- 0:01Welcome to Positively three hundred and sixty five, a podcast by Joe wattis we

- 0:11can entertain and inspire you to live a more positive life three hundred and sixty
- 0:15five days a year. We hope you enjoy this message. A woman goes
- 0:24to a funeral home to make arrangements for her husband's funeral. She tells the
- 0:30director that she wants her husband to be buried in a dark blue suit.
- 0:35He asks, wouldn't it just be easier to bury him in the black suit
- 0:40that he's wearing now, but she insists that he must be in a blue
- 0:45suit and gives him a blank check to buy one. When she comes back
- 0:51for the wake, she sees her husband in the coffin and he's wearing a
- 0:56beautiful blue suit. She tells the director how much she loves the suit and
- 1:00asks him how much it costs. Actually, he said it didn't cost anything.
- 1:07The funniest thing happened as soon as you left, another corpse was brought
- 1:12in, this one wearing a blue suit. I noticed that they were about
- 1:18the same size, and I asked the other widow if she would mind if
- 1:23her husband were buried in a black suit. She said that this was fine
- 1:27with her, so I just switched the heads. Do you know what the
- 1:44greatest human fear is? Psychologists tell us that the greatest human fear is the
- 1:52fear of death. It is the fear of death that makes our culture so
- 1:57adverse to aging. The typical midlife crisis where a man dumps his wife,
- 2:02gets a new sports car a younger girlfriend is all rooted in the fear of
- 2:10aging and death. Ultimately, the fear of death is the fear of the
- 2:16unknown. We will talk about this in this week's episode of Positively three sixty
- 2:22five, but first we have our trivia question of the day. Are you
- 2:25ready for it? Here? It is in what year did the Berlin Wall
- 2:32come down? We will have the answer when we come back. Do you

- 3:47this week's trivia question? The question was in what year did the Berlin Wall
- 3:53come down? The answer nineteen eighty nine. Yes, it was on nine
- 4:01November nineteen eighty nine, five days after half a million people gathered in East
- 4:09Berlin in a mass protest that the Berlin Wall, dividing Communist East Germany from
- 4:15West Germany, crumbled and fell to the ground. Now you know. Confronting
- 4:28the fear of death is an existential journey that challenges the very fabric of human
- 4:33existence. Fearing mortality is intrinsic, but facing it can be transformative. In
- 4:43acknowledging the impermanence of life, individuals can often discover a renewed appreciation for the
- 4:50present moment. This confrontation with mortality becomes a catalyst for introspection, prompting a
- 4:59profounda exploration of life's purpose and priorities. Embracing the fear of death can lead
- 5:06to a liberated mindset, encouraging a focus on meaningful connections, personal growth,
- 5:14and the pursuit of purpose. It transforms fear into a guide, steering individuals
- 5:20towards a more authentic and intentional life. While the fear of death remains a
- 5:27universal human experience, those who courageously confront it often find a deep reservoir of
- 5:33strength and a profound sense of liberation on the other side, fostering a richer
- 5:41and more purposeful existence. A sick man turned to his doctor as he was
- 5:50preparing to leave the examination room. He said, Doctor, I am afraid
- 5:57to die. Tell me what lies on the other side. Very quietly,
- 6:02the doctor said, I don't know. You don't know. You are a
- 6:09Christian man, do you not know what is on the other side. The
- 6:15doctor was holding the handle of the door. On the other side came the
- 6:18sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog
- 6:24sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of affection and
- 6:29gladness. Turning to the patient, the doctor said, did you notice my
- 6:33dog. He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was
- 6:40inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the
- 6:44door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is
- 6:49on the other side of death, but I do know one thing. I
- 6:55know my Master is there, and that is enough. Thank you for joining
