- 1:04Speaker 1: Legwald is our magic eight ball. He joins us right
- 1:07Speaker 1: now here on the Crackman the Lindahl Show. Jeff Legwald
- 1:09Speaker 1: brought to you by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
- 1:12Speaker 1: ib W. Local sixty eight. Start with the job and
- 1:15Speaker 1: with a career. Oh Leggie, the winds are blowing in Denver,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and the winds of rumors were blowing there in Indianapolis
- 1:22Speaker 1: at the scouting combine, our guys Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter.
- 1:28Speaker 1: How was their combine week? Who's going up? Who's going down?
- 1:34Speaker 3: But you know, I think, you know, neither one of
- 1:37Speaker 3: them worked out. But they both did, uh from what
- 1:41Speaker 3: I was told, and when I talked to folks, they
- 1:44Speaker 3: both did really well. And the you know, the shitdowns
- 1:48Speaker 3: and the informal discussions they have with with coaches and scouts,
- 1:53Speaker 3: they they did great with that. You know, I don't
- 1:56Speaker 3: think Charlevis Hunter in particular, you know, I don't think
- 2:01Speaker 3: his draft standing was going to be impacted. He could
- 2:03Speaker 3: have worked out three. I think you know, he would
- 2:08Speaker 3: have budged on anyone's straftboard and didn't find it intriguing.
- 2:12Speaker 3: He he uh, essentially said, you know a lot of
- 2:17Speaker 3: a lot of teams. Multiple teams interviewed him exclusively as
- 2:23Speaker 3: a you know or predominantly as a wide receiver, and
- 2:28Speaker 3: many teams interviewed him predominantly as a defensive back. So
- 2:32Speaker 3: it sounds like and he even said at one point
- 2:36Speaker 3: when uh we were in front of him that you know,
- 2:40Speaker 3: if if the team told him he could only be
- 2:46Speaker 3: play on one side of the ball, that he would
- 2:48Speaker 3: hope they would give him the opportunity to earn. That
- 2:52Speaker 3: was the that was the word he used to earn
- 2:54Speaker 3: the other side of the ball. And I thought that
- 2:57Speaker 3: was probably the most using no get from his time.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And you know, Schnuer isn't gonna be able to deal
- 3:05Speaker 3: with some of the questions until he just throws with
- 3:09Speaker 3: at Pro Day, and I think a lot of it
- 3:12Speaker 3: will be you know, how much do they see you
- 3:16Speaker 3: want to dictate the workout or Shador and his representatives
- 3:20Speaker 3: want to dictate the workout or are they gonna let
- 3:22Speaker 3: teams asked him to make certain throws uh at the workout?
- 3:28Speaker 3: So I think Pro Day there's still a couple of
- 3:30Speaker 3: questions there with Schnuer around Pro Day.
- 3:33Speaker 1: By the way, we were kicking this around about Travis
- 3:35Speaker 1: Hunter the other day, and I know, like, ultimately you
- 3:38Speaker 1: can only draft him once, but his team stack prospects
- 3:42Speaker 1: on their board and you always talk about the stack Leggie,
- 3:45Speaker 1: what do you do with Travis Hunter? Do you put
- 3:47Speaker 1: him twice, does like Travis Hunter receiver and Travis Hunter cornerback.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Does he get his own line in multiple spots on
- 3:53Speaker 1: the stack?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Well, it's just a total grade. So he probably just
- 3:58Speaker 3: gets the really good line and then you know everything
- 4:02Speaker 3: that comes with him is on that lone.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Yeah, So I mean, you know, yeah, there's no one.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I've spoken to zero people who would think, you know,
- 4:13Speaker 3: who don't believe he's just absolutely the most talented or
- 4:17Speaker 3: one of the most talented players on the board. It's just, uh,
- 4:21Speaker 3: you know, some people wonder he's not a tremendously big player,
- 4:26Speaker 3: so they wonder about the durability if you ask him
- 4:29Speaker 3: to play all the snaps he wants to. Uh, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 3: how long is the two ways thing really realistic? Even
- 4:37Speaker 3: if he does it? You know, is it two years?
- 4:39Speaker 3: Is it three years? You know, how does practice work?
- 4:43Speaker 3: So you know, I think ultimately he will be drafted
- 4:47Speaker 3: by the team who wants him at the position they
- 4:50Speaker 3: see him at, and and they will see a ten
- 4:54Speaker 3: year starter at that at that position if if he's
- 4:58Speaker 3: fortunate with his health.
- 5:00Speaker 4: All Right, the other question I have. You know, there's
- 5:01Speaker 4: some teams and we went through this when Quentin Nelson
- 5:03Speaker 4: was there. They don't want to draft to guard that
- 5:05Speaker 4: highst and so forth. Is there a favoritism as far
- 5:08Speaker 4: as using a high draft choice over receiver versus corner
- 5:12Speaker 4: or which position?
- 5:13Speaker 3: Great?
- 5:13Speaker 4: Would you say there's more value.
- 5:15Speaker 3: To well, you know, I will just tell you what
- 5:19Speaker 3: GM still me, and that's that receiver is always a
- 5:23Speaker 3: far more crowded position in terms of draftable games, and
- 5:28Speaker 3: that's a much more difficult player to find a corner
- 5:32Speaker 3: than he is a wide receiver. But people just think
- 5:35Speaker 3: he could do both as an NFL player and probably
- 5:39Speaker 3: make a Pro Bowl at either side of the ball,
- 5:43Speaker 3: because he's so talented. But he is a more refined
- 5:48Speaker 3: player and a more difficult player to find a corner.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Right now, all right, you know how this goes. I
- 5:55Speaker 4: don't have to tell you. You've been in the industry, you've
- 5:57Speaker 4: watched this thing evolved. But it was interesting me and
- 5:59Speaker 4: I talking about it. Obviously, Shador doesn't work out there,
- 6:03Speaker 4: Jackson Dart, did you look at some of the mocks
- 6:05Speaker 4: you look at some of all the Monday after stuff
- 6:08Speaker 4: that's going on, and some people suggesting maybe Jackson Darts
- 6:12Speaker 4: moved up closed in on Shudur Passador. Whatever do you
- 6:15Speaker 4: buy any of that? Did Jackson Dart have a great
- 6:17Speaker 4: weekend to make Schaduur nervous about hearing his name first?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Uh? You know, I think Cam Warren is really his
- 6:25Speaker 3: competition to hear his name first. Uh. And I don't
- 6:29Speaker 3: think either Cam or Chadur was passed by anybody. And
- 6:33Speaker 3: Indian I you know again, people people thought I was
- 6:37Speaker 3: too harsh after the Senior Ball. You know, I kept
- 6:39Speaker 3: hearing what a great week Dart had at the Senior
- 6:43Speaker 3: Ball and I did not see that. And uh, his
- 6:47Speaker 3: throwing session was just okay at the combine, he you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: he held serve, as they say. And I thought if
- 6:56Speaker 3: anyone won quote unquote won the throwing session, that was
- 7:00Speaker 3: it was the Louisville kid.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Chuck talking to Jeff Legwald here on a Monday afternoon.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Jeff Legwald, brought to you by the International Brotherhood of
- 7:09Speaker 1: Electrical Workers IBW Local sixty eight. Start with the job
- 7:12Speaker 1: and with a career, Leggy. We've been talking a lot
- 7:15Speaker 1: about Broncos wide receivers today here on the show. How
- 7:19Speaker 1: much do they like the group that they currently have.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I think they like them it, you know, I think
- 7:25Speaker 3: their issue is they'd like a little more speed overall
- 7:30Speaker 3: because they currently divide their speed because Men's and Franklin
- 7:36Speaker 3: play the majority of their snaps at the Z at
- 7:40Speaker 3: the Z spot, So that means if you could get
- 7:45Speaker 3: some receiver help at the the you know, so called
- 7:48Speaker 3: X or the Y with with more speed, you would
- 7:52Speaker 3: like that if you're the Broncos. But if you add
- 7:55Speaker 3: more speed at tight end and you add more of
- 7:58Speaker 3: a threat as a receiver running back, then perhaps you're
- 8:02Speaker 3: more comfortable with your group of wide receivers. So I
- 8:04Speaker 3: think it all fits together.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Really, what's an ideal way to structure at Courtland Sutton
- 8:10Speaker 1: contract extension right now?
- 8:13Speaker 3: You know, that's a great question. I mean, he's he's
- 8:16Speaker 3: been healthy, he's certainly productive. I mean he's just had
- 8:20Speaker 3: his second thousand yard season of his career, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 3: and he you know, ten his career high and touchdowns
- 8:29Speaker 3: last year. So he's obviously taking care of himself in
- 8:35Speaker 3: that regard. But he is to that point where teams
- 8:38Speaker 3: aren't gonna want to take it too far out. So
- 8:41Speaker 3: I think if you know, they find a way to
- 8:44Speaker 3: get something done. I think there's a lot of kicking
- 8:47Speaker 3: bonuses and some performance things that helped him and sort
- 8:52Speaker 3: of convince him to sign it.
- 8:56Speaker 4: All right, one of the mock drafts came out here
- 8:58Speaker 4: there's a new name for the Broncos because all the
- 9:00Speaker 4: guys we've talked about to this point, including Colston Lovelin,
- 9:04Speaker 4: and moved up into the top fifteen. So no shock there.
- 9:07Speaker 4: But it's the running back Marion Hampton. I believe he's
- 9:11Speaker 4: out of North Carolina. What do you think of him?
- 9:13Speaker 4: Do you think that's a realistic name for Bronco fans
- 9:15Speaker 4: to educate themselves on.
- 9:17Speaker 3: I do know. I mean a lot of teams think
- 9:20Speaker 3: he's the number two back in the draft. It's just
- 9:22Speaker 3: a question of do we really think in terms of
- 9:27Speaker 3: value you're going to see two tight ends when the
- 9:29Speaker 3: picks are actually made. Do we really think two tight
- 9:33Speaker 3: ends are going on the top fifteen And do we
- 9:35Speaker 3: really think two running backs are going in the top twenty.
- 9:39Speaker 3: You know, I think that's still a shaky bet, you know,
- 9:44Speaker 3: when I talk to football people, but he's certainly RB
- 9:49Speaker 3: two for a lot of teams. I will say I
- 9:52Speaker 3: think Sampson sits their offense better and he is one
- 9:58Speaker 3: of the few players one of the things that happens
- 10:02Speaker 3: at a workout at the Combine as the workout finishes,
- 10:05Speaker 3: and there's always a set of scouts on the field
- 10:09Speaker 3: and assistant coaches who helped with the drills, who helped
- 10:13Speaker 3: put the players through the drills. Some are on the
- 10:16Speaker 3: field just to observe. And the running back from Tennessee
- 10:21Speaker 3: Sampson was one of only two players the entire Combine
- 10:26Speaker 3: that I saw a Bronco assistant coach or scout talk
- 10:30Speaker 3: to after the workout. Now that could mean, hey, what
- 10:34Speaker 3: happened in the South Carolina game and that's it, or
- 10:39Speaker 3: they want to just a little more get to know
- 10:42Speaker 3: you time, so you know, take it for what it's worth.
- 10:45Speaker 3: But I do think Sampson is one of two or
- 10:48Speaker 3: three backs on a loaded running back board. No one's
- 10:52Speaker 3: gonna be in. The running backs convinced everyone in Indy.
- 10:56Speaker 3: You're not gonna have to hurry to get one. They
- 10:58Speaker 3: stall the show. They weren't easily, and I mean easily,
- 11:03Speaker 3: the best position group that worked.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Out Dylan Samson out of Tennessee. Broncos wanted to talk
- 11:09Speaker 1: to Samson flying to the moonlight. Alice Crampton, All right, Leggy,
- 11:13Speaker 1: give us a name, A guy that you saw this
- 11:17Speaker 1: weekend that Jeff Legwald is putting the official Leggy stamp
- 11:22Speaker 1: on a guy that you're excited about right now.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Well, I already thought he was a really good player,
- 11:29Speaker 3: you know, a good player before I went there. But
- 11:31Speaker 3: the South Carolina safety that you know I've been going
- 11:35Speaker 3: to that thing for almost four decades now, that was
- 11:38Speaker 3: one of the most incredible. Again, you take the combine
- 11:42Speaker 3: for what it is. There was run on the most
- 11:44Speaker 3: incredible combine workouts I've ever seen, and no one talked
- 11:48Speaker 3: about it because he's a safety. Emin Waura, I always
- 11:52Speaker 3: say his name wrong, but it's spectacular. It's two hundred
- 11:57Speaker 3: and twenty pounds safety who ran four to three. I
- 12:01Speaker 3: mean it was I think he jumped forty three. I
- 12:04Speaker 3: mean it was ridiculous.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Jeff, this mock draft I'm looking at has got to
- 12:09Speaker 4: go into the Baltimore at twenty seven. Oh, you can't
- 12:12Speaker 4: do that.
- 12:13Speaker 3: No, he is absolutely the perfect Baltimore Ravens Sanson and
- 12:18Speaker 3: put him with Kyle Hamilton. I'm not even sure what
- 12:20Speaker 3: you're doing with that. But no iron then, Jeff, I'm sorry.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Could the Broncos consider him and.
- 12:28Speaker 3: They want to safety they need a safety. They're scouting
- 12:32Speaker 3: safety's hard. They'd like a you know, they'd like a
- 12:34Speaker 3: better tandem. I certainly consider him. That twenty is a
- 12:38Speaker 3: little high. But he was a good player. We're not
- 12:42Speaker 3: talking just the workout guy he was. He had four
- 12:45Speaker 3: picks this last year. This guy was a productive player
- 12:48Speaker 3: in the SEC on a South Carolina defense. The more
- 12:52Speaker 3: I look at it, the more I think that that
- 12:55Speaker 3: team's gonna be a problem in the SEC if anyone
- 12:57Speaker 3: cares about college football. But uh, now, that guy was
- 13:01Speaker 3: a good football player. And then when I just saw
- 13:04Speaker 3: the workout that he made, people go back from India
- 13:08Speaker 3: and say, we're better do a little more work on him.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And sure enough, there is a byline from Jefflegwald on
- 13:13Speaker 1: ESPN dot com. South Carolina's Nick Common worry wows with
- 13:17Speaker 1: NFL Combine workout. He is currently the number two safety
- 13:21Speaker 1: on Kuiper's Big Board and the number twenty seven pick
- 13:23Speaker 1: in his latest mock draft. Leggy, good stuff, man.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I'm gonna have a hard time not making them my
- 13:29Speaker 3: number one. Anyway.
- 13:32Speaker 1: He's climbing up the top one hundred right now, Leggy,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Thanks buddy, We appreciate it.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Thanks smelling all right Jeff.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Legwald, freshly back from Indianapolis. Jeff Legwald brought to you
- 13:43Speaker 1: by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW Local sixty eight.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Start with a job and with a career.
