- 0:01Hey, y'all, welcome today's ship. Today we're continuing in our series on
- 0:05the authority and governance of the Church, the authority Jesus gave his Apostles,
- 0:09and the authority of the Apostles passed on to all they ordained, and the
- 0:15whole Apostolic succession up to the present day. First of all, I would
- 0:20be remiss if I did not point out this today is the Feast of the
- 0:23Assumption. It's a holy day. So if your parents celebrates it today,
- 0:28be sure to go to Mass. If not, go to Mass on Sunday.
- 0:32And my diocese it's it's Sunday. But still, this is a very
- 0:37holy day. And our Lord asked us to pray prayers to the Holy Face,
- 0:43the Litany of the Holy Face on Sundays and Holy days of obligation.
- 0:48He said that if we did so, if we pray the Golden Arrow prayer
- 0:52every day, if we venerate His Holy Face, it will help defeat communism,
- 0:57atheism, blasphemy and a nation of Sunday. Jesus Christ wants everyone to
- 1:04go church on Sunday. Again, y'all, Sundays the day when Christians go
- 1:10to church. And you know, I don't know why that's so hard to
- 1:15figure out. It's only been what people have done for two thousand years or
- 1:18so. And Jesus Christ revealed in the Revelations over his Holy Face. You
- 1:25can look this up that he wants us to honor Sunday. And it's been
- 1:30the message of many many saints, and many many visions of the Blessed Virgin
- 1:34Mary, and many many messages from angels. Christians go church on Sunday.
- 1:42So now let's get into Oh and if you don't know about the prayer to
- 1:46the Holy Face, just you know, google it. Like I said the
- 1:49other day, the Saint Martin's Association France runs the Confraternity the Holy Face of
- 1:55Jesus. Get in touch with them. They'll send you across with his Holy
- 1:59Face it. They'll send you a scapular, they'll send you all kinds of
- 2:01pamphlets and brochures for like you just pay like a bunk or two to cover
- 2:06shipping. I mean, it's incredible. You know, it's through the generosity
- 2:09of others who donate to them that they can send these out throughout the world.
- 2:13And then there's confraternities of the Holy Face in America. You can find
- 2:17websites In English. You can learn all about that in ten books. Has
- 2:21a great book called The Secret of the Holy Face of Jesus. Highly recommend.
- 2:25I'll tell you what, you obviously do not have to be Catholic to
- 2:30venerate the shroud of turin the Holy Face of Jesus. Look it up.
- 2:35I think every single Christian, and well, I guess even non Christians could
- 2:40venerate the face of Christ and that promise of stopping communism, which has killed
- 2:46two hundred million people plus, not to mention all the aborted babies in China
- 2:53and the liberalism that's killed millions of babies and just about destroyed AMR in the
- 3:00past one hundred years or so. We all need to participate in everything we
- 3:06can do to save this world from atheistic evil, from worshiping the state,
- 3:13from worshiping and institution of man, which is the ultimate goal of liberalism,
- 3:19socialism, communism, liberal democrats, progressivism, it's all fascism at the cores,
- 3:23you know, and atheism. Really, hopefully I don't have to convince
- 3:30y'all. I mean, my audience, if you've been listening to me,
- 3:32you know where I'm coming from on things political. But let's go away from
- 3:37politics. Now, let's get to what the Bible says about the authority and
- 3:40governance of the church. I hope I can get this all done in one
- 3:44show. But the Bible actually says a lot. The letters of the Apostle
- 3:49proves that the apostles prove that they and they alone had great authority over the
- 3:54earliest Christian church. Matthew ten one, He oh, in the Gospel.
- 4:00So I just said the letters. But the gospels, of course, So
- 4:02I'm starting with Matthew. Jesus said, is he summoned the twelve disciples and
- 4:08gave them authority of our unclean spirits, with power to drive them out and
- 4:12to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of illness. Matthew sixteen fifteen
- 4:16through nineteen. But you, he said, who do you say I am?
- 4:20Then Simon Peter spoke up and said, you are the Christ, the
- 4:24son of the Living God. Jesus replied, Simon, son of Jonah,
- 4:28you are a blessed man. Because it was no human agency that revealed this
- 4:31to you, but my Father in Heaven. So now I say to you,
- 4:34you are Peter, And upon this rock I would build my church and
- 4:38the gates of the underworld can never overpower it. I will give you the
- 4:41keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you bind on earth would be bound
- 4:44in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth would be loosed in heaven. Yes,
- 4:47Jesus built his church upon Saint Peter. In Aramaic, the word was
- 4:53Cephus. There is no confusion. The name, I guess I should say
- 4:57is Cephus, meaning the rock. There was absolutely no con usuon. He
- 5:00literally built his church upon Saint Peter and gave him his power, his authority,
- 5:10the power to bind and loose. You know, he really was not
- 5:15speaking metaphorically when he said to his apostles, if you have faith, you
- 5:19can move a mountain. Yeah, they probably could. They literally had the
- 5:24power to bind and loose, to forgive sins or retain them. When Saint
- 5:30Peter said to Annius, you know why have you lied to the Holy Spirit,
- 5:34the man dropped dead and then his wife dropped dead. I mean they
- 5:39had the full power and authority of God. And that is made very clear
- 5:45in the words of the Bible, and even clearer as we go on into
- 5:49the rights of the early Church. But if you read the Bible, in
- 5:54context, you can't really get it too wrong. I don't understand why anyone
- 5:59would even take issue with Saint Peter having the authority that Jesus clearly gave it
- 6:05to him. Jesus didn't say your faith. Jesus didn't say I'm a big
- 6:09rock and you're a little rock. That's what some people try to claim.
- 6:12Jesus said Simon barn Of, son of Jonah, sign of bar Jonah on
- 6:16Pine, you I build my church. You're the rock, and on this
- 6:23rock I build my church. I give you the power to bind and loose
- 6:29Matthew eighteen eighteen to twenty. In truth, I tell you, whatever you
- 6:32bind on earth will be bound in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth would
- 6:35be loose to heaven. In truth, I tell you once again, if
- 6:40two of you on earth agree to ask anything at all, it would be
- 6:43granted to you by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three of
- 6:46you meet in my name, I am there among them. You know who.
- 6:49Jesus said that too. The apostles people these days open the Bible and
- 6:55say, hey, wherever two Christians are gathered together, Jesus will do whatever
- 6:58they want. No, we don't have the authority to bind and loose that
- 7:04Jesus gave to his apostles Matthew nineteen twenty eight. Jesus said to them,
- 7:11I tell you in truth. I tell you, when everything is made new
- 7:14again, and the son of Manesseine on the throne of glory, you yourselves
- 7:18was sent on twelve thrones to judge the twelve tribes of Israel. That's not
- 7:24only evidence of the authority of the apostles, but of the role of saints
- 7:28in heaven Mark three thirteen through twenty nine. Now he went now up on
- 7:32the mountain and summoned those he wanted, those specific twelve. So they came
- 7:39to him, and he appointed twelve. They were to be his companions,
- 7:42to be sent out to proclaim the message, with the power to drive out
- 7:45devils. So he appointed the twelve Simon to whom the name he gave Peter
- 7:50James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James,
- 7:53who he gave the name. So trouble pronounced that Boa Nerd Sons of Thunder.
- 8:00We'll put it in the English Sons of Thunder. Andrew Philip Bartholomew,
- 8:05Matthew Thomas James, the son of Alphaeus thaddy As Simon the zealot, Judas
- 8:09Iscariot, the man who would betray him. How can Satan drive out Satan?
- 8:15If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot last. And
- 8:20if a household is divided against himself itself, that household cannot last. I
- 8:24tell in truth, I tell you all human sins would be forgiven, and
- 8:28all blasphemies ever uttered. But anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never
- 8:33be forgiven. But it is guilty of an eternal sin. So much to
- 8:37unpack there the authority given to the apostles, the fact that division, when
- 8:41in church is against God. With God's will, a house divide against itself
- 8:46cannot stand. Jesus founded one church his will that there was be one church,
- 8:52not ten to fifty thousand denominations, depending on what you believe, depending
- 8:58on how you count them. I guess I should say he prayed for unity.
- 9:01He prayed they all be of one mind. The apostles say to schisms
- 9:05within the church are crucifying Christ. Again, he said we should all be
- 9:09one body. He wants there to only be one church, one church,
- 9:16and it's up to you to figure out which that church is. Which church
- 9:18to me pretty clear, it's the one he founded, no one to which
- 9:22he gave his authority. But everyone has to figure that out through themselves,
- 9:26unfortunately, because God gives us free will, for better or for worse.
- 9:31And he also says, why one whose blasphems against the Holy Spirit would never
- 9:37be forgiven? A lot of Protestants say all sin is equal before God know
- 9:41they're actually venal and mortal sins. There are some sins that he says cry
- 9:46out to Heaven. There are some sins they said, we better if a
- 9:48millstone were tied around his neck and thrown into the ocean than for him to
- 9:52lead one of these little ones astray. I mean in this one, he
- 9:56said, a sin against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. You know
- 10:01that totally undermines the doctrine. I was taught at a Baptist university that said,
- 10:05God isn't legalistic. All sin is equal for God. Shoplifting is the
- 10:09same as murder. No, it's actually not okay, Well, shoplifting is
- 10:13actually a stealing, which is a mortal sin. But if it was a
- 10:18kid that picked up a pack of gum, you know, for twenty five
- 10:22cents or fifty cents or a dollar. That's a whole lot different someone robbing
- 10:24a bank. For the kid, that's a venial sin, and he needs
- 10:28to ask forgiveness and be counseled in the right way. For the grown adult
- 10:33who willfully goes in and holds up a liquor store or something, that's a
- 10:37mortal sin. That's, you know, about as plain as I can put
- 10:41it. Fooling around, Let's put it this way. At that same Baptist
- 10:50university, or very strict about boyfriends and girlfriends, you know, sex before
- 10:54marriage, fooling around whatever, and then they would turn a blind eye to
- 10:58divorce and adultery and homosexuality. Actually they would say all sin is equal,
- 11:05but they would actually kick out the heterosexuals for fooling around. Okay, that
- 11:09is so turned backwards and upside down. You know, teenagers, early twenty
- 11:16boyfriend and girlfriend driven by hormones, they're going to fall into temptation. Most
- 11:20are, most certainly are. It's very rare that doesn't happen, and that
- 11:26is a venal sin. Okay, they are tempted, and because of the
- 11:31way hormones are when you're younger, very hard to resist. Right, When
- 11:37someone has committed to a spouse and they cheat on them, that's the sin
- 11:43of adultery. That's a mortal sin. Again, homosexual sex can be venal
- 11:50if that person is in that same situation so tempted and they just can't control
- 11:54themselves and they know it's wrong. They admit it's wrong. They had one
- 12:00too many drinks and they just fell into it. They admit it's wrong,
- 12:03though, and they ask for forgiveness. That's venal if they say, no,
- 12:07I'm right. God is wrong, God's Church is wrong. That's actually
- 12:11a moral sin against the first commandment of you will have no other Gods before
- 12:16me. That's why it's actually far more sinful for heterosexuals to approve of gay
- 12:20marriage in opposition to what the Church teaches and what the Bible says, than
- 12:24it is for homosexuals engage in promiscuous sex to a point. To a point,
- 12:35like I said, it all depends on intent, and it all depends
- 12:39on the weakness of the person or the relative strength of the person. But
- 12:45I think you can understand to deny the teachings the truth of the God is
- 12:52a greater sin than falling into human temptation and weakness, and a lot of
- 13:01times, a lot of times these are young vulnerable people being taken advantage of
- 13:09by an older person who's exercising a great deal of influence over them. That's
- 13:13actually how a lot of homosexual relationships start out. They kind of groom and
- 13:20indoctrinate a younger vulnerable person. And in that case, the younger person has
- 13:26very little culpability. The older person has a great deal of culpability. And
- 13:31as Jesus said, anyone who leads one of those little ones astray, it
- 13:35would be better for him had he not been born. It would be better
- 13:37for him if he'd have a millstone thrown around his neck and was plunged into
- 13:41the ocean. That's a mortal sin. Mortal sins kill the soul, They
- 13:46kill the grace and the soul. Benial sins are lighter sins. They are
- 13:54forgiven through someone regretting what they did, and just yeah, it's best if
- 14:00you go to a priest. But even you know, people who don't have
- 14:03access to a priest. Their contrition God sees and for gifts, let's see
- 14:09Mark sixteen seventeen. But you must go and tell his disciples and Peter,
- 14:16he is going ahead of you to Galilee, and that's where you see him,
- 14:18just as he was told as he told you, Sorry, Peter again
- 14:22being shown as the head of the Disciples. The disciples and Peter, he
- 14:26had a totally different role. He was the Pope. They were bishops and
- 14:30cardinals, you know. Luke nine twelve. He gathered the twelve together and
- 14:35gave them the power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases. He
- 14:39sent them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal Luke ten one
- 14:43and sixteen through seventeen. After this, Lord appointed seventy two others and sent
- 14:48them out ahead of him in pairs to all the towns and places he himself
- 14:52would be visiting. Fathers Farago explained this yesterday in our show The Apostles.
- 14:58He sent out independently. He also had disciples that he sent before him.
- 15:03When he went into a town. There were different offices these, you know,
- 15:09He gave them different roles. Not everyone has the same office in the
- 15:16Kingdom of God. Some are officers, some are servants, you know,
- 15:20is it Saint Paul gets very much into this. Some have these gifts and
- 15:24some have these gifts, and some have these roles, not everyone. I
- 15:28know it's hard, especially in America, for us to admit that not everyone
- 15:33is equal. But not everyone is equal. Some are just given certain gifts
- 15:37and offices and responsibilities that others don't have. Anyone. Oh, and this
- 15:43was also from this Luke sixteen through seventeen. Anyone who listens to you listens
- 15:46to me. Anyone who rejects you rejects me. And those who reject me
- 15:50reject the one who sent me. That is ultimate authority. That's saying.
- 16:00Jesus gave two his apostles. In this case, he was including those seventy
- 16:04two disciples, because they came back rejoicing Lord. They said, even the
- 16:08devils submit to us when we use your name. He gave to his early
- 16:12church his authority, his authority which he said derived from the Father, and
- 16:18he gave the Holy Spirit to keep them from error. Luke twenty one thirty
- 16:22three. Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass
- 16:26away. Now, Martin Luther, for instance, said, well, maybe
- 16:30Saint Peter in the early Church did have this authority, but they went astray.
- 16:34Well, Jesus said that the forces of hell would never prevail against his
- 16:40church. He said that he would prevent them from error. He would keep
- 16:45them as so long as they followed his commandments, they would not They would
- 16:51speak with his voice, and they would be free from error. His words
- 16:53will never pass away. The Catholic Church is a shining city, punty hill,
- 17:00visible for all ages. It was there from the very moment Jesus said
- 17:04to Peter, you're the rocket. It will be there till he comes again,
- 17:08and it still has the same authority. Luke twenty two, twenty eight
- 17:12through thirty two, you are the man who stood by me faithfully in my
- 17:17trials. I now confer a kingdom on you, just as my father conferred
- 17:22one on me. There you go his kingdom. And they were officers in
- 17:27the kingdom. He conferred upon them that power, that authority, that responsibility.
- 17:34You will eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you
- 17:37will sit on thrones and judge the twelve tribes of Israel. Simon, Simon
- 17:45look Satan has got his wish to sift you all like wheat. But I
- 17:48have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith might not fail. And
- 17:51once you have recovered, you must in turn strengthen your brothers. That's Simon,
- 17:56son of Jonah, Simon Barjonah. That's Peter. Okay, once again,
- 18:00Saint Peter was put in charge of all the apostles. Look twenty four
- 18:10forty nine, and now I'm sending you what the Father has promised. Stay
- 18:14in the city then until you're clothed with power from on high. That would
- 18:18be Pentecost. That's when the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles and they were
- 18:23given powers beyond the imagination of humans, all knowledge of all things, the
- 18:32ability to speak in all languages, the ability to heal, just powers beyond
- 18:37belief, the actual power of God to bind and loose, to change physical
- 18:44bread and wine into the spiritual body and blood of Jesus. The ability to
- 18:49forgive sense pretty amazing, pretty amazing. And that's what God gave to his
- 18:56apostles. That's what is the the foundation of the church. This was secures
- 19:02the Church in all truth, the fullness of truth, and no other church
- 19:06or force on earth can claim it. John one forty two. One of
- 19:14those who became followers of Jesus after hearing what John had said was Andrew,
- 19:18the brother of Simon Peter, the first thing Andrew Jews did was to find
- 19:22his brother and say we have found the Messiah, which means to Christ.
- 19:25And he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, Simon's
- 19:29son of John, you are to be called Cephus, which means Rock John
- 19:37ten one through two. In all truth, I tell you, anyone who
- 19:40does not enter the sheep fold through the gate, but climbs in some other
- 19:44way as a thief and a bandit, he enters through the great gait as
- 19:47a shepherd of the flock. That should be a very strong warning to anyone
- 19:52who preaches a different gospel than that of the Apostles, a different doctrine beyond
- 19:56the gospel, a different doctrine. Any again, Martin Luther, King Henry,
- 20:03with the Anglican Church, all these fifty thousand denominations, they didn't enter
- 20:08through the sheepfold. They don't have the Apostolic succession in a sense. While
- 20:17people in all denominations may have a great faith and belief in God, and
- 20:22God will deal with him individually. He who enters through the gate is a
- 20:26shepherd of the flock. He who enters in another way as a thief and
- 20:30a bandit. Think about all the millions of people who have been taken from
- 20:34the Catholic Church through the apostasy and heresy of Martin Luther John fifteen four through
- 20:44six. Remain in me as I and you remain in Him as I and
- 20:51you. Again, we're talking unity. We're talking cohesive, one mind and
- 20:56one faith and one church. As a bread cannot bear fruit all by itself
- 21:02unless it remains a part of the vine. Neither can you unless you remain
- 21:04in me. I am the vine, and you are the branches. Whoever
- 21:07remains in me, whoever remains in me within him, with me in him,
- 21:15There we go bear's fruit in plenty. For cut off from me,
- 21:18you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away
- 21:22like a branch and withers. These branches are collected and thrown into the fire
- 21:26and are burnt. If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
- 21:30you may ask whatever you please, and you will get. It is
- 21:33the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and be my disciples.
- 21:37I have loved you just as the fathers love me. Remain in my
- 21:41love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
- 21:44just as I have kept my father's commandments and remain his love. You did
- 21:48not choose me, No, I chose you. And I commission you to
- 21:52go out and bear fruit, so that fruit will last. So the Father
- 21:55will give you anything you ask him in my name. How many times if
- 21:59you that in a Protestant church, as if Jesus was talking to you,
- 22:03Jesus wasn't talking to you. Jesus was talking to his twelve apostles. And
- 22:10unless a church remains in the authority of those twelve apostles, it has by
- 22:17definition broken itself off through a schism. It is a broken branch from the
- 22:23vine established by Jesus John sixteen twelve through twenty five. I still have many
- 22:36things to say to you, but it would be too much for you to
- 22:38bear now. However, when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead
- 22:41you to complete truth, since he will not be speaking of his own accord,
- 22:45but will say only what he has been told, and he will reveal
- 22:48to you the things to come. I have been telling you these things in
- 22:52veiled language. The hour is coming when I should no longer speak to you
- 22:55in a veiled language, but tell you about the Father in plain words.
- 22:59Now this isn't reported because today is the feast of the assumptions. When Jesus
- 23:03went up to heaven after the resurrection, he spent forty days with the apostles,
- 23:10teaching them as he just said he would. Plainly, more than likely,
- 23:15he told him about everything under heaven and earth, and how they were
- 23:18to govern the church, how the entire church was to be organized, what
- 23:22the sacraments were all about, how they were to be performed. And none
- 23:27of that's written down in the Bible. There's a big gap of silence.
- 23:33That is one of the reasons why the authority of the Catholic Church is not
- 23:40merely the Bible. The full teachings of Christ are not in the Bible.
- 23:45In fact, the Bible says that if everything Jesus said and did were written
- 23:48down, they'd feel all more books are in the entire earth, right,
- 23:52it said, what is written down in these gospels is just so that you
- 23:56might believe. Well, you have to believe in Jesus and his church.
- 23:59And then we have the oral tradition of the Church, which is also written
- 24:03down, but over the centuries after the close of the Bible, which is
- 24:07absolutely as authoritative and binding as what's written in the Bible. Think about it.
- 24:15For forty days Jesus was telling them answering every question, every question about
- 24:21life, death, the afterlife, heaven, earth, hell, everything.
- 24:26And it's not in the Bible where you're going to go to find it.
- 24:29You're gonna have to go to the writings of the early Church fathers, and
- 24:33in part you're going to find him there. But you're going to find the
- 24:36full authority and teaching authority of the Catholic Church throughout the history of the Church.
- 24:44You'll find it in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which is just
- 24:48as authoritative and binding as the words of the Bible, and often a lot
- 24:55easier to understand to really, I mean seriously, just think about how many
- 24:59people come up with different interpretations of the Book of Daniel, Revelations, etc.
- 25:04It's not that mysterious once you have someone to explain it to you.
- 25:10And yes, the Bible does actually say how can I understand if I have
- 25:14no one to explain it to me? That's what the eunuch said. That
- 25:18is important. You have to have a guide. You cannot rely on your
- 25:22own personal interpretation of the Bible. If there's only one truth, right,
- 25:26there's only one truth. And if fifty thousand denominations teach entirely different things,
- 25:33only one can be right. But all of them claim to be guided by
- 25:37the Holy Spirit. Only one of them actually has the guarantee to be prevented
- 25:41from error by the Holy Spirit. And that's the Church funded by Jesus Christ.
- 25:45And speaking of unity, John seventeen seventeen through twenty three and twenty six.
- 25:52Consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you've sent
- 25:56me into the world, I have sent them into the world, and for
- 25:59their sake I create myself, so that they too may be concentrated and consecrated
- 26:03in truth. I pray not only for these, but for those through their
- 26:07teachings, will come to believe in Me again evidence of Apostolic succession. May
- 26:12they all be one, just as Father, you are in me and I
- 26:17am in you, so that they may also be in us, so that
- 26:21the world may believe it was you who sent me. I have given them
- 26:23the glory you gave me, that they may be one as we are one.
- 26:29We are in them and you are in me. May they be so
- 26:32perfected in unity that the world will recognize that it was you who sent me,
- 26:37and that you have loved them as you have loved me. I have
- 26:41made your name known to them, and will continue to make it known,
- 26:44so that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and
- 26:48so that I may be in them. One church, one body, one
- 26:52accord, guaranteed by Jesus, because God cannot lie. Well. I just
- 27:00mentioned how the Bible says that not everything Jesus said and did was written down
- 27:07John twenty thirty one. There were many other signs that Jesus worked in the
- 27:11sight of the disciples, but they were not recorded in this book. These
- 27:15are recorded so that you may believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
- 27:19and that believing this, you may have life through his name. The
- 27:22Bible does not contain the fullness of the truth. Only the Catholic Church does.
- 27:27The Bible is a big part of it. It's like half of it,
- 27:32but it's only half of it. If you want to know the truth
- 27:36meaning of many doctrines and theological concepts, you're not going to find it outside
- 27:41of the Catholic Church. John one fifteen through twenty five. When they had
- 27:47eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do
- 27:49you love me more than these others? Do? He answered yes, Lord,
- 27:52you know I love you. Jesus said to him, feed my lambs.
- 27:56A second time, he said to him, Simon, son of John,
- 27:59do you love me? He replied yes, Lord, you know I
- 28:02love you. Jesus said to him, look after my sheep. Then he
- 28:04said to him a third time, Simon, son of John, do you
- 28:07love me. Peter was hurt that he asked him a third time do you
- 28:11love me? And he said, Lord, you know everything you know?
- 28:15I love you. Jesus said, feed my sheep, and all truth I
- 28:18tell you. When you were young, you put on your own belt and
- 28:21walked where you like. But when you are old, you will stretch out
- 28:23your hands and someone else will put her belt around you and take you where
- 28:27you would rather not go. In these words, he indicated the kind of
- 28:32death which Peter would give glory to God. Peter, it was a martyr.
- 28:34After this, he said, follow me. Peter turned and saw the
- 28:37disciples disciple whom Jesus loved, following them. The one who had leaned back
- 28:44leant back, leaned back on his chest to the supper and said to him,
- 28:48Lord, who is it that will betray you? Seeing him, Peter
- 28:51said to Jesus, what about him? Lord? Jesus answered, if you
- 28:53want him to stay behind till I come, what does it matter to you?
- 28:57You were to follow me. The rumor then went out among the brothers
- 29:03that the disciple would not die. Yet Jesus had not said he will not
- 29:06die, but rather, if you want, if I want him to say
- 29:08behind until all I come. This disciple was the one who vouches for these
- 29:12things, that has written them down, and we know that his testimony is
- 29:15true. There's much else that Jesus did. If it were written down in
- 29:18detail. I do not suppose the world itself would hold all the books that
- 29:22would be written. Again, Jesus did give different authorities to different people,
- 29:32and to Peter he gave the primary role. Let me see what time it
- 29:36is here. Oh, well, we're actually at thirty minutes and we've only
- 29:41gotten through the gospels. So I guess I'm going to have to say the
- 29:45acts for tomorrow because there's actually I'm not even sure if I'm halfway through biblical
- 29:52passages that talk about the authority Jesus gave to the apostles and his church,
- 29:59I should say, I guess through them to his church, and there's a
- 30:03lot to unpack. There's a lot to unpack. We're gonna spend some time
- 30:08on this, and I hope you find as interesting as I do. You
- 30:11know, I grew up with the Bible. I grew up reading the Bible.
- 30:15I grew up reading the Bible cover to cover every year. I mean
- 30:18I did that for like twenty years, you know, And never in a
- 30:22Protestant church was I was my attention drawn to such passages of these In fact,
- 30:29a lot of them were skipped over. I'll never forget the day I
- 30:32found in the Bible where Jesus said, those who sends you forgive or forgiven,
- 30:37and those who sends you retain or retain. I had never heard anyone
- 30:41preach on that passage in any Protestant church I had ever been on end of
- 30:45my entire life. And that's kind of when I realized they were probably leaving
- 30:49it out on purpose, kind of hiding such things. As I've said many
- 30:56times, the Bibles what led me to the Catholic Church. And I think
- 31:00it's very important that Catholics be not only more biblically literate. Some Catholics are
- 31:04very biblically literate, but to know how to speak about the versus, the
- 31:11passages of the Bible, the meaning of these words in a way that both
- 31:15Catholics and Protestants can understand, so that we can bring the Body of Christ
- 31:19back into unity, getting rid of all schism which was preached against so vehemently
- 31:26in the Bible, that we can all be one, and house against itself
- 31:33cannot stand right. Once we are all one, the devil has no foothold.
- 31:38I mean that will be battle, will be heaven on earth when we're
- 31:45all one, when we're all of one mind, one accord, when all
- 31:49the Christian churches have come back together. The cameras Fatima Fatimah Medic Gorgy,
- 31:56I think it was Fatimah. The Blessed Ja Mary said that even the Muslims
- 32:00would convert to Christianity, the Jews would convert to Christianity, and that is
- 32:07when the Kingdom of God will come. That is when the end of the
- 32:13world will come. Until we can all be one, We're going to continue
- 32:20struggling and suffering through the division which is owned by Satan in the evils and
- 32:24the horrors that are going on in this world, the wars, the sicknesses,
- 32:30the death. It's really up to us to make that happen. That
- 32:37is the church militant. That is what Jesus called us to do. I
- 32:42mean, it says, you know, preach the Gospel to all lands,
- 32:44to all people's. Well, it's actually bringing everyone into that unity that Jesus
- 32:50prayed today in the gospels. And yeah, it's each of our individual responsibility.
- 32:57It literally begins with us. And it doesn't mean turning a blind eye
- 33:02to differences and divisions to sin. Certainly, there's a whole lot of Christians
- 33:07so called out there that are promoting gay marriage these days and trying to normalize
- 33:13homosexuality. No, you absolutely have to say that's not right, that is
- 33:21sin, and we have to reject it. But we have to bring those
- 33:23people as well into a loving family that is united. And it's only going
- 33:30to happen. It's only going to happen if we put the effort into it
- 33:37and do those uncomfortable things. And it doesn't start with going and telling someone
- 33:40else where they're wrong. It starts with learning all you can and doing your
- 33:45best to be better. The holier you become the greater, your influence is
- 33:52going to be on those around you. I mean, you think of the
- 33:55examples of the martyrs, how many people Jews and Romans and Greeks were converted
- 34:02seeing the Christians just walk up and say, yes, I'm willing to die
- 34:07for God. I will not bow my need to a pagan God. I
- 34:13will not keep Jewish law and tradition anymore. You know, that's why the
- 34:19Jews were killing the Christians, because Christianity and Judaism is actually a different religion.
- 34:27That's the whole reason Saint Paul, you know, would killed the Cloaks
- 34:31while they stoned Sat Stephen to death. That Christian religion was a new religion.
- 34:36And in the first couple hundred years they converted almost half the Jews to
- 34:40become Christian, and within what three hundred years later, they would convert all
- 34:47of Rome and from there, through the spread of the Holy Roman Empire over
- 34:53the next few centuries, all of Europe, and then into Asia and Africa,
- 34:59and eventually come into the Americas. And yeah, eventually, according to
- 35:07the Blessed Mother and according to the words of the Bible and the words of
- 35:10Jesus Christ himself, we will all be one, and at that time there'll
- 35:16be an end to death and strife and division and war and hatred and everything.
- 35:22The devil will be defeated. And that's really what we're all called to
- 35:27work toward, you know. I mean, he said, if you have
- 35:30a problem with with your brother or your neighbor, someone in your family or
- 35:35not your family, don't even approach the altar until you've settled it. It's
- 35:39unity, schism, division, confusion is always from the devil. Unity,
- 35:46order and peace is always from God. Love your neighbor as yourself, and
- 35:52love God with all your heart. I got that backwards, but you know,
- 35:55love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. You
- 35:59have I mean, that's the mission of a Christian. So y'all will get
- 36:02more into the acts of the Apostles and the letters Saint of Saint Paul and
- 36:07you know, Saint Peter and all those books tomorrow, and I do.
- 36:14I'm not sure. Maybe I can wrap it up tomorrow. It may go
- 36:15two more days. I don't know, but this is so important. I
- 36:19do think we need to spend some time on this. So last note is
- 36:22I did the Gospel reflection from missy O Day today. It's for you sention
- 36:28Thursday, and you'll find I think you'll find it very interesting. Please go
- 36:34to missy O Day's subtack page and check that out. And I hope you
- 36:40enjoy it. I hope it gives you a little insight and uh, you
- 36:45know a little bit of hope. And let'sen with the words of Saint Padre
- 36:49Pio, pray hope and don't worry. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
