- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey, welcome in through the Irish Titters podcast. We're coming
- 0:09Speaker 1: into week thirteen of the NFL season. This is the
- 0:14Speaker 1: podcast for Pittsburgh Suiters fans across the end of Ireland.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Michael Quid delighted to be joined by Jimmy English. Shout
- 0:19Speaker 1: out to Dabug who's not here this week. We're gonna
- 0:21Speaker 1: get his thoughts ahead of the Bengals game in audio
- 0:24Speaker 1: formats towards the end, but for now, Michael Johnn here
- 0:27Speaker 1: with Jimmy. Jimmy, good to see him and he look nice,
- 0:30Speaker 1: warm and cozy down there. And Draha busy week Thanksgiving
- 0:34Speaker 1: howing up to everyone listening. Happy Thanksgiving as well. How
- 0:37Speaker 1: are you the money good?
- 0:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm good, Nick him good. Thanks.
- 0:40Speaker 3: We we are getting towards the business end of the season.
- 0:43Speaker 3: The tough fixtures are coming hard and fast now in
- 0:46Speaker 3: the NFL. The weather is certainly reflecting that. So I'm
- 0:50Speaker 3: looking forward to getting nice and cozy now in a
- 0:53Speaker 3: couple of evenings in a row with the firearm watching
- 0:55Speaker 3: the NFL.
- 0:56Speaker 2: A couple of midweek games this week as well, which
- 0:58Speaker 2: is great.
- 0:59Speaker 3: We have the thanks Giving game on Thursday, Black Friday
- 1:01Speaker 3: game as well, so some interesting matchups there. Look, not
- 1:06Speaker 3: the best week for the Steelers by any means, with
- 1:08Speaker 3: plenty of opportunity is coming down the line now to
- 1:10Speaker 3: make up for that. And we're still number one in
- 1:12Speaker 3: the AFC North, which which is the main thing.
- 1:14Speaker 2: So I'm sure we'll get stuck into that. But yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 2: love and loving football at the minute. Plenty plenty going on,
- 1:20Speaker 2: which is always great.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Yeah, look, it's it's it's one of those weeks. I
- 1:24Speaker 1: sort of thought it was them before we hit the
- 1:26Speaker 1: record button. It's one of those weeks where there's that
- 1:28Speaker 1: much football and I thought we packaged up a podcast
- 1:30Speaker 1: and do it all in one pop this week, especially
- 1:32Speaker 1: when we had that break from Thursday and at football.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And it's funny because so many people across the island
- 1:37Speaker 1: of Ireland last week, Jimmy and and beyond experienced maybe
- 1:41Speaker 1: a cold chill, But then you know, we've seen the
- 1:45Speaker 1: picture of kirkhurb Street last week in the first quarter,
- 1:47Speaker 1: second second quarter, first quarter, fourth quarter, where the snow
- 1:50Speaker 1: just kept coming and coming and coming, and when it
- 1:52Speaker 1: came it was just it was just nuts. And I
- 1:55Speaker 1: think for a neutral fan it was iconic, but for
- 1:59Speaker 1: staters has obviously when you come into the game with
- 2:02Speaker 1: such high expectation, especially coming on the season eating too.
- 2:06Speaker 1: We spoke about it last week on you know, going
- 2:08Speaker 1: in the first Net football, a significant opportunity to get
- 2:10Speaker 1: that win potentially and then have that time off over
- 2:13Speaker 1: the weekend and get back into it ahead of the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Bengals this week, which we will talk about in Louis. Second,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I guess for me, look, you can't sugar coat a loss.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I thought it was very much
- 2:28Speaker 1: the Browns. They knew it was ANFC Norph team, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: I feel like they were really up for it in
- 2:33Speaker 1: one sense of the word. But also when the snow came, Jimmy,
- 2:38Speaker 1: I was seeing the blominus. I'm not gonna lie like
- 2:40Speaker 1: it looks so difficult to play in for a start,
- 2:42Speaker 1: Like I don't know how Russell Wilson went twenty one
- 2:45Speaker 1: or twenty eight, And I feel like on a personal aspect,
- 2:50Speaker 1: we could have relied on the run game a little
- 2:52Speaker 1: bit more in the snow, especially towards that third and
- 2:54Speaker 1: fourth quarter stratch. But look, it's just one of those
- 2:56Speaker 1: games and you have to chalk it down as a loss.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And I think the biggest thing now that we will
- 3:00Speaker 1: talk about going forward in a few moments. Is is
- 3:02Speaker 1: just making sure that you know, we stop the bleed
- 3:05Speaker 1: here now, whether that's the speaker next week, because some big,
- 3:09Speaker 1: big games coming up over the next few weeks, especially
- 3:11Speaker 1: against ANFC North teams and the Brown's coming up quite
- 3:13Speaker 1: shortly a game as well, chance to get a bit
- 3:15Speaker 1: of revenge. But obviously any loss is disappointing, but we
- 3:18Speaker 1: had a few days to sort of recoup on it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: What was your faults as you were sitting on the
- 3:22Speaker 1: Thursday night cold watching the game on the snow.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, obviously it's disappointing, and I think we
- 3:28Speaker 3: kind of knew Mick going into this game how much
- 3:30Speaker 3: of a trap game it was going to be.
- 3:32Speaker 2: And the Browns.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Actually had the complete opposite of our records, sitting at
- 3:36Speaker 3: two and eight, whereas we were eight and two, opposite
- 3:38Speaker 3: ends of the division. So that was frustrating that we
- 3:42Speaker 3: didn't fulfill our potential by any means on Thursday nights
- 3:45Speaker 3: last Friday morning.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So if there were a couple of bright spots, don't
- 3:48Speaker 2: get me wrong, it wasn't all doom and gloom.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Jayl and Warren got his first rushing touchdown of the season,
- 3:54Speaker 3: which is always great to see, you know, a well
- 3:56Speaker 3: deserve considering the work that he's been putting in a
- 4:00Speaker 3: bit of being overall, there was so much to clean up,
- 4:02Speaker 3: you know, the defense. I don't think that after Jamis Winton,
- 4:06Speaker 3: as much as I would have liked them to have
- 4:08Speaker 3: TG Watts seems have completely vanished the past couple of weeks.
- 4:10Speaker 2: If don't know what's going on with the pass rush.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Thank god for.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Nick Herby because all I'll say, because he actually managed
- 4:15Speaker 3: to get some pressure on Jameis Winston and had one
- 4:18Speaker 3: of three turnovers or sorry, one of three takeaways. With
- 4:22Speaker 3: regards to the weather, it's always fun seeing the first
- 4:25Speaker 3: snow game of the year. I think I think it
- 4:27Speaker 3: adds to the kind of atmosphere of the game. I
- 4:30Speaker 3: don't think you can really blame conditions that much. They
- 4:33Speaker 3: didn't really seem to affect the Browns. Who are you know,
- 4:35Speaker 3: passing all over the field. Jerry Judy had had a
- 4:38Speaker 3: field day against US, so you know, these are professional
- 4:42Speaker 3: football players. They're used to playing in all sorts of conditions.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I don't think the snow can be an excuse at
- 4:48Speaker 3: all by any means. I just think it was a
- 4:49Speaker 3: sloppy performance and like you say, things need to be
- 4:52Speaker 3: tightened up coming into this game against the Bengals, because
- 4:56Speaker 3: the Bengals will sense a little bit of weakness I
- 4:59Speaker 3: think on the back of this loss, and we'll be
- 5:01Speaker 3: out to capitalize on that. But no, I mean overall
- 5:06Speaker 3: need to need to pull our socks up now and
- 5:07Speaker 3: continue to get back to the way we have him playing.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I mean, we've seen some fantastic performances from Russell, Wills
- 5:12Speaker 3: and cow over the past couple of weeks, so I
- 5:14Speaker 3: think we just need to find our way again and
- 5:17Speaker 3: pick things back up and.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Keep forging on for the playoffs.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, it was some of those things. I mean, I
- 5:23Speaker 1: wouldn't of course, I wouldn't say for me that the
- 5:26Speaker 1: snow was primarily the blim at all. It's just it's
- 5:28Speaker 1: just I find that I definitely thought our energy went
- 5:30Speaker 1: down a bit, and yeah, the Browns looked one hundred percent,
- 5:33Speaker 1: So it was interesting to see towards the end, especially
- 5:36Speaker 1: in those last couple of drives. But in the third
- 5:38Speaker 1: and fourth quarter, you know, certainly Russell has taking a
- 5:42Speaker 1: lot more sacks. I find that that that the protection
- 5:45Speaker 1: probably needs to tighten them a little bit going forward
- 5:46Speaker 1: over the next few weeks, so it will be interesting
- 5:49Speaker 1: to see how that happens. He he dropped back a
- 5:52Speaker 1: considerable amount of times, but you're seeing that there was
- 5:54Speaker 1: a lot of there was a lot of pressure on
- 5:57Speaker 1: them there on Thursday night. And even at that, as
- 6:01Speaker 1: much as the brand's pressure, I thought that I remained
- 6:06Speaker 1: quite optimistic even until the last few players of the game,
- 6:08Speaker 1: that this team would turn it around. So just look,
- 6:10Speaker 1: it just wasn't the beame and we do have to
- 6:12Speaker 1: chalk it off. I just to stay on the game.
- 6:14Speaker 1: A week second, I watched the pregame on Amazon Prime
- 6:18Speaker 1: with Taylor Rooks interviewing coach Toman, and I'm not sure
- 6:22Speaker 1: we've seen it, Jimmy, but and if anyone hasn't seen it,
- 6:25Speaker 1: watch it back. Just that's the guy you want to
- 6:29Speaker 1: charge your football team. And I'm just gonna leave it
- 6:30Speaker 1: with that, right That man could walk me into a
- 6:34Speaker 1: fire and I'd be happy enough. I'll just later that like, no,
- 6:37Speaker 1: just just a really big good interview. Her interviews on
- 6:40Speaker 1: Prime every Thursday night are actually something to say for
- 6:42Speaker 1: a bit, it's something to sayp for about twenty Towell
- 6:44Speaker 1: Irish time, very very enjoyable. And also Jimmy and I
- 6:47Speaker 1: don't know, because we haven't talked abou him too much,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I feel like we need to get him on the
- 6:50Speaker 1: podcast in the off season. Danny Smith, the special teams coordinator,
- 6:55Speaker 1: like his his energy even and s though, is absolutely hilarious.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm not saying he gives me like Jeff Ryan Buld vibes,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but I wish I had, like if I have his
- 7:05Speaker 1: energy at his sage or when I'm his aage, if
- 7:08Speaker 1: I have his energy, I'd be a very very happy man.
- 7:10Speaker 1: It seems a great crackler.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I was reading an article there on
- 7:15Speaker 3: NFL dot com before we came on, make a bit
- 7:17Speaker 3: about in the spirit of Thanksgiving, some one thing each
- 7:20Speaker 3: that each team can be thankful.
- 7:21Speaker 2: For, and for the Steelers it was Mike Tommon.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And with that man at the helm, I feel like,
- 7:26Speaker 3: you know, even even on the back of what might
- 7:27Speaker 3: might seem like a bit of a disastrous loss, he
- 7:30Speaker 3: might be two phased by it. I mean, we've seen
- 7:33Speaker 3: this before, We've lost to the Browns and we have
- 7:35Speaker 3: bounced back. I just think now he needs to rally
- 7:37Speaker 3: the troops. Get that message of consistency across. Maybe have
- 7:41Speaker 3: a word with a couple of players who were whose
- 7:44Speaker 3: attitude wasn't the best after I'm not going to name names.
- 7:47Speaker 2: I think anyone listening will know who I'm referring to.
- 7:50Speaker 3: But you have things like that are not frustrating that
- 7:53Speaker 3: all around one hundred percent. I mean, particularly on our
- 7:57Speaker 3: reference that that deep shot to George Pickens and in
- 8:00Speaker 3: the fourth quarter from Justin Fields it was a fifty
- 8:02Speaker 3: to fifty ball. Whether he was interfere with the wather,
- 8:04Speaker 3: he slipped in the snow, it's difficult to say, but
- 8:07Speaker 3: it's it's small marriagins like that that cost us the
- 8:10Speaker 3: game the fork down. Sorry, the two point conversion attempt
- 8:13Speaker 3: earlier on didn't quite work out either. So look, it
- 8:17Speaker 3: is a lot to be fixed. And I feel like
- 8:19Speaker 3: we've been saying this in the podcast week in week out.
- 8:21Speaker 3: There are Look, there are positives there, but these there's
- 8:25Speaker 3: things there that are that are costing us wins. And
- 8:28Speaker 3: when it comes down to the crunch time and the playoffs,
- 8:30Speaker 3: they're gonna be they're gonna be things that might end
- 8:33Speaker 3: up scuvering us all together. So now is the time,
- 8:36Speaker 3: especially in this rough stretch of the season, the hardest,
- 8:39Speaker 3: the back end of the season. We've been saying it
- 8:41Speaker 3: all year, this is where it's going to count. We're
- 8:43Speaker 3: getting into December football now, we're playing for keeps. So
- 8:48Speaker 3: it's time for the coaching staff, Mike Tomlin, terror Laws
- 8:51Speaker 3: and to step up and get that message across and
- 8:55Speaker 3: get things fixed before they get worse.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I think, yeah, it's one of those things at the minute.
- 9:00Speaker 1: The it's about learnings, mistakes and it's going to be
- 9:03Speaker 1: interesting to see exactly how that team comes back, especially
- 9:06Speaker 1: over these next last five to six weeks, and it
- 9:08Speaker 1: starts with a really really important matchup this week against
- 9:12Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals. It's TBC in terms of the television
- 9:17Speaker 1: situation this week at the moment at the time of recording,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but we will be sure to update you on social media.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And there certainly a lot of big games over the
- 9:24Speaker 1: next few weeks which will be on TV for Steers
- 9:27Speaker 1: fans in Ireland and the UK as well, which gives
- 9:31Speaker 1: people a lot of opportunities to watch the Staders in
- 9:34Speaker 1: action as well, which would be great to see. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: just before we talk about this Bengals game, very quickly,
- 9:38Speaker 1: let's hear from coach Tomlin, who was speaking to the
- 9:40Speaker 1: press earlier on Tuesday ahead of this game on Sunday
- 9:44Speaker 1: as the Staders who were eating free looking to face
- 9:47Speaker 1: the four and seven since Natti.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Bangers, obviously, you can't talk to these guys without talking
- 9:52Speaker 4: Joe Burrow. If you look at the take Man's he's
- 9:56Speaker 4: MVP caliber in terms of what he's doing for them.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I started first with the two Baltimore games because of
- 10:03Speaker 4: the intimacy of divisional play. Man. I don't know how
- 10:06Speaker 4: many touchdowns he threw in those two football games. I
- 10:09Speaker 4: know Chase himself had five. It's just kind of reflective
- 10:13Speaker 4: of what he and they are capable of. We got
- 10:16Speaker 4: to do a really good job. We better carry enough
- 10:18Speaker 4: defense schematically, but within that, we better perform at a
- 10:22Speaker 4: high enough level, because it's not just schematics that beats them.
- 10:26Speaker 4: You better have enough schematics. You better perform it or
- 10:30Speaker 4: executed at a relatively high level. You better do a
- 10:32Speaker 4: good job of providing pre snap looks. You better blit some,
- 10:37Speaker 4: you better play covert some. You better do a lot
- 10:41Speaker 4: of things. And I think that is reflective of a
- 10:44Speaker 4: quarterback in his position. I say the same thing when
- 10:46Speaker 4: we play guys like Matt Stafford and so forth, Guys
- 10:49Speaker 4: that are anticipatory passers, guys that at complete command of
- 10:53Speaker 4: their system of offense, Guys that know where all their
- 10:56Speaker 4: eligibles are. And oftentimes that's illustrated by his ability need
- 11:00Speaker 4: to throw no look checkdowns and things of that nature.
- 11:03Speaker 4: He just knows where all his people are. When you're
- 11:05Speaker 4: playing quarterbacks like that, man, you better carry enough defense.
- 11:09Speaker 4: You might be able to, you know, trick them or
- 11:12Speaker 4: stay ahead of them for twenty or thirty minutes, but
- 11:15Speaker 4: you better have enough defense. It's a sixty minute game.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I think that's reflected in watching them play. I think
- 11:21Speaker 4: oftentimes you see teams are capable of slowing him or
- 11:25Speaker 4: slowing them down at the early portions of the game.
- 11:29Speaker 4: But in the fourth quarter, he and they are coming
- 11:31Speaker 4: on like gangbusters. And so you know, I've been around
- 11:34Speaker 4: long enough to have an appreciation for that. I know
- 11:36Speaker 4: how and why that happens. You better carry enough defense.
- 11:41Speaker 4: They get comfortable as the game goes on with what
- 11:44Speaker 4: it is that you're doing, what it is they need
- 11:46Speaker 4: to do to be successful, and they adjust, They adapt,
- 11:51Speaker 4: both the individuals and the collective, and so for those reasons. Man,
- 11:55Speaker 4: we're obviously preparing with an edge man. He's got some
- 11:58Speaker 4: top notch eligible to throw the ball to, starting with
- 12:01Speaker 4: number one Chase. He's probably tops in the league in
- 12:05Speaker 4: every wide receiver statistical category. He's got top notch talent.
- 12:10Speaker 4: They do an awesome job of moving him around within
- 12:13Speaker 4: their system of offense. They got some continuity there, obviously
- 12:16Speaker 4: between he and Joe who've been in that system for
- 12:19Speaker 4: a number of years now, and I think it's reflected
- 12:22Speaker 4: in the many things that they asked him to do.
- 12:24Speaker 4: You turn on twenty four twenty twenty four tape, There's
- 12:28Speaker 4: more pre snap movement from him, There's more positional variation
- 12:32Speaker 4: from him, making him a more difficult guy to minimize. Obviously,
- 12:37Speaker 4: t Higgins is a matchup issue. He's big, he's strong,
- 12:41Speaker 4: he's got really good run. After he got the speed
- 12:44Speaker 4: on us last year and had a big play and
- 12:46Speaker 4: kind of you know, got them back in that football game.
- 12:49Speaker 4: But again, when you talk about t you're talking about
- 12:53Speaker 4: a guy who is combative, man who is who doesn't
- 12:56Speaker 4: die easy. Particularly after the catch. We got to tack.
- 12:59Speaker 4: We got to tackle, We got a rap. They got
- 13:02Speaker 4: some new new additions to their group gase. Heck he
- 13:05Speaker 4: at tight end, Man's a vertical threat. Uh. He's often
- 13:08Speaker 4: a mashup issue, too big for defensive backs, too athletic
- 13:13Speaker 4: for linebackers, and so we're being thoughtful about how we're
- 13:16Speaker 4: formulating a plan uh to minimize him. He's got some
- 13:20Speaker 4: talented new young receivers that are emerging because Tyler Boyd
- 13:24Speaker 4: obviously is no longer there. Burton is one to mention
- 13:29Speaker 4: who's had a hat in recent weeks and appears to
- 13:31Speaker 4: be a downfield guy for him. I was at his
- 13:33Speaker 4: pro day in Tuscaloosa last year. Man, he's really talented.
- 13:37Speaker 4: He's got a well rounded game. He's got some awesome
- 13:40Speaker 4: receiver skills. And then they got to turn over in
- 13:42Speaker 4: the backfield with Brown. Obviously we used to facing facing
- 13:46Speaker 4: mixing over the years from them, but Brown is not
- 13:50Speaker 4: new to them. He's a second year player. He's got
- 13:53Speaker 4: a well rounded skill set for the running back position.
- 13:56Speaker 4: He's good in interior runs, he's good on perimeter runs.
- 13:59Speaker 4: He's got good burst, pick and vision. He's an asset
- 14:03Speaker 4: to him in the passing game, particularly in the screen game.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Screens have been a challenge for us against them in
- 14:09Speaker 4: recent years. I think I looked at the screen real
- 14:11Speaker 4: this morning. I think they've run twenty three screens of
- 14:15Speaker 4: some description against us in the last six games. To
- 14:18Speaker 4: put some perspective on how big that component of play is.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Great to hear from.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Coach Tomon, the head of this game on some day,
- 14:25Speaker 1: I think a lot of us as Jimmy, as I said,
- 14:28Speaker 1: we're looking forward here, trying to see this team go
- 14:31Speaker 1: nine and four through thirteen weeks as we get into
- 14:33Speaker 1: the autumn weeks. All this twenty twenty four NFL season,
- 14:37Speaker 1: every week is so crucial in the AFC North and
- 14:40Speaker 1: of course the Staders hoping to hie on to that
- 14:43Speaker 1: lead in the division as we move forward this week,
- 14:47Speaker 1: Jimmy looking very quickly at the Bengals. Joe Burrow has
- 14:52Speaker 1: not played a bad season, and actually I feel for
- 14:54Speaker 1: him because there's been a lot of things that this
- 14:57Speaker 1: Bengals team could improve on, especially the they haven't had
- 15:00Speaker 1: a lot of luck with injuries. There's been players that
- 15:04Speaker 1: haven't went their way, but there's been games and I
- 15:06Speaker 1: guess the last one the game that they've had there
- 15:10Speaker 1: they're coming off a bye week, that game against the
- 15:12Speaker 1: Chargers could have really went either way. T Higgins on
- 15:15Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty yards receiving on that night, a
- 15:18Speaker 1: bit more needed in that run game. But certainly we
- 15:21Speaker 1: are looking at the Bengals team here, and I don't
- 15:23Speaker 1: think this is me being dramatic by saying this. They
- 15:27Speaker 1: are playing for their lives. I look at that AFC
- 15:30Speaker 1: playoff bracket right now, and yes, I see Denver at
- 15:34Speaker 1: the bottom of that wild card hunt. But I still
- 15:36Speaker 1: think to myself, a team like Cincinnati, a team like
- 15:39Speaker 1: Miami as well, can go on a run over the
- 15:41Speaker 1: next few weeks, and Cincinnati and Joe Burrow will be
- 15:44Speaker 1: looking at the Steelers team regardless of that, just regardless
- 15:48Speaker 1: of the results, they'll be looking at that Steelers team
- 15:51Speaker 1: thinking we have a chance against this team. And certainly,
- 15:55Speaker 1: you know, you look at Cincinnati and you can see
- 15:58Speaker 1: a situation where they can put up thirty on us team.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Doesn't matter if it's the Chiefs or the Steelers, whoever
- 16:02Speaker 1: it's it's definitely one to look out this week. It's
- 16:05Speaker 1: going to be a difficult game, regardless of the record.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Over all foreign seven.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, I mean four and seven make but still
- 16:12Speaker 3: very much in the playoff picture contention. As you say,
- 16:15Speaker 3: you can never really count out Joe Burrow regardless of
- 16:17Speaker 3: the team's record. He's just such a phenomenal talent, and
- 16:22Speaker 3: I think they have the potential to surprise a lot
- 16:24Speaker 3: of people coming into into into this December football and
- 16:28Speaker 3: coming down to the postseason.
- 16:30Speaker 2: When you look at there the weapons he has at
- 16:32Speaker 2: his disposal.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I mean, we've been facing top tier threats all season
- 16:36Speaker 3: long and we have largely managed to contain them. You
- 16:39Speaker 3: have the likes for Jamaar, Chase t Higgins, Chase Brown,
- 16:42Speaker 3: who's having a fantastic season, and they're running back one spot.
- 16:46Speaker 2: It's going to be a difficult matchup because you know, you.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Mentioned that they're the Bengals playing for the lives that
- 16:52Speaker 3: the Steelers aren't as comfortable as they have been up
- 16:55Speaker 3: to date.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I think we're only ahead of the Ravens now by
- 16:58Speaker 2: half a.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Game with the AFC North race, so this is a
- 17:01Speaker 3: must win game for both teams. And look, you're just
- 17:04Speaker 3: harken back to the Dealers have to play perfect from
- 17:06Speaker 3: here on now to maintain their position and to have
- 17:10Speaker 3: any chance of making a deep postseason run, and that
- 17:12Speaker 3: starts this weekend against the Bengals. They're gonna have to
- 17:14Speaker 3: get after Joe Burrow, shut down his weapons and just
- 17:17Speaker 3: clean up a lot of mistakes that we had against
- 17:20Speaker 3: the Browns. But it's you know, it's no gimme either.
- 17:24Speaker 3: It just depends on which Bengals team shows up, which
- 17:26Speaker 3: version of Joe Burrow shows up, and it's going to
- 17:29Speaker 3: be a fascinating matchup to watch.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking about a bit of pressure earlier on
- 17:35Speaker 1: and how Russell Wilson is that with pressure in that
- 17:37Speaker 1: snow game against Cleveland. Joe Burrow has had a lot
- 17:42Speaker 1: of issues with quarterback protection in Week eleven before the
- 17:46Speaker 1: bye week, the charges of three sacks and fourteen hits
- 17:49Speaker 1: on Burrow but one of the bigger ones. And for
- 17:51Speaker 1: people that you know obviously know how good the Bengals
- 17:53Speaker 1: were a couple of years ago in a Super Bowl
- 17:55Speaker 1: run in LA. At that time, Evan McPherson was money,
- 17:58Speaker 1: really really reliable player in the league, and over the
- 18:01Speaker 1: last few weeks he's really really struggled. And in the
- 18:04Speaker 1: fourth quarter of that game against the Chargers, he missed
- 18:06Speaker 1: not one but two go ahead field world attamps, which
- 18:10Speaker 1: probably could have put the Bengals on five wins instead
- 18:14Speaker 1: of sitting them four. Certainly it's it's must win. Territory
- 18:18Speaker 1: away from home, regardless of the record is a significant flat.
- 18:22Speaker 1: This is a very very difficult game, and I go
- 18:25Speaker 1: into this with cautious optimism that these lads of ours
- 18:29Speaker 1: can go in and learn from the mistakes. The weather's
- 18:31Speaker 1: gonna play a big factor, but also I really feel
- 18:34Speaker 1: like the general attitude, not just of the players in Cincinnati,
- 18:39Speaker 1: but the whole of that crowd in Cincinnati. It's going
- 18:42Speaker 1: to be so so important. The first quarter in this.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Game is huge.
- 18:45Speaker 1: If we can get out and get a quick score
- 18:47Speaker 1: in this game and go seven or ten up in
- 18:48Speaker 1: this game, I think it's crucial.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I think it's going to.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Be a very very difficult game. You sort of mentioned
- 18:52Speaker 1: there with TJ Wat. I want to see a little
- 18:56Speaker 1: bit more from him this week. I think the Seriers
- 18:58Speaker 1: win the seventeen ten. I think it's one of those
- 18:59Speaker 1: got c AFC North games. If you can give me
- 19:01Speaker 1: a win and we can go to nine and fleet
- 19:03Speaker 1: sitting coming in the week fourteen, I'll be a very
- 19:06Speaker 1: very happy man and high optimistic. Do you feel about this,
- 19:09Speaker 1: especially when we know how lethal Joe Burrow can be
- 19:13Speaker 1: if tried to improve that run game in recent weeks,
- 19:16Speaker 1: and they've got a wide receiver quarter at all, the
- 19:17Speaker 1: stay is one of the best in the league. It
- 19:19Speaker 1: does feel like eventually the Bengals are going to get
- 19:22Speaker 1: it right. I just hope it's next week, and I
- 19:24Speaker 1: hope for the general school with the rest of the
- 19:25Speaker 1: season that maybe they've left the week two lit nutsense.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Just HARKing back to your point about protection, Michael, it
- 19:32Speaker 3: seems like Russell Wilson from a large majority of that
- 19:35Speaker 3: game against Cleveland did not have enough time to make
- 19:37Speaker 3: his reads downfield and get a pass off. So that
- 19:39Speaker 3: is definitely that needs to be cleaned up, needs to
- 19:42Speaker 3: be worked on. You can have to give your quarterback time.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Like Russell Wilson is known for his deep balls. He
- 19:47Speaker 3: has beautiful touch on as the quote unquote moon balls
- 19:50Speaker 3: that he loves throwing deep to his receivers. So to
- 19:53Speaker 3: give him enough time to on cork more of those,
- 19:56Speaker 3: you have to improve the protection. That's a mass I
- 20:00Speaker 3: think I'm gonna play a massive part, especially when you
- 20:02Speaker 3: have the likes of Trey Hendrickson, who was one of
- 20:04Speaker 3: the most underrated pass rushers in the league as far
- 20:07Speaker 3: as I'm concerned like he's going to pose a massive
- 20:10Speaker 3: threat I think on Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening. In terms
- 20:15Speaker 3: of predictions, look, I mean I really thought we would
- 20:18Speaker 3: beat the Browns. I mean, after beating the Ravens, I
- 20:20Speaker 3: really really thought we wouldn't struggle against the Browns as
- 20:23Speaker 3: much as we did. I am cautiously optimistic, purely for
- 20:26Speaker 3: the fact that I don't think I've ever picked against
- 20:28Speaker 3: the Steeers in this podcast, and I'm not about to
- 20:30Speaker 3: start now. Given the way this season is going, I
- 20:33Speaker 3: still have a bit of faith left. It is going
- 20:35Speaker 3: to be very tight. I think I think Joe Burr
- 20:38Speaker 3: is going to have a big, big game. I think
- 20:41Speaker 3: he's gonna throw all over us. But I do think
- 20:43Speaker 3: we'll be able to hold out. We'll be able to
- 20:46Speaker 3: land some punches ourselves. I'm gonna go Steelers winning this
- 20:49Speaker 3: one in.
- 20:50Speaker 2: A very very tight one, seventeen to fourteen.
- 20:53Speaker 3: It's going to come down to, I think, to a
- 20:55Speaker 3: fourth quarter field goal from Boswell.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Hopefully there'll be no snow.
- 20:59Speaker 3: You never know what what it'll be like there, whether
- 21:01Speaker 3: there's no actually whether the whether actually affects the player's
- 21:04Speaker 3: performance or whatever. You know that they can say what
- 21:06Speaker 3: they want, but I think it will be interesting to
- 21:08Speaker 3: see how much that that does impact on it. It's
- 21:11Speaker 3: going to be close. I mean, I think every game
- 21:12Speaker 3: from here on now is going to be very close.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Unless this Theaters can kind of they have shown flashes
- 21:18Speaker 3: of the form that they that the potential that is there,
- 21:21Speaker 3: they need to tap into that more permanently now and
- 21:23Speaker 3: actually start coming on week on week if we're going
- 21:27Speaker 3: to have any chance of, like I said, of getting
- 21:29Speaker 3: past the first round of the playoffs, I agree, it's.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Going to be an interesting few weeks now. And obviously
- 21:35Speaker 1: we got to go one Cup Final at a time,
- 21:37Speaker 1: one super Bowl at the time. This week per se
- 21:40Speaker 1: and a mat of four cents, big wait for the Staters, folks.
- 21:42Speaker 1: If you're listening to this podcast through this so you're
