- 0:03Speaker 1: Here we are. Everybody relaxed. We are back. People were like,
- 0:06Speaker 1: where were you? We take basically one day off the
- 0:10Speaker 1: entire year on a weekday. That's not a holiday. We
- 0:13Speaker 1: were traveling from All Star. We did miss everyone. It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: Kevin Pollar and aercrats with me, Scottie Brown today. I'm
- 0:19Speaker 1: actually going on a vacation soon, so you'll have some
- 0:22Speaker 1: some other hosts mixing it up tomorrow and next vacation.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Scott were you headed Abiza? I'm not going to say
- 0:31Speaker 1: the thch I say it with a Z.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's not a thch or a Z. It's a beitha.
- 0:40Speaker 1: I can't say that, so I'm just going straight American
- 0:43Speaker 1: Merca Beza.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I need my visa for Abiza.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, what did you think of the All Star Game?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Kp Yeah, it was it was pretty good. I mean, obviously,
- 0:56Speaker 3: pitching stole the show, and I was happy to see
- 0:59Speaker 3: a former teammate of mine in the minor leagues, a
- 1:03Speaker 3: guy that I felt like was gonna eventually get a
- 1:06Speaker 3: chance to be on the stage. Miguel Vargas hit an
- 1:08Speaker 3: absolute bomb in that game. I think that was kind
- 1:10Speaker 3: of the crime of the All Star Game? Is him
- 1:13Speaker 3: not winning the MVP.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean we're talking to the fans right now.
- 1:17Speaker 2: The fans are the ones that voted for Cody Bellinger.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Cody Bellinger went a single with two RBIs won the
- 1:25Speaker 2: MVP of the All Star Game. If you look back
- 1:28Speaker 2: in twenty eighteen what his stats were in that series,
- 1:32Speaker 2: he won the MVP of that series too. So maybe
- 1:34Speaker 2: Cody's maybe Cody's got the gift for the people to
- 1:38Speaker 2: vote him in. Although I saw some of the guys
- 1:40Speaker 2: at the All Star Game, I'm like, how's that guy? Here?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Are we voting on War?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yes, sometimes we are. Absolutely a lot of people vote
- 1:50Speaker 1: on War with awards too. But how was the show, Kratz,
- 1:54Speaker 1: Because you were in.
- 1:54Speaker 2: There, tremendous, tremendous show, can tremendous environment as far as like,
- 2:00Speaker 2: obviously Philly fans did the whole booing every National League
- 2:04Speaker 2: East opponent and Jordan Walker booing the Yankees kind of
- 2:10Speaker 2: all that stuff. But the energy in the stadium was incredible,
- 2:13Speaker 2: And I thought live the sandlot recreation thing with the
- 2:18Speaker 2: guy with the kids riding onto the field was incredible.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I thought they did a incredible job. Lights everything like
- 2:28Speaker 2: they did it. They did it big in Philly for sure.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Fox is so good at that when they've
- 2:33Speaker 1: got their games and making it feel cinematic.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Chef's kids normally gets lost. Normally gets lost though when
- 2:42Speaker 2: you're at the game, because you know Fox is doing
- 2:44Speaker 2: it for their production on TV. I didn't feel like
- 2:47Speaker 2: they lost it at all. I mean to me, it
- 2:50Speaker 2: rivaled last year when I went to Atlanta and they
- 2:53Speaker 2: did the Hank Aaron hologram or whatever you call that
- 2:57Speaker 2: on the field, his iconic home run to beat Babe Ruth,
- 3:02Speaker 2: like like that was super super cool the way they
- 3:05Speaker 2: did that, and so I was like, how's Philly gonna
- 3:07Speaker 2: up end this? And like watching the kids ride the bike,
- 3:10Speaker 2: ride their bikes across the field, Freddie Freeman playing catch
- 3:14Speaker 2: at first base like it was it was really cool, Cretzy.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I didn't get a chance to watch every second of
- 3:22Speaker 3: the game, including some of the introductions, and last time
- 3:25Speaker 3: I was on I made a request for the Philly
- 3:28Speaker 3: fans to woo Mike Trout. Did they live up to it?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Was first at bat and his introduction was actually his
- 3:37Speaker 2: introduction was really epic and you could see him like waiting,
- 3:41Speaker 2: like because they had this liberty bell that they walked,
- 3:43Speaker 2: that they ran through when they came out, and you
- 3:45Speaker 2: could see him waiting, and then as soon as it
- 3:48Speaker 2: was like and from the Los Angeles Angels of Anahei,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I mean, the crowd just started going, Like I got
- 3:54Speaker 2: chills thinking about it because I was like, holy cow,
- 3:56Speaker 2: they did it. And then his first at bat was
- 3:59Speaker 2: a little bit less and then he like it went
- 4:01Speaker 2: down from there and like the game was really the
- 4:05Speaker 2: game was really the side show because a lot of
- 4:09Speaker 2: the other stuff that was going on and that home
- 4:10Speaker 2: run that micguil Vargas hit went right over our head,
- 4:13Speaker 2: hit the upper deck we were and we were in
- 4:15Speaker 2: left field there, so.
- 4:16Speaker 1: That was yeah. I mean, it was a dude, we
- 4:19Speaker 1: can say it. It was not the most entertaining game
- 4:22Speaker 1: out there. It was you know, pitching and strikeouts, which
- 4:25Speaker 1: sometimes is cool if it's a pitcher's duel, but that's
- 4:27Speaker 1: not what this is.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And it was a showcase game. It was a kids
- 4:31Speaker 2: when when KP gets to that age. If you go
- 4:34Speaker 2: and watch high school kids in a showcase game, especially
- 4:37Speaker 2: when you're talking about like the best of the best,
- 4:40Speaker 2: pitching is always going to dominate the hitting because the
- 4:43Speaker 2: hitting has zero approach to just go get a hit.
- 4:46Speaker 2: It looked like every dude was coming out swang a langon,
- 4:50Speaker 2: I mean, and there was very there was a lot
- 4:52Speaker 2: of like first pitch breaking ball heater up above the
- 4:55Speaker 2: zone like Cease was prime example. See said he thought
- 4:59Speaker 2: about throwing a first pitch change up the swore Er
- 5:01Speaker 2: first pitch of the game, and Verlander talked him out
- 5:05Speaker 2: of He's like, nah, nah, go right at him, and
- 5:08Speaker 2: he was pumping gas. Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I think my favorite part of the whole thing, too,
- 5:16Speaker 3: is when the starting pitchers miked up, and obviously Cease
- 5:19Speaker 3: is already kind of a unique character to begin with,
- 5:22Speaker 3: but to just kind of get his thought process how
- 5:24Speaker 3: this is probably how he's talking to himself on the mount.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I do love that part of the All Star Game.
- 5:29Speaker 3: You gotta be a little bit castious, though, if you're
- 5:31Speaker 3: a starting pitcher and really trying to allow the opposing
- 5:35Speaker 3: batters to really understand what you're doing. But you know,
- 5:39Speaker 3: for the one inning that he pitched, it's a pretty
- 5:41Speaker 3: incredible thing to get inside of the pitcher's head because
- 5:44Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that's the way Cease is talking to
- 5:46Speaker 3: himself out there.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Nailed it for me, on fan experience. My favorite part
- 5:51Speaker 1: when I'm watching from home is miked up players, miked
- 5:54Speaker 1: up superstars talking through. You never get that any other time,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and you can't do it any other time, of course,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but it's the best players in the world talking about
- 6:03Speaker 1: how they think, what they do, having fun with it.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So well done. Well done by the broadcast team too.
- 6:09Speaker 1: To put that all together, Okay, let's move forward, let's charge.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Let's charge on that.
- 6:17Speaker 1: The extension season continues. We actually learned about JJ Weatherholt
- 6:22Speaker 1: for the Saint Louis Cardinals right when we were wrapping
- 6:25Speaker 1: up a show a week ago. And now post All
- 6:28Speaker 1: Star Game, Chase Burns is a rich man. Seven years,
- 6:32Speaker 1: one hundred and five million dollars. Deal includes no options
- 6:35Speaker 1: or deferrals. Reading the Ken Rosenthal tweet latest guarantee to
- 6:39Speaker 1: a picture with less than four years of service, John
- 6:42Speaker 1: Rossi on it. First, the Reds have largest. What did
- 6:46Speaker 1: I say?
- 6:47Speaker 2: You said latest? I didn't want people to think it
- 6:49Speaker 2: was a late Sorry it was largest, No good.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I need that, you know, I do that right back
- 6:54Speaker 1: to everyone else, largest, largest, big money. He's over one
- 6:57Speaker 1: hundred million dollars KP. What do we think about Chase
- 7:00Speaker 1: Burns getting the big bucks from the Reds, a small
- 7:03Speaker 1: market team that is able to keep someone who would
- 7:06Speaker 1: become very expensive if you let it linger.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not even going to talk about kind of
- 7:10Speaker 3: what's pending out there and maybe the reasons he did it,
- 7:13Speaker 3: but I absolutely love it for not only the player.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I love it for the organization. A small market team
- 7:19Speaker 3: like the Reds coughing up over one hundred million dollars
- 7:21Speaker 3: to a starting pitcher. Lets you know that baseball is
- 7:24Speaker 3: in a great place that every team has the ability
- 7:26Speaker 3: to do it. It's whether or not they want to do it.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And for Chase Burns, there's gonna be a lot of
- 7:31Speaker 3: people that sit here and say, oh, man, he was
- 7:34Speaker 3: at four years of service time. He could have waited
- 7:36Speaker 3: two years and he probably could have got double that.
- 7:38Speaker 3: That's probably true, but there's also a chance he could
- 7:41Speaker 3: throw a pitch a week from now and never pitch again.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I immediately think about a guy like Walker Buehler, who
- 7:47Speaker 3: probably had a long term extension thrown in front of him,
- 7:51Speaker 3: and he was arguably one of the best pitchers in
- 7:53Speaker 3: the world. He was a World Series Hero. You know,
- 7:56Speaker 3: he was an All Star. He was a cy young
- 7:59Speaker 3: candidate every single season, and then you get to a
- 8:02Speaker 3: point in your career you have injury where you have
- 8:04Speaker 3: a couple injuries, and that big deal is no longer there.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Now we're talking about a guy who signed a one
- 8:10Speaker 3: year deal with Boston last year. We're talking about guy
- 8:12Speaker 3: who had to sign a minor league deal this year,
- 8:14Speaker 3: who's pitching for maybe you know, a couple of million
- 8:17Speaker 3: dollars this year. So as a starting especially a starting pitcher,
- 8:20Speaker 3: because their success is so much determined on their health
- 8:24Speaker 3: of their arm, you're always one pitch away from throwing
- 8:26Speaker 3: your last pitch. So for a guy like Chase Burn
- 8:28Speaker 3: to understand that and to take one hundred million dollars
- 8:31Speaker 3: and look at I don't have one hundred million dollars.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I don't know what that's like, but I can't imagine.
- 8:35Speaker 3: There's a huge difference in your lifestyle when you have
- 8:38Speaker 3: one hundred million, maybe one hundred and fifty million, or
- 8:40Speaker 3: one hundred and seventy million, or even two hundred million.
- 8:43Speaker 3: At that point, you're really rich. You could probably do
- 8:45Speaker 3: whatever you want. You have generational wealth. You're never gonna
- 8:48Speaker 3: have to work again. So good on both sides, getting
- 8:51Speaker 3: a deal done.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Big second half of the season coming up. There might
- 8:56Speaker 1: be a hot ticket, a rivalry series, a sold out
- 9:00Speaker 1: experience they need to get your hands on, and sea
- 9:03Speaker 1: geek is the spot for that. You can find good,
- 9:06Speaker 1: good pricing. They help you with the pricing green dot good,

- 9:19Speaker 4: a view from your seat. You want to know if
- 9:21Speaker 4: it's a good seat, if it's a good deal. It

- 9:36Speaker 4: can always try to find the green dot on sekk.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And for MLB tickets, you can get ten percent off
- 9:42Speaker 1: with that promo codever running all season long. Territory one
- 9:45Speaker 1: zero that's territory ten off. Your next set of MLB
- 9:48Speaker 1: tickets at Sea Geek. Make sure you click the link
- 9:50Speaker 1: in the description to download the app and have the
- 9:52Speaker 1: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 9:54Speaker 1: it later. Yeah.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Man, it's tremendous and this is part of bil A culture. Obviously.
- 10:01Speaker 2: You have to like what's going on the city that
- 10:04Speaker 2: you're in, not just the team, because over this length
- 10:07Speaker 2: of a contract, there's going to be very few of
- 10:09Speaker 2: your teammates that are going to be there the duration
- 10:12Speaker 2: of it. But look back to when I think it
- 10:15Speaker 2: was in twenty three the Reds extended Hunter Green. Hunter
- 10:20Speaker 2: Green really hadn't established himself to be the Hunter Green
- 10:24Speaker 2: that he is now. He had a Tommy John surgery
- 10:27Speaker 2: I think before he even got called up, and he
- 10:29Speaker 2: was a future prospect, so the future was bright for him.
- 10:33Speaker 2: He signed for six years fifty three million. Okay, so
- 10:38Speaker 2: a team option on top of that. But what that
- 10:41Speaker 2: does is it enables him to be in the same
- 10:44Speaker 2: clubhouse as now Chase Burns gets called up and they
- 10:48Speaker 2: have these conversations. Are you pissed that you signed it?
- 10:52Speaker 2: Do you feel like you're in prison because you're never
- 10:55Speaker 2: going to be able to leave this organization, whether they
- 10:57Speaker 2: have a good year or a bad year, Are you
- 10:59Speaker 2: excited about it? And to me, when organizations start doing that,
- 11:04Speaker 2: then they're able to go to other guys in the
- 11:06Speaker 2: organization who come up and have an incredible Essentially, this
- 11:10Speaker 2: is Burn's first full year. I mean, if he had
- 11:12Speaker 2: like ninety days last year, incredible first year, you're an
- 11:16Speaker 2: All Star. And those conversations have already happened with Hunter Green.
- 11:21Speaker 2: If they haven't, maybe I'm completely off, but this is
- 11:24Speaker 2: how it works, and they're like, He's like, sure, I
- 11:27Speaker 2: would love to be in the same work. I would
- 11:29Speaker 2: love to sign an extension.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He's got good stuff. A couple things that stand out
- 11:37Speaker 1: to me. First, I want to answer from a fan
- 11:39Speaker 1: who's in there, often Christian, who has great stuff, great questions,
- 11:43Speaker 1: but he's like, why would a player like this not
- 11:46Speaker 1: bet on themselves? And I think KP answered it. I mean,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you're seeing this with many position players. You can make
- 11:51Speaker 1: more of a case for position players. For pitchers, you
- 11:54Speaker 1: got to get paid, you got to get that first contract,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and if you're good, there's longevity for the star pay.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Look at some of the big time pitchers in our
- 12:02Speaker 1: sport and how they can pitch really well, deep into
- 12:05Speaker 1: their thirties. There will be another bite at the apple.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But there are too many stories of arms falling off
- 12:10Speaker 1: and nothing happening. You just you can't afford that and
- 12:13Speaker 1: it can happen at any times.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Are another thing, time bomb. Yeah, that's a great another thing.
- 12:19Speaker 2: As everybody knows, insurance costs have gone through the roof.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I'm not saying this is why guys are signing these
- 12:27Speaker 2: early extensions, but players used to go not of my
- 12:32Speaker 2: stature or of KP's stature, but players like this used
- 12:36Speaker 2: to go to purchase insurance, purchase like a future's insurance, Like, hey,
- 12:41Speaker 2: if these things happen in the next two years, in
- 12:44Speaker 2: the next year, I'm hedging myself that, you know what,
- 12:49Speaker 2: I'm going to pay this whatever for insurance and then
- 12:52Speaker 2: I'll be able to get the one hundred million if
- 12:54Speaker 2: that's what was offered to me. And it's kind of
- 12:56Speaker 2: the way of them hedging against injuries. It wasn't, but
- 13:00Speaker 2: it happened now. Insurance costs I heard for these guys
- 13:04Speaker 2: are just like everybody's insurance costs through the roof. Places
- 13:07Speaker 2: aren't even taking pictures. Insurance is what I'm hearing. Unless
- 13:11Speaker 2: it's like half a year, unless it's like part way
- 13:14Speaker 2: through a year, maybe a year at length.
- 13:17Speaker 1: That's good info. I've got other info for you on
- 13:21Speaker 1: the red selection process a few years ago, twenty twenty four,
- 13:25Speaker 1: and I'll be draft Charlie Condon was looked at as
- 13:30Speaker 1: a superstar college bat and many people thought that he
- 13:33Speaker 1: was going to land with the Reds. The Reds go
- 13:36Speaker 1: Chase Burns, the Rockies then take Condon at three. Nick
- 13:40Speaker 1: Kurtz taken by the way at four by the A's
- 13:42Speaker 1: and I remember back then some people were like, really
- 13:44Speaker 1: they're taking Nick Nick Kurtz that I yeah, that worked
- 13:47Speaker 1: out pretty well for them. But number one that year
- 13:50Speaker 1: Travis Bozana. That's working out well so far for Cleveland
- 13:54Speaker 1: as he's already an instant All Star. But kp for
- 13:57Speaker 1: the Reds, it's hard to recruit pitching sometimes with that ballpark.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I think it's becoming easier for them when you see
- 14:03Speaker 1: some of the success they have with their young pitching core.
- 14:06Speaker 1: But that was part of the process for them. Hey
- 14:10Speaker 1: we can land a hitter, we can get Gino Suarez
- 14:12Speaker 1: to come back to Cincinnati free agent starters if we're
- 14:15Speaker 1: even on money against another team, they're probably not coming here.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Let's draft and develop. Derek Johnson's been there for a while,
- 14:21Speaker 1: part of the pitching development program. In many other names
- 14:24Speaker 1: that you know, I don't necessarily know, but I know
- 14:26Speaker 1: are doing a great job there. They've got something special
- 14:29Speaker 1: going on with how they develop arms and how they
- 14:31Speaker 1: select arms in Chase Burns.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and everyone knows it's a hitter's ballpark. So yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 3: it's easy to get some especially guys that maybe are
- 14:40Speaker 3: trying to have a bounce back year, especially one year
- 14:43Speaker 3: deals for hitters, like come into Cincinnati, kind of boost
- 14:47Speaker 3: your stats, go back on the free agent market. It's
- 14:50Speaker 3: easy to do that with hitters. It's hard to get
- 14:52Speaker 3: a pitcher maybe in that same kind of category to
- 14:55Speaker 3: want to come into Cincinnati, knowing how much of a
- 14:58Speaker 3: hitter's ballpark it is. But you think about, you know,
- 15:02Speaker 3: drafting and developing arms. Think about their rotation. Now with
- 15:05Speaker 3: Chase Burns locked up, Hunter Green locked up, you got
- 15:08Speaker 3: Lodolo there, you got Abbot there, Like, that's four fifths
- 15:11Speaker 3: of your rotation that you're gonna have, you know, at
- 15:14Speaker 3: least for Lodolo and Abbot, I think they each probably
- 15:16Speaker 3: have four more years left before their free agents. So
- 15:19Speaker 3: I love what Cincinnati's doing. You know, when you are
- 15:23Speaker 3: a team like that that historically is playing in a
- 15:26Speaker 3: hitter's ballpark, it is really important that you go out
- 15:29Speaker 3: and you draft and develop. And they've been able to
- 15:32Speaker 3: select the right guys. You talk about the decision they
- 15:35Speaker 3: had to make in two thousand and four, twenty twenty four,
- 15:40Speaker 3: you know, choosing to go pitcher over you know, the
- 15:42Speaker 3: the best offensive player in the draft. They made the
- 15:47Speaker 3: right decision.
- 15:48Speaker 2: And I'll bring up one last point. Derek Johnson DJ
- 15:52Speaker 2: was the pitching coach in twenty eighteen with the Brewers.
- 15:55Speaker 2: The Reds pulled him away. The Reds gave Derek Johnson
- 15:59Speaker 2: something that other organizations Major League Baseball doesn't do. They
- 16:04Speaker 2: gave him a multi year contract to leave the Brewers
- 16:07Speaker 2: and come over there. And now what he has helped build,
- 16:12Speaker 2: he would never say he's built it. What he has
- 16:14Speaker 2: helped build there has turned into extreme value. Teams don't
- 16:19Speaker 2: want to spend on coaches, but they should when they
- 16:23Speaker 2: find a good one and lock them up and make sure.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Because he didn't want to leave Milwaukee, but he's a family.
- 16:29Speaker 2: How could he not leave Milwaukee? When you know what,
- 16:32Speaker 2: we're going to give you multi year con. We're gonna
- 16:35Speaker 2: give you a multi year contract like that's unheard of
- 16:38Speaker 2: in Major League Baseball. Now, look at what he's helped
- 16:41Speaker 2: build and they've put together.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, wise move. I like this one too. Chase Burns
- 16:46Speaker 1: looks like the real deal. Already an All Star this year,
- 16:49Speaker 1: locked up long term with the Red seven years, one
- 16:51Speaker 1: oh five. Mil Let's get to some trade rumors, shall we,
- 16:55Speaker 1: and reports coming up after we tell you about Riverfront Territory,
- 17:00Speaker 1: Mason Danny and C Trent, we'll have plenty on Chase
- 17:04Speaker 1: Burns being a Red for a long time now locked
- 17:07Speaker 1: in at a good price. Hey, we're here, let's talk
- 17:10Speaker 1: about show. Hey Otani for a moment, fluid drained from
- 17:13Speaker 1: the knee. He's going to be DH only for the
- 17:15Speaker 1: Yankee series, as Dave Roberts confirmed, he had a little
- 17:19Speaker 1: procedure to relieve knee irritation. No injection he was supposed
- 17:23Speaker 1: to get that after skipping the All Star Game. Is
- 17:24Speaker 1: going to be DH at minimum for this weekend's Yankees
- 17:28Speaker 1: Dodgers series.
- 17:32Speaker 3: You know, I mean, you heard me right before the
- 17:35Speaker 3: All Star break, and this is I think this is
- 17:36Speaker 3: another reason why the Ulstar break needs to be a
- 17:39Speaker 3: little bit longer, because there are probably multiple guys that
- 17:42Speaker 3: are in a situation like this that have, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 3: some bumps and bruises or a knee that needs to
- 17:47Speaker 3: get drained. And I know there was some people that
- 17:49Speaker 3: were critical that show Hey wasn't there, But when you
- 17:52Speaker 3: have to make a decision about what's best for your
- 17:55Speaker 3: team the Los Angeles Dodgers, what's best for show Hey Otani.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Him traveling to Philadelphia when he's not going to participate,
- 18:01Speaker 3: when he has this need that needs to be drained,
- 18:04Speaker 3: is the priority. I do believe if the Ulster break
- 18:06Speaker 3: was a little bit longer, he probably could have gone
- 18:09Speaker 3: to Philadelphia showed face, you know, done the red carpet thing.
- 18:12Speaker 3: You know, he is the face of baseball. To be
- 18:14Speaker 3: there is really important for the game. But when you
- 18:17Speaker 3: only have two or three days for an off day
- 18:20Speaker 3: and you have to get something like this done, it's
- 18:23Speaker 3: a reason the Ulster break. Another reason the Ulster break
- 18:25Speaker 3: needs to be a little bit longer.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Another reason I will not ever listen to anybody that
- 18:30Speaker 2: says the buy is bad in the playoffs. You do
- 18:34Speaker 2: not want the buye I will never, I will never.
- 18:37Speaker 2: This stuff is happening more often than you know. Just
- 18:41Speaker 2: so happens. It's sho heeo Tani the best player in
- 18:44Speaker 2: the world. That's why we know about it.
- 18:46Speaker 1: M Hey and also shameless plug. But I forgot to
- 18:50Speaker 1: do it at the top. We had been teasing it
- 18:53Speaker 1: last week. Foul Territory Shop dot com now has player merch. Oh,
- 18:59Speaker 1: there's an all Star collection that we released on All
- 19:03Speaker 1: Star Day, every player covered. Get your all Stars here
- 19:07Speaker 1: foul Territory Shop dot com. It's going to be the
- 19:09Speaker 1: coolest designs. We are going to have different drops every
- 19:13Speaker 1: single week. We have the player licensing down. We are
- 19:17Speaker 1: very excited about it. So you can scan the QR
- 19:19Speaker 1: code on the screen right now, or you know how
- 19:21Speaker 1: to get to the website. But if you see something
- 19:24Speaker 1: on there, go for it. If you don't see something
- 19:26Speaker 1: on there, we'll take suggestions. But we're going to be
- 19:28Speaker 1: whipping up all kinds of cool art on shirts, on sweatshirts,
- 19:31Speaker 1: on merch, so get ready for that. We're very excited
- 19:34Speaker 1: about it. Hey, Tommy, Thanks ay Dy and the a's all.
- 19:38Speaker 1: They also designated Aaron Savali for assignment, who had a
- 19:41Speaker 1: hot start and then cooled off. But Kratz, we love
- 19:44Speaker 1: the nickname. The numbers look good. He was a star
- 19:47Speaker 1: at LSU, second round pick twenty twenty four, twenty three
- 19:49Speaker 1: years old, and he's coming in hot on Friday against
- 19:52Speaker 1: the Nats.
- 19:54Speaker 2: I was at the the Nats. He can't wait till
- 19:57Speaker 2: the bullpen gets in there, so's you can get some
- 19:58Speaker 2: slangs off. Uh, there's a lot of triple A pitching
- 20:02Speaker 2: in their bullpen. I was at the combine when he
- 20:05Speaker 2: was a high scorer and I was the coach of
- 20:08Speaker 2: one team and the hitting coach on my team was
- 20:11Speaker 2: Billy Butler. And Billy Butler I was watching I go Bill.
- 20:17Speaker 2: I was like, this guy swings exactly like you. And
- 20:21Speaker 2: obviously everybody knows what Tommy Tanks ended up doing. You know,
- 20:24Speaker 2: he made a lot of money going to LSU after
- 20:27Speaker 2: being an NC state. He is pure hitter. I thought
- 20:31Speaker 2: he was gonna get drafted out of high school. Tough
- 20:33Speaker 2: for a guy, but he's now athletic and he's moving
- 20:36Speaker 2: to third I'm excited to watch it because Billy Butler
- 20:39Speaker 2: was a real hitter. Bill as a person was a goofball.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Tommy's probably a little bit less of a goofball than Bill.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And another offensive player who could be an impact guy
- 20:52Speaker 1: for an A team that actually has disappointed KP. I
- 20:55Speaker 1: don't think anybody expecting them to be the best team
- 20:57Speaker 1: in baseball, but they dropped nine in a row heading
- 21:00Speaker 1: to the break, it's looking like they're going to be sellers.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, but I think we just talked about
- 21:06Speaker 3: the Cincinnati Radds. I think it's a fair comp I
- 21:08Speaker 3: think what you've seen over the last couple of years,
- 21:11Speaker 3: the A's have done a really good job of drafting
- 21:14Speaker 3: and developing offensive players. You think about Wilson, you think
- 21:17Speaker 3: about Lawrence Butler, you think about obviously Nick Kurtz. You know,
- 21:20Speaker 3: Tommy Tanks is just kind of the next guy in
- 21:23Speaker 3: line of them being able to go out identify big
- 21:26Speaker 3: league talent at the offensive level. Obviously, them playing in
- 21:29Speaker 3: Sacramento is not a sexy draw for any starting pitcher
- 21:34Speaker 3: or any relief pitcher to want to come in and
- 21:37Speaker 3: sign their long term. You've obviously heard Luis Severino his
- 21:41Speaker 3: complaints about you know, pitching there in the mountain stuff.
- 21:44Speaker 3: And then obviously we saw what happened in Vegas with
- 21:47Speaker 3: the ball flying out there I do think at some
- 21:50Speaker 3: point Vegas will be a destination because of its geography,
- 21:54Speaker 3: the nightlife. You know, it's a non tact state. So
- 21:57Speaker 3: I do believe that they have disappointed this year, but
- 22:00Speaker 3: I do believe that the future is right for the
- 22:02Speaker 3: a's organization.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what he said, That's what he said, That's
- 22:07Speaker 2: what he said, That's what we said.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I encourage everyone to check out all of the All
- 22:14Speaker 1: Star coverage that we had because we did our shows,
- 22:16Speaker 1: we had guests there, but then we also had reporters
- 22:19Speaker 1: on the scene, Red Carpet Media Day, the whole deal.
- 22:22Speaker 1: There were great quotes coming from a variety of players.
- 22:25Speaker 1: A one thing that stood out was the conversation Wilson
- 22:28Speaker 1: Contreres had with a number of reporters about how much
- 22:31Speaker 1: he loves Boston. So Kevin Wilson has something called a
- 22:36Speaker 1: no trade class. Now the Red Sox are actually in
- 22:40Speaker 1: a much better position than they were a couple of
- 22:42Speaker 1: weeks ago. It appears that they could be buyers, if
- 22:44Speaker 1: not at least holders. But Wilson made it would say
- 22:48Speaker 1: kind of clear that he doesn't want to go anywhere,
- 22:51Speaker 1: and he's got that big boy no trade clause, which
- 22:53Speaker 1: he waived to go to Boston, and it sounds like
- 22:57Speaker 1: if the Red Sox fell apart over the next couple weeks,
- 23:00Speaker 1: he's not very interested in moving.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Is this a full note trade clause? Do we know
- 23:06Speaker 3: that we're limited? Probably full note trade. I would assume
- 23:09Speaker 3: let's just go with the full tradeause.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Let's let's go with full I think it's full, but
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'll double check.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, obviously, what the Red Sox did?
- 23:16Speaker 2: You know?
- 23:17Speaker 3: Closing the unofficial first half has completely changed the conversation
- 23:21Speaker 3: that feel around this team and what they actually might
- 23:24Speaker 3: end up going out and doing during the deadline. And
- 23:27Speaker 3: we just heard Robert talk about it. They may be
- 23:29Speaker 3: one of those teams that over the next couple of weeks,
- 23:34Speaker 3: it's it's huge what they do over the next two weeks.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Do they become sellers? Do they become buyers? And obviously,
- 23:39Speaker 3: when you're a guy like Wilson Contreras and you're in
- 23:42Speaker 3: Boston for you know, the foreseeable future, what else is
- 23:46Speaker 3: the guy supposed to say, whether he means it or
- 23:48Speaker 3: doesn't mean it, Like he's there, he has a no
- 23:50Speaker 3: trade clause. He controls what he wants to do. But
- 23:53Speaker 3: I do think winning nine straight before the break. You know,
- 23:57Speaker 3: Boston is a great place to play. Unfortunately that the
- 23:59Speaker 3: year I got a chance to play there was during
- 24:01Speaker 3: the COVID year, But as a visiting player, it was
- 24:04Speaker 3: always one of those places I enjoyed going. The fan
- 24:07Speaker 3: base is incredible. Fenway Park went an amazing place to
- 24:11Speaker 3: play eighty one games a year. So yeah, I mean,
- 24:14Speaker 3: it's not surprising he's going to come out and say
- 24:16Speaker 3: he doesn't want to go anywhere. It would be interesting though,
- 24:19Speaker 3: Let's say the Red Sox do scuffle down the stretch.
- 24:21Speaker 3: What if there's a scenario where Milwaukee comes and offers
- 24:25Speaker 3: him to trade and he gets a chance to play
- 24:26Speaker 3: with his brother, does he wave his no trade clause?
- 24:28Speaker 2: Then interesting? Milwaukee won't want to pay a first baseman
- 24:34Speaker 2: that much money for the twenty seventh season, and then
- 24:37Speaker 2: obviously he else has the team option for the twenty
- 24:40Speaker 2: eight season. So there's a lot that goes on with Wilson,
- 24:44Speaker 2: and I think him saying this is not just well, yeah,
- 24:47Speaker 2: this is what he's supposed to say, because that's what
- 24:50Speaker 2: players say. But I mean, Tarrek Scoble just said the
- 24:52Speaker 2: other day to or told a friend he wants to
- 24:55Speaker 2: stay and he doesn't want to be traded. He wants
- 24:57Speaker 2: to stay in Detroit. Well, it's not really up to
- 24:59Speaker 2: him him Wilson, it is because he has a full
- 25:02Speaker 2: no trade and that's why you get it. But it
- 25:06Speaker 2: also the reason I think he's saying this is he's
- 25:09Speaker 2: taking a role that I think he's seen other guys
- 25:12Speaker 2: take in different times of his career. Talking about the
- 25:16Speaker 2: older guys with the Cubs, the fact that he was
- 25:20Speaker 2: over got sent over to the Cardinals or signed with
- 25:23Speaker 2: the Cardinals, and you know, he was never really that
- 25:27Speaker 2: leader guy. Now now in Boston, he's kind of tried
- 25:31Speaker 2: to take that leadership role. I don't think he's done
- 25:34Speaker 2: a great job of it. I just think it's like
- 25:36Speaker 2: his emotion kind of doesn't allow him to be that leader.
- 25:39Speaker 2: But he's taking a different role on a team that
- 25:44Speaker 2: there is no leader right now because they wanted Roman
- 25:47Speaker 2: Anthony to be that leader. He's been mia the entire
- 25:51Speaker 2: season with this injury that he's got, and so I
- 25:54Speaker 2: think he's kind of fell into that role. And so
- 25:57Speaker 2: that would be a reason that hey, I want to
- 25:59Speaker 2: stay here, Like this is something I haven't experienced, I've
- 26:02Speaker 2: seen before. I haven't experienced, and I'm enjoying this leadership role.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Whether or not he's handling it well or not, that's,
- 26:09Speaker 2: you know, for us to just judge an opinion on him.
- 26:12Speaker 1: He's a great player. Productivity wise, he's been a great player,
- 26:16Speaker 1: consistent bat, and he transitioned really smoothly to first base.
- 26:20Speaker 1: It's a better position for him, Kratz. I mean, you
- 26:22Speaker 1: watched him at patcher throughout the years. This is the spot, Like,
- 26:26Speaker 1: it's not just oh well, we need a position for him,
- 26:28Speaker 1: and we'd rather not fill up the DH spot, even
- 26:31Speaker 1: though he does put up DH level numbers. Let's put
- 26:34Speaker 1: him at first. I mean, I don't know what he's
- 26:36Speaker 1: at without above average and defensive run safe, but the
- 26:41Speaker 1: top ten defensive first baseman in baseball.
- 26:44Speaker 2: He's he has done so well. And even when he
- 26:46Speaker 2: first came up, I remember playing against him, I was like, WHOA,
- 26:49Speaker 2: this dude's athletic. He just never understood and comprehended the
- 26:54Speaker 2: intricacies of being behind a dish. He knew he had
- 26:58Speaker 2: a good arm. He would have the most pickoff attempts
- 27:01Speaker 2: and the most pickoffs and the most airs of anybody.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Like I think when he came over to the Cardinals.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I think the Cardinals didn't weren't set up to allow
- 27:09Speaker 2: him to be successful behind the dish. They had Yadier Molina,
- 27:14Speaker 2: and Yadier Molina did everything for the Cardinals organization, and
- 27:17Speaker 2: then Wilson came in, and I think they were like, well, Wilson,
- 27:21Speaker 2: we're paying you fifty six million dollars over the next
- 27:23Speaker 2: five years. We need to ask He probably weren't that,
- 27:26Speaker 2: but we need you to do exactly what Yati did,
- 27:29Speaker 2: and nobody does what Yati did, like eighty seven million
- 27:32Speaker 2: for the next five years, and so I think he
- 27:35Speaker 2: was set up for failure in that sense. But first
- 27:38Speaker 2: base is I think, I honestly think watching his athleticism,
- 27:41Speaker 2: watching when he first came up he played outfield, and
- 27:44Speaker 2: the way he moved around behind the dish, I thought,
- 27:47Speaker 2: if he wanted to, he could have learned third base.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And it's done exceedingly well. Now he's getting older, he
- 27:53Speaker 2: learned first base. That's such a credit for him to
- 27:56Speaker 2: him for learning that and really in that position.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's pretty crazy. When I watch games that the
- 28:04Speaker 3: Red Sox are playing, I forget that he was even
- 28:06Speaker 3: a catcher because he looks so natural at first base.
- 28:09Speaker 3: It looks like he's played that position.
- 28:11Speaker 2: His whole life.
- 28:11Speaker 3: But and I think to Kratsey's point too, and I
- 28:14Speaker 3: think it's to you know, give my flowers to catchers.
- 28:18Speaker 3: It's very difficult to manage both sides of baseball when
- 28:23Speaker 3: you're catching. You know, there's very few really good offensive
- 28:27Speaker 3: catchers that are also really good defensively. The fact that
- 28:30Speaker 3: he's been able to remove himself from the catching position,
- 28:33Speaker 3: go to first base, not have to think about game
- 28:35Speaker 3: planning and sitting in those meetings with pitchers and reading swings,
- 28:39Speaker 3: he could just kind of be an athlete, which I
- 28:40Speaker 3: think he always was. I think he was athletic enough
- 28:43Speaker 3: to catch. I think he was athletic enough to play
- 28:46Speaker 3: the outfield. He's an athlete at first base. But it's
- 28:48Speaker 3: really allowed him to free up his mind and really
- 28:51Speaker 3: put a little bit more emphasis on what he's been
- 28:53Speaker 3: able to do offensively.
- 28:56Speaker 1: So tell me Boston winning nine in a row, heading
- 28:59Speaker 1: into the break for team and two stretch up or down,
- 29:02Speaker 1: believing it or not.
- 29:06Speaker 3: No, I'm gonna go thumbs up. I think if they're
- 29:13Speaker 3: able to get Garrett Crochet back at some point here soon,
- 29:17Speaker 3: I mean Sunny Gray has been incredible, but they were
- 29:19Speaker 3: a team in the off season. Obviously, Roman Anthony hasn't
- 29:23Speaker 3: played much this year, but they were a team in
- 29:26Speaker 3: the off season. You know, obviously, someone that follows the
- 29:28Speaker 3: Blue Jays, you have to follow teams in their division.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I really like what they did in the off season.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I like the addition to their rotation. You know, obviously
- 29:35Speaker 3: you have a legitimate closer on the back end. I
- 29:38Speaker 3: liked all their position players, how they kind of always fit.
- 29:42Speaker 3: It was a big debate in the offseason. They had
- 29:45Speaker 3: a bunch of left handed hitting outfielders. How were they
- 29:47Speaker 3: all going to play? How are they going to use
- 29:48Speaker 3: the dhrol? You know, Contreras was moving from catcher to
- 29:51Speaker 3: first base. They have a ton of young talent. It's weird.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Baseball is a weird thing because there's no debating. Alex
- 29:59Speaker 3: cor a great leader of men, and he's a great manager.
- 30:03Speaker 3: This team just underperformed and they just got hot at
- 30:06Speaker 3: the right time. And I think there is reason to
- 30:08Speaker 3: believe in this team. Not to say they're going to
- 30:12Speaker 3: go out and win every game the rest of the year.
- 30:14Speaker 3: They're going to go out and win nine more in
- 30:15Speaker 3: a row, but I do think they're in a position
- 30:18Speaker 3: where I think we all thought they would have been
- 30:20Speaker 3: at the beginning of the year.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yeah, hmm, I don't know. Not buying it. I'm not
- 30:30Speaker 2: buying it. That's my analysis. I've watched. I watched eight
- 30:36Speaker 2: of the nine games that they've played. I'm not impressed
- 30:39Speaker 2: with the things that I feel like a team that's
- 30:43Speaker 2: going to sustain this need to have. I'm very impressed
- 30:47Speaker 2: through that stretch of the young left handed pitchers that
- 30:50Speaker 2: they've had with totally and Bennett stepping up being like
- 30:54Speaker 2: consistent during this stretch. Can they do it? Can they
- 31:00Speaker 2: continue to do it? No? I don't think so, because
- 31:03Speaker 2: I don't think there's enough. When they start becoming a
- 31:06Speaker 2: winning team like they are right now, I think they're
- 31:08Speaker 2: gonna face other winning teams and they're gonna see, all right,
- 31:12Speaker 2: s col Wilson can swing it. Who else is gonna
- 31:15Speaker 2: beat us? Saidan's gonna beat you. Well, just don't throw
- 31:18Speaker 2: them a strike like Durbin's gonna beat you, Okay, make
- 31:23Speaker 2: sure you extend away to them down in a way
- 31:26Speaker 2: to like there's there's a lot of pieces that have
- 31:29Speaker 2: really been falling into place and things that have been
- 31:31Speaker 2: going well. I just don't feel like through this nine
- 31:34Speaker 2: game stretch that they've changed anything to make me think
- 31:38Speaker 2: that this team's gonna continue and continue to make a
- 31:42Speaker 2: massive run, like they would need to be a team
- 31:46Speaker 2: that's like where I'm saying, Wow, Wow, they're gonna be
- 31:49Speaker 2: They're gonna be a consistent five games over five hundred,
- 31:53Speaker 2: which would be great in the American League. I just
- 31:55Speaker 2: don't see that. Like they climbed all the way back
- 31:57Speaker 2: to five hundred, and I feel like they're just a
- 31:59Speaker 2: team that's gonna hang right around that area, which could
- 32:03Speaker 2: be bad for him because they might keep some of
- 32:04Speaker 2: the pieces that are going to be expiring after this year.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you were relying on Roman Anthony to carry the team.
- 32:10Speaker 1: He's not even healthy unfortunately. And then Garat Crochets are
- 32:12Speaker 1: number one. For me, I'm sticking to the lack of
- 32:15Speaker 1: personnel that would not be able to help them in
- 32:18Speaker 1: the second half here, at least for a while. So
- 32:21Speaker 1: I'm with you. I think I actually think every team
- 32:23Speaker 1: in the AL East is better than them right now.
- 32:26Speaker 1: We'll see what that looks like in the second half.
- 32:28Speaker 1: I like every other team in the AL East better
- 32:30Speaker 1: than Boston I do. We'll see what it looks like.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I mean, they might not finish the last but I
- 32:34Speaker 1: think every other team has a better chance of making
- 32:36Speaker 1: the playoffs. And I just like the look of the
- 32:37Speaker 1: roster right now for every team coming out of the break.
- 32:40Speaker 1: I don't know when some of the big boys are
- 32:41Speaker 1: coming back for Boston, but those are my thoughts. Well,
- 32:49Speaker 1: I'm buying stock and Lance mccullor's junior guys. He was
- 32:52Speaker 1: traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. Brewers are taking on two
- 32:55Speaker 1: and a half mil for the rest of the season
- 32:57Speaker 1: foreign change getting taken on by the Ash, So this
- 33:00Speaker 1: is looked at as a little bit of salary relief
- 33:03Speaker 1: for a team that will hopefully use it at the
- 33:05Speaker 1: trade deadline. They also do get Prince Fielder's kid, Jaden Fielder,
- 33:09Speaker 1: Cecil Fielder's grandson, who was undrafted but has played well
- 33:13Speaker 1: early on a ball in the minor leagues. But let's
- 33:16Speaker 1: talk about mcculler's here. He had a no trade class krat.
- 33:19Speaker 1: You played with him, He's gone through a ton. He
- 33:21Speaker 1: has had some legendary moments with the Astros, but he's
- 33:23Speaker 1: also gone through a ton on the injury front, and
- 33:25Speaker 1: even this year, then went through injuries again, but he
- 33:28Speaker 1: did get back on the field for the first time
- 33:29Speaker 1: in a long time. Brewers want him, Brewers spending millions
- 33:33Speaker 1: of dollars on him, not saying Kyle Hyrison is going
- 33:37Speaker 1: to appear productivity wise out of Lant mccullor's junior. But
- 33:41Speaker 1: the Brewers are pitcher whisperers.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Well, and why are they a pitcher whisper? That's why
- 33:46Speaker 2: we always ask what does Hooky do? He just allows
- 33:51Speaker 2: them to be who they are, surrounded by what they
- 33:56Speaker 2: feel like makes them really good. I think the Astros
- 33:59Speaker 2: do a really good job of that too. It's not
- 34:01Speaker 2: like he's coming from the Angels. It's not like he's
- 34:04Speaker 2: coming from the Rockies, places where teams are just devoid
- 34:07Speaker 2: of any awareness of what it takes to compete successfully
- 34:12Speaker 2: at the big league level. I think it's something that
- 34:14Speaker 2: the Angels do know, and Lance, knowing Lance as well
- 34:18Speaker 2: as I know Lance, I know his intelligence is acuum
- 34:23Speaker 2: for what he can do. Well. Is there the differences?
- 34:27Speaker 2: I think the Brewers when he's put in the game
- 34:32Speaker 2: don't necessarily say, Okay, well we need to lean on you.
- 34:35Speaker 2: We're gonna try to suck another ending out of you.
- 34:38Speaker 2: We're just gonna get what we get and then we're
- 34:40Speaker 2: gonna move on. It's not oh you know what. You know,
- 34:43Speaker 2: the Brewers never let pitchers pitch like this is just
- 34:46Speaker 2: what we do. We're gonna go ahead and we're gonna
- 34:48Speaker 2: throw all the pitchers out there, and I think that's
- 34:49Speaker 2: where they'll find the value with Lance, trying to not
- 34:52Speaker 2: let him be over extended, which staying healthy is Lance's
- 34:58Speaker 2: biggest need. Now he's healthy this year, he's got a
- 35:02Speaker 2: walk less guys. He's really That's that's what it comes
- 35:04Speaker 2: down to. He's got to walk less guys.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I touched on it earlier in the show.
- 35:09Speaker 3: I mean, hopefully it's the start of many more dominoes
- 35:13Speaker 3: to fall. I'm a I'm a pro trade deadline guy.
- 35:16Speaker 3: I love seeing teams be active. You know, Lance's time
- 35:21Speaker 3: in Houston has been, you know, just opposite ends of
- 35:24Speaker 3: the spectrum. He's had some really really great moments and
- 35:27Speaker 3: some really big spots for that organization, and then he
- 35:30Speaker 3: spent a lot of time on the il there too.
- 35:32Speaker 3: You know the fact that he was able to get
- 35:34Speaker 3: back on the field this year after a couple of
- 35:36Speaker 3: years out is great for him, it's great for the game.
- 35:40Speaker 3: It's a big risk by the Brewers. You know, there's
- 35:42Speaker 3: talks about you know, potentially you know, the mids down
- 35:46Speaker 3: the stretch, kind of limiting his innings, maybe skipping some starts.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Lance mccollor isn't the epitome of health. He's not a
- 35:52Speaker 3: guy that you as an organization are depending on him
- 35:55Speaker 3: going out and making his starts every fifth day with
- 35:58Speaker 3: his injury history. But he has been a very successful
- 36:02Speaker 3: pitcher in this league. Krats talked about what the Brewers do.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Hopefully he gets over there, you know, first time in
- 36:08Speaker 3: a different place and a great environment in Milwaukee. I
- 36:11Speaker 3: think he's gonna be welcome with open arms there. I
- 36:13Speaker 3: think he's gonna love his time there. They're just gonna
- 36:16Speaker 3: allow him to go out and be himself and then
- 36:18Speaker 3: not have him extend and do more than he needs
- 36:21Speaker 3: to do if he has to go in and pitch
- 36:23Speaker 3: three four innings, you know, as an opener, as a starter,
- 36:27Speaker 3: maybe come in and as an opener. I think they're
- 36:29Speaker 3: just going to allow him to do what Lance does,
- 36:31Speaker 3: spin the crap out of the ball, and hopefully he
- 36:34Speaker 3: he'd stay healthy because it could be a big addition
- 36:37Speaker 3: for the Brewers down the stretch. And this is a
- 36:39Speaker 3: guy who's got a ton of postseason experience, a ton
- 36:42Speaker 3: of World Series experience. And I think that's also the
- 36:45Speaker 3: other part why they're bringing this guy in. This is
- 36:47Speaker 3: a guy who's been there, done it.
- 36:49Speaker 2: He knows how to.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Get over the hump, and hopefully bringing a guy like
- 36:52Speaker 3: that in your clubhouse kind of you know, rubs off
- 36:56Speaker 3: on everyone else that's in there and pitching depth.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I mean, what you is hurt ms taking a little
- 37:02Speaker 1: breather for a sect, same with Kyle Harrison on the shelf.
- 37:06Speaker 1: So rack up some more starting pitching. You damn need
- 37:09Speaker 1: it to get through the second half. And then maybe
- 37:12Speaker 1: you're able to switch something up with Lance and he becomes,
- 37:15Speaker 1: you know, the lance of old or even a piece
- 37:17Speaker 1: of the lance of Old for a bit of time
- 37:18Speaker 1: to help the Brewers. Why are you shaking your head?
- 37:21Speaker 2: Don't expect that. Don't expect that from this move. In
- 37:24Speaker 2: my opinion, they're going to extract value from it for
- 37:28Speaker 2: them to put up two and a half million dollars.
- 37:31Speaker 2: And you know they also did get Caleb Gorton Caleb Gordon.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think it was Colton, Colton.
- 37:39Speaker 2: So Colton, Gordon. I knew it was a sea. I
- 37:41Speaker 2: knew it was a sea. Caleb didn't sound right. And
- 37:44Speaker 2: you look at his numbers and you go, Okay, there's
- 37:46Speaker 2: not a lot there, but it's more depth. Yes, don't
- 37:50Speaker 2: expect Lance McCullers to be something that he's not been
- 37:56Speaker 2: for years, but expect the Brewers to extract the most
- 37:59Speaker 2: value they can out of him and his slider. But
- 38:03Speaker 2: when you have a one and a half whip, it's
- 38:05Speaker 2: not like you're getting unlucky, like that's a that's a
- 38:09Speaker 2: very drastic number.
- 38:23Speaker 1: KP. What do we have here?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Okay, so this is my This is my West Coast
- 38:30Speaker 3: Baseball League three on three home run derby X style.
- 38:35Speaker 3: My team happened to win the home run derby at
- 38:38Speaker 3: their All Star game that was in Victoria, BC. That
- 38:42Speaker 3: I was just at that I just flew home from yesterday.
- 38:45Speaker 3: It was a friendly reminder that I can no longer
- 38:49Speaker 3: do it. I can do it for like a short stint,
- 38:51Speaker 3: like I can hit some homers, I go make some plays,
- 38:54Speaker 3: But to play for one hundred and sixty two games
- 38:57Speaker 3: a year and have to do it every single day,
- 39:00Speaker 3: those days are long gone, because my right g loot
- 39:03Speaker 3: today is so sore from swinging the bat. I was
- 39:06Speaker 3: getting jammed in BP two crats. Granted my VP thrower
- 39:09Speaker 3: was strolling kind of firm, but majority of those balls
- 39:12Speaker 3: that hit my bat were too close to the label.
- 39:14Speaker 3: So I'm more into doing this the coaching aspect, But
- 39:18Speaker 3: every once in a while it is fun, like you
- 39:20Speaker 3: did last week, Kratzy, going out and just playing one
- 39:23Speaker 3: game or one event. I'm good at doing that, but
- 39:26Speaker 3: it is a friendly reminder that my playing days are
- 39:29Speaker 3: long gone.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Your new swing needs a torpedo bat. It's not your fault.
- 39:34Speaker 2: We'll just make a bat that's manipulated to your torpedo bat.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the torpedo bat definitely would have been
- 39:41Speaker 3: useful because majority of those ball marks were down by
- 39:44Speaker 3: the label. But you know, in Pratzy fashion, I am
- 39:48Speaker 3: wearing the All Star Game hat right here. If you
- 39:51Speaker 3: guys haven't been to Victoria, BC, which is on Vancouver Island,
- 39:56Speaker 3: it is a place out of movies fairy Tales. Got
- 39:59Speaker 3: to take a he played from Victoria back to Vancouver
- 40:03Speaker 3: yesterday and then flew home and that was one of
- 40:06Speaker 3: the most incredible experiences that I've had with my family
- 40:09Speaker 3: in a long time.
- 40:10Speaker 2: That's so awesome. And the playing, the playing back to
- 40:13Speaker 2: back days, No nude, not built like that, not built
- 40:18Speaker 2: like that. It's it takes a mindset when you're playing.
- 40:22Speaker 2: You would never be like I can't play again. Never
- 40:25Speaker 2: did I say I'm not playing tomorrow. Never once. It's
- 40:30Speaker 2: a mindset. You'd get back into it. Easy, peasy. Give
- 40:32Speaker 2: you two months, KP. You're ready to go. This is
- 40:35Speaker 2: my team. USA didn't want you to manage because you
- 40:40Speaker 2: you're so close to still being able to play.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he's to athletic, you do. There's too much going
- 40:45Speaker 1: on there still, KP.
- 40:46Speaker 3: You look at me, you get the itch a little bit.
- 40:49Speaker 3: You do get the itch a little bit. But like
- 40:51Speaker 3: you said, it is a mindset. But now that my
- 40:53Speaker 3: mind's been programmed that, I don't have to do it anymore,
- 40:56Speaker 3: you know, And there has been there hasn't been the
- 40:59Speaker 3: potential And like you mentioned earlier, Krats, the opportunity to
- 41:02Speaker 3: be an Olympian is everyone's dream, you know. And I
- 41:05Speaker 3: do have an opportunity to play for a certain country
- 41:07Speaker 3: in the Olympics. There are some steps that I have
- 41:11Speaker 3: to do in order to get my citizenship. But it's
- 41:14Speaker 3: a hard thing to commit to. As much as I
- 41:16Speaker 3: would love to say I'm an Olympian, I just can't
- 41:18Speaker 3: go out there and just go play. I have to
- 41:21Speaker 3: start training and I have to commit myself. And once
- 41:23Speaker 3: you kind of get out of that mindset of everything
- 41:27Speaker 3: you do in life is dedicated around when am I
- 41:29Speaker 3: going to train? What am I gonna eat? How am
- 41:31Speaker 3: I going to work out? How many swings am I
- 41:32Speaker 3: gonna take? Once you finally move on from that part
- 41:36Speaker 3: of your life and you actually have a little bit
- 41:38Speaker 3: of freedom to do some other things, it's hard to
- 41:40Speaker 3: jump back in. But I'm still undecided if I'm gonna
- 41:43Speaker 3: go back and try to play in the Olympics.
- 41:45Speaker 2: That team has to qualify first KP so that's quite
- 41:48Speaker 2: a few games, okay, team, That team isn't automatically in.
- 41:53Speaker 2: There's only three teams since we're doing crafts hats kind
- 41:56Speaker 2: of Yeah, this is one of the teams that's already in.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I heard it A Venezuela and the US are in.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I think, right, you're right, yeah, because of what they
- 42:07Speaker 2: did in the WBC, and that's just that's just the
- 42:10Speaker 2: ranking system. So the team that you're gonna possibly play
- 42:13Speaker 2: for It's a long road to hoe and then in
- 42:16Speaker 2: twenty eight you're gonna have to play. They're gonna go
- 42:20Speaker 2: and ask you, Hey, we need you to play somewhere
- 42:22Speaker 2: in Triple A up until the season if you guys qualify.
- 42:25Speaker 2: I'm just saying I've been there. I quit. They asked
- 42:29Speaker 2: me to play, and it would have been awesome for
- 42:33Speaker 2: the US.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Sounds like a lot of work.
- 42:36Speaker 1: In two years. The Olympics is still two years away, and.
- 42:41Speaker 2: My son's is your glove back either my Son's not. No, no, no,
- 42:45Speaker 2: no takebacks.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Okay, no, no takebacks. But I do want to say
- 42:49Speaker 3: one other thing real quick before we sign off. I
- 42:51Speaker 3: am wearing this jersey right now. I'm rocking a Tim
- 42:53Speaker 3: Range jersey. I'm actually when I get off this show,
- 42:57Speaker 3: I got to go inside and pack. I'm actually going
- 42:59Speaker 3: to Cooperstown for my first time. I'm doing a coach's
- 43:01Speaker 3: clinic out there. I've never been to Cooperstown. I'm really
- 43:05Speaker 3: excited to get a chance. I'm gonna get a chance
- 43:06Speaker 3: to go to the Hall tomorrow and then the camp
- 43:09Speaker 3: is a little bit later in the day. And I
- 43:10Speaker 3: thought it was super fitting that I'd wear one of
- 43:13Speaker 3: my prize possessions here, Tim Rain's expos jersey.
- 43:19Speaker 2: That's so sick. But you've never been to Cooperstown. Been
- 43:23Speaker 2: to Cooperstown. I never played for.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I grew up in southern California and I didn't really
- 43:27Speaker 3: play travel baseball wasn't a big thing, so I never
- 43:30Speaker 3: got a chance. And I just I don't know, I've
- 43:33Speaker 3: never been to Cooperstown. And this opportunity present itself, and
- 43:36Speaker 3: I was like, I have to go, no matter if
- 43:38Speaker 3: I just got off a plane last night, I'm getting
- 43:40Speaker 3: on another one tonight to go out there because and
- 43:43Speaker 3: then the fact that I'm gonna get a chance to
- 43:45Speaker 3: go walk the hall that I've never done. I'm retired,
- 43:47Speaker 3: I have an appreciation for it. It's gonna be an
- 43:49Speaker 3: incredible experience.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Please document it for us. I know you will. I'm
- 43:53Speaker 1: excited for you. I like to see when like an
- 43:55Speaker 1: adult goes for the first time versus obviously a kid.
- 43:58Speaker 1: It's a very different experience. Both cool experiences. But I
- 44:01Speaker 1: love that. Hey, two things on the way out. Number one,
- 44:04Speaker 1: we have a live event experience. If you're interested in
- 44:07Speaker 1: you're in the area, the Philly Show is going to
- 44:10Speaker 1: be at Manco and Manco devouring some incredible pizza. They'll
- 44:13Speaker 1: be live with Charlie Manuel and Larry Boa as special
- 44:17Speaker 1: guest in person. That's tomorrow down the Shore so Lacky
- 44:22Speaker 1: Southberry and Amara Junior there for it. And coming up
- 44:25Speaker 1: next a live edition of Dodgers Territory Your Faves, so
- 44:30Speaker 1: we're excited for that. It's one of well over twenty
- 44:34Speaker 1: shows that cover a particular team on the FT Network.
- 44:37Speaker 1: We Love You and FT is back on Friday.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Not me but e ft yab Make sure Kevin doesn't
- 44:45Speaker 2: take my bet.
- 44:50Speaker 1: No sweat home run to can get your stake back
- 44:52Speaker 1: in bonus bets. You don't have to worry about your

- 45:03Speaker 1: scoring position. It's bet MGM, King of the Swing and
