- 0:00Welcome to Raising the Curve, a podcast designed to teach you everything you need to know
- 0:05to be better with your money.
- 0:07And the wise words of Amy Schumer were slipping carrots into the brownie recipe.
- 0:11I don't really get the saying.
- 0:14It's kind of like eating vegetables that actually taste good.
- 0:17You know, I'm like, still not ready to eat.
- 0:19Are you on the script?
- 0:20It's basically like saying, investing in finance can be boring, but it totally doesn't
- 0:26need to be.
- 0:27Okay, okay.
- 0:29So we're making it fun by putting the carrot.
- 0:32Okay, the vegetables are just good for you.
- 0:34It's the brownie recipe.
- 0:35Okay, we got there.
- 0:36We got there.
- 0:37Okay.
- 0:38Well, you've really got to finance me.
- 0:39Yeah.
- 0:40One of us has to.
- 0:41This is a joke.
- 0:42Okay.
- 0:43Come and learn alongside me from Vick Harris, ex-fun manager where I'm going to ask all
- 0:47the questions that you wish you could.
- 0:49And I'm going to be eating all the brownie you wish you could.
- 0:51No, it's so not the joke, Vick.
- 0:54Okay, just come and talk and learn and laugh with us because together we really
- 0:58can raise the curve.
- 1:01So we put a little poll.
- 1:03I love a little poll.
- 1:04Yeah, put a poll out on our socials recently about whether we should release
- 1:08this episode.
- 1:09And it was contentious within the curve team, wasn't it?
- 1:12Yes.
- 1:13So we did this interview a couple of months ago.
- 1:15We had it.
- 1:16We've been like sort of sitting on it for a while.
- 1:18Not really sure what to do with it.
- 1:20It was a super interesting conversation and something that we kind of took us
- 1:24off guard.
- 1:25We didn't really know what to expect when we went into this interview.
- 1:29It was just wild the things that she was saying about the things that was so
- 1:34deep in her tradition when it came to money.
- 1:37I think I went in with one view and kind of came up with another.
- 1:41Yeah, it was quite educational for us as well.
- 1:45I mean, mostly you're an echo chamber of your own environment and the people you spend
- 1:49time with, right?
- 1:50And I've never been to Dubai.
- 1:52I don't know much about different cultures when it comes to the way that they relate to
- 1:57money and also dynamics within traditional marriages and partnerships.
- 2:02And so I think speaking to her and I mean, she's so happy with her situation.
- 2:07It's not as though she's sitting there complaining.
- 2:10She's really, this is a meaningful happy life for her and who will be to judge just because
- 2:15it's different to what we know.
- 2:16Yes.
- 2:17And at the same time, normally, if we heard someone relying so heavily on a partner
- 2:22financially, we'd be like, hey, oh, this feels problematic.
- 2:27And there was definitely times in the podcast where I was angry or like couldn't understand
- 2:33but was trying to.
- 2:35And then it wasn't until reflection and then actually speaking to her more and her almost
- 2:40explaining her situation and how she and her partner view money and how their religion views
- 2:48money and deals with money.
- 2:49It was, yeah, it was definitely, I came away being like, oh, okay, I kind of get it now.
- 2:54And it also made me think how fascinating it would be to speak to people of all from
- 2:59all different cultural backgrounds because I mean, for me, neither of my parents were religious
- 3:06and I didn't have much diversity with the way that money was related to or talked about.
- 3:13So it's a conversation we haven't really had either in terms of how religion and money is intertwined.
- 3:18Yeah.
- 3:19So the person that we are going to introduce you to today after the poll said yes, I don't think
- 3:25there was one person who said don't release the episodes of it.
- 3:27We were like, okay, we're going to have to do this.
- 3:29So we're going to introduce you to Linda Andreid.
- 3:33She's a 23 year old born in Dubai, but she spends quite a bit of her time in America and sort
- 3:40of traveling around the world.
- 3:42The reason that she became quite famous and while no one on tech talks specifically was
- 3:47because she showcases what she spends in a day and it was wild.
- 3:51An absurd amount of money on things that you just kind of couldn't even imagine having that
- 3:55much disposable income.
- 3:56So it's things like Chanel bags, she would spend, you know, $7,000 in a day.
- 4:01She would spend 80 US dollars on a latte sprinkled with gold.
- 4:06Like the extravagance was just wild.
- 4:09Yeah.
- 4:10And I kind of didn't think that you could spend that much in a day.
- 4:12Yeah, she has.
- 4:13So first you name it.
- 4:14Yeah.
- 4:15And yeah.
- 4:16So we just basically wanted to ask her, how do you have so much money?
- 4:19How do you think about spending do you ever feel guilty that kind of thing?
- 4:22And it sort of spiraled into a conversation we weren't expecting.
- 4:25So you hope that you enjoy it.
- 4:28We hope that you learn something.
- 4:30And I hope you listen with an open mind.
- 4:32Yeah.
- 4:33Yeah.
- 4:34So yeah, let us know how you find the episode.
- 4:36And without further ado, we will introduce you to the billionaire's wife.
- 4:42Okay.
- 4:43Linda, we would love to talk to you about your spending habits.
- 4:46Can you talk to us about how much you spend in a day?
- 4:50Do you track your spending?
- 4:52Are you aware of what you spend money on?
- 4:54Because we've seen online that you obviously invest.
- 4:57You're also a business woman.
- 4:59Well, you were a business woman.
- 5:01So we're kind of curious to know if what you're spending money on is conscious.
- 5:05And you're aware of what you're doing.
- 5:07Or if it's like there's so much money that you aren't worried.
- 5:10We kind of just want to understand what's going on.
- 5:13Because we were like out of so many of that much money.
- 5:15And also just yeah, give us a rundown.
- 5:18Yeah.
- 5:19Of course.
- 5:20Quickly, let me say.
- 5:21So all of the amount you see online that's in Durham's not dollars.
- 5:25So let's say I spent like 20,000 terms.
- 5:29That's $7,000.
- 5:31So that's like a Chanel bag, for example.
- 5:33Is that Dubai currency?
- 5:34Yeah.
- 5:35That's Dubai currency.
- 5:36And all of my shopping contents always in Dubai.
- 5:39I only shop there.
- 5:40It's the best.
- 5:41But yes, I do know that I'm a really bad spender.
- 5:45I like to think it motivates my husband to work harder though.
- 5:48So we'll see if that works.
- 5:50Because he looks in crypto, right?
- 5:52He works in Forex.
- 5:53He owns like eight different businesses.
- 5:55Yeah.
- 5:56But when I do go crazy spending like that, it's not usually every day.
- 6:00So how it works is that I get a percentage of my husband's income.
- 6:04And I can use that for spending, saving whatever I want.
- 6:07So it'll be like one or two days out of the month where I'll just go crazy.
- 6:11He'll do it with me though.
- 6:12He's a big spender too.
- 6:13And that's why I love him.
- 6:15I love Chanel, you know, things like that.
- 6:18Gold coffee.
- 6:19So good.
- 6:20How much is that coffee?
- 6:21It's $80.
- 6:22A mere $100.
- 6:23It's fully covered in gold.
- 6:25I don't know if it's worth $80.
- 6:27It's probably not worth $80.
- 6:28Oh my gosh.
- 6:29It's an Abu Dhabi.
- 6:31I don't live in Abu Dhabi.
- 6:32So I go there once every like month or so.
- 6:34And then when I go, of course, I have to get it.
- 6:37Because every time I get it and I post it, it goes viral.
- 6:40And I'm like, okay.
- 6:41Yeah, okay.
- 6:42Okay.
- 6:43I do want to follow this.
- 6:44I wanted to just backtrack to the fact that you get a percentage of your husband's income.
- 6:52On doing some research, you obviously have created your own businesses
- 6:56and are very successful yourself.
- 6:59So I'm just intrigued to know.
- 7:03Because online you refer to yourself as the millionaires wife.
- 7:06But you're also kind of a self-made millionaire, aren't you?
- 7:09Yeah, that is true.
- 7:10And I don't post about that because people don't care about that.
- 7:13I've noticed.
- 7:14And my TikTok at this point is like going to escape for me and then for people watching.
- 7:19It's like, wow.
- 7:20But yeah, I did build my own business.
- 7:22It was a med spa.
- 7:23That was where I started that when I was 19 years old.
- 7:25And I want to expand that to Dubai now as well.
- 7:27Because it's in Los Angeles.
- 7:29And my TikTok also is now kind of a career for me as well.
- 7:32But so how does it work in terms of spending?
- 7:34So you've obviously been very successful.
- 7:37Yeah.
- 7:38So as your husband.
- 7:39And by the way, did you guys meet when he was 16 and doing the dishes in a cafe or something?
- 7:45Yeah, when I met him, he wasn't rich.
- 7:47So I was 16.
- 7:48He was 19.
- 7:49He was working as a dishwasher.
- 7:52And we got engaged when I was 18, married at 19.
- 7:56Was he wealthy at that point when you got married?
- 7:59A little bit, but not like now.
- 8:01No, we've reached our success during our marriage.
- 8:04For that reason, I have three different rings because he upgraded me.
- 8:08Because when he proposed, it was like not that expensive.
- 8:11And then now it's upgrades.
- 8:13Are you wearing Wall Street right now?
- 8:15No, I'm not.
- 8:16I'm wearing Wall Street.
- 8:17But he said this is my last one, so I'm a little sad.
- 8:20We allowed to ask how much it was.
- 8:22$40,000.
- 8:23How much is it US?
- 8:25$40,000.
- 8:26So in terms, it would be like $120,000.
- 8:29So can we backtrack?
- 8:31So you've been a self-made millionaire.
- 8:33You have had amazing career.
- 8:35Very young.
- 8:37How does it work now in terms of finances?
- 8:39Does he give you an allowance?
- 8:41You have shared combined money?
- 8:43How does that?
- 8:44How does that work?
- 8:45Yeah, so every month I get 10% of his income for the month before.
- 8:50And that's used for like my allowance.
- 8:52And then aside from that, if there's like a really big purchase I want to make,
- 8:56let's say a new diamond necklace.
- 8:58I'll just say like, hey, Ricky, I want this necklace.
- 9:01What do you think?
- 9:02He'll give me his opinion if he likes it or not.
- 9:04And then he'll just buy it for me.
- 9:06So my day-to-day spending is the 10%.
- 9:09And like my shopping sprays is the 10%.
- 9:11But then anything bigger than that, you know, we do it together.
- 9:15So would that be things like apartments and basement properties?
- 9:18Yeah.
- 9:19We did end up buying two apartments in Dubai and that was together.
- 9:23I went by myself for one of them.
- 9:25That's the one I posted.
- 9:26I got an apartment.
- 9:27Hopefully my husband's not mad.
- 9:28Do you ever find it frustrating sometimes when you have to like ask almost permission
- 9:35to spend money or you obviously have a very loving relationship?
- 9:38But do you ever feel I guess disempowered or reliant on him or depended on him in a financial sense?
- 9:45I don't feel that way.
- 9:47And that's why the 10% exists is so that's a no-judgment spending.
- 9:51So anything that he puts in my account, that's up to me completely.
- 9:55And aside from that, I'm not scared of like if he ever left to me,
- 9:59would I be left penniless?
- 10:01Because, well, one, I think he's a good man.
- 10:04But two, we didn't have a prenup when we got married and we got married in America.
- 10:08So if he did leave me, that would suck for him, not for me.
- 10:12But yeah, it's, I don't feel like scared or anything.
- 10:15I am dependent on him, but I think he likes that.
- 10:18Like not in a mean way, just like he likes to take care of me.
- 10:21If I didn't feel safe, I don't think I would depend on him.
- 10:24And I would look for my own money.
- 10:26Well, it also seems like you have a very smart brain and passion and drive.
- 10:31You know, you'd be easy able to create businesses again that are generating money.
- 10:35And you know, you seem very entrepreneurial in that sense.
- 10:38Yeah. And he's opening me up my business and Dubai as well.
- 10:41So he's spending the money and a safe way for me too.
- 10:44What would you say is the most elaborate thing that you've bought?
- 10:48I've got two questions. That's the first one.
- 10:50The second one is, have you ever had a big spined and felt regretful of it?
- 10:55So one of the apartments we did buy, that is for both answers, it is the most elaborate.
- 11:00I regretted it after because I kind of bought it in a bad area.
- 11:03And it wasn't cheap either.
- 11:05So I was a little bit annoyed about that.
- 11:07How much was it? Do you buy me asking?
- 11:09Oh, it was 2.1 million.
- 11:11It's not even ready yet. It's going to be ready in 2026.
- 11:15That's useless.
- 11:16What did you buy if it was an investment property?
- 11:18Yeah, investment property for Airbnb slash living in it.
- 11:21It's a Dubai.
- 11:22There are a couple of business class flights that I miss.
- 11:25That kind of hurts.
- 11:27Like I completely missed it.
- 11:29Yeah, do you ever, I guess, spend money and feel guilty after you've spent it?
- 11:35Do you ever reach a point where you're spending money but it's not given you the satisfaction you thought
- 11:42or you're not feeling happy after spending it?
- 11:45Sometimes I will spend a lot of money and it doesn't bring me that satisfaction.
- 11:50And then I'm like, I feel bad about it.
- 11:52My husband, on the other hand, never feels bad about spending money.
- 11:56So then he'll just comfort me and he'll tell me the point of making money is to spend it.
- 12:00And then we can make more money or something like that.
- 12:03But then just watch what you're spending on in the future.
- 12:06Make sure you actually love it.
- 12:08If you love it, get it.
- 12:10If you're just buying it just to buy it, think about that.
- 12:13And do you, apart from the investment properties, do you invest in stocks or cryptocurrencies or any other assets
- 12:21or do you have a portfolio that you have put money into, you or your husband?
- 12:26Yeah, I have my own personal portfolio where I invest money and then my husband does that as his whole career.
- 12:31So he has like a way bigger portfolio and then I have my own little one that I manage.
- 12:36But my favorite type of investing is in like real businesses and like people and interacting
- 12:42and so many questions.
- 12:45I'm like, are you even scared that the money is going to run out?
- 12:48Yeah.
- 12:49Like do you ever feel like that?
- 12:51No, because so for example, the only bag that I would spend a lot of money on is Chanel or Hermes
- 12:56and those are investment pieces.
- 12:58So my black Chanel, I bought it for 6,000 seven years ago and now I could sell it for 10 if I wanted.
- 13:04Is there how much that they grow and value it?
- 13:06Yeah, how good a care do you have to take of it though?
- 13:09More care than you take with clothes.
- 13:11And handbags.
- 13:12So everything that I own, I know like God forbid I could sell it if I needed to.
- 13:18Yeah, so I guess you're buying quality, luxury items.
- 13:21Oh, and I've done that before.
- 13:23I was like, I had a couple of Chanel bags, I was bored of, I sold it, got my money back.
- 13:27Perfect, it's all good.
- 13:28And now I can pay for another latte.
- 13:30Yeah, exactly.
- 13:32Now that's not an investment, that's a stupid expense.
- 13:36But the way it makes up for it is that I go viral every time and that's why I justify it.
- 13:41So you can give most of your purchases, jewelry, property, etc.
- 13:46All the presents that your husband gives you as investments, rather than just frivolous things,
- 13:51that you actually cleverly buy stuff.
- 13:54Me personally, yes, I do know girls who don't cleverly buy things and they will go by like,
- 14:00not to hate on the brand, Louis Vuitton, they'll buy 10 Louis Vuitton bags
- 14:04instead of like one Chanel and then, I don't know if that goes up in value.
- 14:08And then you just kind of butter back, you know.
- 14:11I think the moral of the story here is you don't have to invest your money in typical assets like stocks,
- 14:17crypto, property, you know, invest in what tickles your fancy like Chanel bags,
- 14:22jewelry as long as it goes up in value, you are investing.
- 14:26Exactly, in a fun way.
- 14:28Can we talk about the trolls on social media because let's be honest, there's going to be a shit load of them.
- 14:33I don't know if you read them or not, I personally try and avoid scary social media comments.
- 14:38However, there will be a lot of people who see your content and think,
- 14:42what, all comment nasty things.
- 14:45How do you deal with that, respond, etc.?
- 14:48I honestly never check my comments because I used to and it would actually get to me
- 14:53because not only are they attacking like my life and my relationship,
- 14:57but they're attacking me.
- 14:59I don't know, I think I was weaker back then.
- 15:01I would probably be able to handle it more now.
- 15:03But yeah, it's like a lot of stuff about how, you know,
- 15:06how leave me for the newer model or, you know, I'm useless, things like that
- 15:11or like I'm too ugly to be within.
- 15:14I just don't read my comments anymore.
- 15:16But lately, there have been more supportive comments now because I think I'm starting to find my people
- 15:22where people are looking at it as a way of,
- 15:25fun to watch, rather than like angry to watch, comments are brittle.
- 15:29But another thing is like, like you said, I have built things myself
- 15:33and I did meet him like before he was even rich that I know myself
- 15:38that I'm not useless or going to be left, you know?
- 15:42Like I know the truth.
- 15:43If you're being completely honest and we wish a rewind until,
- 15:48well hold on, you're 23 now, right?
- 15:50I'm 24 now.
- 15:51So if we were to think back to when you first got together or you got married,
- 15:55was there any part of you that wanted to be with someone that was financially stable
- 15:59or did that just happen by accident?
- 16:01Because I've seen a lot of the stuff online about self-love
- 16:05equals you can choose what you deserve in terms of someone that has a lot of money
- 16:09and can treat you and all that kind of thing.
- 16:11But he wasn't like that originally.
- 16:12I'm just kind of curious how that transpired.
- 16:14No, you're right.
- 16:15So it wasn't that I was looking for money but I wasn't ever going to date a loser.
- 16:20And I dedicate that to my dad being a good example.
- 16:23When he came to America when I was two, he had literally nothing to his name
- 16:28and he built a business, a very successful business from the ground up
- 16:31and provided for his family.
- 16:33And so that kind of opened up my eyes to different type of man who will do anything.
- 16:37I met like a lot of men but when I met my husband, he had that vision,
- 16:42not drive to want to build something.
- 16:45He didn't have it but he wanted to build something.
- 16:47I don't know, I had faith in him but also like I felt he reminded me of my dad.
- 16:51So it wasn't the money but it was the mindset.
- 16:54And I had no doubt he was going to be rich.
- 16:57He had a vision and so did I.
- 16:59When it comes to a few of his zoom out and say he wasn't at this point
- 17:04because he is very successful, obviously he has a lot of money.
- 17:07How long would you have waited around for him to sort that out?
- 17:10Do you think it would have been a game changer for you if it hadn't worked out for him financially?
- 17:15Yeah, at a certain level, I do believe like a man needs to be financially sound
- 17:20to be in a marriage and like have a family.
- 17:23And that's like the bare minimum.
- 17:25You can't marry somebody who can't pay the bills.
- 17:27Like why would he choose that for yourself?
- 17:29If he wasn't this rich, let's say he had absolutely nothing.
- 17:34I don't know if we would have gotten married right away
- 17:37because he wasn't financially ready and needed to focus on his future
- 17:40instead of getting married right now.
- 17:42He was taking care of me fully but not at this level that's okay too
- 17:47because he's at the end of the day, he's taking care of me
- 17:51and he's paying the bills, the foods on the table, that's all that matters
- 17:54and I actually love him a lot.
- 17:56I don't think I could leave him now even if he didn't have any money.
- 17:59But yeah, at a certain level you do need to be with somebody with money to pay the bills.
- 18:03Do you believe that to be married or to be with somebody means that
- 18:11it's their responsibility to pay for the bills, the finances
- 18:15or do you think that it's more of a shared thing?
- 18:18I do think it's on the man to take care of the household
- 18:21which is a more traditional mindset.
- 18:24You know at the end of the day, the woman assuming we'll bring the kids
- 18:28and be pregnant, breastfeed, raise the children.
- 18:32And in doing so, you're helping the man advance his career
- 18:35because he doesn't have to worry about staying home
- 18:37and taking care of the children.
- 18:39He can focus on work and getting promotions and things like that.
- 18:43While you had to put your career on hold,
- 18:46the bills should definitely be paid by the man.
- 18:49I don't know what it is about my upbringing
- 18:51but I would feel really uncomfortable with that lifestyle
- 18:54if I'm being completely honest.
- 18:55I know that you love your life so I know that that's not offensive
- 18:58but I don't know, I just couldn't imagine not being the one
- 19:01that was making money or contributing in that way.
- 19:04I don't know how to explain it.
- 19:05I definitely get you and I agree with the making money part.
- 19:09I do make my own money, I just don't contribute.
- 19:12So in my culture, it's believed the woman's money is her money
- 19:16and the man's money is their money.
- 19:18But that's kind of the norm though.
- 19:20But then how does it work with your husband paying for you opposed to...
- 19:26How does that work in terms of your money is your money and his money is his money?
- 19:30How does it work then for...
- 19:32Could you explain culturally?
- 19:34I actually don't understand because we've grown up in a really different world.
- 19:37Yeah.
- 19:38So my money is my money and his money is our money.
- 19:41So his money is for the family.
- 19:43My money can be used for savings, for a rainy day,
- 19:47presents, for friends, family, him,
- 19:50random stuff on myself, self-care, whatever it could be.
- 19:54How does it work in terms of culturally?
- 19:56If I would love to hear you speaking to what money means to your culture
- 20:00and how that then translates into the dynamic of being in a relationship.
- 20:04So in my culture, the woman doesn't have to contribute to the household in bills.
- 20:09It's her right as a woman, like in that culture, to...
- 20:12She can make money, she cannot, it's up to her completely.
- 20:14But the man, when he does marry a woman, he has to take care of her.
- 20:18Children has to take care of them.
- 20:20That's how it is in my culture.
- 20:21So my mom lived that way, my family back home lived that way.
- 20:25Most women in Dubai lived that way, of that culture.
- 20:28It's just the norm.
- 20:30If you do make money cool, he doesn't need the money.
- 20:33And do you feel fine with that?
- 20:35Yeah, I feel fine with that.
- 20:37Because you take care of him too in a different way.
- 20:39As a woman in this type of relationship,
- 20:42like you take on the role of feeding him every meal,
- 20:45you make sure the house is clean, you make sure he has clean clothes,
- 20:49like you take care of him, his overall livelihood, and he pays the bills.
- 20:53And I'm happy doing that.
- 20:54I just find it fascinating.
- 20:55I guess coming from yourself, when you were so entrepreneurial in career driven,
- 21:01to then go into that more traditional role,
- 21:04whereas usually people kind of have that from the very beginning,
- 21:07and that's fine.
- 21:09But it's just, I guess, kind of doing that, you know, as you got older,
- 21:12and as you got together in terms of like,
- 21:15I, you say, what's making money, I was very career driven,
- 21:17and now I'm happy to be provided for an ascense.
- 21:21Yeah, it's just, it's quite, quite interesting dynamic,
- 21:23and it's not something that we've seen before in some of the interviews.
- 21:26But I guess you, there is the cultural side of things as well.
- 21:29Yeah, so to answer that, when I was career driven,
- 21:32it was still the same way where all of the money I made was mine.
- 21:37And I was still getting like everything paid for it by him,
- 21:41because I was making money, but I wasn't trying to step into that role
- 21:44outside of my culture.
- 21:46You know, both, I've done both either way he supports me,
- 21:49and that's what I like about it.
- 21:51I guess also that's what he finds attractive too,
- 21:53like there's an element of not hunt together it,
- 21:55but like, I'm caring for you, I'm paying for, you know,
- 21:59it's so fascinating how different cultures work.
- 22:02And does that stem all the way down to people who are not millionaires?
- 22:05Yeah, it does, absolutely.
- 22:07The difference would be, if your man is, for example,
- 22:09he's making not as much, but he's still taking care of you,
- 22:13you're getting your nails done, you're hair done,
- 22:15you don't have to wake up and go to work and clock in.
- 22:17That is the same thing.
- 22:19Just at a different scale.
- 22:21You're still being taken care of as a woman.
- 22:23Like, what is the reason for that?
- 22:25It's part of the religion actually, the good on,
- 22:27because I'm Muslim, my husband's Muslim too,
- 22:30and the good on it says that the responsibility
- 22:33of paying the bills and making the money and providing is on the man
- 22:37and being a Muslim like you know that,
- 22:40and you don't argue it, you just accept it.
- 22:43If you don't have as much money, for example,
- 22:45I don't know, you probably wouldn't get married
- 22:47and you would try to work on your career before,
- 22:49because when you get married, you know that that's coming
- 22:53with being the head of the house.
- 22:55It's so normal in Dubai, if you go to Dubai,
- 22:57it's like that everywhere.
- 22:59So one time I was out with my friends,
- 23:01and my husband wasn't there.
- 23:03It was me, a girlfriend, and then it was two guys.
- 23:05One was her boyfriend, another one was our friend.
- 23:08I wanted to pay the bill.
- 23:10I went up to the guy, the cashier,
- 23:12and I was like, okay, can I pay the bill?
- 23:14He's like, I can't let you do that.
- 23:16I was like, I want to pay the bill, what do you mean?
- 23:19And Dubai, he said that to me.
- 23:21I have, there's men at the table, I can't let you pay the bill.
- 23:25If I don't ask them first.
- 23:27So that was so awkward.
- 23:29Whoa.
- 23:30Oh, that makes me so mad.
- 23:32Just like the lack of ability to spend your money how you want
- 23:35and the lack of, yeah, and asking them for me in your permission.
- 23:39I was so embarrassed, because you went up to the table
- 23:42and I was right behind him.
- 23:43I'm like, oh my god, this is weird.
- 23:45I was like, hey, is it okay if she pays the bill?
- 23:47And I was like, oh my goodness, this is so embarrassing.
- 23:50And what did he say?
- 23:51My friends were embarrassed too.
- 23:53They're like, oh my god, I don't know.
- 23:55What, do we say yes?
- 23:56Do we say, like, you know, it was weird.
- 23:58I don't remember what happened so it was years ago.
- 24:01Because for me, I would personally feel like
- 24:03that is very controlling and very, I guess, belittling.
- 24:08Like I remember my mom, and I think I've told the story
- 24:10in the podcast before.
- 24:11Like my mom went to buy something and she've
- 24:13swiped your credit card.
- 24:14And the cashier guy was like, oh god,
- 24:17it was like quite tati.
- 24:18Like she obviously did a new one.
- 24:19And she's been spending money on it.
- 24:21And he goes, oh, your husband won't be happy.
- 24:23You obviously been using that card a lot.
- 24:25And my mom is like, you know, the biggest career woman
- 24:27she's worked her entire life.
- 24:29She worked while she was raising us.
- 24:30And she just lost it.
- 24:32And I was like, there's that weird assumption
- 24:34that everyone is being provided for by their partners or, you know,
- 24:38and just, I guess, that whole traditional mindset.
- 24:41And so I don't know, I just feel like if that had happened to me,
- 24:44I would have felt really disempowered.
- 24:46And I would have felt like a lack of dependence,
- 24:49you know, lack freedom of how to spend my money, how I want.
- 24:52And yeah, I think that kind of plays into a whole,
- 24:55the whole gender itself is like that whole being provided for
- 25:00and being told or asked, you know, if you can spend money,
- 25:04is really suppressing us as a gender.
- 25:06I don't know if you have the same view.
- 25:08No, I agree with you.
- 25:10I agree with you because in that situation,
- 25:12it definitely like felt like I was in a box.
- 25:15That situation was very awkward.
- 25:17And I can imagine if a woman who's, and for me,
- 25:21I'm not even that, you know, independent for a woman
- 25:23who's way more independent, I can imagine like how hard that will be.
- 25:27Because it works so hard to establish yourself as a woman
- 25:31to then kind of be brushed off as like a man, you know.
- 25:36But then don't take this, don't take this the wrong way.
- 25:38But then I guess your whole image is playing into that,
- 25:40being like a millionaire's wife rather than being like,
- 25:43hey, I'm a millionaire myself.
- 25:45I built my entire career and I've got my own money.
- 25:48And so I guess there's an element of, yeah,
- 25:51women playing into that narrative, which doesn't help.
- 25:55I mean, also a different side to it is that being a feminist
- 26:00means that you accept anyway a woman,
- 26:03she was just to live and do with her life.
- 26:05So it goes both ways, like she could be a career woman,
- 26:09a boss, a CEO, but she could also choose to just start a family
- 26:12and like be a wife.
- 26:14And that's the power and the freedom of really choosing
- 26:17whatever you want to do, you know.
- 26:19I actually love that.
- 26:20And I think that's a really good point.
- 26:22It's the idea of not judging how any woman wants to spend their life
- 26:25or their money.
- 26:26Yeah.
- 26:27But I do agree with you that I do make my own money,
- 26:30but I play into like the housewife life.
- 26:32And the reason I do that is because it's like now my tick-tock
- 26:35M.O. and it's hard to escape it.
- 26:37I can't honestly count if I wanted to,
- 26:40because every time I post a video that's regarding anything else,
- 26:44it gets like 10 views and that's boring.
- 26:47But do you think that is there an element of playing it up
- 26:50for tick-tock or is that actually genuinely?
- 26:53Because you know, there's obviously an element of realism there
- 26:57in terms of you enjoy spending money and he likes spending money on you
- 27:00and I get that.
- 27:01But do you think that maybe you lean more into the whole
- 27:04I'm a millionaire's wife when really you and him both know
- 27:08that you think of yourself as your own person?
- 27:10Yeah.
- 27:11And it's like a persona that I feel like I take on.
- 27:14I feel like that persona comes out for tick-tock
- 27:17and I create content around that for my channel.
- 27:21And it's just kind of finding a balance between like what's true to me
- 27:24and what's for my channel.
- 27:26Right.
- 27:27And so what kind of stuff did,
- 27:28because one of the things that you posted and spoke about on tick-tock
- 27:31was the stuff that he bought for you, like gifts.
- 27:34Yeah.
- 27:35Is that, is that for real?
- 27:37As in, does he buy you like new cars,
- 27:41new apartments, etc.
- 27:43Or is that part of the persona?
- 27:45No, he does.
- 27:46But then when I post it on tick-tock,
- 27:48I don't say something like we just got a new car.
- 27:50I say like my husband just bought me a new car.
- 27:53And that's the difference in wording that I'll say.
- 27:57But no, my husband, he actually does.
- 27:59And it makes it really easy to hype up that persona.
- 28:03It makes it easy when he is actually like a true provider.
- 28:08And I'm lucky.
- 28:09I really am lucky.
- 28:10On tick-tock and off tick-tock,
- 28:12like I'm lucky to have that.
- 28:13I do hype it up though.
- 28:15Like I'm not going to lie.
- 28:16I hype it up on tick-tock.
- 28:17And that's why my channel's grown so much.
- 28:19I'm dying to know what on earth does he and Beaston?
- 28:25Give us some hot tips here.
- 28:28Yeah.
- 28:29So he owns quite a few businesses.
- 28:31He does forex and crypto.
- 28:33Then he has an academy that teaches you about forex and crypto.
- 28:37And he owns an AI software.
- 28:39And then a chat platform.
- 28:41And he owns a charity as well.
- 28:43He just does a lot with his money.
- 28:45And then he does real estate too.
- 28:47Gosh, jack of old trades.
- 28:49But his fingers in a lot of pies.
- 28:51Gosh, I need to get a wriggle on.
- 28:53I just wanted to touch on the charitable side of things as well.
- 28:59Because I think there might be a few people listening going.
- 29:01Do both of you give to charity,
- 29:03do any philanthropic work in that.
- 29:05So it sounds like you do.
- 29:07Absolutely.
- 29:08It's part of my religion as well.
- 29:10It's called Zakat.
- 29:11And that's where you have to give a percentage of all of your money.
- 29:15That year, every year, to charity to people in need.
- 29:19And then my husband, what he owns is called MotivPak,
- 29:22where you donate backpacks with motivational stuff inside.
- 29:26And then school supplies to schools in the lower, lower wealth areas.
- 29:31So I do the Muslim side and he does his own thing.
- 29:35I do the one that's part of my religion.
- 29:37One more question for me.
- 29:39How did you land on 10% in terms of income?
- 29:42Like, why not 50?
- 29:43I mean, if you're a team, he's providing.
- 29:46That's a traditional mindset.
- 29:47You're providing it home in a different way.
- 29:50Why is it not 50, 50, and how did you land it at 10%.
- 29:53So when he makes his money, he has to deduct,
- 29:57like, you know, our mortgages, our bills,
- 30:00all of the payments we make.
- 30:02We have a lot of bills monthly.
- 30:05So he'll take care of all of that.
- 30:07So that's why it's fair.
- 30:08I'll get 10% of everything.
- 30:10And then the rest will go towards investing to keep growing the wealth.
- 30:15And two to, like, charity and then three to all of our bills.
- 30:19But it's definitely enough.
- 30:21What would team be safe?
- 30:23So he makes anywhere between, like, $100,000 a month
- 30:27to, like, $150 a month.
- 30:29So 10% of that would be $10,000.
- 30:32And then we also have a fund for travel, too,
- 30:34because we love to travel.
- 30:35So 5% goes to that.
- 30:37And that will be for, like, our plane tickets,
- 30:39our accommodations, activities.
- 30:41It's just travel, an account for traveling.
- 30:44And then he has his own 10%.
- 30:46Do you know what I think is super interesting,
- 30:48just then, when you knew exactly how much?
- 30:51Well, like, I was really impressed that you were like,
- 30:53I know that this is where this goes.
- 30:55This goes here 10% of this amount is 10%.
- 30:58You know, I think it's quite cool that you're obviously aware
- 31:00of where the money is going and what it's being spent on.
- 31:02It's not like you're just like, he gives you a little bit of pocket money
- 31:05and you have no idea what's happening.
- 31:07It's a plan you've obviously made together to go on holidays,
- 31:11to be able to continue to grow your wealth,
- 31:13to invest in property, all of that stuff.
- 31:15It sounds like it's very much a team effort.
- 31:17And he also does the 10% and 2%.
- 31:19So it's fair.
- 31:20Like, we have the same amount that we spend.
- 31:22He doesn't get more than me.
- 31:23When I did have my own business, though,
- 31:25I was making like 30 to 40,000 a month,
- 31:28which now, obviously, it's not,
- 31:30it's on hold right now.
- 31:31So that's like less than what I'm used to.
- 31:34But it's okay, because I don't have to work.
- 31:36Are you ever motivated to start to ramp that back up again
- 31:40and start increasing your income or topping it up
- 31:43from your own businesses?
- 31:45I would love to, honestly, my goal is to start a family
- 31:48and then make money and help provide for my family, too.
- 31:52Like the children buying them stuff and things like that.
- 31:56So the goal is to open up my business in Dubai.
- 31:59That'll be the next step.
- 32:01I don't know how good it would do in Dubai,
- 32:03maybe not as good as America, but, you know, here's hoping.
- 32:06None of that energy.
- 32:07Thank you very much, Linda.
- 32:08None of that.
- 32:09No, it's going to do amazing, amazing.
- 32:12Okay.
- 32:13So then one last question I guess in terms of like an exit strategy,
- 32:16if anything was to go tits up,
- 32:18you're not worried because in America or in Dubai,
- 32:22the law is that it would be split 50, 50,
- 32:26shouldn't anything go wrong.
- 32:27Is that right?
- 32:28Yeah.
- 32:29So in Dubai, the law is not in favor of women.
- 32:31If you do get a divorce, you just get what's yours,
- 32:34and he gets what's his, which most of the time,
- 32:36he'll have more than you.
- 32:38But in America, where we got married,
- 32:40it's 50, 50 completely.
- 32:42But aside from that, our first house is in my name.
- 32:45So if we did get a divorce, like,
- 32:47I for sure have that house.
- 32:49And I did, I asked for that because of like that fear,
- 32:52like potentially what, because he has those eight companies.
- 32:56And I don't, God forbid, I don't ever want a divorce,
- 32:59but I don't think it would be a big issue,
- 33:02because there's no prenup, so it's just straight down the middle.
- 33:04Was that a strategic decision to get married in the US?
- 33:07She's like, hey, I know we can get married.
- 33:09How about in another country?
- 33:11I know, right?
- 33:12No, we moved to Dubai after we've already been married for three years.
- 33:16What if for some, again, a terrible, terrible reason?
- 33:20Your husband was unable to work,
- 33:22and therefore could not provide for you and your future family?
- 33:27What do you have any like, insurance is in place
- 33:29or anything like that where, you know,
- 33:31they would still be an income, you know,
- 33:33where you could still live your lifestyle
- 33:35in some capacity as it is today?
- 33:37Yeah.
- 33:38So part of that, the breakdown of the 10% and the percentages,
- 33:42he puts the percentage into a savings account,
- 33:44where right now I think it's set to like four years worth of money
- 33:48that we could don't have to make a single dollar
- 33:51and would be fine.
- 33:53Last that though, I think four years is plenty of time
- 33:56to figure it out.
- 33:57If not, then you're the problem.
- 33:59So right now he has a savings account, yeah.
- 34:01So he prioritizes that, the savings.
- 34:03And what about in terms of just being on the same page financially?
- 34:07Was there something that you spoke about before you got married?
- 34:09Was it something that you, you know,
- 34:11do you talk about a lot?
- 34:12Do you ever have fights around money?
- 34:14Like I'm curious to know just the communication
- 34:16when it comes to your relationship and money
- 34:18because there's obviously a lot of involved image
- 34:20and you're not stressed about money
- 34:22and the sense that it's not enough.
- 34:24But are there any kind of conflicts or things that have arisen
- 34:27over the time you've been together?
- 34:29So I know and I think why is because we were together
- 34:33from literally the beginning that once he started making money
- 34:36it just kind of naturally included me
- 34:38and he already started like his life improved and so did mine.
- 34:42We got married like our lives both improved together
- 34:45and I think that's part of the reason
- 34:47is like we were together for so long.
- 34:49Aside from that though,
- 34:51so one time I was very stressed about my business.
- 34:54I had like three problems going on
- 34:56with like my manager or customer things like that
- 34:58and I was telling him I'm really stressed
- 35:00I literally can't handle this.
- 35:01I don't want to do this anymore.
- 35:02He was telling me it's okay.
- 35:04Like I'll take care of you.
- 35:05It's fine.
- 35:06And then that's when I did take a step back
- 35:08and I have never been happier.
- 35:11That's pretty amazing.
- 35:12That's huge for like any couple I think.
- 35:15Yeah, I mean we've had fights one time for example.
- 35:17So my business, the weight loss business,
- 35:20the Med Spa, he owns that one.
- 35:23Like technically it's in his name.
- 35:25And I remember I had a problem with that.
- 35:26I was like this is my business.
- 35:27Like why is it in your name?
- 35:29And the reason why is because he opened it up for me.
- 35:31Like he started it.
- 35:33He opened the bank account.
- 35:34He opened up every,
- 35:35and he just kind of put it all in his name
- 35:37and lumped it up with his businesses.
- 35:39That was a problem for me.
- 35:40I was like okay.
- 35:41Why is it in your name?
- 35:43And why is everything in your name?
- 35:44And he was just, he was telling like I can give you,
- 35:47like it won't change anything.
- 35:48Like I'll put it in your name.
- 35:49And that was a fight that we had.
- 35:51It was like probably the biggest fight.
- 35:52But we've made up for it since then.
- 35:54Like I feel way more comfortable now.
- 35:57Like he put me on everything.
- 35:58I think there will be a few people listening that would be.
- 36:01We probably have had situations where they may have been in the same boat,
- 36:04but it didn't turn out as well.
- 36:06You know, people,
- 36:07partners have said they'll do the right thing.
- 36:10You know, and then it turns sour.
- 36:12And they've kind of been left in the lurch.
- 36:14So it's, you know, it is great to hear.
- 36:16But it does sound also like you are.
- 36:18You've, I guess you've put your ducks in a row in a case.
- 36:21In case something did go tits up.
- 36:23But I was going to say something in terms of, um,
- 36:26women who are just people who have someone out.
- 36:29Like they're relying on somebody else.
- 36:31Think if you're not married to that person or you don't trust them,
- 36:34never ever put something in someone else's name.
- 36:37Like always having your name.
- 36:39Like even if you're married,
- 36:40that's kind of like the power is like it being in your name.
- 36:43Cause trust will only take you so far.
- 36:46The main thing that you have gone viral on TikTok for
- 36:49has been the gold lattes.
- 36:51Am I right?
- 36:52And thinking it was 24 karat.
- 36:53Can you please explain what they look like
- 36:55and how much they cost?
- 36:56Yeah.
- 36:57So it's served in the, in the Emirates Palace.
- 37:00That's where the, the prints of Dubai.
- 37:02I believe owns that palace.
- 37:04And you can go with public.
- 37:06You order this coffee.
- 37:07It's just normal coffee.
- 37:08It's a latte with milk.
- 37:09So then there's a layer of chocolate on top.
- 37:11And then it's gold.
- 37:13Just sprinkled with gold like fully like heaps of it.
- 37:15It doesn't even taste that good.
- 37:17But like I said, I only get it once a month.
- 37:19Cause it's an Abu Dhabi.
- 37:20And so you do travel quite a bit, right?
- 37:22Like I saw that online that you do quite a lot of travel.
- 37:24Yeah, a little too much.
- 37:26Yeah.
- 37:27So we have a house in Las Vegas and an apartment in California.
- 37:30And then art Dubai.
- 37:32So it's like always kind of these three.
- 37:34And then plus where else we go?
- 37:36Like if we go to Italy or Mexico or something like that.
- 37:39And are you traveling quite bougie?
- 37:41Like what kind of travel are we talking?
- 37:43I like business class a lot.
- 37:45So does Victoria.
- 37:46Same.
- 37:47I love business class.
- 37:48But I don't miss my business class flights.
- 37:50I would definitely be there like three, four hours early
- 37:53just to soak up the lounge and make the most of it.
- 37:55Look, if you ever need a buddy to come traveling with,
- 37:58you know, if your husband can't come at any point,
- 38:00where are your girls?
- 38:01Or if you know, last minute you have that business class flight book to Italy
- 38:05and you're like, I can't make it.
- 38:06We will be there.
- 38:07We will take that carpet business class flight book.
- 38:09If you've got to Dubai, oh my god.
- 38:11Dubai would love you.
