why.
- 19:59What really and truly matters, OK, when we talk about
- 20:03reputation, and I think the thing that what we want to get
- 20:06into understanding more nowadays is it's not your reputation
- 20:12isn't important with regards to what everybody else thinks of
- 20:17you or or has an opinion of about you.
- 20:20Your reputation that matters is more.
- 20:28It's it's It's more defined in a word called orung.
- 20:36And again if that's and then if that's a mispronunciation on my.
- 20:39Part. I apologize, but it's orung
- 20:42ARUNG. It's an old English word, and
- 20:48orung is a word that is more like your honor.
- 20:58Or, you know, the, the, the, the reputation, the things that you
- 21:05do. Or the OR the OR the OR the
- 21:07honor. Not the honor, but the.
- 21:09What's the word I'm looking for? It's like respect, You know?
- 21:13You have someone's respect. You have someone's yeah, it's,
- 21:18it's, it's, it's. More akin to the word respect in
- 21:21the sense that it is, it is determined by what we do.
- 21:25Our our worth is the thing that calculates the RR autumn and
- 21:34that can only be done by the the the, the relationships that we
- 21:39have with people who we're closest to are in a guard in and
- 21:42guard, excuse me, are in and guard our inner circles, our
- 21:45inner yards because they're the ones that from you know our
- 21:49day-to-day experiences are going to see what we're saying, what
- 21:52you know hear what we're talking about, know what it is that
- 21:55we're doing and know what it is that we're truly about.
- 21:59You know, everybody else that that isn't a part of that that
- 22:03close inner circle of people. They don't know us.
- 22:08You know, they don't know us in in that sort of intimate way and
- 22:12so. All they have to go.
- 22:13By is just, you know, their their their opinions, the things
- 22:16that they think you know. Their feelings, right?
- 22:20Their feelings got hurt or that you know I'm offended, you know
- 22:25well. I mean, I guess then you're
- 22:27offended, right? Like the the, the the people who
- 22:32we are more closely established, you know are are ties with the
- 22:37people who we have proven our worth to right are all on our
- 22:42respect with them is what really determines our our reputation.
- 22:47That never dies, you know? I look at, you know, your frame
- 22:53in in sort of a way as like, you know, look at it like you know,
- 22:56being a being a celebrity or or look back at some celebrities
- 23:01who were big time celebrities, you know, 20-30 years ago, maybe
- 23:06not even that long ago. You know, depending on how old
- 23:09some of the folks that listen to this show are or watch this
- 23:13show. You know, maybe just within the
- 23:15last decade or or or so. You know maybe they were a big
- 23:17deal back then and now you barely even know who they are.
- 23:22You know their reputation was there.
- 23:25They were known for something and now they're really, you know
- 23:27they're they're kind of forgotten about their they're
- 23:29they're they're not even, you know mentioned hardly anymore
- 23:33They're and for whatever reason that could be their reputation.
- 23:37They they they are. They are not as infamous as they
- 23:39once were. So that's the way.
- 23:42You know, and so does it matter? No, I'm sure that.
- 23:44You know it with with their inner people, with with the
- 23:47people that they're closest to. Right.
- 23:49They are known for what they're known for and and and their
- 23:51worth and their respect is, is determined based around those
- 23:56activities, the things that they do with those people.
- 23:58It's not based or determined on so much, you know on the on the
- 24:03grander scheme of things, on the broader spectrum of things.
- 24:08That part really doesn't matter much, at least not on the
- 24:10day-to-day, you know, relationship sort of thing.
- 24:15Now that's not to say that you're just going to go, you
- 24:18know, and and say, well, the hell with everybody else.
- 24:21That's not my inner circle, right?
- 24:23I'm not going to come on here. You know, as a as a content
- 24:26creator as a podcast host. I'm going to come on here and
- 24:29just, you know be a jerk for no reason to to the public right
- 24:33and call you call you all names and and and just be a general
- 24:39jerk because I can or or because I feel like a will because no,
- 24:43that that would be, that would be, that would that wouldn't be
- 24:47right. You know that wouldn't be wise
- 24:48and that wouldn't be the right thing to do, you know.
- 24:51But if I come on here and I say something about, you know, use
- 24:59the 9 noble virtues again as an example.
- 25:01Right. Who?
- 25:01Let's just say that that topic on this podcast gets in the ears
- 25:08of people. You know who who really think
- 25:13something about the NNV. You know their kindred laws are
- 25:18built around the NNV or whatever the case may be, right.
- 25:22Well then they're going to go and they're going to, you know,
- 25:23start flapping their jaws about what Jesse on the random heathen
- 25:28Ramley's podcast or this Midgard musing schmuck or whatever, you
- 25:30know they're going to say. Look what he's talking about.
- 25:32He doesn't know his thing. He thinks that you know courage
- 25:35and honour and truth and you know fidelity and
- 25:37industriousness and all these things.
- 25:39How how can what do you mean they have no place in Heathenry
- 25:42What kind of what kind of kind of softier are you right.
- 25:45Talking about, you know, so I'm saying like you know people can
- 25:47you can go either way with it. And that's what I'm talking
- 25:49about is if you if you're going to come out here and try to be
- 25:53all things for all men and women and and and say things just to
- 25:56try to be you know keep people from.
- 26:00And raising the fuss, It's impossible.
- 26:02You can't please all the people all the time.
- 26:04And I'm not out here to try to. I have my.
- 26:10You know, beliefs on things. I have my views on things I have
- 26:18my my approach to to things, how I how I live my my life.
- 26:23And then some of those aspects of things get, you know, shared
- 26:28in in to some degree with the world, you know, not in their
- 26:32entirety. But certain aspects of the way I
- 26:35see the world and the way I view the world are shared through my
- 26:38content. You know, I'm going to talk
- 26:41about certain topics in a, you know, in a certain way based on
- 26:46my world views. And some of those things are
- 26:49going to rub people the wrong way and they're going to take to
- 26:52their social media, as people are often want to do.
- 26:56And and and you know try to talk about you know we'll you know
- 27:02he's got all these listeners and stuff and he's out here saying
- 27:04all these things and and you guys, you should you shouldn't
- 27:07you shouldn't follow him. You shouldn't subscribe.
- 27:08You shouldn't support him in this way because of what he says
- 27:11because of what he thinks. Again, the the people that know
- 27:17me, that I've proven my worth to, that I continue to prove my
- 27:22worth to, that I live in a way that proves my worth to.
- 27:29Because that's a thing that I never feel is is like once
- 27:31you've once you've proven it, once you've established it, then
- 27:34you can just kind of sit back, relax and not worry about it
- 27:37anymore or not focus on it anymore.
- 27:39No if if, if you have taken time and and deemed it right to have
- 27:45worth, be a thing that is a part of your social orders, your
- 27:50social construct, you know in it, within a within a group of
- 27:53tribe, a kindred right, whatever you want to name your.
- 27:57Group. Or whatever name your group has
- 28:00if Worthing and if worth is a thing that you have an
- 28:03understanding of with between you and your people.
- 28:05And it's not a thing that you just you know, set and forget.
- 28:11It's a constant work in progress.
- 28:15You know you are always and constantly proving worth to one
- 28:19another through your deeds. You're all wrong becomes
- 28:23stronger between one another through the worth that you are
- 28:30displaying, right? That's the indicator, that's the
- 28:33that's kind of the thing that gets measured by and that's who
- 28:37you're doing it for and with, right?
- 28:39You're you're, you're, you're not doing this for the outside
- 28:41world. You're not doing this for those
- 28:42that are outside of that social construct.
- 28:46You know, you're doing it for yourself, for your people and
- 28:49then for you, right? There's that reciprocation thing
- 28:52that is so important amongst heathens as well and it's not
- 28:57for the outside, it's not for all these people.
- 29:00So you can you know, you can the the the people that don't know
- 29:04what's going on on the inside that aren't a part of it.
- 29:07They're only going to see what what's happening on the surface
- 29:09and they're going to draw a conclusion or they're going to
- 29:11come up with a a reason why they feel a certain way based off of
- 29:15what limited information they see.
- 29:18They don't know all the details. They're not involved with those
- 29:21intimate moments. So would would would somebody go
- 29:27and then and say all these things be be a way of of
- 29:31diminishing or or or damaging one's gefrain.
- 29:34Yeah because I mean again especially when it comes to like
- 29:37social media right these these online you know I have an online
- 29:41presence. I have an online persona.
- 29:43You know what you see here in front of your camera today is
- 29:45not the the person that 85 to 90% of the people on my
- 29:50day-to-day activities see. You know, obviously I'm not
- 29:56sitting behind here all the time talking to people.
- 29:59I'm I'm interacting with people. I'm, I'm not dressed this way
- 30:02all the time, right. There's there's certain aspects
- 30:05about me that that only are are what you see on the surface and
- 30:08if that's the only thing that people draw their conclusion on
- 30:11and then they're only and they're only getting a.
- 30:13Portion of it, right. So the the, the, the reputation
- 30:17that gets damaged, it doesn't really impact me on a, on a, on
- 30:23a, on the, on the in the ways that it.
- 30:26That it matters. You know what I mean?
- 30:29You can get out. You can come out here and and
- 30:31say all the things you want to about me.
- 30:32But the people who are close to me and who I am, you know, worth
- 30:37to and who have worth themselves to me, who have, you know,
- 30:40exchanged oaths with with these people to in in in some aspects
- 30:46and and in some contexts. You know, if they're my
- 30:49tribesmen, if they're, if they're an extension of my
- 30:53family, my kif, right? If they are brothers or sisters
- 30:56of mine through through Worthing, through an oath,
- 30:59through, you know, something like that, then they know the
- 31:04real me, or at least the realer version of me than people that
- 31:08see me on a, on a on a phone screen or on their laptop or
- 31:12even on ATV. If they're streaming it to their
- 31:15devices, right? They they they know me better
- 31:17than you guys do from looking at me on a screen.
- 31:21So that's who I am obligated to and that's what matters more is,
- 31:26is, is that you know and and the thing that matters is that it.
- 31:32When when I am wrong, right. If let's say you know something
- 31:36that I'm doing out here on this, on this, on this podcast, right?
- 31:40If I say something that is just flat out baloney.
- 31:45Misinformation. Totally incorrect.
- 31:48Very misleading, right. Just downright wrong.
- 31:52The outside world says it. OK, you know, I might look into
- 31:58it just to see. But if my people on the inside
- 32:01are saying it, and they're the ones that are like, dude, what
- 32:04do you, what do you what is, what is wrong with you?
- 32:07You know, why did you do that? I'm going to take what they say
- 32:11closer to heart because that's I'm obligated to them, you know,
- 32:17My, my, my, my worth is determined by them and if the
- 32:20thing that I've done has. Made it to.
- 32:24To them, for them to feel like I am not worth as much as I once
- 32:28was because of something that I did, that my worth is diminished
- 32:31or whatever, right. If it's something I said,
- 32:32something I did, my deeds have to have have impacted.
- 32:36My you know are are the the autumn that I've that I've that
- 32:43I've earned and that I've won then I need to take that to
- 32:47heart and I need to focus on yeah I I I really did you know
- 32:51screw up because now you know these these people they're my
- 32:55friends. They're my family.
- 32:56They're my they're they're they're the extensions of my
- 32:58family perhaps they're my tribe right there.
- 33:00These all these things that mean something very close to me.
- 33:04And if I've done wrong for to them or against them then I need
- 33:09I need to make that right. I need to.
- 33:11I need to fix that wrong immediately, right?
- 33:14If I offended somebody out here in in, you know, Facebook land
- 33:17or on YouTube or wherever the heck you know it might be, Oh
- 33:22well, you don't like it. You can go somewhere, right?
- 33:25You You don't have to follow me anymore.
- 33:26You don't. You don't have to subscribe to
- 33:28what I'm doing. You can unfollow me.
- 33:31You can unsubscribe. You can block me on your social
- 33:34medias, right? You can.
- 33:35Forget about it. You can forget about me.
- 33:37I don't care. It doesn't matter that.
- 33:39Much to me, my reputation is more valuable and it is more
- 33:42important as contained within the ordering of my of of of my,
- 33:48of the shared experiences with my people.
- 33:52So I wanted to, you know, bring this up this week because when I
- 33:57saw that post on Facebook, it got me thinking about, you know,
- 34:03at one point in time I was like, well, gefrain is just
- 34:05reputation, right? It's in it.
- 34:07And we need to do everything we can to preserve our reputation,
- 34:11right and to make sure that our reputation is is strong and in
- 34:14that you know in that way we will never die, right Going back
- 34:16to the hub mall stanza that I mentioned earlier and I think
- 34:22the more I've you know read into it a bit and and and.
- 34:25Realize that this is yeah, there's some importance to it.
- 34:29But on a, on a, on a in the ways that it matters the most, it's
- 34:33it. It's not.
- 34:38It's it's on a smaller scale, you know what I mean?
- 34:41So while you guys are thinking about that, I want you to listen
- 34:44to a message from from Fialvatir Workshop.
- 34:48They are the mountain spirit, shamanic, you know, JM Olson,

- 35:02stuff. Do be sure to check them out
- 35:04fialvatir.com and then we'll come right back and sort of wrap
- 35:07things up. Thanks for listening.

- 36:03Seat. And kind of a throne in as it
- 36:06were. But yeah drums, rattles, rune
- 36:11sets, stives, necklaces. I mean all kinds of beautiful
- 36:16things that fialvitir.com. So do be sure to check them out.
- 36:20Getting close to the holidays, you know everybody's busy trying
- 36:24to find gifts and things like that.
- 36:25They do payment options as well. So you know if you guys see
- 36:29something there on their website and you're like I just don't
- 36:30have the you know, X amount of dollars to drop on that
- 36:33particular thing, they will do payment plans.
- 36:37So just head over to their to their website and and check it
- 36:42out. You know, I fully endorse what
- 36:46they do and I love what they do. And I want.
- 36:48To see them continue to be successful in what they do.
- 36:52I want their fair fame to never die, you know?
- 36:57But yeah, guys, you know, I, you know, one of the one of the
- 36:59funny things is like I've I've been doing this online thing now
- 37:06for a number of years now, over five years, 5-6 years and that's
- 37:17probably let me think now 2003. Yeah.
- 37:21So you know, at least six years that I've been doing the, you
- 37:24know, doing videos and and and but even before that, you know,
- 37:29before I was doing this heathen thing, I was doing you know,
- 37:32music promotion and and and stuff in our local metal music
- 37:37scenes. And then you know, so I mean I'm
- 37:38no stranger to being a persona online and and and having a
- 37:44presence online and having a following online, you know.
- 37:49So this was like, you know, old hat for me to kind of just move
- 37:51into this and then and do it in, in this sort of way, you know?
- 37:56The trolls that are out there. You know, don't feed them.
- 37:59I I've had to I've had to remind myself that a lot even more even
- 38:04recently you know I've had to take a a stance and look back at
- 38:11myself and go what am I even doing by engaging these people
- 38:15that are just out here to pick a fight just out here to get a get
- 38:19a reaction from me. You know I I create content you
- 38:29know but this isn't a job for me.
- 38:30I'm not I'm not out here trying to earn a living.
- 38:32I'm just trying to keep you know what what time I spend doing
- 38:37these things for people and and talking about these topics right
- 38:41and then taking the requests and and doing that.
- 38:44I'm just trying to to make the time spent doing it.
- 38:48You know see you see some sort of you know return on my time
- 38:52because time is is valuable. I'm not out here again trying to
- 38:58earn a living. I'm not.
- 38:58I'm not a, you know. I'm not Tank Tolman, man.
- 39:01I'm not, you know, Thor Roseland.
- 39:05I'm not, you know. These, these these people that
- 39:08you know, look apart, look a certain way, adopt A mantle, put
- 39:15on a put on a costume, as it were, and pretend to be
- 39:19something in character for. For Views, you know that's why
- 39:29this podcast You know why Midgard Musings, why the Random
- 39:35Heathen Randlinks podcast is never going to be huge, you
- 39:42know? I I I sort of strayed off of the
- 39:45path. When I say straight off the
- 39:50path, I mean I I strayed away from doing it doing this stuff
- 39:55for the reasons that I started doing it.
- 39:58When I started, you know, going into like posting all of these
- 40:04shorts or reels, you know these, these, these these minute long
- 40:08blurbs about, you know, the Norse gods this or you know, you
- 40:14guys know the ones I'm talking about.
- 40:17And man, they were. They were, you know.
- 40:18It was cool to see. All the shares, all of the, all
- 40:25the reactions, you know, the comments, people enjoying and
- 40:27having a good time. And I'm like, yeah, I'm going
- 40:29get somewhere, I'm get some traction, I'm blowing up now,
- 40:32this is great. And then my, you know, the, the
- 40:37stuff that I would do with like the podcast or whatever, it
- 40:39would get hardly any attraction, not hardly any interest, hardly
- 40:45any interaction. I thought, well, that's
- 40:54interesting, you know, stop. I had.
- 40:58I had stopped chasing that attention, you know, nobody told
- 41:07me. I had to.
- 41:09Nobody called me out or said anything about it really.
- 41:14But it was. It was.
- 41:15It was becoming obvious to me that this isn't what I'm about.
- 41:24You know, this isn't why I'm doing this.
- 41:27This is not why I sit in front of a camera, you know, once a
- 41:31week or twice a week or however long, however many hours a week.
- 41:34But this isn't the reason why I do what I do.
- 41:37This is not to be an entertainer, right?
- 41:40I want the content to be entertaining enough to keep your
- 41:42attention, right? Give you guys some visuals, you
- 41:47know, the audio, the music, whatever you know, give it.
- 41:49Give you something like a show to watch.
- 41:53But I want it to be real. I want it to be genuine.
- 41:55And I and and that's that's what I had told everybody from the
- 41:59beginning is what I had told myself that was loud stupid Dell
- 42:05command center updates. But yeah I I told everybody that
- 42:12and I told myself that that that's what it was going to be.
- 42:14You know from the beginning and at as time goes along and as you
- 42:20know you, you start getting immersed in the culture, you
- 42:26know the online culture, the social media, content creator
- 42:29culture, you start being a part of all these various things and
- 42:33you're like, well, I got to stay relevant.
- 42:34I got to do this to stay relevant.
- 42:35Otherwise I'll get lost. I'm like, but do I really do I
- 42:39do I really need to stay relevant to to not get buried?
- 42:47It goes back to the gefrain thing, right?
- 42:49If if my reputation is, you know, 5 followers because
- 42:58they're close to me and they mean something to me and they
- 43:01are I mean something to them and then the content that I produce
- 43:05is valuable to them, all right, That is a much better audience
- 43:10to to work with And and that is a much better reputation to have
- 43:15than 500,000 followers that just want to, you know, watch
- 43:21something for three seconds, laugh and then scroll on to the
- 43:24next thing and not learn any damn thing.
- 43:26You know what I mean? So, you know, it's like, it's
- 43:32cool, I guess you could say, to be like.
- 43:34I got you know, however many hundreds of views or however
- 43:39many thousands of. Subscribers or followers or
- 43:43whatever. Right.
- 43:44Like that sounds cool. That doesn't really mean
- 43:50anything, you know, because I don't talk to those people, you
- 43:57know, I don't, I don't have interactions with the thousands
- 44:01of of folks that that subscribe the 10s of thousands of folks
- 44:05that that follow my content across three or four different
- 44:09social media platforms, you know?
- 44:15You know the the percentage of people who I engage with.
- 44:19Even on this, you know sort of thing in in this sort of way is
- 44:25is much less than that. So they can they can say all the
- 44:33things that they want to say. People can put me in a, you
- 44:36know, subreddits and and post about me in groups or whatever
- 44:40for all I care my my ordering is strong with.
- 44:46With those that. I am closely tied to and I and I
- 44:51work hard to make sure that that is the case.
- 44:56You know, I don't want to do anything that's going to to
- 44:59damage what we've worked hard together to build and and to and
- 45:04to attain, you know, and I also don't want it to, you know and I
- 45:09and I feel that if that's the if that's the purpose, if that's
- 45:11the reason. Why we do what we do?
- 45:14Then you can't. You can't help but to reflect
- 45:18beyond that, that inner circle, you know, people outside of that
- 45:21are going to see, hey, he's genuine, he's real.
- 45:25He ain't out here just putting on a show for the likes or for
- 45:28the views. He's not just out here trying to
- 45:30be famous. He's not out here just trying to
- 45:32be cool or you know, be the next, you know, heathen
- 45:37sensation, influencer person or anything like that.
- 45:41No, he's he's being genuine. He's being real.
- 45:43And I know some of you that listen and watched my stuff that
- 45:47have told me that and it's it's humbling to hear that because I
- 45:53I, I try to be as genuine as I possibly can.
- 45:58You know I don't over share or try not to over share with when
- 46:02when things aren't, you know, supposed to be.
- 46:05But, you know, I come on here and I talk in in ways that are
- 46:13not too different than than the ways that are, you know, with
- 46:17people face to face. This is not scripted.
- 46:20I don't, you know, I don't change a whole hell of a lot in
- 46:25front of the camera when I'm delivering this stuff.
- 46:30And that's why it's and that's, you know, that's why when I was
- 46:35getting into the the habit of just posting content just to to,
- 46:39well, I got to post a video today.
- 46:41I got to post it at a certain time.
- 46:43I got to find something to post right.
- 46:45It was like it was it was taking all of the the genuineness out
- 46:49of me and I was becoming another one of these just you know and
- 46:53nothing against people that can earn or make a living by doing
- 46:56what they love in that way and being that entertainer, right.
- 46:58You know everything has a has a place and some of these people
- 47:03you know are are are doing good stuff for for for the world.
- 47:07You know they're they're making people laugh.
- 47:09They're they're giving people smiles, You know, they're
- 47:14they're they're they're brightening people's lives.
- 47:16And that's great. You know, we need more of that.
- 47:22And whatever little thing I can do along the way, I'm just going
- 47:29to keep being genuine. I'm just going to keep being
- 47:32authentic to what I am, what I believe and not straying into
- 47:38this, you know pretender mindset or trying to be something that
- 47:49I'm not, you know, just for the for the reputation for the
- 47:53renown. Remember Me.
- 47:56I mean shit like there's enough videos on the Internet now that
- 48:00I don't think that you know again, for the people that that
- 48:02that that matter to me and that I matter to them, you know, I'm
- 48:06not going to be forgotten. Like, there's enough content out
- 48:09here in the Internet that that for years to come you'll be able
- 48:13to Remember Me by. But anyway, that's the that's
- 48:17the thing about your frame that I wanted to talk about.
- 48:19You know, don't don't worry so much about what what everybody
- 48:23else says or thinks. Don't think that that's going to
