- 0:24Speaker 2: on your shows, you should you should say to like
- 0:26Speaker 2: to lead them. Please beat them here after everything we've
- 0:30Speaker 2: been through the last.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Couple of years. No, yes, that's right. So I actually
- 0:36Speaker 3: did this because I'm a nerd. And this what ideal?
- 0:38Speaker 4: Houston by fourteen and a half, Houston with a really
- 0:40Speaker 4: easy schedule.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Golly, mis molly and two goodness.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Gracious, all this talk about who would you rather face
- 0:51Speaker 2: in the playoffs? You're one of your places. NBC Sports
- 0:54Speaker 2: of Boston had a poll. Don't drag us into your polls.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Whoever's our opponent? That's who will.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Put madic about that at all?
- 1:01Speaker 1: To who do you want to face them?
- 1:04Speaker 2: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:08Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:12Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday. Here
- 1:17Speaker 2: richel Let's stadium. And why don't I have a light
- 1:20Speaker 2: on on any cameras? I don't know anyway, no talent today,
- 1:25Speaker 2: so we don't know which cameras are on. I'm thinking
- 1:27Speaker 2: it's this one. But yes, so huge win, huge, huge.
- 1:34Speaker 4: It's a true professional right there. Just you know, we
- 1:36Speaker 4: have a little bit of a glitch going on. He
- 1:38Speaker 4: just he fought right through it, even he lasted ten
- 1:40Speaker 4: seconds before we go on.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I like to show people behind the scenes how the
- 1:46Speaker 2: sausages to be hard.
- 1:47Speaker 1: If you have to go to your one for something.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, I start right off the bat.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Great win, great win. I don't care how it transpired.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You beat Baltimore in Baltimore, desperate team, bad matchup, you
- 2:00Speaker 2: knew that going in, tons of injuries, bad refereeing. You're
- 2:05Speaker 2: still you still want, You're still want. And now the
- 2:09Speaker 2: Patriots are in the playoffs. Yep, nothing that can happen
- 2:13Speaker 2: that can take the playoffs, the Patriots out of the playoffs.
- 2:16Speaker 1: No, nice to do it on your terms too. I
- 2:17Speaker 1: didn't really want to wait till you know, oh this
- 2:20Speaker 1: team lost and all of a sudden, you know, on
- 2:21Speaker 1: the Sunday night or Monday night, you.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Know, we're in the playoffs. So it was nice to
- 2:24Speaker 2: be able to do it on your turn steal your
- 2:26Speaker 2: own fate. So I love it. I love it. Uh,
- 2:29Speaker 2: it's Paul, it's Deuce. Will even be by. He's always
- 2:35Speaker 2: just decided to take time off to eat a sandwich.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Most of us wait till a break and then we eat.
- 2:39Speaker 2: But you know that's all right.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Couldn't he couldn't do it.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I have friends in the mafia.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Yeah, to be able to watch yourself, and they'll work
- 2:45Speaker 2: at Jersey Mikes.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Uh okay, which, by the way, it's a pretty good
- 2:50Speaker 1: story about Jersey Mikes with Evan. I know we never
- 2:53Speaker 1: shared that one on them from from the well.
- 2:56Speaker 2: That later, but I know people Tuesday, people want to
- 2:59Speaker 2: talk about this Baltimore game, what it means. Obviously, we
- 3:02Speaker 2: talked about the Pages being in the playoffs, not the
- 3:05Speaker 2: af C East. Yet that can happen this coming week.
- 3:08Speaker 2: If the Patriots win and Buffalo loses, then they automatically
- 3:13Speaker 2: get the a f C East this week. So still
- 3:17Speaker 2: a lot to play for. Obviously, in the regular season.
- 3:20Speaker 3: There is Evan.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Hi, you're good.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Sorry, I was finishing my sandwich. Why don't you wait
- 3:24Speaker 3: till the break? I don't know. I jumped the gun
- 3:27Speaker 3: and then I was eating and.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Got a nice haircut.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Yeah, just got it this morning. G and L yep,
- 3:34Speaker 3: G and A. It's okay, G and A.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I went in there and it didn't really seem like
- 3:37Speaker 1: they knew me. But then when I was walking out,
- 3:38Speaker 1: he gave me a little like little knowing no, and
- 3:40Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, maybe he does know me, but I
- 3:42Speaker 1: don't know.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You didn't say it. You should have like a little
- 3:49Speaker 2: one of those boomboxes with you, so whenever you walk
- 3:51Speaker 2: in a room it plays one of the songs here
- 3:54Speaker 2: and then.
- 3:56Speaker 1: A haircut.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Yeah, they're they're popular spot because you know all the
- 4:02Speaker 6: Christmas cuts, you know, the dads and with their sons
- 4:05Speaker 6: in there getting their spiffy for the holidays.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I had time. I do it all right. So where
- 4:13Speaker 2: do you want to start with this game? I mean
- 4:14Speaker 2: obviously beginning first three hundred yard game and got the
- 4:18Speaker 2: game ball was predicted by Fred and got the game ball.
- 4:21Speaker 2: After the games, as predicted by also May, we'll have
- 4:25Speaker 2: a three hundred plus yard game. What about the other
- 4:28Speaker 2: part you cut it out?
- 4:30Speaker 5: Did you get I gave you. People were talking over you,
- 4:34Speaker 5: but I gave you your props.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Thank you. I heard you. We said that every week.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I heard you. I heard it.
- 4:39Speaker 5: It was just Paul Snart.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I heard you.
- 4:41Speaker 5: But you do say it every week?
- 4:42Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Is that why you got mad at me yesterday? When
- 4:44Speaker 5: I gave you your props you kind of walked by
- 4:46Speaker 5: me or you're busy.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I was busy lead three yard and you nailed it and
- 4:52Speaker 2: he just like he goes. I think I was on
- 4:55Speaker 2: my way to a meeting, if you know what I mean.
- 4:57Speaker 4: Okay it Yeah, did you bring the Penske file?
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 5:02Speaker 5: It was a great win.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And I mean, I admit early on it was frustrating.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I was definitely uh not happy with how it went
- 5:09Speaker 1: right out of the gate. Thought they started slow and
- 5:11Speaker 1: that was not a formula I was hoping for. But
- 5:15Speaker 1: then that punched out fumble and to me, I don't
- 5:17Speaker 1: know how you guys felt in the stadium, but to me,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it felt like right there, it felt like Baltimore all
- 5:21Speaker 1: of a sudden started to clam up a little bit.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And then of course you know, Lamar got hurt. And
- 5:25Speaker 1: but all credit to Drake there at the end. That
- 5:27Speaker 1: was awesome. That fourth down pass. I mus must have
- 5:30Speaker 1: watched it six times yesterday, just like what a laser.
- 5:33Speaker 2: It was how close it was.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I mean that the past before was like I still
- 5:37Speaker 1: have a heart attack about that one, but just it
- 5:40Speaker 1: was therefore we've been waiting for. I mean I said
- 5:41Speaker 1: it all summer, and you know, not to say now
- 5:43Speaker 1: that he's done it once that that's it.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He'll always do it.
- 5:46Speaker 1: But at least you have some evidence now, I mean,
- 5:47Speaker 1: game on the line.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Say what you want about not playing Derek Henry or
- 5:52Speaker 2: Lamar being hurt or whatever. The offense still need to
- 5:56Speaker 2: take advantage of that. Yeah, they still needed to come
- 5:58Speaker 2: from behind by eleven points, yep, and they did it. Yeah,
- 6:01Speaker 2: that's the bottom line.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Had to be perfect in the last twelve minutes and
- 6:04Speaker 4: fifty seconds of that game. The Patriots basically had to
- 6:06Speaker 4: play perfect, and they did in all three phases.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it was another one I was interested to talk
- 6:11Speaker 1: Evan about. Was the RPOs at the end there. I
- 6:13Speaker 1: really like that a lot.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Some GF Counteryeah, yeah, a couple of times.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Everybody chasing Remondre on that last one, and they ran
- 6:20Speaker 1: it the.
- 6:21Speaker 3: First time and Ramon he handed it off, and so
- 6:23Speaker 3: I think they probably thought, oh, it's just kind of
- 6:25Speaker 3: for show that he's not actually going to keep it, uh,
- 6:29Speaker 3: and so they kind of in that spot you kind
- 6:31Speaker 3: of have to sell out and go after something somebody
- 6:34Speaker 3: and something.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Kind of a situational thing, though, I mean we haven't
- 6:37Speaker 1: really seen a lot of that. I mean, I know
- 6:38Speaker 1: he got the goal line a little bit, but that yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Yeah, the low red zone stuff last week against Buffalo
- 6:44Speaker 3: and then this week they pulled it out at the
- 6:46Speaker 3: end to kind of ice the game and play eleven
- 6:49Speaker 3: on eleven and you know, make the run game a
- 6:51Speaker 3: little bit more dynamic that way in a close out situation.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But I think that, you know, my whole like feeling
- 6:59Speaker 3: while watching the game, you know in Baltimore was even
- 7:02Speaker 3: when they got down eleven points, like you just don't
- 7:04Speaker 3: feel like they're out of it now, and like that
- 7:06Speaker 3: feeling is just so different than what it's been for
- 7:10Speaker 3: five years now really since Brady left. And they have
- 7:13Speaker 3: a guy now in Drake May that he can play
- 7:16Speaker 3: bad for three quarters and you feel like he can
- 7:18Speaker 3: bring him back. And I don't think that that's uh,
- 7:21Speaker 3: you know, that's not a small thing because you're not
- 7:23Speaker 3: gonna be perfect every week. You're not gonna play you know,
- 7:26Speaker 3: great out of the shoot every single week. You're gonna
- 7:28Speaker 3: be behind, You're gonna have you know, moments in the
- 7:31Speaker 3: fourth quarter where you're driving and you're down three points
- 7:34Speaker 3: and you have to make plays. And uh, the addability
- 7:37Speaker 3: now for them to be down two scores late in
- 7:39Speaker 3: the game and just go touchdown, touchdown, you know, ballgame
- 7:42Speaker 3: is uh it Yeah, it's such a huge it's such
- 7:47Speaker 3: a huge difference, and you know he was There was
- 7:50Speaker 3: obviously some plays that that weren't so good that he'd
- 7:52Speaker 3: probably like to have back. But the high level plays
- 7:56Speaker 3: that he made in this game really for all four quarters,
- 7:59Speaker 3: even going right back to the opening drive, you know
- 8:01Speaker 3: it digs twenty five yards over the middle on just
- 8:04Speaker 3: an absolute dart like he was terrific.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You know, the rainbow of Kyle Williams, you know, right
- 8:10Speaker 2: in the bucket. Yeah. And by the way, the one
- 8:13Speaker 2: to Remondre that was just a little long, that was almost.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a good Yeah, that was a good shot.
- 8:18Speaker 1: What was the feeling in the stadium though, I'm just
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'm curious how the contingent and Patriot fans who were
- 8:23Speaker 1: very vocal you could hear that on the broadcast, but
- 8:25Speaker 1: just did you feel like the angst from the Ravens
- 8:28Speaker 1: fans of this season because they've been terrible at home
- 8:30Speaker 1: and they come out seem like they're all right, they're
- 8:33Speaker 1: ready to go. But it felt like things devolved. I
- 8:35Speaker 1: don't know if you guys noticed the atmosphere.
- 8:39Speaker 3: It was a cool atmosphere because before the game, they
- 8:42Speaker 3: had Steelers Lions up on the video board and the
- 8:45Speaker 3: whole stadium was watching the end of Steelers Lions, and
- 8:48Speaker 3: obviously the Ravens were cheering hard for the Lions to
- 8:52Speaker 3: come back in that game. And then that game kind
- 8:55Speaker 3: of ended the way it did, and that was sort
- 8:56Speaker 3: of deflating, I think at first, you know, and so
- 8:59Speaker 3: that was sort of took the energy out a little
- 9:01Speaker 3: bit for the fans that had been there already. And
- 9:04Speaker 3: then Lamar gets hurt in the second quarter, so that
- 9:06Speaker 3: takes the energy out even more. And so I don't
- 9:09Speaker 3: really think that there was a whole.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Lon't It wasn't like we've been there or I've been
- 9:14Speaker 2: there for games where you know, Ravens are rolling and
- 9:17Speaker 2: they're doing the chant and everything, you know, the White
- 9:20Speaker 2: Stripe song, and it's it's pretty intimidating. Didn't get that
- 9:25Speaker 2: sense at any time in this game.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Interesting, No, And I think Mike's point about the first fubb,
- 9:30Speaker 4: the Henry fumble, I think I haven't really felt all
- 9:34Speaker 4: year that the Patriots were you know, you know, even
- 9:37Speaker 4: when they've been on the heels, I haven't felt like
- 9:39Speaker 4: they were on the verge of like really really bad stuff.
- 9:42Speaker 4: I think they were on the verge of getting boat raced.
- 9:44Speaker 4: The way the game started, I don't I don't think
- 9:46Speaker 4: it was gonna stop. And that fumble stemmed the tide
- 9:49Speaker 4: for a while, and then Jackson getting hurt obviously stemmed
- 9:52Speaker 4: the tide for a while, but Baltimore was able to
- 9:55Speaker 4: regain their composure and take control of the game back
- 9:59Speaker 4: in the third quarter into the fourth quarter. And now
- 10:03Speaker 4: at this point, I go to what Evan said. I
- 10:07Speaker 4: didn't feel like the game was over, and I you know,
- 10:10Speaker 4: I'm prone to give a nodge. You guys said that
- 10:12Speaker 4: I'm not afraid to call a game over or not
- 10:14Speaker 4: off before it's over.
- 10:16Speaker 5: It was close during the postgame couple of.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Times, but the way I just you don't want to
- 10:24Speaker 4: hear this, so maybe you go iermosire fred I said
- 10:27Speaker 4: to Mike, this is what the Ravens do. Nobody blows
- 10:31Speaker 4: more two score leads in the fourth quarter than the
- 10:33Speaker 4: John Harbar Ravens. They're a really good team and a
- 10:36Speaker 4: really good organization that wins a lot of games, but
- 10:39Speaker 4: they blow a lot of two score leads in the
- 10:41Speaker 4: fourth quarter in this particular year. It's not even any
- 10:44Speaker 4: of those things. They're not a good team. They haven't
- 10:46Speaker 4: been good at home. That's the sixth, sixth time they've
- 10:49Speaker 4: lost that home this year. They find ways to lose
- 10:53Speaker 4: those games. And I never thought the Patriots were out
- 10:56Speaker 4: of the game. I expected them to go out and score.
- 10:58Speaker 4: I didn't know if they would win. Expect acted in
- 11:00Speaker 4: the ground and.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Score and put game pressure on Baltimore, and they did.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, I I mean I didn't love the
- 11:07Speaker 1: fake punt. That to me was kind of the the
- 11:10Speaker 1: bad moment where I that's it. I did, you know,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I kind of did my due.
- 11:14Speaker 5: As a side.
- 11:16Speaker 4: When they say if they lost the game twenty four
- 11:19Speaker 4: to thirty, or let's just say twenty four to twenty one,
- 11:21Speaker 4: maybe they score once, but then Baltimore is able to
- 11:24Speaker 4: grind out some first downs and run the clock out.
- 11:27Speaker 4: What do you think the reaction would have been to
- 11:29Speaker 4: just basically handing them seven points.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I mean we're able. Took full responsibility today
- 11:33Speaker 1: at his press conference and that was his call, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: you know, admitted it wasn't a great call. Seem like,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I don't know what you thought. I it sounded like
- 11:39Speaker 1: you wanted Mapu to just throw it.
- 11:41Speaker 2: You know, and just give west Over a chain.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, just gives over.
- 11:45Speaker 3: I don't. I always go back and forth with things
- 11:48Speaker 3: like fake punts and stuff because everybody loves it when
- 11:51Speaker 3: it works right, and it's only.
- 11:52Speaker 4: I wouldn't have loved this one if it went for
- 11:54Speaker 4: a touchdown. I wouldn't have loved that just because of
- 11:56Speaker 4: the game.
- 11:57Speaker 3: But I hear what you're saying, but like all you
- 11:59Speaker 3: can do is call it, and like when it doesn't work,
- 12:02Speaker 3: it's like, you know, everybody's all up in arms about it.
- 12:05Speaker 3: I would wonder, and I didn't get a chance to
- 12:10Speaker 3: follow up on it today, but I would wonder if
- 12:12Speaker 3: there was an option to check out of it. Because
- 12:15Speaker 3: Baltimore was in punt safe, so they had two levels
- 12:19Speaker 3: of their unit. They weren't selling out to rush the punter,
- 12:22Speaker 3: so normally, like you wouldn't want to call that into
- 12:26Speaker 3: that look. So like they could just as easily lined
- 12:30Speaker 3: up to call the fake checked out of it, and
- 12:33Speaker 3: none of us would have been.
- 12:35Speaker 5: But didn't it look like they did that the previous
- 12:37Speaker 5: time they I don't think so.
- 12:38Speaker 3: The previous time that they punted, they were in a
- 12:41Speaker 3: different formation and they were blocking, and my guess is
- 12:44Speaker 3: that they were just making some sort of check. So
- 12:47Speaker 3: that was the other thing that I think threw off
- 12:50Speaker 3: the fake was they were in a different kind of formation,
- 12:54Speaker 3: and so I'm sure Baltimore was looking at the formation
- 12:57Speaker 3: that they were lined up in and was like, something's
- 13:00Speaker 3: up here.
- 13:01Speaker 4: And give them credit. Give Baltimore credit the reason why
- 13:04Speaker 4: I didn't like it. And you're right if everybody just
- 13:07Speaker 4: it's result oriented. But you're playing the backup quarterback. You're,
- 13:13Speaker 4: you know, in a tight game. It's a tight kind
- 13:16Speaker 4: of rock fighty game at the time. Don't play field position.
- 13:20Speaker 4: It's fourth and ten, you know, not fourth and three.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Big part of it.
- 13:25Speaker 4: Just play field position and make Tyler Huntley drive the
- 13:28Speaker 4: length of the field. He couldn't do that, you know,
- 13:31Speaker 4: I mean they threw He threw ten passes for sixty
- 13:35Speaker 4: five yards like Lamar, you know, had a hunt over
- 13:38Speaker 4: one hundred yards like one hundred and one yards, like, well,
- 13:40Speaker 4: maybe they thought there was no there was no way
- 13:42Speaker 4: Baltimore was going to be able to consistently drive the
- 13:45Speaker 4: length of the field.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Maybe him playing quarterback.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Well, maybe they didn't think that Derrick Henry was going
- 13:49Speaker 2: to stay in the sideline and they were just going
- 13:51Speaker 2: to chew up clock like crazy, and which they probably
- 13:54Speaker 2: would have done if they played him.
- 13:56Speaker 4: No, but he did play in that drive and he
- 13:59Speaker 4: went when they went down and scored. I'm not suggesting that,
- 14:02Speaker 4: but like maybe instead of making them go fifty yards
- 14:05Speaker 4: for a touchdown, yeah, forty four yards for a touchdown,
- 14:08Speaker 4: make them go eighty four yards for a touchdown, and
- 14:11Speaker 4: if they do it, you tip your cap and say
- 14:13Speaker 4: they did it.
- 14:14Speaker 3: You guys, are right.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I just try to figure out like what they were thinking.
- 14:17Speaker 3: I think, you know, the other thing angle to it is, well,
- 14:22Speaker 3: if you're it's Tyler Huntley, so like putting them on
- 14:26Speaker 3: a shorter field, like you might think that the defense
- 14:28Speaker 3: is going to hold, right and now way you know,
- 14:31Speaker 3: maybe it's.
- 14:31Speaker 2: A field goal that is aunt of time.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah, right, But I don't think I think they thought
- 14:36Speaker 3: that they had a good a good play for it,
- 14:38Speaker 3: and I think they thought it was going to work.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Oh, I totally think you don't. You don't rawl that
- 14:43Speaker 4: if you don't think it's gonna work.
- 14:44Speaker 3: No, I just mean like, I don't think that it
- 14:46Speaker 3: was anything more than that. I don't know if it
- 14:48Speaker 3: was anything.
- 14:48Speaker 5: Just you know, I agree, I totally do it. I
- 14:52Speaker 5: think it didn't work.
- 14:53Speaker 4: I just feel like I might think I have a
- 14:56Speaker 4: look in this game, and I'm sure it was specific
- 14:58Speaker 4: to Baltimore, you know, something that they worked on during
- 15:01Speaker 4: the week we got this play. We think it might
- 15:03Speaker 4: work based on the way Baltimore might show us something.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I get that I would say, let's keep that one
- 15:08Speaker 4: in the pocket in this game because of the situation
- 15:12Speaker 4: in this game, not necessarily, you know, it was lower scoring,
- 15:15Speaker 4: you didn't need you know. In other words, being down
- 15:18Speaker 4: four points at that time to me was not the
- 15:20Speaker 4: end of the world, but being down eleven made you
- 15:23Speaker 4: desperate and you put yourself in Now. To their credit,
- 15:27Speaker 4: they fought their way out of it and they were
- 15:29Speaker 4: able to overcome it. I just felt like they created
- 15:32Speaker 4: some of the adversity on their on their own.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I obviously you know, the Abel fell on the
- 15:38Speaker 3: sword for it this morning, and but you have to
- 15:41Speaker 3: have that ability to recognize they know something's up. On
- 15:45Speaker 3: the other side, they have two levels to their punt return,
- 15:49Speaker 3: which you know they so basically they have like linebackers
- 15:51Speaker 3: playing at the second level here that are sitting on
- 15:55Speaker 3: potential routes down the field. They probably didn't know exactly
- 15:58Speaker 3: what the play design was, but they knew that they're right,
- 16:02Speaker 3: there is a fake potentially coming. So you would have
- 16:05Speaker 3: liked to have just seen them check out of it,
- 16:07Speaker 3: punt it, and you know, keep that one for another day.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I think that's the biggest thing to me too, is
- 16:12Speaker 3: like maybe that works in the playoffs, Like maybe you're
- 16:16Speaker 3: down two touchdowns in a playoff game and he needs
- 16:19Speaker 3: something and like now it's on tape, Like now now
- 16:22Speaker 3: they know that that's your fake, So now you get
- 16:26Speaker 3: into that whole thing about it too. So I just
- 16:28Speaker 3: don't know if that was the spot they needed it.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I like to focus on the positive things. Not only kidding,
- 16:34Speaker 2: but I big shout out to remondre Steve. I was
- 16:37Speaker 2: just gonna bring him up with Henderson going down, he's
- 16:41Speaker 2: now the guy and he came through.
- 16:44Speaker 1: Vintage kind of you know performance from him. We had
- 16:47Speaker 1: him on the post game show. I shout it up, Paul.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I was like, Remondre, just so you know, we're in
- 16:51Speaker 1: here every time you made a pass plot, Paul's getting
- 16:54Speaker 1: here going crazy. He's like, that's right, Paul Yell.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I don't know if I've ever spoken to him, like
- 16:59Speaker 4: one on one He's like, yeah, he.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Had a great one on Kyle Hamilton.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Unbelievable, like two or three times, guys.
- 17:07Speaker 4: You know, there was one and it looked like he
- 17:09Speaker 4: was like inside and they you know, like that you
- 17:11Speaker 4: were there to go up close to the A gap
- 17:12Speaker 4: and then they sort of you know, teams are starting
- 17:15Speaker 4: to adjust to those those kinds of adjustments now, and
- 17:18Speaker 4: they sent somebody wide and he still got out there
- 17:20Speaker 4: in time to get the guy. I think those players
- 17:22Speaker 4: are invaluable, and I think he had a really good
- 17:24Speaker 4: all around game.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:25Speaker 1: It was also really interesting. He said on the on
- 17:27Speaker 1: the final touchdown that you know play was designed to
- 17:30Speaker 1: go left. Baltimore had everybody left, and he's like, I
- 17:32Speaker 1: already knew I was taking it right. And as soon
- 17:34Speaker 1: as he got that corner, you know, everybody knew.
- 17:36Speaker 2: The second I.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Think it was like Jered Wilson, like the second he
- 17:38Speaker 1: got around the corner and and great block by by
- 17:40Speaker 1: Kyle william.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Kyle Williams, so you know, made sure he screened off
- 17:43Speaker 4: that last guy. Yeah, couple of guys went contributions by
- 17:47Speaker 4: so many different guys in individual spots.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's it, Paul, I mean, that's what this team is
- 17:51Speaker 1: at its best. It's it's another one of those offensive
- 17:53Speaker 1: games where you go Hunter, Henry, Austin, Hooper, Kyle Williams,
- 17:56Speaker 1: Stefon Diggs, mac Hollins, Like every single one of those
- 18:00Speaker 1: guys came through and made contributions. I mean maybe Pop
- 18:03Speaker 1: was the only one who didn't really contribute. I know,
- 18:05Speaker 1: we got hurt, so he didn't have a chance maybe,
- 18:07Speaker 1: but that didn't get hurt. I mean, that's what's just
- 18:09Speaker 1: so exciting about this.
- 18:11Speaker 4: That's the one the one thing to worry about going forward.
- 18:15Speaker 4: I think they had nine guys leave the game at
- 18:17Speaker 4: some point and and Jared Wilson and that doesn't count.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Jared Wilson, Jerry Wilson. Concussion. What Rabel said today by
- 18:24Speaker 1: by my so along with Henderson, how do you get.
- 18:27Speaker 2: A concussion as an offensive lineman?
- 18:29Speaker 5: And who's a lot of concussions for uscussion.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Henderson, boy boy Henderson.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Yeah, we saw get the Booty.
- 18:36Speaker 4: One of the plays that the booty, you know, the
- 18:38Speaker 4: booty play was the play you got passing passing offense,
- 18:41Speaker 4: which I know you guys think that I'm crazy.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Did that one.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Just gonna leave that one right there, but that one smelled.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yeah, it should be an investigrate and I'm not exaggerating.
- 18:54Speaker 5: I'll leave it at that.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 7: Uh.
- 18:56Speaker 4: And I'm not talking this game. I'm talking all games.
- 18:59Speaker 4: That's that's the difference between me and you.
- 19:01Speaker 2: The other guy.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I would like to give a little bit of a
- 19:03Speaker 1: shout out to Jack Gibbons. Not perfect, but I thought
- 19:07Speaker 1: just for a guy who's in a really tough spot
- 19:10Speaker 1: having to make some tackle, you know, I just I
- 19:12Speaker 1: liked what he brought on a defense where they just
- 19:15Speaker 1: needed somebody to make some tackles and make some plays,
- 19:17Speaker 1: and he did make some plays. It wasn't you know.
- 19:19Speaker 1: It's a misstackles too, But at the same time, without Spallane,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I just thought his effort really, you know, it's like
- 19:25Speaker 1: you feel like the line was right in the middle
- 19:27Speaker 1: and he did just enough to keep you above that line.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I thought defensively. So it's just one guy to me
- 19:31Speaker 1: that that when I watched it against.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Good stuff, good stuff, and you know, Raybel called out
- 19:35Speaker 2: Gonzales after the game, saying that he stepped up, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 2: kind of something clicked when they really needed it most.
- 19:41Speaker 2: He had a good game, playing a little special teams
- 19:45Speaker 2: tackle on Derrick Henry. Uh. And we should mention that
- 19:49Speaker 2: he and Drake May are Pro bowlers. Drake May his
- 19:53Speaker 2: first time, he'll be the.
- 19:56Speaker 1: How do we tackle that?
- 19:58Speaker 3: How do we tackle second time?
- 20:00Speaker 8: Right?
- 20:01Speaker 1: And then then truly first and then like technically Mac
- 20:03Speaker 1: Jones made it in twenty twenty, but like not really
- 20:06Speaker 1: like you know, it's like you go.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Through the whole time.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Drake May. His answer about that today was hilarious. He's like,
- 20:10Speaker 3: I didn't deserve to be there last year. Like he
- 20:13Speaker 3: you know, came out and said, like last year was ridiculous.
- 20:16Speaker 3: He was like, I think they came to the as
- 20:17Speaker 3: the last person they asked, and I finally got somebody
- 20:20Speaker 3: that said yes that they would go.
- 20:21Speaker 5: That's about the marking his coin.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Well, yeah, the thing is he won't be able to
- 20:25Speaker 2: play this year, hopefully Super Bowls.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Drake Also, so we heard from mil Williams today who
- 20:32Speaker 1: v Abel said, we'll begin practicing. Talked to him in
- 20:35Speaker 1: the locker room. He said that he was glad he
- 20:38Speaker 1: didn't need surgery. That's when he knew that he wouldn't
- 20:40Speaker 1: he'd be able to come back. We asked him if
- 20:42Speaker 1: he would be able to if he thought he'd be
- 20:44Speaker 1: able to play this weekend. He said he needs to
- 20:45Speaker 1: get out there and see. But he did say he
- 20:47Speaker 1: has been running, didn't have surgery, been really hard watching
- 20:50Speaker 1: the games on TV. So we'll see. If they get
- 20:53Speaker 1: him back, it would be a huge boost. And another thing,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I saw Spalline in the locker room. No walking boot
- 20:57Speaker 1: this time.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Okay, good means it was anybody.
- 21:02Speaker 3: It was on the floor right next to it.
- 21:05Speaker 4: He just wasn't did anybody see the team actually depart
- 21:08Speaker 4: the locker room? And if he had any no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 21:16Speaker 4: none of those.
- 21:17Speaker 2: But it was a kind of a sparse locker room.
- 21:18Speaker 5: I was.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I was kind of, you know, taking in who was
- 21:21Speaker 1: in there, who wasn't. Maybe guys were I think they
- 21:23Speaker 1: were going into a team meeting, so it wasn't quite
- 21:25Speaker 1: the same as guys getting ready at their lockers and
- 21:27Speaker 1: you know they need to be in the locker room
- 21:28Speaker 1: to get their pats on and stuff. So I think
- 21:31Speaker 1: we're all just really curious to see tomorrow what the
- 21:33Speaker 1: what the injury report looks.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I think in the fourth quarter there was a time
- 21:36Speaker 2: where I think it was that last drive and I
- 21:38Speaker 2: returned to Evan he said, he did, he did.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I heard you guys had some interesting neighbors up in
- 21:44Speaker 1: the press box down there in Baltimore.
- 21:47Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Well, they have a new press box in Baltimore. They
- 21:51Speaker 2: moved it to the of the end zone, and you're like,
- 21:55Speaker 2: it is tight. It's tight, like you can't get up
- 21:58Speaker 2: from your chair once you're in.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I know, I know what was We had to go
- 22:02Speaker 3: to a game and for free, but it was one
- 22:04Speaker 3: of the worst press boxes.
- 22:06Speaker 2: So that did it made it worse.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Rival rivals, the Miami Dolphins at hard Rock Stadium, for
- 22:13Speaker 3: the made worse. Now the Commander is Washington in their
- 22:18Speaker 3: current stadium is also horrible. I could go down a list,
- 22:21Speaker 3: but for me, all I care about is vantage point.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Like I don't necessarily care about the press box itself,
- 22:28Speaker 3: but like you know me, I want to have a
- 22:30Speaker 3: nice view of the field.
- 22:31Speaker 4: There's a lot in corners corner. Yeah, yeah, but at
- 22:37Speaker 4: least here it's high. The Washington one that Evan's talking about,
- 22:40Speaker 4: I don't know if it's still this way corner, you
- 22:43Speaker 4: get no prospective, you can't see anything.
- 22:45Speaker 3: It is absolutely terrible. The whole stadium is terrible. That's
- 22:48Speaker 3: why that's why they're getting rid of a new one.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Do you guys like being in the middle though, I
- 22:53Speaker 1: don't know. I always look at like Reese on the
- 22:55Speaker 1: because they're kind of like on the bend in our
- 22:57Speaker 1: press box, and they almost have for the end zone
- 22:59Speaker 1: view were more in the corner.
- 23:00Speaker 2: The end zone is not good for perspective. Like you
- 23:03Speaker 2: see a pass go up and you don't know really
- 23:06Speaker 2: how high it is or low it is, and it's hard.
- 23:08Speaker 5: For twenty six seasons.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I'll let you know when I can tell if a
- 23:10Speaker 4: pass is going to get tipped or picked or not.
- 23:12Speaker 5: I lose the depth every single time.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I only care about height, Like I don't care if
- 23:20Speaker 3: it's in the middle or if it's in the corner,
- 23:23Speaker 3: but it.
- 23:23Speaker 5: Needs to be hot.
- 23:24Speaker 3: So like that's why I disagree with some people that
- 23:28Speaker 3: like the fifty yard line, like like Nashville like Tennessee
- 23:32Speaker 3: is like fifty yard low because it's too low. So
- 23:35Speaker 3: now I'm like, it's you know, you can't see like
- 23:38Speaker 3: all the players, you know, and how the play is developing.
- 23:41Speaker 5: I much like the metal Lands. Yeah, I love the
- 23:43Speaker 5: metal Lands. That's a little high.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I love the Metal Lands. I like our press box.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I think, I think Jillette. It's perfect. It's up top high.
- 23:53Speaker 5: It's perfect to me because I have you guys next
- 23:55Speaker 5: to me.
- 23:55Speaker 3: New Orleans was great.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Who is that?
- 23:58Speaker 1: Like? I can't And it's the.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Best, the best ones. Allegiant Vegas, Vegas fifty yard line high, high, high,
- 24:08Speaker 3: up top. I got the bird's eye view. You're right
- 24:11Speaker 3: in the middle. Chef's kiss perfect. All right, there's your
- 24:15Speaker 3: press box. Good press box talked by Okay, I'm very spoiled.
- 24:20Speaker 3: I get to go to all these games.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So so things are looking good for the Patriots, except
- 24:24Speaker 2: for those injuries that we started to help is.
- 24:27Speaker 4: A concern, you know, and Morgan Moses obviously battling through something.
- 24:31Speaker 4: I'm not sure that they had designs on him going
- 24:34Speaker 4: back in that game. If if Mumford didn't end up
- 24:37Speaker 4: getting banged up. Ultimately they both finished the game those
- 24:41Speaker 4: two guys are going to be worth monitoring. The depth
- 24:44Speaker 4: is getting tested.
- 24:45Speaker 2: We don't know if Boody's gonna be back in, but
- 24:48Speaker 2: the road is clearing for Chisholm to make his playoff run.
- 24:53Speaker 1: They got to get him in and get get him in.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Talk about you know we have we talked about May
- 24:58Speaker 4: and Gonzales getting their Pro Bowl nominations.
- 25:01Speaker 5: What about the snub for Booty? You guys all right
- 25:04Speaker 5: with that? Fred?
- 25:05Speaker 2: He's being Booty Fred.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I thought he was gonna say, what about what about.
- 25:10Speaker 2: The snub for Marcus Jones?
- 25:11Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 25:11Speaker 1: I mean Brabel talked about that too.
- 25:13Speaker 5: So I don't understand. They had a kick returner but
- 25:15Speaker 5: not a punt returner on this So.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I've been told it's a returner, they call it kick returner.
- 25:21Speaker 3: But Mary Dka with the Titans, he returns punts and kickoffs.
- 25:25Speaker 3: So he had Marcus Jones's punt production plus production as
- 25:29Speaker 3: a kickoff returner, so he.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Got to pick a returner.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have any problem with that if if
- 25:36Speaker 4: DK had better, But I don't understand why they wouldn't
- 25:39Speaker 4: have both positions.
- 25:41Speaker 3: They just have one return.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Two different things.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Now in that case, the same guy does it, but
- 25:47Speaker 4: not not everybody has it like that.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's that's just.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Marcus Jones should be the punt returner.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Come on, that's just the way.
- 25:53Speaker 5: That's just poor to me the way it is.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Yeah, poor to me. You don't like that?
- 25:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't like what my crushes get snub.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Okay, what else.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Garrett Bradberry is the good guy of the year for
- 26:05Speaker 1: anyone who cares.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Oh, he's great.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Good guy.
- 26:08Speaker 2: So the media loves him, they do.
- 26:10Speaker 3: He's easy to like.
- 26:11Speaker 2: He's uh but like.
- 26:13Speaker 3: He's one of those guys that that we'll talk to
- 26:18Speaker 3: you one on one and have conversations with you at
- 26:21Speaker 3: his locker a lot. He kind of just sits there
- 26:23Speaker 3: and holds court.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Often.
- 26:25Speaker 3: You're not a big like you know, obviously don't bring
- 26:27Speaker 3: this center other than like David Andrews at the end
- 26:29Speaker 3: to like podiums and stuff like that very often, but
- 26:32Speaker 3: he's there, like what am I doing up here? Yeah?
- 26:34Speaker 3: He kind of always like is it you know, willing
- 26:38Speaker 3: to talk. He gives thoughtful answers, you know that that
- 26:40Speaker 3: sort of thing. So he's really.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Held down that center position all he played well.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he's played played well. I think he's succeeded a certainly.
- 26:48Speaker 1: My exp question. Quick example, we have an employee here
- 26:51Speaker 1: who unfortunately his son suffered an injury playing high school sports,
- 26:54Speaker 1: and brad Berry was full on asking him all about it,
- 26:59Speaker 1: getting all the details you know you can. It's as
- 27:01Speaker 1: you could see, like.
- 27:02Speaker 5: A really first year player obviously doesn't know.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, okay, I'm trying to think if there's anything
- 27:09Speaker 2: else about the game itself.
- 27:10Speaker 3: And we didn't talk about Diggs.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, well Diggs had a great game.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Diggs is just going off, was going off. Yeah, I
- 27:16Speaker 3: mean he was. He was tremendous.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I like the way he was, you know, snatching the
- 27:20Speaker 2: ball and then the yards after catch. Yeah, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 2: is it?
- 27:24Speaker 1: I mean it's like, why doesn't look that way every week?
- 27:27Speaker 3: You know, just thirty two years old coming out? Yeah,
- 27:32Speaker 3: I think that he gets up for these primetime games.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Uh.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Baltimore's his hometown, so it was a it was a
- 27:37Speaker 3: homecoming for him as well playoff games to hopefully but yeah,
- 27:42Speaker 3: he uh, I mean this was a clinic like mans
- 27:46Speaker 3: zone inside outside, but just it didn't matter. I mean,
- 27:50Speaker 3: he beating Marlon Humphrey like a drum across the field,
- 27:53Speaker 3: a couple of times they.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Were beating him a lot.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he might be washed forty four.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Are they going after him?
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:59Speaker 3: I mean some of the like conversions and his feel
- 28:03Speaker 3: for zone coverage is just unbelievable. You know, the way
- 28:06Speaker 3: that he just knows where to settle and where to
- 28:09Speaker 3: find those openings. You know, the fourth down play, the
- 28:11Speaker 3: game winning drive was inches from being intercepted or broken
- 28:15Speaker 3: up and he turns it into a twenty one yard
- 28:17Speaker 3: game was he was an animal. I mean, he was
- 28:20Speaker 3: unbelievable in this game. And I think the positive is
- 28:23Speaker 3: is like you can see, all right, he's when he's
- 28:25Speaker 3: got it, like he can go back and get it right.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Like he might not be like this every single week
- 28:30Speaker 3: at this stage of his career, but when it's the
- 28:33Speaker 3: stakes are high and it's a big game and he's
- 28:35Speaker 3: feeling it, like he can go out there and be
- 28:37Speaker 3: the best player on the field and then maybe the quarterback.
- 28:40Speaker 3: So it was this was vintage Stefan Diggs, like he
- 28:44Speaker 3: was putting on a clinic.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yep. Good stuff. And I guess he got a little
- 28:47Speaker 2: bit of money. He's got bonuses in his contract for
- 28:50Speaker 2: going over seventy eighty and ninety catches. Okay, so he
- 28:54Speaker 2: got a half a million dollars. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 3: He's on pace for nine hundred and eighty five yards
- 29:01Speaker 3: on the season right now. So I don't know if
- 29:03Speaker 3: he's gonna you know, how much these not two games
- 29:06Speaker 3: are gonna mean in terms of his participation in them.
- 29:08Speaker 3: But yeah, you know he's getting right now, you know,
- 29:12Speaker 3: eight sixty and.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Drake could very likely get over four thousand, assuming that
- 29:17Speaker 2: he plays both games fully.
- 29:19Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, eight sixty nine. Yeah, he's up.
- 29:23Speaker 1: To to get it. I bet he gets it a
- 29:25Speaker 1: thousand yards. I think it's important to him.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Cool. Yeah, yeah, And I'm coming off the ACL I mean.
- 29:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean that's to me, that's big.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, good stuff.
- 29:37Speaker 2: I mean we were thinking of well, I don't want
- 29:39Speaker 2: to give away some content idea until.
- 29:41Speaker 7: We do it.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I don't do it.
- 29:43Speaker 5: One more thing.
- 29:43Speaker 9: Ben Brown signing a contact extension on did you say
- 29:46Speaker 9: that Drake May you know, should get two thousand. I
- 29:50Speaker 9: mean disaster struck if he doesn't get four thirty six
- 29:54Speaker 9: thirty forty seven.
- 29:56Speaker 8: Oh.
- 29:56Speaker 5: I was thinking to myself, I thought he already had four.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Thousand, But then I was reading something today that he
- 30:00Speaker 2: had like thirty six something before the game.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Yeah, he had three eighty in the game.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Okay, maybe it was something old I was reading. Yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 2: so he'll he'll get over four thousand.
- 30:10Speaker 5: In the first quarter. Probably he'll get over throw.
- 30:15Speaker 3: He is uh. He now leads the league in total QBR,
- 30:19Speaker 3: he's second in e paper drop back and just reading
- 30:22Speaker 3: some of the people that do have MVP votes, I
- 30:24Speaker 3: think a lot of people after the Bills game were like,
- 30:27Speaker 3: he's not now, he's not going to win MVP. You know,
- 30:29Speaker 3: he's kind of out of it, you know, so to
- 30:31Speaker 3: speak with Stafford and Allen's push, but not so fast,
- 30:35Speaker 3: my friend. I mean, I I think he's right there. Yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 3: I think he's right.
- 30:39Speaker 2: So we should talk about it because I'm a little
- 30:43Speaker 2: bit annoyed. First of all, I'm very annoyed at my
- 30:46Speaker 2: bloggers early game. I don't remember being so disappointed in
- 30:52Speaker 2: Patriots Fall. That's worse. I mean, yeah, things weren't going good,
- 30:55Speaker 2: and it wasn't like like I I'm all for criticism,
- 31:00Speaker 2: like oh so and so is having a bad game,
- 31:02Speaker 2: or they're doing this, they're playing too much. That's fine,
- 31:05Speaker 2: but this is what I'm hearing. This team is trash.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I hate this team. We suck again. No, that's all
- 31:12Speaker 2: it was. It was just like, then what are you
- 31:15Speaker 2: watching for?
- 31:17Speaker 1: Leave?
- 31:18Speaker 2: It was really disappointing. And then once they started coming back,
- 31:21Speaker 2: it was silence. You know, so like where were you then?
- 31:24Speaker 2: You know, It's just that was disappointing. The other thing
- 31:27Speaker 2: that this is more kind of annoying was this whole
- 31:30Speaker 2: thing about Drake. He needed this game. So were you
- 31:33Speaker 2: telling me that if he came up a little short
- 31:36Speaker 2: in this game, that's it? He's not the guy. I mean, like,
- 31:40Speaker 2: I don't know, we put too much emphasis on what
- 31:44Speaker 2: just happened until instead of like really looking at it
- 31:48Speaker 2: holistically and saying, no, this kid's going to be good.
- 31:51Speaker 2: He's not completely baked yet. He's still you know, need
- 31:54Speaker 2: to keep him in the oven a little bit longer
- 31:57Speaker 2: as most people are in the NFL. It takes your time.
- 31:59Speaker 2: But yeah, like I have no doubt that he's going
- 32:02Speaker 2: to be really good. You know, this game is another check,
- 32:07Speaker 2: you know, box check, but that the comeback was going
- 32:11Speaker 2: to come eventually. Yeah, you know, so like all these
- 32:14Speaker 2: people like, okay, now we can put that one away. Well,
- 32:16Speaker 2: what if he never has another comeback? And it's like
- 32:19Speaker 2: it's so stupid.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, it's just it's fun watching him get
- 32:23Speaker 1: experience and good and bad and that's all going to
- 32:26Speaker 1: help him in the long run. And we're in this
- 32:28Speaker 1: for the long run. The other NFL FRAN thirty one teams,
- 32:31Speaker 1: how many of those teams would want Drake.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Me right now? You know, probably thirty of them, right.
- 32:36Speaker 2: But but like people around here, we are so spoiled. Well,
- 32:41Speaker 2: that's like we've seen excellence at its highest level and
- 32:44Speaker 2: our expectation is there and it's just so unrealistic. Meanwhile,
- 32:48Speaker 2: we've got this kid who you know, he's lights out.
- 32:52Speaker 2: He's he's amazing, he's got all the tools. He makes
- 32:56Speaker 2: mistakes and then he corrects them, you know, so you
- 32:58Speaker 2: can see that he's coachable, he's everything you want in
- 33:01Speaker 2: a quarterback. And until he has that game, we can't
- 33:05Speaker 2: trust him. It's like, oh god, come on.
- 33:08Speaker 3: The only comparison that I can think of watching him
- 33:11Speaker 3: throw the deep ball is like watching Steph Curry shoot threes, right, like.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Just like launching a movie.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Like Steph Curry like hit a thirty footer off the
- 33:19Speaker 3: dribble and you're just like that, is that a human
- 33:21Speaker 3: being doing that, just threw it to the moon and
- 33:23Speaker 3: somehow right where. Yeah, and that's that's watching him throw
- 33:27Speaker 3: deep Like watching him throw the ball down the field
- 33:30Speaker 3: is like so aesthetically pleasing, but it's also so damn good.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Like it's unbelievable, not.
- 33:40Speaker 2: A lot of effort. It's just like he's got the.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Arm and you're almost like, as the ball is in
- 33:46Speaker 3: the air going to Kyle Williams, I'm like, I didn't
- 33:48Speaker 3: put my hands up, but I was already like touchdown,
- 33:50Speaker 3: but you're just like, you know, it's just going to
- 33:52Speaker 3: be right on his hands. Like it's just uncanny how
- 33:55Speaker 3: good he throws the ball down the field, And like
- 33:58Speaker 3: the numbers back that up. And he's four for five
- 34:01Speaker 3: in this game, and the only incompletion was the booty play,
- 34:03Speaker 3: which should have been past interference, so you know, it
- 34:05Speaker 3: really wasn't a true incompletion and he just you know,
- 34:09Speaker 3: like I said earlier, the amount of high level plus
- 34:13Speaker 3: plays whatever you want to call it, that he made
- 34:15Speaker 3: in this game was just every single time I felt
- 34:17Speaker 3: like I was writing, well, they had a jail break
- 34:20Speaker 3: on the left side, he steps up in the pocket,
- 34:22Speaker 3: you know, finds digs over the middle. Another you know,
- 34:25Speaker 3: Blitzer comes in, you know bludes it throws the ball
- 34:29Speaker 3: down the field. You know, Kyle Williams touchdown, just over
- 34:32Speaker 3: and over again, just making just unbelievable play after unbelievable plays.
- 34:36Speaker 1: So special, and like I remember watching it happen, even
- 34:38Speaker 1: you know, going back to last year's training camp and
- 34:41Speaker 1: to see him consistently do it, that's what's amazing to me.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Because he hit like he'd hit them early on. You
- 34:46Speaker 1: didn't know him as a player, even his first touchdown
- 34:48Speaker 1: of booty last year against the Texans, where all of
- 34:51Speaker 1: a sudden you're just like, my god, Like he has
- 34:53Speaker 1: uncanny accuracy down Like this is different. This isn't just
- 34:56Speaker 1: the guy who oh there's a guy running free down
- 34:58Speaker 1: and he hit him right, Like. This is a guy
- 35:00Speaker 1: who's dropping a pin in a bucket from fifty yards
- 35:03Speaker 1: out and putting it right where his guy can get it.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I mean, Kyle Williams is like, how do you defend that?
- 35:07Speaker 2: Right? It's just it's it's been one of the coolest
- 35:10Speaker 2: things and let's not you know, let's skip props to
- 35:13Speaker 2: Kyle Williams for the catch. It was over the shoulder,
- 35:16Speaker 2: you know, like didn't let up, you know, kept his pace.
- 35:18Speaker 2: You know, so often you see guys like stutter or
- 35:21Speaker 2: stop and you know he screws up the timing, but
- 35:24Speaker 2: he just you know, he was full out catching it
- 35:27Speaker 2: and you know on the move it was just you know,
- 35:31Speaker 2: and throw great catch.
- 35:32Speaker 1: And I know it hasn't been perfect when we can
- 35:34Speaker 1: point out some of the worts in Kyle Williams game still,
- 35:37Speaker 1: but like to have him start to make some plays
- 35:39Speaker 1: here at the end of the season, like this is
- 35:41Speaker 1: what you need with rookies, like you show some patience
- 35:43Speaker 1: early on. I know early in this season, where's Kyle Williams.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Whre's Kyle Williams very you know, not doing very much,
- 35:48Speaker 1: but just even these little glimpses here right now, and
- 35:51Speaker 1: it also to me is just proof positive of it
- 35:54Speaker 1: doesn't really matter Drake's thrown to whether it's Booty getting
- 35:57Speaker 1: down the field or Kyle Williams or the guy that
- 36:00Speaker 1: you bring next year or whatever it might be. It's
- 36:02Speaker 1: Drake may putting the ball right where the receiver can
- 36:04Speaker 1: get it. And that to me is just super exciting.
- 36:06Speaker 1: And now we have a little something next year. All right,
- 36:08Speaker 1: what's Kyle Williams, like in year two, can we get
- 36:10Speaker 1: him polished up a little bit and can he become
- 36:13Speaker 1: even more of a signal contribute.
- 36:15Speaker 3: It's a really encouraging Like the whole rookie class has
- 36:18Speaker 3: been pretty good across the board, but like you have
- 36:22Speaker 3: Henderson with the second half push, you have Kyle Williams
- 36:25Speaker 3: starting to make plays. You know, Craig Woodson's played like
- 36:27Speaker 3: every snap on defense. I don't know if he's an
- 36:29Speaker 3: impact safety, but he's a starter and he's a guy
- 36:32Speaker 3: that can play a lot of playing time for you.
- 36:35Speaker 3: You know, it wasn't Jared Wilson's best game. Maybe it
- 36:37Speaker 3: was because he was concussed the entire time. I wish
- 36:39Speaker 3: I had that context before I wrote about it yesterday.
- 36:42Speaker 5: That's funny, that's funny.
- 36:44Speaker 2: It was like he didn't know what.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Was going on.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, probably make an edit, maybe not that one,
- 36:51Speaker 3: but yeah, you know, like you obviously you know when
- 36:53Speaker 3: when Campbell comes back like that, that's like four or
- 36:56Speaker 3: five guys that they drafted last year. And you know,
- 36:58Speaker 3: if you want to Paul, don't roll your the kicker.
- 37:01Speaker 4: You know, he's been near perfect.
- 37:05Speaker 5: That's what that's what the kickers do. Yeah, I mean
- 37:07Speaker 5: we're just thought about.
- 37:08Speaker 3: But Campbell, Henderson, Wilson, Williams, Woodson, the kicker. I mean
- 37:14Speaker 3: that's four or five contributors at least from one draft class.
- 37:17Speaker 2: YEP.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I found myself like, this is a question I've think
- 37:20Speaker 1: I've talked to some of the reporters about. I just like,
- 37:22Speaker 1: I'm like Woodson, it's great, he's playing. Is he good?
- 37:24Speaker 2: Like?
- 37:24Speaker 3: Is he like?
- 37:25Speaker 2: Are we like?
- 37:26Speaker 10: Oh?
- 37:26Speaker 1: This is usually a rookie comes in and he starts
- 37:28Speaker 1: every game at safety for you, and you feel like, wow,
- 37:31Speaker 1: we found a gem and like and I like him.
- 37:33Speaker 1: But I just am finding myself wondering, you know, is
- 37:36Speaker 1: this within this scheme? I would think there should be
- 37:39Speaker 1: more plays to be made. He hasn't really made a
- 37:40Speaker 1: lot of plays on the ball. He's made some great tackles,
- 37:43Speaker 1: he's made some good you know. Do you think they knew.
- 37:45Speaker 2: That when they got rid of Douglar and Phillips? Yeah?
- 37:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean well I think I think they knew
- 37:51Speaker 1: they wanted to play too high slight.
- 37:53Speaker 2: I mean, Pepper, I'm sorry.
- 37:55Speaker 5: I know it.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I knew you were talking.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Why am I thinking Phillips, Adrian Phillips maybe, But anyway,
- 38:01Speaker 2: do you think when they got rid of the two
- 38:03Speaker 2: safeties veterans that they knew we got guys that it's
- 38:06Speaker 2: not going to be that it's going to be a
- 38:08Speaker 2: softer landing than you think.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Well, Woodson was already taking reps with the first team
- 38:13Speaker 3: at that point of the summer. Anyways, Like, I think
- 38:15Speaker 3: they had already made that transition right around Minnesota, right
- 38:18Speaker 3: around the joint practices with the Vikings. They they I
- 38:20Speaker 3: feel like they already decided that.
- 38:22Speaker 1: They were going to roll the slot a lot, and
- 38:24Speaker 1: I was like, what's going on here?
- 38:27Speaker 4: The concerted effort that they had throughout the offseason to
- 38:32Speaker 4: move on for as many people as they could.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but you don't do that if I
- 38:36Speaker 2: think you're not going to be able to you know,
- 38:39Speaker 2: they make up, you know, make up.
- 38:41Speaker 4: They were going to replace the guys they wanted. I
- 38:44Speaker 4: don't think that mattered as much to them as moving
- 38:46Speaker 4: on and having their guys, their voices being heard. I
- 38:49Speaker 4: think that was really important to Mike, and I think
- 38:51Speaker 4: that's the way it's played out.
- 38:53Speaker 5: I think Dougars played well for Pittsburgh. He's Betty solid.
- 38:56Speaker 4: I don't think it really has anything to do with
- 38:58Speaker 4: we think Woodson's this or that. I think Woodson's their
- 39:00Speaker 4: guy and they wanted to move on.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Well, why not get rid of those guys earlier than
- 39:03Speaker 1: Doug because they could have made it into camp because
- 39:05Speaker 1: they couldn't. The other guys they could just indiscriminately cut
- 39:09Speaker 1: with no penalty. They needed to try to do something
- 39:11Speaker 1: with Douger's contract and they ultimately were able to deal
- 39:15Speaker 1: with when they did. And I don't think, please don't
- 39:17Speaker 1: misunderstand this is this was a bad move. I think
- 39:21Speaker 1: the off season was a home run. They identified the
- 39:24Speaker 1: need like and also, don't take it the other way either, like,
- 39:28Speaker 1: oh Paul's now trashing guys like David Andrews.
- 39:31Speaker 5: No, I'm not.
- 39:32Speaker 4: I think it was important for Mike Vrabel to do
- 39:36Speaker 4: it to sort of forge his own path. I don't
- 39:39Speaker 4: want as many and it's I don't want those guys around.
- 39:42Speaker 4: I don't want the old regime around. And it wasn't
- 39:46Speaker 4: because those guys were bad influences, but there was guys
- 39:48Speaker 4: that were. You know, Jonathan Jones was a good player
- 39:50Speaker 4: for the Patriots. I think he thought it would be
- 39:53Speaker 4: better to move on Dietrich Wise, David Andrews, Jawan Bentley.
- 39:57Speaker 4: I think he thought there was value in moving on
- 40:00Speaker 4: from guys that were here before, because he knows he's
- 40:03Speaker 4: going to be dealing with a lot of young guys
- 40:05Speaker 4: that Evan just talked about the draft class that need
- 40:08Speaker 4: my voice, not.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Maybe someone else's voice who might say.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Well, that's weird that Mike's doing it this way. Bill
- 40:16Speaker 4: used to do it this way, you know. And again,
- 40:18Speaker 4: not because those guys are bad influences. But I think
- 40:22Speaker 4: that there's a reason why they moved on from as
- 40:24Speaker 4: many veterans as they did, and I think he wanted
- 40:27Speaker 4: his message to be the only message.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see that because we talked about it
- 40:31Speaker 1: last year. Of what point does this is how we
- 40:34Speaker 1: did it back when the page when I was with
- 40:35Speaker 1: the Patriots, Like well, like that doesn't resonate anymore. And
- 40:38Speaker 1: I totally get the point of, you know, wanting to
- 40:40Speaker 1: have his voice be the primary voice. I just say,
- 40:42Speaker 1: with the safety position, it does seem dramatically different to
- 40:44Speaker 1: me from what they used to want to do, which
- 40:46Speaker 1: was have a high free safety and have a safety
- 40:48Speaker 1: in the box who basically played linebacker, And now they
- 40:50Speaker 1: want two free safeties who can go down and back
- 40:52Speaker 1: and down and back and do whatever they want. And
- 40:55Speaker 1: I think that that example in Minnesota to me was
- 40:58Speaker 1: like to your point, Paul, looking for some them for peppers, Like,
- 41:00Speaker 1: you know, is this guy gonna be able to cover
- 41:02Speaker 1: in the slot? You know, it's just like, whoa, this
- 41:04Speaker 1: is not what this guy does having to chase you know.
- 41:06Speaker 4: One of the movies, and you know you cannot criticize it.
- 41:11Speaker 5: It's worked.
- 41:11Speaker 4: No, I think that the biggest, one of the biggest
- 41:14Speaker 4: I'm not talking about the record. That's obvious. And I
- 41:16Speaker 4: think you can make an arm about the locker room. Yeah, yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 4: talking about the locks.
- 41:21Speaker 2: You ever seen a team and you know, maybe it's
- 41:23Speaker 2: all fluff, but that more has been made about the
- 41:27Speaker 2: bond that seems to have been you know, built on
- 41:30Speaker 2: this team and the family and all this stuff like well,
- 41:33Speaker 2: like we've seen, you know, teams that have had good
- 41:35Speaker 2: locker rooms before, but this one, Yeah, it's something.
- 41:38Speaker 4: I think it's a big part of their success. Is
- 41:40Speaker 4: it overshadows. I think it makes up for some of
- 41:44Speaker 4: the things that they may be lacking. So in other words,
- 41:48Speaker 4: you can make an argument right now that they they
- 41:51Speaker 4: since Milton Williams got hurt. They really struggled stopping the run.
- 41:54Speaker 4: I know they were leaking a little bit before then,
- 41:56Speaker 4: but the games, the four games that Milton Williams was out,
- 42:00Speaker 4: they couldn't stop the run.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Do you think they could use Keon White?
- 42:04Speaker 4: No, I'm not talking about a difference maker. I don't
- 42:08Speaker 4: think that they could use ke On White because I
- 42:10Speaker 4: think he was a problem and I don't think that
- 42:12Speaker 4: they wanted a.
- 42:13Speaker 5: Guy who was going to be wondering about is.
- 42:16Speaker 4: That the right message to be sending, because clearly in
- 42:18Speaker 4: his two years in New England he had no problems
- 42:20Speaker 4: questioning the message, questioning the coaching. He might be a
- 42:24Speaker 4: better player than Corey. He is a better player than
- 42:28Speaker 4: Corey Durden.
- 42:28Speaker 3: He's a different kind of player, but he's not going
- 42:30Speaker 3: to help me.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Corey Durden is because Corey Durden is.
- 42:34Speaker 4: On board and he's my guy, and he is playing
- 42:38Speaker 4: for me on Joshua Farmer And you know, Eric Gregory
- 42:43Speaker 4: White's probably a better player than all of those guys,
- 42:46Speaker 4: but he's not a better player for the Patriots because
- 42:48Speaker 4: he's not all on board.
- 42:50Speaker 2: What he gains from the intangibles of not having him
- 42:53Speaker 2: is more valuable to him than having him.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it's definitely being stop the run in.
- 43:00Speaker 4: The point, he's a better player than the guys that
- 43:02Speaker 4: aren't stopping the run right now, I mean a better
- 43:04Speaker 4: player than.
- 43:05Speaker 3: He's a better player. I mean he has a different
- 43:08Speaker 3: skill set.
- 43:08Speaker 4: But yeah, I agree, it's not apples to apples, just
- 43:11Speaker 4: like Corey, Kyle Dugger has a different skill set than
- 43:14Speaker 4: Craig Woodson.
- 43:15Speaker 5: It's not apples to apples.
- 43:16Speaker 4: But those guys can still play, but they're just not
- 43:20Speaker 4: great fits.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I think, you know, going you know, there's obviously the
- 43:24Speaker 3: contract angle, but like going into training camp, you know,
- 43:27Speaker 3: Craig Woodson's a rookie, like so, until you start to
- 43:30Speaker 3: see it in practice and see him practicing in competitive settings.
- 43:34Speaker 3: To pull the plug on Kyle Dugger and say we're
- 43:36Speaker 3: going to start this fourth round pick without seeing him
- 43:39Speaker 3: in any competitive practices or seeing him in joint practice
- 43:42Speaker 3: or anything, is like that, that's putting yourself at risk.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Once they had saw Craig Woodson play for three four
- 43:48Speaker 3: weeks in training camp and saw that he could handle it,
- 43:52Speaker 3: then you know, now you feel a lot more comfortable
- 43:54Speaker 3: moving on from Peppers and Duggers, So I think that
- 43:57Speaker 3: that contributes it as well.
- 43:59Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's all part of it.
- 44:01Speaker 3: To Duce's question about Woodson, like, I don't think he's
- 44:04Speaker 3: an impact safety. I don't think he's going to be
- 44:07Speaker 3: a playmaking safety.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Get there.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I mean the bigger question is just like is this
- 44:11Speaker 1: a guy that is there and we're building around him
- 44:13Speaker 1: he's a rookie he's played every time, or is he
- 44:14Speaker 1: a guy that he's there right now but we're going
- 44:16Speaker 1: to continue to throw players. I mean, Hawkins is a
- 44:19Speaker 1: free agent, so they already got one decision to make
- 44:21Speaker 1: it one of the safety spots. But you know, I
- 44:22Speaker 1: just it's one of those weird things where rookie comes
- 44:25Speaker 1: in plays every snap on defense and you still feel
- 44:27Speaker 1: kind of like, no, that's nice, but like is he
- 44:28Speaker 1: a playmaker? Is he is he at above replacement level
- 44:31Speaker 1: type player? I'm still I'm still he is.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Still just a rookie, so he could, so he could.
- 44:35Speaker 3: That's why it reminds me so much of the Rutgers
- 44:39Speaker 3: boys like Carmon Logan Ryan that like are those guys sacklers?
- 44:43Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 44:43Speaker 3: Like are they great players? Like are they number one
- 44:46Speaker 3: corners or number one safety, No, but like they are
- 44:50Speaker 3: serviceable NFL starters that can play a role and play
- 44:53Speaker 3: a position, and you're not You're not going to be
- 44:56Speaker 3: taken on water because they're out there. You know, Harmon
- 44:58Speaker 3: had all those you know, perceptions on arm punts late
- 45:02Speaker 3: in games and things like that. No respect to disrespect,
- 45:05Speaker 3: but you know, at the same like that kind of player.
- 45:07Speaker 2: I think.
- 45:08Speaker 3: I think Woodson's maybe a little bit more physical Thandron
- 45:10Speaker 3: Harmon was, But there are similar types of players where
- 45:13Speaker 3: I think he's just going to be mentally physically sound,
- 45:16Speaker 3: you know, his technique, his assignments, you know, all that
- 45:20Speaker 3: kind of stuff, you know, but he's not necessarily going to,
- 45:22Speaker 3: you know, be a big time player, right for you.
- 45:24Speaker 2: A couple of emails and calls, We'll get to those
- 45:29Speaker 2: in a second. Justin Wrights in. Patriots Nation is the
- 45:33Speaker 2: greatest fan base in the league, but it can also
- 45:35Speaker 2: be the worst. When things were looking rough in the
- 45:38Speaker 2: Ravens game, across social media, I was seeing comments such
- 45:40Speaker 2: as were one and done twenty twenty one all over
- 45:43Speaker 2: again where frauds I was too. It was ridiculous. Calm down.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You got so used to the last few years that
- 45:50Speaker 2: you lose confidence the second the team faulters just relax.
- 45:55Speaker 2: It's true. I mean, look at NFL all these other games.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Good teams have to overcome things at times. I mean,
- 46:02Speaker 2: that's what happens.
- 46:03Speaker 1: I brought up to Paul recently. Do you think that
- 46:05Speaker 1: there's any impact that social media kind of came about
- 46:08Speaker 1: while the Patriots were in their dynasty heyday and so
- 46:13Speaker 1: kind of like Patriot fans on top of the world
- 46:17Speaker 1: is like kind of an institution since the start of
- 46:19Speaker 1: social media, and it just feels like that's where the
- 46:22Speaker 1: collective fan base feels like they're rightful place is in
- 46:24Speaker 1: the structure of it all, like oh, we're back, Like
- 46:27Speaker 1: now we're on social media. Now we can go trash
- 46:29Speaker 1: talk everybody again. You know, we can do all those things.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 46:32Speaker 5: Did they stop trash talking? No, I'm probably not.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Let's go to the phones. Eight five to five pats
- 46:37Speaker 2: five hundred herms in DC, what's up? Herm herm DC
- 46:45Speaker 2: ploffs Hey, hell yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:51Speaker 11: Don't let some fool in, I mean, get you all up,
- 46:55Speaker 11: you know, they just you know, that's that's what they're
- 46:58Speaker 11: trying to do. Rather get you all robbed up and
- 46:59Speaker 11: get you, you know, trink out your position, but we
- 47:03Speaker 11: back and we ain't going anywhere.
- 47:04Speaker 2: So just yeah, I mean, I'm off for the criticism.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And at one point there was like a legitimate I
- 47:09Speaker 2: think it was a play call and I let people
- 47:12Speaker 2: go and people had both sides, and I brought those
- 47:15Speaker 2: comments in, but I'm not gonna post you if you
- 47:18Speaker 2: just like we're frauds, you know, like go away, go away.
- 47:23Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, and I hear you. Two quick comments and
- 47:27Speaker 11: the question. So first comment, Obviously I was at the game,
- 47:31Speaker 11: and obviously I'm watching Biggs, and I just couldn't help
- 47:35Speaker 11: to think about it could have been maybe you know, Brett.
- 47:39Speaker 12: And I or uh, you know, Calvin Ridley.
- 47:43Speaker 11: And somebody else in that ager, and I just I
- 47:46Speaker 11: don't know. I was a little sick of my stomach
- 47:47Speaker 11: thinking about that, because I think BIG's almost like a
- 47:51Speaker 11: god said bought Drake and specifically right obviously killed the
- 47:55Speaker 11: Ravens in a homecoming game. But besides that, I was
- 48:00Speaker 11: looking down towards the bench and I think we were
- 48:02Speaker 11: down with eleven and fourth quarter.
- 48:05Speaker 12: All I can see is Diggs signal into his teammates
- 48:09Speaker 12: like listen, chin up, we'll be fine, right, chin up,
- 48:12Speaker 12: will be fine.
- 48:12Speaker 11: And when I saw that, that kind of like helped
- 48:15Speaker 11: me relax and I knew that, okay, we at least
- 48:17Speaker 11: gonna come back and go to overtime. But I guess
- 48:20Speaker 11: what overpoint for that was. I mean, this is religious
- 48:23Speaker 11: a godsend for Drake May.
- 48:26Speaker 12: Then the game wing drift for Drake May, it was
- 48:28Speaker 12: just I mean it was like he was performing surgery, right,
- 48:31Speaker 12: it was just being bang boom nine plays.
- 48:34Speaker 11: So for a young guy to be.
- 48:36Speaker 12: Able to do that and that spot is is I mean,
- 48:40Speaker 12: it's not only impressive but obviously super encouraging going to.
- 48:45Speaker 7: The playoffs.
- 48:45Speaker 11: But my question is, so Matthew Stafford right, his numbers.
- 48:53Speaker 12: Yes, currently he leased the MVP race, but wouldn't his
- 48:58Speaker 12: numbers more qualify for him being maybe like off the player.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Of the year could be both, but yeah, I.
- 49:04Speaker 7: Could be biased.
- 49:06Speaker 11: Oh, I could be biased, But obviously I think.
- 49:08Speaker 12: Jake mincheld be leading MVP race for the effect that
- 49:12Speaker 12: I mean, he's done more with less team. That's what
- 49:16Speaker 12: I'm saying is, yeah, they won twelve games for the
- 49:19Speaker 12: team that won eight games in two years. So I mean,
- 49:23Speaker 12: if he doesn't win it this year, then I don't know,
- 49:26Speaker 12: I just be a little dispoint in the voters because
- 49:28Speaker 12: I feel they're looking at the wrong thing, especially considering
- 49:33Speaker 12: Josh Allen won it last year, which I would have
- 49:35Speaker 12: ordered him about.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Well, Lamar had better numbers, but they figured Josh did
- 49:39Speaker 2: more with less and the same reasoning should come into
- 49:41Speaker 2: play this year. Could Yeah, yeah, all right, thanks her.
- 49:45Speaker 3: I think I think the MVP is going to be
- 49:47Speaker 3: really interesting because the voting list is interesting.
- 49:52Speaker 5: But the voting list is.
- 49:53Speaker 3: A lot of people that are, you know, on my
- 49:55Speaker 3: side of the isle in terms of how they approach
- 49:58Speaker 3: the job. You know, it's a lot of the men
- 49:59Speaker 3: A times is and those types of people that are
- 50:02Speaker 3: you know, into the analytics and into you know, film
- 50:05Speaker 3: watching and things like that. And right now, Matthew Stafford
- 50:08Speaker 3: has the traditional stats. He has more touchdown passes, he
- 50:12Speaker 3: has fewer interceptions, he has more passing yards. Drake has
- 50:15Speaker 3: him in completion percentage, but Stafford has a higher passer
- 50:18Speaker 3: rating than Drake.
- 50:19Speaker 2: May if you watch the game, May plays if you
- 50:21Speaker 2: just watch you know the stats, but May no.
- 50:25Speaker 5: If you watch the game, Evans.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Evan's right, no, but I mean watching the game, it's
- 50:33Speaker 4: going to be very similar to me as last year.
- 50:35Speaker 4: If you watch the game, Lamar Jackson was the MVP
- 50:37Speaker 4: last year, but you gave Josh Allen more credit because
- 50:42Speaker 4: he was doing with less. They don't have Pookin Nakula,
- 50:46Speaker 4: they don't even have DeVante Adams. They certainly don't have
- 50:49Speaker 4: a two man backfield with with the best running game,
- 50:55Speaker 4: and that an incredible offensives them, right, But that's what
- 51:04Speaker 4: it's going to come down to. And you know, QBR
- 51:07Speaker 4: takes what takes into consideration all the running that Drake
- 51:10Speaker 4: May has done.
- 51:11Speaker 3: That's what I was gonna like, Drake May hasn't beaten
- 51:14Speaker 3: all the advanced analytics, So I'm interested to see, you know,
- 51:19Speaker 3: is it going to be the that's gonna be mean?
- 51:22Speaker 5: Is it going to be the.
- 51:23Speaker 3: People that prioritize things like passing touchdowns and yards and
- 51:26Speaker 3: that sort of stuff, or is it going to be
- 51:29Speaker 3: the QBR, the EPA per drop back and you know
- 51:32Speaker 3: that sort of crowd of it because those things, you know,
- 51:36Speaker 3: EPA and QBR take into account that Drake May is
- 51:39Speaker 3: going to run for over four hundred yards. Matthew Stafford
- 51:42Speaker 3: doesn't run, you know, so like these are all elements
- 51:45Speaker 3: of it that I think you know are.
- 51:47Speaker 5: In Drake May's favor.
- 51:48Speaker 3: So if you want to make the case for Drake May,
- 51:50Speaker 3: you have to kind of do it with the analytics.
- 51:52Speaker 3: And if you want to make the case for Matthew Stafford,
- 51:54Speaker 3: you say, well, he's you know, got what is it?
- 51:56Speaker 3: I think it's like thirty five touchdown passes now or
- 51:58Speaker 3: something like that, and in the forties, you know, or
- 52:01Speaker 3: forty Yeah, I think it's forty. I think it's like
- 52:03Speaker 3: forty to five. It's touchdown interception.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Great if they did it by who is most valuable
- 52:08Speaker 2: for the team.
- 52:08Speaker 4: And I think you can make an argument either way
- 52:10Speaker 4: on that, because there ain't no way that Rams offense
- 52:12Speaker 4: is looking like that with somebody else plan.
- 52:16Speaker 5: No, h doesn't look like that when Garoppolo plays.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Yeah, forty touchdowns, five interceptions.
- 52:22Speaker 4: But I think that that a very good argument can
- 52:25Speaker 4: be made for Drake May. And this Evan just made
- 52:28Speaker 4: it a lot with numbers. I would just make it
- 52:30Speaker 4: with just this year talent that that he's dealing with.
- 52:35Speaker 4: I don't think it's fair to say that it's a
- 52:36Speaker 4: team with he wins the previous few years that that
- 52:39Speaker 4: team's gone, they Mike Rabel and Elliott Wolf deserve all
- 52:42Speaker 4: the credit for completely overturning the roster. It's like a
- 52:45Speaker 4: fifty turnover. So I think it's going to be an interesting,
- 52:50Speaker 4: interesting race. To me, it's been a two man race
- 52:52Speaker 4: all along. I you know, I think the world of
- 52:54Speaker 4: Josh Allen. I don't think that he's in this race.
- 52:56Speaker 4: I don't think it's even close. These two guys have
- 52:58Speaker 4: separated themselves. I think you could go either way. I
- 53:01Speaker 4: don't think it's the wrong choice if they go with Stafford,
- 53:04Speaker 4: he's been that good. But I can absolutely make a
- 53:07Speaker 4: case with Drake May.
- 53:08Speaker 2: Nate and Connecticut. What's up, Nate, I just had a.
- 53:15Speaker 13: Couple of thumps on these next finals games, we can
- 53:24Speaker 13: I think we should at least bench some of our starters.
- 53:28Speaker 13: I feel like we should uh have them healthy, uh
- 53:31Speaker 13: for the playoffs, considering all the injuries that we have,
- 53:35Speaker 13: and considering that during the game on Sunday night, I
- 53:41Speaker 13: saw Drake may come off the field with a bit
- 53:42Speaker 13: of a limp. Thankfully it wasn't anything too serious. But
- 53:46Speaker 13: I just want to keep in mind that, you know,
- 53:49Speaker 13: we don't want any more injuries than we already have
- 53:51Speaker 13: because they're piling up a lot, and I really think
- 53:55Speaker 13: that the full healthy team that we have a good
- 53:57Speaker 13: potential to make it really far into the playoff.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Yeah, so I hear what you're saying. You know, Patriots
- 54:02Speaker 2: are you know, playoff guaranteed. They still want to get
- 54:06Speaker 2: the AFC East. But what's more important getting that you know,
- 54:10Speaker 2: home playoff game at some point? Or you know the
- 54:13Speaker 2: Patriots are road warriors this year? Is that more important
- 54:16Speaker 2: than being healthy?
- 54:18Speaker 3: I think you could make the case that they could
- 54:20Speaker 3: probably beat the Jets and the Dolphins down a few guys,
- 54:23Speaker 3: And if you want to take that route, then that
- 54:26Speaker 3: you could definitely make that case. You know if I
- 54:30Speaker 3: think it becomes more interesting if they clinch it this week,
- 54:33Speaker 3: if the Eagles beat the Bills, and then Week eighteen
- 54:36Speaker 3: is pretty much meaningless against Quinn Yewers.
- 54:40Speaker 2: And the Dolphins. What what if Broncos lose this week?
- 54:43Speaker 3: Well, they're playing the Chiefs and they're not going to lose.
- 54:48Speaker 5: Big.
- 54:49Speaker 3: But do you and I'm not talking about you can't
- 54:52Speaker 3: bench everybody, right, that's another common mis like you can't
- 54:55Speaker 3: some people have to play.
- 54:56Speaker 1: You got a bunch of injuries too, Like you have
- 54:58Speaker 1: much of a choice.
- 54:59Speaker 3: But like if you take out you know, if you
- 55:02Speaker 3: rest splain for the rest of the regular season, if
- 55:05Speaker 3: you rest some of the guys that got banged up,
- 55:07Speaker 3: you know on Sunday night for the rest of the season. Yeah,
- 55:10Speaker 3: can you beat Brady Cooking Quinn yours with like seven
- 55:14Speaker 3: inactives that are all yes, injured.
- 55:16Speaker 4: All relevant players. Yes, I agreeably. I agree with you
- 55:19Speaker 4: one thousand percent. I always answer this question the same way.
- 55:22Speaker 4: It's a case by case basis. You tell me what
- 55:24Speaker 4: the player is. I'll tell you if I think that
- 55:26Speaker 4: there's a chance that you should, you should do it.
- 55:28Speaker 4: You know, will Campbell coming off IR, he can come
- 55:31Speaker 4: off IR for.
- 55:31Speaker 5: The Miami game.
- 55:33Speaker 4: I probably wouldn't do it. I'd probably wait. I'd play him,
- 55:37Speaker 4: you know, just to make sure he's healthy for the playoffs.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Milton Williams this week if if this is if he
- 55:42Speaker 4: at all, and again I'm going I'm operating under the
- 55:44Speaker 4: it's a fifth you know, you can play, you know,
- 55:47Speaker 4: like Mogan Moses clearly wasn't one hundred percent. I think
- 55:50Speaker 4: if they had the druthers, he would have sat the
- 55:53Speaker 4: rest of that game, but he had to.
- 55:55Speaker 5: Be out there.
- 55:56Speaker 4: I don't want to play Will Campbell and Milton Williams
- 55:59Speaker 4: under those circums is Robert Splaine. But if other guy,
- 56:04Speaker 4: if a guy is healthy enough to play, then I
- 56:08Speaker 4: that I want to play them, you know, like.
- 56:10Speaker 2: In this particular case we talked about locker room earlier.
- 56:13Speaker 2: In this particular team, if you're Mike Rabel and you're
- 56:17Speaker 2: reading the room and Robert Splaine is wants to play,
- 56:21Speaker 2: and Milton Williams wants to play, do you have to
- 56:25Speaker 2: kind of play him? You know, that's the way everybody
- 56:28Speaker 2: wants to contribute. Stefan Diggs is sneaking out the back
- 56:30Speaker 2: of the blue tent because he wants to get that
- 56:32Speaker 2: in the medical.
- 56:35Speaker 3: The only reason why I might err on the side
- 56:37Speaker 3: of playing Campbell's because I don't want Daniel Hunter and
- 56:40Speaker 3: Will Anderson coming off the left side and he hasn't
- 56:42Speaker 3: taken a rep in five weeks like that, that's I think,
- 56:46Speaker 3: you know, there's a rust factor there that there is
- 56:49Speaker 3: that I would be concerned about. So if he if
- 56:51Speaker 3: he's one hundred percent healthy to play against the Dolphins
- 56:54Speaker 3: in Week eighteen.
- 56:55Speaker 4: It's a different argument. If he's one hundred percent healthy, Okay,
- 56:58Speaker 4: I want him to play.
- 56:59Speaker 3: If he's as close to one hundred percent healthy as
- 57:01Speaker 3: he's going to be. But I'm talking about it. It's iffy,
- 57:05Speaker 3: and you want to get him back just to get
- 57:06Speaker 3: him sup work. I would sit him, yeah, but if
- 57:09Speaker 3: it's if it's you know, yeah, sure, I would just
- 57:12Speaker 3: worry about him going into the playoffs cold. But he
- 57:15Speaker 3: hasn't taken a live game a month.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Definitely a fair play.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Riley's in Phoenix, Riley.
- 57:25Speaker 8: Are we doing fellows?
- 57:26Speaker 2: Okay?
- 57:28Speaker 8: Hey, So two quick things here. One, I hope that
- 57:33Speaker 8: this win has silenced some of the critics a little bit.
- 57:37Speaker 8: May not being able to come back in the fourth
- 57:39Speaker 8: quarter against one of the best defenses as of late
- 57:42Speaker 8: in the season.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Not that that was a huge for me, but I know.
- 57:47Speaker 8: That it was for a lot of people unsure you know,
- 57:50Speaker 8: he was capable of that, and I think he clearly
- 57:52Speaker 8: went out and showed that he is and the kind
- 57:55Speaker 8: of player that he's going to be for the future.
- 58:00Speaker 8: And then the second thing here is just going to
- 58:03Speaker 8: beat the dead horse a little bit with that non
- 58:06Speaker 8: p I call. This is just getting absolutely out of hand.
- 58:10Speaker 8: The last couple of seasons, the officiating has been absolutely
- 58:14Speaker 8: astrocious and it's honestly unfortunate for US fans because it
- 58:20Speaker 8: ruins the viewing experience and a lot of these games.
- 58:23Speaker 2: I hear you.
- 58:25Speaker 8: It's just it's awful. You want to call the bs
- 58:28Speaker 8: P I on booty for barely flapping the guy's hands down,
- 58:34Speaker 8: But then you're not going to call the blatantly obvious
- 58:36Speaker 8: PI that my You know, a blind person could see.
- 58:40Speaker 8: I mean, come on, what are we doing?
- 58:42Speaker 2: Yep?
- 58:43Speaker 8: But anyways, I'll take it off the air aby all.
- 58:46Speaker 2: It is guys, Thanks Riley. No, I hear what you're saying.
- 58:50Speaker 2: That was ridiculous. That was he turned them, he tugged him,
- 58:54Speaker 2: and then he tackled his leg No, he tackled his legs.
- 58:56Speaker 4: That's the inaffairness and everything else. I was fine with
- 58:59Speaker 4: down the field, I was he literally tackled the player.
- 59:04Speaker 5: How does someone not see that?
- 59:06Speaker 2: I don't know, But you know what, I can see

- 1:02:32Speaker 16: through the week of practice, and uh, you know, go
- 1:02:35Speaker 16: from there.
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: I know he worked extremely hard.
- 1:02:40Speaker 16: Off with the strength and conditioning staff, with the with
- 1:02:44Speaker 16: the training staff, and involved in meetings.
- 1:02:47Speaker 7: So that's really hard to do, is.
- 1:02:50Speaker 16: To be engaged in meetings when you know you're not
- 1:02:52Speaker 16: going to play and have some time and so appreciate
- 1:02:55Speaker 16: what he's done here and and his leadership and his
- 1:02:58Speaker 16: willingness to try to get back.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Speaking of what was just how was the team holding
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: up some place.
- 1:03:07Speaker 7: That's part of it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 17: You know.
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: I think that.
- 1:03:12Speaker 16: We'll figure out where things are later in the week,
- 1:03:14Speaker 16: and everybody's been getting treatment. We got back late, so
- 1:03:19Speaker 16: today will be a good opportunity just to you know,
- 1:03:22Speaker 16: see a little bit of you know activity. I'll walk
- 1:03:27Speaker 16: through albeit, but get guys up moving around. A couple
- 1:03:31Speaker 16: of guys in the protocol, and again that that's I
- 1:03:35Speaker 16: would say that those are the guys that you're most
- 1:03:38Speaker 16: conscious of from just a you know, mental well being
- 1:03:44Speaker 16: and not not getting frustrated by how they feel. Tell
- 1:03:47Speaker 16: everybody to do the same thing. Just be honest with
- 1:03:50Speaker 16: how you're feeling. Talk to the doctors, talk to the trainer.
- 1:03:54Speaker 16: You know, we do evaluation every day, we do a
- 1:03:57Speaker 16: symptoms score. So I think those are the ones that
- 1:04:02Speaker 16: you want to just try to focus on. The guys
- 1:04:03Speaker 16: that have an ankle or whatever it might be that
- 1:04:06Speaker 16: need it, you know, they're going to be okay. Sometimes
- 1:04:10Speaker 16: it any of these things that relates to concussions can
- 1:04:14Speaker 16: react differently and there's no pre described, pre described amount
- 1:04:19Speaker 16: of time that they're going to be out. Uh well,
- 1:04:24Speaker 16: Trayvion's in it, and Booty's in it, and Jared Wilson.
- 1:04:27Speaker 18: Is in protocol does this time of year, Mike with
- 1:04:30Speaker 18: succession spat as the team how badly you guys want
- 1:04:34Speaker 18: to get the lineup, continue to do what they're doing
- 1:04:36Speaker 18: the Morgan the sideline the other day, wheneverything you could
- 1:04:39Speaker 18: possibly get back in there.
- 1:04:41Speaker 16: I mean, it's it's all of these guys have ever known,
- 1:04:44Speaker 16: you know, since the time that they started playing football,
- 1:04:46Speaker 16: they wanted to be out there, and they go to
- 1:04:48Speaker 16: college and they want to be out there, and then
- 1:04:49Speaker 16: they go to the NFL and they want to be
- 1:04:51Speaker 16: out there. That's you only get one opportunity a week.
- 1:04:55Speaker 16: It means a lot to them. Love for guys to
- 1:04:58Speaker 16: find ways in as opposed to looking for ways out.
- 1:05:02Speaker 16: But then sometimes that's not always the case.
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: They can't go in there.
- 1:05:05Speaker 16: So we appreciate every everyone that you know, makes an
- 1:05:09Speaker 16: effort to finish the game or get to the game
- 1:05:12Speaker 16: and whatever that may be, and whatever capacity that they
- 1:05:15Speaker 16: can help us.
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: So I think that's just what they that's all they know.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:05:21Speaker 16: You up play I significant VOLUMEO snaps with your base personnel,
- 1:05:25Speaker 16: like the last two weeks, all that's challenge your defense,
- 1:05:28Speaker 16: like how do you seek.
- 1:05:29Speaker 7: Sorry, that friv play base defense.
- 1:05:34Speaker 16: Yeah, I just think that's predicated on some of the
- 1:05:36Speaker 16: things that they're doing offensively and the personnel groupings that
- 1:05:39Speaker 16: they are in. And we'll have to, you know, continue
- 1:05:43Speaker 16: to do that versus the Jets and stop the run
- 1:05:46Speaker 16: and try to find ways to get off the field
- 1:05:49Speaker 16: on third down.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Like they just announced the Pro Bowl rosters. If you
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: guys are twelve and three and only have two Pro Bowlers,
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: just curious or reaction?
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Does that irk you at all?
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: Or they got that? No, it does not at all?
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: What I guess, what does that say about maybe the season?
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: You guys are happy?
- 1:06:07Speaker 16: Says that we're twelve and three and that we have
- 1:06:11Speaker 16: two guys that the coaches and the fans and the
- 1:06:14Speaker 16: players felt worthy enough to make the first ballot.
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: We've got some alternates.
- 1:06:20Speaker 16: I wouldn't imagine that that would be I'm sure guys
- 1:06:24Speaker 16: are are disappointed. There's five, however, many five palm returners
- 1:06:27Speaker 16: that had two touchdowns. I mean, that's I don't know
- 1:06:30Speaker 16: how many years that's happened, But that and all right there.
- 1:06:33Speaker 16: But you know, I think Marcus is at a healthy
- 1:06:36Speaker 16: year and I think he's a pro barn. I'm glad
- 1:06:37Speaker 16: he's our returner and glad he's helped us out. But
- 1:06:41Speaker 16: sometimes that just doesn't happen. And we're focused on wins.
- 1:06:45Speaker 16: We said that last week. The players they make fun
- 1:06:47Speaker 16: of me, but you know, we're chasing wins and not plays,
- 1:06:50Speaker 16: and if we make enough plays that are winning, that'll
- 1:06:54Speaker 16: be enough.
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: That'll that'll be all we need. And so, you know,
- 1:06:58Speaker 7: don't really have much else to add on approval right
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: now that you guys have pinched a playoff, what's your
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: message for this week?
- 1:07:06Speaker 16: Yeah, there's well, just unfinished business. I can't focus on
- 1:07:09Speaker 16: the next two weeks. We've got to focus on this
- 1:07:11Speaker 16: week and going on the road to a great environment,
- 1:07:15Speaker 16: going to New York City playing the Jets, and unfinished business.
- 1:07:19Speaker 16: We want to be undefeated on the road. I think
- 1:07:20Speaker 16: that that's that's something that's unique. I'm sure you guys
- 1:07:25Speaker 16: will tell me how many times it's happened before, but
- 1:07:28Speaker 16: there you go. So that's something that I think is special.
- 1:07:34Speaker 16: Still still want to play for the division. We want
- 1:07:36Speaker 16: to win the division. I haven't done in a long time.
- 1:07:39Speaker 16: And whoever we put out there and whoever we you know,
- 1:07:42Speaker 16: play with, is going to have to have that in
- 1:07:43Speaker 16: mind and then be prepared to do that, you know,
- 1:07:47Speaker 16: against the team that's you know, playing playing some young guys.
- 1:07:51Speaker 16: They've got some good veterans. They're playing well on third down. Defensively,
- 1:07:56Speaker 16: I think they have a really really good offensive line.
- 1:07:58Speaker 16: I think they they move people. I like the way
- 1:08:01Speaker 16: they play. I like their play demeanor. Two really good, young,
- 1:08:05Speaker 16: talented tackles. You know, guards try to finish you. And
- 1:08:10Speaker 16: so again they got speed Breis Hall. You know, it
- 1:08:13Speaker 16: can make you miss. Mitchell's getting more comfortable in the
- 1:08:18Speaker 16: offense and all that. So you know, we just there's
- 1:08:21Speaker 16: some unfinished business and we're not The season isn't over.
- 1:08:24Speaker 16: This wasn't our goal, and I'm excited that we won.
- 1:08:27Speaker 16: But we've we've moved on.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: What's allowed?
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: What have you observed? It allowed?
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: Alum flourish a receivers dirty against Mocker, that's the last.
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: Es and he works hard. I think he's got a
- 1:08:40Speaker 7: good catch radius. I think I think he's improved. I
- 1:08:46Speaker 7: think that to his credit.
- 1:08:48Speaker 16: I think Todd has done a nice job with his
- 1:08:50Speaker 16: skill set and you know, trying to play big and
- 1:08:52Speaker 16: play through contact.
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: And I think he's fearless.
- 1:08:55Speaker 16: I think some of his best catches are you know
- 1:08:57Speaker 16: some of those in cuts where I mean he's extending
- 1:09:00Speaker 16: his body and he's he's trusting you know that Drake's
- 1:09:04Speaker 16: looked out in front of him and puts it up
- 1:09:06Speaker 16: there where nobody else can get it. And yeah, that
- 1:09:10Speaker 16: can't be an easy, you know task to go in
- 1:09:12Speaker 16: there and you know, go up nine or ten feet
- 1:09:15Speaker 16: and catch an in cut and hope that you're not
- 1:09:18Speaker 16: going to get nailed on the other side of it.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Mike from completely disinterested up to highly interested.
- 1:09:24Speaker 4: What's your level when it comes to watching the results
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: around the league and that you're in the playoffs round
- 1:09:30Speaker 4: and figure out where you're seating.
- 1:09:31Speaker 16: Whatever else would be I would say somewhat slightly disinterested,
- 1:09:38Speaker 16: I would have thought a route. I just think Ben
- 1:09:42Speaker 16: applies everything that we want in building this program, and
- 1:09:46Speaker 16: you know, cares deeply about the team, plays multiple positions,
- 1:09:51Speaker 16: is a great teammate, plays with effort and finish, and
- 1:09:56Speaker 16: you know, tries to work and can prove and you
- 1:09:58Speaker 16: know it's find a role for him self here and
- 1:10:01Speaker 16: well excited to have him.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: It might reasons Elijah Pond who developed invalidated your faith
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: from under roster out.
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: Of camp mm hmmm.
- 1:10:12Speaker 16: Just comfort, you know, it's it's got all the talent
- 1:10:16Speaker 16: in the world, and just understanding this league, understanding the
- 1:10:21Speaker 16: the urgency of it and how quickly things happen, and
- 1:10:25Speaker 16: special teams and transition into third down and helping us
- 1:10:29Speaker 16: or being a role player off first and second down, and.
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: You know, trying for me not to take those things
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: for granted.
- 1:10:36Speaker 16: That a young player that played at a smaller school
- 1:10:38Speaker 16: in California could come.
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: Across the country. And so I think that that's just
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: credit to him.
- 1:10:43Speaker 16: And credit to Jeremy and and Smitty, you know, for
- 1:10:48Speaker 16: continuing to help him improve and then ultimately himself, you know,
- 1:10:52Speaker 16: going out there and getting cover comfortable, dropped him in
- 1:10:55Speaker 16: some coverage. Sometimes we've rushed him. He plays on special teams.
- 1:11:00Speaker 16: There's a lot of things that he's done for us.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Mike, I'm curious the gig punt return.
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: When you watch that battle, can you just explain a
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: little bit.
- 1:11:10Speaker 16: About it, not the fake punt return. I wish we
- 1:11:13Speaker 16: were returning it there, you know, something that we had practiced,
- 1:11:17Speaker 16: something that I felt confident in. It wouldn't have called
- 1:11:19Speaker 16: it if if we didn't feel confident in it. Unfortunately
- 1:11:23Speaker 16: it didn't work. So it was a bad call by me,
- 1:11:26Speaker 16: and uh, you know, just told Tay to to throw it,
- 1:11:30Speaker 16: you know what I mean, give it a chance, Give
- 1:11:31Speaker 16: give jack a chance. If the guy dropped out of there,
- 1:11:33Speaker 16: he dropped out of there, but try to give it
- 1:11:35Speaker 16: a chance. It certainly wasn't designed to you know, to run,
- 1:11:39Speaker 16: and he just felt like it wasn't there and he
- 1:11:42Speaker 16: made a decision. So I made a decision to try
- 1:11:45Speaker 16: to play. I'll make other calls and be good ones
- 1:11:49Speaker 16: and they'll be you know, bad ones as well. So
- 1:11:53Speaker 16: just felt like we needed something there and it didn't
- 1:11:55Speaker 16: go our way. Credit to the guys kept playing and
- 1:12:00Speaker 16: found a way to win the game.
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: So, uh, when you.
- 1:12:03Speaker 17: Preferring like a week for the appointment starting quarterback and
- 1:12:07Speaker 17: then during the game like the backup has to take
- 1:12:09Speaker 17: them over, right, how did you quickly how do you
- 1:12:12Speaker 17: quickly like recolguate your defense.
- 1:12:14Speaker 16: Well, most of the time it's the same scheme and
- 1:12:17Speaker 16: they're replacing you know, Lamar Jackson with Huntley. You know,
- 1:12:23Speaker 16: so really some of those things did it really changed,
- 1:12:26Speaker 16: didn't didn't have to change. They were kind of staying
- 1:12:29Speaker 16: and doing things that they had normally done. So if
- 1:12:33Speaker 16: it was a drastic change, there would be things that
- 1:12:35Speaker 16: we would have to do on the fly. But you know,
- 1:12:37Speaker 16: most of our attention on the fly was about getting
- 1:12:39Speaker 16: other guys in other positions and getting Anthony Jennings there,
- 1:12:43Speaker 16: getting you know, you know, Kyle Williams and Mac to
- 1:12:45Speaker 16: play three different positions.
- 1:12:47Speaker 7: I appreciate them.
- 1:12:48Speaker 16: I'm going to tell them that here in a few
- 1:12:50Speaker 16: minutes of the team meeting, and that's that's not easy
- 1:12:53Speaker 16: to do. I mean, when you have three receiver that
- 1:12:55Speaker 16: plays three different positions and you hear the formations and
- 1:12:58Speaker 16: you hear the personnel groups, uh that that's a tall order.
- 1:13:01Speaker 16: And so credit to Kyle for being a young player.
- 1:13:04Speaker 16: Credit Mac uh for doing that throughout the game. You know,
- 1:13:09Speaker 16: when guys went down, no different than they are going
- 1:13:13Speaker 16: in there, no different than Anthony, and I appreciate that.
- 1:13:16Speaker 16: And Ben Brown goes in at the jumbo tight end
- 1:13:18Speaker 16: when Thayer goes to tackle, and things happened so quickly
- 1:13:22Speaker 16: that Kyle didn't even realize that Thayer was no longer
- 1:13:26Speaker 16: the tight end. He thought he had become the tackle.
- 1:13:29Speaker 16: So Kyle backs up off the ball and he's like,
- 1:13:32Speaker 16: when did this happen. We're like the last play and
- 1:13:34Speaker 16: it's like, this is not your fault, Kyle, this is
- 1:13:36Speaker 16: my faull for somehow understanding that Ben Now went in
- 1:13:39Speaker 16: and reported and Thayer was not reporting that he was
- 1:13:42Speaker 16: the tackle.
- 1:13:43Speaker 7: So that's how quickly the things happen.
- 1:13:46Speaker 16: And uh, you know, give give all the credit to
- 1:13:49Speaker 16: the players and the assistant coaches for for having them
- 1:13:51Speaker 16: ready and being able to help us win.
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: Thanks guys, thankfully, and now great moments in history.
- 1:14:01Speaker 19: Andrew used to go to the same gym as Andy
- 1:14:04Speaker 19: Hart right on run over here, so we'd see him
- 1:14:07Speaker 19: every morning before work. So he said, one day at
- 1:14:10Speaker 19: the gym, there's this guy and there was a boxing
- 1:14:13Speaker 19: one of those big boxing bags and the guy was
- 1:14:15Speaker 19: like hitting it really hard and grutting and whatever and
- 1:14:18Speaker 19: like making a big scene. And he was like six
- 1:14:20Speaker 19: point thirty in the morning, like what is this guy doing?
- 1:14:23Speaker 19: So he was about to go to Andy and be
- 1:14:24Speaker 19: like check out this guy. And then all of a sudden, Andy,
- 1:14:28Speaker 19: as soon as the guy was done, Andy went over
- 1:14:31Speaker 19: and he started doing the same bag to the bag
- 1:14:34Speaker 19: and Andrew. Andrew was like, he was like, I was
- 1:14:38Speaker 19: literally like seconds away from being a Hey, check.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Out this guy.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: So that's part of Andy's routine that he never really
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: told us about the heavy bag. We didn't know that
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: that was something he uses, the heavy bag.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: And Andrew was about to make fun of the other guy.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: So he must have to stand really close with those
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: short eyes. Yeah, that's another great moment from all right
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: back here and Patriots unfiltered. Paula's left us. He's cheating
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: on us. He's going over to one of his shows
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: to uh to you know, do three hours over there.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: It's on the flag of his shows.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: This is the he's doing the whole thing.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: I think, Wow, final bosses of his shows.
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: That is something. Well he's gone, but we're still here.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: Uh and spiing Fresno's here eight five to five past
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: five hundred, he said. Paul got real riled up late
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: in the postgame show. I share Paul's disagreement with those
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: who think it's all gravy from here no matter how
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: the season plays out. That's total meou thinking and takes
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: the opportunity at hand. For granted, if your team makes
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: the playoffs, you should expect them to play like a
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: playoff team. But we shouldn't reset expectations and move goldposts
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: to a degree that overshadows reality. There is no way
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: any reasonable person will be looking back on this Patriots
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: season is unsuccessful. It may have a disappointing ending, but
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: enough foundational expectations have already been met or exceeded for
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: the season to register as a success. The gravy train
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: riders are taking this playoff opportunity for granted, but the
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: goldpost movers are taking for granted what's already happened to
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: make the opportunity possible.
- 1:16:13Speaker 3: It was waxing poetic there.
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very good speed.
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: I think the only thing that could change my mind
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: as if Buffalo twenty twenty one happens again and they
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: get destroyed in the first you know, their first playoff game.
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: But besides that, you know that that did the way
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: that season ended. You know they're going down the stretch,
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: you know, one and three I think it was, which
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: is and then getting beat by like forty by Buffalo.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: That did change your perception of that team. And that
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: should have been the same argument, right like you drafted
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: a quarterback in the first round, you made the playoffs,
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: you won ten games. It's the same sort of thing.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: But you knew that that team was potentially that might
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: have been the team was really the you know, the
- 1:16:56Speaker 3: team that played in Buffalo that night and not what
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: we saw cleaning up against a Titans team that had
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: thirty guys out with COVID and you know, stuff like that.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Kind of why this Ravens game meant so much to
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: me because if that was, you know, losing to Buffalo
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: and then it seemed like, all right, well, if you'd
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: beat Miami and the Jets always really gonna care, but
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: like to win in that fashion. And now I think
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Evan's totally right, you don't want to go out like that.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: They have big difference too, is though Drake Mays and
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: the MVP conversation too. So I think even at the
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: height of the twenty one season, which was you know, comparison,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I was going to make to the locker rooms because
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: this is a great locker room. But even the twenty
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: nineteen team with Brady here, like everybody seemed miserable and
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: stressed and it was like tension. This seems loose. But
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: when the twenty one team was on their win streak,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: I think it was it was pretty good too. It's
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: just it's hard to take out. Why is everybody happy
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: because they're winning or because they all really like each
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: other and it's hard to really you know.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: No, Yep, Travis and West Virginia, says Fred. I think
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: you should cancel tomorrow's show and give everyone the afternoon off.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Everyone could submit their picks electronically. Well, we do, Christmas Eve,
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: we do?
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: We got What about New Year's Day asking for a friend?
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Oh, we'll see, we'll see. Also, let Evan know that
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Baltimore is not diggs hometown. The part of Maryland he's
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: from is associated more with Washington, d c In not
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: so much Baltimore.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Okay, well, he told us after the game that he
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: this is a homecoming for him.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go by what he said.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the man himself. Okay, Yeah, he's from like
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: some small town outside of in Maryland somewhere. He went
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: to the University of Maryland.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: So uh, let's go back to the phones. Manny's in
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: New Bedford. Hey, Manny, what's going on?
- 1:18:30Speaker 8: Guys?
- 1:18:30Speaker 20: Two things one not I still I still don't understand
- 1:18:33Speaker 20: how Marcus Jones didn't make the Pro Bowl. But again
- 1:18:37Speaker 20: that that's that's another story.
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: But I wanted to.
- 1:18:40Speaker 20: This question is mainly for Evan because I know he
- 1:18:43Speaker 20: really just breaks down the game that like and we
- 1:18:46Speaker 20: elite level.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 1:18:48Speaker 20: I'm starting to really get concern about this Gonzo situation.
- 1:18:53Speaker 20: I feel like you're playing him a lot in the
- 1:18:55Speaker 20: zone coverage and he's playing like off off man. I'm
- 1:18:59Speaker 20: just curious, like, why is that. You know, he's been
- 1:19:02Speaker 20: struggling there every play he looks like he's getting burnt.
- 1:19:06Speaker 20: They Fly was completely cooked him like majority of the game,
- 1:19:09Speaker 20: and this is like I would say, he's like a
- 1:19:11Speaker 20: second third game. Do you feel like he's getting frustrated
- 1:19:14Speaker 20: the way they're playing him? Do you think that that's
- 1:19:17Speaker 20: gonna be a conversation when they go extend him, maybe
- 1:19:19Speaker 20: he goes elsewhere to a better system where they play
- 1:19:23Speaker 20: him in man, more curious to what you think about
- 1:19:26Speaker 20: that event. I'll take the stop of their Thanks guys.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, it's it's something that I've written about a
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: couple of times now to a couple of weeks in
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: a row. It's just you know what it looks like.
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: And I know he's just named to the Pro Bowl
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: today and we're talking about how he's not, you know,
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: playing as well, but you know what it looks like
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: when he's playing well, because last year he was just
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: excellent for the entire years, you know, all pro player.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I don't know if it's scheme related. I don't know
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: if it's the hamstring. You know, I've made this comparison before,
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: but you know, as a hockey guy, like reminds me
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: so much of Jeremy's wa last year, who sat out
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: all of training camp and then came back for the
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: season and he just couldn't get the train rolling. You know,
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: he just was not had a horrible year, and you know,
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: I think that that's could be possible as well. Like
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: he did no training camp, went right into it, you know,
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: sat at the beginning of the season and it just
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: was one of those years where it just wasn't you know,
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: able to get up to standard completely in this game.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: And look, I I'm not one of those people that
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: thinks the corners need to be linebackers, but in this
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: game that the Ravens ran at him all night and
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: they made him tackle, they made him take on blocks,
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: and he didn't do it very well. Just being honest, Like,
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: you know, the Derrick Henry explosive runs were mostly off
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: tackle to Gonzo's side, you know, the first touchdown, he's
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: the last line of defense. He's the only guy that
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: can make a play get steamrolled by the guard and
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: doesn't make a play. You know, again, I'm not expecting
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: him to be you know, Dante high tower in the
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: hole and take on a guard. But at that point,
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: you you got to hold him up. You got to
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: do something to try to get you know, hats to
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: the football.
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: Uh.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: It might just be a scheme thing, like maybe they're
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: just the way that they use corners in this system,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: is is not a great fit for him. I don't know,
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: but it's hard for me to imagine that a player
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: of his caliber that you can't find a way to
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: make him play well. Like that That tells usually that's
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: like players over scheme and like you've you have a
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: guy that's that good, like figure it out right, you know,
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: maybe you need to.
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: Beat down by eleven in the fourth and then he
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: switches it on. But he certainly he turned it on
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: last game. Let's see if we can continue that.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: I just think, like I get what he's saying, and
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: you know, the eighteen yard or like it was a
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: broken play and it was a scrambled drill.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Yeah, like that one.
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: I don't really h you know, hold against him too
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: much because you're covering for five six seconds, Like you're
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: not going to be able to do that. But the
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: third down one in the slot, like he just sits
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: inside of him and Flowers just cuts out and it's
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: the first down. And you know those are players that
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: you're used to, Gonzo being a lot more competitive in.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: George writes in, I don't know if you guys pay
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: attention to bleacher Report, grid Iron. I'm sure Evan does
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: they have a reel of a Patriots fan waving goodbye
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: from the game. Well, I'm that Patriots fan. So now
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: you can put a face to the name of this
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: diehard Pats fan. When I email in, I love the show,
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: been around since your paper copy, you.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Sent a picture of his face.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: No, you have to go to bleacher Report, grid I
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: guess to see the Patriots fan waving goodbye. Let's see
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: more more sympathy for Marcus Jones getting snubbed.
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: We explained that, Yeah, we kind of explained it.
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, Anthony cannot believe this was our first comeback
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: of double digits since the Falcon Super Bowls.
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: That it is. Wow.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: That means at any point in the last nine years,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: if we went down by double digits we didn't win.
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: It seems incomprehensible.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: It seems pretty comprehensible to me. You haven't watched those offenses,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: you know, Like, but that's the feeling you had, and
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: I mean it was ingrained into by the time you
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: got to this season, Like, you know, it's probably why
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: when they went down by eleven in the second half
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: in this game that I was kind of like, well,
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: that's it. You know, you just you forget about the
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: fact that Drake may can make seven throws and you're
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: in the end zone and just like that, you know,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: in four minutes drive. So that's been the X factor.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: But yeah, man, they were they've been bad. I mean,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: it's you felt like, unless they got real help from
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: the other team the last few years, it was it
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: wasn't gonna go their way.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Anthony wants to know can we clunch the division this
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: week with a win or does Buffalo have to lose. No,
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: Buffalo has to lose and they play at four to
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: twenty five against the Eagles, so we won't know if
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: we have the division until after that game.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: If we win, Yeah, sets up for pretty fun trip home,
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: though potentially it was some scoreboard watching going on. It's
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: a short flight, so, you know, and I do wonder,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: you know, if there'll be any celebratory things going on
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: if we find out that somebody shouts say they lost.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Jordan writes in let's all remember that the number one
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: seed is still in play. According to the Athletic Playoff predicted,
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: the Patriots have a thirty eight percent chance and the
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: Broncos are at forty six percent. So I think it's
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: full steam ahead. That one seed is critical in my mind,
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: and the Broncos could easily lose Week eighteen to the Chargers,
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: who would have been playing well in our division opponent.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: I'm curious if you guys see it differently, given how
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: good the Patriots have been on the road this year,
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: and if being road warriors is actually more of an advantage.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: No, I want that buy more than anything. I mean,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: the division title has to come with it, but I
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: think just for help, Yeah, well that's the thing, and
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: that's why I mean, I think there's an argument to
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: be made that we talked earlier about sitting guys that
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: last week that you know, you might enter that game
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: not knowing, and if you went in and sat a
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: bunch of guys and then Denver lost and you somehow
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: lost with some backups Josh Jobs maybe throwing, you'd be
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: sick to your stomach because you could have gotten yourself
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: a week off. So it's it's such a tough thing
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: to balance because on one hand, you're like, well, they
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: might have to push my guys a little bit this
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: week to get them an extra week's rest. Or do
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: you just say I'm going to give you an extra
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: week's rest, but you're probably gonna have to jump right
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: in next week?
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: Oh interesting, as long as you put Drake May under
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: center against Miami and the Jets, you're gonna win a
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: So like if you like, like if Robert Splaine has
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: to sit out again, or if you know, I don't
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: know whatever, you know, Will Campbell's not quite ready and
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: you know whatever, these Treyvon Henderson's still in the protocol,
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: Like you can sit all those guys like these. That's
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: the one real benefit I think the Patriots have with
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: this end of the schedule here being against two teams
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: that the Jets, especially the Dolphins, I think might just
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: be organizationally in a turmoil. But the Jets I think
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: or might be tanking, you know, like I think that
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: you're actively trying to lose, So I just I wouldn't
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: worry too much about it.
- 1:26:08Speaker 19: You know.
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: I think the Patriots will take care of their own business,
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: but they're gonna need some help.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: Again.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: I forgot about Drake's I think.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Yeah, oh yeah, Like this is like, I know, everybody's
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: gonna have flashbacks to like twenty fifteen and Stephen Jackson
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: and that that Miami game and all that.
- 1:26:22Speaker 15: But this is not.
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: This is not that Curtis and Saint Louis. First off
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: to the mouth breather in La do us all a favor?
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: Shut up? No one cares about your self proclaimed wealth.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Your takes are trash, and I'd be willing to bet
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: my last dollar my unborn nephew has more football knowledge
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: than you. How about you go smell your farts in
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: your backyard. I hear the Chargers can use some more fans. Wow,
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: that's that's pretty harsh. Listener on Listener Crime, two quick
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: questions out of the free agent sign this year, whose
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: contributions have been most impressive in your opinion? I have
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: to go with Mac Hollins. Well, I don't know, but
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: what was the question, sorry, most impressive free agent in
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: your contributions, most impressive.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: I mean Milton Williams are but he's been heard, I suppose.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: I mean, Hollins does a lot of the little things.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: Josh McDaniels called him a chess piece. Yeah, so you know,
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: I can understand, like what Curtis is saying. This might
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: be a lot of things unnoticed that he's doing to
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: contribute that you know, don't really register walking.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: But I also just think that, you know, he's got
- 1:27:24Speaker 3: a really good uh playstrength, catch radius, and like it's
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: not I'm sure it's really comforting for a quarterback like
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: like Drake May. You don't necessarily need to be pinpoint
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: accurate when you throw the ball to Matt Collins because
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: he's six foot five and he's got a huge catch radius.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: So every time I look at Drake May throw to
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: Mac Collins, there's just like an ease and confidence to
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: it because he knows that he's going to go up
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: and get it over the middle, or he's gonna, you know,
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: catch a pass on the sideline or whatever the case
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: may be. And there's I mean they're just like they
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: just take those outs, like those quick game outs, like
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: he's just like five yards seven yards at time.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: What about Chase On He's been good too.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been good.
- 1:28:04Speaker 7: He's been good.
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: He makes some big plays he does. You know, he
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: doesn't make a lot of them, but he you know,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: he he shows up.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: I mean they they hit on pretty much everybody that
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: they signed. I mean, it's it's pretty impressive. And you know,
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: now I think mentioned Ben Brown too. You know, they're
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: they're staying ahead of the curve. Marcus Jones in season extension,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Ben Brown rat very important depth there. So yeah, Bradberry
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: was I mean, just one another one.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: I mean, they don't really think of centers, but we
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: haven't had to worry about the position.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and he was somebody that a lot of people
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: were really low on because of all the PFF grades
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: and all that stuff from last year. And he's been
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: really really good. And I think maybe you know something
- 1:28:39Speaker 3: I was thinking about too. I mean, they played this
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: game with a lot of backups. You know, nine guys
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: got hurt in the game. Campbell's and Milton Williams are
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: still out, Splain is still out. We might have underestimated
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: the depth on this roster. Like, I don't know if
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: the depth on this team is quite as bad as
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: we all thought it was in August, because if Darien Lowe,
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: it wasn't a great game for him, but they still
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: won with him playing at left tackle. You know, guys
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: are going in and out of the game. You know,
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: they're getting contributions from they Er Munford and you know,
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Corey Durden and Jack Gibbons and you know, all these
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: guys that everyone said in August were going to be
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: liabilities if they had to play, and they're still winning
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: football games without these you know, these players out.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: In Rabel's post game speech in the locker room, it's
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: kind of a stream of consciousness thing. But one of
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: the things that he slipped in there is, you know,
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: guys are stepping in and finding out what they can do.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: And I think those are the that's who he's talking about. Yeah,
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: those guys, those depth pieces that we didn't think were
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: that great. They are coming in and they're finding out, oh,
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: I can do this, I can do that, like you know,
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: I can play in this league. And of course the
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: coaches are finding that out too.
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: On top of these guys and the coaches deserve a
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: ton of credit for it as well, you know, not
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: only development behind the scenes, but let's give you know,
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: some love to the assistant coaches that are keeping Vederian
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: load you know, fresh, and working him and keeping him involved.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: And then he has to step in for Campbell and
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: it's not been you know, always great, but it hasn't
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: been a disaster by any means either with him out there.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: You know, they've done a great job. All these guys
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: are prepared. They all come in with you know, awareness
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: of the plan and the opponent and what they're going
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: up against. And that's coaching.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Second question, with all the talk of who you would
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: or wouldn't want to play in the playoffs, which NFC
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: team would be fun to see if and when the
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Patriots make the Super Bowl?
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: Fun?
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: What do you mean by fun?
- 1:30:35Speaker 2: I think I said it before the Bears.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Bears Patriots a throwback game, Yep, it'd be fun
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: a couple of forty years from forty years for from
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: nineteen eighty five. Yeah, I mean there's I don't know,
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: there's intriguing matchups across the board. I mean, they played
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: two Super Bowls already against the Rams, they played one
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: against the Seahawks. You know, there's a I mean, it
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: feels like Philly San Francisco playing at home at their
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: own state and the Super Bowl that might like to
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: avoid that one. But there's a lot of intrigue. I
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: just when you stack up the AFC, especially after last weekend,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: it's just why not us? Why not the Patriots?
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: They got it.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: You know, they're gonna have to get hot a little
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: bit and they're gonna have to get some guys back.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: But you know, nobody in the AFC do I look
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: at and be like, well, thank you know, any of
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: those teams can can be beat if they if Drake
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: really plays well enough.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: I just got to get this defense in order. Yeah,
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: if we're gonna start talking about that, I mean, I
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: think the offense is, you know, good, good enough to
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: go on and run. But defensively, you know, last week
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: it was the inside runs. This week it was the
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: outside runs. Like, doesn't seem to really matter. Wherever teams
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: kind of strength is running the football, they can kind
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: of run it there if they want to. You know,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: I thought the past defense had its moments, but it
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: also had some not so good moments. But you know,
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: run game wise, like you know, Derrick Henry just killed
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: them off tackle again. The numbers were not good, and
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: they tried to play more base defense against Baltimore, and
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: they were giving up five and a half yards of
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: carry in base defense, which is the opposite of what
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: you're trying to do when you play that many big
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: people on the field. So, uh, they they got to
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: get healthy on defense. They got to get back to
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: controlling the line of scrimmage. You know, they're not gonna
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: They're not gonna go to the super Bowl if they
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: don't control the line of scrimmage.
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up? Eldred?
- 1:32:20Speaker 7: Hey?
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: Aldred?
- 1:32:22Speaker 21: Hey, Hey, Hey, tells how you're doing.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: Marry Christmas.
- 1:32:25Speaker 21: I'm sorry. I'm at the duck and the guys you
- 1:32:27Speaker 21: on the top.
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: But oh okay, well you need to go or what
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: tell me?
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: Got a podcast?
- 1:32:31Speaker 22: No, no, no, I'm good.
- 1:32:32Speaker 21: I'm good. I'm good, and I agree and disagree. O one.
- 1:32:37Speaker 21: You got to shoot for the number one seed. I
- 1:32:40Speaker 21: don't care. You got that, you know, because you got
- 1:32:43Speaker 21: a chance that where La looked to get Dallas Denver
- 1:32:47Speaker 21: might be seen. Nicks won the fall, you know, and
- 1:32:50Speaker 21: you got Jets and Dolphins go ahead, and Evan, give
- 1:32:55Speaker 21: you your flowers. Bro finally saw it ain't in him
- 1:32:58Speaker 21: all the way down, but I'm still there, but I
- 1:33:00Speaker 21: still live.
- 1:33:00Speaker 22: We got the quarterback, you know.
- 1:33:02Speaker 21: What I mean, because he did show their toughness and
- 1:33:04Speaker 21: they clutch and the last drive the only part of
- 1:33:06Speaker 21: the game I had to see because I had to
- 1:33:08Speaker 21: work that day and I would jump it. But other
- 1:33:12Speaker 21: than that, you know, I'm happy, but we have to
- 1:33:15Speaker 21: fight for that dumb one sees you did in the
- 1:33:17Speaker 21: morning and she looking for me.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Okay, I gotta go. All right. Yeah, I can just
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: see Eldred making this call with a doctor in front
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: of him, saying, cough, hold.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: On, I gotta talk to these guys. This is important.
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: Yeah, pants down as uh Patty's and agawam, what's up?
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: Patty up?
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: Guys?
- 1:33:38Speaker 22: Uh, Freddie, Mickey, Merry Christmas.
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: Evan.
- 1:33:40Speaker 22: I hope your honika was great, buddy, Thank you. I
- 1:33:43Speaker 22: just had a wanted to say one thing and then
- 1:33:45Speaker 22: end with a question. If if the Broncos, which they
- 1:33:49Speaker 22: probably will win this week, if they win and we win,
- 1:33:52Speaker 22: I would like to see them try and schedule both,
- 1:33:55Speaker 22: you know, the Chargers Broncos game and the past Dolphins
- 1:33:58Speaker 22: game on Saturday, so we kind of know, you know,
- 1:34:02Speaker 22: I'm guessing if they do. If they do that, the
- 1:34:05Speaker 22: Broncos Chargers game would be the primetime game. But I
- 1:34:09Speaker 22: want to I apologize I wasn't able to hear the
- 1:34:11Speaker 22: beginning of the show. I just wanted to ask you
- 1:34:14Speaker 22: guys about Ramadre Stevenson. I think on Saturday, I'm sorry,
- 1:34:19Speaker 22: Sunday night, he looked as good as he's looked at
- 1:34:23Speaker 22: maybe since like Game one of last year. And you know,
- 1:34:28Speaker 22: I think going forward, I think he's going to be important,
- 1:34:31Speaker 22: obviously just in past protection. But if he's healthy and
- 1:34:34Speaker 22: you know, whenever Traveon Henderson comes back, if he's able
- 1:34:37Speaker 22: to go full strength and he looks like that, I think,
- 1:34:40Speaker 22: I think we're going to be all right. I think
- 1:34:42Speaker 22: we might make a deep playoff run. And I just
- 1:34:44Speaker 22: want to get your guys thoughts on that.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: I'll take it off there, all right, thanks.
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: Yeah, So they are just quickly on the scheduling thing.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: If the number one seed is still up for grabs
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: between the Patriots and the Broncos, they'll play at the
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: same time, so they wouldn't play on Saturday, because the
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: Saturday games are going to be staggered, so they wouldn't
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: like give a team a OWT, like, oh, like you
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: find out that the Patriots lost, yeah, and then like
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: all now, all of a sudden, the Patriots are you know,
- 1:35:09Speaker 3: we're starting Josh Dobbs, you know or whatever. So but yeah, Remondred,
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: I thought that the cut on the little checkdown that
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: he caught and he turned into like a twenty twenty
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: five yard run was really really impressive. Obviously the touchdown
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: run was good too, but that cut I haven't seen
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: Remandred move latterly like that, and you know, allude a
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: tackler like that in space in a minute, So that
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: was good to see.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Just one question I have on the on the schedule
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: stuff is what are the Chargers got to play for
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: in that last week?
- 1:35:38Speaker 5: Is that the division? Right?
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: So the division could will be could be if the Chargers.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: Win in Week seventeen, they're one game behind the Broncos
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: and if they beat the Broncos in that game, they
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: win the division.
- 1:35:50Speaker 7: Ok.
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so that game could be for the division, which
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: could also impact things that could be that then become
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: the Sunday night game. So like there's a lot of
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: moving parts there, but for the most part, they try
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: to align those teams so that you can't sit guys.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: I don't want people to know ahead of time, you know,
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: if they.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: Give another team in advantage, right, knowing we don't have
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: to play, right, Yeah, Sean's and Vancouver.
- 1:36:13Speaker 10: What's up, Sean, Mike, I really want to thank you
- 1:36:16Speaker 10: for doing the nineteen eighty five Patriots podcast as a
- 1:36:19Speaker 10: special team for Actually yeah, well, I actually attended the
- 1:36:24Speaker 10: AFC Championship game in Miami. That was the first NFL
- 1:36:26Speaker 10: game I ever went to.
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:36:29Speaker 10: Yeah, it was amazing. Now, Paul mentioned earlier a lot
- 1:36:32Speaker 10: of the rookies who who stand it stood out this
- 1:36:35Speaker 10: season one player, and I can understand why you wouldn't
- 1:36:39Speaker 10: mention there's so many contributions. Is Julian Ashby. And I
- 1:36:42Speaker 10: don't know enough about long snap or play, but I
- 1:36:45Speaker 10: haven't heard his name mentioned to me, So to me,
- 1:36:47Speaker 10: that meets me the success, so that that could be
- 1:36:50Speaker 10: added to the list.
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36:51Speaker 10: In terms yeah, in terms of the number one feet,
- 1:36:56Speaker 10: I'm pretty sure the Patriots are going to win the
- 1:36:58Speaker 10: next two game. Sorry, Fred, I think those could be
- 1:37:01Speaker 10: your guarantees as well. Again, but I think it's up
- 1:37:05Speaker 10: to the Chargers in the in the last game, so
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: I'll leave it at that. Great season than all.
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: Right, thanks Sean. Yeah, we're coming down to the wire.
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: This is great. We are this is good.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: It's nice to like not be like just waiting for
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: the season and it nice to be still last week
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: this is the last lot. You know, you just start
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: checking boxes and now it's like, yeah, you know, the
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: next two weeks kind of a grind, but like playoffs
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: and like let's just go.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: I mean, I tell you that is you bring that up.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: But like, you know, during the Dynasty, you got so
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: used to being in the conversation throughout the playoffs and
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: like when you're not, like it's an empty feeling. It's
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: an empty feeling like we used to be that.
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Well, I was even thinking about like going to the combine,
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: you know, like going to.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: The watching college Yeah. I was already talking about Drake
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: May and the draft and Campbell.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: And watching Abdul Carter for Penn statement.
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: Yeah oh yeah, the college football playoff was more interesting
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: than the end of the Patriots.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: Yeah, let's go to Danny and Daytona. Hey, Danny, he
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: can you guys hear me.
- 1:38:09Speaker 23: Yeah, I was a good friend Evan and Duce. So
- 1:38:17Speaker 23: to answer your point earlier, Fred, all right, I'll admit this.
- 1:38:21Speaker 23: At least I'm an honest person. I'm gonna come out
- 1:38:23Speaker 23: and say I wasn't one of those people that commented
- 1:38:25Speaker 23: are trolled out there saying that, oh, the Patriots are
- 1:38:28Speaker 23: gonna collapse. The only thing I was worried. And this
- 1:38:30Speaker 23: is a true and this is at least an honest assessment.
- 1:38:34Speaker 23: I the way the Patriots played. I had most of
- 1:38:38Speaker 23: the game. Like I think Duke came out and said
- 1:38:41Speaker 23: it earlier in the show. They came out slow and sluggish.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: It looked terrible, and.
- 1:38:45Speaker 23: I was like, oh my, I started like not panicking,
- 1:38:48Speaker 23: but I'm like, this is terrible, Like this is not
- 1:38:50Speaker 23: how you respond to a Buffalo game where you came
- 1:38:53Speaker 23: pretty close but you fell short. So I felt like
- 1:38:55Speaker 23: we were falling off a cliff at in that game.
- 1:38:58Speaker 23: But then you know, because Drake made some very bad
- 1:39:01Speaker 23: decisions and I was like, wow, this is terrible. I
- 1:39:05Speaker 23: don't think that. Like I said, he did come back
- 1:39:08Speaker 23: clutch in the in the fourth quarter, which is awesome.
- 1:39:12Speaker 23: I was glad to see him overcome that he held
- 1:39:15Speaker 23: himself accountable, like he said in the press conference in
- 1:39:18Speaker 23: the Bills game. After the Bills games, so I give
- 1:39:21Speaker 23: I give dre his flower, Drake May his flowers, But
- 1:39:25Speaker 23: I am not like Paul's people from like Murray from
- 1:39:28Speaker 23: ninety eight point five. He was wanting to crucify Drake
- 1:39:31Speaker 23: May after the game, saying, this guy still don't forget
- 1:39:34Speaker 23: the bad plays that he did. So I'm not gonna
- 1:39:37Speaker 23: be like Murray. But uh, he did play bad, and
- 1:39:40Speaker 23: I hope that to see he keeps improving. And then
- 1:39:43Speaker 23: the other thing I would say is, yeah, I didn't
- 1:39:46Speaker 23: know that was Mike that called that player. I thought
- 1:39:48Speaker 23: it was Jeremy, and I was gonna call for Jeremy's
- 1:39:50Speaker 23: job again. I still think Germany, I still think Jeremy
- 1:39:53Speaker 23: should be fired. He was on the same staff with
- 1:39:57Speaker 23: the Rams, and the Rams just fired their specialty is coordinated.
- 1:39:59Speaker 23: Honestly saw that. So Jeremy was working for the last
- 1:40:03Speaker 23: couple of years.
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: Jeremy was with the Patriots last year.
- 1:40:05Speaker 2: So I don't all right, thanks Danny, yeah, firing people.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: Uh, I did not think that Drake played that bad
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: to start this game.
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna be he made some bad mistakes. I mean,
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: the turnovers were isolated. It wasn't like a string of mistakes.
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, so opening driving went right
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: down the field like he threw im gonna say.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: You know, like in terms of offense, they didn't start sluggishly. Now,
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: defense it was like night through hut button. We've seen
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: that before on first drives and and by the way,
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: did you see the game last night? Both teams first drive.
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: You know, so that that's a lot that happens a
- 1:40:46Speaker 2: lot in the NFL. Now we're the worst at it.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: There's no doubt our first drive defense is not good.
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: But you know you think but at some point, Fred,
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: that you'd kind of be like, now, that's just what
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: we do.
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: And that's like I don't mean yeah, but I don't
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: want to be like that.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: But you have to build up that confidence because I
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: think that we're close to that that that might just
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: be what they are is, you know, a team that
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: makes adjustments and on the fly, but they haven't built
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: up that equity that you like feel like, okay, they'll
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: level up.
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: But here's the thing, like, yes, it was you were
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: in a tough spot on Sunday night, but I don't
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: have the same feeling when this team's in a tough
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: spot then last year or the year before because our
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: offense was dreadful. That's not the case this. You know,
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: my hope in this game was one of two things,
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: and I wrote it, you know, that was my opening
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: statement on the bly said, I feel like to win
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: this game. It's a tough matchup. But to win this game,
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: one of two things happens. Either our offense has to
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: play really well or our defense has to play really well.
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: I think it's unreasonable to think both sides are going
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: to play really well. And my thinking is that, listen,
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: if our defense plays the way it's been playing the
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: last few games, I have fate that our offense is
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: going to keep up. You know. That's the difference. That's
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: the difference, and that's what I was kind of hoping for.
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: Well that Evan Evan said about you know, the equity
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: of it and built up, Like, to me, what equity
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: has been built up is that I think this team's
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: going to be a tough out no matter how bad
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: they play on defense. You know, they just I think
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: they've shown that resilience throughout the year, where yeah, They've
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: had a lot of bad starts, but they always seem
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: to find a way to make a push and you know,
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: kind of pull it together and adjust to the you know,
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: to what the other team is doing. So it's just
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: in that effort and finish thing, Like I just I
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: see that all the time with this team. So you know,
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to play the Patriots no matter who
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: gets healthy who doesn't, just you know, with Drake May
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: and just the way the team plays overall.
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: Yeah, so their first four drives on offense and the
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: in the game on Sunday night, interception in the red zone, touchdown,
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: field goal, fumble in field goal territory.
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: Like they were moving the ball all night.
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: Yeah, And you don't move the ball.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: Like that if the quarterback is playing bad like the
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: second half against Buffalo he played bad.
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: Yeah, right, like we can say that.
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: But this game, I I really outside of the two turnovers,
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: and I know that the turnovers are a big deal,
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: but I'm telling like, this was not Like he was
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: really really good in this game.
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: Yeah, really good, Riley writes. And I called in last
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: week and made a statement regarding May's fourth quarter comeback
- 1:43:14Speaker 2: against the Ravens. I stated that they are one of
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: the top rated defenses in the league as of late,
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: to which Paul retorted that they are not. While I
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: understand your role as the bad guy in your tendency
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: to disagree with the majority of takes, facts are facts
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: and numbers don't lie. From Week five to sixteen of
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: the twenty twenty five season, the Ravens defense has been
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: elite and there has and here are some stats to
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: back up my claim. One allowed the fewest touchdowns in
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: the NFL nine over an eight week span. Two number
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: one in red zone defense, number three in points allowed
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: fifteen point three, number three in QB hits fifty three
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: and tied for number five, and takeaways thirteen three. Went
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: from only two takeaways in the first five games to
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: eight in the subsequent four. In conclusion, while I respect
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: your role, courage a closer look at the facts before
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: dismissing the claim so quickly, I noticed that too, Paul
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: was very dismissive of the Ravens defense even just today.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: But as of late, the Ravens defense played a lot
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: better than it did early in the season.
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: But it's been since like Week six. Like, yeah, so
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: I agree with the Emailer. I didn't want to get
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: into it with Paul, so I just kind of let
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: it go. But you know, they they started out like
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: historically bad, yes by Baltimore standards. Since week six on,
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: they like flipped the switch and they'd the Emailers one
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: hundred percent right. You know, their their stats are their
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: second in scoring. Defense. They were very very have been
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: very very good for like two months now. Defensively. This
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: is the same defense that a week ago shut out
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: Joe Burrow for the first time in his NFL career.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: Joe Burrow had never been shut out as an NFL
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: quarterback until the Ravens defense did it to him a
- 1:44:55Speaker 3: couple of weeks ago. And then Drake May just went
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: out and put fourteen on the board in the fourth
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: quarter again that same defense. So the Emailers one hundred
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: percent spot on. This Ravens defense has been much much better, right.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: Paul likes to diminish the accomplishments of the home team.
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: It was one of the you know sometimes when Paul
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: says something and like you have you have PI battles.
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: Yeah, well that one didn't want.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: To get My thing is when Paul like misinterprets a point,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: you're trying to make and then he starts arguing against
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: the point you weren't trying to make, and now you're like,
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: that's not See.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: The thing I've learned over by years with Paul Parrillo
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: is that he has a lot of arguments going on.
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: It has a lot of takes that he's getting ready
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: to defend down the road with strategic and that's a
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: lot of what's going on with him. I see right
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: through it. I see right through it. Sam from Saint
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: catherine'es call me crazy, but I'd rather rest my starters
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: this week over next week. The Jets stink and we
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: should be able to beat them with our backups. I
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: don't want Drake or any of our important players anywhere
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: near the MetLife turf.
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: I know that is true, but that is probably what
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: I scare most about this game, is that turf. Yeah,
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: I know some time I hear you, well, Paul, I
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: have a question for went, like, when was the first
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: time after hiring Paul that you're like, this guy is special.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: He likes to yell, he's ready to go on, Like,
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I mean, did you know when you hired him that,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: like because because you didn't have a radio show when
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: you hired him right, like you you were hiring him
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: as a writer, and you didn't realize like his true
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: superpower was really right getting in arguments and the debating people.
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: Well, I also had a guy named Brian Moury.
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: Well, they would they would go at it.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: As you know, President was said, the talk doesn't stop
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: when the microphones were off around here, and the talk
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: began a long time before the microphones would turned on,
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: and he and Maury would go at it. They would
- 1:46:51Speaker 2: go at it, and then Maury would pick out bring
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: out the media guide and just start banging away at
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: facts and Paul would just get They would go at it.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: And you just sit back and push the micro in
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: and they look what I oh, yeah, what.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: Are the best days in Paul's life? Was when Brian left?
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: Which time the first time?
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: So now yeah, so I and then then Andy came
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: in and you're like, oh boy, more fuel for the fire.
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and Paul, I mean like he and his brother,
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: oh used to go at it all.
- 1:47:20Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: You know, Paul surprised me though, you know, I thought
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: that all the nerd stuff that I say, I thought
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: he was gonna just scold me if twenty four he's
- 1:47:31Speaker 3: more open minded than you might think, you know, like
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: he's willing to listen to.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: Some clock management guy. I mean he brought up I
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: mean give Paul credit for I pointed out I thought
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: Brendan Schooler had just an outstanding kickoff tackle on that
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: last kickoff where they had been kicking out of bounds,
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: they finally kicked it and I said, you know, well,
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: why do they choose to kick it there? And then
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Paul was like, well, they might be trying to get
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: the run to get to the two minute warning to
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: burn that clock stock, which doesn't even occurred to me.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: But Paul, who is you know, very stressed to point
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: it on clock management and those kind of things. But
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: but that play was great by Schooler. I never watched
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: the Special Teams really when I'm going back to it,
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: but I was like, I got to watch this one play,
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: and that, I think, to me summed up why Brendan
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Schooler is a Special Special Teams player, especially going back
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: last week when they got you know, torched by a
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: couple of times. That I mean, just the ability full
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: speed make a guy miss, get right around, boom tackle
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: the guy like the thirty one don't tell Paul that.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: No, I don't.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: I would just even it could It doesn't even need
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: to be like in a formal setting or on the record.
- 1:48:27Speaker 5: I did a good job.
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: I just want Paul in stretch. I just want to
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: watch them talk about the clock management stuff because I
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: feel like that's like me, like talking to like Rabel
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: or Josh or something like that. Or am I you
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: know you're just like this is my dream come true? Right,
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: I just get the two of them in a room
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: and let the lets them, let them talk ball.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: I was just going to say something I didn't even
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: think of that.
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, my god, this is magic. Yeah, now that
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: would be a good conversation to listen to. I shouldn't.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: I certainly wouldn't want to partake because I get a
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: popsicle headache thinking about it. All that. Kyle from Pembroke
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: to stumped the grump questions for Paul. He's not here,
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: so we'll try to answer him. When was the last
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: time the Jets swept the Patriots swept the Patriots?
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I don't know, I mean, was that like ninety eight?
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: Close? Little little late it happened after that two thousands?
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: I felt like in that little yeah figure When did
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: the Jets first beat a Tom Brady led Patriots team?
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: The first time they beat a team with Tom Brady
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: a quarterback? Six regular season before that?
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: Oh two week sixteen thirty to seventeen about that season, ever,
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: Paul would have got that time, he would have got it.
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: Yeah, oh two y like nine? What went wrong?
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: Hey?
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: Would you hear see what happened with Metcalf? Yeah?
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: Suspending two games?
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:49:58Speaker 8: What was?
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: What was?
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: Why did they get into? But more so, do you
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: know how to see how much money he lost? Forty
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: five million dollars?
- 1:50:05Speaker 3: Oh my god, Yeah, they're they're appealing, so we'll see,
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: What do I mean?
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: I saw him push the guy?
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: Do we know what like started?
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Like?
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: Did he just guy said something and you know, nothing
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: was thrown or anything like that, So we're he said
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: something and he came and you know you saw he
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: pulled him down and the guy was asking for an autograph.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: Alternative video came out.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: Oh so why did he do that then? If he
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: was just asking for I don't think he think.
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: Well, this guy called him by his first name and
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: social media stinket.
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: He didn't like being called by his first name. Okay,
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: that's right. He said that he used his full name,
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: which was like d some something.
- 1:50:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: So maybe but maybe like yeah, maybe he's got a
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: thing about that something. Yeah, and maybe that guy knew
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: he had the thing about that. I don't know whatever
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: he said he got to him.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: It's Declan nobody.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: I thought I thought it was Declan, but it's spelt
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: a little funk, so it's spelled de k a y
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: l i n. So that's why he goes by DK
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: because it's ok.
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: Yeah, great show, says Hector in Pennsylvania. I'm not critical
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: of the team, and we need to enjoy the success
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: as Patriots fans. But I do have a concern over
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: the defense. And this question is for Evan.
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: Oh sorry, guys.
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: Is the defensive scheme hurting Gonzo's player or is he
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: not completely healed? I know he was selected to the
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Pro Bowl, but sometimes once you've been selected, they keep
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: selecting you even though you don't have a good season
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: compared to the season prior. Just concerned about it because
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: if the defensive scheme doesn't suit him, I feel he
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: won't be here long.
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: It's a fair concern. Yeah, I can't put my finger
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: on it either, And it's just an eye test thing,
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: like the numbers if you want to go by, like
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: you know, the charting numbers of like his completion percentage
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: and the touchdowns he's actually allowed, and like it's not
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: that bad, Like it's all pretty much in the ballpark
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: of what it's been in other years. But when you
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: watch it, there's just more reps to me with him
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: that are just non competitive than what you're used to seeing.
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: And a lot of it is that like off zone
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: or offman stuff. And I don't think he's the best
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: zone corner, Like I think he gets a little bit lost.
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: At the top of the route and especially come up
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: and tackle.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know the tackling and you know these
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: offenses nowadays, like so much of the run game now
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: is played out in space, and they're trying to get
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: the defensive backs in the point of attack and try
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: to run at corners and safeties instead of running at
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: defensive linemen and linebackers. And you know that means that
- 1:52:40Speaker 3: your corners have to take on blocks, they have to tackle,
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: they have to be you know, willing and able to
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: do those different types of things. Well, I don't know
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: what it is.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: Well if if the hamstring is still hampering him or
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: if it's something else. If I was his agent, I
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: try to leak that out there. Yeah, yeah, sure, you know,
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: because there's contract coming up, either with this team or
- 1:53:01Speaker 2: some other team, and I'd want the world to know
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: that he's not one hundred percent.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so this will be his fifth year.
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: Pickup.
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: In the spring, I did it like a lot of
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: deep dive on next Gen of like, you know, all
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: the amount of zone and different coverages they're playing according
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: to the next Gen. But now I just I think
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: it's important to highlight like they still play a lot
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: of man. Like they're still above the league average in man,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: but they play like thirty percent as opposed to the
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: old Belichick twenty nineteen, which is like sixty percent man.
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: So it's like a complicated question to me because I
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: think generally speaking, they want to play zone on first
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: and second down, keep eyes on the quarterback, come up
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: and tackle, and on third down they want to man
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: you up and make you make you beat them. So
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: there still is a value to having a man corner,
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: but it's just how valuable is it where it's you're
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: not playing man sixty percent of the snaps now where
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: it's that's pretty much what Stefan Gilmore twenty nineteen defensive
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: MVP is doing.
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: So it's it's a tough question to answer.
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: And it's also I look at I've always kind of
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: defaulted to the front seven makes your defense. If you've
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: got a great front seven, you'll kind of make do
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: with what the second area is. And the covers are
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: kind of bare at the edge spots right now, especially
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: long term, you know, you don't you know, you're at
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: least you don't have to figure out what to do
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: with Chase on So is there an argument to be
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: made that a man heavy team like Detroit that does
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: play that much man might say he's worth a first
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: round pick to us, you know, and you can say.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: One for two and I think Gonzo is a better
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: player than Sauce.
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: There you go, Son, I don't rule those kind of
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: conversations out that you want to readjust your resources with
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: a defense that let's face it, they need help. They're
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: going to need a lot of help this safseason. There's
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: going to be I mean, Evan and I have already
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: been talking about the edge class and that being a
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: potential area to you know, bring somebody in. So it's
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: a great conversation to have in discussion. But you know,
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you've got a world
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: class athlete at cornerback, and that to me is like
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: kind of my default of like, these guys do not
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: grow on trees. He's a special mover and a lot
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: of these games too, haven't really been matchups that.
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: Show you what his value is.
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: Now you got them like, well, we got to stick
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: them on on flowers because you know, because Marcus Jones
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: is banged up, and you know, so I continue to
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: think that if we get into maybe one of these
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: matchups like against Houston where they do have some outside
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: receivers that like you want a man up that that
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: maybe you'll start to say, oh, yeah, that's why we
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: have Gonzo, because you know, I don't want to pull
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: it up right now. But there are games where they
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: play a bunch of man too. So to me, when
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: I look at like their schematics and all that, I
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: don't know how you feel what. I just feel like
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: they're all over the map, like they have no tendencies.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: It's like you just, yeah, they're generally a little bit
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: more man, but otherwise you don't really know what you're
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: gonna get.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: They're definitely, you know, one of those defenses I think
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: on it first and second down. I know the all
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: the off coverage drives people nuts, but in today's day
- 1:55:45Speaker 3: and age, you got to give up something. You can't
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: just expect to take away every blade of grass against
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: these offenses. And I think a lot of what you
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: see with them on early downs is like, let's limit
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: the big plays, Let's keep things in front of us,
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: you know, let's make them march, you know, let's make
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: them go down the field on us.
- 1:56:03Speaker 8: And that.
- 1:56:06Speaker 3: That's a fine strategy. It's just not I know that
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: people drive every week. I have people out there in
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: my reply is saying like why are they playing so
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: much zone? Why are they playing off the line of scrimmage? Well,
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: because it's first and ten from like the thirty five,
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: and they're not gonna just cover zero at you know,
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: every single play, so like they're trying to, you know,
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: manage the situation and manage the game. He's a great,
- 1:56:29Speaker 3: great player, and I think that's where my frustrations come
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: from with it, because I know how good he is
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: and I know that he can be the best corner
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: in the league. And for whatever reason, this just hasn't
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: been at the year where he showcased that. And and
- 1:56:43Speaker 3: I don't know what the answers to that, And I
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: think a piece of me too, like I would hate
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: to see him get traded like they they drafted a
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: star cornerback in the first round. Is one of the
- 1:56:53Speaker 3: only draft picks in that time frame that they actually
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: hit on. He's a great player, you know, he's young,
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: he's talented, everything. And because it's not like a perfect fit,
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: like they're gonna end up trading like I would hate that.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be terrible.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: So I just I hope that they can find a
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: way to figure it out.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: Right then you saw it, sorry, Fred, but just then
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: you swap it out for like a tough guy who
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: can come up and tackle and play zone on early downs.
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: But then you get the third down against the good
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: teams in the playoffs, where another thing I truly believe
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: is that you need athletes to match athletes. You're gonna
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: go against Jamar Chase. You don't want to go in
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: with a guy, Oh yeah, well he's a great zone tackler.
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: You know, he's police grade and zone he comes up
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: and tackles. You're gonna need those guys against the best team.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: So let's just wait and see two how they match
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: up against those good teams.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: Jake is in Alabama. I recently got stationed at Fort Rucker,
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Alabama to train to be a Blackhawk pilot, and I'm
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: living in a little town called Enterprise. Thank you for
- 1:57:47Speaker 2: your service. Good luck with that. I just saw that
- 1:57:49Speaker 2: Marcus Jones donated some money to the high school football
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: program here as it's where he's from, so I'll let
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: him know. Paul says, hi when I see him. I
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: have some friends who are Bears commanders and Broncos fans,
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: and we were talking about which team is in a
- 1:58:02Speaker 2: better place right now. Bears and Pats have the QB advantage.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: Broncos have the better roster. Commanders are going to have
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: a good, good picks and their QB coming back. Interested
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: to hear where you would rank these teams for twenty
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: twenty six and beyond it. So it goes like this,
- 1:58:16Speaker 2: it's Patriots, Bears, Broncos commanders. That's the order.
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: Patriots, Bears, Broncos commanders.
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: Patriots number one, the best quarterback.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: I'm just going to take the Patriots out of it
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: for the purpose of these conversations. But I mean, I
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: just I think that Chicago is a ton of talent.
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: I just continue to wonder, like if it starts to
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: go a little sid those guys are just weird. The
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: head coach is a little weird to me. The quarterback's
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: a little weird to me.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: Talk about that he's a little weird.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: Which is fine. I mean, he's doing a great job
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: getting his team to play, but like, you just wonder
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: when things start to go a little sideways, that we're
- 1:58:45Speaker 1: going to keep the train on the rails. But they're
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: really talented and Baltimore, it's just I mean, I'm sorry Denver,
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: big fanish on, you know Peyton, and I know bo
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: Nix is what he is. But I still think they
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: got a great defense. They're always going to be playing
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: in Denver.
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: Well every week.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: They're a tough team. Washington, I'm kind of like, I
- 1:59:01Speaker 1: don't know, because now you're getting away from that free
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: agency class of two years ago, what kind of work
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: are they going to do this year? Is McLaurin still
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: going to be McLaurin, You know, Debo? I mean, like
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: there they got a reload I think so I put
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: them at the bottom.
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: Logan from Myrtle Beach writes in complaining about the non
- 1:59:20Speaker 2: pass interference call, but his email just kind of reminded
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: me of something. Would Booty have hit his head that
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: hard on the ground had he not been pulled down?
- 1:59:30Speaker 2: Because you're right, so now you know, you come down
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: with a certain amount of knowledge about how I'm going
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: to fall, but all of a sudden you have this
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: extra put and now there's something you didn't plan for.
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: So that's another reason to be upset about that call,
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: is because he might have been sidelined because of itely.
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: Not that the call would have helped his head, but
- 1:59:54Speaker 2: the fact is it was passing afference and him hitting
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: the head almost.
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: Proved that it was.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: One last point I'll make on that though, and I
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: think you guys probably talked about it. We just we
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: gave the team credit for not letting that get caught
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: up in that call and continuing to stay the course.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: Unlike going down and getting the touchdown. A lot of
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: us probably would have been throwing a hissy fit.
- 2:00:13Speaker 3: But a lot of people in the press bote.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: Oh, I yeah, you know, we're not supposed to say anything,
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: and I I did. I think I said that's ridiculous.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: I said that out loud.
- 2:00:23Speaker 5: Now.
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: The only thing I think I said the entire game
- 2:00:26Speaker 3: and we have to go is that when Chase on
- 2:00:28Speaker 3: stripped him, I can't help the ball like I just
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: like again, I can't help it like it's not It's
- 2:00:35Speaker 3: ingrained in no matter, no matter what team it is,
- 2:00:38Speaker 3: not just the Patriots, like it just is automatic.
- 2:00:41Speaker 5: When you see the ball, get on it.
- 2:00:44Speaker 2: Well, whenever there's a fumble, Evan stands up in points.
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: You know our ball ball. All right, that's going to
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. I thought,
- 2:00:55Speaker 2: I hope Eldred is doing okay in this doctor's appointment. Yeah,
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: I could look. I hope we didn't interrupt anything. And
- 2:01:02Speaker 2: if you want to go listen to Paul, he's on
- 2:01:06Speaker 2: one of his shows. I think everyone should call in
- 2:01:09Speaker 2: that listens to this show and complain that he left
- 2:01:11Speaker 2: the show early. I think everyone should do that. That
- 2:01:13Speaker 2: would be fun. All Right, we'll see you tomorrow and
- 2:01:17Speaker 2: catch twenty two tomorrow at ten o'clock on special Christmas
- 2:01:20Speaker 2: Eve edition. Okay, yeah, all right, hey.
