- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jack and Phil Jaguar fans welcome in to do vault daily presented by Jinjak.com.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Deluga, thanks so much for being here Tuesday, August 4th, as always we are presented by Brass Tax Coffee, Best Coffee in town, without question.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate them supporting the channel.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: So right now,
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: We were getting into Jaguar's training camp practice six standout performers.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: And this was a tough one, not highlighting anybody on offense today, even though there was some nice stuff done.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Williams and Josh Cameron, I think both as late round rookie draft picks performed well, but it was just a really ugly day overall for that off.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: But the run defense for the Jaguar's top to bottom stand out.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: They were pissed off about how they performed yesterday.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: First day in pads, they came out and they set the tone.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: They absolutely did.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: Beyond that, I mean, I think that there was a lot of like low lights offensively just the connection between Trevor Lawrence and Parker Washington was off.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: off today.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was not good.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think Trevor missed throw.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker dropped one.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: There was another one that would like a contestic situation that he would normally catch.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was off.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: and so that that can happen.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: But then you had also the defense beyond just the run defense and the Trevor Lawrence and Parker Washington action being off.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: You also had the Jaguar's defense as a whole making place.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: They absolutely were.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not just when Trevor was out there, but against, you know, Nick Mullins as well, like Antonio Johnson picked off Trevor.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray picked off Nick Mullins.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: So the Jaguar's two starting safeties, shout out to them, but entire run defense, those safeties getting their hands on the football, gotta give them credit.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: But then four other players who really stood out to me on defense, Branson Colms, who has stood out throughout camp, the battle for playing time for snaps, between Branson Colms, an un-drive-to-free agent last year.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: on a Wake Forest and Ben Drow Miller, who was entering a contract year, this is a heck of a battle.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's must-see TV, honestly, and I know people marbally don't run.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Weak-sized landbacker.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Not even your best linebacker, you got foe, I look and then his guard deck is obviously established as a Sam, but like these guys are really playing very well.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: They're making plays and coverage, they're making plays against the run and Branson Combs was the one who stood out the most today, but they had multiple practices where both of them stood out and extremely high level.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: They've had multiple practices where one or the other kind of kind of like took the lead it seems like but this battle ain't going anywhere It's going to be raging on throughout camp and into the season and it wouldn't surprise me if they kind of have like situational usage It really wouldn't But yeah, for ancient poems heck of a day pass break ups run stuff all this all stuff you're looking for Jarian Jones
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'll tell you what, he and Jabar Mughamed, I think, are in a highly contested battle for who is making the most plays at Cornerback, because Jabar Mughamed is the next guy on my list after Jarian Jones.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, Jarian playing inside, playing outside, extremely high confidence, interception today against Nick Mullins.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the other day he had the best practice, I think
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: in training camp, shutting it down, and I will say, I talked about how a Monterey Brown hadn't been making as many plays as some of the other DBs.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: He also doesn't get targeted as much as some of the other DBs.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's very valid point.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: When he's in primary cover, he doesn't get targeted as much.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Still, he hasn't made as many plays.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: And when Jarians get targeted,
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like he's allowing completions like he is shutting it down.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Interceptions, pass breakups, tight coverage.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when Parker Washington tried to get that catch in the end zone today from Trevor Lawrence, Jarring Jones was there making it difficult.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: And he is just all over the place.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis said yesterday after practice, like,
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Jarian has the ability to be one of the best corners in football.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I think that that is going to ever happen, but do I think he has the ability to be a high level impact player for the Jacksonville Jaguars?
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a treat to watch him ascend over the last couple of years, and now I think playing at
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: The most confident that he's been, he's been in this system.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're seeing that across the board.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: Anthony Campanila was asked today after practice about like, is there more confidence and comfortability in your two of the system?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: And he was careful to say like, that's what you hope.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's what you want.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: But we don't have the, we don't have the,
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, honestly, the ability or or comfort ability to sit here and feel like we should be comfortable.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: We have to take every day as it comes, we have to try to grow and get better every single day.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: As soon as you feel like you got it or you're comfortable or you know this system or the guys, then you're dead in the water, like you've got to keep growing and I think that that's what they're doing and that's what Jari and Jones is showing in a big way.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: And Jabbar Munhauman is too.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's also his second year in this system.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, an undrafted free agent last year.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: Made some plays here and there as a rookie, a player who I really liked coming out of Oregon, isn't the biggest guy.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously, I got overlooked a little bit, but really good sticky tape at Oregon and talking about sticky, like, nobody's getting open against him.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter if he's finding it's the ones, the twos, the threes.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: He has really quick feet, he has really fluid hips, and he understands what he's supposed to be doing right now.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Unless something drastically changes, I honestly have no clue how you could keep this guy off the team.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: He's got to be on the team.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: There is the special team's fact factor, right?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a towards the bottom of the roster player, special teams is a huge factor, but on special teams, covering kicks, he's done a good job as a gunner, trying to downpun some things like that.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: So he's got that and his cap too and his back too.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know how you don't keep this guy.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's how well he's playing.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then finally, BJ Green, one of the big storylines we've talked about is, you know, who's going to be Edge 3?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: And this is another one where it could be by committee.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think Danny Striggout clearly is a consistent high-ephyr, high-motor, smart player, good against the run, good on games up front, but maybe it doesn't have that real
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: one-on-one pass rush ability.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe you see Danny Strigo in certain situations, based rundowns.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: You see BJ Green as that pass rush specialist potentially as an Edge 3.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's got pass rush ability.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's explosive off the ball.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's shorter and stature, which makes it more like it's a change up, right?
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: You have Josh Heinz Allen, obviously a big dude.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: Tray Vaughn Walker, huge, Wesley Williams
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Danny straight up, even a lot bigger taller.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green a little bit more diminutive, but has explosiveness and power and is working his butt off to get better every single day and has like improved, it looks like at the top of his Russian my opinion, with his hand usage.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's trying to get that little Josh Hines Allen patent to cross shop going, I've been seeing it.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's it.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously Dennis Gardeck can rush.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: They will bring blitzers as we have seen.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: And not necessarily even a blitz, a sim pressure, right?
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like Jordan Lewis could be rushing the quarterback.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like it's a blitz, but it's not a blitz, because you have somebody dropping out, right?
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: Things like that.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the players that really stood out to me today.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of guys on defense stood out today.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: They deserve a lot of credit for bringing it to the offense.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Offense, Trevor Lawrence, Parker Washington, they got a sharpen up.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, no practice tomorrow.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: Our first topic for tomorrow will be the tackle situation with ants on Harris and playing a lot of left tackle and just kind of talking about the offensive line in general.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be doing that tomorrow morning.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all tuning in.

- 9:29[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
