Transcript
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I'm out in my backyard.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: So if you hear the chicken singing, or you could hear a random dog bark, but it's so beautiful outside that it's 85 degrees and it's normally not 85 in March.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So here I am.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: We did some gardening today and planted some seeds and got everything ready.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: But I thought I would come and present to you the bonus segment of the charity cleaning.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: So this will be podcast number four.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And it is called How to Do a Quick Start of Your Own Charity Cleanings in 15 minutes or less.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So we can really probably stop talking about charity cleanings at this point, but we're going to talk about how to start it and actually set one up.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: So nothing really changes about the values and what you do and all that other stuff.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: But today we're going to walk you through how to set up your first charity cleaning in about 15 minutes.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Won't be perfect, definitely won't be complicated.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And it's just something that works.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So the very first thing you're going to have to do is, well, I guess I should be clear.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: This is not the full system.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: This is just version one.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: There'll actually be a how to do charity cleanings the professional way.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: I'm sure I'll come up with some other snappy name before I release the course.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And it probably won't be out till April.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: I have a couple of big projects I have to finish up.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: You can hear my chicken, and I apologize.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: They're not really supposed to be free range, but today they are.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: So you need a starting point.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And if I gave you, honestly, if I gave you everything at once, you probably wouldn't even implement it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So today we're going to just build something simple enough that you can get to use this week.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: So the very first decision you have to make is who is this for?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: So it could be that you want to just help the help out the single moms.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It could be that you went through recovery and you want to help out everybody who's been through recovery.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Not a bad deal.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Plenty of customers.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Plenty of customers everywhere, right?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: And there's this whole dynamic of do you pick the seniors?
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Do you pick the kids?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Do you pick the single dads?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: You pick what works for you.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Because these are all customers, right?
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Pick just the one category, not five, not 10, but just one.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: And it really could be a family who's going through a medical situation.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: We run into this all the time.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Everybody's heard of cleaning for a reason.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: I've done charity cleanings with them.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: I mentioned how 10 years ago I sat on this woman's couch and I blubbered with her.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Because my dog's just going to go bark at something.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: So everything will feel like it qualifies, but you have to pick just one.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: And if you don't pick one, you'll end up burning out and you'll become overwhelmed and things won't run smoothly.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: So if you want to do hoarding charity cleanings, by all means, bless your heart for doing so.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: It's just they're a lot emotionally.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And then you're going to decide how often you're going to do this.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: So is this going to be a once-a-month thing?
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Is this going to be a once-a-quarter thing?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Is this a twice-a-year thing?
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Is it a just one day a year like I do with Alan's Day?
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: You decide what works best for your business.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And then pick it because that's what protects your business, right?
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Pick it, stick with it, and boom, right?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: This will grow faster than you expect because everybody's going to want to get on the list.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And then you're going to have to define what the cleaning is.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: So it could be with cleaning for a reason.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: I've given plenty of examples of what that was like.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: So they got two, of course, it's always a chicken.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think they're rowtier than the dogs.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: You pick with cleaning for a reason.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: It was two charity cleanings max.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: And we used to give two hours each.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: If they needed more than two hours, and nine times out of ten, they did.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Um, they got a discounted rate.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: We didn't charge them a full rate.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: So you figure out whatever your wholesale price is, or maybe you want to do two, three-hour cleanings.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, you decide what you can budget for.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: And then what are you going to actually do?
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: You're not going to do everything.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Not everybody is going to be able to be in the position to have their walls washed or whatever's going on.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: You're just going to try to catch them up so that the thing that really got me with cleaning for a reason was the fact that these people are dying, right?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: They're terminal nine times out of 10.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: And that's when everyone comes to visit you.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And then the la, you know, as we as women, because we have been conditioned to do this, is oh my God, my house is a mess.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: What do I, you know, I can't, I have to figure this out, I have to figure that out.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And that's when everyone comes to see you, right?
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Is when your house is a mess and everyone's like, don't worry about it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: But in their mind, they're like, my God, my house is a mess.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: So make sure what is not included.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: An oven cleaning might not be included.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: A refrigerator cleaning might not be included, depending on the scope and the frequency of what you've picked to do.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I have found that when you do the, if you're offering two, if you do two weeks and two weeks or one month and one month works better than one week and one week because there's a lot going on with they have caregivers and people coming to visit and everything else.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: But you could always offer it.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: It's just I found that they end up backing out if they do it weekly.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: It's just something I've observed.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And then then you have to decide how someone's gonna get selected.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Do they apply?
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Do you have a Google form that's pre-filled out with questions?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Are they gonna be nominated by someone who's requesting them to get a free cleaning?
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Or do you choose privately, which is typically what I do?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: We gave away 110 free cleanings last year.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: It was all done discreetly.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: People didn't know until I said something, right?
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: So just pick one because you don't have to have a full on process, but you do have to have something.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: And then you'll default to whoever asks at the right moment.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you just want to do it and get it over with just to see what it's like, and that's fine too.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: But you don't want to react because when you react, emotions are tied into it, and then it becomes a complicated thing, and we just want to make it simple.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And you just what you just created is not random.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: It's genuinely a good deed.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: I don't see very many tradespeople, and I consider us the 23rd trade, offering something for free back to their community.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: It's very rare.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: A lot of trades guys and gals just don't do it.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they'll do it and they just won't say something, but they don't, it's not something that's pushed so evidently like it is in the cleaning industry.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Everyone expects the cleaning industry to catch all of the missing pieces of our society, and not everyone can be able to do it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: So make sure you watch your budget.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: So make sure you have a defined person, a limit, a clear service of what you're gonna offer, and a selection process.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: So when you're giving these over, these are gonna be pre-fab documents that you send over that they sign and agree to, just like your customer agreement.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: They're gonna agree to, like, hey, I'm probably gonna film this.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: I will be discretionary, but I'm gonna be da-da-da-da-da.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: They have to sign a waiver.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna come on such and such a date.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: If you have to cancel for any reason, you forfeit one of your cleanings.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: That's what's written in our contract, right?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: So make sure that you have firm agreements that are there.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: Make sure that you tell them this is gonna be a$500 cleaning, just so they understand that they're getting a$500 cleaning.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Not everyone appreciates cleaning like we do.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And I don't want there to be any misconceptions.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And here's what I want you to understand: this is not the full framework.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: What's missing are like intake forms, which will be in the course, communication templates, emails, follow-up emails, what to do if they sign up for regular service, team coordination, scheduling systems, follow-up process.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: That's the difference between the basic setup and the fully structured program, which will, like I said, will be out in April or May when I get a chance to do it.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: And that's where most people will either stop or they get stuck.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: So if you're taking action on this, you're already ahead of most people, right?
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Because if you've moved from reacting to leading, that's the shift that changes everything.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: If you want the full system workflows and the structure and how to actually scale this inside your business, that's what I'll be breaking down in my upcoming training.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: But for now, start here.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: This is version one.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: I love all of you guys.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Thanks for tuning in with me and the chickens and the dogs.
