Luke 2:25-35 - Simeon's Salvation Song
Here in chapter 2, Luke introduces us to a man name Simeon with “there was a man in Jerusalem”. Scripture does not tell us much about this man. We don’t know how old he was, even though most of the time when he is mentioned by Bible teachers, he is pictured as an old man. We don’t know what his occupation was, or if he was priest living near the temple. Luke’s information about Simeon most likely was given to him by Mary based on her memory of that day when she and Joseph took Jesus to the temple, and of course by the Holy Spirit’s inspiration.
