Fall’s here, and baby copperheads are on the move—no nests to find, just tiny, camouflaged predators with bright-tipped tails prowling leaf litter near your backyard. These little venomous champs, born August through October, are more active at night or on warm days and love suburban yards. Though they’re the top cause of snakebites in NC, their bites are usually milder than adults’—thanks to smaller fangs and less venom. But don’t mess with them.
