Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to this week's Off the Bench podcast from
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Premier League. I'm Lee from FPL Family.
- 0:21Speaker 2: And I'm Sam, the other half of f PL family.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Wow, what a nice surprise the FPL family together on
- 0:27Speaker 1: and Off the Bench podcast for the very first time.
- 0:29Speaker 1: And we have to say before we get started, get
- 0:32Speaker 1: well soon to my usual partnering crime as Philips yellow
- 0:34Speaker 1: flagged right now, Sam yellow flagged might be orange. I'm
- 0:37Speaker 1: sure he's going to be fit to play sooner rather
- 0:40Speaker 1: than later. But it is an appropriate week for us
- 0:43Speaker 1: to appear on off the Bench together for the first time, Sam,
- 0:45Speaker 1: because our sides, Liverpool and Spurs met each other on
- 0:47Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon, which we'll get to later on.
- 0:51Speaker 2: How'd he go?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Week thirty go for you? Though?
- 0:53Speaker 2: That was a really good week actually for the first
- 0:55Speaker 2: time in a little while seventy three. Everything that could
- 0:59Speaker 2: kind of go right, it went right. Debravka had to
- 1:01Speaker 2: come off the bench because rus is injured, but that
- 1:03Speaker 2: was nice for a six pointer obviously, like most of
- 1:06Speaker 2: the game had. Gabrielle Senesi and with a ten pointer
- 1:09Speaker 2: was really lovely. Having benched in the previous week and
- 1:11Speaker 2: felt quite annoyed at myself for that had Bruno as captain,
- 1:15Speaker 2: Saboslai with his eleven pointer. I didn't even mind that
- 1:17Speaker 2: goal against burs when it bought me and an.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Eleven didn't celebrated, did you? But you were kind of
- 1:23Speaker 1: like in your head you were like, oh, good for FBL.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I was thinking, there's worse things that could have happened here.
- 1:28Speaker 1: At least I got some FPR points out of it.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And then Tiago with the goal in the Monday night
- 1:32Speaker 1: at football. So yeah, up nearly six hundred k in rank,
- 1:37Speaker 1: a really really nice big green era. I think it
- 1:39Speaker 1: was like twenty six percent change on my rank overall,
- 1:42Speaker 1: So very very happy with that.
- 1:43Speaker 2: How about you?
- 1:44Speaker 1: How did he go good? Yeah, not as good as you,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but still pretty good. At sixty two, I was pretty
- 1:48Speaker 1: happy with that. Gabrielle with you know what seems to
- 1:51Speaker 1: be the kind of standard nine pointer now, Like what
- 1:53Speaker 1: a good asset he's been for us this season, and
- 1:56Speaker 1: despite the fact that they blank in game week thirty one,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I don't see me selling gabriel I think I'm to
- 2:00Speaker 1: hold him through, probably just bench him next week. Helling
- 2:03Speaker 1: with the eight points of a Broggan seven, Thiago six,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and then Bruno Fernandez as captain with the twenty, so
- 2:09Speaker 1: you feel like I've got the captaincy right, and then
- 2:11Speaker 1: had you know, a little bit of unexpected. I wouldn't
- 2:14Speaker 1: say luck, but I wasn't expecting for Briognt to keep
- 2:16Speaker 1: a clean sheet theirs, but a seven point was very welcome.
- 2:20Speaker 1: So sixty two, that puts me up to about one
- 2:22Speaker 1: hundred and twenty odd K, one hundred and twenty five
- 2:24Speaker 1: od K something like that. So I think that's my
- 2:27Speaker 1: seventh green arrow in a row. So I'm just waiting
- 2:29Speaker 1: for the I'm waiting for the luck to run out,
- 2:31Speaker 1: do you know what I mean? But it seemed to
- 2:32Speaker 1: be on a bit of a run here. But of course,
- 2:35Speaker 1: as we both know, we're about to come into a
- 2:38Speaker 1: pretty well let's just call it a fun the time
- 2:41Speaker 1: in FPR. The next few weeks are going to sort
- 2:43Speaker 1: the engaged FPR managers from those that kind of casually
- 2:46Speaker 1: play the game, aren't they. I mean, we've got blank
- 2:48Speaker 1: game Week thirty one coming up. We're going to have
- 2:50Speaker 1: we have doubles, We're going to have all sorts going
- 2:52Speaker 1: on Chip season as well. I'm ready to attack it.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I don't know about you, I feel ready for it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's It's interesting, isn't it, because we're
- 2:59Speaker 2: on very different strategies. Obviously, I've already played my World card,
- 3:02Speaker 2: so I'm kind of managing around with three transfers making
- 3:04Speaker 2: sure that I've got enough players for this week. You
- 3:06Speaker 2: haven't played your World card, so you can be maybe
- 3:08Speaker 2: a little bit more rogue this week going into it,
- 3:13Speaker 2: I suppose, because you can always bring players back in
- 3:15Speaker 2: on worldcard, whereas I have to plan for that. So yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 2: it's definitely going to be the part of the season
- 3:19Speaker 2: where all the fun begins, I think. And you can
- 3:23Speaker 2: really have big game weeks that go well for you
- 3:26Speaker 2: and ones that don't if you don't have your strategy right,
- 3:29Speaker 2: particularly in terms of the chips that you can use
- 3:31Speaker 2: over the coming weeks.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Yeah, totally true. Totally true. Well, speaking of the fun beginning,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and I use fun loosely with this game, Liverpool one
- 3:37Speaker 1: Spurs one, I think we need to get this one
- 3:39Speaker 1: out of the way, don't we start with the FKL
- 3:42Speaker 1: family Derby Liverpool one point sixty seven XG created so
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, not bad but zero big chances. Like I
- 3:50Speaker 1: don't remember Vicario really making a very good save in
- 3:53Speaker 1: actual fact, probably should have saved, should have done better
- 3:55Speaker 1: with the Suppo's life pray kick in my opinion. Yeah, however,
- 3:58Speaker 1: Spurs two big chances and actually I saw on x
- 4:01Speaker 1: actually over the weekend was that Spurs covered nine kilometers
- 4:05Speaker 1: more than Liverpool. Here you outrun us by fifteen percent.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Now that's just oh, I'd have to be careful. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: got to keep my call Lib when we have this
- 4:13Speaker 1: conversation about Liverpool, because I was so frustrated with the game,
- 4:16Speaker 1: as you know, because we were watching it together. Just
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't know the Lethard g the kind of lack
- 4:20Speaker 1: of effort, the lack of intensity from Liverpool was was
- 4:24Speaker 1: kind of stark really, but let's talk about obviously an
- 4:27Speaker 1: FPL perspective, the big news I suppose coming into this
- 4:30Speaker 1: game was Liverpool starting eleven. A lot of FPR managers
- 4:33Speaker 1: me included bringing in Hugo Ektk upfront for Liverpool. Some
- 4:38Speaker 1: managers also investing in Salah in midfield, largely because of
- 4:42Speaker 1: what he can do for us rather than what he
- 4:44Speaker 1: has been doing lately. I think both on the bench,
- 4:46Speaker 1: both started on the bench for this game, and both
- 4:48Speaker 1: come on and had minimal impact in reality, So yeah,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I don't know that's now Liverpool have conceded twenty one
- 4:54Speaker 1: goals after the seventy fifth minute in games across all
- 4:57Speaker 1: competitions now and just two clean sheets in nine slots. Men,
- 5:01Speaker 1: So even those that have got Virgil van Dijk weren't
- 5:03Speaker 1: counting their points as they have been in previous week.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So yeah, talk to me about how you felt about
- 5:08Speaker 1: ekity K and Salaby and Benched As a subbos Co owner,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you've got to be happy, and then we'll get to
- 5:13Speaker 1: Spurs in a minute.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Ekityk two hundred and fifty nine thousand transfers in
- 5:18Speaker 2: for him. He was the fourth most bought this week.
- 5:20Speaker 2: He was the second most captained player in the game week,
- 5:23Speaker 2: which doesn't normally happen. Normally we would see, you know,
- 5:25Speaker 2: somebody like a Bruno Fernandez or maybe one of the
- 5:29Speaker 2: really informed players Jeo Pedro, that kind of thing. So
- 5:31Speaker 2: for Ekityk to be given the armband shows how people
- 5:34Speaker 2: were feeling about the Spurs Liverpool game and the way
- 5:36Speaker 2: that it might go. So one point two million managers
- 5:39Speaker 2: gave him the armband this week obviously comes off. He
- 5:42Speaker 2: gets that one pointer didn't really look like doing much
- 5:45Speaker 2: either when he came off the bench. As you said,
- 5:47Speaker 2: no big chances for Liverpool in this one, but I
- 5:51Speaker 2: think remains a hold despite that. But what's really interesting
- 5:54Speaker 2: is is the amount of times that Liverpool kind of
- 5:56Speaker 2: doing this that the commentary was talking about. And you
- 5:59Speaker 2: talk all the time time about how Liverpool sleepwalking matches
- 6:01Speaker 2: and I think it was that's that that you read
- 6:04Speaker 2: out about the distance that Spurs covered in comparison to
- 6:08Speaker 2: Liverpool kind of highlights that there was a real hard
- 6:10Speaker 2: working effort from Spurs. Dom Sa Bosla has been a
- 6:14Speaker 2: really good bye for me over the last few weeks.
- 6:15Speaker 2: He has been one that's kind of been consistently returning
- 6:18Speaker 2: And obviously we talk all the time in FPL about
- 6:20Speaker 2: roots to points and historically Salah would always be the
- 6:24Speaker 2: player at Liverpool that you'd want for the roots to
- 6:26Speaker 2: points because you have the penalties and his attacking threat
- 6:30Speaker 2: and particularly last season he was unbelievable in FBL. This
- 6:33Speaker 2: year not so much. But dom to Bosli and another
- 6:36Speaker 2: free kick. Now I agree with what you said. I
- 6:37Speaker 2: do think the Cairo probably should do better with that. Well,
- 6:40Speaker 2: he pretty much gets a full hand to it, but Nonetheless,
- 6:43Speaker 2: that's his second attacking return in three game weeks now.
- 6:46Speaker 2: He also got defensive contribution points and some bonus points.
- 6:50Speaker 2: He's now registered in an attacking return or defensive contribution
- 6:52Speaker 2: points in six of his last seven appearances for Liverpool.
- 6:55Speaker 2: So Dom s Bosli as the cheaper route into investing
- 6:59Speaker 2: in Liverpool definitely feels like the best option right now
- 7:03Speaker 2: in comparison to the level of money that you're spending
- 7:05Speaker 2: on the likes of Verts or Ekatek. I just think
- 7:08Speaker 2: for consistency at seven million, and for those that have
- 7:11Speaker 2: got you know, Rice who's not going to play this week,
- 7:13Speaker 2: or Manchester City midfielder who's also not going to play
- 7:16Speaker 2: coming up in thirty one. Dom suppose I just feels
- 7:19Speaker 2: like a bit of a gift, to be honest, because
- 7:21Speaker 2: he's always getting something.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I think he's so good. And there
- 7:25Speaker 1: are a lot of FPR managers that didn't go there
- 7:28Speaker 1: because Slot likes to play him at right back, and
- 7:30Speaker 1: even I was virgin caution you know, don't want him
- 7:33Speaker 1: to be playing out of position. But let me tell you,
- 7:35Speaker 1: when he plays right back, he still takes a lot
- 7:36Speaker 1: of corners and free kicks. So he's got some roots
- 7:39Speaker 1: to assist there and goals as we saw at the weekend,
- 7:41Speaker 1: and he usually gets the defensive contributions when he plays
- 7:43Speaker 1: right back. Yeah, So whether Slot plays him in the
- 7:45Speaker 1: ten and in the ten, I think he's great in
- 7:47Speaker 1: the ten, perfect right goal for it, assists for everything
- 7:50Speaker 1: that he'd want. But even at right back, he's got
- 7:52Speaker 1: the opportunity to get defensive contributions and still get assists
- 7:55Speaker 1: and goals. So I think he's a really good I
- 7:57Speaker 1: think he's a really really good option ATKO though. Yeah,
- 8:00Speaker 1: having brought him in, I was obviously disappointed to see
- 8:03Speaker 1: him benched starting a game. What you were saying there
- 8:06Speaker 1: about him being a hold up, I'm not so sure,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you know. I'm not so sure.
- 8:10Speaker 2: You have to with the blank coming up there, you
- 8:11Speaker 2: can't send it having a blank game week you do.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But the thing is I've got I've got a keen
- 8:16Speaker 1: eye on how we get on with against Galatasterai in
- 8:18Speaker 1: the week. If he plays ninety again against Galatasterai, particularly
- 8:21Speaker 1: if we get through against Galatasarai, you've got to think
- 8:24Speaker 1: then that you know, there'll be a bit of a
- 8:26Speaker 1: mentality shift at Liverpool towards maybe all in on the
- 8:30Speaker 1: Champions League rather than listen. We can't afford to the
- 8:33Speaker 1: Premier League form slip, can we? But you know, maybe
- 8:36Speaker 1: we just see reduced minutes for Hugo because we start
- 8:39Speaker 1: to prioritize the Champions League. That's a big game against Galatasara.
- 8:42Speaker 1: If he plays ninety, I think there's a there's a
- 8:45Speaker 1: real chance that he gets benched again in the next
- 8:47Speaker 1: game out. But you're right, I think given that he
- 8:49Speaker 1: plays in thirty one, you've got to hold him. Let's
- 8:51Speaker 1: use that as a bit of a transition to Spurs
- 8:54Speaker 1: because one of the players that I was really impressed with,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and despite Spurs obviously, you know, coming into this game
- 8:59Speaker 1: one in fourteen five straight defeats. You don't need me
- 9:02Speaker 1: to reel out that rhetoric anymore, right, But the one
- 9:04Speaker 1: player that's kind of stood out for me, there's been
- 9:06Speaker 1: a couple of thot. Jed Spent's very good in this
- 9:08Speaker 1: game and has been in recent weeks. But Ray Charlison's
- 9:10Speaker 1: got this. There's something about Richardson, isn't they He done
- 9:13Speaker 1: it for Everton as well when he was there. He's
- 9:14Speaker 1: got this kind of like anti relegation I'm not going
- 9:18Speaker 1: down kind of attitude. And as a Spurs fan and
- 9:21Speaker 1: there's a Spurs community, you guys must love to see it, right.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I mean he had five shots in total in this game,
- 9:25Speaker 1: which was the most of any player on the pitch.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He actually suspended for the Spurs game in Europe in midweek,
- 9:30Speaker 1: so you've got to suspect he's going to be rolled
- 9:32Speaker 1: out in game week thirty one. Of course, Spurs have
- 9:34Speaker 1: got that really important game against Forrest that home. You know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: a huge six pointer, we have to say it's a
- 9:39Speaker 1: six pointer. He's six point seven million. I'm just saying
- 9:43Speaker 1: rich Arlison's an all right punp for those that want
- 9:45Speaker 1: to play him in thirty one, particularly if then you're
- 9:47Speaker 1: wild carding in thirty two, because you can reverse to
- 9:49Speaker 1: the decision if you want to.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, a Spurs fan base, we've been talking about how
- 9:54Speaker 2: we've unlocked relegation rich Arlison because it does feel like
- 9:58Speaker 2: he has He turns in to this kind of like
- 10:01Speaker 2: force that is like he's out there, he's given everything
- 10:04Speaker 2: for the cause and as a Spurs fan, I love
- 10:06Speaker 2: to see it. But this is now his second goal
- 10:07Speaker 2: in three matches and he got the bonus points in
- 10:10Speaker 2: the game against against Liverpool at the weekend. Look, I
- 10:13Speaker 2: don't I'm not normally going to sit here and I
- 10:15Speaker 2: don't think for for months and months now, I've sat
- 10:17Speaker 2: on any podcasts and said you should invest in Spurs.
- 10:20Speaker 2: But this weekend is slightly different because obviously we don't
- 10:24Speaker 2: have the four teams playing, and two of those teams,
- 10:26Speaker 2: the Manchester City and Arsenals, are teams that we're heavily
- 10:30Speaker 2: invested in. And for those managers that are holding a
- 10:32Speaker 2: wild card and looking to do that in game week
- 10:34Speaker 2: thirty two or heading into game week thirty two game
- 10:37Speaker 2: week thirty one is the perfect opportunity to take a
- 10:39Speaker 2: punt on a player. It's the perfect opportunity to go right, well,
- 10:42Speaker 2: who's got something to really fight for, who's got form?
- 10:45Speaker 2: Wellbra Charlison's got both of those things. He's got form,
- 10:48Speaker 2: he's got something to fight for, and as you mentioned,
- 10:50Speaker 2: cannot play in Wednesday evening's Champions League game, So that
- 10:54Speaker 2: makes a massive difference in terms of what team I
- 10:56Speaker 2: would expect to set up. Plus we're still without fourteen
- 11:00Speaker 2: team players, so it's not like he's got loads of
- 11:02Speaker 2: other options that he can rotate into either. So yes,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I don't think that long term you're going to be
- 11:08Speaker 2: investing in Spurs. But for game week thirty one, I
- 11:10Speaker 2: don't mind a little bit of a punt on rich Arlison.
- 11:12Speaker 2: If you've got a forward slot that you need to fail,
- 11:15Speaker 2: or if you're looking to do something different across your
- 11:18Speaker 2: front line, then it does feel like there's an opportunity
- 11:20Speaker 2: there to go somewhere new.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Goodness me, they won't be inviting us back on Samway
- 11:24Speaker 1: what first time? And we're punsing Richarlison. We're punting Richarldson.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Let's go to Manchester United three Aston Villa one then
- 11:31Speaker 1: and you know we'll have the conversation about Erlin hard
- 11:33Speaker 1: and later on. But in previously, over the course of
- 11:36Speaker 1: this season and in many seasons, we've talked about him
- 11:38Speaker 1: being a perma cap. We've talked about you know, you
- 11:40Speaker 1: put the armband on Harland and you set and forget. Well,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm saying Bruno fer Andanz is that guy. Now he's
- 11:46Speaker 1: that guy. He's reached ten double digit halls in FPL
- 11:48Speaker 1: this season. Now, that's the most of any player. He's
- 11:51Speaker 1: sixteenth assists of the season. That's for short of the
- 11:54Speaker 1: all time Premier League assist record, and that's his hundredths
- 11:57Speaker 1: for United as well, by the way, So he's now
- 11:59Speaker 1: breaking records. He's he's coming up against these milestones I
- 12:03Speaker 1: noticed under Carrick actually in the last few weeks. He's
- 12:05Speaker 1: just got this. He's defending a lot less, right, He's
- 12:08Speaker 1: not getting as many defensive contributions, He's not being asked
- 12:10Speaker 1: to do much defensive work. Carrock's almost kind of gone
- 12:12Speaker 1: in and gone, yep, you're our best player. Go do
- 12:15Speaker 1: it right, go directly. Yeah. Absolutely, And he's been fantastic
- 12:19Speaker 1: as his sixth consecutive double digit hole on home turf,
- 12:22Speaker 1: he's got like ten ten, ten thirteen, ten thirteen or like,
- 12:25Speaker 1: he's got ridiculous hauls. So I'm just saying Bruno Fernandez
- 12:29Speaker 1: is now kind of perma captain in FPR and I'm
- 12:31Speaker 1: certainly looking at him as a captaincy option for game
- 12:33Speaker 1: week thirty one. What do you make of the game
- 12:35Speaker 1: and do you agree with the whole kind of Bruno
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know, default captain narrative that I'm trying to spin hit. Yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Absolutely, And I think at a time when we're struggling
- 12:43Speaker 2: a little bit with captain c because Harlan hasn't exactly
- 12:45Speaker 2: been performing. We haven't really had anyone from Arsenal that's
- 12:49Speaker 2: been consistently their best player and that you could hand
- 12:51Speaker 2: the arm ben too late in previous seasons maybe it
- 12:53Speaker 2: was soccer or you know, you had an option there.
- 12:57Speaker 2: We haven't had the Salah that we did last season.
- 13:00Speaker 2: We could go to either col Palmer has been out injured.
- 13:02Speaker 2: So all of these kind of like important premium assets
- 13:05Speaker 2: that you maybe would have handed the arm ban two
- 13:06Speaker 2: before just haven't been consistently there. Well, look over at
- 13:10Speaker 2: Manchester United and you've got a guy that's been consistently there. Yes,
- 13:14Speaker 2: he had a couple of games out through injury earlier
- 13:16Speaker 2: on in the season, but he's consistently there. When he starts,
- 13:18Speaker 2: you know he's starting, and he's paying ninety minutes. He's
- 13:21Speaker 2: involved in everything good that Manchester United do and when
- 13:25Speaker 2: you're looking at ninety minute men, I don't think there's
- 13:27Speaker 2: much better. And so for me, I agree. I think
- 13:29Speaker 2: he is the one now that I kind of always
- 13:31Speaker 2: bust team my captain on. He's the one that I
- 13:34Speaker 2: start with it there and then somebody has to be
- 13:36Speaker 2: really impressive in order to take the armband away from
- 13:39Speaker 2: him now, like they have to be really good or
- 13:42Speaker 2: have a really good fixture that is worth making that
- 13:45Speaker 2: move away from Bruno because it does feel like you're
- 13:49Speaker 2: constantly getting something from him, and if you don't get
- 13:51Speaker 2: the attacking returns, then you get the defensive contribution points.
- 13:55Speaker 2: You also get the bonus points regularly with him as well,
- 13:57Speaker 2: so we have this side of him and then obviously
- 14:00Speaker 2: you have the set piece threat as well, which adds
- 14:02Speaker 2: to his appeal in FBL. So yeah, very much a
- 14:05Speaker 2: fan of the Bruno Fernandez captaincy outside of him, though
- 14:09Speaker 2: I think it's difficult In Manchester United a few weeks back,
- 14:11Speaker 2: it was Enbomo that everyone was going to go to
- 14:14Speaker 2: over the last couple we haven't really seen the consistency
- 14:16Speaker 2: from him. Caunya this week with something, but we haven't
- 14:20Speaker 2: seen that previously from him. Casimiro, weirdly is probably the
- 14:23Speaker 2: one that's been the most consistent outside of Bruno. That's
- 14:27Speaker 2: back to back goals now from him. Only three midfielders
- 14:30Speaker 2: can better. He's forty one points across the last seven
- 14:33Speaker 2: game weeks, three goals and this is four defensive contribution.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Points this time that he's assisted Casimira, right, that's that's
- 14:40Speaker 1: the most any player's assisted in another We're getting to
- 14:42Speaker 1: Canaan Sun levels here with it.
- 14:43Speaker 2: So much happened on a minute. Let's not go too far,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but in a way, isn't this is exactly what we want.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Right when we're an FPL and we're looking for players,
- 14:52Speaker 2: you want the ones that play really nicely together, know
- 14:54Speaker 2: each other really well, that kind of teamwork because you
- 14:56Speaker 2: know then that you're likely to get both of those things.
- 14:59Speaker 2: A bit like when we have Canaan so and you
- 15:00Speaker 2: would invest in both of them in fl because you
- 15:02Speaker 2: knew that they were always going to be part of
- 15:04Speaker 2: the attacking returns together. Well, Bruno and Casimiro definitely feel
- 15:07Speaker 2: like that, and for me right now, like there will
- 15:10Speaker 2: be managers that are looking for a cheap fifth midfielder
- 15:14Speaker 2: and Casimiro at five point seven million is fitting that
- 15:17Speaker 2: bill really really nicely because he's in that conversation. I
- 15:20Speaker 2: guess with the likes of Elliot Anderson, who maybe we'll
- 15:22Speaker 2: come to you later potentially Harry Wilson, but you're looking
- 15:27Speaker 2: at the cheaper options at that end. Now, we're not
- 15:29Speaker 2: getting much more consistency from those guys than you are
- 15:32Speaker 2: from Casamiro and they only have the Premier League to
- 15:35Speaker 2: contend with. There's no FA Cup, there's no league action.
- 15:38Speaker 1: That's what Casimiro is doing well, isn't it. Because he's
- 15:40Speaker 1: got that rest he can afford to you know, he
- 15:43Speaker 1: hasn't got playing mid week. He can just sort of
- 15:45Speaker 1: train as much as he needs to and get be
- 15:47Speaker 1: ready for the weekends. Yeah.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Absolutely. And then Cesco. We had a conversation over the
- 15:51Speaker 2: weekend about how is Cesco a player that you can
- 15:54Speaker 2: invest in? And I said to you, why not, just
- 15:57Speaker 2: because he's getting benched? Why not? You know, we've got
- 16:00Speaker 2: five goals and seven league matches. I think it's seven
- 16:03Speaker 2: in nine now in all competitions. All right, Sometimes he's
- 16:07Speaker 2: coming off the bench, but does that actually matter. If
- 16:10Speaker 2: he's coming off the bench but regularly returning, that's more
- 16:13Speaker 2: than we're getting from players that are starting every week.
- 16:16Speaker 2: So I don't know. I quite like it as a
- 16:18Speaker 2: bit of a differential punt up top. You know, if
- 16:21Speaker 2: we're talking about Richtarlison, there's a differential punt in there.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I think Cesco's got to be in that conversation as well.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he's only seven point three million as well. I
- 16:30Speaker 1: have to say I agree. I think I think great
- 16:32Speaker 1: mentality from him right, because there's a lot of players
- 16:34Speaker 1: that you know, we'll come off the bench, score goals
- 16:36Speaker 1: and be like, well I expect to be in the team.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I should be in the team. But you know, Carrott
- 16:41Speaker 1: will roll out and Bmo in that position when he
- 16:43Speaker 1: feels it's right tactically, and he'll play Cesco when he
- 16:45Speaker 1: thinks it's right tactically. And no, I haven't seen anything
- 16:48Speaker 1: other I haven't seen anything from Cesco. You know, he's
- 16:50Speaker 1: not wingy and he's not on exit I'm putting anything about.
- 16:52Speaker 1: He's just getting his head down, doing the right things
- 16:55Speaker 1: and coming on and he's ready whenever Manchester United Carrently
- 16:58Speaker 1: to call him so great mentality, I love it. I
- 17:00Speaker 1: think it's very very good from a Villa perspective though. Listen,
- 17:04Speaker 1: they've just managed seven goals in their last ten Premier
- 17:06Speaker 1: League games, which is the fewest of any team, so
- 17:08Speaker 1: they're really struggling up top and Watkins again a bit ineffective.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And I have to say, for a few weeks you've
- 17:14Speaker 1: not been a massive Morgan Rodgers fan. We've been trying
- 17:16Speaker 1: to get We've both been trying to get Morgan Rogers
- 17:18Speaker 1: out of our team. But the reason we've kept him,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and I think the reason a lot of FPR managers
- 17:22Speaker 1: have kept him is because he plays in game week
- 17:24Speaker 1: thirty one. He's not been a priority transer out. Not
- 17:27Speaker 1: only does he play, but he plays west Ham at home,
- 17:29Speaker 1: which I mean on papers decent paper's a decent looking game.
- 17:33Speaker 1: But west Ham seriously improved over the last few weeks,
- 17:35Speaker 1: so who's to say they can't go to Villa Park
- 17:37Speaker 1: and get something west Ham? So I don't know. The
- 17:40Speaker 1: fixtures remain good even after game week thirty one. It's
- 17:43Speaker 1: Forest Sunderland, Fulham Spurs Burnley. You know the narrative is
- 17:46Speaker 1: going to be there to keep Rogers, right. I think
- 17:48Speaker 1: if you've got anybody else you could probably sell. But
- 17:51Speaker 1: with those fixtures, he's going to be a tough sell.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Or if you did have a wild card in thirty two,
- 17:56Speaker 1: if you're in my position and the same position as
- 17:58Speaker 1: a lot of FPR managers playing the carding thirty tw
- 18:00Speaker 1: would you keep Rogers or would that be the end
- 18:02Speaker 1: for you? Do? You know?
- 18:03Speaker 2: It's really difficult because in game week twenty five we
- 18:06Speaker 2: had a ten pointer from him. Outside of that, we've
- 18:08Speaker 2: had two to one, two two two two. There was
- 18:11Speaker 2: an eight point two against Newcastle, then it was two
- 18:14Speaker 2: three five one. Like, there's just not been the highs
- 18:17Speaker 2: from Rogers. And we're not talking about an insignificant price
- 18:21Speaker 2: investment where at seven point five million, So he is
- 18:23Speaker 2: a player that is a relatively big part of your
- 18:27Speaker 2: team budget and we're paying for avility that you would
- 18:30Speaker 2: expect to be doing a lot better than they are.
- 18:32Speaker 2: In recent weeks. Their forms as massively dipped, and that's
- 18:36Speaker 2: in part because they're just one they're not creating enough,
- 18:39Speaker 2: and two when they are creating, they're not finishing those chances.
- 18:41Speaker 2: So that's the difficulty with Morgan Rodgers. It's not all
- 18:44Speaker 2: Rogers's fault. It's not like I'm sat here going wow, Rogers,
- 18:47Speaker 2: you've been used to You're not creating any chances, you're
- 18:49Speaker 2: not scoring goals. He is creating some chances, but they're
- 18:52Speaker 2: not being scored. And also he's not then getting the
- 18:55Speaker 2: opportunities to score the goals because the others around him
- 18:58Speaker 2: aren't creating as much. Now I thought this might be
- 19:00Speaker 2: better game for aston Villa We're starting to see a
- 19:03Speaker 2: couple of their players come back, and I thought that
- 19:05Speaker 2: might strengthen them, and that might improve the way that
- 19:07Speaker 2: we are with Morgan Rodgers, and maybe over the coming
- 19:10Speaker 2: weeks that improvement will be seen. But I wasn't impressed
- 19:15Speaker 2: by them now. The problem is, as you say, we
- 19:17Speaker 2: go into the next few weeks, and I mean, they're
- 19:19Speaker 2: going to have an impact on what happens in the
- 19:21Speaker 2: relegation battle, aren't they, Because they face everybody they're trying
- 19:23Speaker 2: to get out of the relegation zone in west ham
- 19:26Speaker 2: Forest Burs. You know, they've got all of those teams
- 19:29Speaker 2: to play between now and the end of the season.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So let's let's see. I think for me this week,
- 19:34Speaker 2: given the blanking teams, given that I have arsenal assets
- 19:38Speaker 2: and man city assets and managers out there will have
- 19:41Speaker 2: palace assets potentially some Wolves ones as well, selling Morgan
- 19:45Speaker 2: Rogers does not feel like a priority. If I was
- 19:48Speaker 2: wild carding, I still don't think he'd feel like a
- 19:50Speaker 2: priority sell because I think you'll be looking to upgrade
- 19:53Speaker 2: players that don't have a fixture at all this week
- 19:56Speaker 2: rather than taking out somebody that does all.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Right, very good. Let's moving on Chelsea nil Newcastle one,
- 20:02Speaker 1: and as a Jacques Pedro owner and an FBL player
- 20:06Speaker 1: that played Enzo Fernandez this week, this one had a
- 20:09Speaker 1: bit of a detrimental impact on my rank. I can't lie.
- 20:13Speaker 1: This is one I wasn't I didn't foresee. I thought
- 20:15Speaker 1: this would be a home win. Actually, but we have
- 20:17Speaker 1: to talk about one clean sheet in fourteen league matches
- 20:19Speaker 1: now for Chelsea, right, So definite problems at that end
- 20:24Speaker 1: of the pitch. Doesn't seem to be too many problems
- 20:26Speaker 1: despite the blank here. It doesn't seem to be too
- 20:28Speaker 1: many problems at the other end of the pitch. They're
- 20:29Speaker 1: top for XG since Rasenia came in by some distance,
- 20:33Speaker 1: by the way, so they are creating despite you know,
- 20:35Speaker 1: like I say, the blank here. So what do we
- 20:38Speaker 1: make of this game? Chelsea seemed to be going for
- 20:40Speaker 1: all out attack, all out flair and jar Pedro in
- 20:43Speaker 1: previous weeks has been great. A lot of FPL managers
- 20:45Speaker 1: bought him in seven point seven million. He's not going
- 20:48Speaker 1: to break the bank. But he kind of had any
- 20:51Speaker 1: really had one meaningful attempted didn't. It was a kind
- 20:53Speaker 1: of a late looping header, wasn't it. Towards the end
- 20:55Speaker 1: of the game, and he had three other shots that
- 20:57Speaker 1: were blocked. So do want to discuss nuke because I've
- 21:00Speaker 1: got really nice looking fixture in game week thirty one,
- 21:02Speaker 1: but let's do Chelsea first. Seem to be creating XG.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Jean Pedro transferred in by a lot of FBI managers
- 21:08Speaker 1: blanking this week. How do you feel about Chelsea in
- 21:10Speaker 1: a minute? Do you know?
- 21:11Speaker 2: This was the game I was most worried about. I
- 21:13Speaker 2: didn't have any assets in this game, don't have jel Pedro,
- 21:16Speaker 2: and that over the last couple of weeks has been
- 21:19Speaker 2: Who's been painful not having jeal Pedro, to be honest,
- 21:21Speaker 2: because every time he does something you see the rank
- 21:24Speaker 2: topp all every time. However, going into this one, I
- 21:29Speaker 2: was concerned. I was worried about Newcastle's defensive abilities. They
- 21:34Speaker 2: haven't been that solid defensively over recent weeks. I was
- 21:37Speaker 2: worried that we might see some rotation around the important
- 21:40Speaker 2: Champions League game that they have next week against Barcelona,
- 21:45Speaker 2: and so I was looking at this game thinking this
- 21:47Speaker 2: is a problem and I need to try and find
- 21:48Speaker 2: a root to jel Pedro, and I didn't really have
- 21:50Speaker 2: one without selling Earlan Harlan, and I wasn't prepared to
- 21:53Speaker 2: do that ahead of his fixture against west Ham, which
- 21:55Speaker 2: we'll talk about later. Before this game, Pedro had scored
- 22:00Speaker 2: eight goals and six assists in eight matches like that
- 22:03Speaker 2: is that was yeah, absolutely, But in this one, as
- 22:07Speaker 2: you say, didn't really do anything. And defensively, I always
- 22:10Speaker 2: worry about Chelsea, despite what you were saying about only
- 22:12Speaker 2: one clean sheen in fourteen. When they do get one,
- 22:15Speaker 2: it does hurt your rank, because again I didn't have
- 22:17Speaker 2: one there. Now obviously we've subsequently heard that now James
- 22:21Speaker 2: is going to be out for several weeks. Defensively, they
- 22:24Speaker 2: are not as good when Reece James is not on
- 22:26Speaker 2: the pitch, and so I do worry now that if
- 22:28Speaker 2: you've got the likes of Sanchez or Chaliber that maybe
- 22:31Speaker 2: now is the time that you need to start thinking
- 22:33Speaker 2: about an exit plan for them, although I wouldn't do
- 22:36Speaker 2: that ahead of the blank because again I think you're
- 22:38Speaker 2: going to have bigger issues to deal with a head
- 22:39Speaker 2: of the blank game week, but it's probably one for
- 22:41Speaker 2: dealing with in sort of thirty two onwards. I still
- 22:45Speaker 2: want our own jail Pedro despite this result, I still
- 22:49Speaker 2: think of you. Yeah, I don't know.
- 22:51Speaker 1: The pictures get a lot more difficult from thirty two
- 22:53Speaker 1: and wasn't it It's City and then man United at
- 22:55Speaker 1: home right and away who are defensively low key doing
- 22:58Speaker 1: pretty well, particularly out the amate forest at home in
- 23:01Speaker 1: thirty five you'd won in But I don't know, you know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: despite the form that he's shown in recent weeks, I
- 23:08Speaker 1: think it's a case for not having him, Or am
- 23:10Speaker 1: I mad?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Maybe? I mean, I think the performances over the recent
- 23:15Speaker 2: weeks show that he has got the potential to do
- 23:18Speaker 2: well against any owners and I think that's the problem,
- 23:22Speaker 2: isn't it is that you're is that risk redd strategy?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Isn't It's like, okay, well I could go without him,
- 23:26Speaker 2: and I could take a punt on the Cessco's and
- 23:28Speaker 2: the Charlassans and those players that we've talked about earlier
- 23:31Speaker 2: and not have him, But it's Everton up in the
- 23:34Speaker 2: blank game week. He is going to be not just
- 23:36Speaker 2: very heavily owned, but a very popular captaincy in the
- 23:38Speaker 2: absence of Arsenal and Manchester City assets. That's going to
- 23:43Speaker 2: hurt even more not having him. So again it comes
- 23:45Speaker 2: down to where are your boundaries at the moment. Do
- 23:50Speaker 2: you want to go and really attack it? And if
- 23:52Speaker 2: you do, then probably jub Pedgo isn't the one. If
- 23:54Speaker 2: you want to play a little bit safer, have a
- 23:56Speaker 2: little bit of protection of rank and go different elsewhere,
- 23:58Speaker 2: then I think he probably still is the player to
- 24:00Speaker 2: go to. But outside of him at Chelsea, there isn't
- 24:03Speaker 2: really anybody else that I would want to invest in
- 24:05Speaker 2: right now. I do think the Reech James injury will
- 24:07Speaker 2: have a big impact on them, all.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Right, very good and Newcastle mentioned a second ago that
- 24:12Speaker 1: they do have a nice fixture in game week thirty one.
- 24:14Speaker 1: They've got Sundland at home, you know, a real out
- 24:16Speaker 1: of form Sunderland as well. At the moment, I think
- 24:18Speaker 1: the season might be catching up with them, and they've
- 24:20Speaker 1: got a lot of injuries Sunderland right, Maybe we'll discuss
- 24:22Speaker 1: that later on, but Anthony Gordon looks to have that
- 24:25Speaker 1: kind of center forward spot sewing up right now and
- 24:28Speaker 1: he's returned three of the last five game weeks. He's
- 24:30Speaker 1: on penalties as we know, Like I say, a nice fixture,
- 24:33Speaker 1: we'll all be looking for potentially a Semnio or a
- 24:36Speaker 1: Rice replacement because both of those guys won't play in
- 24:40Speaker 1: game week thirty one, you could do a lot worse
- 24:42Speaker 1: than Anthony Gordon, right, And from a defensive perspective, that's
- 24:45Speaker 1: their first clean sheet in fifteen games and all competitions Newcastle,
- 24:49Speaker 1: so they've not really been defensively that solid for us.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But I think you'd back them in game week thirty
- 24:55Speaker 1: one against Sunderland. So could someone like a Malik Chow
- 24:58Speaker 1: who we know is also a threat from set piece
- 25:00Speaker 1: as we've seen that over the course of this season.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Could he come into our thinking. But the one I'd
- 25:04Speaker 1: like to discuss is Anthony Gordon because I think he's
- 25:08Speaker 1: going to get some attention I think going into GA
- 25:10Speaker 1: week thirty one.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Yeah, eleven points this week. That's his highest score of
- 25:13Speaker 2: the season so far from him because obviously he gets
- 25:15Speaker 2: the bonus points as well in this one. Missed out
- 25:18Speaker 2: in the Champions League because he was ill, so maybe
- 25:20Speaker 2: that hadn't impact. It allowed him to have the midweek
- 25:22Speaker 2: off whereas some of the others maybe didn't, and obviously
- 25:24Speaker 2: the Chelsea team didn't either. I think what you said
- 25:28Speaker 2: is interesting because when you look at the fixtures that
- 25:29Speaker 2: NUCOSS will have coming up over the next three weeks.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Obviously it's the Derby in thirty one. Now Derby's can
- 25:35Speaker 2: go all kinds of ways, and we saw we saw
- 25:37Speaker 2: earlier on in the season Sunderland beating Newcastle in the
- 25:40Speaker 2: reverse of this. Now, obviously Sunderland were in a very
- 25:43Speaker 2: different moment. It was their home fixture, but nonetheless they
- 25:47Speaker 2: have got one over on them earlier on in the season.
- 25:49Speaker 2: After that is Crystal Palace, Bournemouth before Arsenal and then
- 25:52Speaker 2: Brighton and they're nototting of Forest Walls and Fulham to
- 25:55Speaker 2: end the season. It's actually a decent block of fixtures obviously, no,
- 25:58Speaker 2: it's only really that US game there is is above
- 26:01Speaker 2: a three on the fixture difficulty ratings. So Newcastle do
- 26:05Speaker 2: feel like a team to invest in. I'm kind of
- 26:08Speaker 2: intrigued as to how the Champions League plays out though,
- 26:10Speaker 2: because obviously they've got a very big match away in
- 26:12Speaker 2: Barcelona in midweek and so we just have to wait
- 26:15Speaker 2: and see how that goes, I think, and make sure
- 26:17Speaker 2: that they all get through that and then going going
- 26:20Speaker 2: into the weekend can make a decision around around investment.
- 26:23Speaker 2: For me again, though, I think if you're going to
- 26:26Speaker 2: go for an attacker. It's Anthony Gordon or no one
- 26:28Speaker 2: at Newcastle, because I don't see the consistency from anybody else.
- 26:31Speaker 2: I agree, but I don't mind the child pick at
- 26:33Speaker 2: the back either. I think with the pictures that they
- 26:35Speaker 2: have coming up, there should definitely be some clean sheets.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I mean Sunderland, Crystal Palace Born with all of them
- 26:40Speaker 2: failing to score in game week thirty and then the
- 26:44Speaker 2: next three opponents. So there's maybe a potential to go
- 26:48Speaker 2: for somebody like a child this week, particularly if you're
- 26:50Speaker 2: losing a couple of defenders to the blank game week
- 26:52Speaker 2: in the likes of Gabrielle or Gayhee.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, very good. All right, let's move it on Arsenal
- 26:57Speaker 1: to Everton Neil. And even as I suppose that, even
- 27:00Speaker 1: as a Spurs fan, you have to say, what a
- 27:03Speaker 1: moment for the young sixteen. You know, what a moment
- 27:05Speaker 1: for young Max Downman. There's the four point two in
- 27:07Speaker 1: an attacker on FPIL. I don't think any of us
- 27:09Speaker 1: are going to go there, right, but talk about super
- 27:13Speaker 1: sub because obviously the goal will get the headlines. The
- 27:15Speaker 1: fact that he kind of Pickford was Arpani sort of
- 27:17Speaker 1: ran the length of the pitch to slot home his
- 27:20Speaker 1: first goal and become the youngest ever scorer in the
- 27:23Speaker 1: Premier League. But let me tell you the pre assist,
- 27:25Speaker 1: the assist for the assist. If you like the ball
- 27:27Speaker 1: in that hits, I think it's Encapier that. Then Joccas
- 27:30Speaker 1: scores to open the scoring for Arsenal and break the deadlock.
- 27:33Speaker 1: He made the difference. Max downmen, you have to say
- 27:36Speaker 1: Arteta bringing him on in the game of that magnitude
- 27:40Speaker 1: in an atmosphere like that at nil nil, I think takes,
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, takes some nerves of steel from Arteta to
- 27:45Speaker 1: do it. But for him to come on and change
- 27:47Speaker 1: the game, Max down and take about absolutely sensational stuff.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I think if you look at the XG of this game,
- 27:52Speaker 1: it looks like Arsenal were fairly convincing winners. I think
- 27:54Speaker 1: they racked up two point seven against Everton's one point
- 27:57Speaker 1: zero five, so just over one for Everton. But I'm
- 28:00Speaker 1: here to telly that wasn't really the case, right If
- 28:02Speaker 1: you look at the two goals that they scored, Dowmond's
- 28:04Speaker 1: was clearly out an open goal right from not far out,
- 28:08Speaker 1: and then Jockarettes largely was an open goal as well,
- 28:11Speaker 1: because the reason it hit Hincapier on the way over
- 28:13Speaker 1: from Max Damon was because Pickford had got a bit
- 28:15Speaker 1: of a finger on it, but you know he was
- 28:17Speaker 1: out the game, Pickford right at that stage, Jocres taps
- 28:19Speaker 1: into an empty net. So those two goals were very
- 28:22Speaker 1: very high XG and everything else, you know, the rest
- 28:25Speaker 1: of the Arsenal shots, and there was twenty three other
- 28:27Speaker 1: shots that they had in this game amounted to just
- 28:30Speaker 1: zero point eight XG combined. So twenty three shots nor
- 28:33Speaker 1: point eight XG combined. I think, for example, ESA had
- 28:36Speaker 1: six shots from outside the box, right, so this was
- 28:38Speaker 1: kind of long range speculative stuff from Arsenal. Everton did
- 28:42Speaker 1: a really good job keeping them at bay and in
- 28:45Speaker 1: the end, like I say, it was Dowmond that come
- 28:47Speaker 1: on and made the difference. Now, I don't know how
- 28:49Speaker 1: much we want to discuss Arsenal here, because of course
- 28:51Speaker 1: they don't have the game in game week thirty one
- 28:53Speaker 1: because of the League Cup final against City, But just
- 28:57Speaker 1: a quick comment or two about, you know, the Arsenal
- 28:59Speaker 1: ass that we've got Gabrielle Rice. There'll be a few
- 29:02Speaker 1: that have got Timber who now looks like he might
- 29:04Speaker 1: be injured. There might even be a few jacresoners out there.
- 29:08Speaker 1: If you've got those arsenal players, who do you keep
- 29:10Speaker 1: and who do you sell? What's your kind of priority litter?
- 29:12Speaker 1: For Game Week thirty one.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I'm Dan's just one now, Just Gabrielle. I've been selling
- 29:16Speaker 2: him over the last couple of weeks, and Gabrielle, I
- 29:18Speaker 2: think is an absolute hold. I mean, obviously it gets
- 29:20Speaker 2: the key sheet this one too defensive contribution, he gets
- 29:22Speaker 2: some of the bonus points. He's now on one hundred
- 29:25Speaker 2: and seventy three points for the season. That's forty six
- 29:28Speaker 2: more than he's ever had by game week thirty in
- 29:31Speaker 2: a season, and it's also four points more than Robertson
- 29:34Speaker 2: had at the same point in the twenty eighteen twenty
- 29:38Speaker 2: nineteen season, when he set the record for the most
- 29:40Speaker 2: points ever by defender in a season with two hundred
- 29:42Speaker 2: and thirty. So he's absolutely on track to be the
- 29:46Speaker 2: highest scoring defender ever in the game as a result.
- 29:49Speaker 2: For goodness sake, don't sell Gabrielle. Just put him on
- 29:52Speaker 2: your bench, because what if you sell him, You're just
- 29:55Speaker 2: going to have to buy him straight back again. For
- 29:56Speaker 2: Game Week thirty two, and then you're going to have
- 29:59Speaker 2: an issue because you probably going to have some value
- 30:01Speaker 2: in him that you lose because most managers will not
- 30:03Speaker 2: sell Gabrielle, so pop him on the bench either. Also,
- 30:06Speaker 2: assets I've been selling over the last few weeks, and
- 30:08Speaker 2: in fact into this one I sold Declan Rice because
- 30:11Speaker 2: we just haven't seen we haven't seen the same level
- 30:15Speaker 2: of returns from Rice over the last couple of weeks
- 30:17Speaker 2: as we were seeing earlier on in the season. So
- 30:19Speaker 2: when I look back at my team from early on
- 30:21Speaker 2: in the season, he was regularly returning. Now at points
- 30:25Speaker 2: they were a little bit lucky those returns, Like we
- 30:27Speaker 2: had the corner that went in and the opponent hand
- 30:31Speaker 2: balled it that led to a penalty that led to
- 30:33Speaker 2: an assist. We had the corner that went in and
- 30:35Speaker 2: was headed in for an own goal. Like, yes, you
- 30:38Speaker 2: can say that they were lucky, and maybe they were.
- 30:40Speaker 1: But over the.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Last few weeks, I mean, we had obviously nothing against
- 30:44Speaker 2: Everton bar the clean sheet. We had nothing against Brighton
- 30:46Speaker 2: bar the clean sheet.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Point.
- 30:48Speaker 2: We had an assist against Chelsea in twenty eight. We
- 30:52Speaker 2: had some defensive contributions against Spurs in twenty seven, but
- 30:56Speaker 2: they've been like low level returns for Rice and as
- 30:58Speaker 2: a result, I kind of felt like this a good
- 31:00Speaker 2: moment to take a punt on somebody else in midfield,
- 31:03Speaker 2: and I went for Tavoniir, who will talk about later,
- 31:05Speaker 2: but I think he can be and he can be
- 31:07Speaker 2: one that you can sell because I'm not convinced that
- 31:09Speaker 2: you'll want them back, and I think what you have
- 31:10Speaker 2: to do with your arsenal assets is look at them
- 31:12Speaker 2: and go, will I want to own you again in
- 31:15Speaker 2: game week thirty two, And if the answer is yes,
- 31:17Speaker 2: put them to your bench. If the answer is no,
- 31:20Speaker 2: sell them ahead of the blank.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, No, I agree. I think he's probably
- 31:25Speaker 1: going to be on the chopping block for me rights
- 31:27Speaker 1: just because I think there's lots of other nice options
- 31:28Speaker 1: that we can go to in midfield for game week
- 31:31Speaker 1: thirty one, particularly if I'm wild carding in thirty two.
- 31:33Speaker 1: There's a couple of nice punts that I want to take.
- 31:35Speaker 1: I think in thirty one. Quick shout out to Everton,
- 31:37Speaker 1: though they listen, they created chances, they defended well in
- 31:40Speaker 1: this game. That's not an easy game against Chelsea in
- 31:42Speaker 1: game week thirty one, I won't be an easy game
- 31:44Speaker 1: for Chelsea either. That's a tough one to call. Actually,
- 31:46Speaker 1: I find that a tough one to call. Despite the
- 31:48Speaker 1: blank here against Arsenal A kid and drewsby Hall. Again,
- 31:52Speaker 1: he's a favorite of mine from earlier on in the season.
- 31:54Speaker 1: He's five point one million, so still a nice budget
- 31:56Speaker 1: enabler for attacking returns in six matches, you know, spite
- 32:00Speaker 1: this blank, and still think he looked pretty threatening in
- 32:03Speaker 1: this game. So I think if you wanted to go
- 32:06Speaker 1: in on Everton, he's probably the one. Or is there
- 32:08Speaker 1: anybody else from Everton that caught your eye?
- 32:10Speaker 2: No, I think he is probably the one. What are
- 32:12Speaker 2: you going to do with Tarkovski now? I guess it's
- 32:14Speaker 2: a wait and see because obviously for a lot of
- 32:16Speaker 2: managers that have him will have been disappointed to see
- 32:19Speaker 2: him maybe not playing in this one, but not because
- 32:22Speaker 2: they played him in this one. I suspect, like you,
- 32:23Speaker 2: most managers would have put him on the bench for
- 32:25Speaker 2: this game against Arsenal. But for managers that have Tarkovski,
- 32:29Speaker 2: you'll have been wanting him for blank game week thirty
- 32:32Speaker 2: one because he helps you to cover out the defenders
- 32:34Speaker 2: that you have going out. So I guess it's just
- 32:36Speaker 2: a wait and see with Tarco and see what Moys
- 32:39Speaker 2: has got to say later on in the week about
- 32:41Speaker 2: his availability for the weekend.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much is. I held on to him for weeks,
- 32:46Speaker 1: mainly for game week twenty nine when they did when
- 32:48Speaker 1: they played Burnley at home and did well, didn't he
- 32:50Speaker 1: got the guy on a clean sheet and happy day,
- 32:52Speaker 1: he's got a double digit haul. But yeah, for this
- 32:55Speaker 1: game against Arsenal, I benched him, so for him not
- 32:57Speaker 1: to show up was kind of like, you know, Okay,
- 32:58Speaker 1: well I've benched him, so that's fine. What am I
- 33:01Speaker 1: going to do with him going forward? Yeahs, it'd be
- 33:03Speaker 1: a bit of a luxury cell for me for game
- 33:05Speaker 1: week thirty one, like I said, because I've got plenty
- 33:07Speaker 1: of Arsenal and man City assets that could make way
- 33:09Speaker 1: or probably do need to make way ahead ahead of
- 33:11Speaker 1: a wild card in thirty two.
- 33:13Speaker 2: But if he is.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Injured, then you know, I probably got probably got the
- 33:16Speaker 1: opportunity to do one luxury transfer or even if I
- 33:19Speaker 1: wanted to take a hit, I could do, but I'd
- 33:21Speaker 1: have to I'd have to really believe in the defender
- 33:24Speaker 1: that I'm bringing in, maybe a Fulham defender, maybe a
- 33:26Speaker 1: Newcastle defender. I don't know. Does he stay the course
- 33:29Speaker 1: of me in game week thirty two is wildcard? I
- 33:32Speaker 1: doubt it. Sound to be honest, I doubt it. With Brentford
- 33:34Speaker 1: away in thirty two, and then it's the Merseyside Derby
- 33:36Speaker 1: in thirty three, west Ham and improve west Ham away
- 33:39Speaker 1: in thirty four before man City in thirty five doesn't
- 33:43Speaker 1: strike me as a run where I'd want to keep Tarkovski.
- 33:45Speaker 1: So yeah, reluctantly, because he's been a right for me
- 33:48Speaker 1: over many many weeks. For this season, he's probably a cell. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: probably a self for me, Tarkovski. Let's move it on
- 33:53Speaker 1: to west Ham one Manchester City one. And that narrative
- 33:57Speaker 1: that I was just discussing there about Arsenal having you know,
- 34:00Speaker 1: a couple of big opportunities for XG but mostly kind
- 34:03Speaker 1: of innocuous low XG shots, I think you can probably
- 34:07Speaker 1: say the same thing about Manchester City here. They had
- 34:09Speaker 1: an XG in this game of two just over two
- 34:11Speaker 1: two point zero one actually, and that was spread over
- 34:14Speaker 1: twenty four efforts, so twenty four efforts on GOO and
- 34:17Speaker 1: two XG. So again a bit like Arsenal was a
- 34:20Speaker 1: bit kind of like bits and pieces, opportunities, long shots,
- 34:24Speaker 1: not really many big chances, and of course early in
- 34:27Speaker 1: Harland again in this game with another blank, which I
- 34:29Speaker 1: have to say, as a Harlan seller going into this week,
- 34:32Speaker 1: maybe very uncomfortable. I didn't like watching. I know a
- 34:34Speaker 1: lot of FPL managers sold it, but I didn't like it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I did not like it. I was behind the sofa
- 34:39Speaker 1: for much of this game. But you know it's been
- 34:42Speaker 1: not since game week seventeen as Harland's non penalty XG
- 34:46Speaker 1: I have been above one in a single game, right,
- 34:48Speaker 1: So that's what that's the stats that are backing up
- 34:51Speaker 1: what our eyes are seeing. Right, Yes, he's not bringing
- 34:53Speaker 1: home the FPL points, So we start to look at
- 34:55Speaker 1: how he's performing and yeah, he's not really getting the chances.
- 34:58Speaker 1: He's not really getting the under in stats that suggest
- 35:01Speaker 1: that things are going to change. And we've spoken on
- 35:03Speaker 1: podcasts on here before about this kind of split striker
- 35:06Speaker 1: system with Semeno. We have Churkey as well in there
- 35:09Speaker 1: at the weekend, who potentially can take some of that
- 35:11Speaker 1: gold burden away from Harland. The team just doesn't feel
- 35:14Speaker 1: like it's built around him anymore. I don't feel like
- 35:17Speaker 1: he's going to be banging in a hat trick anytime soon.
- 35:19Speaker 1: And to that end one of the reasons I sold him.
- 35:21Speaker 1: And of course he's got the blank in thirty one.
- 35:24Speaker 1: What are you going to do as a Harland? You
- 35:25Speaker 1: still got Harland, right, and you're going to not obviously
- 35:27Speaker 1: not got the wild hid in thirty two. So no,
- 35:29Speaker 1: you're holding him through.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I mean, we've spent a lot of this podcast talking
- 35:33Speaker 2: about other options up top the cesscos there are Charlison's.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm going to Charlison, I can see it.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Maybe maybe you'll talk about Darren Bowen in a minute,
- 35:42Speaker 2: because you know, like there are other forwards in the
- 35:44Speaker 2: game that are returning that obviously I've been talking about
- 35:47Speaker 2: job Pedro as well, and in the fact I don't have him,
- 35:49Speaker 2: there are other forwards in the game that I could,
- 35:52Speaker 2: I could and would like to go to for game
- 35:55Speaker 2: week thirty one, I also still have Cooepy Jr. Who,
- 35:58Speaker 2: despite the fact that he is actually regularly starting at
- 36:01Speaker 2: the moment, isn't really returning anything when he does. He's
- 36:04Speaker 2: always there, he's starting the games, but we're not really
- 36:07Speaker 2: seeing any returns from him. In fact, there was his
- 36:11Speaker 2: seventh start in ten game weeks. So maybe I'm alright
- 36:13Speaker 2: with him, but I would like to change up my
- 36:15Speaker 2: forward line my fear with Harlan, and some people say, well,
- 36:19Speaker 2: you know, you've got to think about the price that yeah,
- 36:21Speaker 2: all right right now. If I sold him this moment,
- 36:24Speaker 2: I'd lose point two in him. My suspicion is that
- 36:26Speaker 2: by the end of the week he'll price will probably
- 36:28Speaker 2: have come down anyway there whereas a lot of managers
- 36:30Speaker 2: open the app see that he's not playing and think, well,
- 36:32Speaker 2: I'll sell him and I'll buy whoever it is that
- 36:34Speaker 2: they fancy instead, So we probably won't be it probably
- 36:38Speaker 2: be point one, might even come down to where I
- 36:40Speaker 2: bought him from by that point. The question for me, though, is,
- 36:43Speaker 2: unlike you, who's got an easy way to get him
- 36:45Speaker 2: back on a world card. If I sell Harlan, do
- 36:48Speaker 2: I need to leave the money for buying him back again?
- 36:51Speaker 2: Do I risk just not having him and spread the
- 36:54Speaker 2: money elsewhere? Do I need to spread the money elsewhere?
- 36:57Speaker 2: Because to be honest, the rest of my team is
- 36:58Speaker 2: looking quite nice and it's not really anyone else that
- 37:01Speaker 2: sounds standing out. I don't feel the need to go
- 37:02Speaker 2: and buy a cold Palmer or anybody.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Else so expensive.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Oh absolutely. I mean, I'm happy to have Bruno Fernanders
- 37:08Speaker 2: as my most expensive player in the game, because to
- 37:10Speaker 2: be honest, he's performing like he should be my most
- 37:13Speaker 2: expensive asset in the game. So yeah, maybe this week
- 37:16Speaker 2: might be the week that I do sell Harlan. It
- 37:18Speaker 2: would then be one of those where for the next
- 37:20Speaker 2: few weeks, would I want to bring him straight back
- 37:22Speaker 2: in again? Would I leave it until we get a
- 37:24Speaker 2: little bit further on, maybe past the Arsenal game in
- 37:27Speaker 2: game week thirty three, Maybe I'll leave it for that
- 37:29Speaker 2: one and then look at reinvesting because they end the
- 37:32Speaker 2: season nicely, and of course by then we'll know a
- 37:34Speaker 2: little bit more about progression in the Champions League, what
- 37:37Speaker 2: the FA Cup looks like, we hopefully know a little
- 37:40Speaker 2: bit more about when the Crystal Palace versus Man City
- 37:42Speaker 2: game is going to be scheduled four because of course
- 37:45Speaker 2: they blank, but they will therefore have a double that
- 37:47Speaker 2: we haven't played out yet. So I can't see me
- 37:50Speaker 2: going into a game week where Harlan has two fixtures
- 37:52Speaker 2: and I don't have him. Despite the malays in his
- 37:55Speaker 2: form at the moment.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree, I agree, and a shout out to
- 37:58Speaker 1: west Ham as well. In this game then only have
- 37:59Speaker 1: one shot or match, but goodness me, they made it count,
- 38:01Speaker 1: didn't They have Rapanos with not just the goal but
- 38:04Speaker 1: a great performance as well. Right, I saw towards the
- 38:06Speaker 1: end of the game et too square in the face,
- 38:08Speaker 1: didn't he from a Harlan shot that Harland courts very
- 38:11Speaker 1: very sweetly looked as if it was on target and
- 38:13Speaker 1: Mavrapanos putting his body on the line. In seven of
- 38:17Speaker 1: their last nine Premier League games, actually west Ham have
- 38:19Speaker 1: conceded zero or one, right, So they're not They're low
- 38:22Speaker 1: key doing very very well defensively, the Nuno Espirito Santo
- 38:26Speaker 1: kind of defensive DNA that were used to seeing from
- 38:29Speaker 1: him as a manager across some of his other teams.
- 38:31Speaker 1: West Ham are absolutely starting to get that right, well
- 38:33Speaker 1: not starting, so that's nine games that they are getting
- 38:36Speaker 1: it right, no doubt about it, just very quickly. A
- 38:38Speaker 1: shout out to Bowen though you mentioned him a second
- 38:41Speaker 1: ago seven point five. We've discussed Cesco, We've discussed Richarlison,
- 38:45Speaker 1: We've discussed plenty of other forward options, including chial Pedro
- 38:48Speaker 1: and others. In this kind of price bracket seven point
- 38:51Speaker 1: five for Bowen blank Tony once in his last eight
- 38:54Speaker 1: game weeks. He's kind of going under the raid, aren't it. Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Absolutely, six attacking returns in the last eight and the
- 39:00Speaker 2: other game was defensive contributions, where he is by far
- 39:02Speaker 2: the best forward in the game for defensive contributions.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Look, I really like him. He's on one hundred and
- 39:08Speaker 2: forty one points after thirty game weeks so far. That's
- 39:10Speaker 2: fourteen more than he had this stage last season, so
- 39:13Speaker 2: performing better than he did last year in a western side.
- 39:16Speaker 2: That a finding form of the perfect moment to try
- 39:18Speaker 2: and avoid the drop. I keep saying week after week
- 39:23Speaker 2: that investing in teams that are fighting for something, whether
- 39:26Speaker 2: it be avoiding the drop or whether it be Champions
- 39:28Speaker 2: League or Europa League or Conference leagu football, these are
- 39:31Speaker 2: the teams that you want to invest in because those
- 39:33Speaker 2: players have the additional motivation and going into these final
- 39:35Speaker 2: weeks of the season, that's exactly what you need. Jarreed,
- 39:38Speaker 2: Barne and I have had a bit of a hockey
- 39:40Speaker 2: cochi kind of relationship this year. I bought him in,
- 39:43Speaker 2: had him as a differential earlier on in the season.
- 39:45Speaker 2: He didn't really return. I sold him for Tiago after
- 39:48Speaker 2: Thiago did those two massive double digit hauls. They then
- 39:51Speaker 2: swapped over and Bubban's form since then has just been
- 39:54Speaker 2: unbelievably good. So yeah, he is definitely on the list.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I mean, like we've made a list of of forwards
- 40:00Speaker 2: this week, so it's very hard to hold Harlem when
- 40:04Speaker 2: you've got the likes of Bowen who's consistently returning and
- 40:07Speaker 2: it's like half the price.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, yeah, totally. Well, look in some of the
- 40:10Speaker 1: remaining games, we only really had we had one goal,
- 40:13Speaker 1: didn't we Sunderland Neil Brighton one, but then it was
- 40:16Speaker 1: Neil Neil Palas and leads Neil Neil Forrest and Fulham
- 40:19Speaker 1: and Neil Neil Burnley and Bournemouth. So a bit of
- 40:21Speaker 1: a lack of goals across these games on Sunday in particular,
- 40:26Speaker 1: any kind of key FPL talking points from those games,
- 40:30Speaker 1: I guess the one that I'd like to pick out
- 40:32Speaker 1: is Fulham And one of the reasons I want to
- 40:33Speaker 1: do that is because there will be a lot of
- 40:35Speaker 1: FPR managers with Harry Wilson with Anderson at the back,
- 40:39Speaker 1: of course, and they got that really nice game Burnley
- 40:41Speaker 1: at home in game week thirty one, So I don't
- 40:43Speaker 1: have any Fulham right now, but I am for sure
- 40:46Speaker 1: looking at both of those players and maybe others from Fulham.
- 40:50Speaker 1: Wilson in this game a couple of shots, took some
- 40:52Speaker 1: decent set pieces. I don't know if he was he
- 40:55Speaker 1: had a bit of an injury, has been carrying something
- 40:56Speaker 1: last couple of weeks, and I wonder whether he was
- 40:58Speaker 1: kind of fully read for this game. I don't know.
- 41:01Speaker 1: He's obviously a key player for them, but Anderson, for
- 41:04Speaker 1: sure a key player for them. Has always only four
- 41:06Speaker 1: point five in FPL. He was back in the team.
- 41:08Speaker 1: That's Fulham's first clean sheet since December, so you know, coincidence,
- 41:12Speaker 1: I think, not right. He's a key player for them
- 41:14Speaker 1: at the back. So Fulham is just a a as
- 41:18Speaker 1: options in game week thirty one, are you thinking about
- 41:20Speaker 1: a Wilson or Anderson or anybody else?
- 41:22Speaker 2: Yeah? Absolutely, I think Wilson, Anderson, row him and Az
- 41:26Speaker 2: again if we want to add another forward. Didn't really
- 41:29Speaker 2: do much in this one, him and AiZ. But I think,
- 41:30Speaker 2: you know, over the last few weeks has been consistent,
- 41:33Speaker 2: So I think Fulham are a team that I don't have.
- 41:35Speaker 2: I don't have any investment in Fulham right now. Again,
- 41:38Speaker 2: a bit like what I was saying about Chelsea. I
- 41:39Speaker 2: don't like watching Chelsea at the moment because I don't
- 41:42Speaker 2: have investment and I worry that they're going to absolutely tank.
- 41:44Speaker 2: My FPL rank Fulham are similar because if the clean
- 41:48Speaker 2: sheet sticks, you know that the Anderson's owners, they do
- 41:53Speaker 2: do well out of it. Right now, as you said,
- 41:55Speaker 2: we haven't been having the clean sheet, so that hasn't
- 41:57Speaker 2: been too much of an issue. But Harry Wilson is
- 41:59Speaker 2: regular problem for non FBL owners and so I do
- 42:03Speaker 2: think he is one that I'll be looking at. Fulham
- 42:06Speaker 2: feel like the team of these teams that you have
- 42:09Speaker 2: played out, these kind of more boring nil nil jaws
- 42:12Speaker 2: that we won't spend a long time talking about. They
- 42:14Speaker 2: feel like the team I need to invest in. I'm
- 42:16Speaker 2: already heavily invested in Bournemouth. I've got Cinesi, who was
- 42:19Speaker 2: the most bought defender of the game week two hundred
- 42:22Speaker 2: and sixty eight thousand new owners for him, brings in
- 42:26Speaker 2: another clean sheet, defensive contribution points. Again, he is looking
- 42:30Speaker 2: like a really great asset. If you don't want to
- 42:32Speaker 2: spend that much on him. James Hill also continuing his
- 42:35Speaker 2: brilliant form, also picking up the defense of contribution points
- 42:39Speaker 2: in the clean sheet. In fact, Hill has only failed
- 42:41Speaker 2: to provide a return in one of his last eight matches.
- 42:44Speaker 2: He's got three assistant four clean sheets in that period
- 42:46Speaker 2: as well, so those two looking great. As I mentioned earlier,
- 42:49Speaker 2: Kroupee despite the fact he's not really doing a lot.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Seventh start in ten matches so doesn't feel like necessarily
- 42:56Speaker 2: a priority sell ahead of this one. And then in
- 43:00Speaker 2: Tavanir for this one, who again was unlucky. I mean,
- 43:04Speaker 2: he has a love affair with hitting the post. This man,
- 43:06Speaker 2: it's unreal.
- 43:07Speaker 1: He missed points dodger extraordinariy in fil isn't he tavan here?
- 43:10Speaker 2: It's mad he missed out on the deaf con by one.
- 43:13Speaker 2: He got eleven defensive contributions And I was lucky, really
- 43:16Speaker 2: desperately watching back hoping that I could ring up Opta
- 43:19Speaker 2: and say please, there's an extra defensive contribution point here,
- 43:21Speaker 2: but I couldn't find one. So yeah, do Bournemouth feel
- 43:24Speaker 2: like another team that I'm already heavily invested, But I
- 43:27Speaker 2: think you can invest there as well. And those two
- 43:30Speaker 2: for like the two teams that would you would want
- 43:33Speaker 2: to go to.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I think so, yeah, just before we wrap up, I
- 43:36Speaker 1: do want to just touch on that thing you've said
- 43:38Speaker 1: about Bournemouth. I mean that is that's pretty key because
- 43:40Speaker 1: a lot of us are going into thirty one and
- 43:42Speaker 1: we've discussed before about Bruno being kind of perma cap
- 43:45Speaker 1: or the default captain for game week thirty one. That's
- 43:47Speaker 1: not an easy fixture that for Manchester United to go
- 43:49Speaker 1: to Bournemouth in game week thirty one. They've conceded fifteen
- 43:53Speaker 1: opt to define big chances at home in twenty five
- 43:56Speaker 1: twenty six, which is fewer than any other team Bournemouth,
- 43:59Speaker 1: so they do not give up big chances easily. And
- 44:02Speaker 1: you said before, right, both Hill and SNESSI they've formed
- 44:05Speaker 1: a great partnership there. They're the two top FPL defenders
- 44:09Speaker 1: for death compoints since game week nineteen, right, So they're
- 44:11Speaker 1: regularly hitting the deaf common doing all that good stuff
- 44:14Speaker 1: up front. I think it's looking maybe a little bit
- 44:16Speaker 1: weaker for them, Like they're on a bit of a
- 44:18Speaker 1: gold rout at the moment, aren't They Just one go
- 44:20Speaker 1: in four and they're still even though that gold rout
- 44:23Speaker 1: is ongoing. They're still the league's joint fifth highest scorers
- 44:26Speaker 1: by the way Bournemouth, so maybe it's just a blip.
- 44:28Speaker 1: But I expect that Man United game in Game Week
- 44:31Speaker 1: thirty one to be pretty cagy. I'm not expecting too
- 44:34Speaker 1: many goals in that so I don't know if Bruno
- 44:36Speaker 1: is quite the default go to captaincy option for Game
- 44:41Speaker 1: Week thirty one. I think there will be other options well.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Before we get to deciding on captaincy options, it's going
- 44:46Speaker 2: to be another big week of Football League. First up,
- 44:48Speaker 2: it's the second leg off the Champions League Ground of
- 44:50Speaker 2: sixteen as well as the Europa League and Conference YE competition,
- 44:53Speaker 2: so Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and City, Newcastle Spurs, Forest Villa
- 44:57Speaker 2: and Palace all in action again in midweek. We'll then
- 45:02Speaker 2: have the deadline for blank game Week thirty one, which
- 45:04Speaker 2: is on Friday evening, and of course it's a blank
- 45:06Speaker 2: gang week because we have the League Cup final between
- 45:09Speaker 2: Arsenal and Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, good luck to those two teams. Kelly Jewels and
- 45:13Speaker 1: yourself Sam will be back on Thursday. They'll be discussing
- 45:17Speaker 1: how to manage blank Game Week thirty one and the
- 45:19Speaker 1: best players to invest in.
- 45:20Speaker 2: And if you haven't already done so, don't forget to
- 45:22Speaker 2: join the FPL Pop Mini League. The code is x
- 45:24Speaker 2: y six XPL lee. It's been a lot of fun
- 45:28Speaker 2: chatting to you today.
- 45:29Speaker 1: It certainly has it certainly has green arrows everyone, thanks
- 45:32Speaker 1: for listening.
