- 3:26SPEAKER_00: What's our role in shaping the next generation?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And how can we live a life on purpose, even when it feels as though sometimes the clock is running out?

- 3:51SPEAKER_00: If you find yourself inspired by today's episode, share it with someone because the more we inspire each other, the more we are empowered to live life with purpose.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: So let's unite, let's be intentional about how we spend our moments and let's make every moment count.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: So grab a seat, take a deep breath, and let's get started.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Today, we're going to talk about lessons that we've learned in life.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: As a rule, uh, most of us look at life and we sometimes feel as though maybe we could have done something different, we could have done things better, we could have planned more wisely.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: And many people get caught in this vicious cycle of regret.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure if you've ever been there where you look back at the things that you did in your life, the moments that you missed in your life, and somehow you just feel as though life would have been different or better if you had done it in a different way.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Well, I want to challenge you with a thought that every single circumstance and every single moment of your life actually created the person that you are today.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: The experiences that you have had, those are the ones that actually shape you.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Those experiences are the ones that make you who you are.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And I want to uh just touch on a few thoughts before we um uh get to the close today.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Number one, we are at the beginning.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Today is Sunday, and we are at the beginning of a brand new week.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: This is the time that we want to plan for the future.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: This is the time we want to plan out what we want to accomplish this week.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Making a plan is probably one of the most critical and most crucial things that we could do.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: So taking a look back at the concept of having no regrets, I want to talk about failure because many of us have experienced failure, uh, failure uh to accomplish things, failure to um um complete things, failure to try new things, failure to um uh embark on uh passions and desires that were once held inside of us.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Uh the concept of failing is really one of those concepts that if you don't look at it the proper way, you will actually view your life failures as though those somehow were setbacks.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Um there are many instances.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm just reminded of a few things, uh uh failures that you experience in the natural, and they really have a big impact.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And some of the failures that you experience, um you linger with them in your mind for a long period of time.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: And I'll use one example.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: One day I was trying to be helpful and I wanted to help my wife.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Um we were tidying up around the house, and I said, you know what I'm gonna do?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna, since I'm in this uh uh area of the house, we were actually in the bathroom cleaning.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I said, I'm gonna clean the mirror because I can reach the higher part of the mirror, and uh she won't be able to reach that.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna clean that and she's gonna be shocked and it's gonna be great.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: And what I failed to do was get a fresh piece of uh uh uh paper towel or cloth, a fresh clean cloth.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: I actually used the one that I had already been using, wiping in other areas on the counter, and unbeknownst to me, there was a little bitty grain, almost like um I guess you could imagine the size of a small piece of sand.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: And so when I started cleaning, before I knew it, I was making circular motions, and it was the craziest thing because all of a sudden there were these little fine scrapes in the mirror.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And and so I rubbed it a little more, and the scrapes were even more pronounced.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: What in the world had I done?
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: This was a mirror that was pretty large, no way to replace it.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: You know how that is.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you're able to buy things in a season, but seasons are just that, they're seasons.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And and now what we bought in one season is now scarred up because of this grain of sand.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: And so it really bugged me for a long time.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And I would clean that mirror and clean that mirror, and eventually the the scrape marks kind of faded away.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: They faded away.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: But I would challenge you, because a lot of us have had those grains of sand, those moments where things didn't go right, those uh moments that some would call failure, and it's like this irritating piece of sand that we just can't seem to shake.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I would tell you that those moments and those experiences and that sand that seems so terrible is actually the same stuff that's used to make the pearl.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: So when um when when sand uh finds itself inside of the mouth of the oyster, the interesting thing about it is a secretion is secreted because of the irritating nature of the sand.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And this secretion just begins to uh really develop.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: I I actually looked it up and I and and and it really was uh pretty special, and I'm gonna read this to you so that you can actually hear it.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: But this irritant, it it enters the same uh the shell of the oyster, and there is a secretion called knacker in ACRE, and it actually uh begins this secretion, this extra mucus inside of the oyster's uh container.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And what happens is it moves around in layer upon layer because this irritant is there, this layer upon layer is developed.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And what actually happens, it forms the shape and the substance of what we call that treasured thing, the pearl.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: So the pearl is actually a result of an irritant, uh, a failure, a mistake, something that was done wrong at one point in life over time.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: This irritant actually develops a pearl.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: When I thought about it, I was really mindful of the fact that many of us, especially when you've reached this point in life where there are more years behind you than ahead of you, many of us are carrying pearls, pearls of wisdom, because the accidents, the mistakes, the missteps of the past actually created the wisdom of experience that is one of the most valuable things that we have as a generation of people to pass forward.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: You know, wisdom is so critical that it's important in every area of our lives.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: If we look at some of the things that we see going on around the world and our nation and some of our cities, wisdom is the issue.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: It is the absence of wisdom.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Wisdom tells you when we're frustrated, we don't destroy.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: When we're frustrated, we find solutions.
- 11:47SPEAKER_00: We become productive.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: In the presence of frustration, that is the mother of uh invention, necessity.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: There's something that needs to be done.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: It's creating so much frustration.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: Um, uh, it's so cold in the house.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: We don't become angry.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: We go and we then find a solution to turn the furnace on.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Um, that's what what wisdom teaches us.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Wisdom is that priceless commodity.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: It's just, it's there's no way to measure it.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And and actually, the Bible tells us that our wisdom is like pearls.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: And the Bible actually says that be careful who you share your wisdom with, because if they don't value the wisdom, then they'll just crush the pearls.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: But those pearls are pearls of a great price that we earned, that we've nurtured over years of experience, over years of tears, the secretions that actually created the layers of the pearl.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: So, with that being said, I want you to today, as we begin the start of a new week, I want you to embrace a couple of concepts.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: Number one is to recognize that you have potential greatness within you.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: The fact that you may not have accomplished your lifelong dream that you had when you were a teenager does not negate the fact that you are great in and of yourself.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Some of us that are watching, you are a great parent, you are a great mom, you are a great sister.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Think of the things this week that you were great at, not the things that you failed at or did not feel great.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: And you want to write those things down.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Remember, as we're on this journey, the journaling of the process is going to be critical to fully experiencing the transformation that will result as we go through this process.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: So recognize your potential greatness.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Focus this week on cultivating peace.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Be that person that your presence actually creates peace and calm.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: Your presence actually engenders confidence, that people feel confident when you arrive.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: Because this week you are arriving with the knowledge that within you you carry pearls of wisdom.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: This week, here's an action item that you can do so that you can live this thing on purpose.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Redesign an area.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: Find a space that's in your home, in your apartment, where you live, and just change something.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Because once you change that and you see how beautiful change is, it's going to open your mind to the fact that during this journey together, we are going to change.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: I believe that where you are today and where you'll be at the end of the journey, it's going to be amazing.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: There is a business that you were supposed to launch.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: There is a business that you were supposed to start or build.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: There is an organization that you are destined to become a part of.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: And when you see it, you'll recognize it.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: I'm going to challenge you that possibly there is a writing, there are poems that have been placed inside of you that have yet to be written.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: There's a story that's yet to be told.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: There's a difference that can only be made by you.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Actually, there are problems for which only you have the solution.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: So this week, find that space.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's going to be the dining room, that area that we've held sacred only for special occasions when someone visits.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: This week, have a meal in your dining room because I believe the king, I believe the queen is dining with you this week.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: And I challenge you to do that and experience the fact that you're worthy, that you are more than enough.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: You are not deficient in any area.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Areas where there is a deficit are only deficiencies when you don't know where they are.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: But in this journey, as we're exploring and thinking, all of the areas that we need to develop, we will begin to recognize them.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And finally, I'm going to ask that you start to build a library.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: So important, so important.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: A library will probably be one of the most beneficial things that you can have, especially in an age where people no longer value the power of books.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Books are critical.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Books actually are the stepping stones that help us get from point A to point B.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: Information that is gathered even on the internet is searched from books.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: They gather, if you look at all of the search engines, especially when you look at the AI-generated data, you notice that it's going through libraries.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: That is a reminder that libraries are important.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to challenge you to begin your library, if you haven't done it today, to begin it with a book.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Think of a book, and you choose that.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Because, of course, for me, I chose a book of faith.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: That was the foundation of my library.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And I was so glad to, for me, I was glad to be able to get my hands on a Bible.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: I had heard so many people quoting it and family members that swore by it.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: I had seen it on dining room tables, and I never knew the profound data, the information that was contained therein.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: And so that's where I started my library.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: So I'm going to challenge you to find a book, whatever book that is for you, find a book and let that be the start of your library.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: And as we're going through this journey, we're going to also take time to read.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: You are more than enough.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: Those things that you've gone through that did not break you, they did make you the person that you are today.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: You do have some valuable pearls of wisdom that need to be shared with others.
- 18:14SPEAKER_00: Moving forward, we need to walk as though we understand who we are, that we're fearfully and wonderfully made, uniquely designed, specifically to accomplish something.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And together, we're going to identify and uncover exactly what that accomplishment is supposed to be.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: What is the task?
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: What is the reason that we were actually placed on the planet?
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: And I believe once we find it, life is more full, life is more.
