- 1:36Speaker 1: go this.
- 1:38Speaker 2: It's the story you need to hear to believe.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And then grab your popcorn because there is more. Of course,
- 1:47Speaker 1: redistricting has been a front and tender story, and redistricting
- 1:53Speaker 1: became once again a front and center story when the
- 1:57Speaker 1: Republicans in Indiana, led by Rod Pray in this in
- 2:01Speaker 1: the state Senate said you know what, we're not going
- 2:05Speaker 1: to uh, we're not going to have this special session
- 2:08Speaker 1: and we're not going to bring this up.
- 2:10Speaker 2: We're not going to vote a redistricting. We don't have
- 2:11Speaker 2: the votes. Well, I'm not one hundred percent believing that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I want to be clear, I would invite I would
- 2:18Speaker 1: I shouldn't say I would invite.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I will I invite.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Senator Bray to call in and explain the position. He
- 2:24Speaker 1: knows that I disagree, and we can have that discussion.
- 2:27Speaker 1: In the eleven years I've been here, Senator Bray has
- 2:29Speaker 1: never once reached out. Neither is anybody I believe on
- 2:32Speaker 1: his staff. Uh, there certainly is no regular communications. So
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm not anticipating, but I invite.
- 2:41Speaker 2: By the way, Senator Bosma.
- 2:43Speaker 1: He used to reach out, and I and I and
- 2:46Speaker 1: I should give that man more credit for being somebody
- 2:49Speaker 1: who did reach out, and I should have embraced it
- 2:51Speaker 1: even further.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So that's on me.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Disagreement is secondary to the fact that there was outreach
- 2:59Speaker 1: to conversation, which does not happen amongst the vast majority
- 3:03Speaker 1: of this Republican party.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Criticizing the Republicans is well, pretty easy to do.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Attacking Republicans I don't think has any value. It is
- 3:18Speaker 1: the subject at hand. It isn't wanting them to fail.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I don't want the failure. I want a better state.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I think we have a lot more to do, but
- 3:27Speaker 1: the redistricting issue, and the redistricting subject is one that
- 3:31Speaker 1: I think is amiss. We should be proactive on this
- 3:36Speaker 1: this is a political process where yes, indeed, the people
- 3:40Speaker 1: could decide they don't like what you did and therefore
- 3:42Speaker 1: vote you out of office. But your job is not
- 3:47Speaker 1: only on the idea of what's best for Hoosiers. It
- 3:50Speaker 1: is on the idea of what is best overall. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: if you want to tell me that congressional lines are
- 3:58Speaker 1: drawn by fairness, I'm gonna laugh directly at your Republicans,
- 4:02Speaker 1: no matter who you are.
- 4:04Speaker 2: No, it's not. It's not drawn on fairness. It drawn
- 4:08Speaker 2: on fairness.
- 4:09Speaker 1: We'd have ten districts, not nine, and we would split
- 4:12Speaker 1: them in half, or at least it would be five
- 4:15Speaker 1: to four. But we don't do that. We're seven too.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It's because none of it is based on fairness. It's
- 4:23Speaker 1: a mythology. It's a lie.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Now I don't actually have audio for you today.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I have the truth social post that comes from President Trump,
- 4:35Speaker 1: who wrote, and I quote, very disappointed in Indiana State
- 4:39Speaker 1: Senate Republicans, led by Rhino Senators Rod Bray and Greg
- 4:42Speaker 1: Good for not wanting to redistrict their state, allowing the
- 4:45Speaker 1: United States Congress to gain to perhaps gain two more
- 4:48Speaker 1: Republican seats. The Democrats have done redistricting for years, often illegally,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and all other appropriate Republican states have done it because
- 4:57Speaker 1: of these two politically correct type gentlemen.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Quot quote and a few others.
- 5:01Speaker 1: They could be depriving Republicans of a majority in the House,
- 5:05Speaker 1: a very big deal. California is trying to pick up
- 5:08Speaker 1: five seats and no one is complaining about that. It's
- 5:10Speaker 1: weak Republicans, he puts that in their quotes that cause
- 5:13Speaker 1: our country such problems. It's why we have crazy policies
- 5:16Speaker 1: and ideas that are so bad for America. Also, a
- 5:19Speaker 1: friend of mine, Governor Mike Brawn, perhaps is not working
- 5:22Speaker 1: the way he should to get the necessary votes. Considering
- 5:25Speaker 1: that Mike wouldn't be governor without me, not even close.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Is disappointing. Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting
- 5:33Speaker 1: potentially having an impact on America itself, should be primaried.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Indiana's the state with strong, smart, and patriotic people.
- 5:39Speaker 2: They want to.
- 5:40Speaker 1: See our country win and to quote make America great
- 5:43Speaker 1: again unquote. Senator Bray Good and the others to be
- 5:46Speaker 1: released to the public later this afternoon should do their
- 5:49Speaker 1: job and do it now. If not, let's get them
- 5:51Speaker 1: out of office asap. No list has been released. This
- 5:56Speaker 1: was put out yesterday. You could argue that the election
- 6:02Speaker 1: here had nothing to do with President Trump. You could
- 6:04Speaker 1: also argue that Governor Mike Brawn absolutely wanted the endorsement
- 6:11Speaker 1: of Donald Trump. There's no question about this reality. But
- 6:17Speaker 1: President Trump's argument is there is a national story in
- 6:21Speaker 1: a national implication here. You could argue, well, he didn't
- 6:26Speaker 1: have to put you a redistrict in Texas. I argue California,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you didn't have to engage in retribution.
- 6:31Speaker 2: This was a Texas issue.
- 6:34Speaker 1: If it had just been Texas and there was no retribution,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't think i'd be in this position. But there
- 6:39Speaker 1: is retribution, and I'm a grown up and we're playing
- 6:41Speaker 1: a much larger game, and Republicans don't seem interested in
- 6:45Speaker 1: recognizing this gets shameful stuff, and I'm sorry I have
- 6:52Speaker 1: to be the ones to sell them that you're not
- 6:53Speaker 1: standing on principle, you're not. You tell yourself you are,
- 6:59Speaker 1: you say you are, you might actually believe it, but
- 7:01Speaker 1: that is not true. As a state legislature, you have
- 7:07Speaker 1: a responsibility on a larger scale. And if you don't
- 7:11Speaker 1: understand your responsibility to the country, what possibly do you
- 7:14Speaker 1: think the districting and the redistricting for the census is
- 7:19Speaker 1: what do you think is happening around you? What do
- 7:22Speaker 1: you think your job actually entails. People are like, oh
- 7:28Speaker 1: my gosh, Trump slams Braun. It's so brutal. Guys, Trump
- 7:32Speaker 1: slams everyone who cares. I got them going after Marjorie
- 7:36Speaker 1: Taylor Green. You want to care about that too, knock
- 7:38Speaker 1: yourself out. The conversation is should we redistrict? And what
- 7:42Speaker 1: is the argument in favor? I believe my arguments in
- 7:45Speaker 1: favor are accurate, and yes, Republicans do have a responsibility
- 7:52Speaker 1: to Hoosier's and a larger scale one, and that power
- 7:57Speaker 1: is okay and should be used, and not just on
- 8:01Speaker 1: this subject Republicans in the Senate and in the House.
- 8:04Speaker 2: But oh gosh, I got a list. Whenever you're ready
- 8:07Speaker 2: to start using it, we've got things to do.
