Plato is the only ancient source for Atlantis, and no geological or archaeological evidence for a sunken land has been found, so a real Atlantis is Unverified. Most classicists we consulted read it as Plato's invention, though that cannot be proven, so it is Disputed. The Thera eruption is real and dated to the 17th or 16th century BC, but nothing in the texts ties it to Plato's tale, which he set about 9600 BC.
