- 0:00Speaker 1: Live from the Double O R Life Back Studios. No
- 0:04Speaker 1: Mark Simon show. Let's take some calls. Let's go to
- 0:09Speaker 1: uh Jay in New Jersey, Jay, how you doing.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Lindy grab everybody allows us to talk about the bretat.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Cross Back. Your phone is cracking up. Let's go to
- 0:21Speaker 1: uh Stuart in South Carolina. Stuart, how you doing?
- 0:25Speaker 3: Hey? Mark?
- 0:25Speaker 1: How are you?
- 0:26Speaker 4: I just want to say, Lindsey Graham was my senator. Uh,
- 0:30Speaker 4: there are times that we were so furious with him.
- 0:33Speaker 4: We tried to get rid of him often, and there
- 0:37Speaker 4: were times that we want him. I mean the days
- 0:40Speaker 4: that he was good friends with John McCain were not
- 0:43Speaker 4: good days here with him. But you know it's Uh,
- 0:46Speaker 4: the vitriol that I've seen online about him has just
- 0:50Speaker 4: been unbelievable. I mean, people have done.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Democrats, Democrats pretty pretty tasteless about Lindsey Graham online.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Oh it was awful. And there looks they were talking
- 1:01Speaker 4: about Joe Wilson, who is I think kind of like
- 1:03Speaker 4: Joe Biden right now. You know, he's a Republican, but
- 1:06Speaker 4: he's he's kind of out of it. And they're talking
- 1:09Speaker 4: about Nancy Mays who ran for governor here and lost
- 1:12Speaker 4: so she's going to be out of Congress soon, so
- 1:15Speaker 4: they're talking about her replacing him, which I wouldn't mind.
- 1:18Speaker 4: She's she's done some pretty good things. But yeah, it
- 1:21Speaker 4: was quite a shock. You know, I've met him, I
- 1:23Speaker 4: didn't know him, but uh, yeah, it's it's uh, it's
- 1:27Speaker 4: quite a loss for South Carolina. Kim Scott is now
- 1:30Speaker 4: senior senior.
- 1:31Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, so he's now the senior cenator. But
- 1:34Speaker 1: all right, Stuart, great call, thanks for calling. Let's try.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Let's Jay is back. Jay in New Jersey. How you doing?
- 1:42Speaker 3: Yeah, Mark?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Sorry, but I people love to talk about Lindsey Graham's
- 1:46Speaker 2: moment with Brett Kavanaugh. You know that was that was
- 1:48Speaker 2: when he set up for him and all the Democrats
- 1:50Speaker 2: were trying to destroy him. But I think people forget
- 1:53Speaker 2: that Lindsey Graham voted for every liberal judge that came
- 1:56Speaker 2: his way. He voted for keg inside my ear and
- 1:58Speaker 2: every left its judge below. So I think that that's
- 2:01Speaker 2: not a legacy. If if anything, that's kind of you know,
- 2:04Speaker 2: where we should not talk about.
- 2:05Speaker 3: You know.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, he uh spent a lot of time on
- 2:10Speaker 1: the left side of things, then moved to the right
- 2:13Speaker 1: side of things. You know, they say it's it's not
- 2:15Speaker 1: where you start, it's where you finish. But he was
- 2:18Speaker 1: like McCain. He could go either way, and that's why
- 2:20Speaker 1: they called him a maverick. But that's you know, that's okay.
- 2:23Speaker 1: He was still a great guy and he did a
- 2:25Speaker 1: lot of good things. But let's go to uh Mark
- 2:28Speaker 1: and Hawthorne Mark, how you doing? Hey, how are you good?
- 2:32Speaker 3: You misspoke before when you said that he couldn't be
- 2:36Speaker 3: president because he wasn't born here. Have to be a
- 2:38Speaker 3: natural born citizen or neck?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yes, why are you the only one that couldn't figure
- 2:42Speaker 1: out what I was saying? He wasn't born here. He
- 2:44Speaker 1: can't run for president anyway, Thanks for calling uh yeah,
- 2:48Speaker 1: mom down, he wasn't born in the US, can't be president.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Let's go to uh Rich in Myrtle Beach. Rich. How
- 2:55Speaker 1: you doing?
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah? Thanks, walk y'all. Lindsay Graham was a swamp. He
- 3:00Speaker 3: was part of the Gang of eight who wanted the
- 3:02Speaker 3: amnesty for who knows how many millions of legals. He
- 3:06Speaker 3: really blew whichever way the polls blew. He didn't really
- 3:08Speaker 3: help us down here South Carolina with the gas prices,
- 3:11Speaker 3: you know, with the oil and all that kind of stuff,
- 3:14Speaker 3: and he really was, you know, and now they're talking
- 3:16Speaker 3: about you know, Agains Pam Evertt, who's from Ohio originally
- 3:20Speaker 3: who ran for governor and the primary and I lost that,
- 3:24Speaker 3: So I'm I'm a grace person. Also, I think she'd
- 3:28Speaker 3: be pretty good down here. But Lindsey Graham, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 3: you know, unless he was fighting for a Republican judge
- 3:34Speaker 3: on TV, he did really nothing. The office has never
- 3:37Speaker 3: returned phone calls. He pretty much blew with the wind
- 3:40Speaker 3: and just faced whatever polls would make him look good.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know, yeah, I forgot. We have a lot of
- 3:44Speaker 1: listeners in South Carolina. So you guys now origin from
- 3:48Speaker 1: New York.
- 3:48Speaker 3: So you guys down there, My parents have been here
- 3:51Speaker 3: since eighty five.
- 3:51Speaker 1: You guys in South Carolina went too thrilled to them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But you like your governor McMaster.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Right, He's okay, and now the big pressures on him,
- 4:00Speaker 3: some people accuse him of being kind of middle of
- 4:01Speaker 3: the road. Now in South Carolina, the governor does not
- 4:05Speaker 3: have when he the two things going to happen. Number One,
- 4:08Speaker 3: he gets to a point the tempway person which does
- 4:11Speaker 3: not have to be of the same party that the
- 4:14Speaker 3: senator who just left has to be so he could
- 4:16Speaker 3: appoint a Democrat.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Could be a disaster.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That's like that. But now we're gonna have a special
- 4:21Speaker 3: election and a primary. We're actually gonna have a primary,
- 4:24Speaker 3: so nobody's going to be anointed, and that's going to
- 4:26Speaker 3: start in August, and then they're gonna have the election.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I think they start the primary the end of July
- 4:31Speaker 3: or the beginning of August, and by the end of
- 4:33Speaker 3: August we'll have somebody who's actually gonna win that seat
- 4:35Speaker 3: and have a special election. Then in November that person
- 4:38Speaker 3: has to go against a Democratic nominee.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll work out for You'll do all right down there.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Thanks for Colin. Well, let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent,
- 4:47Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 4:48Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark, Good morning, Mara. Mark. I'd like to
- 4:51Speaker 5: offer my condolences to Lindsey Graham's sister and his niece.
- 4:56Speaker 5: In Apparently last night they were talking about Lindsey Graham
- 5:00Speaker 5: family wise, with his sister and his niece, was a
- 5:02Speaker 5: real stand up guy that when his parents died, he
- 5:06Speaker 5: took it upon himself to help raise his sister and
- 5:09Speaker 5: take care of that. That to me, aside from the politics,
- 5:14Speaker 5: that to me is the measure of a man. You know,
- 5:18Speaker 5: he did the right thing with his family. And I hope,
- 5:22Speaker 5: as Rich from South Carolina said, I hope the governor
- 5:26Speaker 5: down there picks a person who was for the America
- 5:31Speaker 5: First Trump agenda and not some wobbly rhino or god forbid,
- 5:36Speaker 5: some Democrat. And I hope we get a good pool,
- 5:40Speaker 5: as Rich said, of applicants for the Republican primary, and
- 5:45Speaker 5: that they stick with the Trump's America First agenda. As
- 5:50Speaker 5: a side note, on the Parkway yesterday and coming home
- 5:54Speaker 5: from the shore, gas was four point forty nine on
- 5:58Speaker 5: the Parkway, which compared to old Obama's days. I remember
- 6:02Speaker 5: going on the Parkway, gas was four sixty nine a gallon.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I remember that's New York, New Jersey. It's three eighty
- 6:09Speaker 1: everywhere else in the country someplace.
- 6:11Speaker 5: I know, mob I know, I know actually some places
- 6:14Speaker 5: in the country it's it's it's even less, and like
- 6:18Speaker 5: Arkansas and places like that, Oklahoma, it's even less. But
- 6:23Speaker 5: I just I'd never gass up on the Parkway, so
- 6:28Speaker 5: I'm not worried about I don't gans up on the Parkway.
- 6:31Speaker 5: First off, I just don't.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I understand, too many cameras there or something like that.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Well, no, I go to places where I pay cash.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I got it, I got with it.
- 6:43Speaker 5: I never stick a credit card.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Big with a broccoli rubber band around me.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Mob.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Ninety nine percent of the things I buy in life
- 6:53Speaker 5: either other people buy for me or I pay for
- 6:56Speaker 5: with cash.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I understand. I got it all right, Vincent, thanks for calling.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Take here, Oh when we come back. The greatest columnist
- 7:04Speaker 1: in America, Michael Goodwin, great column yesterday. We got lots
- 7:09Speaker 1: to talk to him about, and we'll do that next
- 7:10Speaker 1: on seven ten WR
