- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: I love your Cleveland and I love you, Ohio.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_00]: Man, I'm very pleasant.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Thursday version of the Big Play Cleveland Show here live on YouTube.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: I am first trying to love with Matt Fontana and Ryan Tyler and it's great to have you with us.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: We've got plenty on the agenda today.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're actually going to begin our NFL divisional predictions.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do four divisions today and then four on next week's show preceding week one in the NFL campaign.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: We've got a lot of baseball for you, touch on college, football as well, and the latest on the
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to acknowledge that this past Monday, as I do every year, participate in the greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame, outing out at Kirkland Country Club, oh, Matt, that if you ever played Kirkland?
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: I've not played Kirkland.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: I have a friend that just doesn't want to invite me for some reason, but I have driven past Kirkland Country Club.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: That I can't believe you, he must be anti-social.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: But it was a great affair as it always is about the B. Icyo and John Talish formerly of Channel 8 put it on great to see so many old friends Rick Manning Mike Hargrove Tom Hamilton, Lenny Barker, Kevin Romberg and for Dixon from our own staff.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Felix Wright, good to see Felix again.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Andre Thunder Forten, Austin Carr, Chuck Kyle, of course the former head coach at the St. Ignatius.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Ellis Berks, had lunch with Curtis Danburg, vice president of the Guardians, and of course, Mike Snyder was there, great to see Mike, of course as well.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: So, great time had by all great fundraiser for the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: I want to start this week, fellas, with baseball.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, last night, Toronto shall lack the Guardians 11 to nothing, following an opening win.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the Guardians have been playing pretty good ball.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Even with the loss, we're still three behind because the white socks got beat last night.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: Three behind in the division, we're a game and a half ahead of
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: Toronto, Texas, and Baltimore, as far as that third and final wildcard spot, but you know, Dylan Sees is probably going to win the Si Young Award here in the American League and he showed why last night.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Six innings, no runs, four hits, no walks, four strikeouts.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: In 2026, this season, he's ten and five.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: with a 2.25 ERA in a 156 and a third innings of work.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: He has struck out 221.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: He has a 1.04 whip that's walks and hits per innings pitched and he has an OBA of that's opposing batting average.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: They're only hitting 176 against him.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: Joey Cantillo, Cantillo, has had a good year.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I like what he's done this year, but last night, five and a third, four earned runs, nine hits, two walks, six strikeouts.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, the second inning was the downfall, uh, uh, now with the, uh, terrible throwing air that brought in a couple of runs and then flat Guerrero, a teed off on a hanging breaking pitch by Cantillo.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: for the home run and the game was all for Intense and Purpose's over, but can't till $9.83.81, I'm satisfied with his work, that's for sure.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: But it was a tough loss, and of course tonight it's going to be Bibi versus Soriano.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's tough for us because now I mean, you know, it's just those little things of you can't for a moment have a lapse like that and then you just allow the blue jays to just take over from there you just lost your momentum you were basically chasing the game from there on out and I mean again six runs that early there's really hard to come back from that anyway and you're right like I'm a Joe can't tell a fan it's like I want to give him an excuse there because not really his fault he could have gotten out of that inning you don't okay here you are
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: But it just kind of comes back to the same issue with the Guardians, the Bats.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: There's games that they show up.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's other games that they just get stifed.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: Now again, it is Dylan Cs.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let's not kid ourselves here.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's he's electric.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, but I was talking to Carlos yesterday, Bruce.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, we saw him plenty with the White Sox.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: There should be a pretty decent book on him, but a game that she had to have.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: I always say had to have, but it's like, I'm Scorpord watching Bruce.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: I am.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: The White Sox lost three out of their last before.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's a three and last four they've lost and we've gained a half a game.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was it like we can't that's We've got a big series coming up.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: I know and that's the three games.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and you feel about Perusos talking to Carlos about this I want to be within two games when we played them Carlos said one you want to switch within one when we see them in a couple of or not even a couple of weeks We can have you know, and addressing I know
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: We've got five full fledged rookies on this roster right now.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a growing pain.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if I said, I'm really looking forward the next year.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if we make the playoffs this year, that's a bonus because we're not going to win the penit.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be absolutely flabbergasted if that were the case.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: just to get into the playoffs will give these young plays a not just a rookies, but everybody else will give them the experience that you can't replace.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: There's no substitute for a major league experience, let alone playoff experience, and let me also acknowledge it is not thundering.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, they just took off.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: It is not fun.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they can hear it.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: And downtown Cleveland, okay.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: We can't.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: You take it.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: We certainly can.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: The air show, of course, is going to be because our studios are located in Burk Lake front, the airport and the state of the art studios.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: Big play has spirit.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to jump out there, Bruce.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Go jump in there.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: Just think I'll have to go for it.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I got into our position here on set last second, because we wanted to see him take off.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: And they didn't take off and do more in our monologue here.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be the blue angels just took off and they're going to be conduct.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care how old you are how many times you've seen it.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: It's so cool It is a cool thing you come to your show for 30 years in a row.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: You're like just awesome Before you came Ryan was saying well, I'm not really none into play.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, come on right it's a cool sunnid is that how I sounded Bruce?
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: They got them all they got this Well, I have a 10 is yeah, but yeah, but anyway, yeah, yeah, I got it back to the guy
- 6:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're going to hear him because they first pitches in an hour and where there was somebody over here talking, they're like, oh, yeah, they got practice started three.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: That is one of the coolest things is when the guardians are home, you know, for not even Labor Day weekend, but just even the practice because they're over their plane and they're doing their laps and they're doing their practice and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: But oh, it's distracting to them.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: We up in this guy.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's really cool.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: Years ago when I worked at WTA, the studios were downtown here.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: They were on, um,
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: They run west third and You got we were up on the top floor and we go on on the balcony and these guys would be the blue angel Practicing and it really looks like they're going through the downtown streets of Cleveland below the top of the building That's what it looks like
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: I live in West Park, Bruce, and I was out with my kids playing last year.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I swore was going to hit the trees in my neighborhood.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: But that's how close I literally, in my life, I have never seen a plane in the air that close.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: And they're just out there, they're practicing, which is a lot of fun.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, but I want to make comment.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_02]: You talked about the rookies and the experience for next year.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I think like you said, the five full-fledged rookies.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce, these guys aren't playing every third day either.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're their key contributors to this team that are going through it for the first time.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: And we've had plenty of conversations about next year, even the year after that in 2029.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: And all the these guys are all going to be here and just go with the
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: better right and going through this right now is frustrating and is when I see them you know lose games that way or if they don't make the playoffs which I don't think is going to happen our poll question is out you know you could go check it on on next on big play about where you're out with the guards like right now playoff percentage chance 53 percent it got as high as 57 it was as low as 27 a couple of weeks ago or a week or two ago
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: your most likely going to make the playoffs, which I understand.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I get that to your point.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to go in the pen, I'd love to make a deep playoff run, but just even these guys going through it to understand what September baseball is, a little taste of what October baseball is going to be like and how other teams adjust to you, how the game, I mean, Bruce, you know this, I, I, I, I, the conversation we could have in a whole podcast, but the change of the game,
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: in October.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: How you handle starters to relievers, to pinch hitters, to game situations, it is the intensity.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know a sport.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm being serious.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, hockey intensity steps up, but basketball football and hockey.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_02]: Nothing changes more in the playoffs than baseball in my opinion.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, it's the most exciting pocessing because every pitch is so intense and so exhilarating because, you know, whether it's a best of three or a best of five or a best of seven, there's no tomorrow when a lot of circumstances.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: You know what though, what I'm now going to say this week after getting a sample of this guy.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really glad of what the front office did with the moves before the deadline.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: We've got to resign Adele.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: This guy, even though he went over three last night, in 24 games there goes one, 11 extra base hits and an 815 OPS that's on base and slugging percentage combined, which is phenomenal.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: We've got to resign this guy, 14 games, 327 batting, average and 6RBI,
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's under contract thankfully for next year, but I would look for a long term one because again work stoppage.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: We've discussed that here on the show and that and I think another underlying thing on a lot of these deals of again Steven Quan back to maybe requiring a contract extension.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_02]: Do you look at one of these young guys and do that seven year?
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, 100 odds some for chased a lot or to eat up some arbitration years, but the thing is I say that say this, I think it's all going to change with the lockout with whatever comes out the other side of it, I do believe there will be a salary cap in baseball.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: So they're then there will be a salary floor.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, far from convinced.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Matt, but you got to open money, right?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Hope you're right.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing is, oh, and by the way, the transition from Dolan to Blitzner might be delayed because of a
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: correct.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's another part of that, too.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's Guardian's hierarchy, the other day in the Hall of Fame outing.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that could, if Blitzer, you know, Blitzer would be inheriting debt if there's a work stoppage.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if he would want to take over, right now it probably looks like at the end of 27 or 28 that it would be Blitzer, Dolan transitioning to Mr. Blitzer.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the other thing real quick to Bruce with a salary cap that could change valuations of franchises, too.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, because again, that's more money that you're going to have to put in, sort of the valuation of what the guardians is.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine that's pretty much agreed upon now.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that's, you know, that's pretty much right.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and then that's good.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's one big hurdle, but I can only, like we just saw staying cranky by the angels, right?
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I can't imagine, which I'm sure trout's happy about.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I can only, I bet.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the first thing he's like, new state team.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know that, that they have the fourth oldest stadium in baseball, and that's like, you know, Fenway, Fenway, Fenway, they gave him the early 80s with the late great Joe tank.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_00]: They were, they were playing in that state.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe that.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: You used to be the centerfield, and you could see the mountains beyond centerfield wall, and then they enclosed it, so you couldn't, but yeah, so Adele, I think, because
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: Especially with the protection of Jose.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, here's the other thing I want to say about a possible workstoppage, which really, really bothers me, considering this fine promising potential talent that we have with this young team.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: It will work their growth and development.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you a year.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: There's no there's no substitute for live pitch and you'll only take live BP go put a guy in second base with two outs and try to get that run in it just situational hitting and and for these guys to then start I think even more building a book on pictures.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: Right, we talked that about young players and young pitchers so much like they come up.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: They have great success in the first month.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: What do they always say?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, so they get a book on you and how you build that versus pitchers versus pitchers versus you.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_02]: That all is going to like you said, stunt the growth of some of these guys, which is just, you know, so unfortunate because like you said, I think we both agree.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's common, you know, the work stop it.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: You know, here's here's some some history.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Since 1996,
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: A hundred and forty of a hundred and seventy-four, eventual division champions held at least a share of their divisional lead, entering here the month of September.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, four of the six divisional leaders, Philadelphia, Toronto, Milwaukee, and the LA Dodgers,
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: in the American that they they led in the American League West Houston led, but they didn't even make it to the playoffs.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, here in the A.L.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: Central Detroit was leaning, but we staged the biggest, we were trailing by nine and a half games.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then it is many as 11 games and made major league baseball history.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: staging the greatest comeback ever.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: The 1995 L.A. Angels led by seven and a half games.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: And actually, by 11 major league history, seven and a half games, 1878 Boston led by six and a half in 06 Detroit 4 and a half and in 69, the Cubs 4 and a half.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I point that out, those teams did not make it to the playoffs.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the exceptions to the rule.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the Guardians, I mean, you're going to look at the schedule, the white socks you obviously have one series left, but they don't have all these crazy kind of juggernauts to play out their schedules relatively easy as well, and I get that, you know, it's hard because you want to play every division of opponent in the month, which is kind of way it's set up.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: But Carlos said something too about the session, Ryan, it's something like the East, like Er, who was it?
- 14:54[SPEAKER_02]: There's so many maybe it's Toronto like they're done with the Yankees the Red Sox like they don't have to play them again and go to September.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: How are you not playing your division.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think the whole month the September should be nothing but division games in my opinion, but here we are.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I feel they feel a little robbed because we only have the ones we have left the light.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_02]: ball more yeah that's you know what that's exactly who I'll Carl's talk about because he said Baltimore we got a watch them in the wild card because they don't have any series left against Toronto Boston or the Yankees that is we see that's crazy how was that to schedule in major league baseball I don't get it
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: You got to play the interlead game, so that's what we got to get those all in.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how it goes.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: All right, plenty coming up on today's show.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: We are going to do a half of the divisions on the NFL side of things to get you ready to go.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we got to get some college football in as well.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: But these were our Cleveland headlines brought to you by smart choice, baths.

- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: Great to have you back on the big play Cleveland show Thursday edition live on YouTube, Bruce Drenna, Matt Fontana, Ryan Tyler.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: We shift our attention out of the Cleveland bros. Let's get this story out of the way.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_00]: The Assistant General Manager of the Browns, Katherine Hickburn, Hickman, address the media and really same old front office responses to questions.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, we're preparing for Jacksonville.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_00]: Our attention is on Jacksonville.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: We gotta get ready for the start.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: the controversy or so called controversy.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm kind of torn on this.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_00]: I see both sides.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: She got ripped by a lot of fans and then some fans stood up for, but she wore a sweatshirt that had Los Angeles made me do it, of course, in reference to the Miles Garrett trade.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm torn, is it much to do about nothing?
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: Are we making the fans that are opposed to this?
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Then there's the train of thought.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's a baby going by.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: Look at that one, Ryan.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't care.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's not playing.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's not playing.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: But there's some fences.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, act like a general manager.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: Then again, it's still training camp.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was 100 degrees yesterday.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what she's wearing this sweatshirt.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: But regardless, making too big of a thing of this,
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: People are looking for reasons to be pissed off, Bruce, because they're pissed off.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's like in any situation, when you're angry, you usually, I don't wanna say like misery loves company, but like you look for the browns pissed off.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: They, you know, people are like, oh, you cut Luke Floria, I love Luke Floria.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: He's your sixth wide receiver calm down.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a big deal.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: people are pissed off so they're looking for reasons to be pissed off.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: Now, me, I just, like, again, I'm not telling Katherine Hickman what to do or what to wear.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really care, but there, I do know that there were regimes of the past that you did not speak to me unless you were just wearing browns.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: gear that Apollo a t-shirt it didn't matter.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: That's what you did.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: And there's been times two not necessarily here, but I've just talked to people about it.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're like players.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: You said a lot in the NBA, they wear their things that they want to promote their brains.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes they have clothing brands that they want to wear and things like that, you know, football players right after the game, they're getting dressed in the locker room.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: They got a lot of the gear.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I'm used to the coaches and the GMs.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: If it's draft night, you're usually wearing suits, or the female equivalent of a suit, whatever.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: And then when it's those situations, I would have just imagined that they would wear browns branded stuff, but I don't really.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: I read the whole transcript, rather talk about that.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same old front office response to every single question, Watson Sanders, offensive line, draft picks and all.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting ready for Jacksonville.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well of course you're getting ready for Jacksonville.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: What do you make out of the Browns practice schedule as opposed to other teams not, you know,
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: My understanding the Browns are off till Monday.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're going to Labor Day weekend off.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, at the end of the day, the coaches have to net, they all kind of navigate this different, some coach, like, you know, get your practice in, so we get to weekend off.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm all for it, because, like, again, these guys, the players, they've been going hard since the end of July.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: In an old month, the training camp, like, they need to relax, they need to be able to get away for a couple of days, you know, we're all going to be chilling and relaxing over the weekend, anyway.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't really have a problem that I think that's the way to go.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: you know, the real right and it's like this is the 49ers left for Australia yesterday they won't get there till tomorrow Bruce they leave on a Wednesday they're getting there on a Friday the Rams apparently are just leaving next week they're literally flying in plane the game and flying right back so it must know something different could be worse you could be saddled with one of those types of trips or something like that Jacksonville's not that bad you know they'll leave on Saturday like they'll always do I'm fine with them out of the weekend
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: All spoke out about the Jutkins block and he said everything's okay.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're teammates.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting ready for Jax and Ville.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_00]: We have spoken.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: There may be a little something there, but that's competitive edge.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the first time.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: This has occurred in training camp.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: These are professional football players.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's a contact vicious, ferocious sport.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm like, I don't even think because there was a go through Ohio State teammates.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they were on the same team, right?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like Mike Hall was already in the NFL when Quinshawn Judd couldn't transfer to Ohio State.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: So all that aside, I mean...
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: there's internet rumors that I don't really want to give creating stew because I don't I can't validate those, um, what I just didn't know.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you don't want to look either not hard to find.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: Um, they're out there.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: But I'll just tell you something I picked up over the off season is that some of the coaching staff were not happy with my call for different reasons.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: So another round to Andrew Barry bust.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't say that, but it's just like when I heard some of the things that I heard from people that talked to coaches and they said like
- 21:30[SPEAKER_02]: They're cutting pretty straight about Michael and I really I put him out of the potential trade candidate in camp But then you do your D lines.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's me.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's a D end at this point.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else but no bodies.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_00]: So they had a whole I'm sure take a look at that depth.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I mean I suspect like my calls got this year Ryan's a really proved that he's not a bust
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: Because this year goes bad again, that is a bus.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_02]: That whole dress, he's hurt.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: He can't get on the field.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: And while Zack's inter was a healthy scratch, he can't play it in at a time.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, how he made that roster, I don't think.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so that draft man, Andrew Bay really needed these last two drafts.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, I mean, that's the thing.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: The last two drafts, and we haven't seen this, this most recent one, you know, on the field, but I'm trying to go back, yeah, that was the zinter, that was 2014, or 2014, or 2014 last year, without a first.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right, we didn't have a first.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: Who's your second round picked out here?
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I thought he was a third round pick.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think since I think you're right.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Aaron Donald's made an official.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to join Miles Garrett on the other side of that defensive line for the L.A. Respo, they were already to me, the favorite to win the NFC.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: Let alone if he comes back and even he doesn't have to regain his form from one he played every year and was so sensational to make this ramps defense even more formidable.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: Let alone the way they can put points on the board with Stafford and company.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: absolutely and everybody says he looks exactly like he did when he retired he obviously kept in you know shape and that explosiveness and you know we talked about this there was a list put out of the most watchable teams in the NFL Benjamin so that could be SPN came up with a metric to talk about big plays or star players
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: and he said the bears were the most watchable team in football and I disagree Bruce, I think it's the Rams hands down there the most watchable team in football, just with Miles Garrett, now you add Aaron Donald, Puka, Devante, Stafford, Sean McVay like without a doubt, I think the Rams are, I don't know if it's the most popular, but I think the most watchable football team and that is honestly, and then they trade for Trent McDuffy too.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that is one of the most impressively put together rosters.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen quite some time.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_02]: I said that about the Eagles for a little while.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they haven't hesitated his sleeve.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, putting this team that that front office doesn't hesitate.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the trade picks for any.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they'll trade picks for anybody.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, yeah.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're credit.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: They've already won one Super Bowl.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: They beat Cincinnati when Burrell led the Bengals there.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_00]: And heck, you put a gun to my head right now.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_00]: I got to pick the Rams in that NFC.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: and that's the most people are batten for the Super Bowl two uh... rightly so and they're going all in they trade all these picks because they just go we're going and they took ty Simpson because they knew they were going to get miles guaranteed a controversial pick because it was the first round he wasn't projected to go in the first round
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: But they said to know what they're doing and I understand he's like real good in preseason.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: So he's the heir apparent apparently out there and they could be a formidable force for quite a few years.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_00]: Again, next week besides the other four divisions including our division, the AFC North that we're going to predict, we will be taking the marquee games and let's do this like we did a year ago, Ryan.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see I'll take the marquee games with the spread and then the three of us will make our predictions and the marquee games are easy to mark the next besides our game obviously against Jacksonville New England at Seattle the San Francisco 49ers at LA against the Rams.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: Wow that rivalry and Lana at Pittsburgh Buffalo at Houston.
- 25:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big one.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Stroud against Allen and company Tampa Bay at Cincinnati and Denver at Kansas City So those are some of the games that we will preview and predict next week But coming up now.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's uh, we want to Matt got dive into our division of predictions We're going to cover four of those four you want today show.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait So we're going to do parlay if you will if you like it, but take a look at how we're going to do it So we'll get to our division picks coming up big play live right here in YouTube
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: What's again, great to have you aboard this week's version of the Big Play Cleveland Show on Thursday, Bruce Drenna, MF Montana, Ryan Tyler.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: All right, time to start our pro-divisional predictions for this upcoming 26 campaign.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: We'll save the AFC North for next week, prior to the start of the Brown season against Jacksonville.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, little bit of gonna take two NFC and two AFC divisions this week, and we're gonna start with the NFC North.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: fourth place.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, I want to clear I want to save this right from the get-go.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: I believe this is the toughest top-to-bottom division in the entire NFL of all of the divisions.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: You could make a case for any one of these four teams.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's very balanced.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to beat that heck out of one another during the season.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: But you've got to make predictions.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we're going to do.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say that Minnesota will bring up the rear.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't surprise me though.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm wrong on this and they contend,
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: 43 and 27 is his record last year, 9 and 8, and then they fired their general manager.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: They brought in Kyler Murray as their quarterback.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: Let's remember, in 2024, this team was 14 and 3.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: Third place, I'm going with Detroit.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people liked them, the bounce back, and win this division.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: Dan Campbell's in his sixth year.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: He's got an overall record of 50 and 38 and 1.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: Last year, nine and eight, and I think he's on the hot seat to tell you the truth.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: Because after the division, a couple of years, winning the division a couple of years, Jared Goff Gibbs, he's got a quite an offensive scoring machine.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think there are secondaries a little questionable.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_00]: But boy, I got to think that Campbell's on the hot seat.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: If he doesn't get those lions back to the promised land, his closest they've been the previous two years.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: Second place I go with Green Bay, Matt and the floors there are coaches in his eighth year.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's got an overall record of 79 and 46.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now last year the pack went 11 and 6.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: However, get this.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_00]: They were 1 and 5.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: against their divisional foes in the AFC North.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan, love is their quarterback.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: I believe he's responsible for blowing in against the Cleveland Browns.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Mike O'Person's is going to be out until October, but Green Bay's definitely formidable.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: And last but not least, my choices the Chicago Bears, they showed me enough last year under Duke Coach Ben Johnson now entering his second season.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: campaign and a win in the playoffs over Green Bay 31 to 27.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: It was a great game and an equally great game and their loss to the L.A. Rams 20 to 17 Caleb Williams has come into his own they've got a young second dairy that could be a question for him but Matt is I flip it to you.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is a real tough division to pick.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, one hundred percent because it is probably the best division football.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: The NFC West might be close, but Arizona is way worse than any team in the North.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that kind of balances it out.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'll start.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think Minnesota is going to finish fourth in this one.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: They just, uh, there's just too much going on.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if Kyle is going to be the answer, but
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: If you wanted a long shot playoff team, I would probably go with them because of Kyla Murray can just play the system that Kevin O'Connor wants.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: You could see some success.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think Green Bay is going to finish third.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Packers have a lot of problems right now.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: Michael Parsons is going to start the season on pop, coming off his injury, he'll miss the first four games.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: Bruce, I don't think Josh Jacobs is going to play football again.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: I don't so you then you're talking about turning that over to Martian Lloyd, who's, you know, just a journeyman pretty much running back.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: You want to turn that all the Jordan love shirt and I'm a big Christian Watson fan.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: They've got some receiving threats there, Tucker Kraft coming back off his injury, but he doesn't have a contract extension, he's getting asked about that all the time.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like the mental state.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: of the Green Bay Packers right now.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: And again, talk about hot seed.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think that could be Matt LaFlor up there in Green Bay.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to have them finish third.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: Right?
- 29:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I went back and forth on Detroit and Chicago because I'm kind of the opposite of your Bruce.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is this bounce back year for the Detroit Lions.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, they're going to go all of an engineer Gibbs.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't mind him and David Montgomery kind of split in carries, but there were
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: Did they have a season to overcome losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn to their head coaching jobs?
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_02]: Did they have Ben Johnson back?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_02]: But I think just then being able as the players to understand a little bit better what they need to do.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_02]: I just think they have too much talent.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think they are 100% a playoff team.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: They just have too much talent to miss.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_02]: But Ryan got me and I will join on the Chicago Bears winning that division.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_02]: They do seem a bit of a team of destiny.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_02]: They, again, talk about the talent, Ben Johnson learning a lot last year.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_02]: I do think they've got it all.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go with the Bears, Lions, Packers, and Viking.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan chime in and disagree where you will.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, please.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: I will.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, first of all, I agree.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: I guess reverse word.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think bears finish ahead of the division again.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like everything you guys said, I think they have everything going for Ben Johnson a young play call or Caleb Williams and ascending MVP level type quarterback.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have a plethora of offensive weapons.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love the direction they're in.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: And again, they have a decent offensive line.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, number two, I'm going to try it, right?
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like you mentioned Jamir Gibbs thing, how about this?
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves Jamir Gibbs because a fancy football, but let's think about it real life.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think not having David Montgomery is going to end up hurting him in the long run, right?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: So to have that guy behind you, that's taking those Karim Hunt roll carries and taking them off you.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: They got Karim Hunt.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess you're right, they do.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if you can still do it.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_02]: But check those hurt, but I give you your say I understand.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I mean, but here's what I guess I'm going to give him's his heart.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then here's where I'm going different.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: I actually have Minnesota finishing third Charlie Murray.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: I have to be a finishing last.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, a bit of a surprise, but everything you said, right?
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like Josh Jacobs, I don't know if he's going to play another snap offensive line isn't great.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: We took your center.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for that.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then again, Jordan love.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: He has improved to me that he can elevate a roster with that many deficiencies to the point where they're going to be a perennial playoff contender.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think he's good hasn't shown me that.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: So bears, lions, Vikings, Packers.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_00]: All this is a little agreement with bears.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and you guys could be right again.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be surprised.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in a sort of just better than for right wouldn't be surprised if Detroit wins a division And the only division like that I think this year that you can argument all four teams could win the division.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to the AFC South fellas, and I've got Tennessee bringing up the rear
- 32:22[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Salis, our coach first year, the Titans back to back three and 14 records.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: Tennessee finished near the bottom of the league in most major statistical categories.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Cam Ward, they say, is going to be their quarterback of the future, but this is an improved division.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot see them for the life of me contending.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_00]: Indianapolis.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_00]: with uh... the fourth year coach uh... exchange strategy that twenty five twenty uh... six uh... it's his record in the four years there uh... they have missed the playoffs now five straight years last year they started eight and two and they finished eight and nine now there were injuries will be fair but uh... dandelions doesn't excite me big contract extension i see them third
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the controversy and I know Ryan's gonna chime in on this based on what he disagreed with me a year ago Bruce people can change a lot in a year Don't I make just here what you say, but you know where I'm going Ryan I think Houston second I was showing enough by Jacksonville as I predicted a year ago
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: and sure enough it came to be.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_00]: But Houston, with Ryanson, his fourth year, 35, 22, last year, they won their last nine games in a row to finish the regular season, and a 28 to 16 lost to New England and the playoffs, nothing to be ashamed of stroud defenses, absolutely phenomenal.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line has been overhauled,
- 33:58[SPEAKER_00]: and they're a very, very, very serious contender to win the division, and perhaps maybe contend seriously for the Super Bowl.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see it, but I do with Jacksonville.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen is in his second year, 13 and 5, lost to Buffalo, 27, 24, and the playoffs.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_00]: That was a great game.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: and they easily could have won that game.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: Sure, sure, sure, sure, yeah.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: Really came into his own last year, and my man Travis Hunter, who should be wearing the Orange and Brown corner back, and will be used as a spot as a wide receiver.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think Jacksonville showed their for real.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, guys.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: I agree Jacksonville's might Brian more of my locks.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_02]: It was Jacksonville.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think they do it for you.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's not good.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: I apologize.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: I love Jacksonville in the South.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: Houston's going to finish second there.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_02]: Indie.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: I even a healthy Daniel Jones doesn't do that for me.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I'm not a big fan of it.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like that they got rid of Michael Pittman.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: The Pierce contract.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, fine.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: You're putting a lot on Jonathan Taylor.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_02]: Really
- 35:05[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I'm not a believer in the cult's titans, they're just in the middle of their rebuild.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so they're going to finish for it.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the only thing I'll switch on that is maybe putting the cult's seriously finishing second above the Texans and have Jacksonville winning the division as well.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just seriously really.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm seriously worried for Houston a bad offensive line with a quarter back then over.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: And my opinion isn't great, right?
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like how the phenomenal rookie year, but every single year since then has regressed.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: We've seen this show before Cleveland.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: phenomenal defense but the offense has a bad offensive line and a quarterback that I don't think elevates We just saw him play in the playoffs and play frankly.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was the worst quarterback in the playoffs this season I'm not buying it so jacks.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go cult Texans.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: Titans.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if Matt we should get the tapes out to show you Ryan's got him how he how he disagreed with me a year ago When I said Jacksonville from the beginning and he didn't say that I was crazy, but for all attacks of purposes you Ted
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: I changed Bruce.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: I watched it.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: I watched it.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: What a difference.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: You're great.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: You're great.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to the NFC South, where, in my opinion, this is the biggest joke of a division in the NFL.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's the weakest by far.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: And the love affair, if there is one, which Kevin Stephansky is going to be over with real quick, because there are a last place team.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: uh... it first year coach uh... it's the fansky is in for a long long season form a quarterback met Ryan takes over his president of football operations um... eight year playoff drought will be nine panics is hurt uh... they are terrible i can't see at land uh... coming close to the overrunner on wins
- 36:45[SPEAKER_00]: Carolina is next and it's a they finished very nicely last year um it canalases their code third year 13 and 22 record last year eight nine uh... playoff loss to the rams and they gave the raps all they wanted thirty four to thirty one Bryce Young the quarterback doesn't excite me uh...
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I see them as a below 500 team, which means I can still contend in this ridiculous division.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: New Orleans is a team that might be on the Upswing a little bit, Kellon more second year, 6 and 11, Tyler show the quarterback on either of the easiest schedule.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_00]: in the entire NFL.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I got to go with Tampa Bay.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_00]: Todd Bulls 50 or 36 36 even 500.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_00]: Last year they were eight and nine.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: They missed the playoffs after four straight divisional titles.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: Baker may field in company and the divisions wide open.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think Bulls is on the hot seat if he doesn't get the bucks back into the playoffs.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want thing.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to be tough to beat for the Browns because of Baker may field in that second week matchup.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the buck and ears, it's their division to lose everything is there for bulls and Baker.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: So you start with Todd Bulls.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: Some of the players came out and they've defend him vehemently saying like, all he does is give us what we need and then we go out and screw it up.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm paraphrasing, obviously, but like you've had multiple players say like, this is not a Todd Bulls problem.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_02]: This is a player problem.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: Now last year for the bucks,
- 38:16[SPEAKER_02]: the injuries just start Baker had to play injured a mecca boooka got hurt they had to deal with Mike Evans going out and they still somehow scrapped to be close now the joke is what if they handed out a September MVP Baker may feel to probably be a three time MVP at this point of the year because that's when he plays really well September it starts to change com October and November I think they'll have enough to squeak by
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm with you Bruce.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be just be a tumultuous year for the Atlanta Falcons.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know I'm now buying the Panthers.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't with Bryce Young.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to prove me wrong, I think, and then I'll eat some crow, but I don't think it's going to be this year.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then the Saints, I'm a big Tyler Chuck fan.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_02]: Ryan, who was I screaming for the Browns to take in the second round of year ago?
- 38:58[SPEAKER_02]: Tyler Chuck.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: They're still a year to away.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: I like to Travis ATN hire or signing, but I say Bruce, you look at the Saints' depth chart at receiver.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: I might be able to get some passes on that team because they have no one outside of Chris O'Lave, especially now that you're away, Jordan Tyson hurt.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, never would've guessed that.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: There we are.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna go with the same thing.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna say it's the buck and ears.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say the Panthers finish second, Saints.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_02]: Falcons.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like that.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm almost pretty much the same as you guys, right?
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like Tampa Bay Baker playing on a contract near their defenses too good.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's their division to lose and then I'm actually going to say it's I think it'd be better than you think and then I'll go Panthers and then in the bottom the Falcons they don't have a quarterback.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, of our four divisions before we conclude next week with the other four, the AFC East and last place is EZ.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it is an easy.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's a toss-up between two of the worst teams on the entire NFL, but I'm going with the jets.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Aaron Glenn in a second year after that first year, three and fourteen record, the jets haven't made the playoffs since 2010.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: genosmith is their quarterback tells you all you need to know in my opinion.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_00]: Then Miami, which if Haley and his first year, no two, Malik Mills, I don't see Miami, you know, the town's there.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're taking it hard.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_00]: The Brown's, the Brown's beat them last year again.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: So take your choice.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: 3rd and 4th place with those two losers.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: All right, now I'm going with New England for second place, which tells you I'm picking Buffalo.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, frables in a second year, 17 and four record, 14 and three regular season, there's off the field baggage.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think once they kick it off, that'll be forgotten.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: But he led them to the Super Bowl with wins over the L.A. Chargers Houston and Denver before their 29-13 loss to Seattle in the big one.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: Drake May did not impress me in the playoffs.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: They were opportunistic.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: Their defense played great.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if the baggage is going to be a factor or not, but it will, if the season doesn't go well for them, and losses start piling up.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: Buffalo, I think Joe Brady taking over tells you all you need to know about Sean McDermott, seven straight double digit wins seasons, and not one trip to the Super Bowl.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_00]: Five consecutive AFC Eastern titles, but Josh Allen.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_00]: is 500 in the playoffs.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_00]: And last year, he can't blame the homes in Kansas City for being his nemesis in not getting to the Promised Land because Kansas City didn't even make the playoffs nor did Buffalo.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: Will this finally be the year?
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I wanted the Browns to draft Alan when they drafted Baker Mayfield and I think we'd be in a lot better situation than we are with this state of disarray and chaos we've experienced all these years, but boy is this a telling year for Alan guys.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_02]: It is huge year.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_02]: I'm also taking Buffalo to win exact order.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to take Buffalo.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Patriots will make the playoffs.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_02]: But just a little bit of that making the Super Bowl hang over young team.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: I know they didn't win it, but still just being there Drake may can only do so much.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: I like them getting AJ Brown.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that was a fantastic move for them to get a weapon for Drake may.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: But she's the same thing about Josh Allen.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: They went and got DJ Moore to be finding the get him a legit number one receiver that he hasn't had since the fine digs left.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll just go Buffalo into pressures more on them even though again Joe Brady just got there But like the the you know Diana received he's back in the news again like everybody's swept that away Like I know Vrable did too, but that stuff just lingers, you know, and it's gonna keep coming back up So I just think a little hanging over for the Patriots and then yeah complete tank jobs coming in for Miami and the jets And so they can find their quarterbacks.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I know Malique Willis is there
- 42:57[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see how that goes.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: Jets will be trapped in a quarterback with their first pick next year.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: And they've got ammunition to do so.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be the biggest competition for our rounds.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, as far as picking the top.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I 100% believe that the jets will have the first overall pick one way or another.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: They're either going to be that bad and just have it or they're going to trade for it from some.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_02]: You know again Arizona maybe but they got plenty like there's no way that the jets will be taking the first quarterback off the board And it's gonna suck when it's Dante more.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna cry.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: I hope they screw up like the Browns have traditionally screwed up Ryan go ahead.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm going I'll just a little bit different.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually going the jets finish last Aaron Glenn I think is gonna get fired by the end of the year probably before the end of the year like I think it's a bad old menu higher defensive coaches a former NFL corner back in your team doesn't get an interception all year
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: Not good for the jets and the dolphins.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe just have enough crazy talent.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like we'll see what Malik will.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go pull off with Devon HN and then it's between the Patriots and bills and same thing.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going the bills over the Patriots.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is this your Josh Allen does it?
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: You get rid of McDermott.
- 43:59[SPEAKER_01]: You bring in a new variable and Joe Brady's offensive coordinator.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he unlocks that ceiling.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think DJ Moore, fun prediction, could have an all-pro-type season with Josh Allen kind of like we saw stuff on Diggs do.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: Super Bowl.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: Who knows what Josh Allen, but I think they win the division
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, there it is, and next week we'll love course address the other four divisions, including the AFC North with our Cleveland Browns.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_00]: You can look forward to that, and also look forward to after the break.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_00]: Us taking a look at really the first full-fledged week of college football, a lot of automatic wins, but we're going to take a look at it nonetheless.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's next here on the Big Place Port Show Thursday Edition.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's some interesting matchups for the first full-fledged week of the 2026 college football season.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it starts tonight.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_00]: The acronyms are traveling to Wake Forest.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_00]: Take on the demon deacons.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_00]: Wake is a 22 and a half point favorite.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: How good is acronym going to be?
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: Wake Forest wasn't bad in the ACC last year.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: They pulled off a few wins.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they did, and you know, again, it's the change in college football, kind of seeing the new teams, the transfer portal changes so much.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: We have quick news out of college football.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_02]: The SEC is suing LSU and Lane Kiffin.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: Go figure.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: Think about the NC, the SEC.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: That'd be like the big win.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_02]: I hope they win.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: Defendance waged a deliberate and coordinated campaign to recruit professional athletes to play it LSU.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_02]: The SEC is suing.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: There was a balance.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: We're pulling today.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: Did it come out yet then?
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's that?
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: There was a big court ruling on whether LSU would have been allowed to do that.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: Did it come out today?
- 45:37[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe that's what the suing.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_02]: It maybe that's they filed the brief to sue.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_02]: Because the SEC came out and they said you cannot let them play.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_02]: So the, but LSU would have to leave the SEC, they can't do it.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think they'd still be allowed.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: They would just, that's why the SEC is suing them.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they weren't allowed to have them because they'd have to leave, like, it's a conference rule.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_02]: You can't go against the conference.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, it just came to us.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I mean, the D-Rail thing is literally just came down.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm cheering for the legal firm representing the conference.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, it's...
- 46:07[SPEAKER_02]: This is what we're at, like, literally conferences soon.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: So we've had multiple instances of teams threatening to boycott
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: two different teams for two different reasons and now you have a conference suing one of their own institutions uh... over this it's welcome to college full-on twenty twenty six yeah it's andres in a lot of recruiting and i.l.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: money let me say and he's got new rules for his buffalo team as they start up tonight at Georgia Tech and rambling wreck a six and a half point favorite did you see what uh... with sanders did as far as they're getting these and i.l.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: players to come on over
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen too much from Colorado.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, again, it's like, I think he's trying to get that, you know, I didn't get that excitement from a couple of years ago.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: I bet.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: And that's like, I'm sure he's going to try.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that bubble is kind of name wasn't on Sanders, but he'd be fired by now.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, because he had success there that they had never had.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they had a high, I mean, trophy winner.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_00]: Going back to my car, they back away when they won the nation.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's hard, because it's, I don't want to say, signate it Indiana, because like, they want a national championship, but it's like half of what Kurt's signate he did.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: And that guy walks on water now and, you know, when Indiana Bloomington, right, Bloomington and Ian.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: U-A-B is opening up at Champagne against the fighting line.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: I feel almost done a good job.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_02]: Dan Prepilum.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I know.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is our console.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: I did okay.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was constant.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_00]: You can't deny his record.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_02]: It was not.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he did.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought this doesn't care for him.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, but he has done a good job in Illinois that cannot be a nice crack.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: That that program has been a joke.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow, you tap will open up at Oklahoma.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_00]: Number 10 in the country.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Sooners are a 40 and a half point favorite Toledo on the tier baby.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: I always a contender in the Mac is opening up in East Lansing against Michigan State.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_00]: They're a ten and a half point for him to get a new coach again.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: Don't they MSU I think Michigan State.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's the path Fitzgerald.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: He left Northwestern.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: He finally got paid out and found out he wasn't to jerk after all.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_00]: He has was an assistant coach at my alma mater.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: Loyola Academy of the Chicago Catholic League when his son was the quarterback and they won four state championships in a row.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if it's true, it was actually helping out the program.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: I love I like Pat Fitzgerald.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a great hire.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_00]: I was a great lot.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_00]: I like Pat Fitzgerald.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_00]: What he did at Northwestern.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: Miami is at Stanford.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the hurricane's crystal ball in company 24 point favorite the right number seven in the country.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_00]: What do you guys expect from them this year after that great playoff?
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the sport betting person that I follow on Twitter, they are hammering the under 10 and a half wins for Miami.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like they think that this is just the fallout, you know, Daryan Mensa, one of the highest paid players in college, football, if not de-highest paid player.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_02]: I would say pressure on Mario, Chris Deball, but I mean, getting to a national championship after again, years of not being relevant for my, it's, it's Miami, you know, like it's Miami, they were in their every year.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: when I was growing up, but no no excuse no excuse for Miami not to win the ACC the season you're right Bruce Murphy.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: I would agree one the ACC with Miami there, which is surprising Dairy and Mensa, by the way, probably leagues above Carson back by the way, at least a 100% transitioning to the NFL.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: You still have Malachi Tony and Malachi Tony and by the way, you have a top runny back in the nation in Mark Fletcher.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: He has a front a little worry.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: I believe how fast that
- 49:34[SPEAKER_00]: But Miami should win the ACC knowing that game for 20 bucks guys out there and stand for Fresno State tomorrow night is traveling to the West Coast to play the Southern Cal Trojans So I think it's a $16 for that Southern Cal is the right number 14 of the country of course.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_00]: They already played a game.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_00]: They won
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: But I've got to think that Lincoln Riley's on the hot seat this year and there's a lot of talk that they might be a playoff contender and they've got a brutal schedule.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_00]: But is this to or die for Riley out there?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I do or die from the standpoint of like you just got to start showing it.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think like it's more of as long as he hits some benchmarks, they're going to give another year.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_02]: Their recruiting classes have been a lot better.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_02]: My off of being there is the shoot show is probably going to be the best quarterback outside of Caleb Williams that Lincoln Riley has had there and that Lincoln Riley's best season came with Caleb Williams.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I do have high expectations.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_02]: I do think USC makes the playoffs.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: So these are me three or four big 10 teams that make it Ohio State Indiana Oregon and I think USC will make play off this year.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_00]: Well the high-state buck guys number one in the country will start off against ball state there are fifty in that point.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, favorite in that game.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: So let's move on.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_00]: You have to be on the 50 real quick.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is coming up.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: So the last three times in Ohio State has been favored by 50.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_02]: 2013 Florida Atlantic.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_02]: They won 76 to nothing.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_02]: the last two times though, they've both been Rutgers in 2019 and 2021 Ohio State failed to cover any other one of those games.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_02]: So Ball State, they're like, you know, we joke about Rutgers being the worst team in the Big Ten.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_02]: Ball State might be the worst team in the Mac.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_02]: So take that for what it's worth.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't back in fourth line.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think I said take ball state in the points.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_02]: I just, I might stay away from a bruise.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: or a good state is at Houston, Houston's number 23 ranked, the country, there are 20 and a half point.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's one of my favorite plays for Saturday, Houston minus 20 and a half hammered that.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_00]: East Carolina at Alabama, the Crimson tied to right number 13 in the country.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: There are 28 point favorites.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's the pressure on the board.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, 100%, it has to be.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: I believe three, four years.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: This is fully now appealing to Bore, Alabama.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't Nick Sabin anymore, right?
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you've got destroyed by Indiana.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shouldn't even bend there in the first place.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, by the way, three months.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Making the playoffs shouldn't even be the standard for Caleb and Bore anymore.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a winna bowl game in the playoffs, I think, to really calm down.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_02]: And he's losing guys left and right.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State's got two guys on the roster again from Alabama.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_02]: of this year.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: Like guys are transferring out of their left and right.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: It's bad.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: They're not a brutal schedule too.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_02]: They do.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_00]: North Texas is at Indiana in Bloomington to take on the defending national champions of Coach Zignetti.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_00]: The Hoosiers are right number six as we enter this campaign with a new quarter back to a 41 point favor in my way.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_00]: And a Hoover
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: can't expect him to be Mandosa, but now that Indiana faithful have got a taste of what it's like to be the elite, they're going to be on him if he doesn't perform, I know.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, he's one of the guys, like of all the big quarterbacks that moved, Hoover there, men's some master maker,
- 53:11[SPEAKER_02]: What's my mission, Ryan?
- 53:12[SPEAKER_02]: There's one other one that big one that move.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's transferring.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, transfer to an Mesa, Mesa Maker, whatever.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_02]: Hoover.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_02]: Sam Levitt went to a Sam Levitt.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's it.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you very much.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_02]: Of all those guys, Josh Hoover is my most interesting watch.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I am really intrigued to see what he's going to be for India.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think I don't want to get with Mesa, you know, Levitt will be fine.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_02]: Mesa Maker is really for the Browns interest, a very interesting prospect.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's a kid from all over the world.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, come on.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, come on.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_02]: He left North Texas and now he's at Oklahoma State, but Josh Hoover with Indiana, unfortunately for the Buckeyes, that could, I agree, he's not Mendoza, that might be a pretty good match there.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_00]: Tennessee State, is that Georgia, the Bulldogs, of course, a number three in the country.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: There are 46 point favorite Kirby Smart, again, has his team as one of the favorites, not only for
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: the SEC, but for the national championship, and it coming out Georgia.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just like anything, you know, they're, they're, it's kind of weird that they, you don't ever hear about them.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: Like all the SEC talk is about, I know, LSU and, you know, even Alabama, like Georgia just kind of hangs out and like, oh yeah, by the way, you know, we'll start the season as the third team ranked and they'll be the playoff team.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think they're gonna win the SEC this year, though.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's just a little too competitive there.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_02]: They should be there.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: Are you sure there is that Penn State?
- 54:30[SPEAKER_00]: and uh... nitty lines are right number 18th in the country eighteen of the country there twenty four and a half point favorite
- 54:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think they made a brilliant hire in Campbell.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I did a great job.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_00]: Where was he, Toledo?
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: Then Iowa State, look at the job he did it.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: Iowa State, now he said Penn State, I thought they should have fired Franklin years ago.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how he does at Virginia Tech.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_00]: But Penn State, I'm looking for them, give him a couple of years with some NIO money.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll be right back there.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: How about you guys?
- 55:03[SPEAKER_02]: I agree it's going to take a little time though because he brought a lot of Iowa state guys a crackle back there and I'm not trying to knock the job that he did Iowa state but those guys couldn't make it to the play out there.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't know if changing a jersey is going to change any of that.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, once he gets his recruiting going, we'll be able to figure it out.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_00]: Texas State is at Texas against the horns.
- 55:22[SPEAKER_00]: Texas is a number five in the country.
- 55:24[SPEAKER_00]: Thirty point favorite.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_00]: If Syracuseon loses to Ohio State.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_00]: and they've got a brutal brutal schedule in the SEC.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: And they're being considered a very serious contender not only for the playoffs, but the national championship is Sarquizian in jeopardy.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think he is one of the most solidly, like not Ryan Day Kirby's smart level.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think Steve Sarquizian's got anything to worry about.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think it's three or four.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_00]: I have the lead.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_02]: I have the lead.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: I have the lead.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_01]: I have the lead.
- 55:54[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the thing is you, at this point,
- 55:58[SPEAKER_02]: The vibe that I get is like he's got a coach better certainly, but you have gotten all these I get because you've got to say you got arts, you got Cam Coleman to transfer there as the biggest move of the offseason probably like you got to put all these pieces together, but I think it's also like Texas or sitting there they're salivating they go yeah we got all these players like eventually you got to start looking at the players a little bit like but if you're Steve I think you're on
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: What what's so interesting about Texas is they have what might be the number one overall picking next to draft in archmaning right But what sets them aside is they might also have the best defense in the country So you don't need archmaning to play like the number one pick if you're starting to see if they're cheesy and you got Cam Coleman You got Ryan Wingo who is inconsistent at times like they have to make the play off at the very least Oh, no, I'm not worried about them make I think they're making the play out.
- 56:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: their schedule.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't get last year.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you they could feasibly lose three or four.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_02]: And here's their ranked teams Ohio State, then they're at 2010 to see at home against Oklahoma.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_02]: Number nine Ole Miss, number 25 Missouri, number 11 LSU and number eight Texas.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, the home was always in Dallas.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: That's it.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 57:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the Red Sun.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's listed as to the B wearing their home jerseys.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_00]: The Redner to shoot out.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's a fifth
- 57:09[SPEAKER_02]: see that's what I'm saying like they don't they don't have George on the schedule this year I don't really think LSU is gonna be 11 by the time that they play them watch out when they go to Tennessee if that game was yeah listen to that that's one that's not really yeah but going to Tennessee Tennessee's not bad this year
- 57:26[SPEAKER_02]: I think they could be as I don't know if they'll make it this year, but they're going to be sneaky, but like, yeah, I just, it is a tough schedule beyond Ohio State, you know, after that one, and I don't think they win that game, so I see three losses for Texas, but the same argument's going to be had there's going to be, they can.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they have a family effort to disgrace the Alabama was with three losses.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: God help the NCAA committee if they vote if they put in two lane and James Madison.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I agree with that.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_00]: No today is in this.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, my contention last year wasn't that my amy shouldn't That noted in should be in there and set up my amy absolutely not my amy beat Notre Dame.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_00]: They deserve to be in a But Notre Dame deserve to be in over Alabama.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, no 100% and that's three losses
- 58:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to also the committee knows their expansion is coming, so for like this potentially to be this last version of this playoff.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_02]: They don't need to play nice.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you want to cry about James Madison and Tulane.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know what, we're going to expand in two years.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_02]: You can get back in it in two years.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like this year, I screen this from the rooftop and it's just, it's, you know,
- 58:47[SPEAKER_02]: Why do they feel like they need to cater to all these other teams?
- 58:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to see that nobody wants to see it.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: I want Texas Ohio State, I want Alabama or again, I want Notre Dame and Miami and Flood, I want the big teams.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_02]: Why do we have to sit there and act like we give a damn about Tulane and James Madison.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_02]: I hate it just bothers me so much.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_00]: So all that being said is like in my blood pressure It's the way they're going.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying like it's coming.
- 59:17[SPEAKER_02]: So just sit there this year and be ruthless I would look at the committee and say one thing be I don't think they'll let two of them in this year Yeah, they'll have one in their man.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even want one All right boys he stayed is in Oregon the ducks are number two in the country 24 and a half point favor and I want to say this to start the season
- 59:40[SPEAKER_00]: don't take more may indeed be along with manning the two top quarterbacks kid from Oklahoma states he may be the most sought after and the most potential for the pros but I got to tell you guys some I was not impressed with more in the playoff last year I'm sorry
- 59:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're just on tape more, right?
- 59:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like, him and Mensa, probably the two most beautiful pastors of the football in this year's class.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_01]: But there are issues with Dante when he gets pressured, right?
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we start first play or somebody's coming from his mindset, you got to get that ball quick.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: First play that, that's my final game against any of that.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_01]: That picks six.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's what I think Dante needs to improve.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: So I agree, Bruce, you got to see strides from him this year.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, next the big one.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: This is the biggest game of the first weekend.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_00]: Clemson at LSU.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_00]: Clemson's not even right now.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_00]: LSU's number 11, the written point favorite and how about the Davos we need.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_00]: Ole Miss, now L.S.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_00]: you this thing with him and Kiffin.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_00]: This is really, I'm very curious to see the video of when the teams are warming up with dabble at midfield with Kiffin because this has become quite controversial over the players going
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: one school, the old Mrs. really upset about it too.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_00]: But this is quite a match up early in the year.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I know that Sweeney and Company at Clemson were reluctant to do all of this transfer portal thing, but it's, it is what it is.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, after being a perennial, national champion and national championship contender, he's got to get back to the promise land for his faithful at Clemson.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, I mean, I think the time is just taking it's going to happen.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, Clemson had that huge uprise kind of starting even with, like, to Sean Watson and then it gets over to Trevor Lawrence and they were turning out Sammy Watkins and they were turning out all these NFL prospects.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's over.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in sports are always so cyclical, and you have your ups, and you have your downs.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_02]: Like Clemson was nothing for so long, and then they had the big surprise, I'm in their back on the downswing.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see, I think this game gets bad.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like I think LSU is going to smoke them.
- 1:01:58[UNKNOWN]: Bad.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: So oh I had Ryan tell me I'm wrong.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know I don't know if LSU is gonna lose the game But right like there's no more pressure on a coach week one the lane kiff and obviously like Tigers first Tigers Yeah, I've got the best happy value at least he's no home And no, we're at home That's the right number 11 is too high.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I want 100% agree with that That was no I get a championship pick who didn't even make the playoff last year.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: Do you lose them with home now week one at home
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's L.S.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: you all the way and it's 10 mark my words that that line's going to be up to 13 by Saturday night and you have it now it feasible you're going to have 14 from the SEC in There's a lot of contenders in the SEC Georgia Alabama Texas Oklahoma a Tennessee's a long shot I realized to compete against L.S.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: you and you know it's going to be an upset
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying against LSU, but a South Carolina is going to pull one off for a Missouri might pull.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_02]: Bandy baby.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:02:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: They're always that happens in the SEC, so this is going to be an interesting opening game for Kiffin Baylor is at Auburn.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_00]: Neither teams ranked this year, Auburn's a seven point favorite, any opinion.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_01]: I was just going to say I managed to see DJ Legway.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I thought it was going to be awesome.
- 1:03:15[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a DJ Legway problem, right?
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_01]: Or if their coach was just messing around, he obviously has moved on since.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, I thought Billy Napier was going to be so good, too, though.
- 1:03:23[SPEAKER_02]: I really thought he was going to turn that around.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know about summer on Monday.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about Florida later.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I agree.
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_02]: DJ Legway was going to be interesting one.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't really have a pick in that one, though.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: And last but not least, Western Michigan at Michigan against the Wolverines, the ranked number 16 of the country, there are 27 point favorite.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I hate to say this, but I did so when they made the higher.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think they made a fantastic higher in winning him.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_00]: He was the best available coach to be grabbed at my opinion after what he did at Utah.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they can turn it around that abruptly this year, but watch out for Michigan with winning him.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_00]: I've got a lot of respect for him.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_02]: There's people think they're sneaky playoff pick.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_02]: They're in Michigan.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see that.
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_02]: I do see them covering this game.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's 27 and a half against Western Michigan.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_02]: They should be able to take care of that.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I like the cow-witting ham hire a lot.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's some things coming out now about him at Utah and pushing players through injury and stuff like that.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: But I do as much as I hate Michigan and you know how much I hate them.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_02]: They are at least now starting this process of like putting this all this stuff behind the cheating.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, hard ball.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, hard ball.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, hard ball that she all that all the pine, but I don't think live any problem with the Broncos they're giving them minus Michigan by 28 admit.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_01]: Any charming in there Ryan?
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: I like the higher as well.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think Ohio State Michigan games you all know are one and lost in the trenches and Kyle winning him obviously.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of success in the trenches.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_01]: We browns fans know we just got one of their two tackles that went early on the draft and fan to and low and so I thought it was a great higher.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I agree with you.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think price underwood is actually that good.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they'll be a playoff team this year.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe even next year, but good higher for Michigan.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_00]: is a time to rep things up so we can go wash the blue angel.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:05:02[SPEAKER_00]: And unfortunately, that is all the time we have for this week's Thursday edition of the Big Play Cleveland show live on YouTube.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Bruce Brennan on behalf of Matt Fontana and Ryan Tyler.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_00]: Don't miss next week's show because we'll be making our predictions about the other four divisions, including the AFC North and we'll have a lot of college football to talk about guardians and the playoffs right around the corner.
- 1:05:26[SPEAKER_00]: You have a great week, and we'll see you then, until then, as always, and most importantly, you remember.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_00]: I love you, Ohio, and I love you, Cleveland.
