- 1:07Speaker 1: Hallmarks Bring into Love line up for twenty twenty two.

- 1:23Speaker 1: Wendy will leave a link in our show notes.
- 1:25Speaker 3: To make it easy.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It's popped. It's popping over there.
- 1:28Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I love the community over there. There's like a lot
- 1:32Speaker 2: of people who know a lot of stuff, and I
- 1:35Speaker 2: love it. I love it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: They actually scooped me on something the other day. I
- 1:39Speaker 1: was about to go post something in the group and
- 1:40Speaker 1: somebody had already posted itop.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I love it. Yes, come join.
- 1:45Speaker 1: We're gonna do Hallmark News and notes. We cannot bury
- 1:48Speaker 1: this headline. Okay, so lots of actually big news coming
- 1:52Speaker 1: out of Hallmark, but the biggest, the Queen of Hallmark
- 1:58Speaker 1: has abdicated her throne.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Goodbye.
- 2:03Speaker 1: If you haven't heard, Candace Cameron Beret has signed a
- 2:06Speaker 1: deal to develop, produce, and star in movies and series
- 2:10Speaker 1: and take on an executive role for GAK Family.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I have a quote from a Deadline dot Com article
- 2:19Speaker 2: that she talked about this move, and I'm just curious
- 2:23Speaker 2: your thoughts. You might have read it too, but I
- 2:25Speaker 2: just I'm curious about you, what you have to say.
- 2:28Speaker 2: She says, I'm very excited to develop heartwarming family and
- 2:32Speaker 2: faith filled programming and make the kind of stories my
- 2:36Speaker 2: family and I love to watch. And she also says that,
- 2:45Speaker 2: you know, because she's going to be doing a ton
- 2:47Speaker 2: of stuff, Like you said, she's excited for great quality
- 2:51Speaker 2: entertainment with a positive message. And I am really annoyed
- 2:56Speaker 2: by all of that and not surprised.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Well, and she doesn't say, but what we read into
- 3:03Speaker 1: that is that she's going to be creating that on
- 3:07Speaker 1: Ghak Family because Hallmark has potentially turned away from that.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Isn't that how you read it?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh?
- 3:14Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Now is that fair?
- 3:17Speaker 2: Maybe not?
- 3:17Speaker 1: Maybe she just is trying to put a positive spin.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Maybe they offered her a ton of money. I don't
- 3:23Speaker 1: think Ghak has produced original content since Christmas. They're just
- 3:26Speaker 1: rerunning sitcoms over there, so they definitely need the influx
- 3:30Speaker 1: of content. I read multiple articles about this, and I
- 3:33Speaker 1: never saw the word exclusive, So I don't know if
- 3:37Speaker 1: that means that she will still be creating Hallmark movies.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I looked in every press release I could find. I
- 3:45Speaker 1: never saw the word exclusive, so I think that would
- 3:48Speaker 1: leave her open to create a Hallmark movie, although I
- 3:52Speaker 1: think what she wants is to be like, hey, you
- 3:55Speaker 1: want to see the Queen of Christmas, come on over
- 3:57Speaker 1: to GAK because you're not gonna get it in countdown
- 3:59Speaker 1: to Christmas two.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I think you are right. Yeah, I can't imagine that
- 4:05Speaker 2: Hallmark's gonna be like, all right, yeah, you can do
- 4:07Speaker 2: a movie for us now. I think this just paves
- 4:10Speaker 2: the way for other actresses. And you know, Mike, Queen
- 4:14Speaker 2: of Hallmark is Lacey Saber Shabeer, so I'm here for
- 4:20Speaker 2: more of her movies.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I just don't think people are gonna follow her there.
- 4:24Speaker 1: There are some, for sure, there are some people who
- 4:27Speaker 1: are leaving Hallmark, and I will talk more about that
- 4:31Speaker 1: as it pertains to this movie. I just don't think
- 4:34Speaker 1: they're gonna follow her in droves the way Ghak thinks
- 4:38Speaker 1: they are.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I don't know. It's gonna be interesting to see. I
- 4:41Speaker 2: think she's got her hardcore following for sure.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Sleepy Kitty Paw, who is insider waking Hallmark on Twitter,
- 4:51Speaker 1: had a long thread about this, and I can send
- 4:53Speaker 1: you the link to include in our show notes for
- 4:54Speaker 1: anybody who would like to read her thoughts. I actually
- 4:57Speaker 1: don't know their thoughts. And one of the things she
- 4:59Speaker 1: says is the reality is that the Hallmark part of
- 5:03Speaker 1: the Hallmark equation seems just as important as the actor.
- 5:06Speaker 1: For example, Danaka mckeller's final Hallmark movie, You Me and
- 5:11Speaker 1: the Christmas Trees had two point two million viewers, while
- 5:14Speaker 1: her first GHAK title, The Winter Palace had about one
- 5:17Speaker 1: hundred thousand. Danaka mckeller is not kannas Cameron Bray in
- 5:20Speaker 1: the world of Hallmark, but she is a well liked,
- 5:23Speaker 1: well known face. It wasn't enough to bring those two
- 5:26Speaker 1: point two million people over. And what I think GAK
- 5:30Speaker 1: is ignoring and that sleepy kittyp Pap points out is
- 5:33Speaker 1: like Hallmark is like Kleenex. Grandma knows where Hallmark is,
- 5:37Speaker 1: she knows how to find it on her TV. She
- 5:39Speaker 1: knows that's where her movies are. When people talk about
- 5:42Speaker 1: Christmas movies, they often talk about Hallmark movies, even if
- 5:45Speaker 1: it's that style of movie across multiple channels. And so
- 5:49Speaker 1: I just don't think GHAK can compete. And we have many,
- 5:54Speaker 1: many times talked about our thoughts on the way GHAK
- 5:57Speaker 1: is weaponizing the term family friendly. I am not here
- 6:00Speaker 1: for it, and so I am disappointed a little bit
- 6:05Speaker 1: in CCB's decision to do this.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I am not surprised, well meaning they're not surprised either.
- 6:14Speaker 2: I think either. They showed her a ton of money,
- 6:17Speaker 2: like you said, and with tons of opportunity to like
- 6:20Speaker 2: curate programming and produce and whatever. Right, I mean, how
- 6:26Speaker 2: could you turn down that offer? That probably feels really good?
- 6:31Speaker 1: I think in the wake of Look, Lacey Shaber's movies
- 6:35Speaker 1: did better than hers, a number of movies did better
- 6:37Speaker 1: than hers this past year, and then they kind of
- 6:40Speaker 1: with the Wedding Veil trilogy somewhat crowned their favorites in
- 6:45Speaker 1: a way.
- 6:46Speaker 2: I think so.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I feel it's a statement on many levels. Moving on,
- 6:51Speaker 1: what other big Hallmark news coming out this week? We
- 6:55Speaker 1: heard that Andrew Walker signed it an exclusive that was
- 6:58Speaker 1: listed in the deal multi pictured with Homewark more Andrew Walker,
- 7:03Speaker 1: bless you please.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Andrew Walker is like BFFs with Tyler Hines, So I'm
- 7:09Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna expect and exclusive Tyler Heines deel come
- 7:13Speaker 2: into the news Escape here soon too. I don't know.
- 7:17Speaker 2: This makes me so happy? Give me more curious caterer
- 7:21Speaker 2: with Andrew Walker. Let's get popping on Love Classified.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Let's hear it.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Are you ready for synopsis? I am Okay. It's a
- 7:30Speaker 2: short one romance novelist Emilia returns home after a long
- 7:35Speaker 2: absence to reconnect with her children, who are also finding
- 7:38Speaker 2: their own paths to love. Stars Melaura Hardin Airy and
- 7:44Speaker 2: Mandy I know I'm saying that wrong. How do you
- 7:47Speaker 2: say it?
- 7:48Speaker 3: That sounds right to me?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Okay, Catherine mac namara and Max Lloyd Jones. I always
- 7:54Speaker 2: butcher everybody's name. I'm so sorry. I feel terrible about it.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I just want to say that the IMDb page is
- 7:59Speaker 1: in embarrassment the number of there's like twenty actors listed,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and five of them have their character names listed alongside them,
- 8:10Speaker 1: Like Hannah's name isn't listed, Taylor's name isn't listed. It's
- 8:16Speaker 1: an embarrassment. Somebody whoever was in charge of that needs
- 8:20Speaker 1: to get on their game.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Well here's my inside scoop on IMDb. It's not very
- 8:27Speaker 2: user friendly, and so I'm sure some intern is like, ah,
- 8:31Speaker 2: how do I do this? So you know I can't, Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but I understand.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Let's happen to some news and notes about this movie. Okay,
- 8:41Speaker 1: it was filmed not in Vancouver but in Victoria, which
- 8:45Speaker 1: is the cutest little town you ever did see.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Have you been there? I have? Oh nice? I just
- 8:50Speaker 2: shared on our Hallmark Facebook page not group, a really
- 8:55Speaker 2: cute article about like real life Hallmark towns, and I
- 8:59Speaker 2: would tell you last weekend I was in Summerland, California,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and I stopped for breakfast at this totally adorable cafe
- 9:05Speaker 2: and I was like, this is like a Hallmark main
- 9:08Speaker 2: street here. This is so cute. I mean, I don't
- 9:12Speaker 2: know why they're not filming movies there other than it's
- 9:15Speaker 2: in California.
- 9:16Speaker 1: But is Summerland, California the same place that the Summerland
- 9:21Speaker 1: TV shows starring Lori Laughlin was.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Not full circle moment here? I think it? I think
- 9:29Speaker 2: it is. Yeah, yes, like Santa Barbara County. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 2: I like that show. By the way, I think I
- 9:36Speaker 2: watched it. I don't really remember the details of it, though.
- 9:39Speaker 2: I was mixing it up with the reboot of nine
- 9:42Speaker 2: O two one zero because she was the mom and
- 9:44Speaker 2: that too. Oh so I was like, did they come
- 9:47Speaker 2: move from Summerland to uh Beverly Hills or am I
- 9:51Speaker 2: confused here?
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Many? Okay.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The writer of this movie is Lynn Sternberger, and she
- 9:58Speaker 1: also wrote from a Laura Harden on The Bold Type.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I love it. So speaking of Malaura Harden, she plays Amelia.
- 10:06Speaker 2: She's most notable for playing jan on The Office, which
- 10:09Speaker 2: is a show you've never watched, Is that right.
- 10:11Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Yeah, she was Michael's girlfriend. She was very funny on
- 10:16Speaker 2: that show. She was Jacqueline on The Bold Type, which
- 10:19Speaker 2: is a show we loved except for that last season,
- 10:23Speaker 2: but other than that, it was really great. And she
- 10:25Speaker 2: just was on the thirtieth season of Dancing with the Stars,
- 10:30Speaker 2: which I also watched, and she finished in sixth place.
- 10:34Speaker 2: She was great. She was great on that show.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I need to tap into my old lady's side and
- 10:40Speaker 1: get on some Dancing with the Stars. I mean, was
- 10:43Speaker 1: that the most recent season with Jojo Siwa?
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly. I was just stoked because, like you
- 10:48Speaker 2: know it, the winners are always like the young ones,
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know what I mean. But and Melaura, I don't
- 10:55Speaker 2: know how old she is, but she's older than me.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And I was very impressed with her dancing ability, her stamina,
- 11:02Speaker 2: her good attitude, like she was a pleasure to watch.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Catherine McNamara plays Taylor mm hmm. I was looking
- 11:13Speaker 2: at her IMDb. She has a ton of acting credits,
- 11:17Speaker 2: including the c w's Arrow, a show that I am
- 11:20Speaker 2: not familiar with, but I think it's for maybe the
- 11:23Speaker 2: teens or the sci fi group. Yeah, it's not for me.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I think she's also new to Hallmark and I would
- 11:32Speaker 2: like to see her again.
- 11:33Speaker 3: God, I loved her so cute.
- 11:35Speaker 1: She's so freaking cute right, Such good hair too, she
- 11:39Speaker 1: has great hair.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Max Lloyd Jones he plays the brother Zach Now. He's
- 11:44Speaker 2: currently on Disney Plus in the Book of Bobofette and
- 11:48Speaker 2: season two of The Mandalorians. Why are you laughing? Oh whatever?
- 11:55Speaker 2: I was just going to say, these are shows I
- 11:57Speaker 2: do not watch. Star Wars is completely lost on me.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I don't know any details, but here's a fun note.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And maybe you recognize him from Once upon a Time?
- 12:09Speaker 2: Oh I don't who did he play Jacob? He was
- 12:12Speaker 2: like somebody's like hand hand man or something. I don't know.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Oh man, Okay, I'll have to ask my son.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Oh is he like that show or rewatching that show?
- 12:24Speaker 1: Yes, my husband was the biggest fan, and then they
- 12:27Speaker 1: rewatched it together.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Oh. Cute, cute, cuit cute. Max Lloyd Jones also is
- 12:34Speaker 2: not new to Hallmark. He played Tom Thornton on When
- 12:36Speaker 2: Calls the Heart from twenty fifteen to twenty eighteen. Just
- 12:40Speaker 2: a side note here. We have a great guy in
- 12:44Speaker 2: our hallwork group named Michael, and he gave us some
- 12:48Speaker 2: criticism a while back about not having enough deep knowledge
- 12:53Speaker 2: of affors and actresses. So I just want to note
- 12:57Speaker 2: that I really did a deep dive. I can tell
- 13:00Speaker 2: I'm preparing for this episode. Can you tell I can?
- 13:05Speaker 2: All right? I just wanted to make that clear. Finally,
- 13:10Speaker 2: Doctor Frankie. She is played, and I'm tell me her
- 13:14Speaker 2: name again, Arian, Is that all right?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Okay? Arian Mandy. I know her as Danny Nuniez from
- 13:21Speaker 2: The L Word Generation Q on Showtime, which I'm a
- 13:24Speaker 2: big fan of. I really like that show quite a bit.
- 13:28Speaker 2: And if you remember when we did our Spring into
- 13:31Speaker 2: Love Like preview episode, uh huh, we had talked specifically
- 13:35Speaker 2: about this movie and this actress. And do you remember what.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I said, Well, you wondered if there was the same
- 13:40Speaker 1: sex storyline coming, But I don't know if that's what
- 13:41Speaker 1: you're asking.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Me, That's what I'm asking you, Okay. I remember that, Yes,
- 13:46Speaker 2: And I based that on that she is in a
- 13:49Speaker 2: same sex relationship on the L word generation Q. So
- 13:54Speaker 2: I was trying to put the puzzle pieces together and
- 13:56Speaker 2: I was correct. Indeed, Harden directed this movie, and she
- 14:01Speaker 2: also directed twenty twenty one's Christmas Sale, which we liked
- 14:06Speaker 2: the lot. Yeah, we did record a review of that movie,
- 14:12Speaker 2: but it was only on Patreon. I did try to
- 14:14Speaker 2: look and see because I was gonna drop it in
- 14:16Speaker 2: our show notes, but it's not available for the for
- 14:19Speaker 2: the regular listening public.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You could subscribe to our Patreon and get access to
- 14:22Speaker 1: back episodes though.
- 14:26Speaker 2: M okay. One last thing I had read that Melora
- 14:30Speaker 2: Harden told Media Village dot com that she hoped this
- 14:33Speaker 2: would be a momentous film for Hallmark.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Well, I think that is accurate.
- 14:39Speaker 1: This unfortunately had the lowest premiere numbers for twenty twenty
- 14:43Speaker 1: two Hallmark movies at one point what six million?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 14:49Speaker 1: The second lowest prior to that was Second Chance at Love,
- 14:52Speaker 1: which is heartbreaking to me. The highest was The Wedding Veil,
- 14:57Speaker 1: the first one at three point three million.
- 14:59Speaker 3: No other movie to million.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I hope that this movie got a lot of good feedback.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I was following the hashtag on Twitter and so many
- 15:10Speaker 1: people left such great comments there's always a lot of tweets,
- 15:15Speaker 1: but it's always like love Hallmark, love that these were
- 15:18Speaker 1: really personal thoughts, and a lot of people were saying
- 15:22Speaker 1: like I loved seeing a reflection of my own relationship
- 15:25Speaker 1: on Hallmark. I love seeing these women together, I love
- 15:28Speaker 1: seeing Hallmark embracest and so I'm hoping this movie has
- 15:31Speaker 1: a little bit of a slow burn. I tweeted that
- 15:34Speaker 1: I think if you've never watched a Hallmark movie, to
- 15:37Speaker 1: start with this one. And I do know that we
- 15:39Speaker 1: have some listeners of our main podcast that listen to
- 15:42Speaker 1: these episodes in spite of not being Hallmark movie watchers.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And I would say to you, We've said it before,
- 15:48Speaker 1: if you're going to watch a Hallmark movie, watch this one.
- 15:50Speaker 1: If you're going to watch a Hallmark movie, watch this one.
- 15:52Speaker 1: If you're never going to watch another one, this is
- 15:55Speaker 1: such a departure. I know I'm veering off news and notes.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'll get back to it, but I oh, keep going.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I love it.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Also, this movie was executive produced by Neil Dodson, who
- 16:06Speaker 1: is the husband of Ashley williams Oh. He also had
- 16:10Speaker 1: a hand in the Sister Swat movies and Melaura Harden
- 16:15Speaker 1: tweeted fun fact cover of all my books are the
- 16:18Speaker 1: face of the producer's wife, Ashley Williams.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember if I saw any of her books.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I apparently didn't notice, because I didn't see this sweet
- 16:30Speaker 1: until after I had finished watching, and then did not
- 16:33Speaker 1: go back and look for them.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I mean, I remember she holds it up. It's something
- 16:38Speaker 2: about like a progue, something about Prague. I'm gonna might
- 16:41Speaker 2: have to go back and look just out of curiosity.
- 16:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I was hoping someone would include a photo, and I
- 16:48Speaker 1: can't find any photos that have been posted. I accept
- 16:52Speaker 1: that challenge. I will if I find them, I will
- 16:55Speaker 1: put them in the show notes. Guys, excellent, I would
- 16:58Speaker 1: like to get on my I am be soapbox per minute.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Oh gosh, I have that also, Please let's start.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I am really disappointed at the reviews, and I'm doing
- 17:09Speaker 2: reviews and air quotes on IMDb. Like you said, there
- 17:13Speaker 2: were some supportive ones in there, but comments like this
- 17:18Speaker 2: isn't family viewing, and it saddens me to see Hallmark
- 17:23Speaker 2: embracing wokeness, which makes my head want to explode when
- 17:28Speaker 2: I see somebody using that word. There's just so much
- 17:32Speaker 2: hate so much hate.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it turns my stomach. I looked at the IMDb
- 17:39Speaker 1: reviews and I was very pleasantly surprised that when I
- 17:42Speaker 1: opened up the reviews, the first several were all very positive,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and at the time that I looked, there were more
- 17:48Speaker 1: positive reviews.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Than negative reviews.
- 17:51Speaker 1: That may have changed, but like you, I saw that
- 17:58Speaker 1: people use the term woke, please stop, please stop, and
- 18:03Speaker 1: the comments, like I said, they turned my stomach. And
- 18:06Speaker 1: I am not in the same sex relationship, and I
- 18:10Speaker 1: can only imagine that this this movie was so beautiful
- 18:13Speaker 1: and it was such a like adorable, sweet rom com,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and if I were in a relationship with a woman
- 18:22Speaker 1: and I saw people telling me that my life isn't
- 18:26Speaker 1: family friendly.
- 18:28Speaker 3: It's it just.
- 18:31Speaker 1: It sickens me. And this, again is why we strongly
- 18:35Speaker 1: dislike GAK. They've taken that term family friendly and they've
- 18:39Speaker 1: weaponized it in a way that is incredibly dangerous, because
- 18:43Speaker 1: you're telling people that their lives.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Are not for public consumption.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, So I have a call to action here
- 18:53Speaker 2: and I want to encourage listeners of this podcast that
- 18:57Speaker 2: if you like this movie, I want you to head
- 19:01Speaker 2: over to IMDb and write a positive review. For it.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Now you have said before the IMDb is not user friendly,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but I know you've left reviews, So tell people that that's.
- 19:10Speaker 3: A different situation.
- 19:12Speaker 2: That's a different situation. You can leave a review. It's
- 19:14Speaker 2: super easy. It's the back end stuff of IMDb, like
- 19:18Speaker 2: if you're adding like details about actors and movies and
- 19:22Speaker 2: who produced it and that kind of stuff. So the
- 19:25Speaker 2: back end stuff of IMDb. It has a very user
- 19:28Speaker 2: friendly interface for if you want to leave a review
- 19:31Speaker 2: or a rating on it. So I really encourage listeners.
- 19:35Speaker 2: If you like this movie or any other movie in
- 19:38Speaker 2: the last two years that included diversity of any kind,
- 19:42Speaker 2: go write positive messages for it on IMDb. Those people
- 19:46Speaker 2: in entertainment are looking at that. Yes, I love that.
- 19:50Speaker 2: That's a great idea. Thank you, you're welcome. Let's talk
- 19:54Speaker 2: first impressions.
- 19:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you go.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I tried cleaning my kitchen WHI watching, and I couldn't.
- 20:03Speaker 2: This wasn't one of those you could just throw on
- 20:05Speaker 2: and have in the background, huh no.
- 20:07Speaker 1: And I kept having to stop and pause and go
- 20:10Speaker 1: back and rewatch and turn on close captions, and then
- 20:13Speaker 1: I just had to stop the movie and finish cleaning
- 20:15Speaker 1: my kitchen. And then go back to the movie when
- 20:17Speaker 1: I was able to watch and enjoy it.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Nice, nice, nice. Okay, So for me, this movie wasn't perfect,
- 20:25Speaker 2: but this is a top three Hallmark movie for me
- 20:27Speaker 2: for people who don't know the history here, I had
- 20:30Speaker 2: never seen a Hallmark movie prior to twenty twenty one,
- 20:35Speaker 2: is that right? Twenty twenty twenty twenty Christmas twenty twenty
- 20:39Speaker 2: never seen one, have no interest in it, Like, it
- 20:41Speaker 2: is just not for me. And I've watched two years
- 20:44Speaker 2: of some really terrible movies, but there's a handful that
- 20:51Speaker 2: I really like and this is one of them. So
- 20:55Speaker 2: it just makes me super excited. Would you be able
- 20:58Speaker 2: to name your top three or you just know this
- 21:01Speaker 2: is one of the best.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Oh?
- 21:02Speaker 2: Absolutely a Christmas Waltz with Lacy Shabert. Oh love that movie.
- 21:10Speaker 2: And Tyler Hynes and Unexpected Christmas Great choices, great choice,
- 21:16Speaker 2: And those are two Christmas movies. So here this is
- 21:19Speaker 2: a non Christmas Hallmark movie that I'm telling you will
- 21:23Speaker 2: watch again. I loved it, same awesome. Okay, let's talk
- 21:27Speaker 2: about what you liked.
- 21:29Speaker 1: One thing I liked is this movie had the feel
- 21:32Speaker 1: of movies like a movie you hate love actually a
- 21:37Speaker 1: movie you maybe have seen Valentine's Day Nope ever seeing it.
- 21:41Speaker 1: It has a huge hit stars like Ashton Kutcher and
- 21:45Speaker 1: Jennifer Garner, and it has an enormous cast. And what
- 21:50Speaker 1: those movies have in common is they both have big
- 21:53Speaker 1: casts of characters with intersecting lives, but each character has
- 21:57Speaker 1: their own story and I loved that format For Hallmark.
- 22:02Speaker 1: We usually follow one character beginning to end, and then
- 22:05Speaker 1: there's other little mild off stories. I felt it was
- 22:09Speaker 1: a pretty even balance among the characters and what was happening.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And I liked that awesome for me. Number one was
- 22:16Speaker 2: the story. The romantic storyline between Taylor and Frankie was
- 22:23Speaker 2: secondary to the story about this family dealing with grief
- 22:27Speaker 2: and hurt and disappointment. And to that, I say bravo
- 22:32Speaker 2: to Hammark for giving us something deeper than just the
- 22:36Speaker 2: familiar tropes that we were used to. Yeah, like, this
- 22:42Speaker 2: to me felt like, uh, and I always say this
- 22:45Speaker 2: like a real movie, yes, thousand percent agree, like a
- 22:49Speaker 2: Netflix movie.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah you know, yes, yeah, I like there are several
- 22:57Speaker 1: romantic entanglements in this movie, but the only people who
- 23:01Speaker 1: have a kiss are Taylor and Frankie and they kissed twice.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I know, and in like mid movie. Yes, it wasn't
- 23:08Speaker 2: one of those like I love you at the end
- 23:10Speaker 2: and over you know, a good kiss too. I agree.
- 23:14Speaker 2: So what I'd like that this movie not only gives
- 23:21Speaker 2: us like a same sex couple, which we've had movies
- 23:23Speaker 2: in the last couple of years that I show same
- 23:25Speaker 2: sex couples right, or talk about them, you know, or imply,
- 23:32Speaker 2: But this really explored a topic of like sexual fluidity
- 23:37Speaker 2: that we did. I say that, right, Yeah, I've never
- 23:42Speaker 2: seen anything really like that before, you know, like Taylor,
- 23:45Speaker 2: I mean it's implied that she's straight right at the beginning,
- 23:49Speaker 2: but then meets Frankie and is like, I'm open to this.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that it was she'd never been in a relationship
- 23:56Speaker 1: with a woman, but that it was more about, oh,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I have an attraction to this person, right, and the
- 24:02Speaker 1: best part of it, right, And then the best part
- 24:05Speaker 1: of it is that.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Her coworker, Hannah, and her brother and her mom don't
- 24:11Speaker 2: even blink at it. They're like, all right, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 2: it was just awesome.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Hannah's her biggest cheerleader. I love Hannah in this movie.
- 24:20Speaker 1: When she's a fever, Oh, she was great. You know
- 24:25Speaker 1: her mom's first reaction is my daughter's dating a doctor. Yes,
- 24:29Speaker 1: well done. There wasn't even a moment where they had
- 24:31Speaker 1: to have this like coming out and the family struggles.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Everyone's just so happy for her.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love the gal that played Hannah. Her
- 24:41Speaker 2: name is Baraka Ramani and I had to look her
- 24:45Speaker 2: up because she's not listed on IMDb. I don't believe
- 24:50Speaker 2: or she might be. I had to look at her Instagram.
- 24:52Speaker 1: She's listed on IMDb, but she's not named as Hannah,
- 24:56Speaker 1: so she's in the full past. But she was hilarious
- 25:01Speaker 1: and who and who wrote the lines for her were
- 25:04Speaker 1: so funny. I just thought she was so funny. Agree,
- 25:08Speaker 1: And she has a pretty small list of IMDb credits,
- 25:13Speaker 1: but I hope, I hope we see more of her.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. Hey, Malaura Harden's wardrobe was fabulous. I
- 25:20Speaker 2: thought it was she and sophisticated. Did you even.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Notice her big giant pink, puffy sleeves. I'm like, that's
- 25:28Speaker 1: something Jacqueline from The Bold Type would wear when she
- 25:31Speaker 1: was in the art. I just thought she looked so
- 25:35Speaker 1: pretty and she had like these like like really pretty,
- 25:38Speaker 1: like elaborate suits on with like these pretty like ruffled
- 25:43Speaker 1: you know shirts. I just I like that look. I
- 25:45Speaker 1: just thought she looked beautiful, beautiful. I thought they thought
- 25:49Speaker 1: the wardrobe well across the board. Sometimes they don't dress
- 25:52Speaker 1: young women like young women, And I thought Taylor had
- 25:55Speaker 1: a real cute wardrobe as well.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Well. She wore this super cute bell apron thing when
- 26:00Speaker 2: she was working at the Blue Marea. Did you even
- 26:03Speaker 2: notice it didn't kind of like a fanny pack but
- 26:07Speaker 2: kind of like something like a handyman would wear. You
- 26:10Speaker 2: know that it has your like tools and stuff in it.
- 26:12Speaker 2: And I was like, I want one. Is she just
- 26:15Speaker 2: looks stylish because she was like was really cute with
- 26:18Speaker 2: her like cute shirts and jeans and then this cute
- 26:21Speaker 2: little like belt and I was like, I want to
- 26:23Speaker 2: work at a plant shop. That would be so fun.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and her good hair. She had the best hair.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I mean, this is coming from a girl who has
- 26:31Speaker 2: great hair too, so but I have a really bad
- 26:33Speaker 2: haircut right now, so I'm very envious everyone's hair.
- 26:38Speaker 1: This is so small. But when Taylor and Zacho bowling,
- 26:41Speaker 1: and Taylor does her ridiculous bowling throw, she does this
- 26:44Speaker 1: like little shimmy like slide to the side. It's the
- 26:47Speaker 1: cutest thing I've ever seen, Like, I can't obviously it
- 26:50Speaker 1: was improvised, like there's no way that you'd be like
- 26:52Speaker 1: and then slide in a way that's.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Like really cute.
- 26:54Speaker 1: I can't, I cannot describe it. You would have had
- 26:56Speaker 1: to see it.
- 26:57Speaker 2: But I know what you're talking about. She like throws
- 27:01Speaker 2: it crazy and then she like does a weird little
- 27:04Speaker 2: shimmy to watch it go down the alley. Right, Yes, yes,
- 27:09Speaker 2: I know exactly what you're talking about. That's so funny
- 27:12Speaker 2: that we noticed that same thing. I want to say
- 27:18Speaker 2: that Emilia's monologue at the end during her book reading
- 27:23Speaker 2: had some moments that I thought no one would say
- 27:26Speaker 2: that out loud, but but she There was two things
- 27:32Speaker 2: that really got me. One when she talks about abandoning
- 27:35Speaker 2: her adult children because she couldn't deal with her husband's death,
- 27:38Speaker 2: felt like a sucker punch to me, Like it had
- 27:42Speaker 2: me very emotional. Yes, And I was just like that
- 27:46Speaker 2: felt very real because I know she's criticized and from
- 27:50Speaker 2: everything I've read, like her characters criticized for like bouncing
- 27:54Speaker 2: right like after her husband dies and leaves her adult children.
- 27:57Speaker 2: But like people deal with grief in all different ways.
- 28:00Speaker 2: And I don't know. I just thought it was very
- 28:03Speaker 2: realistic and I like that that it was like a
- 28:08Speaker 2: hard topic. Second, she has in the same monologue, She's me,
- 28:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna read it. I wrote it down because I
- 28:19Speaker 2: thought it was like, oh my god, this is amazing.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Did you pay close attention to that monologue or no? Yes? Okay,
- 28:27Speaker 2: So she says that she wants to start writing her
- 28:31Speaker 2: books in a way. That quote pays tribute to the
- 28:34Speaker 2: more complicated love stories around us. Not all are flawless,
- 28:39Speaker 2: not to all are romantic, and not all are expected.
- 28:42Speaker 2: And I was like, is this the direction that Hallmark
- 28:45Speaker 2: is going in? Count me in? Yeah? Yeah, I just
- 28:49Speaker 2: I was like, this is the story that we have
- 28:52Speaker 2: in front of us. This was the movie. It wasn't
- 28:54Speaker 2: It wasn't flawless. The whole thing wasn't romantic, and it
- 28:58Speaker 2: was unexpected and complicated.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, And you know, Hallmark loves a happy ending, and
- 29:05Speaker 1: we have so many.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Not so many, but we have.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Several romantic storylines that are very up in the air
- 29:12Speaker 1: and very incomplete and don't have a clear direction forward.
- 29:16Speaker 1: And that's life. And that's where they were in this moment,
- 29:20Speaker 1: and I liked it.
- 29:22Speaker 2: When her book publisher comes in at the end and
- 29:24Speaker 2: they're like, oh, he's a perfect match for Frankie's like
- 29:27Speaker 2: doctor friend. I laughed out loud. I thought it was
- 29:30Speaker 2: so funny, just like a throwaway, like it didn't even
- 29:33Speaker 2: need to be like sad, but it was just so funny.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Did you like anything else about this movie?
- 29:40Speaker 1: There were just the writing was impeccable. It's just so
- 29:43Speaker 1: funny and quippy. I mean, Hannah at one point it's
- 29:46Speaker 1: like spitballing things she can put on classify for the
- 29:50Speaker 1: for the flower Shop, and she's like, I don't know
- 29:52Speaker 1: all my plant loving nomis and I just like laughed
- 29:55Speaker 1: out loud of the ridiculousness. But the writing, Bravo.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Let's talk about what we wished for well.
- 30:04Speaker 1: To your point about Amelia's monologue and about showing the realness,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I'm having a hard time both believing and forgiving Amelia for,
- 30:17Speaker 1: to use her words, abandoning her children. I have not
- 30:22Speaker 1: lost a spouse. I can't personally speak to that. I
- 30:24Speaker 1: can imagine that it would be hard as hell to
- 30:26Speaker 1: lose the love of your life. I cannot imagine a
- 30:30Speaker 1: situation in which I then abandoned my children.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, and neither can you.
- 30:38Speaker 1: There's there's you can't because I feel like I were
- 30:43Speaker 1: in that position. Would you be like, yeah, now I
- 30:45Speaker 1: want you to lose both parents?
- 30:47Speaker 2: No? No, But I could see how she could justify
- 30:51Speaker 2: it by saying like, well, they're adults, they're not like
- 30:53Speaker 2: they don't need their mom, you know, on the every
- 30:57Speaker 2: day anymore. I'm not justifying it. I just think that
- 31:01Speaker 2: grief is a real bitch and it can do weird
- 31:04Speaker 2: things to you. I don't disagree.
- 31:06Speaker 1: I don't disagree, and I can understand her needing to
- 31:09Speaker 1: move away. I can understand her needing to say like, hey,
- 31:12Speaker 1: I want you in my life, but I can't have
- 31:14Speaker 1: it be in this place where all of my memories are.
- 31:19Speaker 3: And look, of course they needed a conflict, and I
- 31:21Speaker 3: get it.
- 31:22Speaker 2: I just.
- 31:25Speaker 1: That is hard for me to understand. Sure, Okay, I
- 31:30Speaker 1: understand like when children's children die, marriages fall apart. That
- 31:34Speaker 1: I can understand. I just don't understand the reverse.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:37Speaker 1: In Happier News, I think Taylor and Frankie need a sequel.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Absolutely, that's what you wish for. Yeah, I would love
- 31:45Speaker 2: a sequel. I would Yeah, I would love a sequel.
- 31:49Speaker 3: What'd you wish for?
- 31:50Speaker 2: Okay, as much as I liked Melaura Harden's character, I
- 31:54Speaker 2: thought she was manic at times. Oh, and I thought
- 31:58Speaker 2: it was distracting, Like she has like a way of
- 32:01Speaker 2: her acting where she like is like spitting out these
- 32:05Speaker 2: lines at such a pace and her head is like
- 32:08Speaker 2: jerking around a little bit. It only happened in a
- 32:11Speaker 2: few scenes, but I just found it very distracting.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Like when she's talking herself out of ordering coffee and
- 32:17Speaker 1: a mimosa.
- 32:19Speaker 2: That when she's in the bar talking to you know who,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and when she's in the hospital, like she's just like acts.
- 32:30Speaker 2: I don't know, I can't. I like. The word that
- 32:33Speaker 2: comes to me is manic. Yeah, twitch is twitchy.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I don't like it.
- 32:40Speaker 2: And this is an old lady complaint. I wish I
- 32:42Speaker 2: would have left the little chat bubbles up on the
- 32:44Speaker 2: screen longer because I needed to read them. When they
- 32:48Speaker 2: were doing like the Classified Love Classified or whatever, you know,
- 32:52Speaker 2: clified had to pause. Yeah, I was like, leave that
- 32:55Speaker 2: up there. I need to read it.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah, very few things I wished for in this movie. Same, oh, same,
- 33:01Speaker 1: are you ready for? Did you see that?
- 33:03Speaker 2: I am.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I mean, look, we've both held back.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Is the best? Did you see that.
- 33:09Speaker 1: One went in the bar?
- 33:10Speaker 2: Yes? It absolutely is?
- 33:12Speaker 1: And who was the bartender?
- 33:14Speaker 2: Hi? Paul Campbell.
- 33:17Speaker 1: He comes on screen and I literally go Paul Campbell
- 33:22Speaker 1: like he's my lom like house high school buddy.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I did too, I like gass them like Paul Campbell's
- 33:31Speaker 2: in this And then I was like did he write this?
- 33:32Speaker 2: And then it was like a deep dive on to
- 33:34Speaker 2: see if like he wrote it. He did not? Yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 2: I was so excited, said I was like, is he
- 33:40Speaker 2: just in town doing something else? And then was like, hey,
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'll pop in and play the bartender in this movie.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And he has lines. He doesn't just drop a coffee
- 33:48Speaker 1: in Bounce. No.
- 33:50Speaker 2: And there's one scene like when her son shows up.
- 33:54Speaker 2: It's really quite funny, and Paul Campbell's reaction to it
- 33:57Speaker 2: was hilarious. I thought, love seeing him. I just love
- 34:01Speaker 2: Paul Campbell so much. I do too. I need him
- 34:04Speaker 2: in more movies.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I know he likes to I think right more than act.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Well, you know what is so funny And I feel
- 34:13Speaker 2: quite a shame saying this, but when he was in
- 34:15Speaker 2: the Santa Steakout, we were doing like something on our
- 34:20Speaker 2: Instagram or something like if you what did you just say?
- 34:25Speaker 2: What were we calling it? Hatie something?
- 34:28Speaker 3: Whoa wowie zouie?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Oh? Yes, I thought you were going what did you
- 34:32Speaker 2: think I was gonna say? Go ahead? Oh boy, guys,
- 34:36Speaker 2: I thought he was. You know, we were like, is
- 34:39Speaker 2: Paul Campbell wowie zowie? And We're like no, But he's
- 34:42Speaker 2: really turned it on for me a hundred percent, Like
- 34:46Speaker 2: I want to see him on my screen. I love
- 34:49Speaker 2: following his Twitter and his Instagram. I just love him
- 34:52Speaker 2: so much.
- 34:53Speaker 1: You know, I think Hallmark movies often have the opposite effect.
- 34:56Speaker 1: They like un wowie zowie these people who are actually
- 34:58Speaker 1: quite wowie and life. So no, I may cut this out,
- 35:03Speaker 1: but I will tell you that there was some promotional
- 35:07Speaker 1: shots for the Santa Steakout, and in one of them,
- 35:09Speaker 1: Paul Campbell and his co star are sitting on steps.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Do you know where I'm going with this?
- 35:13Speaker 2: No?
- 35:14Speaker 1: Oh, and he's he's like kind of like man spreading,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and he's wearing a tight hair of pants and like
- 35:23Speaker 1: the rule of thirds, focal point of that shot is
- 35:28Speaker 1: his crotch and his pants are tight, and did Wendy
- 35:32Speaker 1: screenshot that to me and say, am I looking at
- 35:34Speaker 1: Paul Campbell's right here?
- 35:37Speaker 2: Oh I did? You're right? And I think, right, yes,
- 35:42Speaker 2: I think the answer is yes too. I forgot about that.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I'm terrible at objectifying these men on my TV. I mean,
- 35:50Speaker 2: he's sorry.
- 35:51Speaker 3: He objectified himself.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yes, but I didn't have to like screenshot it and
- 35:56Speaker 2: send it around the internet just to me, just to me, Hey,
- 36:00Speaker 2: I have one funny Did you see that? And I
- 36:04Speaker 2: think it's funny. In one of the early opening scenes, Margo,
- 36:08Speaker 2: the bookstore manager, is walking and reading at the same time,
- 36:12Speaker 2: and she runs into this couple and the guy in
- 36:16Speaker 2: this pairing is like seven feet tall. He's huge, huge,
- 36:21Speaker 2: His head is out of the frame right, And what's
- 36:26Speaker 2: funny is that he's walking with a much shorter woman.
- 36:30Speaker 2: And I had saw on IMDb a woman billed as
- 36:35Speaker 2: height difference couple female, and I didn't get the joke
- 36:40Speaker 2: until like I like put it all together. I was like, Oh,
- 36:42Speaker 2: this is the chick with the super tall dude. It
- 36:46Speaker 2: was funny.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Fun fact.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Did you know that they completely built that bookstore out
- 36:51Speaker 1: of an empty room that is not an existing bookstore.
- 36:53Speaker 2: They staged it really I'm impressed, me too.
- 36:58Speaker 1: So m. At one point, Emilia is in a bar
- 37:02Speaker 1: and she her old high school flame shows up and
- 37:05Speaker 1: she orders a Shirley Temple. Did you did you see
- 37:09Speaker 1: the Shirley Temple?
- 37:11Speaker 2: No, I don't remember.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I took a picture of it. It's not a Hirley temple.
- 37:16Speaker 1: A Shirley temple is a sprite and grenadine, right am
- 37:20Speaker 1: I this? I am correct in this? No, it's like
- 37:22Speaker 1: a it looks like a like a tequila sunrise.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Let me find the photo.
- 37:27Speaker 1: It is red on the bottom and yellow on top,
- 37:31Speaker 1: like a bright yellow on top. And it's funny because
