Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hello, their leap Frogs, and welcome back to Pandemonium. As
- 0:06Speaker 2: you can probably tell from the title already, this is
- 0:10Speaker 2: our Malcolm in the Middle episode, and it's a very
- 0:13Speaker 2: special episode, not just because of the topic being one
- 0:17Speaker 2: of the greatest sitcoms of all time, but because we
- 0:20Speaker 2: recorded this episode with cast members all in person. And
- 0:25Speaker 2: not only that, but the cast member who lives the
- 0:28Speaker 2: most miles away. That's right, Aidan, my sibling, and their
- 0:32Speaker 2: partner Elle, came and visited us all the way over
- 0:35Speaker 2: here in Colorado. We had a wonderful vacation. I promise
- 0:40Speaker 2: we did so many things other than record this podcast
- 0:44Speaker 2: because this is my happy place. This is the thing
- 0:46Speaker 2: I enjoy doing more than anything else in the world.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I sometimes feel bad suggesting it on vacation while we're
- 0:55Speaker 2: hanging out with folks in real life, but Aidan and
- 0:58Speaker 2: El were super down to record this episode with us,
- 1:02Speaker 2: and we had so much fun. Julia joined us on
- 1:05Speaker 2: the lineup, and Julia's husband Corey was also in the room,
- 1:09Speaker 2: keeping score for us because there wouldn't have been room
- 1:12Speaker 2: for all six of us in our very toasty podcast studio.
- 1:16Speaker 2: On the upper floor. We repurposed our living room to
- 1:20Speaker 2: be like a makeshift podcast set. You can see a
- 1:23Speaker 2: lot of our living room gubbins in the background. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: if you want to watch this episode as opposed to
- 1:28Speaker 2: just listen to it, head on over to patreon dot
- 1:31Speaker 2: com forward slash Gate Leapers. There is a link in
- 1:34Speaker 2: the show notes of this very episode and indeed all episodes.
- 1:38Speaker 2: For just three p fifty a month, you can get
- 1:40Speaker 2: access to all fandomoniums released as video episodes, which is
- 1:45Speaker 2: like nine out of ten fandomoniums in a given year.
- 1:48Speaker 2: This was such a joy. I think you can hear
- 1:51Speaker 2: it in our voices how excited we are to be
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the same space physically instead of just recording online.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I love our digital record because it's how we've met
- 2:01Speaker 2: so many fantastic, hilarious people. But when all four players
- 2:05Speaker 2: are in the same room at the same time, ah,
- 2:08Speaker 2: it's magic. This episode continues what has been a summer
- 2:12Speaker 2: of unique pandemoniums. We of course had our episode that
- 2:15Speaker 2: we recorded at fan Xpo. You can check that out
- 2:18Speaker 2: on YouTube, and we maybe have a guest hosted episode
- 2:22Speaker 2: or two coming up very soon, as well as another
- 2:26Speaker 2: unique all in the same room episode that I cannot
- 2:30Speaker 2: yet reveal the theme for. We're recording it in under
- 2:34Speaker 2: a week at time of recording this. I am so
- 2:37Speaker 2: excited for that one. I think it's going to be
- 2:39Speaker 2: a topic that people are like, how have you not
- 2:41Speaker 2: done this already? And yeah, we've got a couple more
- 2:43Speaker 2: live shows August fourteenth and September eleventh, those are the
- 2:47Speaker 2: next two Pandemonium live shows. I'm so excited about both
- 2:51Speaker 2: of those, cannot wait to share them. This has just
- 2:54Speaker 2: been my favorite lineup of episodes ever. This summer has
- 2:59Speaker 2: just Ah, It's a privilege and an honor that I
- 3:02Speaker 2: get to do this, and I'm just currently filled with
- 3:05Speaker 2: so much love and joy and hope. With that, thank
- 3:08Speaker 2: you once again to Aidan and l and Julia and
- 3:11Speaker 2: Corey and eternally Ordro. I'll be back at the end
- 3:15Speaker 2: with a special shout out to our wonderful games masters,
- 3:19Speaker 2: But for now, please enjoy our return to the world
- 3:22Speaker 2: of sitcoms. It's our Pandemonium for Malcolm in the Middle. Hello,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and welcome to Fandemonium, the pop culture game show that
- 3:54Speaker 2: shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games
- 3:58Speaker 2: master and an eldest sibling with what I would say
- 4:01Speaker 2: is a healthy distrust of authority. Actually Matt Watson, But
- 4:04Speaker 2: a games master needs games, and games need players, so
- 4:07Speaker 2: please welcome first. They are an actor, writer, and soon
- 4:11Speaker 2: to be teacher. They're also my sibling. So if we
- 4:13Speaker 2: start screaming at each other during this recording, we're just
- 4:16Speaker 2: paying tribute to the fandom. It's a Watson.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Hello, Hello, Hello, So strange to be here in person.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Right, this is so cool. We're in the same room.
- 4:25Speaker 3: You placed me far too close to your like control board.
- 4:28Speaker 3: I really want to touch all the butns.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's loaded up. If I just like increase this here,
- 4:33Speaker 2: any of the buttons you press will appear on the recording.
- 4:37Speaker 2: I'll leave you these two because they're two Crash Bandicoot
- 4:39Speaker 2: themed sounds from the PlayStation episode There We Go Listeners
- 4:43Speaker 2: have that noise, and she is an improviser, comedy educator,
- 4:47Speaker 2: and soon to be therapist. God in a year or two,
- 4:50Speaker 2: this team could really be an asset to their communities.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's Julia Posey.
- 4:55Speaker 4: No, I don't think i'd be allowed to there by
- 4:57Speaker 4: his friends. I shouldn't. Don't think they'd let.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Me you've passed the test.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Yeah, hooray, I'm excited.
- 5:06Speaker 2: This is so good. Welcome Aidan, Welcome Julia. We are
- 5:08Speaker 2: recording this in person in our living room. We've kind
- 5:11Speaker 2: of customized a makeshift podcast studio. How does it feel
- 5:16Speaker 2: to be hanging in the same space.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I like it. I like hanging out of people.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Socialization.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah, fantastic. Well, the theme for this episode, because we've
- 5:30Speaker 2: we're out over one hundred episodes in so the themes
- 5:32Speaker 2: are getting quite specific. Now to a specific sitcom from
- 5:35Speaker 2: the two thousands, it's Malcolm in the Middle. This was
- 5:39Speaker 2: your suggestion for a for a theme. Are you a
- 5:42Speaker 2: fan of Malcolm in the Middle.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of Malcolm in the Middle. We've
- 5:45Speaker 3: been doing rewatch me and our opponent.
- 5:57Speaker 6: No.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a huge part of like my childhood
- 6:01Speaker 3: and then being able to watch it again and it
- 6:03Speaker 3: just be like the perfect sitcom for my tastes.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Am I right in saying that the BBC two lineup
- 6:10Speaker 2: was the Simpsons followed by Malcolm in the Middle followed
- 6:13Speaker 2: by Robot.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Was that's correct?
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's good that they put Malcolm in the Middle
- 6:17Speaker 2: in the middle. Yeah, that's smart.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Good marketing.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And Julia, what about yourself? You a fan of Malcolm
- 6:26Speaker 2: in the.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Middle, So when you said that, it was like like
- 6:30Speaker 5: I was like, oh, right, I did watch that, and
- 6:32Speaker 5: also I have feelings about it.
- 6:33Speaker 4: And Frankie Munez was a huge.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Factor in like like watching like like Agent, Cody Banks
- 6:42Speaker 5: and stuff like that. So I was very like, I
- 6:46Speaker 5: don't know, and oh and big fat liar. So just
- 6:51Speaker 5: it's something that I didn't recognize was in me. And
- 6:54Speaker 5: like if you'd have asked me, like what are the
- 6:56Speaker 5: things that you remember from childhood, that wouldn't be one
- 6:59Speaker 5: of them, but like it there.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Yeah, they've really tried to push Frankie Muniz on our generation.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I feel like he was.
- 7:05Speaker 5: I'm not mad. I was gonna say he and shilahbuff
- 7:09Speaker 5: were of a nature.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, they just didn't manage to get over as
- 7:14Speaker 2: much as these modern stars.
- 7:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Shalom, he wasn't on a sitcom.
- 7:18Speaker 2: So that's true. Better Agent, Yeah, fantastic. Well, I think
- 7:25Speaker 2: I think you're going to be a good team. This
- 7:26Speaker 2: is really I'm just really thrilled that we're all in
- 7:28Speaker 2: the same space. This is really fun. So let's introduce
- 7:31Speaker 2: your opponents some siblings to have a rivalry with. She
- 7:35Speaker 2: is our resident panelist, a podcaster and comedian who works
- 7:38Speaker 2: in STEM, which today stands for surely the enemy is Malcolm.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It's Audra Stevenson. Hello, Hello, Hello, and they are a comedian,
- 7:47Speaker 2: writer and teacher.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Wow.
- 7:49Speaker 2: This team is already such an asset to their community.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I'm not supposed to, but I think I have a
- 7:54Speaker 2: favorite child.
- 7:56Speaker 6: Hi.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Hello, Hello, Welcome, Audro, Welcome. How are you both doing?
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm doing good.
- 8:03Speaker 6: It's a lovely morning at like ten thirty am. I
- 8:08Speaker 6: do normally have a watch on. I just checked an
- 8:10Speaker 6: empty wrist, but I'm just going to estimate that's the time,
- 8:14Speaker 6: and it's fine if I'm wrong.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yes, this is quite an early podcast record for as
- 8:19Speaker 2: probably the earliest in a year or so.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I just checked and I'm right twenty seven.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Well, that skill won't help you today. Fantastic el. I'm
- 8:33Speaker 2: going to ask you because you may have also had
- 8:35Speaker 2: some contribution to this being the topic choice.
- 8:38Speaker 7: It was entirely my idea. It was always it was
- 8:40Speaker 7: entirely my idea.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 2: With that in mind, are you a fan of Malcolm
- 8:44Speaker 2: in the Middle.
- 8:45Speaker 7: Yes, but I didn't watch it as a kid. I
- 8:47Speaker 7: was as an adult fan because I think it was
- 8:51Speaker 7: part of the list of things that I.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Wasn't allowed to watch.
- 8:55Speaker 7: My parents really believe that watching American TV would make
- 8:59Speaker 7: me misbehave.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Oh he's only American children, Miss Bay.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I cancel all of the games and just do a
- 9:06Speaker 2: ninety minute podcast about that.
- 9:08Speaker 7: I think it was a trend among like British parents
- 9:11Speaker 7: of like our generation where it was like, American TV
- 9:13Speaker 7: is this possible evil?
- 9:15Speaker 2: That's wild?
- 9:16Speaker 4: Because I watched the in Betweeners and Skins and was like, oh.
- 9:19Speaker 2: My gosh, they're out of control.
- 9:21Speaker 1: That was fine, It was fine, Skin.
- 9:23Speaker 3: God, you're partially right. I was banned from watching The
- 9:27Speaker 3: Simpsons for like a month because I tried to be
- 9:29Speaker 3: too much like that.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Oh my god, did you just like eat my shorts
- 9:32Speaker 4: a bunch?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Help tell everyone what.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I was a child. I want to be clear about that.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Oh yeah, And there's the episode where they go to
- 9:44Speaker 3: Australia and moons the Australian government and I was like,
- 9:49Speaker 3: that's the funniest shit I've ever seen. So we went
- 9:51Speaker 3: to Australia and so I mooned my class at school
- 9:58Speaker 3: like the next day, and obviously my teachers contacted my
- 10:01Speaker 3: parents like, hey, what's going on here? And they immediately
- 10:04Speaker 3: were like the Simpsons. Simpson is to blame.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Calabunga.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Please tell me you said calab.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I might have said, yeah, gosh.
- 10:18Speaker 6: I I also wasn't allowed to watch Malcolm in the
- 10:20Speaker 6: Middle and Controversial.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 6: My parents always told me that, like certain shows similarly
- 10:27Speaker 6: would make me misbehave because they were like, oh, they
- 10:29Speaker 6: talked back to their kids, to their parents. I was like, whoa,
- 10:35Speaker 6: my parents were actually really progressive. No, they weren't, but
- 10:40Speaker 6: I now realized watching it as an adult, I think
- 10:43Speaker 6: they just didn't want to see one very smart child.
- 10:49Speaker 6: They'd be like, oh, no, we will create so we
- 10:53Speaker 6: will create a monster.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But oh boy, I was a Malcolm. No, I was
- 10:59Speaker 1: a hell of Malcolm.
- 11:00Speaker 6: I could see that he just didn't want to see me,
- 11:03Speaker 6: really could.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Of just like two people who were banned from
- 11:14Speaker 2: against two people who have the cultural knowledge. I've balanced
- 11:18Speaker 2: these teams perfectly.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I mean, I have seen it all, and I've seen
- 11:22Speaker 1: it all the way through.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Twice and you're on our third rewatch because I have autism,
- 11:27Speaker 6: so so third rewatch.
- 11:29Speaker 3: It is gets real that sitcoms get.
- 11:31Speaker 7: Real that sitcoms, So I think I do maybe have
- 11:33Speaker 7: an advantage based on being insane.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But also who knows could be a disadvantage.
- 11:42Speaker 6: Meanwhile, I have ADHD. I think I've seen it. I
- 11:47Speaker 6: think I've seen it, But if I haven't seen something
- 11:49Speaker 6: two or three times, I don't remember.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I think it's a good balance.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, fantastic. Were a couple of great teams here but
- 11:57Speaker 2: also joining us in the living room. And I am
- 11:59Speaker 2: going to use his title because it gives more authority
- 12:01Speaker 2: to our scorekeeper today. Professor Corey Scott, Hello, Corey, Hello.
- 12:06Speaker 8: I didn't have a list of shows that I wasn't
- 12:09Speaker 8: allowed to watch, but there was a list of shows
- 12:12Speaker 8: that if I watched them, I would need to write
- 12:15Speaker 8: an essay explaining why they weren't behavior to be modeled.
- 12:23Speaker 6: I'd have loved that.
- 12:24Speaker 7: I would have watched so much stuff I wasn't allowed
- 12:32Speaker 7: to watch that I'd have been like, great, time to
- 12:34Speaker 7: sit down write an essay.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Oh fantastic, Thank you Corey for keeping scores for us today. Wonderful.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Okay teams. It's the summer of two thousand and one
- 12:46Speaker 2: and you're ready to go on vacation with your family.
- 12:48Speaker 2: You're going to a water park or a casino or
- 12:50Speaker 2: a houseboat or whatever. But I'm really try and imagine this, UFO.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I know it's a stretch for this group. You have
- 12:57Speaker 2: completely dysfunctional parents, So in order to everyone's so nervous.
- 13:01Speaker 5: To laugh, I was just thinking about what it would
- 13:08Speaker 5: be like to have parents plural.
- 13:12Speaker 2: So in order to save the vacation and build some
- 13:16Speaker 2: sibling solidarity, I'd like each pair to come up with
- 13:18Speaker 2: a Malcolm in the Middle themed team name. Please, let's
- 13:21Speaker 2: start with Aiden and Juliet. What you got?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Have you got any in the chamber?
- 13:25Speaker 2: No? I am.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I'm fully like all I can think of life is unfair,
- 13:30Speaker 5: and that's not good enough.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I on the like flight here, I was like, oh,
- 13:36Speaker 3: I need to like think of team names because I
- 13:37Speaker 3: always just like think of some off the cuff and
- 13:40Speaker 3: they're never very good. I didn't do that, So I'm
- 13:42Speaker 3: just gonna think of some off the cuff.
- 13:44Speaker 4: It's gonna be better than what I could think of.
- 13:46Speaker 3: The best one that I've come up with that sounds
- 13:48Speaker 3: like a team name is the door Slammers, because it's
- 13:51Speaker 3: like the sting at the like between scenes is a
- 13:53Speaker 3: door slamming. I love that, and I've got no funny ones.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Clever reference, yeah, anything else off the cuff.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I just keep thinking El Dewey. But it's just because
- 14:08Speaker 3: of this one picture of a cat that looks like
- 14:10Speaker 3: Dewey and it's always captioned L Dewey.
- 14:13Speaker 2: That's also good, Julia, Do do you like either of those?
- 14:17Speaker 2: Have you got any friend?
- 14:19Speaker 6: Oh?
- 14:19Speaker 5: Again, all I have is Life is Unfair and that's
- 14:22Speaker 5: just going to be stuck in my head if I
- 14:24Speaker 5: keep saying it.
- 14:25Speaker 4: So I really like the Door Slammers.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Because I I don't know, I feel like it's emblematic
- 14:33Speaker 5: of their of their family and everything, and I like it.
- 14:36Speaker 5: It sounds like it also sounds like a rock band name.
- 14:39Speaker 2: It does. Yeah, the Door Slammers a rock band, the
- 14:43Speaker 2: name of a rock and roll Sorry, yes, Julia, you
- 14:46Speaker 2: are one hundred years old to mention that. I am
- 14:53Speaker 2: all right. So we've got the Door Slammers. Let's find
- 14:55Speaker 2: out who they're going to be facing l So I.
- 14:58Speaker 6: Had to one of them is because neither of us
- 15:01Speaker 6: could watch this at the time.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I do think Life is Unfair is a good name.
- 15:06Speaker 6: Yeah, people who weren't allowed to watch this and only
- 15:10Speaker 6: could watch it years after the run with context.
- 15:13Speaker 4: That's an amazing name and.
- 15:15Speaker 6: Also the one the thing I said that. Julia was like,
- 15:19Speaker 6: that's a great team name. But I don't remember what
- 15:21Speaker 6: I said.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Oh, hell of a Malcolm, Hell ell of a Malcolm.
- 15:27Speaker 2: It's me.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm the stuff.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 15:32Speaker 6: After I said that, everyone said it afterwards, So I
- 15:35Speaker 6: think that's the team.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, going with l of a Malcolm Analodra. Yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 2: Oh fantastic. Okay, we got the door Slammers versus ell
- 15:51Speaker 2: of a Malcolm featuring. Sorry to write down, you can drop.
- 15:56Speaker 1: The featuring Godra. I'm just.
- 16:00Speaker 3: We like you.
- 16:01Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I'm just doing it for the art. I need to
- 16:04Speaker 1: be credited.
- 16:06Speaker 9: I'm not.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Credit l only me.
- 16:13Speaker 4: It's really big of you to let Audra share your spotlight.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I know I came all the way from the UK
- 16:20Speaker 1: for this exactly.
- 16:20Speaker 2: That's true. Specifically, just nothing else. Okay, just before we
- 16:25Speaker 2: get to today's games, I've asked each player to bring
- 16:27Speaker 2: in a muse, something that inspires them or something they
- 16:30Speaker 2: love from this particular fandom, and we can pause the
- 16:32Speaker 2: recording if everyone needs to think.
- 16:34Speaker 5: I know, and I really want I hope that no
- 16:36Speaker 5: one else takes mine because it's like the one thing.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I think I've got one.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, I'll start in an order that reflects that.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Malcolm in the Middle is inspiring to me because the
- 16:48Speaker 2: main character is always allowed to address the audience directly,
- 16:52Speaker 2: and I'm stuck here with these four last so loser
- 16:58Speaker 2: number one, Sorry, Julia, what's the I still thought I
- 17:01Speaker 2: was talking to that. What's inspiring you? From the world
- 17:05Speaker 2: of Mittum?
- 17:06Speaker 5: Okay, So this was my first venture into couple's dynamic
- 17:14Speaker 5: where husband is obsessed with wife. Like that was revolutionary
- 17:19Speaker 5: for me, and I was like, she's old and she's not.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Nice, but he loves her.
- 17:27Speaker 5: And it was like one of the only like templates
- 17:32Speaker 5: for relationships that were like good in my life for
- 17:36Speaker 5: like adults, like romantic relationships.
- 17:38Speaker 4: And so I've always been like Malcolm in the Middle.
- 17:42Speaker 5: They did something, they did something really good, and it
- 17:45Speaker 5: was good for me to see that at like in
- 17:47Speaker 5: two thousand and one.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Definitely in two thousand and one especially, but even just
- 17:51Speaker 2: watching back recently, it's been like, oh, yeah, it's nice.
- 17:54Speaker 2: How obsessed Halla is with Lois.
- 17:55Speaker 6: Yeah we love a wife guy, Yeah, wife guy. The
- 17:59Speaker 6: concept of ball and chain was nowhere near.
- 18:01Speaker 2: No Malcolm in the Middle, No, no, Hell doesn't even
- 18:05Speaker 2: know those words, and.
- 18:06Speaker 5: It like inspired me to like watch other stuff like that,
- 18:08Speaker 5: Like I think the only one I can think of
- 18:09Speaker 5: right now is Raising Hope. Like the two parents are
- 18:13Speaker 5: just so into each other, especially the husband and the wife,
- 18:16Speaker 5: and it's just like, well, thank god that's being put
- 18:19Speaker 5: on TV because it's like, God, I can't watch Ray
- 18:22Speaker 5: Romano be like EMRA, that's a really bad Ray Ramano.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Ray Romano is a bad Raman.
- 18:31Speaker 4: To be fair, Yes.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Fantastic, very inspiring, just an iconic sitcom parent pairing. Like yeah,
- 18:40Speaker 2: as you said, most of them are like I hate
- 18:43Speaker 2: you and that's the comedy, and that's not I don't
- 18:46Speaker 2: know that's that's that's Prey one note. Yeah, I was
- 18:50Speaker 2: about to say some of the other things that happened,
- 18:52Speaker 2: but it is the basis and premise for around one,
- 18:54Speaker 2: So instead I will move on over to the other
- 18:58Speaker 2: half of the door Slammers Aiden. What's inspiring you from
- 19:01Speaker 2: the world of Malcolm in the Middle.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I had to look up the album name, but basically,
- 19:06Speaker 3: there's an emo band from the early naughties called Brave
- 19:09Speaker 3: Little Abacus and they sample a ton of Malcolm in
- 19:14Speaker 3: the Middle quotes, And I just wanted to say how
- 19:19Speaker 3: much I love this album. It's called Just Got Back
- 19:22Speaker 3: from the Discomfort. We're all right. It's an emo band,
- 19:26Speaker 3: so they've got a long album title. Yeah, but it's
- 19:29Speaker 3: like really good music and also just like the very
- 19:32Speaker 3: specific like pinpoint nostalgia hit from like hearing Dewey ask
- 19:38Speaker 3: if your brain is big enough to get your feelings hurt,
- 19:41Speaker 3: like right before just a killer breakdown. Yeah, it's amazing.
- 19:44Speaker 3: It's a really good album.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Mate, what a shout out, what a reference. I'm going
- 19:48Speaker 2: to listen to that album. Fantastic And yeah, the idea
- 19:53Speaker 2: of it being Dewey's thing, people like I'm imagining like
- 19:56Speaker 2: an American football style guitar riff that then like it's.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Like very very twinkly while do he's saying his thing,
- 20:03Speaker 3: and because he ends the quote with me neither, the
- 20:05Speaker 3: lead singer then just shouts me neither, and then it's
- 20:09Speaker 3: like thrash metal level drums kick in.
- 20:11Speaker 2: It's fantastic, And one more time the name.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Of the album without looking at my phone, Yeah, it's
- 20:18Speaker 3: Just Got Back from the Discomfort. We're all right, brave
- 20:21Speaker 3: little abacus.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Nice, brave little advocates, lovely stuff, brave little toast of pandemonium.
- 20:26Speaker 3: When, oh my god, scrap the whole thing. Please start
- 20:30Speaker 3: the recording.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Rewrite the episode.
- 20:33Speaker 2: You can do that, right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can
- 20:37Speaker 2: just throw this whole thing away.
- 20:39Speaker 7: Comedy's fake. It's never actually written in advance. It's all
- 20:42Speaker 7: made up, every part of it. Yea, even sketch. Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 7: don't take this Google doc away from me. Fantastic. I'm
- 20:50Speaker 7: very inspired by this side of the table. But can
- 20:52Speaker 7: I be inspired by I'm not actually writing the team
- 20:56Speaker 7: names down because I'm not keeping the score. So Corey,
- 20:58Speaker 7: if you please.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Elm parentheses featuring parentheses in it for the art, love it?
- 21:06Speaker 2: And Elle, what's inspiring you about Malcolm in the middle.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Dewey's hamster from his school, the one that had to
- 21:13Speaker 7: be I forgotten the name of his name.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I don't know his name's Bernard.
- 21:19Speaker 3: We'd obviously say Bernard.
- 21:24Speaker 7: I until this very moment, believed that Bernard Bernard were
- 21:28Speaker 7: two separate names. But I'm going to say anyway, let's
- 21:36Speaker 7: do over and pretend I'm really smart. Okay, my muse
- 21:42Speaker 7: is Bernard the hamster that Dewey rescued from school and
- 21:47Speaker 7: that you see in various other episodes running about.
- 21:51Speaker 3: In his little ball. Yes, he was in the reboot
- 21:54Speaker 3: as well. Yeah, he shows up in like the final
- 21:56Speaker 3: scene when everyone's dancing.
- 21:58Speaker 7: He's an immortal hamster that lived in a tiny orange
- 22:01Speaker 7: ball filled with trail mix.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I think so.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he lives so well.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, canonically immortal, because hamsters famously die after
- 22:14Speaker 2: like a year.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But maybe that's human interaction.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Maybe if we put all hosts in protective balls build
- 22:19Speaker 6: of trail mix.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Fine, like in the wild.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I've seen them in the wild.
- 22:27Speaker 3: I haven't.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I was lying for humor.
- 22:32Speaker 2: You really could have fooled me.
- 22:33Speaker 5: I don't know you well enough, and I would have
- 22:35Speaker 5: just assumed that they're in England.
- 22:38Speaker 6: In England, we have hamsters, but they're all in balls.
- 22:40Speaker 6: They grow them out of like membranes.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I'm sorry for saying that. A real good clean take
- 22:49Speaker 3: of the word membranes. Wear into the mic membrane.
- 22:54Speaker 2: That's your patrons, Okay, fantastic and last but not least
- 23:00Speaker 2: ord for what is inspiring you from the world of
- 23:02Speaker 2: malcolms and middles.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That's just how I say it in my head.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Malcolm's in middles So that just absolutely popped me because
- 23:12Speaker 6: I did not expect it. I am inspired. Many know
- 23:16Speaker 6: that I do fiber arts. Lois's sweater game is incredible,
- 23:22Speaker 6: Like I didn't realize it and I should have acknowledged
- 23:26Speaker 6: it earlier.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But there is an episode like I don't know, don't
- 23:30Speaker 1: fact check me.
- 23:32Speaker 6: I want to say, like season three where she has
- 23:35Speaker 6: like a pink sweater and I was knitting like a
- 23:40Speaker 6: pink cable knit sweater, and I just looked down and
- 23:42Speaker 6: I was like, oh God, this is incredible.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Are you is this one it is? There's no way
- 23:51Speaker 2: of knowing which episode. Oh well it appeared in season seven,
- 23:55Speaker 2: but it's not that one.
- 23:56Speaker 4: Well maybe they're cool and they reuse costumes.
- 24:00Speaker 1: I don't think it was pretty infinite number of sweats
- 24:02Speaker 1: is it's all thrifted.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I feel like they wouldn't do that.
- 24:06Speaker 1: We simply there's no way of knowing.
- 24:09Speaker 6: There's no way on earth of knowing without rewatching the
- 24:12Speaker 6: entire series where the sweater showed up. But I was
- 24:17Speaker 6: knitting and I saw that and I was like, Lois
- 24:19Speaker 6: is an icon, and once I was looking for it,
- 24:22Speaker 6: the sweaters started and they never stopped.
- 24:26Speaker 1: And then I also never stopped, and I just keep knitting.
- 24:32Speaker 2: It's I feel like we've watched a bunch of sitcoms
- 24:35Speaker 2: together where specifically because the sweater game was so strong
- 24:38Speaker 2: in the nineties and early naughty. Oh yes, I think
- 24:41Speaker 2: there's been a lot of inspiration and you could you
- 24:44Speaker 2: could potentially knit your way through American.
- 24:49Speaker 6: I will say there are YouTube videos of people being like, Okay,
- 24:54Speaker 6: I'm knitting the Rory sweater, or here's like Howell's sweater
- 24:58Speaker 6: that has like the triang I'm crocheting that. That is
- 25:02Speaker 6: just an entire section of YouTube and it brings me
- 25:04Speaker 6: so much.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Joy, and it's brought us so much joy, and it's
- 25:08Speaker 2: very inspiring. Thank you for bringing up Lois his sweat again.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 25:11Speaker 6: I actually have to I have to quit the podcast
- 25:14Speaker 6: because I need to start a YouTube channel where it
- 25:16Speaker 6: just pop culture sweaters.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It would be so much more successful. Oh fantastic. I'm
- 25:24Speaker 2: feeling so inspired. Players. We already for some games. Yeah, right, teams,
- 25:29Speaker 2: Let's ship ourselves off to military school and escape into
- 25:32Speaker 2: the structure of round one. Round one is called how
- 25:42Speaker 2: two thousand, and it's all about the ridiculous sitcom storylines
- 25:46Speaker 2: of Malcolm in the Middle, specifically those that happened to
- 25:49Speaker 2: top sitcom Dad How played by Heisenberg, who is played
- 25:52Speaker 2: by Walter White, who is played by Brian Cranston. In turns,
- 25:56Speaker 2: I will offer each team a storyline that happened to
- 25:59Speaker 2: help How an episode of Malcolm in the Middle. They
- 26:02Speaker 2: will say whether they think it's real or fake for
- 26:04Speaker 2: a point, just some simple trivia to start things off.
- 26:07Speaker 2: That's all just to remind ourselves of the house storylines.
- 26:12Speaker 2: So we will begin with the door slammers. Here is
- 26:16Speaker 2: your first sitcom plot point. While trying to take a
- 26:20Speaker 2: peaceful weekend get away in his RV, Hall is mistaken
- 26:24Speaker 2: for a performance artist at a burning Man style festival.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Did that really happen? Or did I make it up?
- 26:31Speaker 3: That did happen? The Burning Man episode is one of
- 26:34Speaker 3: my favorites. I think if I'm like choose it, like
- 26:36Speaker 3: if I'm like cherry picking specific specific episodes to watch,
- 26:41Speaker 3: that's like one of the ones that I go to.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Okay, so, okay, that did happen? Do you remember it
- 26:46Speaker 2: happening as well? Julia?
- 26:47Speaker 5: Oh no, but now you're probably going to be saying
- 26:50Speaker 5: a bunch of things that make me want to watch
- 26:52Speaker 5: because I'm like.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Oh, Brian Cranston would degree at that.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Brian Cranston does do great.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Yeah, it's true, So I believe that it happened.
- 27:04Speaker 2: It did, indeed indeed happen. This is real for a point. Congratulations,
- 27:09Speaker 2: thank you, we're on the doors. We're on the doors.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Slammers.
- 27:16Speaker 2: Yeah, just reading of all the different things they had
- 27:20Speaker 2: Emmy Award winning actor and the fact that with the
- 27:25Speaker 2: revival they didn't shy away from still making him do
- 27:27Speaker 2: ridiculous things. It was just they'd be wild not to.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you've got the opportunity.
- 27:33Speaker 2: What a performer. Okay, what's the shortened version of calling
- 27:38Speaker 2: your team? What should I call your team?
- 27:40Speaker 1: For sure? I think you can shorten it to Ella
- 27:43Speaker 1: of a Malcolm Malcolm. That's fine, Okay, I'll allow it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I don't think based on the team name. It's your authority.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Ell of a Malcolm. He is your sitcom plot synopsis.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Convinced that a neighbor is cheating at competitive race walking,
- 28:02Speaker 2: House spends days studying the man's gait.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I think that's real. I'm gonna trust you.
- 28:11Speaker 2: It's fake.
- 28:13Speaker 6: Kyrie has found a little wrapper of some sort and
- 28:16Speaker 6: wants me to go find Kyrie bring it down. So
- 28:26Speaker 6: that's when Kyrie finds a piece of paper that she
- 28:28Speaker 6: thinks we need. It's your Well, why I mean you
- 28:33Speaker 6: have anything to me on here? I trust you implicitly
- 28:40Speaker 6: because I have I have no memory. I remember Lois's sweaters,
- 28:47Speaker 6: the disrespect Malcolm received from being the smartest person in
- 28:50Speaker 6: his house. No shade to my family, shade to my family,
- 28:55Speaker 6: And so I'm gonna trust you, okay.
- 28:58Speaker 2: And You're sorry. I was distracted, Kyrie. You originally said.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I think it's real, it's real. I think it's real.
- 29:05Speaker 2: It is indeed real. It's the racewalking episode.
- 29:08Speaker 4: I actually remember this one.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I can't have the helmet. This is it.
- 29:12Speaker 6: I thought I remembered it, and I was like, and
- 29:14Speaker 6: it's like a skin tight like suit, like we all
- 29:18Speaker 6: remember that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:20Speaker 7: But then I was like, wait, but was that a
- 29:22Speaker 7: different Was it race walking or was that skating?
- 29:24Speaker 6: Or I know there's a little car episode. So I
- 29:27Speaker 6: was like, what if I've made all of this.
- 29:31Speaker 5: It was my first introduction to the idea of speed walking,
- 29:33Speaker 5: so it's that is actually a thing I remember pivotal.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Yeah, nice, nice, okay, point each good stuff. We're off
- 29:42Speaker 2: to a great start. Let's let's make things a little
- 29:44Speaker 2: more tricky. Now, a more tricky, A little bit more tricky,
- 29:49Speaker 2: now tricky now sorry, I'm having a full sugar soorder
- 29:54Speaker 2: never happens before noon, before noon. I'm high. Right now,
- 30:00Speaker 2: the door slammers. Here is your next synopsis. How buys
- 30:03Speaker 2: a new suit for work, but refuses to take it
- 30:06Speaker 2: off when people from other walks of life start to
- 30:08Speaker 2: respect him more.
- 30:11Speaker 3: That does sound like sounds so real?
- 30:14Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 30:15Speaker 4: I can only say that.
- 30:17Speaker 3: I feel like it's it's one of those like tricksy
- 30:19Speaker 3: questions where it's like similar enough to an actual thing
- 30:22Speaker 3: that happened, but not white.
- 30:24Speaker 5: It's like Matt' seen the show and he's he's fucking
- 30:27Speaker 5: with us, would I.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I'm I'm gonna say this is not This is a
- 30:37Speaker 3: made up This is a matter original. This is a
- 30:40Speaker 3: pitch that Matt made to be a writer on the show,
- 30:43Speaker 3: but it never gone through.
- 30:44Speaker 4: As Matt's sibling, I trust you.
- 30:46Speaker 2: And that does accurately reflect my screenwriting. Yeah, this is fake,
- 30:52Speaker 2: This isn't real. I think someone in another sitcom does
- 30:56Speaker 2: this which is why I like pulled it.
- 30:58Speaker 4: It's really good to remember this.
- 30:59Speaker 3: I think it's probably how I met your mother or
- 31:03Speaker 3: some bullshit Modern Family.
- 31:07Speaker 2: It sounds very fill done.
- 31:09Speaker 6: But they they wouldn't take you modern They wouldn't take
- 31:12Speaker 6: it to the extreme of it being like stinky.
- 31:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it would just be like, it's not a stinky show.
- 31:18Speaker 6: I'm sorry, it's not a stinky show.
- 31:21Speaker 5: It's well, they have a brown tone like neutrals, whereas
- 31:28Speaker 5: Modern Family is stark white.
- 31:30Speaker 1: It's always sunny.
- 31:30Speaker 7: It would definitely do it, and it would be like
- 31:32Speaker 7: that'd be rats.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, now we need to get a sitcom stink scale going.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's my summer.
- 31:42Speaker 6: And then there's a four quadrant of like stinky, and
- 31:47Speaker 6: then I don't know how much the dad loves.
- 31:52Speaker 3: There's a correlation in this somewhere, Yeah.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Because Modern Family people Phil does love class.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it's true.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But there is still the old ball and Chain joke.
- 32:03Speaker 1: There is, but mostly it's.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Claire at Phil.
- 32:06Speaker 7: Yeah, yes, and Jay, but like so maybe it's like
- 32:10Speaker 7: a they can't they can't be stinky because they don't
- 32:13Speaker 7: love each other enough. And I think that's a lesson
- 32:16Speaker 7: for everybody.
- 32:18Speaker 1: If you love each other enough, then you can bet stinky.
- 32:21Speaker 5: I think it's also do they fart in front of
- 32:23Speaker 5: each other? I think that's maybe hard.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I slowed down. I'm not writing this down. I
- 32:29Speaker 1: don't think Phil has ever fought in front of Claire.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I don't think she'd allow it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think he'd go outside.
- 32:35Speaker 6: I think he never asked. Yeah, I think he never
- 32:37Speaker 6: asked whether or not she'd allow it. I think he
- 32:40Speaker 6: goes outside.
- 32:40Speaker 1: He does love her in the same extremity as how
- 32:43Speaker 1: love's love.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, we'll analyze it in the Modern Family episode. Yeah, sorry, no,
- 32:50Speaker 2: you're good. It's very good. Sick commonalysis, I have autism.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Can we get that recorded for the sound? Okay, let's
- 32:59Speaker 2: let's of Eliva Malcolm. Another sitcom synopsis here, when do
- 33:04Speaker 2: he gets trapped in a storm drain house spends all
- 33:07Speaker 2: weekend keeping him company by talking into the drain.
- 33:12Speaker 7: I think this is fake because do we get stuck
- 33:16Speaker 7: under the house?
- 33:17Speaker 3: And how lies about that?
- 33:18Speaker 6: Oh, and that's the type of tricksy stuff that Matt
- 33:21Speaker 6: would do.
- 33:22Speaker 1: That's some that's some Matt tricksiness.
- 33:24Speaker 7: I don't think he got stuck in a I don't
- 33:27Speaker 7: think he's stuck in a storm droom for.
- 33:28Speaker 3: A full weekend as well.
- 33:31Speaker 6: I don't have any memory of that, So I think
- 33:35Speaker 6: if you have a memory of him getting stuck under
- 33:37Speaker 6: the house, then I think that that tracks.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I think that that's the trick that that's pulling on.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Going fake fake? Are you sure the trapped under the
- 33:45Speaker 2: house thing wasn't a modern family that was.
- 33:47Speaker 3: It was also a modern family plot line, and.
- 33:50Speaker 2: This was fake for exactly the analysis you had. I
- 33:54Speaker 2: think there is a cold open where do he is
- 33:56Speaker 2: in a storm?
- 33:57Speaker 3: Was about to say there's a cold open with a
- 33:59Speaker 3: storm drain, but then I don't want to sound like
- 34:00Speaker 3: too much of a nerd, So I'm glad you had that.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Okay, back on over to the door Slammers. Here is
- 34:08Speaker 2: your next synopsis. After Lowis starts losing weight, how who
- 34:13Speaker 2: prefers her heavier resorts to secretly injecting butter into her diet?
- 34:18Speaker 3: This is true?
- 34:18Speaker 5: Yeah again mind blown as a child with like the
- 34:23Speaker 5: diet culture and slim fast in my closet.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Sure, yes, it was the era for that, but also
- 34:28Speaker 2: the era where was what you were nodding so much
- 34:31Speaker 2: that I feel like I'm not giving away this no, yeah, yeah,
- 34:34Speaker 2: it's true, true, true, cool, Yes, it is true. Now
- 34:37Speaker 2: we can discuss.
- 34:38Speaker 3: It's like after she's given birth to Jamie right, and
- 34:41Speaker 3: she's like losing the babyweight and he's like, no, I
- 34:43Speaker 3: want I want a heavy wife.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yeah that makes sense.
- 34:47Speaker 1: What a four wife?
- 34:49Speaker 4: I want my wife at one hundred percent?
- 34:53Speaker 2: Yeap. Just as we were discussing up top with Julia's muse,
- 34:56Speaker 2: just a classic hell love's lowest storyline.
- 34:59Speaker 5: It's just it's like, wow, they were doing this that early,
- 35:02Speaker 5: being like yeah, it's like fat women are people too?
- 35:07Speaker 7: What?
- 35:07Speaker 5: And she was like by standards of the time, I
- 35:11Speaker 5: feel like she was quote unquote of like chubby, but
- 35:14Speaker 5: she's not.
- 35:15Speaker 1: She's not. God that arrow was.
- 35:18Speaker 4: I thought Hillary Duff was right chubby right.
- 35:21Speaker 6: That Jessica Simpson thing hit for me and I was like,
- 35:26Speaker 6: oh no, oh it was bullshit.
- 35:29Speaker 1: How was an icon? Yeah, Lois was an icon?
- 35:33Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 35:34Speaker 1: God is this a good show?
- 35:37Speaker 2: All right? Back on over to Ela of Amalcolm. Here
- 35:40Speaker 2: is your next synopsis. After finding a carrot shaped like
- 35:44Speaker 2: a bowling pin, How begins collecting oddly shaped producee forging
- 35:48Speaker 2: an unlikely friendship with his mother in law.
- 35:52Speaker 3: He would never forge an unlikely.
- 35:54Speaker 1: It's simply too unlikely she was.
- 35:59Speaker 6: I mean, she's only in episodes where she's awful, I think, So,
- 36:03Speaker 6: I don't have any redeeming memories of her. No, so
- 36:07Speaker 6: I think I think this is false.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I think false. Yes, because it's fake.
- 36:11Speaker 1: You're a liar and this is fake.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Not even but like bonding over old vegetables from the
- 36:15Speaker 2: old country.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I don't think she likes anything from the old country.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I don't think she.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Likes anything from anything.
- 36:21Speaker 2: Yep, you're right, thank you. Yeah, this just a chance
- 36:27Speaker 2: to introduce because even though she was a horrible person,
- 36:30Speaker 2: I always enjoyed Lois's mom because it like took the
- 36:35Speaker 2: villain energy away from Lois.
- 36:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you enjoy You gotta realize the family trauma.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Yeah, to get it.
- 36:44Speaker 6: It's like whenever Lois is being like controlling and like
- 36:48Speaker 6: causing problems for her children, it's like, oh, but you
- 36:51Speaker 6: are still in the process of healing. Yeah, and then
- 36:53Speaker 6: obviously we know that in life is unfair. Malcolm messes
- 36:56Speaker 6: everything up and goes right back.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 3: I just love an episode where there's a united front
- 37:02Speaker 3: and it's like usually against the grandma. But then that's
- 37:06Speaker 3: the neighbors, and then as that one episode where it's clowns.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yeah, just a big three.
- 37:12Speaker 4: They're so powerful when they're working together.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why they can't.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Simply all right, I got one synopsis left for each team.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Let's see if I can finally trick you with one
- 37:24Speaker 2: of these. I'm very annoyed right now.
- 37:26Speaker 4: You've got like super fans.
- 37:30Speaker 2: For the door slammers. Here is your final synopsis. After
- 37:34Speaker 2: being convinced his coffee addiction is getting out of hand,
- 37:37Speaker 2: how checks himself into rehab where he leads a rebellion,
- 37:41Speaker 2: fighting alongside those with much more serious addictions.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Again, that does sound like hell sounds like he gets
- 37:49Speaker 3: himself into some scrapes.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Would they be the type of people to address addiction
- 37:56Speaker 5: in that way?
- 37:56Speaker 4: Like is that the show?
- 37:57Speaker 5: Like would they actually like put or would they also
- 38:01Speaker 5: be a family like wealthy enough to put him?
- 38:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why I'm like, like, rehab.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Is expensive, and I think the show would know that,
- 38:08Speaker 5: or maybe they would ignore it.
- 38:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 38:10Speaker 3: I think he does. I think again, like there's a simple.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Little little fight breaking between the camera.
- 38:16Speaker 3: That classic in the middle.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Style, Cory, you can't be on top of the cat.
- 38:23Speaker 2: S goalkeeper waiter scrapper.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Again, I think there is like a similar Hell storyline,
- 38:31Speaker 3: but I maybe he gets sectioned at one point and
- 38:34Speaker 3: he like escapes a mental institution with everyone or like
- 38:38Speaker 3: unites everyone. But I don't think it's rehab because of
- 38:41Speaker 3: coffee addiction. Okay, so I'm gonna say fake ibe you
- 38:45Speaker 3: on the same.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Yes, I feel and I'm sorry if I led you
- 38:47Speaker 5: there and it's wrong, but yeah, I think that I
- 38:51Speaker 5: think you're right.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, well done.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Yeah three to three. He I think he escapes from
- 39:00Speaker 2: a medical facility at one point, which is what you
- 39:02Speaker 2: might be thinking. And he has an episode where he
- 39:04Speaker 2: tries to give up coffee at the same time that
- 39:07Speaker 2: Dewey is giving up six.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Yes, how old was Dewey?
- 39:13Speaker 3: It was like season four, so yeah, like eleven.
- 39:17Speaker 2: He just started smoking. He needed an edgy side.
- 39:22Speaker 3: And that was because the actor just started smoking and
- 39:23Speaker 3: they were like, let's write this into a storyline. I
- 39:26Speaker 3: don't think that's true. I've got such a trustworthy voice
- 39:31Speaker 3: about this is amazing.
- 39:32Speaker 2: The Brits We've had, certainly on an in person recording,
- 39:36Speaker 2: and so there's going to be a lot of convincing
- 39:38Speaker 2: sounding things that are absolute.
- 39:40Speaker 1: And now I know where mediocre comedians come over here.
- 39:43Speaker 1: It's easy.
- 39:48Speaker 5: I am also a very gullible, earnest person, so I'm
- 39:52Speaker 5: always assuming that people are that way to me, and
- 39:54Speaker 5: I have to learn each person I meet. It's like
- 39:57Speaker 5: I've got a.
- 40:00Speaker 3: A nation of lias.
- 40:02Speaker 1: You specifically are a liar.
- 40:03Speaker 3: I love to five like a little rat.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Okay, we got one last synopsis, but Eliva Malcolm here
- 40:14Speaker 2: it is how creates an elaborate imaginary radio persona named
- 40:19Speaker 2: kid Charlemagne to share life advice and incites riots in
- 40:24Speaker 2: the local area as a result.
- 40:28Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I yeah, I have no memory of this. I have
- 40:34Speaker 1: no memory of this.
- 40:35Speaker 2: It's the right.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I feel like it's a it's a house sort of thing.
- 40:40Speaker 1: It is a house sort of thing. Hids Charlemagne. I
- 40:45Speaker 1: kind I don't even know what.
- 40:49Speaker 6: I can't even remember what the thing is that if
- 40:51Speaker 6: this is fake, what Matt is riffing on, because that
- 40:55Speaker 6: is a recurring thing of like, oh do we got
- 40:58Speaker 6: trapped under the house, But I can't think of I
- 41:01Speaker 6: think it's real. Let's go real, and it's just probably
- 41:06Speaker 6: something we're not remembering.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and if and if we're wrong.
- 41:11Speaker 6: Then Matt gets to be very happy that we got
- 41:14Speaker 6: one of us got one of his.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Trivia things wrong.
- 41:16Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think that it's good for the community harmony. Yeah,
- 41:22Speaker 6: so we'll either get a point or there's good better
- 41:26Speaker 6: than you morally.
- 41:28Speaker 4: That's what I heard.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Yes, we're going to say that this is real.
- 41:33Speaker 2: You're going with real. Well, we don't have to think
- 41:35Speaker 2: about the moral dynamics because it is real.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Hell yeah, that's what I wanted.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Hell yeah, all right, that's the end of round one.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Let's ask the crane Boins, the Creblins, the crale Bodes.
- 41:55Speaker 2: I can never pronounce that word, what is it?
- 41:57Speaker 3: The crew boys.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Let's ask the krell Boins to calculate the current scores.
- 42:02Speaker 2: They're smart.
- 42:04Speaker 8: Our current scores are tied with the Door Slammers on
- 42:07Speaker 8: four and el of Malcolm featuring Hadra in it for
- 42:11Speaker 8: the art on four as well.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Nice, you did not fall for any of my traps,
- 42:17Speaker 2: which I'm very annoyed by, and you're both at maximum
- 42:19Speaker 2: points so far. I also wrote these set up jokes
- 42:23Speaker 2: before I knew Corey would be keeping skull, So I'm
- 42:25Speaker 2: just gonna say Corey is also a craneum boy.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I'll think I found like I thought for the longest
- 42:33Speaker 3: time that Crellboyne was like an American school thing, and
- 42:36Speaker 3: it's just for Malcolm in the middle.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Are you saying?
- 42:39Speaker 3: You keep saying there's like the class of smart kids
- 42:42Speaker 3: that Malcolm EN's o pine, and I thought it was like, oh,
- 42:44Speaker 3: the gifted class. A nickname for that in America is
- 42:47Speaker 3: the Crellboyn class.
- 42:48Speaker 6: Because they always when when Reese is bullying them, they're like,
- 42:51Speaker 6: why don't you.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Ask the rest of the crell boys?
- 42:54Speaker 4: Is it like an acronym?
- 42:56Speaker 1: I think it's a I think it's related to like
- 42:58Speaker 1: a monster film, right.
- 42:59Speaker 3: Oh, like some really niche thing that the writers just
- 43:04Speaker 3: put in.
- 43:04Speaker 7: It's like, I think it's it's a monster film of
- 43:08Speaker 7: like mutated humans, maybe.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Wild in the way you might have got to mix
- 43:13Speaker 1: it with something else though.
- 43:14Speaker 2: In the way that British people will lie to your
- 43:16Speaker 2: face in person. Americans live via media. Trust me.
- 43:20Speaker 10: I also experienced that I can't think of specifics, but
- 43:25Speaker 10: like definitely like being like, oh, yeah, that's just a thing,
- 43:28Speaker 10: and it's like, Nope, that's just something that writers did.
- 43:32Speaker 1: A little shop of horrors. It's a little Shop of horror.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Is it a mutated human?
- 43:40Speaker 2: Let's find out.
- 43:41Speaker 4: There's Audrey Audrey to.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Seymours surname maybe and he's like an example of.
- 43:54Speaker 6: A note and yeah, Seymour crewboy, got there, We got there.
- 44:01Speaker 1: What am I thinking of that?
- 44:03Speaker 3: Are you thinking of? Krohnin Berg?
- 44:08Speaker 2: Malcolm, get back over there with the chron.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I thought it was a very mean thing to call
- 44:13Speaker 1: these kids. I mean it still kind of is.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Yeah, all right? Up Next is round two after these
- 44:20Speaker 2: ads for v Tech Heals and True Move, it's the
- 44:23Speaker 2: two thousands again babies see you after this. Round two
- 44:33Speaker 2: is called Matching Stories. It's the improv game where teams
- 44:36Speaker 2: will take on the role of two siblings up to
- 44:39Speaker 2: no good who have been caught in a scheme or
- 44:41Speaker 2: prank or other such misdeed. Your parent, played by me,
- 44:45Speaker 2: will ask you questions about the situation you've been caught
- 44:48Speaker 2: in and your stories better match, so I need you
- 44:51Speaker 2: to answer as one voice, both speaking at the same time.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I will then ask follow up quest questions based on
- 44:57Speaker 2: what you say in unison. Points will be awarded for
- 45:01Speaker 2: how well your voice is gel providing suitable justification for
- 45:04Speaker 2: your actions, and for Malcolm in the middle esque excuses.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Do the follow up questions have to also be answered
- 45:12Speaker 5: in one voice?
- 45:12Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, always speaking at the same time. So we
- 45:16Speaker 2: are going to start with Aidan and Julia. Feel free
- 45:20Speaker 2: to keep eye contacts or if that's too much, because
- 45:24Speaker 2: I'll hit the autism button then mind melt. Yeah all right, Okay,
- 45:34Speaker 2: my beautiful kitchen, Aidan, Julia? How did you even make
- 45:39Speaker 2: this mess?
- 45:40Speaker 1: Oh?
- 45:42Speaker 3: Is see, we wanted to find the Grail two give
- 46:00Speaker 3: you for your birthday.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Okay, that's a likely story, the idea that the Holy
- 46:10Speaker 2: Grail would be in our kitchen. How do you explain
- 46:13Speaker 2: this huge brown stain on the cupboard.
- 46:19Speaker 6: That was.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Because a god scares.
- 46:32Speaker 3: By the curse?
- 46:39Speaker 2: Okay, so you're saying the Holy Grail is somewhere in
- 46:42Speaker 2: our suburban house and you got scared by the curse,
- 46:47Speaker 2: and so the brown mess on the cabinet is that's
- 46:52Speaker 2: that's dookie?
- 46:54Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 46:56Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I still think you're both grounded. Is there
- 47:00Speaker 2: anything you can say to me right now that would
- 47:03Speaker 2: make me stop grounding you? We solved, Chris, Okay, fine,
- 47:13Speaker 2: you're not grounded. No more follow up question. Your stories matched.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I think there was some there was some hanging around there,
- 47:23Speaker 2: But I think your stories matched. I like that you
- 47:25Speaker 2: went the direction of the Holy Grail. That was nice.
- 47:29Speaker 2: I loved where that came from. I'm going to give
- 47:32Speaker 2: you four out of five points for that. I thought
- 47:34Speaker 2: that was a pretty pretty solid excuse.
- 47:38Speaker 1: So crazy, I'm just gonna.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Get wavy real quick.
- 47:43Speaker 1: If we just do this, well we out the same thing.
- 47:47Speaker 9: Yeah, exercises, Yeah, okay, okay, We've got another pair of
- 47:57Speaker 9: misbehaving siblings here.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Let's see what they got up to. Ordra, Hell my god,
- 48:04Speaker 2: what destruction? What have you done to my wedding dress?
- 48:10Speaker 1: Oh?
- 48:12Speaker 6: This is.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Just in.
- 48:22Speaker 7: Peace for your aniversary.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Oh so you were thinking about me and your father
- 48:33Speaker 2: during this whole process.
- 48:35Speaker 6: Yes, and how much we love you.
- 48:46Speaker 2: That's very sweet, but it doesn't remove the fact that
- 48:49Speaker 2: there is a huge hole in my wedding dress that
- 48:52Speaker 2: looks like it's been burnt. How do you explain that.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Can fairy.
- 49:05Speaker 2: Confetti caused the burnt hole in my twenty five year
- 49:11Speaker 2: old wedding dress? Yes, I was expecting. Okay, I think
- 49:19Speaker 2: this is grounds for you losing your allowance for a
- 49:22Speaker 2: full month. Is there anything you can say to me
- 49:25Speaker 2: right now that would stop me from doing that. Please
- 49:32Speaker 2: don't do that a reason since you asked nicely, go
- 49:44Speaker 2: to your room. Very good success. Yeah, oh man, look,
- 49:53Speaker 2: I thought maybe the other team had like more unison
- 49:56Speaker 2: ronan answers, but I really enjoyed the single answer con
- 50:01Speaker 2: the potential reason that would have caused this destruction.
- 50:05Speaker 1: We could have gone on.
- 50:09Speaker 6: Sometimes you need a one word answer as a treat,
- 50:14Speaker 6: and it was a lovely treat, and I didn't I
- 50:16Speaker 6: don't think I heard well.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Actually, there is a bunch of confetti in the finale
- 50:21Speaker 2: of the of the reboot of Malcolm.
- 50:23Speaker 1: In the Middle, and it's made out of Lois's wedding dress.
- 50:27Speaker 2: I am going to give you a full five.
- 50:31Speaker 6: And because we said Lois's wedding dress at the sage,
- 50:35Speaker 6: actually we've joined.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Oh that's what you said, Lois's wedding dress. Okay, I
- 50:39Speaker 2: didn't fully pick up on that one, but you'll.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Get it in the edit.
- 50:43Speaker 4: You'll hear.
- 50:45Speaker 1: We're winning.
- 50:51Speaker 2: Let's find out that is the end of the round.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Let's ask Corey, who, unlike Malcolm, is highly emotionally intelligent. Cory,
- 50:59Speaker 2: what are theatable scores are The door slammers are at eight,
- 51:05Speaker 2: but l of a Malcolm featuring in it.
- 51:07Speaker 8: For the art has pulled ahead with nine.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Still pretty close, but that is a clear lead now.
- 51:15Speaker 5: A right.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I wasn't joking when I referred to them as my opponent.
- 51:27Speaker 3: That's outside of this room as well.
- 51:30Speaker 6: Yeah, we're deeply in love.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Enemies.
- 51:36Speaker 3: It's a constant enemies to love at.
- 51:42Speaker 2: All.
- 51:42Speaker 6: Right.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Round three is called the Turkey Monk Fish. It's a
- 51:46Speaker 2: twist on the improv game family Dinner, which feels so
- 51:49Speaker 2: appropriate for a sitcom episode, especially Malcolm in the Middle.
- 51:51Speaker 2: So many of those scenes are around the kitchen family
- 51:54Speaker 2: dinner table. In this game, all five of us will
- 51:58Speaker 2: participate in a four minute Sorry, Corey, I wrote this
- 52:01Speaker 2: before you were here. I'm sorry. Feel free to join
- 52:03Speaker 2: in as whoever.
- 52:05Speaker 1: As the Hamster in a bar, All five of.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Us will participate in a four minute improvised family dinner
- 52:13Speaker 2: between characters from Malcolm in the Middle. I will hand
- 52:16Speaker 2: each player a card that contains the name of the
- 52:18Speaker 2: character they are and a family secret that they have
- 52:21Speaker 2: bubbling under the surface the aim of the game, without
- 52:24Speaker 2: explicitly naming who you are or saying any of the
- 52:27Speaker 2: words in your secret. Connectives are allowed if they're there,
- 52:31Speaker 2: you must communicate those two things for your teammate to
- 52:34Speaker 2: guess once the time is up. When the time is up,
- 52:37Speaker 2: I will ask you who you think your teammate was
- 52:40Speaker 2: and what their secret is a point for each of those.
- 52:43Speaker 2: So I'm going to hand these out, one for Audra,
- 52:48Speaker 2: one for el, one for Julia, and one for Aiden.
- 52:54Speaker 2: Are you all familiar with who your characters are? Yes? Yes, yes, cool,
- 53:00Speaker 2: and I will simply be playing the role of Reese
- 53:04Speaker 2: who has prepared a turkey monkfish for his loving family.
- 53:07Speaker 1: So we have to guess who.
- 53:09Speaker 4: Yes, what they've done?
- 53:12Speaker 3: Yes, the secret their secret?
- 53:15Speaker 2: Okay, well, family, I know we all love each other
- 53:19Speaker 2: so much, and I have decided to prepare for you
- 53:22Speaker 2: all a turkey monkfish.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I'm just so happy that I get to be part
- 53:26Speaker 1: of this.
- 53:28Speaker 6: I mean, I'm I'm also pretty happy, well like I
- 53:31Speaker 6: got finally get to come home after military school. No
- 53:35Speaker 6: one's no one, No one notices my accomplishments.
- 53:40Speaker 5: I just can't wait until I take these reovers.
- 53:47Speaker 2: To the outside because I did something.
- 53:51Speaker 4: And the summons need this.
- 53:53Speaker 2: This scripts yeah, what it's something to my turkey monkfish?
- 54:00Speaker 5: No, no, no, I can't wait to take the leftovers
- 54:03Speaker 5: after I'm done eating.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Okay, well, I guess that's fine.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Well, it smells delicious, frees and it was nice to
- 54:08Speaker 3: have the kitchen not burned down this time.
- 54:10Speaker 6: Yeah, we burning down is not desirable for anyone, I think.
- 54:17Speaker 6: I mean it makes I'd say, based on my new job,
- 54:20Speaker 6: it makes for great television that I could report on.
- 54:25Speaker 1: You shouldn't report on fire.
- 54:27Speaker 3: Though.
- 54:27Speaker 1: We shouldn't talk about fire.
- 54:29Speaker 2: We should Well, I didn't burn anything. No, we definitely
- 54:32Speaker 2: shouldn't talk about fire. This is a delicious monkfish.
- 54:36Speaker 3: And it smells so good.
- 54:39Speaker 2: Oh are you okay?
- 54:41Speaker 3: I'm fine?
- 54:42Speaker 2: Are you sure?
- 54:44Speaker 3: I'm absolutely fine. I don't need you criticizing me all
- 54:49Speaker 3: the time.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Oh suck.
- 54:53Speaker 10: That's why dogs are so great, because they can't criticize you.
- 54:57Speaker 2: I love dogs.
- 55:00Speaker 6: I'm more of a cat person, I think, although I
- 55:04Speaker 6: do remember, I do you remember what Dewey did?
- 55:10Speaker 5: Is?
- 55:10Speaker 3: Is this something you want to tell me?
- 55:14Speaker 7: I like you a lot, and I'm so grateful to
- 55:19Speaker 7: get to work with you every day.
- 55:24Speaker 2: All I wanted was a nice, delicious monkfish Thanksgiving dinner
- 55:28Speaker 2: with my family. But everyone's ranting and raving about nonsense.
- 55:32Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 55:33Speaker 1: It's just that the noise of the.
- 55:38Speaker 5: Hundred, which is a perfect number, that I can hear
- 55:43Speaker 5: them outside they're starving.
- 55:46Speaker 2: I shouldn't have let them out there.
- 55:47Speaker 6: Yeah, And I'm sorry if I sorry, if I'm a
- 55:51Speaker 6: little out of it, like I have to get up
- 55:52Speaker 6: so early for my new job. It's not right wing propaganda,
- 55:57Speaker 6: but it also is right wing propaganda, and just so
- 56:00Speaker 6: early in the morning, you're disappointing.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Well, I have six pm. Are you on drugs?
- 56:07Speaker 2: What is the.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Matter with you?
- 56:10Speaker 6: I'm okay, nothing is the matter with me anymore. But
- 56:15Speaker 6: also something is very much the matter with me. They
- 56:19Speaker 6: just paid me a lot of money to work here,
- 56:20Speaker 6: and it's fine. It's fine.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I think a lot of money is a really good idea.
- 56:26Speaker 7: I don't think we should be criticizing anything that could
- 56:28Speaker 7: help a lot of money.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Although I do love working with you.
- 56:34Speaker 4: I gotta know, how.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Are you feeling, what's going on?
- 56:39Speaker 3: I'm feeling fine. I felt a little queasy this morning,
- 56:44Speaker 3: but it was nothing to do oh with the dinner
- 56:47Speaker 3: being cooked.
- 56:48Speaker 5: Does it have to do with the thing that was
- 56:50Speaker 5: in the trash in the bathroom that had piss on it?
- 56:53Speaker 3: I told you to stop going through our bathroom trash.
- 56:56Speaker 4: I will never stop.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Can we please stop talking about piss when I've prepared
- 57:01Speaker 2: these creamed potatoes to go with my turkey munkfish, perfect
- 57:06Speaker 2: for the dogs?
- 57:10Speaker 3: And is that what the noise is outside?
- 57:12Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 57:14Speaker 1: I thought that.
- 57:15Speaker 5: You know, once you said something free, it goes away,
- 57:18Speaker 5: but it just follows you.
- 57:22Speaker 2: I have had it. This is this was supposed to
- 57:24Speaker 2: be my day, This was supposed to be my Thanksgiving,
- 57:27Speaker 2: but all of you have once again ruined it. Is
- 57:30Speaker 2: there anything you finally have to say for yourselves?
- 57:34Speaker 7: No one should go to the Lucky Aide extra snacks.
- 57:38Speaker 7: We should all eat this food and not go to
- 57:40Speaker 7: the Lucky Aids.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Right? I just think I think maybe maybe we shouldn't
- 57:51Speaker 6: watch Middle, middle of the Road or left wing news.
- 57:55Speaker 6: Maybe we should just be watching American right wing news.
- 57:59Speaker 1: And so port my new career.
- 58:01Speaker 5: One hundred and one is one too many?
- 58:07Speaker 2: Anything you got to say?
- 58:10Speaker 3: Nothing that I can say explicitly at the dinner table?
- 58:15Speaker 2: All right, that's the dinner? What a what a lovely dinner? Julia?
- 58:20Speaker 2: Who do you think Aiden was? Aiden was? Lois that
- 58:23Speaker 2: is correct? For a point? And what is Lois's secret
- 58:26Speaker 2: that's bubbling on.
- 58:26Speaker 4: The show is pregnant.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I'm anything more specific.
- 58:31Speaker 5: An unplanned pregnancy, anything, twins.
- 58:34Speaker 2: I'll take it Lois is pregnant with twins. That'll be
- 58:39Speaker 2: two points there for the door slammers. Let's let's stay
- 58:43Speaker 2: over with the door slammers. Aiden, Who do you think
- 58:45Speaker 2: Julia was?
- 58:46Speaker 3: Initially thought it was the grandma because of the cigarette,
- 58:50Speaker 3: and then I remember that we referenced Dewey smoking, So
- 58:54Speaker 3: I think Julia was Dewey. And I think had corralled
- 58:59Speaker 3: one hundred neighborhood dogs into the yard.
- 59:04Speaker 2: I think that's kind of any any more specific where those.
- 59:08Speaker 3: Yeah, stolen a bunch of dogs.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we're going to give the point for
- 59:13Speaker 2: that released one hundred dogs get into the neighborhood? Is
- 59:17Speaker 2: what do you did? So that's like four out of
- 59:19Speaker 2: four points. Then yes, let's move on over to Elvia
- 59:24Speaker 2: Malcolm Ordrome. Who do you think l was?
- 59:27Speaker 6: I can't remember the guy that Lois works with.
- 59:31Speaker 1: It's in love with her, and I want to say Norman,
- 59:38Speaker 1: I can't remember his name.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I don't think I can give you the point.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Then Elbert.
- 59:45Speaker 2: One more game. It's another name that is pronounced differently
- 59:50Speaker 2: in America in English.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I know that doesn't help him.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Similar to Bernard.
- 59:56Speaker 6: Bernard doesn't sound like the can I guess what if
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: we said at the same time, then that's allowed.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Yeah, Gay Craig, Sorry, I'll translate.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: I'll give you the point for that. But what was
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: what's craig secret?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: I think Craig burnt down the Lucky Aige.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: It's correct as well for a point. And Elle who
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: was Audra Francis? Ordra was indeed Francis, And what was
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Francis's secret? Bubbling under just started working for Fox News
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: because the actor would four points there, well done? What's
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: a successful dinner?
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: I would have said, Herb, Herb, Herb is a good
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: neget that you pronounced Craig, Craig, Craig.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: We don't have any herbs, do we in in the UK?
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: Really probably, but they would go by bertatability.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Bertie.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: All right, that's the end of round three. Let's ask
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: the intelligent Stevie to calculate the latest scores, but maybe
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Corey will read them.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: Intelligence Stevie is not here, but I can tell you
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: that the door slammers are on twelve and Elva Malcolm
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: featuring Odre it's optional.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Uh, it's on thirteen nice okay, very close heading into
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: the final round, was sorry, was there some animosity there?
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: Normal amount norm amount ages tutted?
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: I mean the little Greggs.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: I think we said it at the same time.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: We said it.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: But if you're saying at the same time, someone's always leading.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: No, we're better at this than you.
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: We're incredible, we have we have excelled beyond our teacher.
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we mind meladoay and now it's like the words
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: are coming from like like inside.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I did also coax the twins out of your team.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: That's fair, you know, that's actually fair.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: And I think Craig is difficult because Craig is not
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: in the family.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a tricky one. He just always seems
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: to be bad.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: He is always.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: I had gotten either of you, I would have been
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: totally fucked. I don't remember that there was a Francis oh.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: At military school. He killed some rats, isn't there.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: I just think of Reese, Malcolm and Deweys.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I don't know that I threw and know you're always
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: forgetting about me.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Yeah, And I was like, they would forget about you
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: if we want some more sitcom trivia as well. I
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: know why Francis was written into the show. Child label
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: laws meant that all of the three main kids couldn't
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: film for very long, and so the Francis storylines were
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: written in to pad the episodes out and so they
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: could film him on his own.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: Oh that's good, dang.
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: I mean, I'm glad that they were, you know, adhering
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: the child.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Labor You would hope it's sort of a minimum.
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: No matter how good your show is, I don't want
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: to watch it if you haven't heard child labor law act.
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: How good would a show happen now? Simply can't go
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: down that train in twenty twenty six.
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: The answer is there is no amount nineteen eighty mediocre
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: and they would be.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Like, yeah, get out of these laws. That kid's making
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: me laugh. Yeah, welcome twenty four hours straight. Give us
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: a cigarette?
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Did we do that all? Right? Before we get to
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: our final crucial quick fire around, let's talk prizes this episode.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Star Prize is the concept of living paycheck to paycheck.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: Two thirds of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and just
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: as a reminder, Patreon dot com for this independent production,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: but our winning team will also receive a gang of
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: beefcakes who will follow them around everywhere.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Can we get that on the plane home?
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Beter than the crying baby gang of slippery oiled at beefcakes.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Oh they're oiled up.
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, fine, that makes it less enticing than me.
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: Now they're gonna get grease everywhere.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: I want my beefcakes dry.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Yeah, horrible.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Up next is our crucial quick fire around after this
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: last ad break. I promise it's more than just the
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: credits and an underwritten closing scene joke about how Americans
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: structure their advertisements. Our final quick fire around will test
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: your broader pop culture knowledge, and it's called middle child syndrome.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Do we have any middle children at the table?
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: You? You know?
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: What's that like?
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: That's fine?
- 1:05:09Speaker 4: What is the birth order? I'm only.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: Eldest middle and then an unseen youngest.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I'm the baby okay, youngest as well? Okay, baby team here, Baby.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Cory. Just while we're going around the table, elders Els
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: checks out. That's why we trust you with the Scott
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Sweet In this game, I will give up players clues
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: to a middle child from pop culture history. Those clues
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: will be a list of that character's family members, starting
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: with parents before moving on to siblings.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: And it's not from Malcolm in the Middle.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: Not from Malcolm in the Middle. This is all of
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: pop culture. There is a classic gate Leapers twist. You
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: need to turn to the camera, look directly at it
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: and say I think the answer is, and then the name.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: If you say the answer to me, I will not
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: give you the point.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Okay, do we buzz?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yes? You buzz in by yelling out your team name.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Let's practice that.
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: Now, clams just a very l l out.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Your I said a buzzing. Can we just just really
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: up the audio?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Really did not enjoy that. He's coming to tell you.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: This is the stage manager.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: With the props.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: Yeah, anything else?
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: Check out?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Is he a middle child?
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: No, he's currently the youngest. He's currently the youngest. When
- 1:06:47Speaker 6: we get another cat, he will become the middle child.
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: I thought you might know the birth order of I
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: thought you know, you'd have researched. He came in with
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: a ton of other ads from Kansas because this is
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: the closest shelter that could take you.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: He was in a holder home. M H.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: So I think anyone the middle child?
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the middle of twenty The ultimate middle child.
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we've we've got all this set up
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: just to the camera, not to me, just like my
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: answer is.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Yes, got it? Do we have to say it like
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Frankie Munas? How does that.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: Is now being added? Can I hear an example?
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: I think the answers okay, okay.
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: I think the answers I think the answer is okay,
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: so she's che's it up.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: So for example, if I said, Homer slam, okay, we'll
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: slam yes, Julian.
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: I think the answer is Lisa.
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: That is correct, Lisa Simpson of the Simpsons, exactly like
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: that for a point. So Corey, if you see them
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: look at the camera and it's the correct answer, give
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: them the point. If they look at me. We will
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: keep going until someone does look at the camera and
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: say the correct answer. Lovely stuff. Interrupt me at any
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: point during the names Are we all ready?
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: Yes?
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Yes, let's do this, Katlin ned Rob slam slam. I
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: think I heard Julia first.

- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Ricken l Yes, Oldre.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: I think the answer is John Snow.
- 1:08:41Speaker 9: Yes, l.

- 1:08:45Speaker 2: It is Aria Aria Stock the middle, the middlest middle child. Yes,
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: and there's five Stock children. Aria's in the middle. John
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: snow Bastard.

- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Are we Counting the Wolf? Who's the I don't know.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: That's okay.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: I think we can die early on.
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Yeah, well not early early on, but like, yeah, all right.

- 1:10:35Speaker 2: answer is Joe. It is Joe Mudge from Little Women. Also,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: now we're getting into the realm of the middle. It
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: might not be directly middle, but they are iconically the middle.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Okay, in spirit, got it okay?
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Next one, Phil Class slam Yes, Aiden, I think the
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: answer is Luke. No.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: I think the answer is Alex.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: It is like done.
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: I was literally like before we started, like trying to
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: remember her name and I couldn't and I was like Hailey.

- 1:11:49Speaker 3: I believe their name is Calvin. It would be funny
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: if it was Alvin, Calvin and Theodore.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I just thought it would helps me. It's very ghosts
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: from pac Man. Inky, it's stinky.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: Next one craig Or Craig leone, Luke, Liam l Yes, Or.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: I think the answer is Chris.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: It is Chris Hemsworth, good stuff.
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: I knew it as soon as.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Rob Chris Courtney, Chloe Sam. I heard Aiden first.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna can I give it to Julia because Julia
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: also slammed, and I forgot the name just immediately.

- 1:13:40Speaker 2: It is Peyton Manning good, good sports knowledge. We might
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: finally do a sports episode, so we should.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: I of that you would do a sports.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: And it's not even like an international sports thing.
