- 0:13Speaker 1: If the gut is tied to so many health issues,
- 0:16Speaker 1: then what we put into it matters more than we think.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Every day, people consume foods and even supplements that may
- 0:23Speaker 1: be working against their health while searching for answers via
- 0:26Speaker 1: diet trends, nutritional supports, and even medications. But what if
- 0:31Speaker 1: real healing starts somewhere more foundational. What if it turns
- 0:35Speaker 1: out that food is truly medicine. Today's guest is here
- 0:39Speaker 1: to reveal the truth about gut health and what many
- 0:41Speaker 1: practitioners may be missing when it comes to restoring it.

- 1:56Speaker 1: with what we're doing as we spend week two now
- 1:58Speaker 1: unpacking one of the benchmarks the foundational points of health
- 2:03Speaker 1: that a lot of practitioners completely overlook, and that is
- 2:06Speaker 1: the health of the gut and all of its downstream labels,
- 2:10Speaker 1: things like fibromyalgia, arthritis, autoimmunity, digestive disorders, acid reflux, gird,
- 2:18Speaker 1: thyroid dysfunction, migraines, hormonal imbalances. The list goes on and
- 2:23Speaker 1: on and on. These are all things that at the
- 2:26Speaker 1: very least, Doctor Rachel Schuck can be dramatically impacted by
- 2:31Speaker 1: way of the gut, for the better or the worse,
- 2:33Speaker 1: depending on how you're taking care of your body. In
- 2:36Speaker 1: our last conversation, we talked about how the gut impacts
- 2:40Speaker 1: metabolic health. I'd like to go a little bit deeper
- 2:42Speaker 1: this week. How do everyday food choices either damage or
- 2:47Speaker 1: support the gut when you're dealing with clients, what do
- 2:50Speaker 1: you see walking in through the door constantly.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I'm going to back up a little bit too part
- 2:55Speaker 2: of that with the metabolic health, yes, and how the
- 2:57Speaker 2: food either supports us or you know, it either nourish
- 3:00Speaker 2: us or it depletes us.
- 3:02Speaker 3: There's really kind of no in between.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And with the metabolic health, I think really trying to
- 3:07Speaker 2: tie this together for people so they understand a little
- 3:10Speaker 2: bit more the direct influence.
- 3:11Speaker 3: A lot of people are walking.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Around with blood sugar issues. I mean that's really common.
- 3:15Speaker 2: You know, insulin resistance is kind of where that's all
- 3:18Speaker 2: very intricately connected. If we are eating foods that nourish us,
- 3:22Speaker 2: there's a bacteria in our gut that is really beneficial.
- 3:25Speaker 2: We call it Pediacoccus pantasassius. But if it's in your
- 3:29Speaker 2: gut when you eat food, that particular bacteria is going
- 3:32Speaker 2: to eat the glucose inside of the intestinal lumine, which
- 3:36Speaker 2: means it's not going to hit your bloodstream. So the
- 3:38Speaker 2: more we're eating foods that nourish us, that work with
- 3:41Speaker 2: our body, the better our body metabolically is supported, if
- 3:45Speaker 2: that makes sense. And so now kind of moving from
- 3:48Speaker 2: that question. A lot of what I see people coming
- 3:50Speaker 2: into my office is they're eating the ultra process refined carbohydrates.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And if someone's not sure what that looks like, your biscuits,
- 3:57Speaker 2: your pancakes, your cake, your donuts, a lot of the breads,
- 4:00Speaker 2: anything that's kind of that enriched wheat flour thing. You're
- 4:04Speaker 2: eating a product that's been heavily stripped of how it
- 4:06Speaker 2: was designed to be eaten. We've removed the fiber, we've
- 4:09Speaker 2: removed the pieces that help work in the digestion track,
- 4:13Speaker 2: and now one of our biggest detoxification pathways, which is
- 4:18Speaker 2: through the gut, now we've fed it things that can
- 4:21Speaker 2: actually block detoxification. So you may be doing a really
- 4:25Speaker 2: great liver cleanse, but if you're not having a bowel
- 4:29Speaker 2: movement every day, then all you're doing is pushing that
- 4:32Speaker 2: into the intestines and is recirculating into the bloodstream. And
- 4:36Speaker 2: so what I say to my clients is you have
- 4:38Speaker 2: to start with the end in mind.
- 4:40Speaker 3: You're rear my dear.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Like, why do I feel like Billy Coppy is just
- 4:45Speaker 1: going to make a T shirt up?
- 4:49Speaker 2: The people that are coming into my practice. What I
- 4:52Speaker 2: see over and over and over again, is they come in,
- 4:54Speaker 2: they're frustrated. They say, but I eat healthy. Why am
- 4:58Speaker 2: I not getting these results? And then when you really
- 5:00Speaker 2: when you start going through their food diary, because my
- 5:03Speaker 2: clients have to keep a food diary. If they don't,
- 5:05Speaker 2: I'm working in the dark. I don't know what the
- 5:07Speaker 2: inputs are, right, and then I need to know what
- 5:09Speaker 2: the outputs are too.
- 5:10Speaker 3: That's a whole other topic.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But what I see over and over is they're buying
- 5:15Speaker 2: these foods that are been I think the word now
- 5:18Speaker 2: is greenwashed. You know, we've been told it's organic sugar.
- 5:21Speaker 3: It's still sugar.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Her I got you like gluten free.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Eggs, right, it's they're labeling in the marketing.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It's so it's just it's.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Out of control. And then also a lot of times
- 5:33Speaker 2: people don't realize they're not eating right for themselves. If
- 5:36Speaker 2: I have a woman come in with, you know, severe
- 5:38Speaker 2: adrenal fatigue, she's probably not the person who should be
- 5:41Speaker 2: cutting carbs, right, that's not her problem. If you come
- 5:44Speaker 2: into me and see me and you have severe insulin resistance,
- 5:48Speaker 2: then we are going to work on carbohydrate intake. Everyone
- 5:51Speaker 2: is a little different. There's so much bio individuality with that,
- 5:54Speaker 2: and then a lot of the people are eating. You know,
- 5:57Speaker 2: it's hard not to. So I'm not there's no judgment,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and I'm guilty of eating this food too, But we're
- 6:01Speaker 2: eating food that has been sprayed with essentially antibiotics. I mean,
- 6:06Speaker 2: if you think about what glyphasate is, at its core,
- 6:10Speaker 2: it's an antibiotic. So we know that's all over our
- 6:13Speaker 2: wheat products. I'm like, do people have a wheat allergy
- 6:15Speaker 2: or do they have a glypha state problem? And I
- 6:17Speaker 2: don't know right it's probably a combination of the two.
- 6:20Speaker 2: You know, one other pesticide doesn't get mentioned. A lot gluposeyinate.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Same at the end of the day, spray on a
- 6:26Speaker 2: lot of crops. It's an antibiotic. We are disrupting our
- 6:30Speaker 2: guts with our food, with our medication, with our water,
- 6:33Speaker 2: all the different things. So this is kind of what
- 6:35Speaker 2: I see when my clients come in. And I'm also
- 6:37Speaker 2: super realistic. We're never going to get it perfect, but
- 6:41Speaker 2: we can. Our bodies are so smart. If we can
- 6:43Speaker 2: get it right just enough, the healing can happen.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you see so many fads also eat paleo, eat this,
- 6:50Speaker 1: eat that. There's a Hebrew diet. Now, my question is,
- 6:54Speaker 1: because I know this is very important to you food
- 6:56Speaker 1: variety people walking into clinic, Well, I've tried everything. In fact,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm really limiting my food. I only eat these seven
- 7:02Speaker 1: things that could be detrimental too, right, long.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Term, I don't love that.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I think if you're having to continuously limit your foods now,
- 7:12Speaker 2: ultra processed foods always need to go. Those aren't really foods, right,
- 7:15Speaker 2: But if you're having to continuously limit your foods, I
- 7:18Speaker 2: my sentiment to that is maybe the true healing hasn't
- 7:21Speaker 2: fully happened. So I do get people that come in
- 7:25Speaker 2: they really truly can't do fiber. Their guts have been
- 7:28Speaker 2: so disrupted. So first we have to work on healing
- 7:32Speaker 2: the gut. Then we can start adding the fiber back in.
- 7:35Speaker 2: But yeah, at the end of the day, we want
- 7:37Speaker 2: to get meat.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Products are gonna be really good at giving you.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Your amino acids. They're gonna be the best at that, right,
- 7:42Speaker 2: they're even better at minerals. But if we're not eighting plants, well,
- 7:45Speaker 2: where's your phyto nutrients?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Right?
- 7:47Speaker 3: And those are the things that we don't even know
- 7:48Speaker 3: what they do yet.
- 7:49Speaker 2: We're not that we're not God, we don't know, right,
- 7:53Speaker 2: but they're there and we're no that they are beneficial
- 7:56Speaker 2: when we start researching each individual thing. So the point
- 7:59Speaker 2: is to get to a healing place of where you
- 8:01Speaker 2: don't need to follow a fad or a trend or
- 8:03Speaker 2: a restricted diet.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Look, I know that we're talking really quick and we're
- 8:07Speaker 1: kind of jumping from gut health and last week we
- 8:09Speaker 1: talked about liver health and how you know, not having
- 8:11Speaker 1: a gallbladder is maybe more important than what you've been
- 8:14Speaker 1: told it is. And enzymes and you know, the way
- 8:16Speaker 1: that your body needs hydrochloric acid to be able to
- 8:19Speaker 1: break down food so PPIs maybe devastate the process of absorption.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Go back last week because we really did talk about
- 8:25Speaker 1: a lot of things that we're probably not going to
- 8:27Speaker 1: relitigate today. But for those that missed it, or for
- 8:31Speaker 1: those watching this program that want to know, okay, okay, okay,
- 8:33Speaker 1: doctor Rachel Shuck, you've compelled me, I get it. Gut
- 8:36Speaker 1: health is a super important area of health that no
- 8:38Speaker 1: one's talking about. What does that actually look like day
- 8:40Speaker 1: to day in very practical ways for the layperson that's
- 8:43Speaker 1: just learning.
- 8:44Speaker 2: About this, what it looks like day to day, especially
- 8:46Speaker 2: for my clients, is slow but steady wins the race.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Have a lot of people come in who are taking
- 8:51Speaker 2: massive doses of probiotics or trying to just shove a
- 8:54Speaker 2: whole bunch of probiotic rich foods, you know, down their
- 8:56Speaker 2: gullet and.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Down their gullet. I have said that so many times.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I love it.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Go ahead, Okay, the body needs sometimes to have time
- 9:06Speaker 2: to adapt, and a lot of what I do with
- 9:08Speaker 2: people is if we need to replenish the gut microbiome
- 9:12Speaker 2: because they've taken antibiotics, they've been exposed to other you know,
- 9:15Speaker 2: glyph esate all of those.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Things we're going to do.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Sometimes we start with a teaspoon of day of some
- 9:20Speaker 2: sour crowd juice, like we're not going to go crazy.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And one of the biggest things I have found for
- 9:25Speaker 2: healing the gut lightning, because a lot of people, as
- 9:28Speaker 2: we mentioned in the previous episode, have that intestinal permeabilities
- 9:31Speaker 2: of that leaky gut. I'm a huge fan of using
- 9:34Speaker 2: meat stock. In fact, I have a YouTube video that
- 9:36Speaker 2: shows you how to make it in like seven minutes.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Once you do it, it's so simple, it's so easy,
- 9:41Speaker 2: and it's so nourishing. So that's another way that I
- 9:44Speaker 2: help people kind of take it day by day. We're
- 9:46Speaker 2: not doing anything crazy, and I'm not giving you a
- 9:49Speaker 2: protocol that has twenty five steps. Sure you're going to
- 9:52Speaker 2: sit down with me one on one and we're going
- 9:53Speaker 2: to say, Okay, what can you do right now? And
- 9:56Speaker 2: how consistent can we be with that? Come back and
- 9:58Speaker 2: see me next time, and we'll add the next.
- 10:00Speaker 1: For people unfamiliar, when you say meat stock, remember we're
- 10:03Speaker 1: talking to a general audience. Maybe not everybody follows like
- 10:07Speaker 1: holistic health leanings or teachings. What do you mean by
- 10:09Speaker 1: meat stock? And if they wanted to get started, obviously
- 10:11Speaker 1: you have a website where you can kind of explain
- 10:13Speaker 1: that in more detail.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, yeah, check out my YouTube. There is a
- 10:16Speaker 2: meat stock video on how to make it. But one
- 10:19Speaker 2: thing I do run into is a lot of times
- 10:20Speaker 2: my clients will say, oh, yeah, I make bone broth
- 10:22Speaker 2: all the time. No, no, no, no, they're not the same.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Bone broth is different than meat stock. So meat stock
- 10:28Speaker 2: is going to be very like gelatinous, and we don't
- 10:31Speaker 2: cook it nearly as long. It's a three to four
- 10:33Speaker 2: hour cook in a Dutch oven.
- 10:34Speaker 3: It's not.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You know, bone broth is eighteen plus hours. The thing
- 10:39Speaker 2: I like about the meat stock is it's a lot
- 10:42Speaker 2: I would call it gentler, and for people with histamine issues,
- 10:45Speaker 2: it's also lower in histamine. Some people with hissamine still
- 10:49Speaker 2: can't even do meat stock, so kind of depends on
- 10:52Speaker 2: where they are in that journey. But when I'm talking
- 10:54Speaker 2: about cooking and making meat stock, I'm talking about you're
- 10:56Speaker 2: throwing a whole chicken, You're throwing in some chicken feet,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and then you open that thing up, you're like, oh,
- 11:03Speaker 2: but it's very healing and very nursing, and you don't
- 11:05Speaker 2: have to use chicken.
- 11:06Speaker 3: You can also make it with bee for fish or lamb.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Friends. We're going to bring her YouTube up on the
- 11:10Speaker 1: screen right now for you so you know exactly where
- 11:12Speaker 1: to follow up if you want to learn more about
- 11:14Speaker 1: meat stocks and how to prepare food like that. That
- 11:16Speaker 1: might be very nurishing to the gut. Beyond food though, Rachel,
- 11:19Speaker 1: you know people that think this is all just about
- 11:21Speaker 1: swallowing down their gullet, probiotics, fermented foods, other things. Maybe
- 11:28Speaker 1: lifestyle yesserle.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Right, it, yes, lifestyle matters. We cannot separate all of
- 11:33Speaker 2: these things. My tagline is food is medicine. But when
- 11:36Speaker 2: people are sitting in my office we're talking about everything.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Everything for me often goes back to the gut. Even
- 11:41Speaker 2: of like I said, I it's not the root cause
- 11:43Speaker 2: we still have to make sure that's healthy. If you
- 11:45Speaker 2: get out in the sunlight, that's actually going to help
- 11:47Speaker 2: increase the diversity and the number of microbes in your gut.
- 11:52Speaker 3: We know when you.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Get exposed to sunlight and that vitamin D production happens,
- 11:56Speaker 2: that vitamin D can help prepare the gut lighting and
- 11:58Speaker 2: it's super anti inflammatory. So that's we know that sunshine
- 12:04Speaker 2: is important. We also know movement can improve the gut microbiome.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Exercise is important. I say, listen, get the best of
- 12:12Speaker 2: both world and go outside and exercise if you can,
- 12:16Speaker 2: if you're ready and willing, because also some people are
- 12:18Speaker 2: so bad off they're not ready yet. But everyone can
- 12:20Speaker 2: go sit in the sun for five minutes. A lot
- 12:22Speaker 2: of people spend a lot of money on supplements which
- 12:26Speaker 2: have to go through the digestive tract. If we don't
- 12:28Speaker 2: have a healed, healthy digestive tract, it's not going to
- 12:30Speaker 2: get into the blood. If your digestive tract is good
- 12:33Speaker 2: and it gets into the blood, which is your delivery highway.
- 12:37Speaker 2: What kind of delivery system do you have if you
- 12:38Speaker 2: can't move the blood around. If it's not moving, you're
- 12:43Speaker 2: not delivering as well as you could. And this is
- 12:45Speaker 2: where the exercise piece also comes in.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Well, ladies and gentlemen, if you're brand new here to
- 12:49Speaker 1: life TV now, you probably don't know that this conversation
- 12:52Speaker 1: is very, very personal to me as someone whose origin
- 12:56Speaker 1: story really comes out of terrible, terrible autoimmunity in twenty
- 13:00Speaker 1: seven plus years of struggling to digest anything, that there
- 13:04Speaker 1: was a point in my life in my late twenties
- 13:06Speaker 1: early thirties, doctor Rachel, where I was afraid to swallow anything.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I had given up on all foods. It was all
- 13:13Speaker 1: going to tear me apart. And I said to God, like,
- 13:16Speaker 1: if you would just fill me with dark matter that
- 13:18Speaker 1: made me not hungry for all of life, I'll just
- 13:20Speaker 1: do that. I don't want to eat no more. And
- 13:22Speaker 1: they were telling me, you know, the genetic stories and
- 13:25Speaker 1: this is all about you know, maybe your father or
- 13:27Speaker 1: your mother has passed down to you something we don't
- 13:29Speaker 1: really know what causes all of this. Some people just
- 13:31Speaker 1: suffer like this, and so the management was ninety day
- 13:34Speaker 1: rounds of cipromax antibiotics to deal with chronic infection of diverticulitis. Now,
- 13:40Speaker 1: if you're unfamiliar, this is a catastrophic dismantling of everything
- 13:44Speaker 1: that your God exists. To do is to pound it
- 13:47Speaker 1: with antibiotics the way I did. The other thing is,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you know, eventually this leads to me having half of
- 13:52Speaker 1: my colon cut out because they're going to cut out
- 13:55Speaker 1: the diseased portions of the diverticulosis and I'm going to
- 13:58Speaker 1: get my life back. And I got to tell you.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I walked in and the surgeon very nice man. And
- 14:02Speaker 1: if you're gonna have half of your colon cut out
- 14:04Speaker 1: in the state of Missouri, this guy was the best. Okay,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I'm not disparaging him. He really wanted to see me. Well.
- 14:09Speaker 1: This is not a disparaging statement about allopathic medicine or
- 14:12Speaker 1: the surgeons that exist to do the work that they do.
- 14:15Speaker 1: It wasn't right for me at all. I came out
- 14:17Speaker 1: of that surgery. I was much worse than before I
- 14:20Speaker 1: walked in, and I had a catalog. I don't know
- 14:22Speaker 1: if you guys have ever experienced this When people are
- 14:25Speaker 1: talking you towards a surgery doctor, Rachel Shuck, and they
- 14:29Speaker 1: show me pictures of an MMA fighter with a colostomy bag.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I'm not joking in the cage. But then he's got
- 14:35Speaker 1: this thing covering his hole, and then later he's all
- 14:38Speaker 1: buff and he's got this colostomy back. There's a model
- 14:41Speaker 1: walking on the beach with a little colostomy bag. I've
- 14:44Speaker 1: got people in the audience laughing out loud. I don't
- 14:46Speaker 1: know if you can hear that. And she's got a
- 14:47Speaker 1: little heart shaped almost looks like a cute little tattoo
- 14:50Speaker 1: on her colostomy back. And basically what they're doing is
- 14:53Speaker 1: they're trying to show me that even in a worst
- 14:55Speaker 1: case scenario, if I lose all of my colon for
- 14:58Speaker 1: all of life, or if I have to live on
- 15:00Speaker 1: a colostomy bag, I can still have a great life.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Now I know people on colostomy bags the reality is
- 15:07Speaker 1: a lot more difficult for them than what was advertised.
- 15:10Speaker 1: And again, none of this addresses the underlying root cause.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So listen when I tell you this is very personal
- 15:15Speaker 1: to me, and that gut health is a paramount, paramount
- 15:19Speaker 1: what is the word? It is of paramount importance to
- 15:23Speaker 1: your capacity to thrive and to live well. This is
- 15:25Speaker 1: very personal to me, and that's why I want to
- 15:27Speaker 1: tell you about my book time Bomb and Companion DVD
- 15:30Speaker 1: that covers everything for how modern industrialized food, environmental factors,
- 15:34Speaker 1: and today's dietary patterns is affecting the health of upwards
- 15:38Speaker 1: of eighty percent of Americans. It also goes a step
- 15:41Speaker 1: further into how these same factors may be disrupting gut health, digestion,
- 15:45Speaker 1: and the body's natural balance, and why restoring gut function
- 15:48Speaker 1: and improving what we're putting into our bodies in the
- 15:51Speaker 1: first place can be a foundational part of rebuilding overall wellness.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It's a detailed educational book along with Companion DVD, filled

- 16:21Speaker 1: Visit edensessentials dot com get my book my DVD. I
- 16:25Speaker 1: poured my soul into this to make it the most
- 16:27Speaker 1: easy to understand way to deal with gut health, the
- 16:31Speaker 1: questions about probiotics, hormonal health. I talked about my own
- 16:34Speaker 1: personal journey a little bit, all of the stuff that
- 16:36Speaker 1: people are doing to manage things like gird epididomitis, prostate issues.
- 16:41Speaker 1: But it has very practical information, Doctor Rachel. About navigating
- 16:45Speaker 1: the grocery store, I don't know how often you get this.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Clients walk in and they say, well, I can't afford
- 16:51Speaker 1: to take these supplements. I can't afford to eat clean.
- 16:55Speaker 1: You know, I can get inexpensive foods for dollars. This
- 16:58Speaker 1: other stuff is over ten dollars in the The price disparity
- 17:01Speaker 1: is not something I can overcome. So I have to
- 17:03Speaker 1: do what I have to do, and first, very generically,
- 17:07Speaker 1: what you really can't afford to do is end up
- 17:09Speaker 1: in a health cataclysm. If you don't invest in your health,
- 17:13Speaker 1: if you don't make it a priority, you will pay
- 17:16Speaker 1: for it later one way or another.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And without health, I mean, there is no wealth without health.
- 17:22Speaker 4: Doctor Rachel. I'm really encouraged because so many times I
- 17:25Speaker 4: have heard from clinical nutritionists and they'll say things like,
- 17:29Speaker 4: you don't need to supplement.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Food will give you all that you need.
- 17:33Speaker 4: You can do your healing with food alone. But I
- 17:36Speaker 4: don't think they're taking into account the state of the
- 17:39Speaker 4: typical Americans gut health. I don't think they're taking into
- 17:42Speaker 4: account the depletion of our top soil and how our
- 17:46Speaker 4: foods nowadays are full of much less nutrients than they
- 17:49Speaker 4: were fifty or one hundred years ago. And so I'm
- 17:51Speaker 4: really encouraged to hear you say things like sometimes you
- 17:55Speaker 4: have to supplement to get that little bit of extra help.
- 17:58Speaker 3: One hundred percent.
- 17:59Speaker 2: And I do you always try to take a food
- 18:03Speaker 2: first approach. That's always the first step. But just like
- 18:05Speaker 2: you said, our soil being depleted, I don't know anybody
- 18:08Speaker 2: who's getting the right amount of magnesium.
- 18:11Speaker 3: It's really hard to.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Live in the US and get that quality or quantity
- 18:15Speaker 2: that we need. So sometimes supplements are necessary, and it's
- 18:19Speaker 2: just an unfortunate part of that.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I think.
- 18:21Speaker 2: You know, what I wrote in my book is that
- 18:22Speaker 2: the unglamorous truth lies somewhere in the middle. You get
- 18:25Speaker 2: the doctors who are like, oh, it's just expensive urine,
- 18:27Speaker 2: and then you get the you know, other like natural
- 18:31Speaker 2: practitioners who say, take twenty five different supplements all at once,
- 18:34Speaker 2: and the reality is most people probably need something that's
- 18:37Speaker 2: going to just balance them out. Sure, and that's going
- 18:40Speaker 2: to be very individual.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so you're writing a book.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not out yet, but if you know, if
- 18:45Speaker 2: someone wants to find it when it's ready, and I'm
- 18:47Speaker 2: hoping by the end of the year, come to my website,
- 18:50Speaker 2: subscribe to my email list. In the meantime, you'll get
- 18:52Speaker 2: lots of interesting information, and when the book's ready, I'll
- 18:54Speaker 2: shoot out a message.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I want to tell you too that we had a
- 18:57Speaker 1: chance to get an exclusive reader only copy and digit
- 19:01Speaker 1: I had staff go through that book and now they
- 19:03Speaker 1: are telling me, Joe, this is the greatest book ever.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And they're sitting right here today like nodding along with me.
- 19:09Speaker 1: This is a book that we are very much in
- 19:11Speaker 1: anticipation of. I want to also ask Rachel if somebody's
- 19:20Speaker 1: watching this program and they really love what you're saying,
- 19:22Speaker 1: and they just but they've got more questions because obviously
- 19:25Speaker 1: these shows cannot be tailored to the bioindividual viewer. Sometimes
- 19:30Speaker 1: people will learn something profound and it'll be the one
- 19:32Speaker 1: little nugget that we just drive by and it's the
- 19:35Speaker 1: one thing they grasp onto and they go research and
- 19:37Speaker 1: it's paradigm shifting. We pray for that. But a lot
- 19:40Speaker 1: of times, you know, people do need kind of professional intervention,
- 19:45Speaker 1: they need coaching. They're in over their heads. There's a
- 19:47Speaker 1: lot of reading. They themselves don't have a background in academia.
- 19:50Speaker 1: They don't know how to read scientific journals and make
- 19:52Speaker 1: that translate today themselves. If somebody wanted to reach out
- 19:56Speaker 1: to you, you do remote I do a lot of doctors. Yeah, okay,
- 20:01Speaker 1: how would somebody follow up with you?
- 20:03Speaker 2: I'm really easy to find. My website is doctor shuck
- 20:06Speaker 2: dot com.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Okay, we'll put that up on the screen so you
- 20:09Speaker 1: know exactly where to go.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Phone numbers on their email contacts on there, all of
- 20:12Speaker 2: that's on there. And you know, I also want to say,
- 20:14Speaker 2: when you said that about you know, people don't maybe
- 20:17Speaker 2: know how to read the scientific journals.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I got a lie of clients who probably actually do
- 20:21Speaker 3: know how to read those. They don't have the time.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I'm going to hire an attorney if I need legal
- 20:26Speaker 2: work done, because could I go eventually figure it out myself? Yeah,
- 20:29Speaker 2: I could fumble my way through it, But my goodness,
- 20:32Speaker 2: that would be nuts when I could just, you know,
- 20:35Speaker 2: have the expert who's already done the research, has the practice,
- 20:38Speaker 2: knows what works, knows what doesn't.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Clients that are coming to you, what are they saying?
- 20:42Speaker 1: What are some of your experiences When you have people
- 20:44Speaker 1: walk in. I'm assuming that a lot of your clients
- 20:47Speaker 1: have done the allopathic medicine train. They feel like they're
- 20:50Speaker 1: and I'm sure one of the opening moves Rachel is
- 20:52Speaker 1: I've tried everything right. It seems like a lot of
- 20:55Speaker 1: my practitioner friends, that's one of the opening statements. They
- 20:58Speaker 1: get a lot as I've tried everything, they're almost turning
- 21:00Speaker 1: to natural medicine is kind of a last hope, like
- 21:03Speaker 1: I've done everything else, nothing works. Can you fix me?
- 21:06Speaker 1: Or can this thing work? You're seeing good results, You're
- 21:10Speaker 1: seeing natural medicine payoff. You're seeing people willing to take
- 21:12Speaker 1: the personal responsibility.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Yes right, yes, advocate.
- 21:16Speaker 1: For themselves to do the work. What kind of outcomes
- 21:19Speaker 1: you see.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I see a lot of people who have IBS issues,
- 21:22Speaker 2: So that's ertel bal syndrome. Whether it's the constipation, whether
- 21:25Speaker 2: it's the diarrhea, whether it's the mix of the two
- 21:28Speaker 2: we can very often those get resolved when we remove
- 21:32Speaker 2: the medications and we heal the gut. That is something
- 21:35Speaker 2: huge I see all the time. The other piece to
- 21:38Speaker 2: that that I see in a lot of clients is
- 21:40Speaker 2: the blood share issues get fixed when we clean up
- 21:42Speaker 2: the diet. They're no longer needing diabetic medication, they're no
- 21:45Speaker 2: longer needing to you know, pop all the other medications
- 21:49Speaker 2: that come along with that. Kind of a fun, little
- 21:51Speaker 2: one off story. I have a client who is so
- 21:54Speaker 2: proud of his toenail fungus going away and this was
- 21:58Speaker 2: just a sign of it. But when you have high
- 21:59Speaker 2: blood sugar fungal infections, that's where they live, they thrive.
- 22:02Speaker 3: So he's sent me pictures. He's like, look at this growth.
- 22:05Speaker 2: This is the new clear piece, and look how good
- 22:07Speaker 2: my metabolism now you can see.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And I think I'm gonna make a video on that.
- 22:11Speaker 1: But I do know what you mean though. People have
- 22:15Speaker 1: sent me pictures. Yeah, and ones that I didn't solicit
- 22:18Speaker 1: for and it's what's still in the porcelain, thrown after
- 22:21Speaker 1: they had a momentum. Yeah, what do you make of this? Man?
- 22:23Speaker 1: What do I gotta do? Okay? And I would love
- 22:28Speaker 1: to tell you I'm unbothered by it. But we have
- 22:30Speaker 1: some great doctors. Doctor Ann Hines, she's a great doctor.
- 22:33Speaker 1: She's a naturopath. She has said the same thing. You know,
- 22:35Speaker 1: you're if you're in practicing natural medicine of any kind whatsoever,
- 22:38Speaker 1: you're gonna get pictures. Yeah, it's just a side effect.
- 22:40Speaker 1: People want you to see their progress or the problem
- 22:43Speaker 1: they had.
- 22:43Speaker 2: I did have one client who drank beats and had
- 22:46Speaker 2: a huge freak out. Because of course, you don't unless
- 22:49Speaker 2: you've done it, you don't know that that's going to
- 22:50Speaker 2: look like a bloody stool.
- 22:52Speaker 3: That was what I didn't want.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Yeah, a moment ago, you mentioned medications and getting them
- 22:58Speaker 1: off of medications, and you'll have people want the show
- 23:00Speaker 1: say immediately, well, there are certain medications I just can't
- 23:03Speaker 1: live without, and I'm done with this. My doctor has
- 23:05Speaker 1: made it very clear I will literally cease to exist
- 23:08Speaker 1: if I don't have these medications. And I'm not asking
- 23:10Speaker 1: you to blanket, shotgun blast a television audience irresponsibly with
- 23:14Speaker 1: some generic advice like, yes, get off all of your medications,
- 23:18Speaker 1: but a lot of medications damage our ability to receive nourishment,
- 23:22Speaker 1: which just make our problems worse, but we are told
- 23:25Speaker 1: we cannot live without them. Yeah, you think that some
- 23:28Speaker 1: of these medications may be contributing to people's issues, right.
- 23:32Speaker 2: I absolutely do, And I think one of the best
- 23:35Speaker 2: things people can do for themselves is become informed. Take
- 23:39Speaker 2: out the product monograph and read what it says this
- 23:43Speaker 2: medication is doing to you. Because a lot of people
- 23:47Speaker 2: think this is healing them. Symptom suppression is not healing.
- 23:51Speaker 2: And the other thing that happens. I will get people
- 23:54Speaker 2: come into my office who have researched oxolates, lectans, fightates.
- 23:57Speaker 2: They're afraid I'm going to ask them to eat foods
- 24:00Speaker 2: contain these naturally occurring chemicals. But they will pop a
- 24:03Speaker 2: pharmaceutical pill for twenty plus years because they trust And
- 24:07Speaker 2: I understand because the trust has been built because they
- 24:09Speaker 2: trust their doctor and they think it can't hurt them.
- 24:12Speaker 2: And everything that goes into our body is going to
- 24:14Speaker 2: impact us.
- 24:16Speaker 3: You know that's exactly right.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, No, you're right. A lot of people and I
- 24:21Speaker 1: see this. Can I deal with the church for just
- 24:23Speaker 1: a minute, Is that okay? But the church is the
- 24:26Speaker 1: self proclaimed body of Christ. A lot of them meet
- 24:29Speaker 1: inside of four walls painted white with a cross in
- 24:31Speaker 1: the front of the building. And people that are leading
- 24:34Speaker 1: these churches, folks, they have no knowledge whatsoever of metabolic
- 24:39Speaker 1: health or gut health. Nothing. Right, They're on two to
- 24:42Speaker 1: three medications, maybe they're pre diabetic or type two diabetic,
- 24:46Speaker 1: or they've got all kinds they're taking, you know, pills
- 24:48Speaker 1: for weight loss or injections for weight loss. And yet
- 24:51Speaker 1: they will go talk about the Temple of the Holy Spirit, right, yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: And I'm not mocking. This is the point I'm making.
- 24:59Speaker 1: There is a knowledge disparity here that has been a
- 25:02Speaker 1: part of our culture for so many decades, that people
- 25:06Speaker 1: take for granted completely what health actually looks like, because
- 25:10Speaker 1: they think it's eating three meals a day from the
- 25:12Speaker 1: four food groups and taking your medications. When you get
- 25:14Speaker 1: to that age where the doctor says these are normal
- 25:17Speaker 1: things and now we're going to manage disease and decline,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and they will drive straight to a buffet after church
- 25:23Speaker 1: and drink diet sodas and you know, pastries on the
- 25:27Speaker 1: side and all the various carbs that they want and
- 25:31Speaker 1: all the way to capacity. When they can't go like
- 25:34Speaker 1: this and push any more food past their thyroid they're full,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and that's their relationship to health. Yeah, do you see that?
- 25:41Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:42Speaker 2: I think they truly they don't know any about art.
- 25:44Speaker 1: They don't.
- 25:45Speaker 2: There's no judgment there. And I actually want to kind
- 25:47Speaker 2: of go back to that because I get a lot
- 25:49Speaker 2: of comments with I mentioned like the oxylates and the
- 25:52Speaker 2: phytates and the e lectins, and I get a lot
- 25:54Speaker 2: of people who get very worked up about that special
- 25:57Speaker 2: on social media, and there's so much again not knowing.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Our guts, naturally are designed to contain a bacteria called
- 26:05Speaker 2: oxalobacter forma genes. It's there to break down oxalates in
- 26:09Speaker 2: our food. But when we've wiped out our gut, now
- 26:13Speaker 2: we can't eat foods that we were designed to eat.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Do you think that's why so many people end up
- 26:17Speaker 1: with food sensitivities?
- 26:19Speaker 2: Oh?
- 26:19Speaker 3: I absolutely think that's.
- 26:20Speaker 1: They eliminate it, Yeah, like two or three things, and
- 26:22Speaker 1: then but then they can't eat and then a year later,
- 26:25Speaker 1: you know, they now they can't eat this thing, and
- 26:27Speaker 1: then they eliminate that, and then six and now I'm
- 26:29Speaker 1: too sensitive, I can't even that, And pretty soon like
- 26:32Speaker 1: they've got this little itty bitty list of things. It's
- 26:34Speaker 1: their last bastion of anything, and.
- 26:36Speaker 2: To me, that's not healing. The goal is sometimes we
- 26:39Speaker 2: do have to take it down.
- 26:41Speaker 1: But then the good halftime.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the goal is to grow it back
- 26:44Speaker 2: out so that you are able to eat a variety
- 26:48Speaker 2: of foods and enjoy. We're meant to enjoy food. Food
- 26:51Speaker 2: is definitely a cultural community. Food is not bad, Food
- 26:55Speaker 2: is great. We just got to eat real food.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Food. The right food is medicine.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I think that's why Mike was so messed up because
- 27:01Speaker 4: of all the years of yo yo dieting. We're going
- 27:02Speaker 4: to do nine months of no carbs and now all
- 27:05Speaker 4: of a sudden, we're just gonna eat plant foods and
- 27:07Speaker 4: nothing else. And I was so all over the place.
- 27:10Speaker 4: And of course in the beginning, low fat and we're
- 27:13Speaker 4: counting calories and so I can see how this is
- 27:17Speaker 4: happening along with pesticides and antibiotics, and it's just accumulatively
- 27:22Speaker 4: affecting our guts today.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Rachel, It's been such a great time having
- 27:27Speaker 1: you here. It Life TV now, don't you guys love
- 27:29Speaker 1: Doctor Rachel Shuck. With about thirty seconds left, is there
- 27:35Speaker 1: anything you want to leave our viewers with?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Before we adjourn, I want people to know food truly
- 27:40Speaker 2: is medicine. But you are not what you eat, you
- 27:43Speaker 2: are what you absorb.
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's great. Couldn't have said it better myself. We will
- 27:50Speaker 1: have to have you back. We would have to have
- 27:52Speaker 1: you back at some point, ladies and gentlemen. Unfortunately we're
- 27:54Speaker 1: all out of time for everybody here in studio, Doctor
- 27:57Speaker 1: Rachel Shuck, Jamie, Well, thank you so much for being
- 28:00Speaker 1: right here at Life TV Now again this week. Keep
- 28:02Speaker 1: your eyes on the prize, which is Jesus Christ. We'll
- 28:05Speaker 1: be back
