  Jeremiah 13. Just as a loin cloth clings

  to a man's body, I made the whole house

  of Israel and the whole house of Judah

  cling to me, says Adonai, so that they

  could be my people, building me a name

  and becoming for me a source of praise

  and honor. But they would not listen.

  What's the purpose of your life?

  Jeremiah tells us God wants intimacy

  with us. God didn't save Israel just to

  give them rules. He saved them to cling
• 0:46
  to him. Close, dependent, faithful,

  known. Christianity isn't just a
• 0:52
  religion. It's a relationship. God tells
• 0:55
  us to call him father. He calls us sons.

  The church is called the bride of
• 1:00
  Christ. That's not distant language.

  That's intimate language. This But sin
• 1:06
  broke that intimacy. Our natural bent is
• 1:09
  rebellion. We drift. We ignore. We
• 1:12
  choose our way over his. That's why
• 1:15
  Jesus came. Through his death and life
• 1:17
  and resurrection, he made peace with God

  possible. Through repentance and faith,
• 1:23
  we're born again, restored, adopted,
• 1:26
  reconciled. Now we're called to cling.

  Not occasionally, daily. Through prayer,

  through scripture, through obedience,

  through trust. Intimacy isn't emotional

  hype. It's daily faithfulness. And

  here's the mission. We cling to God and

  help others cling to him as well. That's
• 1:43
  the purpose of the church. The great
• 1:45
  commission is the mission of every
• 1:48
  Christian. Reconcile the world to God
• 1:50
  through Jesus. Teach obedience. Make
• 1:53
  disciples. Exalt Christ. There is one
• 1:56
  true God. And he has come to us in
• 1:58
  Jesus. To know Christ is to know God. To
• 2:01
  obey Christ is to honor God. To proclaim
• 2:05
  Christ is to glorify God. But Jeremiah
• 2:08
  ends with a warning. The they would not
• 2:10
  listen. Israel refused the intimacy.

  They drifted. They chose independence.

  What about us? Are we clinging or
• 2:18
  coasting? Are we pursuing God first or
• 2:21
  fitting him in? Run today's play. First,

  recommmit to closeness. Open your Bible.

  Pray honestly. Listen carefully. Obey

  quickly. Second, remove what weakens
• 2:32
  intimacy. Cut distractions. Guard your

  focus. Third, lead your home

  spiritually. Men, set the tone. Finally,

  help someone else. Cling to Christ.

  Disciple. Encourage. Share the gospel.

  Many were saved to cling to God. Not
• 2:48
  casually, completely. Don't drift. Don't
• 2:51
  ignore. Listen. Cling. Love. And let
• 2:54
  your life bring him praise and honor. If
