- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, coming to you live from Alta, Monte Springs, Florida.
- 0:03Speaker 1: This is the Ember show, your host Ember. First and foremost,
- 0:06Speaker 1: let's get into prayer, Lord Father that arts in heaven.
- 0:09Speaker 1: I come to you in prayer to be able to
- 0:10Speaker 1: have the Holy Spirit be able to speak through this
- 0:13Speaker 1: mic and be able to go through the listener's ears
- 0:15Speaker 1: and be able to reach their hearts and minds and
- 0:16Speaker 1: be able to apply these verses to their lives and
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Lord Jesus Christ's name. I pray a men. And
- 0:22Speaker 1: we are still on Matthew chapter nineteen. Jesus teaches that
- 0:28Speaker 1: husbands and wives must stay together. This resonated with me
- 0:31Speaker 1: so much. And if you did not listen to the
- 0:34Speaker 1: episode and you're listening to this one first, I highly
- 0:38Speaker 1: encourage you to stop where you're at, go back and
- 0:41Speaker 1: listen to Matthew chapter nineteen, verses one through fifteen, because
- 0:45Speaker 1: this one is going to be Matthew chapter nineteen versus
- 0:50Speaker 1: sixteen through wherever we get to and this is going
- 0:54Speaker 1: to be titled A rich young Man comes to Jesus.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I highly encourage you to grab your Bible or get
- 1:04Speaker 1: on your Bible app and read along as you hear
- 1:08Speaker 1: along in this episode, because that'll be a great source
- 1:11Speaker 1: of being able to soak in the word and not
- 1:13Speaker 1: also and also not be distracted. And if you just
- 1:18Speaker 1: want to listen, I highly encourage that you really listen.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You don't have to sit there and close your eyes
- 1:24Speaker 1: and hold your hands, but just really pay attention, listen,
- 1:30Speaker 1: don't just hear the verses. And I say that respectfully
- 1:34Speaker 1: because I want you to really be able to apply
- 1:36Speaker 1: these verses to your lives. Okay, So a rich young
- 1:39Speaker 1: man comes to Jesus. Matthew, chapter nineteen, verse sixteen. One
- 1:43Speaker 1: day a man came to Jesus. He asked Jesus, teacher,
- 1:49Speaker 1: what good thing must I do so that I can
- 1:52Speaker 1: live with God forever? Verse seventeen states Jesus replied, why
- 1:58Speaker 1: do you ask me about a good thing? Only God
- 2:04Speaker 1: is good? And that's one sentence in verse seventeen. The
- 2:08Speaker 1: next sentence nobody else, nobody. If you want to have
- 2:15Speaker 1: true life, you must obey God's commands. Verse eighteen. The
- 2:21Speaker 1: man asked Jesus which commands? Which commands must I obey?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Jesus replied, do not kill anyone, Do not have sex
- 2:31Speaker 1: with anyone who is not true wife, Do not rob anyone,
- 2:35Speaker 1: Do not say things that are not true about people.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Verse nineteen. Love your father and your mother and obey them.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Love other people as much as you love yourself. And
- 2:47Speaker 1: I love this part right here verse nineteen because it's
- 2:52Speaker 1: it's something when we're talking about the father and the
- 2:55Speaker 1: mother obeying them, you know, as an adolescent, right in
- 2:59Speaker 1: a young it's probably best that you listen to your parents, right.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I mean, we've all kind of gone through it. You know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: some different stories, of course, But I want to make
- 3:10Speaker 1: this clear that you cannot love other people if you
- 3:18Speaker 1: do not love yourself. A lot of people struggle with
- 3:21Speaker 1: this because they do not have the connection with God.
- 3:27Speaker 1: They don't even know what love is. How can you
- 3:31Speaker 1: love other people if you don't even love God, if
- 3:37Speaker 1: you don't even love Jesus, if you don't even love
- 3:42Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit. It's a different kind of love. We
- 3:47Speaker 1: throw around love like we like, we like, we are entitled.
- 3:52Speaker 1: We're the one that it's our love, nobody else's right.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I'm getting deep on this. I'm get deep. I'm breaking
- 4:01Speaker 1: it down for you. We already know the consequences. When
- 4:05Speaker 1: you kill somebody, you're gonna be going to prison. And
- 4:09Speaker 1: if you have sex with another man's wife, you might
- 4:12Speaker 1: die if he finds out. If you rob somebody again,
- 4:15Speaker 1: you can go to jail or prison. Do not say
- 4:18Speaker 1: things that are not true about people, gossip right, trying
- 4:22Speaker 1: to talk down upon people, giving people perspectives of somebody else, right,
- 4:26Speaker 1: that's gonna backfire. That's gonna backfire. And if you have
- 4:30Speaker 1: done that, you need to repent. You need to ask
- 4:32Speaker 1: for forgiveness and stop doing it. Let's just be real.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Come on now, verse twenty. The young man replied, I
- 4:39Speaker 1: have always obeyed these laws. What else must I do?
- 4:43Speaker 1: In Verse twenty one states Jesus said to him, if
- 4:46Speaker 1: you want to be completely good, then you must do this.
- 4:50Speaker 1: You must sell everything that you have then give the
- 4:53Speaker 1: money to poor people. If you do that, you will
- 4:58Speaker 1: have many valuable things in heaven. Then come back and
- 5:02Speaker 1: be my disciple. See you think that when you're giving
- 5:07Speaker 1: all these things away, like Jesus is asking a lot, right,
- 5:12Speaker 1: But if you look towards the end, then come back
- 5:17Speaker 1: and be my disciple. If you have read the Bible.
- 5:22Speaker 1: If you have it, I'm gonna break something down for you.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Here God was able to bless others through Jesus. Jesus
- 5:35Speaker 1: was able to multiply five loaves of bread and two fish.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So what I'm really trying to get through to you,
- 5:43Speaker 1: the listener on this to understand is that being Jesus's disciple,
- 5:49Speaker 1: being connected to God, being connected to the Holy Spirit
- 5:53Speaker 1: is not probably what you think it is. It's not
- 5:56Speaker 1: all about going to church. It's not all about just
- 6:02Speaker 1: boring stuff. Okay, Like I'm taking from somebody that has
- 6:07Speaker 1: actually walked the walk. It has been so refreshing to
- 6:13Speaker 1: be a disciple of Jesus Christ, seeing the lives change,
- 6:18Speaker 1: hearing the testimonies, seeing people that were once lost now
- 6:24Speaker 1: found being christ Like, putting that consciousness on glorifying God
- 6:31Speaker 1: here on heaven. So when we do pass from this life,
- 6:35Speaker 1: we will be glorified with God, new bodies, angel wings
- 6:41Speaker 1: that you would you can't even imagine. And that's a
- 6:47Speaker 1: siren right there that might be yours. That might be
- 6:49Speaker 1: your warning. You know, if you're not a disciple of
- 6:53Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. I'm not here to shun you. I'm not
- 6:56Speaker 1: here to stone you. I'm just the messenger. Don't don't
- 7:01Speaker 1: don't shoot the messenger. I have been in your shoes,
- 7:06Speaker 1: not necessarily the things you've been through. But I have
- 7:09Speaker 1: once was not a believer. Then I was a believer
- 7:11Speaker 1: for twenty years. Then after going through about a year
- 7:17Speaker 1: and a half, two years of recovery, I'm now six
- 7:22Speaker 1: months following Jesus. It's not about me anymore. It's not
- 7:28Speaker 1: all about my brother anymore. It's not all about my
- 7:30Speaker 1: mother anymore. It's not all about my significant other anymore.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's all about God. Because I know that people, places,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and things have all of them have let me down
- 7:42Speaker 1: one way or another. They let me down, and I
- 7:44Speaker 1: put my trust too much trust in people, whether it
- 7:48Speaker 1: be family, friends, relationships, things. We're talking about material things
- 7:54Speaker 1: and places that I was loyal to, the bars, the clubs,
- 7:58Speaker 1: at the people's party. So, I mean, the list goes on,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know. But when I've been connected with God in
- 8:05Speaker 1: this way, He's never let me down. Even when I
- 8:08Speaker 1: was a believer, I was being dragged, I was being
- 8:12Speaker 1: carried out of certain places sometimes as well. I have testimony.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I have a few stories, and one in particular, I
- 8:20Speaker 1: don't know how I got home, but now I do.
- 8:23Speaker 1: I have known for a while that I do. But
- 8:26Speaker 1: let me really, let me get into this a little
- 8:29Speaker 1: deeper Verse twenty two. When the young man heard this,
- 8:32Speaker 1: he went away. He was very upset. He was feeling
- 8:36Speaker 1: sad because he was a very rich man. And Jesus
- 8:39Speaker 1: said to his disciples, here we go. We're going deep.
- 8:43Speaker 1: What I say is true. It is very difficult for
- 8:47Speaker 1: rich people to let God rule in their lives. The
- 8:52Speaker 1: hole in a needle is very small. A camel cannot
- 8:57Speaker 1: go through it. But I tell you it is even
- 9:01Speaker 1: more difficult for a rich person to let God rule
- 9:05Speaker 1: in their lives. Now, this is also not just necessarily
- 9:10Speaker 1: about money. You can be rich in ignorance, you can
- 9:13Speaker 1: be rich in arrogance, you can be rich in attitude, anger.
- 9:19Speaker 1: We're not just talking about money here, people. I want
- 9:22Speaker 1: to make that clear. Any rich person, greedy person, it's
- 9:28Speaker 1: going to be very hard to get into heaven. Now.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm not saying that there are rich people that don't
- 9:34Speaker 1: have the relationship with Jesus Christ. And they do a
- 9:36Speaker 1: lot of great things for whether it be their people
- 9:40Speaker 1: and you know, putting other people on and helping them grow.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You know, there's a difference. You know, it's money is
- 9:49Speaker 1: not the root of all evil. It's the love of
- 9:52Speaker 1: money is the root of all evil. If you love
- 9:54Speaker 1: money more than you love God, you're chasing the money,
- 9:57Speaker 1: you're chasing the material things. You're chasing seeing the lifestyle,
- 10:02Speaker 1: you're chasing the relationship right, and you're not putting that
- 10:08Speaker 1: same effort into God. It's all gonna crumble one day
- 10:11Speaker 1: or one day, it's all gonna crumble sooner than later.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Hopefully you realize that. Hopefully you realize that we got
- 10:23Speaker 1: some more time. So we're gonna probably get to verse
- 10:25Speaker 1: twenty five and we'll go to Matthew chapter twenty next
- 10:29Speaker 1: episode tomorrow. So let's get into it, because Jesus is
- 10:33Speaker 1: saying some things. Actually we're all in verse twenty five.
- 10:39Speaker 1: When the disciples heard this, they were even more surprised.
- 10:42Speaker 1: They said, so, perhaps God will not save anyone. Jesus
- 10:47Speaker 1: looked at them and he replied, for people, it really
- 10:52Speaker 1: is impossible, but God can do it. God can do everything.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Where we had on time I were good. I want
- 11:01Speaker 1: to keep going to about thirty if I can so.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Verse twenty seven Matthew chapter nineteen stains. Peter said to Jesus, look,
- 11:10Speaker 1: we have left everything to become your disciples. What will
- 11:15Speaker 1: we receive because we have done this. Verse twenty eight.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Jesus said to his disciples, I tell you this. One
- 11:24Speaker 1: day God will cause all things to become new. I,
- 11:27Speaker 1: the son of Man, will sit on my great throne
- 11:31Speaker 1: as king, and I will rule that new world. You,
- 11:36Speaker 1: who are my disciples, will also sit like kings on thrones.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You will judge the people of the twelve tribes of Israel.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Some people have left their homes because of me. Or
- 11:48Speaker 1: they may have left their brothers or sisters. Or they
- 11:51Speaker 1: may have left their mother or their father, or they
- 11:55Speaker 1: may have left their wife or their children, or their fields.
- 11:58Speaker 1: They have done that because because of me. God will
- 12:01Speaker 1: give those people many more things they than they have
- 12:06Speaker 1: left behind, even one hundred times more. And after they die,
- 12:12Speaker 1: they will live forever with God Verse thirty. And this
- 12:17Speaker 1: is how we're gonna close it out. But many people
- 12:20Speaker 1: who are very important now will become the least important,
- 12:25Speaker 1: and many people who are not important now will become
- 12:29Speaker 1: very important. Then whose ever last will be first, whose
- 12:33Speaker 1: ever first will be last? The tables turned There is
- 12:37Speaker 1: a reason. Yeah, Jesus was not all nice the whole time.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Is in his ministry he was turning tables and when
- 12:45Speaker 1: I mean turning tables, he was really flipping them because
- 12:50Speaker 1: Jesus had the authority. Jesus is the prime example of
- 12:56Speaker 1: what to be like the closest thing to God. And
- 13:00Speaker 1: we're gonna close out with that. I got two minutes,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and I want to highly encourage you to do your research,
- 13:08Speaker 1: read the Bible yourself, get into prayer with Jesus Christ.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That's the only how you're gonna connect to God. Because
- 13:20Speaker 1: with God, and we're talking to the Almighty, we're not
- 13:23Speaker 1: saying he, she, it is a, it, it is all.
- 13:28Speaker 1: We just don't we can't even put it in toowards right.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We all fall short of God's standards. That's why we
- 13:36Speaker 1: need to be connected to Jesus. That's why we need
- 13:39Speaker 1: to have the Holy Spirit live in us, not just
- 13:43Speaker 1: oh when we go to church we get a little
- 13:45Speaker 1: bit of the Holy Spirit and then we just leave it.
- 13:47Speaker 1: No or we just we just we just give our
- 13:52Speaker 1: money and no time, no energy, no efforts into glorifying God.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I can go on and on and on about this,
- 14:01Speaker 1: but I don't want to condemn you. I want to
- 14:03Speaker 1: give you an invitation right to be able to accept
- 14:06Speaker 1: Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and start on
- 14:09Speaker 1: the journey believe and then become a follower. But that
- 14:13Speaker 1: is something that I have encountered. So I want you
- 14:20Speaker 1: to be able to live a life that goes beyond
- 14:27Speaker 1: your understanding. And in order to do that, you have
- 14:32Speaker 1: to be connected to Jesus. It's as simple as that.
- 14:39Speaker 1: If you don't accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I know how it feels to live like that. It's
- 14:53Speaker 1: better on this side. This is the Ember, soho your
- 14:55Speaker 1: host Ember. Thank you for pressing play and come back
- 14:58Speaker 1: next episode.
