- 2:11Speaker 1: Miss big win over LSU over the weekend. Now they
- 2:14Speaker 1: got to regroup. This is the week I've been wanting
- 2:15Speaker 1: to see for Ole Miss because I want to see
- 2:17Speaker 1: how they're going to respond. to the big moment, right?
- 2:19Speaker 1: And we saw them in the playoff last year under
- 2:21Speaker 1: Pete Golden, big moment. I want to see how they
- 2:23Speaker 1: respond to the big moment. Go to Florida this weekend.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Hit that promo code up there, patio, my bookie, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: use the promo code patio. All right, let's start out
- 2:32Speaker 1: this week, and let's look at a couple things before
- 2:34Speaker 1: we get Robbie Falk and them in here. We've got
- 2:36Speaker 1: about eight minutes. We'll do that. Let me share this
- 2:38Speaker 1: for you. I am going to share this. And why
- 2:43Speaker 1: is this wanting to– no, I don't want to share
- 2:45Speaker 1: it with audio. There we go. All right, so let's
- 2:46Speaker 1: look at this real quick. This is Wim's SEC football rankings.
- 2:50Speaker 1: The eyeball test. Straight eyes, no analytics. And I put
- 2:52Speaker 1: that in there because you know I love analytics. And,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, analytics is a big part of my life,
- 2:58Speaker 1: a big part of what I do. And everything from
- 3:00Speaker 1: the marketing side to the football side and everywhere in between,
- 3:04Speaker 1: even analytics when I get up and drive. No pun intended. But, hey,
- 3:07Speaker 1: how about the eyeball test? Texas looks good. Texas looks good.
- 3:11Speaker 1: They got the win over Ohio State a couple weeks ago.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It will be two weeks ago this Saturday. They look good,
- 3:16Speaker 1: number one team in the country. our number one team
- 3:18Speaker 1: in the country and number one team in my SEC
- 3:20Speaker 1: eyeball test rankings. Georgia number two. They destroyed Arkansas. They've
- 3:24Speaker 1: done everything right. Ole Miss with a big win. Now
- 3:26Speaker 1: two big wins, Louisville and LSU. They sit at number three.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Mississippi State with two big road wins. Make no mistake
- 3:32Speaker 1: about it. Going to Minnesota and winning is big. Going
- 3:36Speaker 1: to South Carolina is big. Now they come home against Missouri. Florida,
- 3:40Speaker 1: big road win against Auburn over the weekend. They're at
- 3:42Speaker 1: number five. I know some Alabama fans are not happy
- 3:44Speaker 1: with that at number six. You got a home win
- 3:47Speaker 1: against– Florida State, let's see what you do against South
- 3:50Speaker 1: Carolina coming up this weekend. LSU drops to number seven.
- 3:53Speaker 1: They'll host Texas A & M coming up this weekend.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Kentucky at number eight. They go down to Texas A
- 3:58Speaker 1: & M and not only cover, they win. And then
- 4:01Speaker 1: Tennessee hosts Texas coming up this weekend at number nine. Missouri,
- 4:04Speaker 1: number 10, travels to Mississippi State. Auburn with a win.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Opening weekend against Baylor. We'll see what they do moving forward.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Vanderbilt at number 12. They get the gift-wrapped win against
- 4:17Speaker 1: North Carolina State this past weekend. Texas A & M
- 4:20Speaker 1: looks lethargic. South Carolina's got problems. Oklahoma doesn't have a quarterback.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He looks good on paper, looks good coming off the bus,
- 4:27Speaker 1: looks good at the Manning Passing Academy. John Mateers whining
- 4:29Speaker 1: about the crowd. Their number 15 at Arkansas is absolutely
- 4:33Speaker 1: pathetic at number 16. That is our WIMS eyeball test
- 4:38Speaker 1: after the weekend. Also, Wim's winners went 8-3 over the weekend,
- 4:43Speaker 1: 8-1 in the college. Or excuse me, 7-1 in college,
- 4:46Speaker 1: 1-2 in the NFL. So we're rolling this week with
- 4:49Speaker 1: Wim's winners. We're back on the positive side. Before we
- 4:52Speaker 1: get Robbie Falk in here in about five minutes, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: want to do a Camario Taylor film breakdown real quick
- 4:57Speaker 1: because I think what is going on with Camario Taylor
- 4:59Speaker 1: is just so special and so good. So let's pull
- 5:02Speaker 1: this up real quick, see if you can see this.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Let me go full screen. here so we can kind
- 5:07Speaker 1: of look at just some of the things that I
- 5:09Speaker 1: like about Kamario Taylor as a quarterback. So this is
- 5:14Speaker 1: just obviously some highlights of this past week and maybe
- 5:17Speaker 1: even a weekend before. But first off, the size of
- 5:20Speaker 1: Kamario Taylor, the energy of Kamario Taylor doesn't seem to
- 5:24Speaker 1: be a guy that gets two down. So this play
- 5:25Speaker 1: right here against South Carolina over the weekend, Kamario Taylor,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he's going to look right and look left. One of
- 5:30Speaker 1: those you notice is he is not phased in the pocket.
- 5:32Speaker 1: There's some good blocking here of created a pretty nice
- 5:35Speaker 1: pocket by the Mississippi State offensive front. You watch him
- 5:38Speaker 1: step up. He's going to avoid the rush here, just
- 5:40Speaker 1: a little step inside, rotates, and now he knows it's
- 5:42Speaker 1: time to take off. And when this man takes off,
- 5:44Speaker 1: he can flat go. Down the field, gets the first down, and,
- 5:47Speaker 1: of course, he's going to get taken down. That's about
- 5:49Speaker 1: a 13-yard gain from Kamario Taylor. Also, if you look
- 5:52Speaker 1: at this here, again, another good pocket. Now the defensive
- 5:55Speaker 1: end here on the outside, number 39, he's beating the
- 5:58Speaker 1: tackle here. Taylor, not phased. He's looking. He's got his
- 6:01Speaker 1: guy locked. Guy's right in his face. He makes a
- 6:04Speaker 1: throw to a spot where he feels like the wide
- 6:06Speaker 1: receiver will position to. Beautiful touchdown pass with guys right
- 6:11Speaker 1: in his face. And let me make sure. Let's go
- 6:14Speaker 1: back and see if this is that same play. Yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: right in his face. Gets hit in the face. And
- 6:19Speaker 1: I don't remember if there was a flag on that,
- 6:20Speaker 1: but a beautiful throw by Kamario Taylor on that play
- 6:24Speaker 1: to number 13 over the weekend. Again, Taylor, play action.
- 6:28Speaker 1: He's looking left the whole way. Got a good clean pocket.
- 6:31Speaker 1: This is just a fade route. This is up, boom, boom,
- 6:33Speaker 1: 50-50 ball, lays it out, and that's the way quarterbacks
- 6:36Speaker 1: should throw it. You put it out there, the receiver
- 6:38Speaker 1: has to hit the gas and go get it. Beautiful
- 6:40Speaker 1: touchdown there by, again, Kamario Taylor. Again, right here, play action.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Kamario's looking to his right side.
- 6:47Speaker 3: He's looking.
- 6:47Speaker 1: He's got a good pocket. He feels, though, the pressure.
- 6:49Speaker 1: He's got to get rid of the football. Makes a
- 6:51Speaker 1: nice throw. Threads the needle right there between two defenders.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Beautiful hole. And, look, credit the wide receivers, too, for
- 6:58Speaker 1: running a route to get down inside the hole there
- 7:01Speaker 1: by Kamario Taylor. Another play here we'll look at real quickly.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Kamario Taylor, we're going to break contain so he gets
- 7:07Speaker 1: outside the pocket. But he says, hey, I got a
- 7:10Speaker 1: guy who's sitting down in the end zone. I find
- 7:12Speaker 1: him a lot of quarterbacks would miss that and miss
- 7:14Speaker 1: him sitting there. That right there was one of the
- 7:16Speaker 1: icings on the cake against South Carolina over the weekend. Also, Taylor,
- 7:20Speaker 1: this is a naked backfield or empty backfield. He's going
- 7:22Speaker 1: to step back, got a clean pocket, looks real good.
- 7:25Speaker 1: And look, he just takes the outlet pass, like the
- 7:27Speaker 1: easy stuff. And that's one of the things I love.
- 7:29Speaker 1: And look, Will Rogers was no Camario Taylor, but he
- 7:32Speaker 1: would always find the easy play. Gardner mentioned easy play.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You know, those were Mike Leach quarterbacks. This is a
- 7:37Speaker 1: different offense. But, hey, we're just going to get it
- 7:38Speaker 1: out here, and it's going to be an easy first
- 7:40Speaker 1: down to Bothwell. And, of course, he does the rest
- 7:43Speaker 1: with some hard running. Taylor taking it easy. So this
- 7:46Speaker 1: is a goal line play. You've got a crisscross here
- 7:48Speaker 1: by the back and the up back. Crossing play. He says, yep,
- 7:51Speaker 1: there's my guy. I'm going to take the easy throw
- 7:53Speaker 1: right here. I'm going to let him work. He'll do
- 7:55Speaker 1: the rest. Nice job. by Kamaru Taylor on the read. Again,
- 7:59Speaker 1: neck and backfield. Taylor looks. This time he's going to
- 8:01Speaker 1: take off with it. Quarterback keeper. Something he does well.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Get down.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I don't want to take every time. Get down, and
- 8:14Speaker 1: I've got to work the play. Also, Kamaru Taylor, this
- 8:17Speaker 1: is against Minnesota. Just going to throw the quick route. Now,
- 8:19Speaker 1: that was a little behind the wide receiver. Quick skinny post, and,
- 8:22Speaker 1: of course, we know three can burn. He can get
- 8:25Speaker 1: up and get down. And he does the rest. Taylor,
- 8:27Speaker 1: play action of Bothwell. Again, a good pocket. Got a
- 8:29Speaker 1: double team here on number three. Giving him a lot
- 8:32Speaker 1: of time. Taylor with a fade route, top side, 50-50 ball.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Easy money, Camario Taylor. And look, you've got to credit
- 8:38Speaker 1: these Mississippi State wide receivers, too, because they can flat
- 8:42Speaker 1: out get it. Taylor feels the pressure, and that's a
- 8:44Speaker 1: first down. That's money every time by number one as
- 8:48Speaker 1: he continues to look really, really good. Again, play action here.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Good pocket. Got good pocket presence. He's going to step up.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He's going to make the throw. Skinny post down the
- 8:56Speaker 1: middle of the field. And again, that's money all day long.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Camario Taylor throws the ball on a rope as good
- 9:02Speaker 1: as any quarterback in the country. And I truly believe that.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And what this staff has done with him and to
- 9:08Speaker 1: get him to this point in his career, because I
- 9:11Speaker 1: can remember, you know, when he came out of Knoxville County,
- 9:15Speaker 1: he was a guy that, you know, Didn't have all
- 9:18Speaker 1: the tools. I mean, he had the physical tools, but
- 9:20Speaker 1: he didn't have all the tools. And, boy, what Jeff
- 9:22Speaker 1: Levy and that staff has done with him has been amazing.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Let's bring in a friend of the program that knows
- 9:27Speaker 1: this guy better than I do, Robbie Falk with State 1878. Robbie, sorry,
- 9:31Speaker 1: I was doing a little film study there. What Camario Taylor,
- 9:34Speaker 1: if you break his film down and his pocket presence
- 9:37Speaker 1: and he feels the rush, he doesn't get shook, he'll
- 9:40Speaker 1: stand in there and take the hit. Man, what we're
- 9:42Speaker 1: seeing is unbelievable out of this kid.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's truly special. Jake, it really is. And I
- 9:49Speaker 2: think there's so much room for him to grow is
- 9:52Speaker 2: what's scary. And we talked to him post-game on Saturday.
- 9:57Speaker 2: First thing he said was, you know, that was great,
- 10:00Speaker 2: but there are so many more plays left on the field.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I mean, it's like, dude, you just went on the road.
- 10:05Speaker 2: This is your first big road game ever. You know,
- 10:09Speaker 2: Minnesota was tough, but it's, you know, it's just different
- 10:13Speaker 2: in the SEC. When you go on the road in
- 10:15Speaker 2: the SEC, the environments are so different. And this is
- 10:19Speaker 2: a different animal. I mean, it's volatile at these atmospheres
- 10:23Speaker 2: and it was very much juiced up and he's over three.
- 10:27Speaker 2: They have zero points to the first, you know, 18
- 10:31Speaker 2: minutes of the ball game.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And all of a.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Sudden it just popped and they had 41 points and
- 10:35Speaker 2: essentially two quarters. So you're sitting there going, I mean, dude, like,
- 10:39Speaker 2: what are you, what are you talking about? And no,
- 10:42Speaker 2: he sees big picture and he's a perfectionist and he
- 10:45Speaker 2: sees all these plays that he missed in that ball game.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And I thought the biggest takeaway was him talking about
- 10:53Speaker 2: the conversation he had with Jeff Levy when he threw
- 10:55Speaker 2: that interception. And he's coming back to the sideline. And
- 10:58Speaker 2: Jeff Levy goes, man, ain't this great? You have an
- 11:01Speaker 2: opportunity here to learn from a mistake. You're on the road.
- 11:06Speaker 2: You're against the ropes. Let's turn this thing around. And
- 11:08Speaker 2: if you look back at that game and you watch
- 11:11Speaker 2: him when they're cutting to him on the sidelines after
- 11:13Speaker 2: that first possession and then he had three and out
- 11:16Speaker 2: the second possession, hunted the next possession after that. If
- 11:20Speaker 2: you look at his face on the sidelines, like that
- 11:22Speaker 2: dude was never bothered. Like he was never deterred. And
- 11:26Speaker 2: he came back and had the game he did. I mean,
- 11:29Speaker 2: this is some special stuff that we're seeing, and we're
- 11:32Speaker 2: going to see it for at least another year or two.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So there's so much more growth that he can make.
- 11:36Speaker 2: As great as he looks right now, I can't imagine
- 11:40Speaker 2: what this guy's going to look like down the road.
- 11:41Speaker 1: No, I agree with you 100% on this, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 1: because– You know, one of the things I saw, and
- 11:48Speaker 1: I know everybody did too, is on Saturday with Carolina
- 11:50Speaker 1: holding the football the way that they did, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 1: for almost basically most of the first quarter, defense lived
- 11:56Speaker 1: on the field. Taylor comes out after the rain delay,
- 11:58Speaker 1: throws the interception. You thought, oh boy, here we go downhill.
- 12:01Speaker 1: They didn't really bat an eye. And then that third
- 12:04Speaker 1: quarter really hit the gas. And to me, that shows
- 12:08Speaker 1: a lot about, you know, coaching, about leadership, about what
- 12:11Speaker 1: a team's built like. Because, you know, we've seen years
- 12:13Speaker 1: where state and other teams would fold in that sense where,
- 12:15Speaker 1: You know, just you're down. You've only had the ball
- 12:18Speaker 1: five or six times or, you know, five or six plays.
- 12:20Speaker 1: State didn't do that. They never wavered.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is something we started seeing a little
- 12:25Speaker 2: bit of this, especially last year. But if you go
- 12:28Speaker 2: back to two years ago, that team was just dreadful.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I mean, they just were not a good football team.
- 12:34Speaker 2: But they never really gave up. I mean, they continued
- 12:37Speaker 2: to fight. They played hard. To me, that always senses buy-in.
- 12:43Speaker 2: You know, coaches got things done. you know, working for
- 12:46Speaker 2: them where you got players believing that they can go
- 12:48Speaker 2: out there every week, even though there were two and 10.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And then last year they were playing hard too, and
- 12:53Speaker 2: they were getting better. So there there's been signs that
- 12:57Speaker 2: this program under Jeff Levy is taking a leap and
- 12:59Speaker 2: it's moving forward. And this year in a true year three,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I mean, this has taken, you know, a trajectory like
- 13:07Speaker 2: we have seen before with, with programs where it was
- 13:11Speaker 2: a total rebuild. And by year three, they're taking that
- 13:13Speaker 2: step forward. It's kind of an old school build here
- 13:16Speaker 2: by Jeff Levy in the transfer portal era that he's
- 13:20Speaker 2: been able to retain a lot of the same players
- 13:21Speaker 2: for two or three years now. And they've gotten better
- 13:25Speaker 2: and better every year.
- 13:26Speaker 3: They've developed.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I think you can see a clear development with Kamario
- 13:29Speaker 2: Taylor from the end of last year to this year.
- 13:33Speaker 2: And to me, it just, I don't think that people
- 13:36Speaker 2: are giving Jeff Levy and the staff enough credit. I
- 13:40Speaker 2: think we talk a lot about Kamario Taylor and rightfully so,
- 13:42Speaker 2: but I think you have to give Jeff Levy and
- 13:45Speaker 2: the staff a ton of credit for what they've been
- 13:48Speaker 2: able to do here. And they're still, you know, full
- 13:51Speaker 2: season to go, but that there is some obvious coaching
- 13:55Speaker 2: and development going on with the staff.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Let's talk about the wide receiver room, man. These guys
- 14:00Speaker 1: are fun to watch and, you know, we've seen some
- 14:02Speaker 1: good receivers come through Mississippi state, but it's not, you know,
- 14:05Speaker 1: Dan Mullen had some nice receivers, you know, rest in peace,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, to the big man. And then, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 1: you look at, Yeah, thank you, Bear Wilson. And then
- 14:13Speaker 1: you look at some others, Fred Ross and Fred Brown,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and then you get into some other guys, Jamion Lewis,
- 14:18Speaker 1: and they've had some good receivers. I mean, Mike Leach
- 14:20Speaker 1: had some, again, rest in peace, had some good receivers.
- 14:23Speaker 1: But this wide receiver group is fun, and man, they
- 14:26Speaker 1: are good.
- 14:27Speaker 2: They are. And I was telling people in the offseason, hey,
- 14:31Speaker 2: people aren't talking about these wide receivers enough. And it's
- 14:34Speaker 2: even more, like, I think now that you're starting to
- 14:37Speaker 2: actually see it, it's even more noticeable what they've been
- 14:41Speaker 2: able to do here. The impressive thing about it, Jake,
- 14:44Speaker 2: is these guys didn't come in here as superstars. These
- 14:48Speaker 2: are players that this staff identified as fits for this offense.
- 14:53Speaker 2: And it's one of these questions that I asked Jeff
- 14:55Speaker 2: Levy last year. What are you looking for in a
- 14:58Speaker 2: wide receiver? When you're out there scoping the transfer portal
- 15:01Speaker 2: and also high school recruiting, what is your Biggest attribute
- 15:05Speaker 2: that you're looking for, and he just went straight to it, speed.
- 15:10Speaker 2: And that is this wide receiver unit. They don't have
- 15:12Speaker 2: a lot of size. They're not possession guys per se,
- 15:16Speaker 2: but they can take the top off the defense fairly quickly,
- 15:19Speaker 2: and there's not really a whole lot you can do
- 15:22Speaker 2: about it. That's the thing about it. You get the
- 15:25Speaker 2: ball to Anthony Evans in space, he's going to make
- 15:27Speaker 2: you look silly. He can run by you. He can
- 15:30Speaker 2: catch it and on a dime make you miss. Zion
- 15:33Speaker 2: Reagan's is world-class speed on the outside. And there's still
- 15:37Speaker 2: a lot of more plays that he can make that,
- 15:41Speaker 2: you know, Camario quite frankly has missed him a few
- 15:43Speaker 2: times on some, you know, 50 plus yard plays. When
- 15:47Speaker 2: those two start connecting, that's going to be a guy
- 15:50Speaker 2: that can have some legitimate numbers being put up. But
- 15:53Speaker 2: Anthony Evans is a real deal. Number one guy. He's
- 15:57Speaker 2: an NFL guy in my book and he didn't do
- 16:00Speaker 2: hardly anything at Georgia for two years. Zion Reagans was
- 16:03Speaker 2: kind of getting lost in the shuffle at Oklahoma. Teams
- 16:07Speaker 2: didn't really know how to utilize these players. They're coming
- 16:09Speaker 2: to Mississippi State and they're becoming stars at Mississippi State.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Marquise Johnson's going to have probably easily his best season
- 16:17Speaker 2: as an SEC receiver. San Francisco McGee, what a development
- 16:21Speaker 2: job for him. This is a guy that some people
- 16:24Speaker 2: said was going to be a safety in the SEC
- 16:28Speaker 2: coming out of South Mississippi and They've made him into
- 16:31Speaker 2: a legitimate outside receiver. So many options, and we're not
- 16:34Speaker 2: talking about world-class track runner Kamney Capehart, who's a freshman,
- 16:40Speaker 2: and some of these guys coming up behind him. So
- 16:43Speaker 2: Grayson Harris comes in there the other day, does a
- 16:45Speaker 2: touchdown on a nice design from Jeff Webby. There is
- 16:48Speaker 2: a lot of legitimate speed and game-breaking experience, too, for
- 16:54Speaker 2: those guys out there. I think that this wide receiver
- 16:57Speaker 2: unit is really unsung around the country at this point.
- 17:02Speaker 1: How would you grade the offensive line at this point?
- 17:05Speaker 2: I think they're certainly much better than they were last year.
- 17:09Speaker 2: I think first two games, I would give them a
- 17:11Speaker 2: B plus, maybe even a, a minus.
- 17:15Speaker 3: They were not great.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Against South Carolina and they, they know that, but I
- 17:21Speaker 2: think you got to give South Carolina some credit. That's
- 17:24Speaker 2: some real dudes up front. They have, probably the best
- 17:27Speaker 2: pass rusher in the country, and Dylan Stewart, in my opinion,
- 17:31Speaker 2: he could be on an NFL roster right now. And
- 17:34Speaker 2: they had some defensive tackles with some twitch to them,
- 17:37Speaker 2: some athleticism in size and power. They had some good
- 17:41Speaker 2: edge rushers that were going to challenge those tackles, and
- 17:43Speaker 2: they absolutely did. So they got to get better at
- 17:47Speaker 2: left tackle, especially. They got to lock that position down
- 17:50Speaker 2: because that's going to be a point of emphasis for
- 17:53Speaker 2: opposing teams moving forward. But The interior of the line, Jake,
- 17:57Speaker 2: I think is really, really solid. What they got with
- 17:59Speaker 2: DJ Chester, Kanan Boone, and LJ Prudhomme. I think those
- 18:03Speaker 2: three have protected extremely well. A lot of the pressure
- 18:06Speaker 2: has come off the edges. We haven't really seen a
- 18:09Speaker 2: ton of issues up the middle. And penalties have been
- 18:12Speaker 2: pretty good from that group too. So, you know, I
- 18:16Speaker 2: think they're much better. I think they're much better, but
- 18:19Speaker 2: there's still some things that they can get better at. Luckily,
- 18:22Speaker 2: I don't think they have to be a plus to
- 18:27Speaker 2: have a lot of success in this offense because you
- 18:29Speaker 2: have a guy at quarterback that can make a lot
- 18:32Speaker 2: of plays when things break down, but you do want
- 18:35Speaker 2: to keep him healthy and keep him safe back there.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And, you know, there's an old saying, you know, you
- 18:40Speaker 1: don't find a successful man who hasn't been broken at
- 18:42Speaker 1: least a little bit in his life. Zach Arnett looks
- 18:44Speaker 1: like he's coaching his rear end off. I mean, you
- 18:45Speaker 1: just want the camera pans to him or you watch
- 18:47Speaker 1: him on the sideline. He is constantly coaching, getting after it.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And man, his unit is, That defensive side, they look
- 18:54Speaker 1: much improved. I know there's a couple injuries over there.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Speak of Zach Arnett and then, of course, maybe some
- 18:58Speaker 1: concern or not with the injuries. Obviously, you hate to
- 19:00Speaker 1: see guys go down.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, obviously, Zach is– I don't know if
- 19:06Speaker 2: there's a better fit out there for this place. Like,
- 19:09Speaker 2: he is a guy– coming up from, you know, towards
- 19:13Speaker 2: the West Coast over in New Mexico, and somehow he
- 19:17Speaker 2: is– a perfect fit for Starkville, Mississippi and for Mississippi state.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I mean, the attitude, the, the demeanor, the way he
- 19:25Speaker 2: carries himself. I mean, he's a humble guy, but he's
- 19:28Speaker 2: got that edge to him. Like he looks like a
- 19:30Speaker 2: guy that you back in the days, people told him
- 19:34Speaker 2: he couldn't do something and he's out to prove him wrong.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And he looks like a different guy to me than
- 19:40Speaker 2: he did the first time around, but this defense, it's
- 19:44Speaker 2: not going to be perfect. The numbers aren't going to
- 19:46Speaker 2: be incredible, but, I don't think that you can oversell
- 19:49Speaker 2: the job that he's done taking a group of players
- 19:53Speaker 2: in a defense that was fundamentally unsound for two years
- 19:57Speaker 2: that were not in the right fits and gaps. And
- 20:01Speaker 2: the scheme was just a mess for two seasons. And
- 20:05Speaker 2: in one offseason, they look like a fundamentally sound team
- 20:09Speaker 2: as much as anybody in the country. I mean, this
- 20:11Speaker 2: is one of the best tackling teams in the country
- 20:14Speaker 2: right now. They're not missing tackles. They're getting quarterbacks on
- 20:18Speaker 2: the ground. They're getting wide receivers and running backs on
- 20:20Speaker 2: the ground when they're in space. I'm just really impressed
- 20:24Speaker 2: with the job that they're doing to bow their necks
- 20:28Speaker 2: and hold the rope. And that's really what they had
- 20:32Speaker 2: to have happen in South Carolina when the offense was
- 20:34Speaker 2: really struggling for a little bit. they had to have
- 20:37Speaker 2: those possessions where their backs are against the wall and
- 20:40Speaker 2: they're getting stops.
- 20:41Speaker 3: And again, it went perfect.
- 20:42Speaker 2: They gave up 34 points in that game. But the
- 20:45Speaker 2: job they did in the first half to keep it
- 20:48Speaker 2: a ball game and to allow the offense to come
- 20:51Speaker 2: to life a little bit and just force field goals
- 20:54Speaker 2: I thought was huge. Then you fast forward to that
- 20:56Speaker 2: third quarter, unbelievable third quarter. They gave up five yards
- 21:01Speaker 2: and no first downs. So I said it all offseason.
- 21:05Speaker 2: I knew the defense was going to be much better
- 21:07Speaker 2: than last year. I knew the offensive line was going
- 21:09Speaker 2: to be better. I knew you had Camario Taylor and
- 21:13Speaker 2: these wide receivers. It was impossible to convince me that
- 21:18Speaker 2: these national pundits are putting out their record predictions, 2-10,
- 21:24Speaker 2: three wins, four wins. It was impossible to convince me
- 21:27Speaker 2: this team was going to be a two-win to four-win team.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I just know what they have. I know that the...
- 21:36Speaker 2: defense was significantly better I just expected a major jump
- 21:40Speaker 2: and they might be better than I thought when it's
- 21:43Speaker 2: all said and.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Done speaking of they'll have that opportunity to to do
- 21:47Speaker 1: that this weekend um I go back to we were
- 21:50Speaker 1: talking about today on my show um help me out
- 21:53Speaker 1: here I somebody said hey when's the last time you
- 21:56Speaker 1: would have seen what was going to the atmosphere that
- 21:57Speaker 1: will be in Starkville Saturday night with Missouri coming in
- 21:59Speaker 1: two undefeated teams two teams that are ranked. Mississippi State,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I go back to Dan Mullen in Florida when they
- 22:05Speaker 1: came into town when Joe Morehead was there. That atmosphere
- 22:07Speaker 1: was unbelievable. There might have been one in between here
- 22:10Speaker 1: and there that I missed, but there's no doubt Saturday
- 22:13Speaker 1: night is going to be electric. Mississippi State fans have
- 22:16Speaker 1: been dying for something like this at Davis-Wade Stadium for
- 22:19Speaker 1: a long time, and they're going to get it with
- 22:20Speaker 1: a good opponent on Saturday.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt. I think last year against Arizona State
- 22:25Speaker 2: was a really good atmosphere, and I think this should
- 22:30Speaker 2: top that. The way that game played out obviously helped things,
- 22:35Speaker 2: but it has been a long time since everybody has
- 22:39Speaker 2: been on board.
- 22:41Speaker 3: It's so weird, Jake.
- 22:43Speaker 2: All the issues with this program and some of it
- 22:47Speaker 2: is things that you can't control dating back to the
- 22:51Speaker 2: death of Mike Leach and really dating back to Dan Mullen.
- 22:55Speaker 2: When he left, the stability was kind of up and
- 22:58Speaker 2: down for this program and I give Mike Leach a
- 23:01Speaker 2: ton of credit for steadying things out and making that
- 23:05Speaker 2: thing consistent again and fairly quickly because it was a
- 23:09Speaker 2: mess when he took over. And then, you know, when
- 23:12Speaker 2: Jeff Levy took over, it was an even bigger mess
- 23:14Speaker 2: with what they had. But I still felt like even
- 23:18Speaker 2: in that 2024 season when everybody was, you know, just
- 23:22Speaker 2: up in arms and everything was, I tweeted out a
- 23:24Speaker 2: video a while ago, I was standing outside on the,
- 23:27Speaker 2: Field at Davis Wade Stadium, State lost 45-28 to Florida,
- 23:30Speaker 2: and the sprinkler systems turned on and hit me in
- 23:34Speaker 2: the face and hit my computer. It was just a disaster.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I mean, the whole year for everybody was a disaster,
- 23:40Speaker 2: and I'm sitting there thinking, when are we going to
- 23:42Speaker 2: get out of this? But everybody was, this fan base
- 23:46Speaker 2: was so hungry to get back. You saw the investment
- 23:49Speaker 2: that they made in the NIL, and they were just
- 23:53Speaker 2: waiting last year for things to happen again. And against
- 23:57Speaker 2: Arizona State, you saw that come together, but they haven't
- 23:59Speaker 2: been able to put it together again. I feel like
- 24:01Speaker 2: everybody is starting to get a little bit of that feeling,
- 24:06Speaker 2: what we felt back in 2014. And I think that's
- 24:09Speaker 2: starting to come back to the forefront a little bit.
- 24:11Speaker 2: They sense here that there's a special quarterback leading this program,
- 24:16Speaker 2: much like it was in 2014. And there's a chance
- 24:19Speaker 2: here for Mississippi State to do some special things. And
- 24:22Speaker 2: you can kind of see the early makings of it,
- 24:25Speaker 2: but It's going to take investment. It's going to take buy-in,
- 24:28Speaker 2: and that includes with this fan base. I think they're
- 24:31Speaker 2: ready to do it. I think this weekend there's going
- 24:33Speaker 2: to be a tremendous atmosphere, a great crowd, and I
- 24:36Speaker 2: think State's going to be up for the challenge and
- 24:39Speaker 2: perform really well too.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Robbie, tell everybody real quickly about State 1878. We want
- 24:43Speaker 1: them to get a subscription. We want to come see
- 24:45Speaker 1: you guys. Y'all are doing great work over there.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Come check us out.
- 24:48Speaker 2: We have membership tier as low as $ 8, which is
- 24:52Speaker 2: the lowest price of admission to get on a website.
- 24:56Speaker 2: that there is out there when it comes to Mississippi
- 24:58Speaker 2: State sports. So come check us out. We put that
- 25:01Speaker 2: Kamario Taylor documentary on YouTube. If you guys want to
- 25:03Speaker 2: watch that and get a little taste of what we're
- 25:06Speaker 2: producing right now, Kamario Taylor, Made in Mississippi. And we've
- 25:09Speaker 2: got a ton of stuff coming your way as far
- 25:11Speaker 2: as documentary-style stuff, content, written content, our podcast. So come
- 25:17Speaker 2: check us out over at State 1878.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Will I see you Friday?
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yes, I'm planning on being there.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Very nice.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Very nice.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Well, let's chalk it up Friday. We'll be coming into town,
- 25:26Speaker 1: grab some lunch, and we'll see you on Friday.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 25:28Speaker 1: All right. Thanks, Robbie.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Appreciate it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Robbie Falk, State 1878. Make sure to get him there
- 25:35Speaker 1: as well. Let's bring in, speaking of big atmospheres and
- 25:38Speaker 1: big ballgames, Brad Logan with the Ole Miss Spirit. Brad,
- 25:42Speaker 1: welcome in, brother. Thank you so much, as always, for
- 25:44Speaker 1: joining us. I think I got you on mute there.
- 25:51Speaker 3: There we go. After a day of reflection on the
- 25:54Speaker 3: show today, just kind of recapping, and I think, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 3: listening to Pete Golding today in the press conference, I mean,
- 26:00Speaker 3: he essentially turned the page last week saying that this
- 26:05Speaker 3: is not Ole Miss' Super Bowl against LSU, and obviously
- 26:09Speaker 3: it was a big game. Everybody was really excited, and
- 26:12Speaker 3: I think he's kind of led into the team that,
- 26:15Speaker 3: you know, there's life outside of this. We talked either
- 26:18Speaker 3: last week or the week before about the importance of
- 26:20Speaker 3: being able to turn the page after the game, whether
- 26:23Speaker 3: it's a win or a loss for Ole Miss or
- 26:27Speaker 3: for LSU, frankly. And I think the challenge now for
- 26:29Speaker 3: Lane Kiffin and LSU is getting that team back up
- 26:34Speaker 3: for Texas A & M. Either I've told you or
- 26:36Speaker 3: I've said it on our show, they have an easier
- 26:38Speaker 3: task of doing that should Ole Miss have lost the
- 26:41Speaker 3: game and then getting that team up to play Florida
- 26:44Speaker 3: on the road. So, big win. I think I said
- 26:49Speaker 3: either here or somewhere else, If Ole Miss is going
- 26:51Speaker 3: to have a special season, finish 10-2 or 11-1, it
- 26:55Speaker 3: absolutely had to include a win over LSU, a loss
- 26:59Speaker 3: against LSU, and that's kind of out the window. So
- 27:02Speaker 3: that special season is still on the table, at least
- 27:05Speaker 3: for Ole Miss.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah, and let's talk about, and I think it's 1,000%
- 27:08Speaker 1: on the table for Ole Miss, and I think if
- 27:10Speaker 1: you win this week, then you'd likely win the next few,
- 27:13Speaker 1: and you've got a Texas undefeated. Texas will be undefeated.
- 27:16Speaker 1: There will be a game day, another game day situation
- 27:18Speaker 1: there for Ole Miss. We'll get to Florida here in
- 27:20Speaker 1: a bit. I want to talk about Pete Golding. I've
- 27:22Speaker 1: saw a stat, and you probably know it right off
- 27:24Speaker 1: the cuff. He came into a pressure cooker, and most
- 27:29Speaker 1: of the teams he's played have been ranked teams since
- 27:31Speaker 1: he's been a coach. You go back to the college
- 27:32Speaker 1: football playoff run. You got Louisville first week, LSU this
- 27:35Speaker 1: past week. He has only lost one ballgame, and that
- 27:39Speaker 1: was against Miami at the last second of the ballgame.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Talk a little bit about the job. I think we
- 27:43Speaker 1: can– any questions of can he run the program, any
- 27:46Speaker 1: questions of You know, I thought the two-point conversion call
- 27:50Speaker 1: at the end of the game the other night was
- 27:52Speaker 1: kind of the chef's kiss, right? I mean, you're doing
- 27:54Speaker 1: this against a guy who did it there in that
- 27:56Speaker 1: stadium for several years on, you know, gambling, rolling the dice,
- 27:59Speaker 1: the analytics. Man, what Pete Golding is doing is unbelievable.
- 28:04Speaker 3: And I didn't ask this. I wanted to, but I
- 28:07Speaker 3: didn't because Chuck Roundsville asked about, man, why did you
- 28:10Speaker 3: go for two? And I wanted so bad to ask.
- 28:13Speaker 3: had not jumped offside with, with the quick, you know, cadence,
- 28:17Speaker 3: would he have ran the, the, the field goal team
- 28:19Speaker 3: out there and hit, kick the extra point. And eventually
- 28:21Speaker 3: I'll find that answer out. I just didn't, I didn't
- 28:23Speaker 3: ask it the other night. Just didn't feel like it
- 28:25Speaker 3: was a spot, but I kind of think they were
- 28:27Speaker 3: going to go for two either way. And whenever it
- 28:30Speaker 3: was half the distance, then half the distance again, they
- 28:33Speaker 3: put William Echols in the backfield and I posted it.
- 28:35Speaker 3: It's like a bulldozer back there. And he knocked out
- 28:39Speaker 3: a defensive tackle and then a linebacker. And then, um,
- 28:42Speaker 3: JT Lindsey is in the end zone. So if you
- 28:45Speaker 3: look at it, we were in the elevator when they scored.
- 28:49Speaker 3: And so I ran out of the elevator to get
- 28:51Speaker 3: to the field, and I could hear there's a special
- 28:55Speaker 3: collection of music they play whenever Ole Miss scores a touchdown.
- 28:58Speaker 3: We're like, okay, so they've scored. We'll see if we
- 29:02Speaker 3: can catch the extra point. And they were lined up
- 29:04Speaker 3: to go for two. By the time we got there,
- 29:06Speaker 3: David Smith, the head of referee, had said offsides on
- 29:09Speaker 3: the defense. I thought, okay, they're going for two. Well,
- 29:12Speaker 3: then I asked around. I was like, no, they were
- 29:14Speaker 3: going for two the whole time. I was like, what
- 29:16Speaker 3: in the world are they doing? And then the rationale
- 29:18Speaker 3: from Pete was that you're up six. There's six and
- 29:23Speaker 3: a half minutes to go. If you kick the extra point,
- 29:26Speaker 3: Lane's going for two. Okay, that's a layer of the
- 29:30Speaker 3: onion there. Let's say you don't kick the extra point.
- 29:33Speaker 3: You go for two and don't get it. Okay, Lane scores.
- 29:37Speaker 3: He kicks the extra point. LSU's up one you've got
- 29:41Speaker 3: x amount of time all you need is 30 seconds
- 29:43Speaker 3: to get to the 50 yard line for a chance
- 29:45Speaker 3: to kick a game when it kicks so when they
- 29:48Speaker 3: broke it when when pete kind of laid it out
- 29:50Speaker 3: like that i was like okay that makes good sense
- 29:52Speaker 3: because there's so many scenarios that can happen in the
- 29:55Speaker 3: last six minutes of play It turned out, and you
- 29:59Speaker 3: will probably agree, I didn't think about it until it
- 30:02Speaker 3: was three minutes ago and LSU was driving. I thought, man,
- 30:05Speaker 3: seven points and eight points is a huge difference because
- 30:10Speaker 3: when they score, and I just knew they were going
- 30:12Speaker 3: to score, Charlie Weiss, the whole time he's thinking, okay,
- 30:16Speaker 3: when we score, we have to have a two-point play
- 30:19Speaker 3: ready to go. And that puts added pressure. I don't
- 30:23Speaker 3: know how much pressure, Jake, but it puts added pressure
- 30:26Speaker 3: on Lane and Charlie and that team offensively. Number one,
- 30:29Speaker 3: we have to score. And number two, we have to
- 30:32Speaker 3: score two-point conversion just to send this thing to overtime. And, oh,
- 30:35Speaker 3: by the way, let's do so and not leave any
- 30:37Speaker 3: time on the clock so Trinidad Chambis, who's been masterful tonight,
- 30:41Speaker 3: can beat us again. So just so many layers of
- 30:44Speaker 3: the onions. And Pete Golding, our coach Lane, Saturday night.
- 30:49Speaker 3: I don't know how many times Lane will be outcoached
- 30:53Speaker 3: this year because I think he's a phenomenal coach. I
- 30:56Speaker 3: think Charlie Weiss and Lane are two of the best
- 30:58Speaker 3: play callers in college football. But Pete got the better
- 31:01Speaker 3: of him the other night. And you mentioned Pete. He
- 31:05Speaker 3: took a big step forward to me because he was
- 31:08Speaker 3: always kind of that dude running Lane's team. That's just
- 31:11Speaker 3: kind of how everybody was kind of looking at it. Now,
- 31:12Speaker 3: I see it a little differently being inside the program,
- 31:15Speaker 3: that sort of thing. But that's kind of the way
- 31:18Speaker 3: it was looked at. Now you see all these national media,
- 31:21Speaker 3: Pete Golding this, the player's coach, beating Lane. Well, he
- 31:25Speaker 3: was the player's coach before Saturday. He'll be the player's
- 31:28Speaker 3: coach after it. And the national audience just kind of
- 31:31Speaker 3: saw it. But what was special, I think, for Pete
- 31:34Speaker 3: Golding is now he can turn the page. Florida is
- 31:38Speaker 3: just football. It's just Ole Miss versus Florida. And then
- 31:42Speaker 3: we can talk about all of that. But there is
- 31:44Speaker 3: no outside the lines anymore. That's gone. And now I
- 31:47Speaker 3: think Pete has kind of been elevated a little bit
- 31:49Speaker 3: because people are like, wow, this dude really is a
- 31:51Speaker 3: good coach. He and Joe judge, uh, the head coach
- 31:54Speaker 3: of the offense, along with offense coordinator, John David Baker,
- 31:57Speaker 3: they coached a really good game. And the other night
- 31:59Speaker 3: they beat lane. Now we can also talk about all
- 32:02Speaker 3: the wide receivers that Sam Leavitt missed. He missed a lot. Uh,
- 32:07Speaker 3: we could talk about different missed assignments in the defense.
- 32:10Speaker 3: We could also talk about how well they game planned
- 32:12Speaker 3: in the first half versus how well, uh, I cannot
- 32:17Speaker 3: ever remember the dude's first name. It's Baker. It's Blake Baker.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I can never remember that.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 3: But we also have to talk about how well he
- 32:25Speaker 3: prepared at half and how well they came out in
- 32:27Speaker 3: the second half and Baker, Blake Baker, along with Lane
- 32:30Speaker 3: at LSU played so much better. At the end of
- 32:31Speaker 3: the day, it was a, it was a tie game.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I think the drive of the year, if Jake, if
- 32:37Speaker 3: we talk in January and Ole Miss has made the
- 32:39Speaker 3: playoff and, regardless of how far they go, we're going
- 32:42Speaker 3: to say, you remember that drive whenever LSU scored it,
- 32:45Speaker 3: tied it up 24 to all, and Trinidad-Chambers put the
- 32:47Speaker 3: team on his back and scored, and they went for two? Yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 3: that was the drive of the year. We might come
- 32:53Speaker 3: back to that.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I agree. And, you know, you're like me,
- 32:57Speaker 1: and a lot of people are like this. I look at,
- 32:59Speaker 1: you know, small intricacies inside a football game. That's why
- 33:01Speaker 1: I was talking to Robbie about State is, you know,
- 33:04Speaker 1: when State went down early in the first quarter and
- 33:06Speaker 1: they only had the ball like five plays, a lot
- 33:09Speaker 1: of people thought after, Kamario Taylor through the interception. Well,
- 33:12Speaker 1: this is, you know, they're fixing to get run out
- 33:13Speaker 1: of the building. They didn't, they showed a lot of
- 33:16Speaker 1: moxie employees, Ole Miss, they were up big LSU came back. They,
- 33:21Speaker 1: the momentum was definitely on LSU side. They were, Ole
- 33:23Speaker 1: Miss was able to grab that momentum back. That tells
- 33:26Speaker 1: me a lot about a football team and the makeup
- 33:28Speaker 1: of a football team from a leadership standpoint, from the,
- 33:31Speaker 1: you know, Chambliss, you know, other guys on that defense
- 33:34Speaker 1: that are, that told me a lot about Ole Miss
- 33:37Speaker 1: that they're here and they're not going anywhere this year
- 33:39Speaker 1: because they're A lot of teams can't absorb that. I mean,
- 33:41Speaker 1: you start getting hit at the knees. You know, I
- 33:44Speaker 1: hate to be corny. You go back to the old
- 33:46Speaker 1: replacements movie with Keanu Reeves, and he said it feels
- 33:48Speaker 1: like quicksand sometimes out there where things are just kind
- 33:51Speaker 1: of unraveling. It was unraveling at that point, but Ole
- 33:54Speaker 1: Miss was able to grab the momentum back and ultimately
- 33:56Speaker 1: get the win. That told me a lot about the
- 33:58Speaker 1: team this year.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and really it told me a lot.
- 34:02Speaker 3: There were a lot of positive and negative for both
- 34:05Speaker 3: the LSU and Ole Miss. The positive, it showed me
- 34:07Speaker 3: a lot about Ole Miss for the way that it
- 34:10Speaker 3: came out and it popped 17-0, then 24-7. And I'll
- 34:14Speaker 3: be honest, it showed a lot of moxie for LSU
- 34:16Speaker 3: coming out of half and just absolutely stifling Ole Miss offensively.
- 34:21Speaker 3: And everybody's like, well, what happened to Ole Miss' offense?
- 34:22Speaker 3: I was like, well, LSU figured some things out. And
- 34:26Speaker 3: it also showed a lot of moxie for Ole Miss
- 34:28Speaker 3: bouncing back and scoring. So I think there were two
- 34:31Speaker 3: really good teams. I'm still not exactly sure how good
- 34:34Speaker 3: LSU is.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I mean– They beat a really poor Clemson team. They
- 34:39Speaker 3: beat a La Tech team that's no good. I think
- 34:41Speaker 3: Ole Miss is pretty good. I mean, I don't know
- 34:43Speaker 3: if they're the third or fourth best team in the country.
- 34:46Speaker 3: I think they've got a really good quarterback. I think
- 34:48Speaker 3: they've got some really great, really, really good pieces on defense.
- 34:52Speaker 3: I think the offensive line was spectacular pass blocking. They've
- 34:56Speaker 3: got to work on their run blocking. The running game,
- 34:59Speaker 3: we know with Ke'wan Lacy hurt his shoulder. We were
- 35:02Speaker 3: told that he could have come back into the game.
- 35:04Speaker 3: At the end of the game against LSU, he did
- 35:06Speaker 3: not return. John Darnell, the Ole Miss Network, said he
- 35:09Speaker 3: will not return. Well, postgame, Pete said he could have
- 35:12Speaker 3: come back, but we wanted to hold him out. And
- 35:14Speaker 3: then in today's media availability, it's kind of questionable, day-to-day problem,
- 35:19Speaker 3: whatever adjective you want to use.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Sure.
- 35:22Speaker 3: He's banged up, and we'll see if he goes. If
- 35:24Speaker 3: he doesn't go against Florida, they'll hold him. He'll have
- 35:26Speaker 3: a couple of weeks before their next game. I think
- 35:30Speaker 3: if you look at this team, offense and defensively. Ole Miss,
- 35:35Speaker 3: like I said, I cannot say it enough. For the
- 35:37Speaker 3: special season, they had to win this one. They did. Okay,
- 35:40Speaker 3: turn the page. Next. I like, just from a football standpoint,
- 35:45Speaker 3: I like Ole Miss' chances throwing the ball vertically against Florida.
- 35:50Speaker 3: We've seen John David Baker, and Ben Garrett and I
- 35:52Speaker 3: talked about this a lot, from the press, I was like,
- 35:54Speaker 3: my gosh, they love that. that that that horizontal passing
- 35:58Speaker 3: game this is the little the flares and the bubbles
- 36:00Speaker 3: out of the backfield and the little stop routes with
- 36:03Speaker 3: the wide I mean throw the ball down the field
- 36:05Speaker 3: and they did a lot of that more in the
- 36:07Speaker 3: fourth quarter maybe a little bit more than we've seen
- 36:10Speaker 3: but they love that little what I like to call
- 36:12Speaker 3: David Cook the out routes and so I'm curious what
- 36:15Speaker 3: they'll do against Florida because Auburn lit up Florida secondary
- 36:19Speaker 3: now Florida's defense wasn't a whole lot but You know,
- 36:22Speaker 3: they lit up Auburn. I get it. But I think
- 36:25Speaker 3: Ole Miss really turned the page a little bit defensively
- 36:27Speaker 3: in the secondary. Jay, one particular piece was Sharif Denson
- 36:30Speaker 3: had not played all year. And the first play from scrimmage,
- 36:33Speaker 3: he blew up a play. And I thought, okay, the
- 36:36Speaker 3: secondary is going to be different tonight. And sure enough,
- 36:38Speaker 3: it was. Now, yeah, I mean, Sam Leavitt got a
- 36:40Speaker 3: couple of balls deep. Tredis Green goes down. Thankfully, he
- 36:44Speaker 3: is not season-ending injury, and he will be able to return.
- 36:47Speaker 3: But the game shifted a little bit when Green went out.
- 36:50Speaker 3: And Lane even intimated– Why do you think we were
- 36:53Speaker 3: practicing Daquan Wright? Why do you think we wanted him
- 36:55Speaker 3: so bad? And that was a lot of the reasons.
- 36:57Speaker 3: He did not like his tight end death. Now, a
- 37:00Speaker 3: lot of that, I don't know what the player's name is,
- 37:02Speaker 3: number 44. That's not his fault. That was a terrible
- 37:05Speaker 3: throw in the end zone. But he was a tight end,
- 37:07Speaker 3: and maybe Trey Desgreen comes back and makes that catch.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 37:11Speaker 3: But Leavitt missed a lot of receivers. He also had
- 37:14Speaker 3: very happy feet. Now, I think Will Echols had a
- 37:17Speaker 3: lot to do with that. Cam Franklin played an incredible game.
- 37:21Speaker 3: So I think maybe the happy feet was the Ole
- 37:24Speaker 3: Miss defensive line. I don't know, but, but he did
- 37:27Speaker 3: not look particularly calm in the pocket. I did not
- 37:30Speaker 3: think the offensive line of LSU was very good to me, Jake.
- 37:33Speaker 3: I don't know kind of your thoughts. I mean, what,
- 37:36Speaker 3: what was your takeaway from the game when you were
- 37:38Speaker 3: watching it?
- 37:39Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously, you know, I said last week, I picked
- 37:42Speaker 1: Ole Miss to win the football game. I did my
- 37:44Speaker 1: reasoning for was two reasons and I try to bring
- 37:46Speaker 1: it down simple. I mean, not a whole lot of
- 37:49Speaker 1: difference between the two rosters, which both pretty darn good rosters.
- 37:52Speaker 1: So if you switch jerseys, you know, you're not going
- 37:54Speaker 1: to see a whole lot of difference, but at home,
- 37:56Speaker 1: I felt like, you know, Ole Miss has been very
- 37:58Speaker 1: good at ball Hemingway stadium, uh, go all the way
- 38:00Speaker 1: back to the beginning of Lane Kiffin. That's a hard,
- 38:02Speaker 1: hard place to go win a football game. One of
- 38:04Speaker 1: the toughest in the country. And then two, I felt
- 38:06Speaker 1: like Trinidad Chambliss was, uh, you know, more consistent than
- 38:09Speaker 1: Sam Levitt. And I felt like that showed out on Saturday. Um,
- 38:13Speaker 1: you know, I felt like LSU again, I'm with you.
- 38:15Speaker 1: I don't know what we have with LSU yet. There
- 38:18Speaker 1: are some holes that we know why Lane Kippen was going,
- 38:21Speaker 1: like you said, after some of those NFL players. We
- 38:22Speaker 1: kind of see that now. They have a big matchup
- 38:25Speaker 1: with Texas A & M Saturday, who whiffed and swung
- 38:28Speaker 1: mightily against Kentucky, got knocked out. So, you know, somebody's
- 38:31Speaker 1: going out with two SEC losses this weekend. So I
- 38:35Speaker 1: think LSU has a chance to be pretty darn good
- 38:37Speaker 1: this year, you know, an eight-win, nine-win team. You know,
- 38:41Speaker 1: they played with a lot of emotion. They played with
- 38:43Speaker 1: a lot of energy. Ole Miss did, too. I think
- 38:45Speaker 1: Ole Miss, obviously, the better team won. I think if
- 38:47Speaker 1: they played 10 times, Ole Miss probably wins six of
- 38:49Speaker 1: those matchups. What I want to see now is what
- 38:52Speaker 1: Ole Miss does this week. And I think they will.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Can they put this to bed? Did they do it yesterday? And,
- 38:59Speaker 1: you know, I bring up yesterday because that's when a
- 39:00Speaker 1: lot of teams start breaking film now. They start moving
- 39:02Speaker 1: to the next week, and coaches have already started breaking
- 39:04Speaker 1: film now. What are you looking to see this weekend?
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'm picking Ole Miss to win again because I like
- 39:11Speaker 1: Trinidad over Aaron Filo. And Aaron Filo is a good quarterback.
- 39:14Speaker 1: But I'm with you. Auburn lit them up this weekend.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I think there's going to be a lot of opportunities
- 39:19Speaker 1: for Ole Miss to have success in the passing game
- 39:21Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 39:22Speaker 3: I followed the game pretty closely, the rewatch yesterday afternoon.
- 39:27Speaker 3: And funny you talk about Philo, the transfer out of Georgia. Tech.
- 39:31Speaker 3: I mean, he did some good things against Auburn, but
- 39:34Speaker 3: Auburn in the secondary was not as good as I
- 39:36Speaker 3: was really anticipating them being. I think Buster Faulkner is
- 39:41Speaker 3: a fantastic offensive coordinator, and I've always thought he was
- 39:44Speaker 3: really good. I just don't know if they're going to
- 39:47Speaker 3: have the same success against Ole Miss' defense from what
- 39:50Speaker 3: we saw Saturday than they had against Auburn. There will
- 39:53Speaker 3: be a home crowd. You know, it is an absolute
- 39:56Speaker 3: hornet's nest for Ole Miss. It's an awful place for
- 39:58Speaker 3: Ole Miss to play. Jake, as you know, they have
- 40:00Speaker 3: not won since 2008. That was the year that they
- 40:04Speaker 3: made Tim Tebow cry. Now, I will say they have
- 40:06Speaker 3: not played there but I think three times since then. So,
- 40:09Speaker 3: it's not like they're going every other year. But it's
- 40:11Speaker 3: just been a house of horrors for Ole Miss. You know,
- 40:15Speaker 3: it's funny. You bring up a really good point. And
- 40:17Speaker 3: every show that I go on, everybody is like, do
- 40:19Speaker 3: you think they'll view Florida as a trap game? I said, well,
- 40:23Speaker 3: maybe in years past because LSU is a big rival
- 40:25Speaker 3: and I can get all that. And beating LSU is
- 40:28Speaker 3: the number one thing on the Ole Miss fans and
- 40:30Speaker 3: in the players' minds every single year. But this year
- 40:33Speaker 3: was just different. And I did not say that. I
- 40:35Speaker 3: didn't say that to sound like Lane Kiffin. That accidentally
- 40:38Speaker 3: came out. And you made it edit that. You got it.
- 40:43Speaker 3: You said something interesting. I don't think it was an
- 40:47Speaker 3: excited and a jubilant as normal locker room. I think
- 40:52Speaker 3: it was relief. Relief that it's over. Now, obviously, we've
- 40:57Speaker 3: seen the pictures, the finger point. We've seen all the celebration,
- 41:00Speaker 3: the crowd. I get it. I really do. And it
- 41:02Speaker 3: was a very happy locker room. And you could tell
- 41:03Speaker 3: that Pete Golden was really enjoying himself. But with the
- 41:07Speaker 3: new age of NIL and players that don't pour into
- 41:10Speaker 3: a program for four years and then You know what
- 41:12Speaker 3: I mean? So I'm not saying it didn't mean anything
- 41:14Speaker 3: to them. They were excited, obviously. There's that aspect. And
- 41:17Speaker 3: there's another aspect of we beat the dude. We're tired
- 41:20Speaker 3: of talking about it. I mean, he ran his mouth
- 41:22Speaker 3: for I don't know how long. And then he leaves
- 41:24Speaker 3: us and says that that's a better job and you
- 41:27Speaker 3: can't win at Ole Miss. It's a crappy stadium. The
- 41:29Speaker 3: fan base is, you know, they don't show up. And
- 41:32Speaker 3: then he comes over here with a $ 50 million roster
- 41:35Speaker 3: and we beat him and his tail is tucked and
- 41:37Speaker 3: he goes home. So I think from an Ole Miss
- 41:40Speaker 3: player standpoint, they're like, Yeah, we've moved past that. It's
- 41:43Speaker 3: more of a relief to get it over with rather than,
- 41:46Speaker 3: you know, not being able to get up for Florida.
- 41:48Speaker 3: I will say this, Coach Saban, Nick Saban said something
- 41:50Speaker 3: that I've never forgotten. And he said, I don't care
- 41:54Speaker 3: if you have the best roster in college football or
- 41:57Speaker 3: you're one of the worst teams, you can only get
- 41:59Speaker 3: your team up X amount of weeks. Now, I'm not
- 42:01Speaker 3: saying you're going to lose all of those games, but
- 42:04Speaker 3: you can only really get them up, just juiced up,
- 42:07Speaker 3: ready to run through a brick wall three or four
- 42:10Speaker 3: times a year. The rest of the time, you've got
- 42:12Speaker 3: to figure out a way to motivate them. Now, this
- 42:15Speaker 3: is one of those games. This is not a historic rival.
- 42:19Speaker 3: You're walking into a bit of a trap. It's a
- 42:21Speaker 3: 230 game. It's going to be insane in Florida. So
- 42:25Speaker 3: there's got some semblances of kind of falling apart. The
- 42:29Speaker 3: good news is, is under Pete Golden, we haven't seen
- 42:31Speaker 3: Ole Miss do that. We saw them get pretty rattled
- 42:33Speaker 3: against Miami. Miami's a really good team. They were a
- 42:37Speaker 3: little rattled. And if you go back and watch the
- 42:39Speaker 3: Miami game, Trinidad threw about four picks that weren't called.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I mean, that game really shouldn't have been close. It
- 42:43Speaker 3: should have been a Miami route. But it wasn't, and
- 42:46Speaker 3: Ole Miss played well, and we all know about the
- 42:48Speaker 3: end of the game and all that. But Pete Golding
- 42:51Speaker 3: now 6-1 as a head coach, and the only loss
- 42:54Speaker 3: was against Miami. Six of those were ranked opponents. That's
- 42:57Speaker 3: a really incredible resume.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Oh, it is.
- 43:00Speaker 3: I mean, that's really stout. Now it's all about he
- 43:04Speaker 3: came in at the playoff, and then they've opened with
- 43:06Speaker 3: two really good teams at LSU and Louisville. We think
- 43:10Speaker 3: LSU's pretty good. I'll ask you this, and Ben laughed
- 43:13Speaker 3: at me, and Sudu did too. Is LSU a whole
- 43:16Speaker 3: lot better than Louisville to you right now?
- 43:19Speaker 1: No. I mean, I would say that if they played,
- 43:23Speaker 1: it's probably LSU minus three on a neutral site, and
- 43:27Speaker 1: I think that's.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Just the biggest.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Right now I agree with you. And I'll say this too, Jake,
- 43:31Speaker 3: during the summer, and I don't know if I've told
- 43:33Speaker 3: you this or not, but if you want LSU, you
- 43:37Speaker 3: need to get them early. And Ole Miss got them perfectly.
- 43:41Speaker 3: You got Lane, winner loss, you got him out of
- 43:43Speaker 3: the way. You don't have to worry about it. You
- 43:45Speaker 3: can go play ball. Secondly, they're only going to get
- 43:47Speaker 3: better as the year goes on. You look at that
- 43:50Speaker 3: roster and that dude they got from Colorado, that right tackle,
- 43:53Speaker 3: that monster, Jordan Seaton, he's going to be all pro
- 43:57Speaker 3: by the end of the year. They've got some really,
- 43:59Speaker 3: really talented receivers that they're just going to get better
- 44:02Speaker 3: as the year goes on. Defensively, the same way. Whit
- 44:05Speaker 3: Weeds can play ball for me any day of the week.
- 44:08Speaker 3: That son of a gun is a football player. All
- 44:11Speaker 3: these guys are just going to get better. Number two, Benefield,
- 44:13Speaker 3: he can play on my team every day. He is
- 44:15Speaker 3: a football player. So that team's going to be there.
- 44:18Speaker 3: I don't know if they get to 10, but I
- 44:20Speaker 3: think they can probably get to 9. They really needed
- 44:23Speaker 3: this game the other night to get to 10. But
- 44:25Speaker 3: it wouldn't surprise me if LSU went on a huge
- 44:27Speaker 3: run The funny part, Jake, is you mentioned the A
- 44:30Speaker 3: & M game. That's fascinating to me because Mike Yelko,
- 44:34Speaker 3: we talked a lot about A & M coming into
- 44:35Speaker 3: the scene. Marshall Reed throwing the football, a lot about
- 44:39Speaker 3: their running game. They cannot afford to get another loss
- 44:43Speaker 3: in conference. That Kentucky loss, that was bad.
- 44:46Speaker 2: It was.
- 44:46Speaker 3: That was a really, really bad loss. And that's coming
- 44:49Speaker 3: after Kentucky just gave up 40-plus to Alabama at home
- 44:52Speaker 3: after running its mouth. Obviously, Will Stein's like, if I'm
- 44:55Speaker 3: running my mouth, I better back it up a little bit.
- 44:58Speaker 3: So if I'm LSU, I would rather A & M
- 45:01Speaker 3: have boat race Kentucky. Now Mike Yelko, he's not coaching
- 45:06Speaker 3: for his job, but he needs a conference win because
- 45:09Speaker 3: the wheels could fall off quickly if you go 0-2
- 45:12Speaker 3: in the conference. Then people start smelling blood at that point. Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 1: No, I agree with you 100%. And, you know, we're
- 45:18Speaker 1: going to see, I think, you know, I thought Texas
- 45:21Speaker 1: A & M and Oklahoma would be two of those
- 45:22Speaker 1: teams that would live kind of– and they still may.
- 45:24Speaker 1: It's still early not to throw the baby out with
- 45:26Speaker 1: the bathwater that may live in that nine win range
- 45:28Speaker 1: to be right on that cusp of that college football
- 45:31Speaker 1: playoff selection point, you know, because I think there's going
- 45:33Speaker 1: to be a few of those teams. Oklahoma doesn't look
- 45:36Speaker 1: good that, you know, John Mateer just does not look
- 45:40Speaker 1: good right now. Throwing the football, Texas A & M,
- 45:42Speaker 1: Marshall Reed doesn't look good. So the LSU Texas A
- 45:45Speaker 1: & M matchup, and I agree with you, LSU is
- 45:46Speaker 1: only going to get better as they, as they move
- 45:49Speaker 1: through the conference. So this is a big game for,
- 45:52Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to call it a stay
- 45:53Speaker 1: alive game in the conference, but it is kind of
- 45:55Speaker 1: a stay alive game in the conference down there in
- 45:56Speaker 1: Baton Rouge. Conversely, I think the winner of Ole Miss, Florida,
- 46:00Speaker 1: they'll have an opportunity to kind of put themselves in
- 46:02Speaker 1: that upper tier, you know, with Georgia and Texas. We'll
- 46:05Speaker 1: see what happens with Texas in Tennessee this weekend. I
- 46:08Speaker 1: think Georgia will handle Oklahoma, but I think it's a
- 46:11Speaker 1: big game for Ole Miss. And I think it's equally
- 46:13Speaker 1: a big game for Florida.
- 46:15Speaker 3: I think if I'm John Summerall, who has handled the
- 46:18Speaker 3: media perfectly, You know, today it is media availability. You
- 46:21Speaker 3: may have heard it. Someone said, Coach, you know that
- 46:23Speaker 3: you guys are favored over Ole Miss.
- 46:25Speaker 1: He said, what?
- 46:26Speaker 3: He says, that just goes to show you that drugs
- 46:28Speaker 3: are still available to use. You know, just the way
- 46:31Speaker 3: that his playful banner with the media, which I know
- 46:34Speaker 3: very well that he's got a really good team, but
- 46:35Speaker 3: he's still playing that card. If they win, and I
- 46:39Speaker 3: don't think you're always going to win at all. They're
- 46:44Speaker 3: 2-0 in the conference, and I think there would be
- 46:46Speaker 3: 3-0 overall. And all of a sudden– the team that's
- 46:50Speaker 3: not really a dark horse but kind of is a
- 46:53Speaker 3: dark horse that everybody is the media darling down in
- 46:56Speaker 3: Tampa that we were all talking about, all of a
- 46:58Speaker 3: sudden now you're looking around and you start checking off. Okay,
- 47:02Speaker 3: we've knocked them out. We knocked them out. Who do
- 47:05Speaker 3: we have left? And that's where you are if you're
- 47:08Speaker 3: Ole Miss. Okay, Oklahoma's struggling. Texas is– I don't know
- 47:12Speaker 3: what the heck Texas is. They look terrible. Then they
- 47:14Speaker 3: come back and beat Ohio State. Maybe they're awesome. Maybe
- 47:17Speaker 3: they're average. Would it surprise you if Tennessee beat Texas Saturday?
- 47:22Speaker 1: I would be a little surprised, but I wouldn't be
- 47:24Speaker 1: just like totally floored.
- 47:26Speaker 3: I mean, right now it's Georgia in the field, right?
- 47:29Speaker 1: I think so, yeah. I mean, I know Georgia hasn't
- 47:31Speaker 1: played anybody, but if you look at the way that
- 47:33Speaker 1: they played, they look good. And look, Kirby Smart, watching
- 47:36Speaker 1: the end of that Arkansas game, getting ready for the
- 47:38Speaker 1: state game in the afternoon slate the other day, Kirby
- 47:41Speaker 1: Smart was coaching his rear end off at the end
- 47:43Speaker 1: of that game. I mean, they were up big. You know, Georgia,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I think, has a little chip on their shoulder. They're
- 47:49Speaker 1: on a mission, and I do– I think it's Georgia
- 47:50Speaker 1: in the field.
- 47:51Speaker 3: I think they're still on a mission from losing to
- 47:53Speaker 3: Ole Miss, Jake. Yeah.
- 47:55Speaker 1: I would agree with that.
- 47:57Speaker 3: I think Kirby is out for blood, and that's why
- 47:59Speaker 3: I really like Georgia against Ole Miss this year. I
- 48:01Speaker 3: don't care where they play. I think Kirby's going to
- 48:03Speaker 3: game plan really well, and I think Ole Miss is
- 48:06Speaker 3: in for a fight. I don't know if you saw
- 48:09Speaker 3: the media availability with Georgia and Kirby Smart, but it
- 48:12Speaker 3: was fascinating. In a very respectful way, he basically said
- 48:15Speaker 3: they were practicing in the second half. they were playing
- 48:19Speaker 3: a bunch of different people and they were really competing
- 48:21Speaker 3: against themselves because he was basically saying that their practice
- 48:24Speaker 3: that they have is more competitive than the game. I've
- 48:28Speaker 3: been exchanging messages from some media friends in Arkansas, and
- 48:32Speaker 3: it really feels like that is an atom bomb about
- 48:35Speaker 3: ready to go off because with the way they showed
- 48:38Speaker 3: up and now they've got a night game coming and
- 48:40Speaker 3: A & M' s in two weeks. I don't think Arkansas
- 48:42Speaker 3: plays this week. I don't remember– I don't have their
- 48:46Speaker 3: schedule in front of me. I just know they have
- 48:47Speaker 3: a night game coming up. I'll pull it off. I'll
- 48:49Speaker 3: pull it off real quick. To me, that's fascinating because
- 48:52Speaker 3: Hunter Urachek, the athletic director, is really in hot water
- 48:57Speaker 3: right now. You've got fans that have come to the
- 48:59Speaker 3: games with bags on their head. They have just really
- 49:02Speaker 3: not looked good. I think you said this. This is 100%.
- 49:07Speaker 3: And if you said this 10 years ago, it's more
- 49:11Speaker 3: important now than it ever was 10 years ago. This
- 49:14Speaker 3: is the most quarterback-driven sport, specifically college football. in the
- 49:20Speaker 3: SEC than I've ever seen because what teams have mediocre
- 49:24Speaker 3: quarterback play right now? Arkansas is awful. Vanderbilt with Blake
- 49:30Speaker 3: Berowitz and Curtis, Jared Curtis. Not doing well. They're struggling
- 49:36Speaker 3: right now. They did win in the last second over
- 49:39Speaker 3: NC State. Have you looked at Vanderbilt's schedule?
- 49:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 3: They better buckle up.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:43Speaker 3: And they better be excited over beating NC State. And
- 49:46Speaker 3: you kind of come up the ladder. I mean, Tennessee's
- 49:48Speaker 3: kind of in there. I mean, what's Tennessee's quarterback play
- 49:50Speaker 3: look like? And, you know, I wasn't really particularly blown
- 49:53Speaker 3: away with Auburn and Brown, their quarterback from South Florida.
- 49:56Speaker 3: I mean, he looked pretty good. And I'm not a
- 49:58Speaker 3: big Philo guy, but as long as you've got Jordan Ball,
- 50:01Speaker 3: we'll see with him. And then– Mateer, John Mateer, he
- 50:06Speaker 3: can't do everything on his own, and he's having to
- 50:08Speaker 3: do everything because they don't have a running game.
- 50:10Speaker 1: But, you know, what do you have for Arkansas? Yeah,
- 50:13Speaker 1: they're at home against Tulsa this weekend.
- 50:15Speaker 3: They may not win that one.
- 50:17Speaker 1: They may not win it.
- 50:18Speaker 3: Tulsa made Oklahoma State.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 50:21Speaker 1: And what's baffling about Arkansas is, you know, they're doing this,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and I'm sure you guys have talked about it. They're
- 50:25Speaker 1: kind of doing a peer review of the athletic department now.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I feel sorry for Ryan Silverfield because, you know, You know,
- 50:31Speaker 1: he took this job. He's only been on the job
- 50:33Speaker 1: now for three weeks, essentially, in the season, obviously longer
- 50:36Speaker 1: than that. They have some of the lowest expenditure in
- 50:39Speaker 1: NIO money in the conference. They may be at the bottom.
- 50:42Speaker 1: And I don't understand why Arkansas is not investing in money.
- 50:45Speaker 1: They do it in basketball. They give John Calipari anything
- 50:47Speaker 1: he wants. They do it in baseball. They, for some reason,
- 50:50Speaker 1: kind of latched the pocketbook in football, and that blows
- 50:54Speaker 1: my mind for a program that has had some really
- 50:56Speaker 1: big years.
- 50:57Speaker 3: You look back on it, Jake, when we were growing up,
- 50:59Speaker 3: some biggest battles I've ever seen was State and Arkansas
- 51:03Speaker 3: and Ole Miss and Arkansas. I mean, blow for blow.
- 51:06Speaker 3: State beat Arkansas to go to Atlanta in 98. Ole
- 51:10Speaker 3: Miss has had some overtime games with Arkansas, some Houston
- 51:13Speaker 3: overturned back in 08 and had just a barn burner
- 51:16Speaker 3: of a game. Arkansas has beaten State back in the day.
- 51:20Speaker 3: State beat Arkansas back to go to Atlanta. It's when
- 51:24Speaker 3: Arkansas had just lost to Tennessee and they needed to
- 51:27Speaker 3: beat State. to go to the championship game. So, I mean,
- 51:30Speaker 3: it's just long story short, I mean, Arkansas is just
- 51:33Speaker 3: a storied program and, you know, back in the old
- 51:35Speaker 3: Southwest conference days. Now, man, they're a bit of a
- 51:38Speaker 3: punchline in college football. And that's, I just hate to
- 51:41Speaker 3: see it because they're a really, really good fan base
- 51:44Speaker 3: that loves their sports and, you know, not having football
- 51:47Speaker 3: really stinks. But once again, they have KJ Jackson, a quarterback,
- 51:51Speaker 3: and he's just not very good. And he's, he's not
- 51:54Speaker 3: good in that silver field system. And they've tried to
- 51:56Speaker 3: work in KJ Hill, the, the backup quarterback that transferred
- 52:00Speaker 3: from Memphis, and he's just not very good either. They've
- 52:03Speaker 3: got a backup– they've got a third-string quarterback from up
- 52:07Speaker 3: the road. I think it's somewhere around Fayetteville– not Fayetteville,
- 52:10Speaker 3: but Bentonville or something, and it just hasn't worked. And
- 52:13Speaker 3: it's just– it's really, really sad to see. And once again,
- 52:16Speaker 3: quarterback-driven league, and it's just– if you don't have a
- 52:19Speaker 3: good quarterback, man, you're in trouble. And luckily for Mississippi
- 52:21Speaker 3: State and Ole Miss, they've got the best quarterbacks in
- 52:24Speaker 3: the country, and they're doing well right now. That's why
- 52:27Speaker 3: they're 6-0. Yes, they are.
- 52:28Speaker 1: No, they are. They absolutely are. Brad, it should be
